Legal Process (MM #3961)

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason, no matter where it is, no matter what side of the coin, you can't find anybody who thinks our legal process is fair, is just. It doesn't matter how big how important a trial is. It's just kind of strange sometimes why some things take so long by some things get pushed through so quickly and why some things even happen. Now this is totally frivolous, but two movie fans are suing universal for $5 million over an actress being cut from the movie yesterday in 2019 on a de Armas was featured in the previews for the movie, but her character was cut at the last minute because test audiences didn't really like her in there. But these two people are honored the army's fans, so they need lots of money because they lost 20 bucks or 30 bucks or whatever it took to go to the movies. Talk about a reason why people don't like the legal system before we even get into big important details like a roe versus wade, like the ability for D.C. to vote, the court system has to deal with things like this. That's why the legal process is so messed up.

"I think it would make him more at peace with his, with his issues. He's got serious issues. Any Republican that associates with Bill Gates, you got serious problems. Okay, cut 26 Bill Gates wishes happy lunar year to China and embraces the Tiger symbol for vitality and health. This is unbelievable. This clip is so incredible. Bill Gates, he is, he's part of there's an archetype that all these people fill, right? And Bill Gates definitely fills the master of the universe type archetype. Now, I am not a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio's new movie on Netflix. Don't look up. Have you saw this Conor? But I will say that there is one actor, and there is one role in that movie. That screams Bill Gates. It's the billionaire adviser to the president who kind of has this beta male like fake way of kind of showing strength. Here's Bill Gates complimenting China. Play cut 26. I want to wish everyone in China, a very happy lunar new year. Just as the Tiger symbolizes vitality and health, our foundation has continued to work over this past year. The reason troubling and highly contagious on the variant means the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over. Since the onset of the pandemic, China has worked hard to not only contain the virus, but also contributed to closing the equity gap by supporting other countries with many different supplies, including great vaccines. Americans' Biggest Problems Have Nothing to Do With Russia and Ukraine

"Do you think that people in Oklahoma? Iowa Vermont, New Hampshire, wherever do you think that they're waiting up at night and they say, yeah, you know, it's okay that things cost 25% more. Gas prices are through the roof. I have to go into debt just to be able to feed my family. But what really bothers me is the fact that Russia might want to try and reclaim some of the territory they think is theirs in a border dispute 5000 miles away. I'd say this is probably a 99 one issue. 99% of Americans couldn't care less and you have the 1% of people that do care, they happen to make all the decisions. And they are involved in appropriating the resources to try to make you care. Now we're no fans of Russia, here on the show obviously. Russia has been antagonistic towards America. Russia has a different form of government. They are not a constitutional republic. I do think some of the criticisms though of Russia on American cable television is hilarious and laughable. Where you have some people that go on and TV they say, we hate Russia because they don't have fair and free elections. Yeah, we wouldn't know anything about that.

For 95% of People, College Is a Scam and a Waste of Time

"Of people, college is a scam and a waste of time. Okay, let me just get into it. I say this is so I'm the best and the worst person to talk about this. But I'm going to pretend I'm the best. I'm going to tell you why the words. I didn't go to college. Therefore, I'm the best person to tell you what you could do without going to college, right? But then people say, oh, trial, you don't know what you're talking about, because you haven't gone. Okay. And I'll fairness what Lauren 160 schools I've spoken at and we have thousands of groups across the country. I have a pretty good pulse of what's happening on college campuses, right? Okay. Your question was about politics. I got to it in a second. But let me just kind of say this. Unless you're willing to play Russian roulette with your beautiful child's values and future, do not send them to college. And the chamber is 5 bullets in one blank. It's that simple. I need parents all the time. And the thing that I always ask them without a doubt, I could see it in their eyes. Charlie, I'm such a big fan. And my kids, I stop them. Say, how many share your values? And most say half. I said, well, where did they go to college? And they say, well, yeah, of course I lost my college at them. The Texas, Oklahoma, it's one of the great moral tragedies of our time that no one really wants to say out loud is that you raise your child in a way that you want them to go. You put all of this energy in their homeschooling upbringing to go send them to some school to get what a piece of paper like really? It's totally unnecessary in most fields, completely and totally unnecessary. Now if you want to be a doctor a lawyer and engineer, fine, but to go study like North African lesbian poetry to like, I don't quite get it. I don't. You will learn nothing of use in most colleges, nothing. Take hillsdale

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason, now that most of us are staying closer to home, I watch more sports than what I used to. I've always watched sports, but I'm not an avid football fan, but this year I probably watch more football than I have in decades. And I watch more baseball and I watch a little bit more basketball and just more sports in general because we're spending a little bit more time at home. And of course, we live in a state where they can do sports betting, so I literally watch a lot of sports betting commercials. Before the game, during the game, and after the game. But what I really wonder is how we can keep almost a gambling out of the sports. I noticed more of the announcers talking about the gambling talking about the sports betting, talking about the odds. I've seen it more over the years in NASCAR as it became more popular, it became more prevalent. And I wonder what happened to our society, because I remember years ago when I was living in Virginia and there was a big brouhaha about bringing the state lottery in. Lotteries don't seem to be as big a deal anymore. I'm missing the point here somewhere, but gambling doesn't seem to be as big issue in the Bible belt as it used to be. Is it just me or as the world really changed?

