"Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Today he's talking with WTO about what's next. I'm going to be 82 years old in three weeks. Congratulations. Have you heard that? As they say, give me a break here. Speaking to the DMV download podcast Fauci said it's going to be odd not driving on to the NIH campus in Bethesda as he's done for almost 54 years, but is stepping down doesn't mean he'll stop working. I know that I have a few years left, I believe, of being energetic. I hope healthy and passionate about what I'm doing and I want to be able to do some things outside of the confines of the federal government, what parting words will he have for his successor? Stick with the science, stick with the data, stick with the evidence, stay out of politics completely. Mike Morello, WTO news. Here, Fauci's entire discussion on the DMV download podcast, which is available on WTO P dot com or wherever you get your podcasts Does it seem like everyone is getting sick right now? They're urging residents to wear face coverings indoors and in public settings. And while it's not mandatory, health officials in New York also want kids to wear masks in schools again. It can't hurt. I'd rather my kid not get sick than protect her friends. Stacey Lynn, CBS News. The horse race industry stopped training horses at the old buoy racetrack years ago. I mean, even if <Speech_Male> men's tenants <Speech_Male> as well as our current women's <Speech_Male> tennis teams, we don't have a mentor. <Speech_Male> And we have just a <Speech_Male> woman standing. <Speech_Male> But we're <Speech_Male> definitely looking to provide <Speech_Male> more support to our women's <Speech_Male> tennis team. <Speech_Male> I actually are <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> student government association <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> president <Speech_Male> to tie <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> is <Speech_Male> zona tennis <Speech_Male> team right now. <Speech_Male> So it's just like, <Speech_Male> so again, <Speech_Male> again, tennis players <Speech_Male> always are <Speech_Male> doing other things <Speech_Male> besides just playing tennis. <Silence> I mean, they're multi talented. <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> so she's <Speech_Male> in another <Speech_Male> example of just how <Speech_Male> talented <Speech_Male> a tennis collegiate <Speech_Male> tennis player is. <Speech_Male> But <Speech_Male> from police state <Speech_Male> university, again, I <Speech_Male> mean, I'm asking <Speech_Male> our AD <Speech_Male> to put <Speech_Male> more resources into <Speech_Male> our female <Speech_Male> tennis team right <Speech_Male> now. <Speech_Male> Maybe even possibly <Speech_Male> consider having a male <Speech_Male> sentence team sung here down <Speech_Male> the <Speech_Male> road from right now. <Speech_Male> So again, I would <Speech_Male> love to see a <Speech_Male> particularly being up here, but <Speech_Male> we state university <Speech_Male> in the <Speech_Male> epicenter of <Speech_Male> the DMV <Speech_Male> area, <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> definitely the <Speech_Male> Washington D.C. to <Speech_Male> Maryland, <Speech_Male> Virginia area, <Speech_Male> that it's been no reason <Speech_Male> why we are a powerhouse <Speech_Male> like the others <Speech_Male> that are in this area <Speech_Male> right here. So there's a lot of <Speech_Male> great tenants going on here. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> And buoy <Speech_Male> and Bowie Maryland. <Speech_Male> And so I would <Speech_Male> like to see us <Speech_Male> having an opportunity <Speech_Male> to do those things as <Speech_Male> well. As an <Speech_Male> institution, <Speech_Male> again, where the oldest HBCU <Speech_Male> in <Speech_Male> the state of Maryland, <Speech_Male> where the fastest <Speech_Male> growing institution <Speech_Male> in <Speech_Male> the state of Maryland. <Speech_Male> And so why <Speech_Male> not have a great <Speech_Male> tennis team like we do <Speech_Male> have a great football <Speech_Male> team and a great basketball <Speech_Male> team, great <Speech_Male> softball team, great <Speech_Male> volleyball team, great <Speech_Male> bowling teams. We got a lot of great <Speech_Male> sports going on. <Speech_Male> And we want to make sure that <Silence> tennis is up there with them as <Speech_Male> well. