"As coaches like me in particular. I don't designate that next person. So I have to get much better at making sure I do that. Because we've beaten it in their head so much about crashing the offensive glass and you do if you're going to crash like that you have to make sure that you have at least one person getting back there and protecting the basket. So it's worth it then for you I mean, you guys are the best offensive rebounding team in the ACC. It's worth it to give up some more transition possessions in order to get the offensive boards. You're talking to me. I always want everything. He says, no, I want to get better to where we don't do that as much. But I do take the blame as far as the communication to our team, and that's something that even in the last couple of games. And it's so funny, we save even before the game. But then man, the heat of those games, it's still sometimes with a different lineup, especially when someone gets in valet trouble and we have maybe a lineup that we haven't necessarily practiced a lot with. That's when you'll see that how that person is that wide open down there and that's kind of how it happens. So one of the other things you have to kind of preach on and make sure that you're bringing up in the games for this deal in particular. For this team is basically, you know, right now we're into playing a lot of defense. Okay. So really trusting that because that's hard for younger players. Now, order players are pretty good at it. But like we have two freshmen that are in the lineup and that's as soon as we're done, I'm gonna watch some film with alexand tumor in her defense in the last game. There was like four different possessions. She forgot what the scout was and guarded somebody not the way we talked about basically. So just going over to those things and making them sure those younger players and the people that get into the game understand what we're doing and why we're doing it because I think the best advice I ever got was a coach's, it doesn't matter what you know. Your knowledge isn't even remotely important. It's what your players know. And the knowledge that your players have. And so for me, it's really important to be super transparent that they understand the way I think and why we give them the game plan that we give. And so I think that has to get better. I think that we have to still do better job on our baseline our balance plays. We got to set way better screens. We're having a little bit of flyby screen action happening right now. We got to get a little bit like those little things or what if we want to have an opportunity to be a team like Georgia Tech. We have to do all the little things right now. And there are no little things really in basketball. Everything's a big thing for sure. Right. And especially against Georgia Tech, which is the next thing I want to talk about when you're going on the road against the best defense in the country. Give me a little bit of the things keeping you up and I with Georgia Tech. Well, there's so long. You know, they're just such a big team. I mean, you look at their lineup they're like 596-162-6364, 6, 6, 5, like everybody is big. And finally, I feel like I Boston college. We have a much bigger team. I joke with the team all the time. So he finally passed the airport test. We have bigger players on our team. You know, I think that they do a wonderful job of, of course, they're a number one defensive team in the country. They clog things up and they take away a team's strengths. And so we have to be prepared for them to take away some of our strengths. And on the same note, we have to be able to make shots. And if we're going to win this game, I think it's going to come down to our confidence in still pushing transition, not turning the ball over and transition, which we've been known to do a little bit. And then hitting the open shots and being ready to shoot the open shots when we get them because when you are open against them, you're not open for very long. Right. They're so long. They get out and they recover pretty fast. But there are those openings, so I hope we can take advantage of them. And then defensively, you talk about a team that crashes the wardrobe down this team crashes with warfare. So again in the respect of controlling what we control, I'm never going to say we have to make shots because that's hard to control that. But we have to be shot ready. That's something you can control. We have to set great screens. We have to run the floor and make sure we're talking on offense. Defensively, we have to make sure we're playing our scout defense in blocking out and then pursuing the basketball because they're pretty hard nose. Then you don't have to reveal anything, obviously, because this will be out before the church that came. But. She's pretty much unstoppable and the offensive glass. Do you have to set what are the tools you have to even keep her.

"boston college" Discussed on The Her Hoop Stats Podcast

"To do. Is it easy to get that from this senior group because they've been with you for so long? I think they're brought into each other and our coaching staff and our coaching staff is bought into them. So maybe it is kind of easy because we all have grown up together in a certain respect and then it makes it easier for the freshman and the younger players because they see their relationships that they have with us and it makes it like a really fun atmosphere. You know, and is it competitive? And is it a grind? And do we get on them sometimes? Absolutely. But I think they know always comes from a good place of like you said development or making us the best program we can be. So as long as you have players that always take the criticism or take the coaching feedback, any positive way knowing that you're there to make them the best, not there to maybe make them feel bad like some players may perceive. I think that's more of an immature younger player mentality. We're lucky to have pretty mature players on our team that get it. So even on their bad day, when we're on them because that's when it gets tough, right? Yeah. When they're having a bad day and the coaches are getting on them and it's just nothing is rolling with, you know, going for them going their way. I think that's when buying is super important. In Biden's kind of a weird weird way to say it because it's more disbelief. They just got to believe in themselves. And believe in the program, believe in their choice to choose Boston college, why they're here. Why did they choose this place? Like sometimes I'll bring that up. Why did you choose here? Because you want to make this program into something great. Let's do it. So continue to remind them why they're here and to continue to believe in themselves and you have belief in yourself and everybody kind of sacrifices for one goal and big things can happen. And what would it mean with this group to get to the tournament? I mean, the PC isn't determined since 2006. This group really should have been there already. What would it mean to get there this year? It would mean so much. It would really, it kind of, you know, as