"Vaccinated texted masking socially distancing where they can to ensure the utmost safety for new yorkers daniele. She she has put it extremely tactfully. There as is her job that basically boils down to the great sort of new york. Ish don't care who you are no shirt no surface absolutely absolutely and although an e. uk. I really not sure about this kind of vaccine passports facts as to services because i think public health issues it's much better to persuade and Educate rather than compel In this case. I couldn't we have so basically you're doing that thing. Thinking the rules should be adjusted in terms of who they're going to inconvenience and it generally. I'm all for fair and free treatment. Five really think. Mr boston at this coming. He did have it coming. You'll see there's no doubt about that but the trouble is this is where. Unfortunately it's very hard to win with the likes of president. Bolsonaro is that you know the the photo of him being scoffing. Pizza on the solid walk has of course being amplified by his own crowd. This is actually going to play massively well for him among his base. Isn't it like. I went to new york city and those fancy pants. Book learning uptown. Science believers wouldn't let me dine in the fancy pants uptown book learning restaurants. And so here. I am having to eat pizza on the sidewalk like the humble sentinel of the people that i am. Well i feel about what they feel about pineapple on a pizza. So it's it's a defensively. No i have not been able to ascertain whether in fact boss narrow did have pineapple on these a thing. We should inquire but to be honest. It's it's it shows. The kind of the the the key is is between those who believe in science and those the decide as a matter of popularity to defy science. So you know. Burnable kicked out twelve thousand medical staff cuban ones because he didn't like them just to find out. The ewing pandemic. He doesn't have enough doctors and nelson others. Because that's the way bassano so he doesn't believe that there is there. Mickey doesn't believe in vaccination and think maybe it's a lesson to be learned for him that year in some parts of new york is unwelcome. I think actually should not allowing actually to enter into the united states if in dangerous at the population because this is about survival right now and in the united states it was reported yesterday. Two thousand people died from from covering nineteen. It's it's it's a serious matter. So if this populist in the united states managed to get rid of one populist i think is necessary. Let another wants to visit danica there. Is that serious point in new york city mayor bill de blasio already Suggested this not just denying joy bolsonaro Entry to new york pizza paul's but denying entry to the united states and a member of his delegation has indeed tested positive and they are frantically trying to track down every body he might have come into contact with and and how you spend any amount of time in new york city without coming into contact with loads of people Is beyond me. Shouldn't the united states have just said to him well. Only the you demonstrate that you've been vaccinated. Oh you not coming. Talking about populism in populous that would have been an even bigger boon to his Test profile at home. So it's a bit of a a a no win situation. And i think as you said the way it's pound that with the pizza on the street incident really says quite a lot about that new york vibe and i think made the point In a way that we can relish and he will exploit just as a final thought on this your dc any end in sight to the degree to which that antibac- sentiment has started to become a political catalyst in a lot of parts of the world. I mean i bob. Ac- paid attention to this because the strategy is where. I'm from but we do not often see in australia in cities as we have seen in the last day or so in melbourne Riots of such violence. The the the police compelled launch baton rounds to try to disperse them and divided society. But it's very similar argument with climate change between those say it does exist in dozo always denied the deny climate change. I think this is really the demarcation of the of the default lines between those who think we should follow science. We should follow knowledge. And don't think that populism ignorance and yes. I look cool because i ate pizza without vaccination so i'm so clueless get i'll i'll get more support. This is exactly the battle that we ever our hands and we should. I think those who believe in science should should allow sleeves in and be ready for this fight. Don alert is Just finally on today's panel question. I know i have asked intones of rhetorically from this chair before. But how have we got to a point where we have as a species managed to turn into yet another nonsense culture war issue a completely morally indifferent force of nature like a virus. It doesn't care we haven't done this on on our end to be found and i wouldn't. I wouldn't underestimate them of deliberate disinformation misinformation around this and how much it's been used as a stabilizing force by by political actors based and successfully russia but others as well