Notable Developments on the College Basketball Coaching Carousel Scuttlebutt

"A lot of movement on the coaching carousel. Over the past couple of days the big. One of course was indiana firing archie miller. After four seasons. We talked about that on a previous podcast. So go find it. We're not going to spend any time on that here but let me walk you through the other notable developments richard patino out at minnesota and as up tuesday morning. He's the new coach at new mexico. State has quote parted ways with steve. Prohm depaul finally took. Dave laid off the hot seat list. Boston college hired earl. Grant penn state hired mike castrucci berry dead leg spin a pretty good right now. It's spinning man. Yeah listen we give the. We are gearing up for this tournament. We got we got more than forty eight hours till. We're gonna tip the first game here so as expected. We've had some movement on the carousel. So we'll let's get into a little bit of this This scuttle but here kind of take it job by job. Best job openings indiana. Let's kind of go in order. I guess second best job. That's open. I would say iowa state is a better job than minnesota steve. Prohm gets fired late monday night. His jamie pollard was on the selection committee so he traveled back as he should have to meet with promo person and do what he what needed to be done You and i both seven the podcast in january. We expected steve prone to return next season. But we also didn't expect iowa state to never win a game like he just got to an irreversible point. so he's done. He put out a classy statement on tuesday morning. And i don't know whether or not steve prohm will land somewhere else head. Coaching position this coaching cycle but he will be a head coach again. He did take iowa state to three inch tournaments he was really good prior to that at murray state and certainly qualified for. It's just a matter of Is there anything out there. That he would be offered or anything out there that he would want as for the job. The candidates we're early. But i'm told that this is certainly a coach that you know quite well as well i'm told jamie pollard definitely will be considering. Unlv head coach. Tj burger near the top of his list. I can't say that he is the favorite. I just think that it's objectively true. That tj also burger will be under consideration for the iowa state job along the likes of. You're going to hear puerto moser connected to multiple jobs on this podcast because let's face it especially if he wins at least one tournament game. He's just a hot name. And he's going to be attached to iowa st paul minnesota. I i don't know if you'd be a favorite for state. But i think his name makes sense. I think utah. State's craig smith might make sense and then a high. I do have a wildcard one. Uab's andy kennedy has gone to the sec. Good job at ole miss. He's just one year and at uab but he had he had a really good year. In fact i think he won more games in his first season. This past season than just about anyone. Maybe all of all of the first year coach coaches. So i think that's a fact no first year coach at a new program. One more games this season than ak i. It's just i'm lobbying out. There is a name that should be considered. And then i did see fran for shila tweet this and i do. I do think there's something to it. Like a baylor is a one seed could be in the final four. Hey first time since bill henderson all that good stuff tang is a is a high level power conference assistant that is deserving of an opportunity would come at a power conference level. I don't know. But i think it's only a matter of time before jerome tank. Its job as well. So i'm just tossing him in knows the league as potentially someone that They should consider or at least at the very least interview sets an initial pool of

"Facing an election laws. Donald trump turns to raw political power to try to bend. The outcome by brian bennett. This article is part of the debrief times politics newsletter during his failed campaign to win another four years in office president. Donald trump repeatedly used the power of his office to boost his chances in employing. The white house has a campaign backdrop. Having his secretary of state give a campaign speech during an official diplomatic trip and spreading baseless claims about voting fraud. From behind the presidential seal. Now he's using his office to try to reverse his loss. Trump invited a delegation of michigan republican lawmakers to meet with him at the white house on friday as that state is on the verge of formerly certifying. That president-elect joe biden won more votes judges have tossed out. Trump's claims of widespread voter fraud in michigan and other states so now trump appears to be trying to use raw political power and influence in a hail mary attempt to convince sitting state lawmakers to disenfranchise millions of michigan voters. The white house meeting follows tuesday night. Phone call trump reportedly made to a republican member of the board of canvassers in michigan's wayne county which includes detroit after. The board voted to certify. The vote tally hanging over. Friday's meetings is more than the power of the office. Trump is also building a new fundraising juggernaut. As he fights the election results trump's massive campaign fundraising list is sending appeals to donors nominally to help his legal defense but a large portion of the funds is going to a new political action committee called save america that trump can use to steer donations to the campaigns of politicians. He favors after repeated failures to show widespread election fraud in court. Trump's legal team has acknowledged that its current strategy is to delay certification of votes in key states in order to open the door for gop held state legislatures to intervene and send a