"I'm just going to go. All the way really lead tony how in in storyboarding at disney And what a great story that you are telling now About your career that you failed at one thing you can admit that the transition to something else that most people would think is even harder and now are super super successful in what you do And bring teaching and light and enjoys all that. There's no question to that but which is fine tone. Yeah because it's all true told you just because we just heard about a half hour of him tearing himself down about how horrible but an artist so now here kind of come and then there was some now i wanna hear i wanna hear the rise of mark kennedy. So let's let's go back to finish that story so now you've you've you've touched in store you've done it on the ladder. Tv show how does it transition to you coming back. Was there ever a moment we were like. Hey i'm going to try and get back to disney. But i still want to be an animator or or had you totally got into this to the dark side of story to. It's so funny. Because i was still driven by my my need to be milked call wednesday. You know and and i liked disney tv. I got a lot out of it. Worked on a bunch of shows a lot of good people but one brothers was starting in animation studio at that time this is before i am giant. It's before the camelot movie. The made a really they were just sort of pulling people together. The bill sukhoi or went over there and i was talking to people. Oh one of our former classmates. Dan boulos was there and knossos. Was there one of our fallen classmates and And and so disney. Tv was very kind to me and they said hey we want you to stay and do this and i just said you know basically like i'm leaving story behind warner brothers said cumby an animator and like i'm finally going to be bill call i don't have to do these dirty grubby storyboards so i went to warner brothers and you know said i want i want the milk call richard famous contract lease and the thing was they had a they were doing development in there were all these directors. They're building sequeira one and they picked the project so there were there was nothing to do and You could kind of. I could literally hired. You really didn't have a need for you. That's interesting different time for sure it was was yeah. It was growing and expanding. Yeah yeah i know lying came out while i was there and i think probably people were starting. I mean people were thinking. Hey this is big business. And i'm sure they felt like we have to grab up people we can so But because there was nothing to do i just sorta started walking around. Let me storyboards. And and so. I started story. Pulled me back in and again. I think that's where i really realized like we're talking about. I just like affecting a big chunk of the movie. And i mean you can say like like you're saying about my blog. It's it says a lot that i'm fascinated by filmmaking and staging in cutting and lighting and all that and much as i love being an animator in nothing more amazing than a great animator i just had to realize my skill sets more towards story. Yeah and just just a hop on that you're drawing ability which again you pooh-poohed for so long and we had to put up with. That was actually perfect for story. And i have a feeling. That's part of your story to that. You're not mentioning. Is that all son. Not being completely on model was not important in story story. But you had all the ability to create fun character designs and things like that like you could do all that which you did mention that. But but duplicating other people's designs perfectly was not your forte. You had a loose style from day. One that could create great storyboards greats vets that that we're super inspirational for animators than take later on and make into that the perfect version of bell or whoever. It's so funny. Because that that one glen would always say like work on your weaknesses you know like. Hey if you can't draw hands don't ranger seen soon after hands figure out how to dry hands and it was my thing i always felt like i wanted to become an american could draw very cleanly technically and structurally in. It's something that i've worked on a lot. And i've gotten a lot better at ironically in story Because i always wanted to but it like you guys were always so amazingly talented draftsman and could draw so precisely no of all the people. I know you guys are so good with that. Even at cal arts and it's just something that was one thing that like i came to light. Would you call it milk. Kalyan oh my god almost ability call. Thanks again rembrandt. Less your heart from brent was twins. Come welcome being the third person in the bancroft brothers animation. Your life podcast for us is talking about how great we are. I m yes so it's funny because it's so funny that you said because i was thinking about that i really push myself to draw precisely in. I take great. Pride now drawing storyboards in a way that i am very precise in a way that i never be namur and it gets me into so much trouble because you draw precisely people go. Oh that's a great. And could you scrooge the eyebrow up a little bit do the rough dot ie people like well. That's you captured her. Her unwieldy perfect has an interpretation becomes