"The greatest influence upon you? This is a really fun question. For a lot of our guests, of course, it's their father, for some, it was football coach. It was their training sergeant. It was for Jack Carr, the former seal, the author of terminal list. He said it was fictional characters, heroes that he read stories about in your life, who the people who helped you understand the definition of what it is to be a man. You know, I was very fortunate to grow up in a time and place in America where I was surrounded by positive good male role models and most of these guys were military veterans. They had come back from either World War II or Korea. They were my coaches, my teachers, and a lot of guys at my church, when I grew up, we went to church every Sunday and my parents must have gone around to all the other families in search and said, if you see little Charlie doing anything, you shouldn't be doing. You kick his butt and then tell us and we'll do it again. Because I probably got disciplined by every guy in that church as a rambunctious young man. But those guys very often would pull me aside and say, you know, I see something special in you, and you've got what it takes. And that kind of affirmation coming from guys that combat veterans and things like that was very powerful in my life. And when they would take me camping or take me with them to work or hire me to work around their ranch, I was soaked up manhood from watching them. And I think that's something that our kids really don't get these days anymore, unfortunately. Our kids are going to have role models. One way or another. And God forbid it's something like sports star that paints his hair blue or some idiot on TV. There are plenty of positive male role models out there. I just think we've got to work a little harder to get our sons around those guys.

Show some action. Show some action that, okay, you indict Trump, BLM is going to get indicted in Louisiana and Arkansas. We need action. We need perp walks. We need handcuffs. We need sentencing. We investigations. I don't like talking this way, but they're laughing at us because they say, oh, we get to indict you and you guys send press releases. Exactly. But done are the days where, you know, this is what I've been calling on for this Congress. Stop sending letters. The January 6th committee showed us the powerful congressional subpoena. Don't issue 5. Issue 500 and issue them to Alvin Bragg. Don't give him a letter that allows him to a podium on the national stage to be like, you guys are buffoons. Alvin Bragg is basically admitted he used federal funds to bring this case against Donald Trump. There's your hook and there's no more powerful subpoena right now than a congressional one because the DA's and state attorneys aren't acting. So those guys in leadership positions in Congress have to go after Alvin Bragg and say, we want all of your evidence, all of your records, all of your finances, and you have to sit in the hot seat for days on end under oath. "Perhaps, really clean out the swamp with a vengeance where we've seen the weaponization of the FBI, the weaponization of the Department of Justice. I saw where James Comey made some comment about president Trump's indictment. Again, revealing that this guy should have already been in jail himself. In the last couple of weeks, this was coming. As you've talked to your colleagues on the left, Democrats on the judiciary committee, did any of them admit privately congressman Moore that this is wrong or are they just taking the same public stance privately as they're saying, oh no, nobody's above the law or is Nancy Pelosi says, president Trump has to now prove his innocence, reflecting that she is clueless about how the American justice system works. Yeah, you know, I have friends some on the other side of the aisle and I haven't been here that long, but I hear romulans, they're kind of concerned, especially as we begin to release the January 6th tapes and that showed that a lot of the narrative didn't fit what the January 6th committee put out there. I think in general, they're concerned about how this the left keeps hijacked in the party and trying to weaponize certain sectors of the government, especially the DoJ, the RS, like you said, other agencies to come after people with opposing viewpoints. And even the damsel libertarians within the party, they have to see they have to have a problem they have to understand that this is not good for the country. "DA who again an unfair DA can present just one side of the story. And we already know that with this DA in Manhattan, there are documents that have not been presented to the grand jury that would tend to exonerate president Trump, one of the lawyers for Michael Cohen has said and testified before the grand jury apparently shocked them with all the documents that he was relaying to them that had not been shared by this corrupt DA to the grand jury making this decision, they can literally indict a ham sandwich if they want to. Yeah, I mean, Steve, they get to tell one side of the story and it reminds me of the old matlock show. When matlock's client would be a defendant and boy it would look that there's no way around it. The guys guilty of matlock would actually present the evidence and get him out. That's the situation here. And I think in addition to that, I think the bigger, more concerning issue is this DA ran, saying he was going to arrest Donald Trump. So he delivered on campaign promise which Democrats never do, but in this situation, he's doing it at the peril of what I think is the country and confidence of the American people in the justice system. And I say it backfires on them. I can't wait till November where people get to voice their opinion on what they think about this. "Like Trump, but I don't think he necessarily is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. And I wouldn't have brought this indictment. That said, Trump isn't like a peer in this. He probably falsified business records. He probably did the payoff to help his campaign. So you probably did have sex with stormy Daniels. And he has a history of adultery, his second wife, he added a fair with while he was still married with his first wife, his second wife, Mark. So it's in his character. So is he guilty of a crime? Not necessarily, but he's maybe all there's this pure guy who did the absolutely nothing wrong no. I mean, he paid her off to probably help his campaign and you falsified signals of business record. Does that mean it's necessarily a crime? No. I wouldn't have brought the diamond, but he's not pure and innocent. Well, nobody has to prove that they're pure and innocent in a court of law or in the court of public opinion. You talk about he's not moral. Do we believe stormy Daniels when she said she had sex with him or when she's repeatedly said she didn't and she was just looking for money, which story stormy Daniels story do you want to believe?