raft of pro-trump delegates to the electoral college on december fourteen rather than delegates who represent how people voted. That strategy is exceptionally unlikely to work and would mean reversing. The intention of millions of voters people close to trump believe. He's putting up a robust fight as a way to energize his supporters. So they'll come with him as television viewers after he leaves office and bolster his political sway as a kingmaker in the republican party. But he's already doing a lot of damage to the democratic process. Along the way and seeding unfounded distrust in the election results among core parts of his base that could persist for years. Trump added to that damage on tuesday when he fired his top cybersecurity official responsible for securing the election. Chris crabs who had said his team of federal government. Experts had not seen any signs of electronic votes being changed when president. Teddy roosevelt called the presidency. A bully pulpit. He meant it was a powerful perch to advocate for policy agenda but trump has taken the muscular use of office in a different direction using it to literally bully fellow republicans into backing his personal political ambitions and go along with his false claims that the election was stolen from him. A broad and unproven conspiracy. That has been widely debunked and repeatedly rejected in court. He simply trying to steal it through. The levers of power says heather cox. Richardson a historian at boston college. This is unprecedented and not since eighteen. Seventy six has a candidate so flagrantly used political power to try to change the outcome of a vote after election day that was during reconstruction when republicans grabbed the presidency for ohio governor. Rutherford hayes with brute political force by pressing congress to steer the result in hayes his favor. But there's still one key difference between now and then in eighteen seventy six the vote margins were legitimately unclear whereas in twenty twenty biden has clear winning margins in the states. Trump is disputing since then states have voted in reforms to the electoral college system designed to prevent a politician from exerting personal influence over the democratic process as the country watch is trump is testing those reforms to ensure the will of the voters is honored.

"This is Radio Boston I'm TCI during Boston. College. In the city of Newton are at odds after news last week that cases among students of spiked now after meeting with BBC officials about their testing isolation and contact tracing practices. Newton. Mayor Ruth and fuller. Concern about the situation to Newton residents in an e Mail on Saturday night? Could what appears to be an? I. Told You. So moment for critics of universities reopening also become a blueprint for successful town again, relations during the coronavirus. Now, joining us to bring us up to speed on what's happening is WB. You are Max Larkin Hi there Max. And before we start Max, I just want to disclose. I. Was on faculty at Boston College before coming to Radio Boston. So tell us what the situation is at BC and how big of an outbreak are they dealing with at this point? Yeah. To the universities sort of data dashed forward about the pandemic they've got a hundred and four positive cases so far as of this afternoon now I think that seems small both as Russian you know thousands and thousands of students, and it works to a positive test rate about point four percent. Then again, teasing that rate is almost eight times higher than the one at northeastern in almost four and a half times higher than the one at Bu. Comparable institutions, and then I think more worrying than that would be peso ninety, three percent of this. Ninety three percent excuse me ninety three of those positive tests came in the last two weeks sixty seven came in the last week alone, and that's got students worried as well as neighbors in neighbouring officials, of course. So. How did the outbreak happened Max and has it exposed any faultlines? ABC's approach to the virus. I think there are limits to what we can share given the sensitive medical nature, but you know the campus officials of whom one one will join us soon said that many of the cases can be traced back to some students watching basketball together without wearing masks and in the school swim and dive team, and then a suite of eight students appear to have been big hubs of infection and I guess some students are starting to wonder and argue reasonably I. think that school officials could have done and could still be doing more to contain this thing. So we're going to hear from Boston College's Jack Done and just a couple of minutes. Let's focus on the students. Can you tell us a little bit more about what you're hearing from them? Yeah true to form. Some of them have posted their feelings on. TIKTOK that social media APP, one young man shared thoughts from isolation. Apparently, it looks like he's at a hotel that the college is using for that purpose and he says he's a B. Student. We can't verify that but he says he's also shaping along quarantine. Money but we've paid you. If you want to say that you care about the students by more testing test us. I want to be safe and healthy and. Be Doing Fun, stuff my friends and going to class. Office been just sit here and not go to class. I WANNA to breathe fresh here I guess I can open that window they're gonNA tell that I'm breaking quarantine by exiting the room Not on spoke to a number of students and they all said, they have seen some infractions of the coronavirus rules of whether it'd be people standing too close together and dining hall lines or two large gathering maybe but many I spoke to feel like they and their friends are doing all they can they're staying in their rooms they're keeping distance.