any parent will know what I'm saying when their children work so, so hard for something. As a parent, you get to see it pay off. You get to see them reap the benefits and rewards. Coaching is the exact same way. I'm sure teachers feel the exact same way, right? When they're teaching their students and all of a sudden, the lightbulb clicks and it works and then they grasp the knowledge. For us, I think we're finally grasping the whole concept of what we want to do. So for us to reap the benefits of actually winning games and getting into the national tournament, that's that's what we want. And it would mean a lot to all of us. And it would allow our players to even leave that bigger legacy, which is what they really want to do on Boston college, especially those seniors. And you brought up parenting and I just wanted to ask because you took years off from your career to go raise your kids when they were really young. And obviously now it's all worked out for the best. Do you think that experience of taking the time off helped you as a coach now? Oh, yes, absolutely. I think for one, there's no burnout factor for me as a coach because it is a hard job and it demands a lot of your time. And there's also no bitterness, meaning maybe if I had missed all of this moments with my children, but I really feel very fulfilled because I got to have my cake and eat it too as far as getting to take some time off, raise them be there when I wanted to really when they really needed me to be a part of their lives. Now I mean, they're 14 and 15 and I have literally forced them to hang out with me. And I do quite often force them to. But they're just so independent. We're back when they were one and two and three and four. You know, they really needed them all in my opinion. And I love that feeling and I wouldn't trade those years for the world and I'm so glad that I have forward thinking athletic directors that gave me the opportunity and hired me to be a coach after taking that time off. Did you think your career was over? Because I feel like most people would say, hey, I've been out of the game so long. Like, I'm not going to get another chance. So did you feel when you made that decision like, you know, hey, I'm cool, not coaching again. To be honest, absolutely. You know, people ask me that, they say, like, well, how did you think we're going to get back in? If I thought about getting back in, I probably wouldn't have gotten out. But I didn't even think about that at the time. I just kind of went with where my heart and everything was pulling me and I'm a big believer in go with your gut and I kind of did that and then when the opportunity came to get back in, it was that same one I was I knew by the excitement of the opportunity that I had like I was so fired up about the opportunity I knew that's what my gut was saying is go do it. And as long as my husband, you know, my kids were on board and they were. No, that's a really gutsy decision. I plot it because I think leaving anything that you really love is extremely difficult. So it's really impressive that you're here now. And now we've gotten some warm fuzzies out of the way. I do want to bring up a concern that for coach Mac. So my one concern that I have for this team is the transition defense. They've given up the fourth most transition possessions in the ACC accord synergy, 13th in ACC for points and procession in transition. Is that a product of your strategy? I know you guys love to offensive rebound. You like to pressure the ball up the court, or is it a concern that you have to fix? A little bit of both. We do have it seems like every game, a slight miscommunication. So, no, we have the person that's supposed to get back, check the basket. And sometimes they'll come out of the game and then he's the moment and that knowledge of, hey, now you're the person that needs to get back sometimes miscommunication. And then we don't have that. And that definitely happens because of what you just said, we crashed the offensive board so hard. And even our guards crashed the offensive board. So we really do have to designate like, hey, you're not going to get the crash in this lineup. You have to get.

Wet Notes - 9-13-21

"This is wet notes here on scuba shock radio from monday september thirteenth. Two thousand twenty one first up today is in another idea for diving with a purpose in one of the most recent newsletters from the coral restoration foundation the coral chronicles. There was a report that cr f. is teaming up with the atlantis. Dive resort in douma getty to offer a unique opportunity to participate in a week long program at the result in helping them build and maintain the largest coral nursery endowing. Actually the town where. Atlantis is located. The program is being sponsored by the coral restoration foundation. The loveland living planet aquarium and the meat foundation. The program runs from september twenty fourth to october. First two thousand twenty two there are planned educational sessions on coral ecology along with restoration efforts and techniques. You also conduct restoration. Dives along with some fun dies. This sounds really fascinating. One of the pictures into newsletter showed the table coral at apo island. I vividly remember that area when we dove air in two thousand nineteen there wasn't any pricing available in the article and you'll have to contact the hotel directly if you have the time and desire to dive with a purpose check out this program and market on your calendar. Long time ago. Donna and i lived in hawaii that was in the mid nineteen eighties. At that time we got to experience. What was probably one of the first while in walls in honolulu. If you're not familiar with wilem walls you can check them out. The wall was a large mural of the humpback whale on the side of a building near waikiki. It was quite impressive. Well it might not be a while and wall but if you happen to be near brant rock in mansfield massachusetts you can catch a the view of a mural of a large shark painted on the side of an old restaurant according to wicked local dot com. The mural was painted by a local artist. Shane leonard. Shane was a former football player at boston college. Who has a passion for painting and a passion for sharks. Now the muros on the side of the former arthur and patch restaurant that closed back in two thousand fifteen. The shark faces divers as they head down ocean street which is a one way street. So you can't miss it say. Shane says he likes the way shark. Show emotion. the photo is pretty impressive. there's no guarantee that the building won't be torn down. Now that is unoccupied but according to shane. Even if it doesn't survive it was worth doing so if you happen to be near mansfield mass check out the shark mural on ocean street about a month ago. Patio wear foundation announced their fourth annual aware week. Now this year it will run from september. Eighteenth through september twenty six two thousand and twenty one the whole idea behind aware week is to empower the global dive community to lead or take part in conservation activities in courses focused