The Canceling of Conservatives in Hollywood

"I think I told you about the story when some years ago a scout locator came to my house and said we're going to film a movie next door to your house. We like to use your property for catering services. So we negotiated a deal to do that. And the day they were shooting and they never saw a film being shot before, I'm on my front steps watching them shoot. The film was starring Antonio Banderas. And who's the actress is married to Warren Beatty? Mister McConnell, advent, thank you. And by the way, I had an interesting conversation with Antonio Banderas. He had a Terry cloth, white Terry cloth robot, smoking a cigarette, sitting in my driveway, where I were having a chat. It's kind of interesting. So as I'm on my step watching them film, the head of the catering services comes over to me, and we start talking, he tells me he enjoys a show and so forth, but nobody could hear it because we so far away. So about 6 months later I get a phone call from him while I'm on the show. And he said, Larry, you remember me? I was at your house and came up to your steps. We were talking. I said, yes, he said I haven't worked since then. I said, what do you mean? He said, well, no one could tell what we were talking about, but clearly because I came over to you. It was obvious that I'm a fan of yours. I haven't worked since then.

'My Guess Is He Will Move In': Biden Predicts Russia Will Invade Ukraine

"What was the major takeaway of this entire press conference? Where Joe Biden half threatened Putin, but at the same time, it's like, well, it depends what he does, and he's probably going to do something. We have that sound racist. He's probably going to do something. He said something of that variation. He said, yeah, look, he's probably going to invade in some way, shape or form. Yeah, you know, only I wish Joe Biden was so concerned about the invasion of America. Isn't it telling? And I just want you to think about this and maybe you're listening to this and you support a ground war with Russia. Maybe you think that it would be wonderful for the American project to have a hot war with what probably top 5 military on the planet. I want you to think deeply though why is it the entire press corps? Relentlessly asked questions about whether Putin is going to invade Russia and yet no one seems to care about 2 million people invaded America across our southern border this last year. Why is that? Now, I am no fan of most Republicans, however, I will tell you one thing that strong Republicans are for. I'm going to answer Joe Biden's question. Play cut 69. I did not anticipate that there'd be such a stalwart effort to make sure that the most important thing was that President Biden didn't get anything done. Think about this. What did Republicans for? What are they for? Maybe one thing they're for. I will, the constitution, most of them actually care about the constitution. And I know you love freedom and want the defendant, and I know you love the constitution, unlike Joe Biden, and we just answered his question. Joe

A Nation in Crisis Is Not a Nation Prepared for War

"Start with cut 67 Biden on Russia invading Ukraine saying it depends on what it does. It's one thing if it's a minor incursion cut 67. So I think what you're going to see is that Russia will be held accountable. If it invades and it depends on what it does, it's one thing if it's a minor incursion, and then we end up having to fight about what to do and not do, et cetera. So that's all of a sudden where the neoconservatives and the media began to lose their mind. Now, Biden plays the role of a neocon. He doesn't even do that well. He doesn't even do the war mongering thing well. He contradicts the own regime's narrative that they want to go to war with Russia. Now, I have my own personal opinion of kind of Joe Biden's. Let's say 45 years in D.C. that I think he deep down knows that a ground war with Russia is actually really bad for his presidency right now, and I think deep down he's wrestling with that. I think deep down Joe Biden and Jill Biden are trying to push back against the Jake Sullivan Jen Psaki, the Tony blinken and the Lloyd Austin kind of beat the drums of war that we need to kind of posture and send tomahawk missiles to some meadow in western Russia to prove how strong we are or whatever it is the national security establishment does. Now, I'm no fan of Russia. And we've gone through this in great detail. But a nation in crisis is not a nation prepared for war. I want to say that again, a nation in crisis that we are, we are not prepared nor should we be prepared. To try and deter, which comes from a Latin word push back or to reject Vladimir Putin's incursions on Ukraine.