You know his Georgetown Teams especially when you got nineteen, eighty, seventy, nine, eighty through the early nineties they were a force and the best defensive coaches in the history of the game, his teams were very disciplined. "It's February third nineteen seventy-nine. Jim Sweeney sits on his bed, peering out into the living room right now. His roommates are welcoming in Rick, Kuhn and another man guy who looks like a TV villain with a thick beard in a black coat and gloves. Sweeney's heard the stories from coon. He knows this has to be Rocco Perla. Sweeney fields lightheaded ever since returned to Boston from the West Coast. He's barely been able to sleep or eat. Now looks like things about to get worse. Coon glances at Sweeney from the living room and steps aside from the group. He makes his way into Sweeney's bedroom. COON closed. The door breaks out and giddy laughter. Tell Sweeney that he should receive a trophy for his work at UCLA. His performance was masterfully bad. He hopes Sweeney will provide an encore for the upcoming game against Saint John's. Sweeney looks out the window the falling snow when this scam started. He knew it was a bad idea, but Kuhn gave him a lot of money. He decided to buy some jewelry for his girlfriend Maura. The look on her face made his anxieties melt away. But those good feelings didn't last. Sweeney wants out. Except he isn't sure how to make that happen, he could confess. You'd almost certainly be thrown off the team and maybe thrown out school. Sweeney has also been worrying about another threat. If? He walked away from the scam. What would the mafia due to him or his girlfriend his family? Sweeney rubs his temples and tells KUNA sit down. He tells coon that he wants. Doesn't say a word. He just smiles calmly explains that it's natural to be anxious, but no risk no reward. Before Sweeney can respond. His bedroom door shoots open. Standing in the doorway is Rocco. Perla arms crossed. He asks if everything's good in here. Kunadze says it's sweeney is just feeling a little scared Perla laughs. Then he squeezes his eyes and turns to Sweeney. He says that to be actually scared is to find your feet cement as your tip off a boat in Boston harbor. Is that the sort of scared? Sweeney feels right now sitting in his warm room with money to burn. Sweeney Swallows Says No. He doesn't feel that scared. COON, slap Sweeney and he in Purley the better. Sweeney looks down at his hands or shaking, and he stands and quietly closes the door. It's February sixth, nineteen, seventy, nine in New York City outside the Saint John's alumni hall. The street is crowded with college. Kids addressed in red celebrating Saint. John's big win over Boston, College. But inside the arena Ernie Calms sits alone on the bench. He stares at the scoreboard Saint John's eighty five. Boston College Seventy six. Tonight complete the worst game of his life and in the audience. There were NBA scouts from the New York Knicks new. Jersey Nets calm solemn during warm up with clipboards and pencils a new. They're tracking him. A great performance in this game would send his name to the top of their lists. But the game was a disaster. It turned out. He wasn't competing with the other team. His opponents were Jim Sweeney and Rick Kuhn once again. They wouldn't pass him the ball and this time. COBB lost his cool. He screened Sweeney and ended the night, only making one of seven shots from the floor. Cop Buries his face in his hands. He's ashamed, but also limit. Teammate he sees. Now's the reason why. Cross Jim Rick Kuhn is headed to the, is it? He Looks Glum. Cobb knows it's not because the eagles lost because they didn't lose by enough saint. John's was favored by nine points. They won by exactly nine. That means the cameras didn't win any money on the game, but they didn't lose any either. It's only consolation for an Nikon so wrong. COBB stands and surveys the Empty Basketball Court. This is where he belongs, and this is where he can build a future for himself. Raccoon and Jim Sweeney may have stopped him this game. Not Next. Two nights later, Rick Kuhn stands alone as kitchen sink. He and his girlfriend Barbara we just had a huge fight. Now he's eating Raisin Bran for dinner and trying to common self down. Read said she'd had it with Kuhn's evasiveness about money and she added. Maybe she should ask. Jim Sweeney about it. That's when Kuhn lost it. He warned her never to speak about the money. Anybody ever or else. He didn't need to look at her is to know he gone too far, but the damage was done. When he did meet her case. She's angrily that she was leaving. Koon Stares numbly at the kitchen window. What happened to his life? His best friend stopped talking to him. Now's girlfriends leaving. You may be winning bats making money, but