so i think people are herd animals but sounds too much like how to music but we are very very very easily influenced and this particular pandemic had has come a time when the media and social media can be exploited to this great extent. Reintroduction of quarantine free travel between New Zealand and Australia has suffered a set back less than a week after it began. New Zealand has suspended flights from Western Australia following the announcement of a three day coronavirus lockdown in Perth and the nearby region of peeled BBC news. Hello. You're listening to weekend from the BBC World Service on Celia Hatton. I have two guests with me for the rest of the program For the next two hours. They're going to be giving us their personal take on the news and the issues of the day they are vanden, A Saxon Emporia. She's a British born chartered accountant, entrepreneur and Management consultant now based in the city of Tuna in India, and Emma Beals, International policy analyst and senior adviser at the European Institute for Peace. Well, Very warm. Welcome to you both, Um let's let's turn to you first. You were Born in New Zealand, and now you're in London, but you have a special focus on Syria. Can you take us through that path? Yeah, it might sound like an unusual path and probably is so I left New Zealand and traveled a lot. Some some great people had given me advice about coming from a small town in New Zealand and really needing to see a bit of the world before I What I had all the answers, too little could offer very much in terms of solutions to anybody else. So you know, I worked in London for a little while after I arrived, and then I got really captivated with the beginnings of the Arab spring like a lot of lot of my peers dead. And began to do journalism and Could have started reporting on the conflict in Syria, You know, not long after it started, and because it has been such an ongoing conflict, and I have lived in the region for the majority of the last decade that has I've really become quite deeply entrenched in and continue to work on it because You know the tragedy of it continues. And so it's really difficult to sort of look away and pivoted from journalism or into policy analysis and peace building Because there's a certain point they think a lot of journalists who work on Syria will feel like this. Where you feel a little bit like you're shouting into the void just by explaining the tragedy that's happening and you want to try to actually help find some of the solutions. Do you feel that there's a sustained interest in Syria here among the journalism community the people around you, or do you think that people are starting to direct their attention elsewhere? What's your feeling? I think there's a cool group of people for home. Their hearts are really in it. And they're in the right place and among the aid, community and policy community, you know, people have said to me you have been in this business for much longer than I have that. You know, it was the war in the Balkans and so on with it, that really captured them in the same way. Just because of what you know the tragedy of what they were seeing. So I think there are, you know. That core group of people who have not given up or or lost interest as you say, but I think in terms of interest in the wider world definitely has sort of subsided because you know, last month there was the acknowledgement of the 10 year anniversary of the uprising. That's a long time to try and get people to sustain interest. Well, we're certainly gonna be Turning back to you. Ah, few times over the program to learn more about your work there, and we're really pleased to have you here, Ventana. Let's let's turn over to you. Now. You are a first for me on weekend, you and I met at an event in London was two years ago. And I I told you then you'd be a great guest for the program. Here. You are so very welcome to you. Thank you at the time you You told me your story. You were Born in the U. K. You spent a good deal of your career in Eastern Europe. And now your based in India, can you? Can you elaborate on that path? A little bit? Yeah, sure. I mean, I was really a rebel for an Indian kid. At that times. They're born in the seventies. So while I was studying, I also DJs on local radio, much to the upset of my father, who was a very kind of strict Indian dad and He gave me three choices for life, and they were doctor, lawyer or accountant. And I didn't want to do any of those. I am. I just loved working on the radio station. Celia is, you know it's great fun, but my but unfortunately, the radio station I was working for went bankrupt. My dad said very solemnly to me. Do you realize if you'd been a chartered accountant, you would have been able to save the radio station on D It was like, Yeah, he hit me on. I realized he was right, Actually, So I went often studied chartered accountancy with the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales. OK, qualified with the medium size firm. Then you know, the revel in me came out again and wanted to explore the world and explore what was going on. So back in 96, you know, a little while after the fourth Moved to Romania.