Now says, in fact, they are, so I don't know whether they initially said no, they weren't going to renew it. And then the fit hit the Shan, her fans, contacted them and they changed their mind, or whether or not the story was wrong in the first place. I don't know. "I was. You know even remotely at saint the battlefield. That was like who gives a shit. It's the future now. Everything's in the future now. So all right. So sorry yeah. Let's let's move on here so for some fucking reason. Verizon was there by jiri rise in the entire time. Now you know when you watch e three conference and someone some talking head for sony's like before we continue. We just wanna bring out our friends from verizon to talk about five g with you and then some celebrity comes out and says man. I love five g. It makes your game super fast. Look what five g. can do for these streamers let me see a bunch of streamers saying whoa shod thank you five gene and then they all right. Thank you friend at verizon. Fuck off now. Here's a video game. No instead verizon had their their conference where they just talked about five g. and then they brought a football player out and he's like yeah man. I love playing madden. Ben thank you. it's so basic. Thank you for bringing me here. They lease it was just a thirty minute commercial for five g. In the middle of this video game conference it was fucking hilarious and guess what it was followed up by another really shitty showcase for in television in televisions an old old very very old video game company from backing late seventies early eighties and all that shit. They got eaten alive by nintendo. But apparently they're coming back now with a new video game console it Shit grow and it only plays like shovel wear looking games. And they're very clear that it's a council that you're just you're supposed to just have it at your house from for. When you have non gamer guests come over like grandma or like your uncle or a priest and you sit there and play like the games replays the fish with the flash games and you have to eat the little fish to get bigger. It's shit like that wasn't it. Looks so bad it's booth the what's the one thing i saw a a gameboy essentially you what. I'm talking about. Plead eight is that yes. We talked about that. Line the eight again we have. You covered that in the last episode. I'm very excited for that. I actually also 'cause. I bought pokemon crystal the other day for like ten bucks would enjoy. I mean you have on the. I'm getting on the tangent laura. That's just don't play a lot of crystal resentment. I feel you man. I i you know what i think. Crystal crystal is like neck and neck with red turn from favorites. I love. I love those games. Ooh that kinda sounds cool. I'll go check it out and it's you get what you get now. I'm going to be a little more careful about. It would revisit it in six months feel but i like before i wouldn't know what i was seeing next. Now it's like okay black widow and then green night and then we'll take it from there. Yeah so the month on the show for everyone who is listening and if you weren't listening than go back and do so because you're absolutely shame on you. Because he missed some really strong episodes. It was obscure horror movie remake month. One of the ones we did not talk about. Because the remake hasn't come out yet and i don't know if i would categorize it as obscure is the toxic avenger remake who argue both fans of good old taxi..

"Experience for an actor. In you know. I have never been in the situation. That phoebe was in but i think like as a woman it would just. I'd have such a relief to know that like you were there. Another woman was there in between me and a male director to just be like we're in this together. I've got you so i really i do. I think i would need that. Yeah you know is been a lot of time with dv by that point. you know. we've done. I think that's absolutely. We actually shot all of castle howard in the system mental too. So that's the entire taylor. Swift montage was done and completed By the end of august maybe that explains why they had such great chemistry our show 'cause they set it off with you know having literal chemistry and so by the time that we got sue That particular scene. We knew each other. Pretty well at that point She knew that she could come up with anything that she needed. And you know we we work together but it was incredibly brave of cb to take that scene on. Because you're not working with anyone else you know with a with other into disease you've got pot-heads sort of light bounce ideas off to to collaborate with to create choreography whiz Bone not seen. You know you're you're on your own and there's no one does no announcing debt with you so it was an incredibly brave and very vulnerable saying that that cv. Took on so much respect. The i mean. I have so much respect for her. I'm i'm upping cardio. These days to keep the at her level to be honest Anyway you know before this. I told you lizzy that. I called my best friend and said that you were coming on. And she's super excited. And you know the reason why i did that. So many people are loving the sex scenes so much. So what's work like for you now. Are you getting people banging down your door asking you to coordinate their their movies. These days in tv show hicks up. I think because of covid There's so many more sort of like hurdles to and i. I've been really interested to see if we hadn't had down what it would like. I know that a lot of people are delaying into see scenes Until much further on down the line. And i think the interesting thing is that i don't really believe that any affect kost crew knew how massive it was going to be one of the bridge sneezes. We knew that we had a really solid brazilian fantasies which was really cool. They supported us throughout the whole filming. they will always sending really encouraging messages that we knew that we had like very specific fan base in brazil. You're just loving so hot on the cost which is really lovely to see but honestly i think today the stats came out that you know. It's seen by a two million households and when we were filming. I don't believe any of us had any idea that would be the case. Okay it was the seems like a no-brainer question but Will you be back for Season two because i have to zoom a bunch more sexist app and he read the book. I haven't read the book but my one of my colleagues has yes. There's more sex and said ali is as can you give us any insight into that if there some sort of sexy but you're looking for to choreographing is like i know that they take the books on the tv shows in different directions because not everything that was in. The book was in the tv series of not razors book So that's always really exciting because you don't know which pieces that they've taken and which they're going to be completely new so i'm really really looking forward to all right well lizzy before we go. I live just say thank you so much. This has really made my week and also i want to advocate that if you were in the writer's room at all for season two that the duke of hastings should marry me in that should be coming onto brinson to it. So that's it that's all i have to say. Thank you so much. I think there's a queue line. Is my instagram messages. Anything to go by my god. It's mostly tuned into like proxy proposal account the surrogate points. I'm sure i mean that man. Little that i had to get water water so anyway. Well thank you so much. Thank you for your work. Thank you for sharing space with us. Thank you for giving us a brigitta me. Guys have since learned that. The duke of hastings reggae on page will not be back for season two. It's very heartbreaking. We're hopeful but we're hopeful that lizzie will at least be back to make sure that there are still some good sex in britain. I'm sure she'll be there for us. I'm sure also the other season one lead phoebe. Denver is now dating pete davidson which is kind of wild. But they seem happy so good for them good for the next. We're talking about another fantastic series return to hulu for its final season last month. The show developed a massive following among both fans and critics because it brought us something we haven't seen before a fat positive heroine portrayed by the amazing eighty bryant. We got a chance to chat with series creator and executive producer. Lindy west ahead of julius. Hi lindie thank you. So much for joining us today hound. Thanks for having me. So i just wanted to say congratulations on the season. It were big fans and so excited for it to come back but it's also bittersweet because it's the final season the show is obviously very personal for you. It's based on your memoir. So what's the process of saying goodbye to have been like. Oh great question. I mean it's definitely bittersweet. We never wanted to be like a thirteen season. Show or something. We always envisioned it as kind of a small compact a little story. i think. Ideally we would've loved to do four seasons so ended slightly prematurely. We did have some other places. We wanted to take the character but also getting to do three seasons and so amazing and such a gift. So i don't know. I feel very happy with what we made and getting to make it at all is so rare you know and obviously to really miss all these characters and i'm gonna miss the whole team because everyone is so special but i also feel you know i. I realized this the other day that shrill the book came out five years ago next week and now this week five years later the show is closing. Yeah and it feels very kind of clean and beautiful in this way and it's making me feel very excited about the future like i have this pause all of a sudden and i don't quite know what i'm gonna do next. I have a bunch of options. And i get to really look around and think about what i really actually want to do. And that's really exciting so obviously sad of the show is over. But i'm like very energized and really excited about the future and so grateful for the show has opened up so many opportunities for me. So i got. I got no complaints so after three seasons. Do you still feel like annie's sort of extension of you or do you think that.