part of it right. Yeah that's what you think. Puzzles disgust. looks like no. So what you know stories all about juggling a lot of different things you know and and it's one thing that i really liked about stories like you're saying it again. If you have seen through tomorrow in you have to do one. Hundred drawings you can do them loosely in story. Yeah and i like that. That's better for my speed. But i also really like when i have the time to sort of really craft it. Yeah i mean. I'm fifty one now. Took me thirty years to get to that level. It's it's really quite a lot of study. I mean we've already talked about how you dug deep and became that guy that the animators were looking at actors and again geeky about that kind of stuff and drawing to similarly but But you went the other direction and got into. What's his name david. Lean and right really started studying cinematography and film and i love that so Let's let's talk. Let's go back to that. I wanna start talking about rope. Rapunzel which wasn't reprisal was reponsible became tangled And also like so you're rise there and also You know go back a little bit too that the original Question which was like well what happens to that script. And why can't a story guy. Just make that or gal make that story that's already imprint. And supposedly they liked it because they green lit production right. What what happens and use that one film as as an example. I mean that that is really great question in the. Yeah thank you for returning to not let him off the hook on that one day it i mean rapunzel is we could do. We could do hours on rapunzel and how it became tangled worked on that one. I think for six or seven years. Because i was hamster chicken little and when that end i worked it. Went and worked with glenn on reponsible which became tangled. I think there are so many examples of what you're saying. Tom like the tiny little things that happened that i mean reading a script. It's like anything you know you. You go see a movie based on a great book and say like. Why did harry potter. Why are they change the book. The book was perfect and right there just so many things that happen..

Frontiers of Haydn included a thunderstorm in the last movement of evening his symphony number eight. Marches is thunder and blazes. Boulos Food Chick. The thunder stuff comes at the very beginning. Henry fillmore wrote a march called Rolling Thunder. There was a composer in John Fields. Day who wrote a piano concerto called the storm so field decided to top him with a concerto called. The fire caused by the storm. Sure not only does field have thunder and rain. You can also hear the fire exploding. When Richard Strauss put a thunderstorm into his Alpine symphony he went all out. Strauss included parts for a wind machine and a thunder sheet a large piece of flexible metal. That you shake to make the sound of thunder. Even voices can imitate a thunderstorm in his saint. Matthew Passion Johann Sebastian Bach has a double chorus saying the German words. Blitzer and Donna. But this has nothing to do with reindeer. "Would ban expenses as small as buying a client a cup of coffee is that true well you know it's interesting because they're talking about buying a cup of coffee that's not what they were doing they were buying you know these huge lavish gift boxes and every you know and everything else so i think it's an argument that's being made that's actually not what actually they're doing and so i think it's important to see it as it is as i've said they're permitted to do appropriate marketing and advertising expenditures and if they have an appropriate marketing event where they bring their clients and potential clients and they can have you know reasonable amounts of food in there so yes they can do it so i think that is as you say a red herring is there anything else that we can learn from the example of other states in terms of how they regulate the title insurance market that we should look to maybe not now but in the future emulating here in new york i mean i think that's an interesting question is this what i've done in new york is actually you know a critically important for new yorkers but other states have done very good things to to reduce closing costs other states have done regulations or guidance like like i have on the meals and entertainment type expenditures some states have capped the percentage of premiums the title agents can get and we don't have we don't have that connecticut is one of those states that does that so they they reduced closing costs by capping the amount of the premium that the title agent can get in new york they get eighty five percent of the overall premium that the title agent gets some states have a sixty percents some have seventy percent cap on that that has brought rates down but other states have even banned title insurance entirely and they do it you could use blockchain to do it for example and you just have it as a public recording matter than the government operates so there's there are a lot of different variations but we're all concerned about high costs of of closing to new home voters also refinancing we're talking with maria boulos she's the superintendent of financial services for the state of new york appointed by the.