on local action for global impact in the past aware has focused on two elements marine debris and vulnerable marine species this year in concert with patties blueprint for ocean action. They're adding three more components. Climate change marine protected areas and coral reefs. Some of the ways. That dive shops can participate or by conducting aware classes like dive against debris coral conservation or the aware specialty. Also like us. You can become a one hundred percent aware dive centre where you provide a monthly contribution in support of the patty certifications you award. We are very proud to be one hundred percent aware. But here's something that. Patty aware foundation needs to work on. We need more notice as to win. Aware week is happening. I wasn't sure what was happening this year and our calendar filled up and we weren't able to get things scheduled as i mentioned at the top of the show. We've already created are twenty twenty two calendar and it would be nice to know when aware week twenty twenty two is happening. I also mentioned at the top to show that the re photo contest results were in and that i didn't win while scuba diving magazine. Magazine's two thousand and twenty one through the lens contest is also complete. The winners were recently released at scuba diving. Dot com and the photos will be revealed in september october special photo issue. They received one thousand seven hundred and nineteen photos from around the world. The contest categories included behavior compact camera macro and wide angle. The entries were judged on beauty originality and unique encounters. I check them out and they are spectacular. I only wish. I had the talent impatience to do that kind of work. Now if you wanna get a jump onto twenty twenty two contests they will start accepting entries january third two thousand twenty two and you can submit your photos through may thirty first two thousand and twenty two and finally we recently received our two thousand twenty two aqualung buyer's guide along with information on all the new products coming down from aqualung apex. So i thought. I'd give you a little preview on what's on the horizon. I from aqualung. They are releasing a new regulator the helix pro and the helix it looks like the helix pro is a mid range regular and i think it's replacing their core. It is a balanced first and second stage in his environmentally sealed with four low pressure ports and two high pressure ports. It was built for cold water and has the automatic closure device or a cd. lower end. helix is not environmentally sealed. And it doesn't have a cd and it's designed for warmer water. Also coming out in two thousand and twenty two is their new. Aqua fluck aqua flex men and aqua flex woman wetsuits. I think it's a redesign of their tried and true. Aqua flex line they also have a two millimeter. Free flex wetsuit now. The i one hundred computers going to come in a new color yellow and speaking of colors. They've added a number of different colors to various products including something called sand petrol red and orange as for eight packs. They also have a new regulator the xl four osha and it is billed as a totally sustainable regulator bay from post consumer waste it comes in grey or mint with some great etching. On the first stage. I suspect it's just like the xl four plus being an overbalanced diaphragm regulator with two hp and four l. p. ports. It looks pretty. Sharp and apex is releasing a new dive computer to the sx. It will be program can program up to six gases and monitor six transmitters. The has a titanium basil making it lightweight endurable but also has a color display. There's something more that require. Some more research It says it has in oh to analyze or onboard. But no to sell gotta check that out a little bit. There's a lot more out there and over time. I'll give you more updates from both aqualung and apex. Well that wraps up wet notes. Here on scuba shock. Radio for monday september thirteenth. Two thousand twenty one

Boston College Helped Football Player Who Refused to Get COVID-19 Vaccine Transfer

"Football player is on the move. And WBC stream. A. Holland tells us it's all because he refused to get a covid shot. The whole Boston College football team has already vaccinated coaching staff to NBC as a school has instituted mandatory vaccinations starting this fall. But we've learned that one football player was saying no to the vaccine, and now BC head coach Jeff Hafley says they have helped that student find another school. Yep, already transferred out Coach happily saying, this is pretty cut and dry. It's a school rule. You don't get vaccinated. You don't get to stay at the heights. Drew

Notable Developments on the College Basketball Coaching Carousel Scuttlebutt

"A lot of movement on the coaching carousel. Over the past couple of days the big. One of course was indiana firing archie miller. After four seasons. We talked about that on a previous podcast. So go find it. We're not going to spend any time on that here but let me walk you through the other notable developments richard patino out at minnesota and as up tuesday morning. He's the new coach at new mexico. State has quote parted ways with steve. Prohm depaul finally took. Dave laid off the hot seat list. Boston college hired earl. Grant penn state hired mike castrucci berry dead leg spin a pretty good right now. It's spinning man. Yeah listen we give the. We are gearing up for this tournament. We got we got more than forty eight hours till. We're gonna tip the first game here so as expected. We've had some movement on the carousel. So we'll let's get into a little bit of this This scuttle but here kind of take it job by job. Best job openings indiana. Let's kind of go in order. I guess second best job. That's open. I would say iowa state is a better job than minnesota steve. Prohm gets fired late monday night. His jamie pollard was on the selection committee so he traveled back as he should have to meet with promo person and do what he what needed to be done You and i both seven the podcast in january. We expected steve prone to return next season. But we also didn't expect iowa state to never win a game like he just got to an irreversible point. so he's done. He put out a classy statement on tuesday morning. And i don't know whether or not steve prohm will land somewhere else head. Coaching position this coaching cycle but he will be a head coach again. He did take iowa state to three inch tournaments he was really good prior to that at murray state and certainly qualified for. It's just a matter of Is there anything out there. That he would be offered or anything out there that he would want as for the job. The candidates we're early. But i'm told that this is certainly a coach that you know quite well as well i'm told jamie pollard definitely will be considering. Unlv head coach. Tj burger near the top of his list. I can't say that he is the favorite. I just think that it's objectively true. That tj also burger will be under consideration for the iowa state job along the likes of. You're going to hear puerto moser