"The That we've seen is crazy in almost in in large amount of markets across the us. Yup i and i think one of the things that you nailed right there so Dillon i are both Fans members of bigger pockets. It's one of our I wish i wish they knew who. We were But we knew who they are. And we're both fans kinda where we garnered a lot of our information able to discuss. There's a lot of other avenues out there to fill in details about very specific parts of real estate. And we're not gonna get into all that kind of stuff like note investing and all. There's this big picture stuff and how it affects pilots and aviation professionals. But one of the things that you have to do like you're saying is you have to kind of break down the y you're getting into like you did early on. You said you wanted to look at it and you wanted to set yourself up for success after this was done you watched your brother kind of go along and see what he was doing and realize that you're going to probably do financially. You're going to have a more secure financial future than football coach. I mean that's not everybody goes the bill. Bella checkout win seven super bowls and bright zone check and even now for those of you who are football fans out there. This year was not a very good year for the new england patriots because of all sorts of reasons. Maybe it's tom brady leading or whatever the case is bill. Belichick is obviously not going to get fired from the patriots. But if the downhill trajectory has started for his career he's going to retire. That's bill belichick. A high school football coach. Jv level has got to work his way up to get to just being a varsity football coach to actually make a like a salary. A decent salary off of this. How else how. Better to invest in yourself then in real estate. Because here's the other thing and you brought it up investing in the stock market if you put a thousand dollars a year in the in the stock market and that's all you put in year in and year out. You're not gonna have a huge sum of money when it's time to retire and that money is essentially locked up. There's no way to pull it out if you take a thousand dollars and you find a way to use it to invest in real estate and that might be okay. I can't afford a really big place. But i could get something that's really small. I can do. Fha loan. There's all sorts of avenues for financing. Again there's lots of different ways to find out back on of stuff but you're not going to be able to find opportunity to get into it and this is definitely geared right towards the younger folks out there who are brand new to this but the in your own living place that you see especially if you're if you're a military person and you can get zero down loan in the. Va put it towards a house that you wanna live in..