he's losing. What actually matters? Just then the phone rings. Kounose knows who it is. His Old Pittsburgh acquaintance. Tommy Perla Rocco's brother, wanting to confirm that the gambler should bet on the upcoming game. This time Boston is facing off against the Holy Cross. Crusaders holy his favoured, but still it's a hard game for coon to guarantee Holy Crosses, a rival school and anything can happen at a rivalry game. Still who knows the gamblers won't accept that kind of talk. coon picks up the phone and here's a familiar raspy voice online. As, he guest, it's Tony. Perla Perla doesn't ask coon anything. He only says that there New York friends are betting and betting big expect pats Jimmy Burke in particular. COON begins to protest, but Perla cut some short. You Warns Coon to dump the Holy Cross Game No ifs, ands or buts, Boston College needs to lose biles seven points if they don't there will be problems and Perlas. You don't want to create problems for Jimmy Burke right now, not when all his solutions require bodybags. COON hangs up his. Heart pounding. He looks at a serial and dumps the ball down the drain..

"Protected and hopefully give you one less thing to worry about. Its early evening on December sixth nineteen, seventy-eight. Tonight the Boston College Eagles are playing the Providence. College Friars in the first game of the season inside the Robert's center. The crowd is capacity and the Jim hums with pre-game chatter. The Eagles are running through the warm ups on the court, but Rick Kuhn doesn't have his eye on the hoop. He's trailing Jim. Sweeney trying to get them apart from the others. He needs to remind sweeney of the spread on tonight's game, and how they'll need to manipulate the final score. He also needs to see in Sweeney's is. He's really on board. Tony Perla called Kunene the day before saying that Las Vegas has set the betting line at nine points. Burke and his associates would place huge amounts of money on the game betting the providence would lose, but they would lose by less than nine points. COON needed to make sure that happened. He needed to guarantee that Boston would win by eight points or less. As a team keeps warming up, a ball bounces off the rim. Sweeney goes after and coon follows. Tune repeats what he told swinging the locker room. They have to win by less than nine. Sweeney his tells them to keep quiet and he's reminded him a million times already. He gets it. COON can hear the anger in his friends voice. Sweeney has been on edge ever since that night at the hotel. With Henry Hill Sweeney turns away with a scowl on his face. He takes his shot which drains to the hoop with the Swish. Then without. coon he runs and grabs the ball. coon watch sweeney his pulse quickening. Before. He can say another word. The referee blows the whistle. The game's about to start. After opening tip off, the Eagles, come out of the gate, hot, pressuring the friars into sixteen turnovers in the first half Boston goes on to take a twelve point lead by halftime. coons legs feel shaky, not just because he's been running all night. He's not sure he could control the game or Sweeney. And if he doesn't slow the team. He's going to be in big trouble. Minutes later the second half is about to resume coon stands on the sidelines with his teammates. It looked electric out there and of course winning feels good, but it's time to let Providence Star catching up. Coon tries to catch Sweeney's I to communicate the message, but sweeney the Eagles Co captain just stares intently at their coach. CONGRATS teeth. Sweeney? The. Whistle blows, and the Eagles head back onto the court for the second half of the Game Kuhn play center when he grabs the rebound. He sends the ball to Sweeney. To Great Relief, the Point Guard starts to slow the pace down and soon both Koon and Sweeney missed several easy baskets. Providence comes climbing back. Coming into the final minutes of the game. Boston college is now ahead by eight. Just within the nine point margin. With less than four minutes. Remaining coon discreetly signals to sweeney. You want him to slow the game down. Even more play out the clock Boston stop scoring. Sweeney dribbles the ball down court and sense. A pass to Ernie copped. COBB is the eagles shooting guard the team star player. COM faces. Three defenders still manages to release a jump shot. It's a beautiful shot. The puts the Eagle's even further ahead, but providence. Mrs, their next shot despite coons message. "He'll snorts to lines of cocaine leans back in the leather armchair. He silently assesses the huge man sitting across the room, coon, six foot, five and ways an easy to twenty with thick mustache and dark feathered hair. He'll does one more line of cocaine looks up. Kuhn so Rick Tony! Perla tells me you went to