connected to multiple jobs on this podcast because let's face it especially if he wins at least one tournament game. He's just a hot name. And he's going to be attached to iowa st paul minnesota. I i don't know if you'd be a favorite for state. But i think his name makes sense. I think utah. State's craig smith might make sense and then a high. I do have a wildcard one. Uab's andy kennedy has gone to the sec. Good job at ole miss. He's just one year and at uab but he had he had a really good year. In fact i think he won more games in his first season. This past season than just about anyone. Maybe all of all of the first year coach coaches. So i think that's a fact no first year coach at a new program. One more games this season than ak i. It's just i'm lobbying out. There is a name that should be considered. And then i did see fran for shila tweet this and i do. I do think there's something to it. Like a baylor is a one seed could be in the final four. Hey first time since bill henderson all that good stuff tang is a is a high level power conference assistant that is deserving of an opportunity would come at a power conference level. I don't know. But i think it's only a matter of time before jerome tank. Its job as well. So i'm just tossing him in knows the league as potentially someone that They should consider or at least at the very least interview sets an initial pool of

"Facing an election laws. Donald trump turns to raw political power to try to bend. The outcome by brian bennett. This article is part of the debrief times politics newsletter during his failed campaign to win another four years in office president. Donald trump repeatedly used the power of his office to boost his chances in employing. The white house has a campaign backdrop. Having his secretary of state give a campaign speech during an official diplomatic trip and spreading baseless claims about voting fraud. From behind the presidential seal. Now he's using his office to try to reverse his loss. Trump invited a delegation of michigan republican lawmakers to meet with him at the white house on friday as that state is on the verge of formerly certifying. That president-elect joe biden won more votes judges have tossed out. Trump's claims of widespread voter fraud in michigan and other states so now trump appears to be trying to use raw political power and influence in a hail mary attempt to convince sitting state lawmakers to disenfranchise millions of michigan voters. The white house meeting follows tuesday night. Phone call trump reportedly made to a republican member of the board of canvassers in michigan's wayne county which includes detroit after. The board voted to certify. The vote tally hanging over. Friday's meetings is more than the power of the office. Trump is also building a new fundraising juggernaut. As he fights the election results trump's massive campaign fundraising list is sending appeals to donors nominally to help his legal defense but a large portion of the funds is going to a new political action committee called save america that trump can use to steer donations to the campaigns of politicians. He favors after repeated failures to show widespread election fraud in court. Trump's legal team has acknowledged that its current strategy is to delay certification of votes in key states in order to open the door for gop held state legislatures to intervene and send a raft of pro-trump delegates to the electoral college on december fourteen rather than delegates who represent how people voted. That strategy is exceptionally unlikely to work and would mean reversing. The intention of millions of voters people close to trump believe. He's putting up a robust fight as a way to energize his supporters. So they'll come with him as television viewers after he leaves office and bolster his political sway as a kingmaker in the republican party. But he's already doing a lot of damage to the democratic process. Along the way and seeding unfounded distrust in the election results among core parts of his base that could persist for years. Trump added to that damage on tuesday when he fired his top cybersecurity official responsible for securing the election. Chris crabs who had said his team of federal government. Experts had not seen any signs of electronic votes being changed when president. Teddy roosevelt called the presidency. A bully pulpit. He meant it was a powerful perch to advocate for policy agenda but trump has taken the muscular use of office in a different direction using it to literally bully fellow republicans into backing his personal political ambitions and go along with his false claims that the election was stolen from him. A broad and unproven conspiracy. That has been widely debunked and repeatedly rejected in court. He simply trying to steal it through. The levers of power says heather cox. Richardson a historian at boston college. This is unprecedented and not since eighteen. Seventy six has a candidate so flagrantly used political power to try to change the outcome of a vote after election day that was during reconstruction when republicans grabbed the presidency for ohio governor. Rutherford hayes with brute political force by pressing congress to steer the result in hayes his favor. But there's still one key difference between now and then in eighteen seventy six the vote margins were legitimately unclear whereas in twenty twenty biden has clear winning margins in the states. Trump is disputing since then states have voted in reforms to the electoral college system designed to prevent a politician from exerting personal influence over the democratic process as the country watch is trump is testing those reforms to ensure the will of the voters is honored.

"It goes against Boston College. Well, the Boston College next week and I have to go to a good North Carolina team to follow, so they're not exactly a sure thing to run the table. Clinton still got to go to Virginia Tech in the regular season. But I do think that these two meet in the championship in both of our still certainly in the college football playoff. Alright, I'm going to ask you to repeat something and I've been practicing and I keep getting it wrong because I don't know how to pronounce his name, and the announcers either said it too fast or change it for me several times. In the middle of the game before I hopped on the air Tonight. Clemson's current starting quarterbacks last name is pronounced hunger lately. So if you get the Unger in there, because it's not really spelled that way, it's kind of like to it to its hunger, violas. Same sort of thing. It's the jury hung a lady, so it's it's every just causing D. J was a lot of these union answers. Just kind of quit on after a while, But look, it's one of those names like Roethlisberger and ski and even took a bottle of that. I have to know it because he's going to be part of our sports lives for the next 20 years or so again. He's going to be an NFL franchise quarterback for a very, very long I'll keep practicing away, Young lady Way already. Get that down. Okay? You like that? The D J U I called united China you for all