"We don't know what black widow ties into right. I mean it feels like you need to see. I if i had to gas i would think like it does tie in somehow i feel like black widows gotta have some like repercussions going forward especially when we get like a mid credits or post credit scene. I feel like it has to have some kind of ripples in the mcu going forward. It will brian you. You mentioned aim a lot of people think. there's some kind of aim collectively. There's some thunderbolt connectivity. There's a lot of things that i think are going to directly. Refer to falcon and the winter soldier. And i ever saw like argument. I was back and forth on our latest episode of the other guys are big one division fans and i think it's basically because this is the first thing they're getting you know i know spiderman came after an game for all intensive purposes. Ed game is the most impactful. Most recent marvel released we had. I had to remind them like guys look. This was not supposed to be. The first thing we were supposed to have black widow were supposed to have or soldier things that were going to be very direct tangible results on the current. Mcu timeline. they're people getting going and seeing what the world's they post endgame besides just spider man who had his mysterious thing but getting walk division. Gets you this existential. And if you're not a sitcom fan like someone like. Brian is a paul's personal on the gold. Sitcoms up were both fans of so i. I think that makes a big tangible difference. In the reaction people are having all these properties and their overall feeling on. How the us being kickstarted in their in their viewpoint. I if you're watching one division through the lens of. I don't give a fuck about any of these sitcoms and how faithful it is to like some of these sitcoms from those time periods and then also not picking up on these easter eggs in these clues or just. Don't give a fuck. You don't like it but it's gonna fuck detract me anymore. I'm all in. And i can't wait and i love it. But what do you think paul. What do you think released black widow on disney plus or do you think marvel pushes it and waits for that theatrical. The fact that they really haven't budged at all you know they're willing to bring out milan. Which isn't as big as a fan base as as black widow or anything like that. "Then you know dissent is invaluable to success. We need people to challenge. We need challenge in the room. I know that there's this It's called the tenth man. I think it started in the israeli army but it has its issues but the core. That was really interesting. It's this idea of if the military wanted to go with strategy acts and nine people in the room thought strategy exit good idea. It was the job of the tenth person to go a strategy. Why to provide the sent to create not an argument but a discussion so we can stay away from that. And i think when that happens then it stops being this. What was my idea versus your idea. There's always the centers always challenge so now. There's a collaboration Confrontation on and just that idea being okay being wrong because if we're all pulling together then there's no right or wrong there's an efficiency sake and just the beauty of being wrong. Is that the moment we say were wrong. We become right at. I think that we miss a lot is Well i've been wrong for fifteen years. You're not wrong anymore. You just gotta right from this point on. You are no longer wrong. And i think it's so important to you that the ego aspects that comes into and i was late me and the kids we talk about something the other day and my son loves the words alab. He loves gregan's not and i looked at what ego actually matt and in latin. It means it's itself into i and basically with theory behind. If you have a lot of is in your statements you have a lot of ego to what is going from that. It's about me to we asked him. And in an aspect that again is like hearted in it avoids that hobby. Tim entrenchment like he talked. Whenever we're like minded and so two from there to then go into a mission to go into a battle. You can't is that cliche. There's no team you know but there is ourselves in ourselves here so i would love to flow on that on that. Yes we're saying self management and being promoted to head coach but what it is is that we all have our roles and responsibilities for severe that we can care for chris in what were our expectations are so let salt on on how you could invite people to possibly look at maybe self management model that yes it may seem i wanted ego oriented but it's actually not it's actually selfless instead of selfish row so that i give self management of bringing awareness to me and i and how i interact in this sphere Yes i and i think that's a short term versus long term. Is that is it truly. Selfish is ego oriented. If the end goal is for you to be able to look out for somebody else that idea of we can't give away what we don't possess so if i don't possess empathy if i haven't been empathic toward myself if i have an impatient compassionate toward myself it's very difficult for me. Then give that patients to somebody else that a soldier underneath a ball player that were coaching or a leader or somebody. That's underneath us in a leadership will. i'm so self. Management is crucial for that. Because i know it's cliche statement but you have to take care of you before you can take somebody else and so yes that idea of taking care of yourself. It's not a bad thing i mean. We're the only body that we have and so to be able to have that self management leads to greater self regulation. I think then leads. A greater vulnerability It could. I think we get caught up. Oh gulnara be vulnerable. And i know you are both fans of signdance. Anakin he says being vulnerable doesn't mean we're walking around crying all day we can devote and aware of our emotions and self managed and self regulate and still being awesome human being and still compete at a high level. I think they're not mutually exclusive ideas self management self care self impassioned self regulation is not mutually exclusive from being a great leader in being a dominant competitor. It's so true and love it. You brought self-regulation so for the audience that does not know that he is in you. Explain it a little bit more and then we're out now yes so there. There are kind of to at least in my two schools of thought with that. We can think of self regulation and self control from motor learning standpoint which i briefly hit on here in just a moment. It takes about fifteen seconds but the self-regulation aspect of can we bring mindfulness to the present moment. What are the emotions. Were feeling right now. And the interesting thing that we found with self-regulation is when we did nip the emotion that we're feeling even just internally to ourselves heart rate slows down veins dilate What is pumps better. Our mind is clear person when we try to say. I'm feeling really angry right now. Don't no you're not feeling like you're fine. Good everything's good act just adds more sediment to the rock to the rock bed and so that idea of understanding where our motion state is helps with that self regulation and then on top of that which is the learning aspect we know that when we allow people choice we were talking about earlier then only they get better and not only are motivated. Their memory is better. Recall is better. We've done some studies in our lab at tennessee where we bring people back the next day that got to self regulate how they practice. They remembered more critical details about the task. We were having them learn in individuals that had everything externally imposed on them. So this idea of self regulation is not only something we can give ourselves. But it's something we can give others too and it's so important to something that i've been kind of opponent on lately is find your home state before home. Play in in the theory is that you celebrate homeo- stasis you're putting your body where a license best at a likes. It is calm and so whenever you go up to bat even if it's in work live or play you are ready in your where because your owning your environment so you can be more aware of what's coming at you. Yes is a with that. I just what some tips that you have for people to stop regulate and find ways that they can actually possibly added into their life or if they're wanting to get promoted to being the head coach line right I think i would start off with you know the ask. Why why do you in general you want to self regulate. and what is the ultimate outcome of this self-regulation on. I don't think there's anything wrong with self-regulation for the sense of self regulation but our focus follows our goals not the other way round or does not follow our focus so if i have a desire to self regulate because i want to be a better partner i to be better. You know sister brother teammate. I wanna be a better coach. Then that provides that goal where now the focus of self-regulation go there so asking. Why do we even want to self regulate the first place. I think the second thing is recognizing that it is difficult. It is very hard to self regulate so calling out the elephant in the room saying that just like the non linear pedagogy. I'm making the choice to self regulate on tuesday. Something's going to happen on wednesday. I'm gonna get upset mad. And i'm not gonna realize upset or mad until saturday and so i think the whole process of self-regulation starts with empathy for self and not only that. Why do we want to self-regulate. Because to say i want to be a person. That's wonderful but the more specific that goal can be. Why do i want a better person for my shoulder for my partner will for my teammates and continue to peel back. That onion layer and emily. I love the phrase. you use about. Have me what is it. The smallest onion possible feel. Yeah so continued ask. Why an empathy for the non linear process of learning that we as humans all have in zone to because life will throw things. Ask like you will not be after after this. Probably million homes on these shows. Is that you if you meet somebody. That says they don't have problems. They have big problems right. And it's life throws at us so many unknowns and so many variables in the muscle it is whenever we work on the self.