high school with his little brother. Says you some kind of Star Athlete. coon shrugs shoulders and stay. Silent Hill stares at him. The boy may be huge embody, but hills. Not so sure he's big in. Mind must be nice to play for Boston, College. To either not paying for your talents. COON sits up looking more focused than before as he'll continues. Ricky deserved to be rewarded. And that's where I can help. All we want is some assistance with the scoreboard. Tony said you're up for that. Kuhn gets short. Not good must be clear. We're not asking you to throw games or anything I don't bet on who wins or who loses I. Bet on what's called the spread now. The spread that means that means you bet on how many points we win or lose by smart Kid. Tell me what you know about spreads. Kuhn's is wander for moment. Then he looks back at Hill. Well, let's say the Eagles are favored to win by ten points that means the spread is ten. You could place a bet on the opponent, and if we make sure the beat them by less than ten, you still win the bet. We still win the game, but were winning less points. That's something I can make happen, Rick. You're right. What's different is it's not that I win sat wheat win and we get paid my friend now. You got any other players in this with you of course. But that makes me very happy. A month later in mid, October, nineteen, seventy, eight on the campus of college, the Robert Center Gym Echoes with the sound of shoes squeaking on the hardwood floor. Today the Boston College Eagles wrapping up their first basketball practice of the season. The players take their final shots and rick. Kuhn sits alone on a courtside bleacher lacing shoes these last few weeks. COON has been thinking long and hard about his meeting with Henry Hill and every time he does. His heart beats fast with anticipation. He desperately wants to make some money to get back to how things used to be. Years Ago Koon competed in a different sport. You was a baseball star, and even played in the minor leagues. Kuhn saw just how sweet life could be a well paid professional athlete, but then his fortunes took a turn coon struggle with a shoulder injury, and soon had to give up baseball. His dreams were dead. He thought, but then he got a second chance. He landed a spot on the Boston College basketball team. He was playing competitive sports once again, but this time he wasn't getting paid. The gambling scheme could change that, but a not quickly forms and coon stomach. Because in spite of what he told Henry Hill coon hasn't actually enlisted any other players, and he needs at least one other player to join him, but the question is. WHO. He studies his teammates a head for the exit to the twenty four year old coon. These guys seem like they're still in high school. They're not serious about risk, even one to make some real money. COON size gazes up at the rafters searching for ideas. When he looks back at the court, something clicks as if Accu-. His friend Jim Sweeney walked out of the locker room. Sweeney is the Eagles, point guard and Co. captain as well as a student. He has an energetic balance and a natural smile. Everything about Sweeney says that he's an honest hard working guy. But his coon watches him. He thinks there's more to this golden boy than meets the eye. Sweeney regularly asks coon about his time playing baseball in the minor leagues by living the Good Life. Coon to his feet and hurries to catch up to Sweeney. He greets him with an unassuming smile and asks whether he had minute talk. Moments later. Kuhnen Sweeney step outside the Robert. Center, your met with a crisp fall win which Russell's leaves the campus, maples. As they walk away from the Gym Kuhn explains the full plan. Sweeney stops checks to make sure they're out of your shot. Then demands to know. Did coon just ask him to cheat? So Sweeney repeats the plan again and promises him. It's not technically cheating is to shaving off a few points here and there it's harmless and it'll make a buck. Sweeney crosses his arms and tells coon. It sounds like cheating to him and for a moment both remained silent. Finally coon laughs and claps Sweeney on the shoulder. He says it drop it. It was just a joke anyway, but sweeney is warily. COON gives him another PAT says they should head to class. As they walk away. COON remains quiet. Thinking to himself Jim Sweeney didn't say yes, but then again. He didn't say no. It's later that same week. Henry Hill winds his way through the busy foot traffic in Queens New York City. He stops at a dimly. Let Bar known as Robert's lounge. He'll turn around and gestures. Paul maisy and Tony Perla who follow behind him. This is it? He tells them. Inside. A man sits on a corner stool, noodling on his guitar while laughing with a couple of guys with thick