those years. I can call him D. J. You as well. We're talking to. Ah Peek few tech from college football news dot com. All right, here's my argument, and I don't disagree with you. The fact that the top four weather top war Probably going to stay the top four. I don't think Clemson Falls added a tough war. When there Playas greatest deejay. We bungle a lei is male is playing just the second game on and they are missing trouble, Lawrence. I don't think they'll be penalized enough in losing his game. Pull out of the top four, but I want to make the case for a couple of the teams. Cincinnati has destroyed all six of their opponents it here and he did it to Houston. Again. I understand it's the athletic conference. It's not the A C. C. It's an idea. See But you can't do any better than what Cincinnati's doing. B y. U is now 80. They went on to the Smart Turpin just wipe the field with Boise State last night. And Zach Wilson is looking like a guy who can't play quarterback in the national properly might not be the first overall pick. Like some of these other quarterback we're talking about might be looks damn good that he's up there. He's absolutely up. There is a fruit fantastic right now. I'll throw another quirky curveball team. How about the Liberty Flames? It sounds crazy, Coached by Hugh Freeze, the former Ole Miss headman. They've got a very good officer back feel full of talent who were in other places in our rocking for liberty, And here's the problem Kind of mentioned that there's a problem with Cincinnati. They didn't really beat anybody. Yet. Neither has Buru Buru schedule has been not their fault. Uh, they're trying to put together whatever they could. But Boise State was missing its top quarterback top running back and it was down to its third string quarterback, and then the problem was also that you know, they didn't only defensive plunge. But look BYU until they have been great. Haven't played anybody. The Liberty Flames have beating Syracuse. Okay, No big whoop. It's still a par five program, and they just beat Virginia Tech at Virginia Tech introduces probably the fourth or fifth best team in the PC, So they're kind of doing something right there, too. But Problem is, if you don't have the big names, and you know this year of all years, going still kind of be the same. They're going to get the Alabama's of the world You're going to get clumps and you're going to get your name in the mix, and I'll stay blue is blue blood can get That's unfortunate. And I'll tell you, Mr Freeze. I don't know. Do you know his contract status off the top of your head? You have a boat? Yeah, but remember, he had all those problems at Ole Miss. It's not like he's going to be a real name for the bigger put now to the point of get you're you're kind of going with you would be kind of nice to see somebody do in the college football playoff and a different name. The problem with that is, if you put a BYU or a Cincinnati it's kind of the same problem I always have with you. Ah, Cinderella Cinderella upset in March Madness That's always fun. But you know, there's like an 80 to 55 game against Duke or North Carolina coming up with a couple of rounds later, Same thing. You get one of those teams in that 55 15 game in the first round of the college football playoff, a lot happened. I'm a little irony BYU and Cincinnati than you are. That's OK. But don't count. I know he had some issues, but those two big jobs we talked about the Big 10, Penn State Michigan that might be looking to go in another direction. Depending on now, the next month goes That could be a landing spot for coach free. But I'm I'm just putting that neither always know your point. Though. Neither one is going to make you freeze again. The problems that he had an old myth. We're just too big and there was such a Ah problem when he left there that he's not going to get hired by a AH Penn State or Michigan, But Luke Sickle, the Cincinnati head coach, Hartley is going to be in that mix now. I mean, he he had the Michigan State job and turned it down. But, yeah, you absolutely have to believe that pitiful house. They're definitely Penn State comes open, which I don't think they are, By the way, I don't think Our bar. Franklin are going to get whacked even if this keeps going for them, But he looks pickles in today is definitely a guy who's going to be front centre on every head coaching search out there. Right. We talked about Zach Wilson and how well he's played to being BYU and played himself into departs round Has Kyle Trask done the same thing down in Gainesville? Yeah, You know, there's another name and it's created. He is on a the exact same pace. In fact, he's thrown more touchdown passes and fewer interceptions. Joe Burrow did laughter This time over the first five games. You had a you know, greatest last year trust not set a record. He's the first ever quarterback with your touch. Five for five games. He believable so he has definitely worked himself and maybe the sort of range He's right there with Zach will be right there with three heads and feel the Lord. So there are five legitimately good first round quarterback. Not there. Ah, and there were guys were rising up. All of those are gonna be the big five and they're all going to go in the first round this year, I would tend to agree I Thea College Football Bowl. Playoff committee will not give any released rankings leading up to when they're going to make their announced that they are. No, they are. It's not until I think Good. Two weeks from now. I think it's right after no giving, but they definitely are. They just They pushed it back this year. Usually they come out about now. Remember you specifically four years ago doing a big car used to work with those guys doing a big college playoffs show night of the election, and I was like, Why are you doing it tonight? No one's paying attention. But now they are absolutely doing. It is gonna happen in a couple weeks, Okay? And they're not gonna actually pick the poor team still later into December. They obviously believe number 19. Yeah, if everything's pushed back a few weeks this year Okay. Ah, and we've got good debate already going. We still got several weeks to go before we even in today's right there to your point the rankings coming up this week, Cincinnati is going to be Six ish. Now the coach is pulling a people have nothing to do with the college football playoff Frank. But if they rock the only way this works is they got to go undefeated. You gotta keep playing this well, and they need all these other teams to keep dropping out. Because they might take an undefeated Cincinnati if it rocks everyone else's world over a two lost team from somewhere else, But there's not going to be a second team from the Big 10. There's not going to be a big 12 team. The Pac 12 probably not gonna have anybody available. What you got you got, you know Clemson, Notre Dame Assisi. You know, it's definitely the champion. Maybe one other even that's gonna be hard to find. So it is the year for much of the shot. And that's what I'm rooting Pork. Yes, I do. Like the Cinderella story Underdog narrative.