"On and we're both fans of documentaries, so no surprise. He's written the book docks that rock music that matters. So e. I mean, do you want to give a quick little thumbnail? Or do you want me to do it on the life of the brothers? Gibb Aziz? They, you know, ascended from That little like bowtie wearing well, let's do it and double combo thing because I feel I've known you my whole life because for one reason we've all been invested in the same music for 40 or 50 years. Exactly Right. That's the glue. Okay, um, key things about the BG's. Um Big psychic and emotional debt. Black music that goes so far back that they would their biggest influence. Certainly on was the Mills Brothers. Yeah, Great on then, Um, they end up working with incredible rangers and producers like a reef Martine, who worked with Theresa Franklin and in Dusty Springfield and the Brook Benton, But they also in 1975. I went to one of the sessions in L. A at the Los Angeles record plant. They did A. Nalbandian with the The cosmic arranger Johnny Pate, who worked with the impressions and Curtis Mayfield didn't super fight with Curtis. Study the fact that there's always been element of throbbing bass or bass or dance. In their music even before the disco music Um you slow dance, music love music, so they said, harmonies vocals. R and B. Terrain that they put in, and they also were on the best record labels. Currently, you know, universal for years with it Atlantic so they and they had management like Robert Stigwood like who came through the Brian Epstein School of Management. So you have all these factors where they have the machine working with them, but also they had the talent. And that's the rare thing. I mean, Honestly, you're you make such a great point, because like we had I had Peter Noone on like a year ago, and he I think he's in that same category. He it's He was very talented and you know, but maybe he didn't have all of the other stuff that That the BG's had or his career might have lasted longer, as opposed to, you know, a lot of great hits and successful years, but I think that's the interesting piece. Yet the it's that supporting the undergirding from all of the necessary components for a career in the recording industry in media in general. And the talent on top of that, And that's the one to be Jesus and Peter Noone were both born in Manchester, England. True, So maybe there is that violent aspect? Yeah, that's interesting. Well, I love the fact that so they but they don't actually make it in England. Not they They moved to Australia. They're teenagers pretty much when the family up and moves to Australia. And and that's that's also something you don't. I'm a lot of people associate the beaches with being an astrology Australian act when really they were They were UK the Australian them back to being UK again and that part was the that you know, there's but there were some formative years in there in Australia. Well, it, you know. Would I one of the many things I've always enjoyed about the BG's. Um and I I think I've interviewed them three times all through the seventies was in very students with them went to their midnight special tapings and Burbank, Calif. "That's how you do things you take for turn the AC on and then have the hood open and make sure both of the cooling fans are coming on if both fans are running and they should be you probably just need the AC service but it both fans are not running you you you might need AC service and one of those cooling fans are placed this is never cool down if you get the vehicle moving down the highway or anything like that it used to deliver okay another thing is that the car was moving but it was stopped this was kind of warm up okay so back to the cooling fan issue that's exactly what they did the symptoms of a bag cooling fan not working will call us the other problem the reason why I said you need to go back to like at the C. service is because of the cooling fans not coming on the high side head pressure goes extremely high for fifty five hundred PSI will eat your pop off valve a bright pop off around four fifty as well so you might over heated it last year and up to where the high side one up and blew some of the freon officer didn't blow up your compressor which is normal but yeah the first thing to check make sure you're both your fans are coming on and if one of them's not will then there's your original issue and the second issue is you probably need to get service and get the free on top back off and if you go to a place there have been a service.

