And just the generosity and attention you've shown to the community and thinking about how it's lessons could translate more broadly. That was really instructive for me. Well, honored. He should just go. Because he hasn't been to Rikers in over four years. The mayor of New York City's Rikers is in mayhem. And he hasn't been there in four years. And now because we have the state legislators come there, you know, because they want to pass. This less is more. Bill and and now he's ready to put this emergency plan in action. You know, if an officer is that considered a wall, they're going to be suspended for 30 days on the spot before you know, we get our due process. And and what the average for doesn't understand is that If I'm a single parent as a correction officer, and I basically have a sick child and I have to rush my child to the emergency room. I have to call the command for personal emergency. And if that personal emergency is denied by the tour commander, then technically I will be a war and then my next tour of duty. I have to bring in my documentation to show that I had a personal emergency, so this plan will put people Um, in in in the street for 30 days without pay, You know, it's ridiculous. We're working 25, plus hours a day, you know, no meal breaks. This is this is unheard of for any other city agency in New York. And they wonder why we are not coming to work. We're exhausted, You know, well suffering from major injuries from assaults with From these inmates because now there are no consequences for their actions. You know, it's it's just mayhem and crazy man. It's terrible again. We are speaking with the president of the corrections officer, P B. A. Benny Bosio. What about the National Guard? I know the city Council has been calling for them to come in. Do you think that that would help? I mean, look, you know, we'll take all the help we can get, you know, realistic leader that I believe the National Guard could probably only deal with the perimeter of Rikers Island. But I mean, you know, it's that Stressful for everybody being overworked like this. It's become a real dangerous situation for my officers, you know, and something's got to get done because this is outrageous. We have to take a break when you stay on from the for about a minute. Just by osmosis and dealing with the everyday the adults on this college campus play a huge role right. An athlete who there on scholarship be basketball football wrestling softball swimming and diving. Whatever you look at the to coach in this pollyanna type of situation. That i'm bringing a force to you. The coach is supposed to be your your father figure to be looking out for you. He's supposed to have your best interest in heart. Not in how many points scored and how touchdown throw. Not how many times you hit a home. Run those type of things we're talking about. He's gonna make sure that you graduate. He's gonna make sure that you were responsibility. He's gonna make sure that when you believe his program albeit what program that is that you are going to be a much better person than when you came in with the life lessons. That was taught by this coach. You're going to then off to society to be an outstanding father and outstanding husband and be a productive member of society of move to society along in a positive and that's all gonna be shaped and molded and learn with this coach. All these college campuses with the help of course not only the coach but also these wonderful professors wonderful school administrators. Who are looking out for your best interest right right. Isn't that right right. The most important thing college education isn't that the propaganda that everybody throws the stuff that i gobbled up and learn when i was young. Lord have mercy of. Don't have yourself a college degree. Well boy you wisdom you in a world of trouble tell you. You'll never be able to buy a house. They'll never be able to have a great life. You'll never be able to have any money. You'll never be able to have the success in all the materialistic things that you want because goodness gracious.