"Got by, but from the skin of your teeth against Boston College. Well, things were going to get a little bit dicey here. And what does it come down to? For Trevor? Laurence? What changed right. It's still early enough. Why would they rule him out of this? Well, it's not necessarily the symptoms and where he's at with that, but There's other testing that goes into that. They've called a cardiac testing, and that's what he has to go through. And at this point, it's not there. He's not gonna be able to clear the hurdles in time to get into the game next week. "I mean, they Costello is going to help the transfer from Stanford. I mean, he's going to have a quarterback right away. Who's a pretty bm Good? Pretty damn good quarterback, But I have no idea what else they have. Their defense wasn't very good last year after being really good the year before, So they had some really good athletes on defense and had some really good defensive teams in the past, and then You look at l s u and burrows gone. Layer is gone. And they had their missile coordinates. Jefferson gone. Yeah, Coordinators have gone So, Yeah, I mean, 17 could be a lot, but I mean, you know, issues like could good could steam roller and that's not going to completely Surprised me. But I'd be interested to see with no bro. No Brady that do they fling it around like they did last year. Or is it kind of a little bit more of a mix? I mean, Ellis, you used to be just run run run last year. They're basically this pass pass pass, and I would expect a little bit more of a mix, but for me, it's more about leech. I mean, you kind of know what else you what? You're going to get really good football team physical football team fast football team. I just I'm curious to see Leech. In the SEC because it's been big 12 wide open. Throw it. It's been packed, 12 wide open throw it, and the SEC is kind of getting that way, but not that much. They still have the super physical, offensive and defensive lines. So That one. And then Kiffin is kind of gave me will be fun to watch. And then? Plus, I wasn't a watch him get his ass kicked, so I'm not a Florida fan by any means, but mostly a fan of anybody that plays against Kip. This to see him get Ah! Get rolled, but Georgia Arkansas Obama Masoud, You keep those known like zero interest in those two games, none negative interest in those two games. Thank you. I'll have Duke this week against Virginia. You know Dukes, Dukes got a great defensive front. Virginia has yet to play a game now that that kind of surprised me. I was looking at the schedule like Whoa. It's late September and you've a is yet to play. So, therefore UNAIDS late so fresh, they're fresh and they leaned on Bryce Perkins last year ton and I don't think they were that good of a team. But he was like, incredible and he ran around and made a ton of plays. And now they don't have him and Duke's Duca's look good so far against Notre Dame and college. They didn't just as Boston college you get there. They did not know, but they're d line. Sure, look good against two of those are two of the better offense of lines going right now. 26 6. We're gonna have to adjust your definition of look good. Well, No, I'm some of their defense affront. Their defensive front has just gotten pressure, tons of pressure, and I think they may have a huge huge. I don't think you're swaying them with what you're saying. You're not quick. Maybe. See, I watched that game. BC understand 100 yards and 74% passing No. And I mean Duke's defense. They've only give up one touchdown, six drives in the red Zone. You remember this one thing about Duke in that game are you know against Boston College? I think they had two fumbles that a couple pics. They missed a field goal. They got inside the Eagle territory, and they just they couldn't. They couldn't capitalize that it do it better than I think Duke's better than than that score indicates, And I think Virginia without Perkins is a whole lot last silent. I only primatologist disagreed with you on the defensive line that game. I agree with you. I like this game. Oh, and I think two games to none is pretty see pretty significant, although I will tell you this, and it's something to keep in mind, even though I still enjoy do Ah, in week two. The teams that played Against the teams that didn't play. We're like 07 and one against the spread the teams that didn't play with the ones that covered the spread in those games and allow Alphas and overreaction. Line wise. Or one team had taped look at for a week and the other team didn't I don't know, because I found that odd because I was thinking that I was thinking Well, hell they played you gotta meet advantaged already playing a game. Ah, against the spread. It certainly wasn't An advantage. But I do agree that Perkins was there everything last year, so Yeah, Go ahead. I think that College. Games college football teams. Only the truth. Really good ones have that consistency week to week where they show up. They're ready to play and their players representative of you know they're They're mindset in their ability to come in and be ready to play. The one thing you know it. College ball, especially if you wager on it is that if a team is a big game, and they get a big win or unexpected win that next week, what's gonna happen is real good chance to go come out flat the lead Now you just don't have that consistency. You get it into prose because they're pros. You get it in the top college programs because they're basically semipro programs. But once you get past maybe let's just say the top 10 ships keep it to around number. Once you get Teo, 11 and beyond, they become not necessarily inconsistent with their efforts. But college kids a very unpredictable group as it is, it's hard for them. Tio, get up. And stay up. So I wonder if that has something to do with the teams that didn't play, in essence, having an advantage over the team that played the week before. Just cause a team to play the week before they go. We had a game and Oh, now we got to do this again early in the season and the teams that didn't play this their first game, so I'm guessing here. You would think that they would be ready to go. Maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe it doesn't. Maybe I'm just trying to explain something that is Well, they have the element of surprise. Clearly, right? They have the best because there is no film on them, usually over the others, I guess, but you but you could find film, right? I mean, you khun of a coach of Ah, Maybe if you have a young players, maybe not. But, yeah, I mean, you you typical if you have that, if you have, like, you're playing a team and you have their film of what they did last week, and they have no filming here. You all Okay. You got the element of surprise. Can I just can never. Although there's a remember correctly when I was in college. Ah, getting up and staying at wasn't much of an issue. But I mean, well, listen, man, you know what if you talk to your doctor doesn't have to be an issue right now, I I didn't say what I did about I'm not talking about you. About the royal We don't we put I'm not talking about us. Put that evil on me. Ricky Bobby will put that on with doctors Go back to John Wilner's mention of morning sickness. Exactly. I'm I'm using this and I'm picking this Teo to make an obvious point because I am definitely Opportunists of the worst order. And it is 2020 and things were weird, but we just had 5.5 6 minute conversation. About college football started off by talking about the Rhona. Then we got into a discussion about the two Mississippi schools with their two new head coaches. Talking about Duke's defensive line. In Miami, Florida State is this weekend and we haven't talked about it, probably between the three of us. We thought about it individually, but as a collective group were not like, Oh, man. Miami, Florida State's happening 20 years ago, I was goes it Oh, my God 20 years ago Miami, Florida State. We talked about it for 10 consecutive days. And we didn't have sports talk shows 30 years ago. Miami, Florida State that was as good or at least as anticipated as pro games that were happening on the same week now. Miami Florida State You know where that is. It's just a regular as run of the mill a cc game, and if I if I happen to be on, if I happen to be home, I'll see what the score is and if the score is worth it, and it's a certain point in the game. Maybe I'll stick with it. That's how you know what rivalry has dropped. You know, Miami, Florida State is now It's Ella Sue. Alabama was like that's just about to say there's like 20 pros on the field that used to be Florida State, Miami where there was like 20 pros on the fields like Oh, my gosh, Look at this..