"Your host kangaroo on News Radio. Seven hundred L. Weather exports runs yesterday. They got five. That's like a season's worth so far. But they lost the game sixty five to the pirates. Maybe some problems in the bullpen beginning to fester. Maybe maybe maybe honestly. Tighter. Roark was okay pitchy. Other than the one outing by Sonny gray has been. Okay. But okay is not going to cut it not against that pirates lineup. And it's a shame that you have now five runs in a game. When you've been scratching and clawing and shut out for your last three. And you can't come up with a win. Rourke went five seven hits three runs all earned four strikeouts. At a couple of walks and his wake Jared Hughes. Not that good. Zach duke. Not that good. And then of course, it was why Selig laziest in the tenth inning ninth. Any was okay tenth inning. And that was the name of that tune. And so the reds now. Are we getting yet another week with only one win under their belt? We talked a lot yesterday about what they can do what they can do is like nothing the minor league season is only three games old. There's no one at AAA that would appear to be in a position to help other than Philip Ervin playing off his spring training numbers. And I think spring training numbers as we're beginning to see some of the guys that are up here. Now on the twenty five man squad spring training numbers are very very deceiving. The last thing you should ever pay attention to in baseball are spring training results. The second to last thing you should pay any attention to or spring training numbers. We've seen it far too often. We know the game far too. Well, but there's no cavalry coming over western hills. There's nobody to bring up yesterday at least there was a sign of life offense ably and the pitching at least starting pitching was still good. But there will come a time. When starting pitching is going to go south. That's probably one of the hitting will kick in and we get into that that merry go round that only reds fans. No starting pitching. Good reds. Can't hit red start to hit. Starting pitching goes. Bad. Starting pitching returns. Bullpen goes bed. Doesn't seem to fall together all at the same time. Now, you can say that's a lack of talent. It's a talent grade that is not good enough to compete in all three phases of the game. You could also say it's the baseball. God you could say this. You could say that I will say this. This is not as bad in any way, shape or form as the start. They got off to last year because the start they got off to last year told us from jump. Their starting pitching wasn't any good. The starting pitching. Here is good hitting will come around. When the weather turns warm, not just for the reds for every team. The sad part is is that it's coming around for a lot of teams right now in baseball. The sad part is the reds needed to come around from jump because. The last thing they needed was the buzz the interest the intrigue in what they did in the off season. The last thing they needed was for that to go away from opening day, and an essence, that's what's happened. We saw it last week. We saw it last week Tuesday night was a miserable night. There were seven thousand people in that ballpark seven thousand and chain which leads you to believe that they've sold about seven thousand season tickets that is an inordinate Louis. Low number for any major league baseball team. That means you're core fan base is seven thousand people there weren't seven thousand people in that park. That's what they announced because that's their season ticket base. Men if you're Bob Castellini and the suits that are trying to make go on the business side. That's that's a frightening number. And for all intents and purposes, certainly Madonna's incense standpoint they're in competition with another team here in town that wins. Now, you could say soccer and baseball or apples and oranges. But no both fan bases. Spend green. So the green new deal between the reds and FC Cincinnati is who's competing for the fringe fan. Not a hardcore fan that soccer knee STA. I've gotta go soccer's by Gabe. I'm going to go come hell or high water, and I don't give a rat's rear end about the reds and the Bengals soccer's my game. Not that guy. Not the guy that says I got red season tickets. I'm going to the reds games. Soccer. What's that? You wanna watch soccer go over to England and watch soccer, not that guy. It's the fringe fan who decides on a daily basis am I spending my disposable income on soccer or baseball or a movie or a trip to kings island or a day in the park. That's the guy that makes it go for any major export. Even the Bengals are beginning to find that out. Now, the Bengals can Marvin Lewis because they thought that he was just the wrong touch for that team at this time and the fan base was revolting took them awhile to come to Jesus on that one. But that's where they got to last year. And that's why they fired Marvin Lewis they saw what was happening inside their stadia the stadium. And even though the TV money was great. They knew to get the pulse of the public around here bat they had to do something drastic. And that's what they did. Well, the reds did something drastic in this offseason. They made that trade with the dodgers they traded for Sonny gray, gray zoo. A guy that looked like this the bright lights of New York. Got to go back to what he did in Oakland sunny gray looks pretty good sunny gray look terrific in his second start of the season. All that buzz all of that excitement. It's gone flying out the window at a time when this team desperately needs it to recapture the rapture here in Cincinnati. So that's the game. They're playing right now. Sure, they're happy. They scored five runs last night. Sure. Finally offensively. They showed a pulse which you've got one win got one win. And unfortunately until they start winning and winning consistency. The five years of atrophy that this team has gone through will Trump anything anything that they do in the next six months, even maybe through this season? They've got to start winning and winning consistently. And they have not out of