"For me. We've heard the other ones. You know the goals teller lies the bigger the lie the more they believe it you tell it could be bullshit. Could be could be but we'll go to now. He's going to apply this to the corona virus crisis and Picks up on something that I'm kind of kicking myself over. I think we knew it but he was a long time ago. So how does this idea of mind control work in today's modern environment? Well it's with slogans and marketing countries around. The world have been promoting slogans to persuade that citizens to behave as required and China. There was a slogan which said if you love your parents lock them up. In Taiwan people were told to visit each other is to kill each other at first glance the slogans which are heavily advertise promoted in the UK. Seem harmless enough. We recognize them. Some such as we're all in this together seem fairly innocuous though we perhaps might be forgiven for that. We're all this all in this together unless we happen to work as advisers to the prime minister the first trio of phrases which were promoted everywhere in the UK. Keep your distance. Wash your hands. Think of others more. Recently new phrases have been added to the repertoire. Stay Home Save. Lives protect the. Nhs does that remind you of anything. Those three three phrase three phrase Three phrases in a row three by three. No I'm sure you're gonNa tell me what what it should have reminded me but I'm already annoyed by the fact that we missed on some of these things like you know protect you. What was it what was he ever the Chinese. Don't lock them up and the Taiwanese. Visiting your parents is killing them. Wasn't that your parents visit your peers and kill them. Just say that that's what he said. That's what it was alarmingly. Go back for second. I was coming to visit each other to kill each other. They go to visit each other is to is to kill each other so the three by three yes. Of course we know the three threes casting testing testing chasing chasing chasing isolation isolation isolationism. F- okay. So now let's get into the three by threes. The magic phrases rhythm and patent used in these phrases is not a coincidence. There usually three words in each phrase on the phrases running threes. This isn't a coincidence. Citizen TAP chomps using phrases of three words presented in groups of three is a technique known as the rule of three and psychological conditioning. Not The reason for this rephrase with which we're all being bombarded we're being trained taught the same time it's behavioral psychology other hypnotherapist pointed out that if we repeat phrases often enough then the words and thoughts become implanted in our subconscious mind and then become a belief which motivates our behavior and so governments repeats slogans which become beliefs. It's called auto suggestion along the lines of every day. In every way I'm getting better and better George Orwell who invented newspeak also understood the importance of the triple three word phrase four. He's futuristic novel which was written in nineteen forty eight all well invented the slogan wars peace freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. If you want a picture of the future wrote all well imagine a boot stamping on a human face forever. And how far away are we? Now that we've got the three by threes and we can identify them gone past it. Which by the way we it's weird kind of. We should be doing that through. We don't do it here. We don't do it over to propagandize people but we don't know what we do. How by the way you get clipper today for finding this care. We'll thank you. I'll take the clip. Before I play the last long goning no agenda CLIP DONATE. No agenda support the show donating his love. We we need to think about these things man. It's not just the three by threes there. Some other behaviors that have been amplified throughout the world. Everything else that's been happening since February. Twenty twenty s part of the brainwashing process. And it's been noticeable at the instructions were being given have been more like orders the signs that have popped up. Dandelions say stand here. Please stand here and why not you? Don't say please to Prisoners Too. And then there is a weeks of clapping for carers. Medical stuff clapping which probably started innocently and with good intentions. I'm sure it did come up. The paradox. Quiet insistent terror that comes from knowing that for all practical purposes is no healthcare. And we've been betrayed by politicians and bureaucrats who decided to devote entire healthcare programs to caring for a relatively small number of patients. Who have though might be so to have or be susceptible to the flu like virus. All this was done as part of the process of mind. Control telling people to stand on their doorsteps at eight. Pm on Thursdays and to clap is a simple repetitive tasks which is part of the massive noces. The clapping mass started out in Asahi but it was quickly and enthusiastically promoted by the people who want to influence our lives persuading people to do what you want them to do. Is Part of the hypnotherapy prosise getting people to KLOPP was also important in that it made people believe in the danger of the coronavirus and the bravery of those working in healthcare. It helped people accept the fact that there were no beds venable for patients with cancer or any other serious disorder. I mean when I heard this I was also a little miffed. I haven't we haven't looked close enough of this At these Some of it but now we have to think about it. We've looked as close as we can probably more than any other podcasts. Newscast or anybody. That does mainstream media. That's for sure but well we haven't done which it seems to me as I listened to this and I I believe the whole thing. It's a good clip guys. Okay I don't care about his letter's now less concerned but I'll say this only comes coordinating. Who OR WHY? Hello World Co. What's the world coordination and in anybody breaks ranks like Brazil? "Now that sounds like he ate us the Social Liberal Party candidate, right? But you know, the parties throughout the world with their names. And you think oh my God. What they turned out to be exactly the opposite of what you think they may be the names are strange the help parties are named throughout the country throughout the world. And sometimes it means absolutely nothing. I've