"So this, first one, I'm going to read you some highlights here. This is from the center for retirement research, which. Like I said is at Boston College. They produce a report every year called the national retirement risk index, and this measures, the percentage of working age households that are at risk of being unable to maintain their preretirement standard of living, it addresses, one of the most compelling challenges facing the nation today and suring retirement security for an aging population. Here are some of the key findings number one. The retirement landscape is shifting dramatically making the outlook for retiring baby boomers and generation Xers far less attractive than for current retirees. Fifty percent of households are at risk of not having enough money to maintain their standard of living in retirement explicitly, including healthcare in the end decks, further drives up the sheriff households at risk, saving more and working longer. May substantially improve your outlook. Okay. So let's right off the bat baby boomers and gen Xers. It's the outlook for retirement is getting worse. Fifty percent of the households are at le- at risk of not maintaining half the country. Come on. It's crazy. But I mean, this is true. These guys are really good at what they do. If you specifically include healthcare in this index and talk to people about paying for medicine main things that are not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. I mean look, as we get older, a lot of things are not covered by Medicare.

"Rox public house for the bike for a radio show some real diehard at drove over here. And it's warmed up to one degree. It's one right? One degree plus one plus one yet we're up above plus one. And yes, Rex Pflueger signed on to be the co host with the folks from Dana point, I figured maybe he was afraid to leave his room. But unfortunately, as if Rex hasn't gone through enough, you now has the flu so Rex will not be here tonight, but Prentiss have will later. So that'll be interesting, and let's start off with some good news. The good news is that you want Durham will be back on Saturday. You hope to have him play twenty minutes against we. We need him. He looks terrific and practice still leads the ACC and his third in the country in blocked shots at three point two per game. And he's just a really good all around player. We've we've missed him. There's no question about it. And you know, he was very as you saw you were there today. It was very good practice today that was encouraging. And so, you know, I think the key for him is I just want to get him. A lot of experience in playing time, you know, here with our remaining games because he was starting to blossom a little bit when he went down. So I think he can go twenty minutes on Saturday. And may we get them back into starting lineup in Miami on Wednesday. 'cause we're searching, you know, again, we're we're really, you know, we're back on our heels and trying to find one and and it won't be easy on Saturday. Even though we beat them here. Boston colleges is playing very well. And and we just played we played the two best teams may be in the country within three days as you know. I was disappointed in how we fought in battle against Virginia. They do that to you though. And they're very good was more pleased with our competitive nature on Monday night against the an amazingly talented Duke team. And so, you know, we got to continue to compete and stick our nose in there, which this group has done most of the year. But yeah, we'll have him back. So we'll be a little deeper, but Boston College is playing pretty well. They lost a tough one last night to Syracuse but had won their previous to and I know we have a streak against them, which is kind of ridiculous when you think about it. It's almost ridiculous. But it'd be great to go on the road and get a win for for our group to see if we could get a little more confident and grow a little bit. You know, there's two kinds of fans there's the tie hearts to pay attention to everything their season ticket holders folks are local. And then there are people who they have lives. They're busy. So they just kind of zoom in they start focusing in January. And I am getting the questions as I'm sure you are what happens you won the ACC title a few years ago. What happened, and I guess the best number. It's very simple. And no one's used before. You started the year with twelve scholarship players and you have lost one third of your roster. Three of the four guy starters two of them captains Elijah. Obviously one of them wasn't starting. He's gonna play a key role. So in this league, it's unforgiving. I don't know who could lose three starters a third of the roster and not have an impact and it didn't really show until the Duke game. I'm the game. That was the first time you didn't compete the same level. And I think Duke taking your heart is what they do. I mean, again there it was a tough weekend Virginia taking your heart early. Would that? Defense is something that they do to virtually everyone. They play. Yeah. They do. I mean, you know, we're we're down bodies. But we gotta keep trying to figure it out. And. You know, we've not had the best lock on that front and. Rex's tough MRs missed there's no question about it. But this is the group we have we're getting a lot of experience for these young guys. And we want grow him. And and wanna keep you know, it's a group that will come back next year and play together. So we've gotta keep getting experience for these guys and trying to help them and try to get them confident. It's a tough league to gain confidence in. It's the best league in America. Everybody's really gifted. And we played, you know, we have played the top of the league here in the month of January. And and you know, we've taken our punches people are wondering the math Carmody who people forget the first freshman to start here in the first game of the year in sixteen years. He was already ready to play at a veteran level. And then John who is now a starter or certainly one of the key guy. So it's just been difficult. So from your perspective, how do you stay as positive as you have been and are you as positive when you pull your driveway at night? One. I'm not as a matter of fact, you know, you know, sometimes you fake it a little bit. But we've got great kids. And and, you know, great students and do do what they're very coach -able. So you come in. And I think it's the job of the staff to try and keep trying to figure out how to help them and how to get them better because they come in every day willing to work, and you know, they prepare and they pay attention. And that's the one thing about this place when we rotated over nineteen years we've rotated through a couple of years like this. Fortunately, it's only been a couple. And what's helped you is? Because you have great kids. You know, they hang in there. Even though they haven't gotten a win in a while. And they're still coach -able and that gives you a champs always to kind of come off the mat? And we have had to come off the mat a couple times in my tenure here. And we're kind of in that position. Again, does it help a little bit too that you have a fan base that on Saturday and Monday sold out the building they were fat showed up and no one either night. You didn't have you weren't given by many much of a chance going in. And it became clear in both games early. You were overmatched, and nobody left they stay writing to cheer the positive now, they have been fabulous all year. They've really helped us, you know, we kind of felt bad. We couldn't give them more to cheer for you know, when we gave them a little bit of life in the second half against Virginia. But but no they've been great. And I think as I go around town or camp. You know, they know we need them. And they're trying to figure out our young guys as