the gate whose fault is that. I don't know. I don't think you fix five years of sins with one off season. It's the same thing the Bengals are going through. You can't fix all the things that have gone wrong with that team over the last three or four seasons with one off season one draft one pedestrian free agent signing period. Can't do it not unless you're going to spend wildly start buying players here. And there if you had a chance to ask George Steinbrenner before he left this earth, and I did about the wisdom of trying to buy a championship team. And this was back in the mid nineties. His answer was can't do it doesn't work you get players in here, you keep your core players that are going to win and you build around them. But he said we can't go back to what we were trying to do in the eighties. It doesn't work anymore. You can't get enough money to make it work. Well, if he can't work in New York, it can't work here in Cincinnati. You have to, cultivate, you gotta get players through your minor league system. And at the major league level is quickly as possible. The reds have always struggled with doing that the number that came out this week about the number of Tommy John surgeries that this team has encountered over the last three years. No, number bigger in major league baseball twenty one of those things is an indictment of the way that their pitchers are being handled below the major-league level and indictment. So I I do think the reds will begin hitting and hitting consistently. There's too much talent inside that every day eight but the clock is running on them. And if they begin hitting in mid mayor late may when the train has already left the station, and they're still standing there watching it. Go away that doesn't help anybody certainly doesn't help them. We'll find out today. They can get win. Number two. You'll be able to hear it on seven hundred wwl w now to the NCAA tournament games last night. I thought both in their own way were wildly entertaining. I can't believe that that Virginia. Auburn game came down to that. Call it was it was just mind boggling did the referee make the right call. Yes. If you look at the replay, and you can look at it in slow motion. The kid from Auburn caught him with the lower part of his body. He was so hell bent about trying to stay away above the ways that inert not inertia. I what what would you call it? I guess just momentum carried his lower part of his body into the shooter's legs. I watched again, and again, and again, the double dribble, and I listen to gene s- territories explanation. What it was over sterotype the rules analysts, both football and basketball. He was a very very good NFL referee and some would say he wasn't even better college basketball, referee stereotypes or basically said in the explanation. It happened so fast. The officials couldn't see it. That's a paraphrase. He said something had happened so fast. We couldn't see it. Well, that's why you got three guys on the court to watch stuff like that. He was the dribbler. He had the ball isn't something to happen on the other side of the court. This isn't something that happened away from an official. The officials is are on the dribble. You have to watch that that that's the only job you have right there. So to say it happened so quick we didn't see it. You slow it down. You put it on a fifty inch screen. Yeah. I get all of that kind of what the NFL is fighting right now is it not. So I thought his explanation was week other people to praising it. But the fact of the matter is that game to come down to that. I thought it was really disappointing. I always a great game. But it was just such a letdown that it came down to a miss double dribble and some guy shooting three free throws on a ballot three point shot. Just is it just it just kind of suck the air at game. And I'm sure if Virginia's happy Virginia fans are happy they should be they're going to the national championship game. But Auburn should've won that game. And maybe it should not have gotten to a three point shot where guy got fouled as for the other game disappointed in Michigan state, actually fo- confession. Admission state going all the way from the day the bracket came out. Michigan state was my team to win the national championship. And I just I thought Michigan state yesterday. Doug themselves in a huge hole and then their comeback. Was so furious, and coaches will tell you if you fall behind by as many points as Michigan state fell behind you expend so much energy trying to get back to break, even as you just don't have enough gas left in the tank to put it over the top. And they didn't have enough gas to put it over the top Texas Tech against Virginia not going to be able to go into the scoring Funk's that they went into on on Saturday night, not going to be able to allow Virginia Tech to get on a roll and claw back into a game with Virginia Tech. Or when I'm sorry when Virginia may be down double digits. They will not survive that. I think Texas, Texas Tech rebound strongly. I've got a great rebounding team. Their defence is really good. But they cannot survive what they survive with Michigan state tomorrow against Virginia. Just not going to happen. So I think Virginia wins that game. I want to believe that the Texas Tech has a punchers chance because of its rebounding and because of its defense, but it's hard to not go with Virginia and Virginia's writing a great story from what happened last year getting knocked out by sixteen seed coming back and playing the did the way they did this year. It would be.

I mean, it's it's one of the most corrupt democrat machine dominated cities and states in the in the country. It's a sad day only because Baltimore voters keep returning the same kinds of individuals in office. That's what sad I was going down the list last night of the corruption here in the state, and the people that have the politicians that have been in snared in this web of corruption corruption, and it goes on and on. I mean, you know, you had Marvin Mandel who eventually was vindicated. The Joe Alton who was the county executive you had. Daiwa anderson.