necks. He'll waves to them. One of them stands without saying a word escorts the trio to the back of the bar. From, there, they had down narrow set of stairs. As they descend. He'll keeps looking back at Tony Perla. WHO's looking? Pale, he's nervous. That makes hill nervous to. They're here today because he'll is trying to sell the betting scheme to powerful mobster Jimmy Burke. The trio's about to meet with Burke and when they do Pirlo explain a plan. If Burke likes what he hears, he'll come on board. He'll bring with him a large national network of sports betting bookies. He'll knows that. This is the key for the whole operation for the scheme to work. They'll have to spread the bets around the country. They'll place a large number of small bets on Boston College basketball. Team and all those small winds will add up to serious money, but because the bets will be spread far and wide, they won't attract much attention from other gamblers. He'll reaches the basement level sees burke seated at a table. He's reading the newspaper cracking up on a couple of hard boiled eggs. Burke is fifty with his reading glasses and old polo shirt. He doesn't exactly look like a high level member of the Mafia or man with reputation for extreme violence. Burke looks up from his paper. He Sees Hill and smiles the to have known each other for twenty five years, and Burke Treats Hill like nephew. He'll introduces Bert to the two other men and then leaves. Tony Perla with Burke so the two of them can talk. Meanwhile he joins maisy to burks men in the corner for a game of Botchy. But. Even as hill plays, he keeps one eye on Burke and Perlas Conversation Burke listens nods. Ask questions nods again. Finally emotions at hill to join them at the table. Burt takes a sip of his drink and says he's interested in the betting scheme, but I you want. He'll go to Boston and meet. All the players involved not just coon. He needs personal assurances that all of Kuhn's partners are up to the task. L., smiles. Manatt but he feels his chest. Tighten as he realizes he doesn't know with any certainty that Kuhn has gotten other players involved..

"We're going eight Rome Boston College seven win. Steve. In a complimentary way. Is that a bummer or is it will take it? If you're a Boston College fan, but and you're feeling that seven wins. Steve is a good thing. Right now, a Boston College. I'm looking at the way that Boston College finished the year with the eyeball emoji again. Okay. I didn't. I did not think they were very good. I thought they were a much better football team early in the season. Then later in the season that has always been the case with Steve adagio. And I think Steve adagio if I were to revisit some of his comments after these games and during game weeks as the season wore on I think he was concerned with the way his team was playing. He knew that this team really could have been a much better team than it was. And so do they finished with three straight losses to finish? The Clemson, Florida state and Syracuse. Yeah. I I think that that's a I think that that's a season that you go back, and you look at what the personnel is. And you think man that that that team that team could have been better. Now, it's tough because you know, Clemson and Syracuse are great to maybe the top two teams probably the top two teams in the ACC. See last season, but I will maintain that Boston. College was not playing great football near the end of the season. And for we got Anthony Brown AJ Dylan like every everything had kinda lined up for this to be a Boston College sleeper season right for them to run out of steam just concerning. Yeah. It's like if you had told everybody before the season, they beat Louisville, Miami Virginia Tech. I mean wake, but whatever and you line up those wage like all right? That's probably eight nine wins. And then get there, and I guess potentially could have if if they actually played enable game instead of us having to resort to fan fiction to talk about it. But yeah, the way they finished that year losing to Florida state is where does that sound can't do it can't have that by the end of the year? Yeah. I be curious to see what the Boston College does a pretty good job of providing a window into their football program, at least from the their media distribution side. Yeah. Just one of those places. You can always expect that you're gonna catch the game right up Email and other I like to I like to keep tabs on Boston College. I'll be fascinated as spring opens up to see what kind of what how Steve adagio views this team because he offer. Does he has a no frills approach, and he'll he'll talk about his team, very openly. He was confident going into twenty eighteen he seemed concerned coming out of twenty eighteen and I think that as we judge