well. So we only have what four home games left. I think for. Four six on the radio. There's just four years four home games left. So we need them. They've been great to us and. We're going to see if we can get one on Saturday, and maybe one turns into more than one as folks could tell listening watching and the folks here is I shook my head. I was trying to talk about Virginia. And my brain kept saying Duke because what we saw the other night. I think is remarkable. Not just in TOTO. How talented they are. But zion. Williamson is right up there in my mind is is one of the best athletes. If not the most impressive basketball playing athlete I've ever seen him purse. Yeah. I been in. I guess the college game over thirty years. I've never seen anything like it. It's really it's an amazing phenomenon. What is even more impressive is the young man is a class act. He's kind of had stardom around him since he was probably twelve years old. And he handles it with such grace. And you know, what's great about him. He's good for college basketball, right now, you know, college basketball, the TV rates. Things in the regular season have been trending down. We've got an FBI investigation. That's given a black eye to the profession. And but this kid is kind of the talk of college basketball. It is must see TV and we saw on our floor the other night, just really gifted gifted guy. And and they're certainly a gifted team, you know, really talented team. So he's been good for college basketball. I'm glad we don't have to play them. Again. I'll say that you know, we only play him the one time, but he's been a positive. I've never quite seen any thing. Like it physically. Speaking of great positives and he's not spectacular like Zion. But he plays in zion's league. John Mooney who has had seven straight. Double doubles leads the league with thirteen and in league play is averaging seventeen points and thirteen point three rebounds. Well, we couldn't ask much more out of Johnny. I mean, he is just been a great story and. You know, we need we have some young players in our program that need to make a jump like that, you know, in in we've done that in our program before, but he is just been a warrior for us. I think Kevin Joon back helps him a little bit too. Takes a little heat off of being the only guy in the paint and protecting the bucket. But to be the do what he's done with the double doubles and the shooting percentage and just being a warrior. It's it's really a neat story. And now he's set himself up when he comes back for his senior year. He comes back as a player of the year candidate in our league and an all American candidate. And who would have thought that about Johnny Mooney a year ago? So it's it's it's a neat story. He's the only player in the country averaging ten plus points ten plus rebounds and shooting better than forty percent from three point land. And he continues to hit after he's grabbed twelve or thirteen rebounds have been hammered on. The entire day. He doesn't get tired anymore. That sounds like the pedigree of guy that's gonna play a long time at the next level. Yeah. I think that next level certainly has an eye on him. And he needs a senior year to to to do it. You know, the one thing they say about the NBA is in college when they when they evaluate college players. Rebounding transfers to the NBA, you know, maybe not necessarily scoring in college translate the score. But if you're a rebounder, you have a nose for the ball in college, it translates to the NBA, and what he has done rebounding the ball against some of the athletic ability and frontlines that we dealt with is simply amazing, and he continues to do it. And I mean, he gets to double digit rebounds. Like, it's nothing and so proud of him. I think he's become a very good leader for us. He's got his hands full Rex's down. And now he's got more leadership with these young guys, and he's leading young guys through tough times. And he's such a stable solid personality. He's really good in that role last week. I sat with George Bolanos at one of your practices..

"We're going eight Rome Boston College seven win. Steve. In a complimentary way. Is that a bummer or is it will take it? If you're a Boston College fan, but and you're feeling that seven wins. Steve is a good thing. Right now, a Boston College. I'm looking at the way that Boston College finished the year with the eyeball emoji again. Okay. I didn't. I did not think they were very good. I thought they were a much better football team early in the season. Then later in the season that has always been the case with Steve adagio. And I think Steve adagio if I were to revisit some of his comments after these games and during game weeks as the season wore on I think he was concerned with the way his team was playing. He knew that this team really could have been a much better team than it was. And so do they finished with three straight losses to finish? The Clemson, Florida state and Syracuse. Yeah. I I think that that's a I think that that's a season that you go back, and you look at what the personnel is. And you think man that that that team that team could have been better. Now, it's tough because you know, Clemson and Syracuse are great to maybe the top two teams probably the top two teams in the ACC. See last season, but I will maintain that Boston. College was not playing great football near the end of the season. And for we got Anthony Brown AJ Dylan like every everything had kinda lined up for this to be a Boston College sleeper season right for them to run out of steam just concerning. Yeah. It's like if you had told everybody before the season, they beat Louisville, Miami Virginia Tech. I mean wake, but whatever and you line up those wage like all right? That's probably eight nine wins. And then get there, and I guess potentially could have if if they actually played enable game instead of us having to resort to fan fiction to talk about it. But yeah, the way they finished that year losing to Florida state is where does that sound can't do it can't have that by the end of the year? Yeah. I be curious to see what the Boston College does a pretty good job of providing a window into their football program, at least from the their media distribution side. Yeah. Just one of those places. You can always expect that you're gonna catch the game right up Email and other I like to I like to keep tabs on Boston College. I'll be fascinated as spring opens up to see what kind of what how Steve adagio views this team because he offer. Does he has a no frills approach, and he'll he'll talk about his team, very openly. He was confident going into twenty eighteen he seemed concerned coming out of twenty eighteen and I think that as we judge Boston College moving forward, particularly, you know, will they ever crack this seven win run. Well, I mean, it's probably going to have to take more than just the status quo and the concern is if all the sudden they become complacent with seven wins. That's a program that's going to go to four eight real quick. I agree. Here's the good news next year's non conference schedule. It's Notre Dame year for for Boston College. But outside of that the three teams that they have an F C S team in Richmond. Kansas and Rutgers pretty good. You make a bowl game tie. You do it. For C. That's just savviness coming through give me a number. Let's see we've done that. We've done that. We've gotta do eleven. We have to do six. We have to do one. We'll do eleven. Okay, eleven we're talking Duke all over the place. My question to you. Why? Because Daniel Jones never took a step that all of us. And if you were the if you're the Dana, Jen skeptic, Dan, he no because I thought everybody else was on the same train as me, and we believe that Daniel Jones was going to have this this real finally back at full health becomes the leader of this team NFL scouts love his size.