I can't believe I'm even saying these words out loud when he surrenders in Lower Manhattan. Now there's been a debate about whether or not he'll be handcuffed. Of course he's going to be under the guidance or the care of the Secret Service to protection of the Secret Service. I guess they have to accompany him as he goes through this the indignities of this process, Arthur, will he be handcuffed or not? If I'm betting $20. You have a whopping 20. I'm going to say no. You don't think I'm going to say. No, there's a lot of discretion. There's a lot of discretion, even if Donald Trump wanted to be here for the photo op of it all. I don't see it happening. I see the Secret Service stepping in. You know, it's interesting. You talk about jail, right? Imagine he did get sentenced to jail. Imagine get sentenced to one week in jail. It was the Secret Service guy going to sit in the jail cell with him.

"Thank you for your clarity on this. Is it difficult to show support for common sense and the rule of law when it comes to an indictment of the guy that you would like to beat ostensibly in 2024? Is that a does that put you in a tough position? I think it puts some politicians in a tough position. I'm frankly, I'm not in this as a professional politician. I'm in this to speak truth. Right. And so it wasn't hard for me to say that, yes, I'm running a defeat Donald Trump in this election. But what happened to him was wrong. It is a national disaster. I woke up this morning. I'm not being I'm not trying to be hyperbolic here. I literally felt like I woke up to a country that is not the country that I learned to pledge allegiance to as a kid. We are not a nation that allows the party in power to use police force to arrest its political opponents. That's exactly what's happening here. This is the stuff of banana republics. And I don't care if you're on the left or the right or you're running against Trump or not. We're running. I'm running to lead a country that safeguards certain values. And if those values are going to be gutted, what really matters is protecting that more than some electoral outcome. And so is it more convenient for some of us if Trump is in this race or is compromised? Sure, but put that to one side. I think that this politicized prosecution needs to end Alvin Bragg needs to put this case back on the shelf where it belongs. If this were anyone else other than Trump, it would have been charged as a misdemeanor at most. And I think that's wrong.

"That going up. And I'm an old sentimental kind of guy, especially the older I get, you know, I've always said, you know, store openings kind of thing, oh wow, your store's opening, great. But baseball baseball, right? It's baseball. You know, the field of dreams, you know, kind of failing. I mean, it's just ingrained a little bit into our is in our psyche. The movie feel the dreams has so many, you know, just great stories about how baseball is just sort of ingrained into our psyche. Yeah, I mean, unfortunately, the game has its like dips because, you know, it's harder for kids to want to play because it's a slow game. But like, I have like, I had the memory of hearing it on the and I know I'm not old enough where it was only on radio. Neither are you. But there's the idea that my grandparents would be on their deck. We'd all be in the pool, we'd come out of the pool, sit down and have lunch and the game would be on inside and on the radio and you're just listening to the game and like your uncles are losing their mind over a bad call or something. And it's summertime and springtime and like that, that's just what baseball encompasses.

I want to go to I have a lot to take in some games in summer but when we up here, especially Yankee, just simply because of the historical nature of the stadium. But, you know, it's funny though. You sort of draw the line up here. You know, I can't tell you, James, and you, of course, lived up here, and you know, I don't know if I've ever been in New York, talk to a cabbie, talk to a Nathan's hot dog win or anybody that didn't have an opinion. You know, I asked him, you know, maths or Yankees. There's always an opinion. Oh yeah. Yeah. Let me make this clear. There's the unfortunate. Okay, the unfortunate side of being a met fan is that you really can't say anything. Because you have two championships. And in one of the, and then one of the World Series you went to, you lost to the Yankees in 2000. The Yankees have 87 championships and they have all the prize, even though it was whatever back then. The point is, though, that the Yankees have everything and we have nothing. But the few things we do have are cherished and it is very, I mean, look, there are probably more Yankee fan in the mets fans, but they will give you their opinion. And it will be rude, no matter what it is. It's never gonna be like, it'll be like, ah, screw air and judge. For no reason. He's done nothing wrong for that guy. But you hate him because he doesn't play for you.