tell you often every time we run into this subject of how political parties are named when I lived over in England, very briefly. There was a party up in Manchester that actually gained a seat in the lower house, and they were called the let's have a party party. And it was predicated on just having a good time. But they actually were able to put a group together and actually pick up a seat in parliament, the let's have a party party. Why not? So one promise that I told you that Bolsonaro made rang true for some reason really struck a chord with Brazilians was this move of the embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. And you know, who else did that and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated this claim on Sunday announcing in Brazil that boss narrow told him the embassy move is not a question of if it's just a matter of win as I told you before the break, and it's like call the moving vans. Trump signed into law the Asia reassurance initiative act which calls on the US president to sin high level officials to Taiwan and to regularly sell arms to Taiwan. So what do you make of the US elements in Taiwan issue? Yes. I think the United States right now is fast becoming the most important and most dangerous political false aiding and abetting the so called the independence movement in Taiwan, and this roms of fall with determination and the spirit of the Chinese nation in defending the one China policy, and I mean, people both to size of straight. I think the United States should take lesson from the results of the recent local elections in Palawan where for example, if he suffered a major loss, and they KMT enjoyed a major victory now KMT through his representatives control more than up to about seventy percent of the local governments. See, for example. Where's DP river? You control the less than probably percent. So I think the message is very clear to everyone. I want everyone here mainland China, but also to everyone in the United States to the whole world matters, the people in Taiwan, you not want to combined patient with playmate China, they won't have peace and stability and better living spend it and one of the United States is doing is counter to these objectives to these inspirations and the demands on the people in Taiwan, and I think China will not tolerate this China will spend from president. She's being is very clear when it declared that China wants to seek peaceful reunification between mainland China and Taiwan. I actually how how do we understand those does this men? There's the possibility that the Chinese men that may take Taiwan by force. I hope not I hope reason and rationality will prevail between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait mainly because if we look at the reality cross-strait, economic integration is already affair dot on plea. China's mainland is the largest trading partner for China's Taiwan province and at any given day. US president Donald form plans to remove the right to citizenship for babies of non-citizens and unauthorized immigrants born in the United States. You can definitely do it with an act of congress. But now they're saying I can do it just with an executive order. Now. How ridiculous were the only country in the world where a person comes in has a baby and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for eighty five years with all of those benefits. It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. And it has to end the fourteenth amendment of the US constitution guarantees divide to citizenship for everyone born on US soil to immigrant parents. Whether those parents are in the country legal. Alie or not more than thirty countries. Most in the western hemisphere provides birthright citizenship and learning the constitution requires a two-thirds majority of congress, but Trump insists he can do it with an executive order. His comments come one week ahead of the highly contested midterm elections, which could see Democrats seizing control of the house of representatives form has been looking to put immigration front and at thunder of the elections for more. We're now joined on the line by shit help professor of American studies at Beijing. Foreign Studies in versity getting professorship, thanks for joining us. Hello, good evening. So first of all does don't legally have the power to erase the constitution with an executive order. This is a highly complicated question. I would say that president does not have the authority to Nali fi a constitutional amendment simply by signing executive order. No, president has ever attempted to what Donald Trump says he will do but he probably will do it. But I think in this will take a long time before the executive order either becomes a Nollie fide by supreme court decision or by some acts of congress. So regardless it's gonna take a long long time, probably four months or three months or half a year. You know, who knows tell us more about the fourteenth amendment? Why is it so important and what role has played a back in the American history. Well, anybody who's for me? There was US history. Especially the civil war knows that the fourteenth amendment was adopted the primarily on or have to say exclusively with African Americans in mind, and so the fourteenth amendment's reads at all persons born or naturalized being states and subject to the jurisdiction there off our citizens of the United States of America and the state that that person residing, so they language does not specify this is, you know, aimed at African-Americans, but everybody members of congress that time knew who voted for this amendment knew that this was targeting African Americans. And so if you want to understand the background you have to really go back to congressional record and look at the debates at a minute s- have why members of congress voted for or against the management? But again, let me say this is again, the background is about this. Civil war African American score deprived up their citizenship. So today when President Donald Trump prints out this issue, you have a totally different context. And it totally different, you know, politically environment. Yes, but wisdom midterm elections. Just one week away many have called us move political. So would you agree that this was designed more to help Republicans in the midterms than to serve as some kind of serious policy solutions..