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> Well, <Speech_Male> good luck. So i'm not sure how we could use in that solution but how about you tell me your idea so the matters trust and then also matter is proving the person who it is i think the whole thing you talk about the cdc on. I'm confused. I don't know i'm not going because i'm being recorded might be affiliated steaks so so how about how the discussion between like like companies like apple right. Everyone always has pushed back against them. Because they don't want them to be monopolistic and define their own power so it's kind of like what you were talking about earlier to me earlier in the day like this division between like the centralized companies. Let's say developers if you're developer. Define any rulli want and even in crypto. I would say right like these developers that are making these defy protocols. They have a lot of power their access to maybe smart contracts and things like that right. So i know what i want to say. Now i know hooker sco head. Apple is like the cadillac of crypto. Cadillacs always broke down. We all know this. Anybody had mom dad on you. Old enough to have cadillacs always breakdown caused a lot of money to repair and then everything is in house similar to apple. They don't let anyone in their house I don't even know where to begin. But anyway i found a apple laptop the other day and i was trying to jailbreak it and i could not is they. They're they do good technology. They're very good. So the whole point being Going back on the tangent. Excuse my french here. We go imagine. Someone loses their see phrase or their privacy right. What do you do in that situation. If you don't have a custodial person watching stuff so i kind of went off on. A tangent rosen. But i got a valid point here. What is a person do. The average joe shmoe doesn't know what they're doing in the grip of the world and they get involved in this and then all of a sudden their own one eight hundred customer service trying to figure out. Where's my trip though. How do you think we can. I mean how do you think consultants. Sorry saying that. Cryptos too complicated. Because a lot of those properties i feel like is what gives it its value. Prop up your private key. For example and reveres private keys would actually gives the ownership to your bitcoin. Right on if i do that for you kind of takes away. I think the value prop so i mean is that you agree with that or do you think we still need to make more updates. That specific category. I think if we had multi signature wallets if you had like five cousins or seven cousins at all signed off on it and then we include like life insurance and all of that and ira's jumping around everywhere. I can while. I got my time.

"So help me understand the question. Russian on you're saying Outer banks gonna reposition themselves. Know i was asking like You know a lot of. Let's say let's take governance right. A lot of these defy tokens voting voting on the rules for whatever's happening within. Yeah yeah exactly. Do you think we can self sustain that or do we need some sort of central structure to define that or can we come up with this. I honestly honestly on my head i think. A lot of people dylan covert anathema. Be looking at their phones in looking at to judge whether or not they want this particular voting point to go through a not. So i don't know i'm thinking. Candy is candidly speaking now. Imagine a nerd who looks at his computer every day. He's obviously going to vote in be like fuck out. I want that to go through now. But i don't know about the average person like i don't know how that will work. And then you have a lot of non voters so that's just me speaking candidly. I'm i'm i've been doing this a long time. Ya so that's just. I don't know man. I mean we certainly had significant voter voter turnout this time. Around and both even in actual crypto projects. I would say over time. People are actually using these to cast votes on different proposals right. I'm talking like in the protocol themselves. But i think at the same time you know. We've seen this war between a developers and the end user solitaire like even recently. Two days ago Apple finally reduced the The percent that they take from developers previously developers the give them three percent of all the revenue they make A now apple produced back to fifteen percent. So do you think this war will will continue. And that's what will bring more people into crypto like during the holiday times or You know yeah. What do you think about the central organizational organization of company. Let me ask you this. What do you know about zero. Knowledge proof concept. Yeah yeah i know a good amount of about it down to me and like one minute roquette. Yes so zero knowledge proofs you its way of proving that you have ownership of something without revealing the exact I would say Traceable pattern like you can't abstract a known identity so it's more way of using a key to prove that you have something. So how can we use that. In this i was getting ready to say my solution. But how can we use that in that solution.