Boston College moving forward, particularly, you know, will they ever crack this seven win run. Well, I mean, it's probably going to have to take more than just the status quo and the concern is if all the sudden they become complacent with seven wins. That's a program that's going to go to four eight real quick. I agree. Here's the good news next year's non conference schedule. It's Notre Dame year for for Boston College. But outside of that the three teams that they have an F C S team in Richmond. Kansas and Rutgers pretty good. You make a bowl game tie. You do it. For C. That's just savviness coming through give me a number. Let's see we've done that. We've done that. We've gotta do eleven. We have to do six. We have to do one. We'll do eleven. Okay, eleven we're talking Duke all over the place. My question to you. Why? Because Daniel Jones never took a step that all of us. And if you were the if you're the Dana, Jen skeptic, Dan, he no because I thought everybody else was on the same train as me, and we believe that Daniel Jones was going to have this this real finally back at full health becomes the leader of this team NFL scouts love his size.

"Future if you're playing that poorly against the team without its its best player or its two best players but an interesting comparison here you look back a couple of years 2016 syracuse starts owen four in conference planned jim bam actually brought this up a couple of days ago and his press conference i believe it was after the previous game out the pittsburgh game but the one before that and and a bunch of people a bunch of reporters they started every question with you guys are not one in four and conference play wanting foreign acc place out that stop exactly right you know you know you know what i'm talking about because to me i wasn't having any of it he said goal back a couple of years the only people who are worried is the media he pointed out the reporters and said you're the only guys to think this matters because in two thousand sixteen they start conference polio and foreign we know what happened after that they go to the final four yeah we know what happened in in the thing is about this pittsburgh win is now you have a chance to go on a little bit of a run you play boston college at home a much improved boston college team going to be tough but if they can somehow get that one and then get the win at pittsburgh the next saturday on the twenty seven all of a sudden you get something going and then you get ready for another tough stretch georgia tech virginia louisville you know there's no breaks in the acc time to win it is clearly now flickers as you get towards the end of acc play you start playing at miami play north carolina at duke and in a road game at boston college and then the surprise clemson team to round out the year really goes all the time to win is now i think this is the part of the schedule and conference play that syracuse needs to take advantage and it starts with boston college in pittsburgh of course you just gotta sweep the panthers talking syracuse basketball on.

"Still learning to to try to meet some of our teens in basic citing you know is is all start in schools like starting being a new kid and beating of a lot of people and doing a lot of things and so we're excited about as you mentioned you started the job in june you were formerly introduced in april one at that introductory press conference you mentioned that you wanted programs that were consistently competitive offered the boston college man's and women's basketball programs and the football programme over the last couple of years that hasn't necessarily been the case particularly in the acc bc football to in seventeen over the last three seasons over the last two seasons the basketball program is two in thirty six in acc play how do you go about changing that in changing that culture were you have to look at the whole entire program um and not just one thing is is every aspect of and is a new person coming in you know my job is to look at all of our programmes not just those uh in and just evaluate how we're doing things and look to see where i can help and make a difference now you quite frankly those are two of the three revenuegenerating sports and so we doubt the focus on those you know basketball football and men's ice hockey are very important to us as far as a revenuegenerating perspective and and also to alumni pride and some things from up from a brain standpoint that important is one thing at a time you know you don't you don't become a certain level overnight but you gotta do to work every day you've got to assess quickly and understand what do we need to be competitive consistently how much would it help if you were able to get the men's and women's basketball programs.