"Things about growing up in the south or way where you might grow up into something universally unites it. And especially for young people playing baseball young boys, softball baseball. For me, it was baseball, getting that first glove, getting the ball, going out and throwing, you know, molding the glove, the way you wanted it to fit around your hand, you know, just getting put it under the pill, putting the oil, the glove oil under on the glove, getting it bent in, then putting it under your bed, you don't get it where it would be real lose. You wanted it is loose. You could be, those are all great memories of baseball and today, as we talk about Friday sinus this week, yesterday was the opening day of Major League Baseball. It is a lot of changes. We're going to talk about some of the changes in the rules. We're going to talk about the teams. And just go over a lot of what's going on. So James, by way, doctor Texas on my way of New Jersey and a mets fan at that, welcome back James, it's time to dig into baseball today. I'm not sure I like the way you said a mets fan at that. That's if they're lesser than. No, no. No, that's funny. So I'm gonna guess you grew up a braves fan. You better believe it. So you were so Hank Aaron is like your guy. Now, hey Gary, you know, he's amazing. I mean, but I grew up in the town. Here's the funny part about baseball in Atlanta, okay? As opposed to as you well know, and everybody on this podcast is harder than they see it. Sometimes in the background when I'm taping. I am a falcons fan because in Atlanta, basically falcons and the braves came to Atlanta at the same time. The file comes, however, are just the falcons. And so I'm also very much of a raiders fan and enjoy watching football. When it comes to baseball, baseball, I've always been a braves fan.

Inviting Your Child Into the Easter Story
"What I love what you're accomplishing with the book, ten days of the Easter story. And you guys, you're so intentional with this, is how to get your kids starting right from the get go. Emotionally healthy. I'd so appreciate that, 'cause I don't think his parents, you know, we want them to be in sports. We want them to do these things that demonstrate their physical well-being and their physical acuity. And I don't know that I don't think I was as in tune with their emotional health. As you guys are coaching parents to be. And I think, man, it should probably start right there. Yeah. Emotionally healthy children. So when you look at connecting the Easter story for them to be emotionally healthy, how does that work? Well, one of the things we wanted to do was we wanted to take the Easter story and we wanted to look at what was actually happening, right? Researchers show that thinking, feeling and relating at the same time is where true growth happens. So in other words, if I'm just sitting in a classroom and I'm hearing somebody lecture, there's a cognitive thing going on. But if there's not great stories or I'm not emotionally engaged, I'm not as likely to remember what's being taught. That's like a speaker, an effective speaker. They're going to engage your emotion and there's thinking feeling and then there's also relating. I'm entering into a relationship is why therapy is so effective is because it, you know, or at least good, healthy relationships, small groups where you're doing life with people in your church because there's relational things happening. And so what we really wanted to do was give parents another tool to be able to take their children through the devotion of Easter to teach them the truths of scripture, but then to also help their children enter into that story and to think about what is it that the characters or the people during that week during that time of life, what were they experiencing? What were they actually feeling? What was actually going on and what are ways that you experienced that feeling today.

"What do you think about the possibility of nuclear war? I feel like we had this question a month ago. I'm a begin it. Well, I think most people know that because we're living in crazy times, anything is possible. And I think that, first of all, if you think of Kim Jong-un in North Korea, that guy is a straight up madman, he is allied with China, I don't even think you need to think about Putin, Putin is enough of a malefactor that I don't think he would hesitate. I don't know. One thing I do know, I put my trust in God. I think that we're not supposed to live in fear, first of all, I'm not afraid of death because I believe that Jesus defeated death on the cross. And that by faith in him, we never die. I actually believe that's true. And so I think we should never be scripture says be anxious for nothing. So realistically, these things are possible. We don't know what the future holds. Our job is to do our job, to praise God, to obey him, to live heroically, bravely, freely, and what happens is not up to us. We're just to do our job.

"Junior. Well, he seems to understand deep state corruption better than anyone. When Trump is reelected, I think he should select RFK junior as his deep state czar, what do you say, Eric? Well, first of all, there is no such thing as a deep state czar. So somebody who have to create that term, I listen, I believe Trump will be reelected. And I believe that the reason they're coming after him is because the deep state recognizes him as the ultimate threat.