How Jennifer White-Johnson Became a Photographer, Graphic Designer, and Professor

"Name is Jennifer White Johnson. And I'm a multidisciplinary artist so photography graphic design and then I'm also a professor a visual communications and digital media art at Bowie State University. So I know that you wear a lot of hats both literally and figuratively a deadly. But let's let's start off talking about your work as an art and design educator You mentioned being a professor of visual communications and in our state. What courses do you teach so I teach all across the spectrum of Foundation Asian art and then also senior thesis and exit portfolios So it's really great like I get a chance to dabble in an intro to like digital art on and what that means for non majors and then also students that are just getting into like art making and what that means for them and you know so if they're painters or illustrators they wanna get into like a digital kind of experience. Can't I help them navigate through the tools unlike the different experiences that they wanna be able to learn and then also you know like traditional like intro to graphic design courses and getting them excited about typography and like font design and then also getting them to understand design history and then what that looks like as an h. b. c. student and you know kind of creating artwork that they often don't get a chance to see or that they may be one alike change like the narrative a little bit and then also senior thesis so again getting not all undergraduate programs have students like create an actual. You know like senior thesis capstone and so. It's really great that they the students it's a group show but they still get a chance to to kind of create like this really amazing like legacy that they wanNA leave behind and they get a chance to kind of pick any topic that kind of relates to their concentration tation whether it's fashion design or advertising Animation Motion Graphics. And so it's great like I love that. I get a chance to meet. So many different students teach on so many different levels because it's very interdisciplinary program. It also sounds like because you're teaching such a wide spectrum of classes you almost end up sort of being a student's guide from starting out as a freshman all the way up until they graduate like you get to see them and really evolve as a designer. Yeah that's like one of my favorite things I think now because I've been teaching there since two thousand eleven and so i. I think that I've seen maybe like three or four classes from freshman year all the way to senior year. And it's just so amazing and like you said just saying them develop seeing them evolve and then seeing them kind of pick up all different types of lake design an art art stat house that they want to be able to like incorporate into what they do and these kids are like Soto. They're amazing they're like their their their their own. Little mini like designed burns like in their own right and I feel like a lot of people. Don't really get a chance to realize. Or maybe they. Sometimes they get harped on 'cause they're like oh well they like. Can't you just focus on just doing this and kind of like solidify place in this particular type of of of work. But it's like like the students know that they WANNA do. They WANNA be photographers. They WANNA be designers. They want to create their own brands. And just like I can't say no to that out it to just kind of let them be you have to let them create because that's one thing that we kind of push and strive for is them getting out there and collaborating and not working working in a silo. So I love that. I get a chance to Kinda see a lot of little collective swarming within the school and then also outside side of the school and I can't I can't push that enough like and I'm so happy when they kind of take it upon themselves to to do that so no that's that's that's really good. It's it's funny you mention that because I was just talking with someone recently. I think they're like a like a film student. Probably at Georgia state in here in Atlanta. And how do we can you know how we connected. He was one of my lifts Drivers one time and I remember he was talking about are being designer and I gave them my information and say reach out to me so we've kind of been keeping in touch and he's been talking about really trying to get out there and like find a job. He's in school right now. I think he's maybe junior so he's like really defined the job and I'm trying to find a job and I'm trying to stress upon him like you need to build a a website or or get a brand or something get brand but like build your brand up so when you're ready to graduate you actually have work that can show for it and it's so interesting how I think people can be so focused on the end results that they don't realize kind of everything else that can go into it which can help make you successful past getting getting just that end result. Let's say you get that job. That's not the end once you get the job like what about the next job. Or what have you get tired of this job and you WanNa do something something different like you have to think about that as you're kind of coming up I think especially now as a student because there's so many ways to be a part of this industry that don't involve going to school so if you you know this is not the sort of hard on education. But you don't necessarily have to even go that route to be a designer so it's an interesting time right now. Yeah and so. That's why I'm always really excited. That like you were saying the students they become like these mini little like you know entrepreneurs and and we stressed that a lot like a buoy in. It's just you know what are the. How're you building those relationships water? Are you doing. What are you making where you going? Where you showing up? What you know folks like aligning yourself with? What collectives are you aligning? Aligning yourself with and it's awesome just like being like in DC and No close to Baltimore and being able to kind of. There's enough stuff stuff happening that we push the students to go to the apart of that they really don't have any excuse to just do not like WanNa get out there on a share air and WanNa you know propel like their their art forms forward and so the and I think one of the key things is just mood getting Making sure that they stay motivated in we have to work so hard to just put people in their path. Make sure that those paths are also accessible so that they feel like Oh. These paths are like a reflection of me like I can see myself being a part of this world in. It's not like Oh my professors just trying to you know like forced me to make these connections are these networks. But it's like no like this is how this particular you know. Aig Chapter can like like really benefit me because they want to mentor me. They want to you know. Continue to kind of like see me through and collaborate with me and so it's been amazing thing I think that's what makes educating at HBU. So fun is that you know. People want to be able to continue to provide accessible title opportunities for students of Color. They see how necessary it is and how important it is and it's just really about. The responsibility is huge. As you know the work is huge because I have to continues making those those waves and setting those pats for the students but I need a lot of help. Oh I need a lot of help from the outside community you know collective to con to continue to Kinda like create those paths and I mean and it's it's