"The voters now they are looking for something new or someone else. Why is that? Well, we can say as a. President elect the bus Alano is something like Trump, but about is not the same as Hillary Clinton. They two different persons. About. Just presents the workers the poppy. And poppy and does something for the poor people. So well, some people in Brazil concerned about the possibility that if adopted. Other can get office can get power in Brazil, then Brazil will become a second Venezuela or second to Cuba. That's why people vote for for not. But at the same time, we must understand that many voters don't like narrow so you can see that as a whole you something like forty something. And also fifty something the whole society is highly divided. So this is also a challenge you for the new president T must I'm seeing narrows divide between between the two sides. So if we look at the situations around the world, we see Pakistan, his has elected a former cricket star as new prime minister and various President George wear used. To be a footballer, and plus Donald foam and the job narrowed. You think it is reflection of anxiety, not only in Brazil, which is economy is in difficulty and with high crime rates, but also among the voters around the world that that this world is changing faster that current politicians can can hardly manage. Well. Yes, you're right. You know, impractical life when someone dome lack of banana, then there will try to eat that kind of able they want to see which is better. So nowadays, all I wanna say in the in the pasta when baking also many countries in the world. This is kind of a kind of political knowledge, which is the anti establishment. Okay. So people don't like this kind of politicians. So they want to try another type of politicians. They so they believe that. Now, the politician in the camp of anti establishment might you in all kinds of problems. So they want to vote for this guy like narrow so what will be the challenges ahead for job Nora when he takes office. Well, lots of things my understanding that the economy is the most important that you cannot promote canonic worse later, then people will be angry. So I would say that the buzzer narrow should put push your phone economic growth. Right. I. And I just regard. I was saying China can offer a certain kind of a helping hand for him. But as you know, that income plan he said something which you would she was not so friendly China. So I hope he will change his mind that he will take some kind of friendly measures regarding Chinese investment, and the China relationship, Brazil, we we must we must have know that between China, and the Brazil, we have some comprehensive strategic partnership. This partnership is very important this partnership in China and also good for Brazil. Yes, actually asked you said boss narrow one said, the Chinese are not buying in Brazil. They are buying Brazil. How'd you look at such comments? Well, because she's a Trump of Brazil. So in the campaign, he keeps the say anything so well in order to attract attention from the media. I mean, he said all kinds of things which are not accepted by many many people. So so so buzzer narrow is Benin with Toby some Trump on the Trump Trump and all your Trump of South America. So well, we have to see what he's going to do. And what he going to say. So what does narrows Ming for Brazil and Wadi say likely to do once an office? Is a popular saying in Brazil. It goes like this Grenville is a country of the future. But the future is always tomorrow that to say the future never come. We'll preview is a nice country with lots of natural resources and very nice condition for if we cannot ending. But you know, in the past half a century or even longer this country has been suffering from all kinds of difficulties and particularly in the positive over year economy is sluggish crime rates are rising all kinds of things and also corruption widespread so people and the voters I just tired all these kind of currency tracing. And they don't believe that the mainstream politicians are Brazil can deal with you kind of problems who wish someone like narrow can can came make magic or he can be a kind of a major ship that came Q all the disease of Brazil. But who knows what will happen? Do you think he will bring magic to the society to Brazil in terms of economy corruption at cetera. Well, for the time being I believe that we we cannot say he he is not able to achieve something. I think he will put the job of fighting against the crime on Hugh, pop agenda, and he promised the English campaign. And then he might do something about the economy. I don't believe that he can achieve everything he promised in the campaign. But well, just we have interesting what what what kind of policy he's going to pay well actually drive narrow as natives far-right fuller Titian that has risen to power around the world. So what do you think has Vatican is and pull arised the politics in today's world. Yes. I believe that almost twenty years ago when Charles became President Obama's Israel, many people say that that sauce America all the whole region. My My guy. has it been on a C so called a team pink tie. That means the left wing political forces. I'm the right. And somebody say that Europe is walkie was that right? And then Marica at one walking towards the left. But now from that to the left in that region is suffering from big Assefa back, and we can see that particularly in the possible. Yes. Some of the right wing politicians have again the power, and well who who knows what will happen. But I'm not surprised to see that this kind of political ender swings from NAFTA to rise and from writer left in my judgment. Is that almost the today after a time spent on vacation this kind of pendulum would swing back in the fall. So now that just kind of political pendulum is. Switching from Nestle. Right. And I can predict probably in almost twenty years later probably just kind of pendulum will come back again from writers left. Well, this is quite common. Well, actually, be sized to the swing from left to riot.
