Green Bay Packers Reach One-Year Deal With Veteran QB Blake Bortles

"Reportedly set to sign veteran quarterback Blake Bortles. He had spent his first five seasons with the Jaguars spent parts of last season with the Broncos and the Rams. This coming as the uncertainty around Aaron Rodgers remains with the Packers. Well, that seems to make it a little more real right. Yeah, For sure. I mean, I think you know, going into it. Oh, camps and O. T s and things like that. It's going with one quarterback. So, um, it's starting to feel real that the possibility of Aaron Rodgers not playing for the Packers next year. Which is pretty

NFL Franchise Tag: What it is and how it works

"What is a franchise tax. So you hear this word a lot. I always used to think franchise tag means. We're just gonna see that player on that specific team for the remaining of the season but there or for the next year but they're a little more complicated in that so every offseason teams have a two week window to plot to a one year franchise tag so once the player gets tagged they can either sign that contract or a long term extension. Which is the more i think. That's the more popular use of the franchise tag because a of teams don't want their their coveted players to hit free agency and they don't want another to swoop them without getting being able to offer them. I so these salaries for for each tag varies by position and the price is set by either adding the top five paid players from each position or it can be one hundred percent of a player's previous year's salary so twenty percent Increase in that salary so by position quarterback at least twenty six million a year with the franchise tag water. She was get seventeen million defensive ends get around seventeen million but less than receivers linebackers get fifteen million and so on and so forth. I think running backs get around ten million so it all depends on how guys are being being paid at that specific position so teams only can use this once a year and they can only use it on one player you can use it on the same player different years but yeah you can only had us one tag per year. There's different types of tags. There's an exclusive franchise tag which means players can't negotiate it all with other teams. There's a non exclusive franchise tag where other teams can make an offer and then The the team that has that player can match that offered and take the player And then there's a tradition. Tax tradition tags are similar to non-exclusive but players get an average of top ten position salaries instead of top five. So there's a little bit of a my discrepancy there and once the tag is applied teams have until mid july to renegotiate the contract. So like i said most common use for these franchise tag is not let a player. They want hit free agency. They wanna keep them around and then negotiate a more long-term deal to save some money and get under the cap for the foreseeable future so these somewhat can be slightly unfair A lot of players disliked the franchise tag for example on robinson is voiced his opinions against the franchise tag because it plays a lot of restrictions on upper-echelon players. So when a player like allen robinson gets franchise tagged they can't really find the real market value because they have that set price on them and if they wanted to go explore free agency then they could go interview with a bunch of teams test the waters and see what their actual worth is rather than getting a set number Just put on them so that's somewhat unfair This makes them have no financial security past one season. So if there's an injury then you know they just their value could just completely plummet. Under the franchise tag now players can hold out. That's really the only leverage they have in the su- situation but you know that's asking a lot of a player to put their public. Perception line put their reputation with the fans on the line and so most players don't do that but it has gotten to that point before so most cases players work at a deal for the tag comes into place in july which is the deadline for them to restructure. Or make that deal. So now i'm gonna get into what players have got tagged so far and What does that mean for. These teams moving forward. I player i wanted to discuss. Is alan robinson so. This one was obvious when it had to be done. Bears have a lot of uncertainty at the at the quarterback situation. So i don't think they wanted to make a long term deal without knowing where what direction they were gonna go with the quarterback. But you couldn't let player of this caliber and a player. This talented gopher nothing in return so in twenty twenty roms a career. High one hundred two passes for twelve hundred fifty yards. And he's only twenty seven which is pretty remarkable considering everything he's been through he had a tornado in two thousand seventeen with jacksonville. And he's really played with really bad quarterbacks over the years he's had blake bortles who's a backup slash bouncing around the league and he's played with mitch trubisky. Who's a failed first round pick for the chicago bears. And he's still been that he's had that production there no matter what. So i really wanna see robinson play with upper echelon quarterback and i just think if you give him a russell wilson someone who's above slightly above average maybe even just average than his numbers will go up. Even more is ridiculous so like i said he's a true number one receiver. I would argue top five in the league. He's either gonna play for seventeen million in two thousand twenty which is what his franchise tag number. I think he's looking for more around twenty million and easier gonna play under that contract or he can hold out. Which i think is definitely a possibility with this player just because of the displeasure. He's voiced on social media and kind of how players of rallied. His teammates have rallied rallied around him and they really want to see him get paid but when you look at the market value so he's gonna get paid seventeen million the tag next year.

Rams' Sean McVay noncommittal on future of Jared Goff as starter: 'I'm evaluating everything, including QB'

"So there's been a lot of talk you know. Mcvay doesn't criticize a lot of people. And even when he does he's chose to sugar coat and everything's on the table so you may have heard. Essentially he said saturday after the playoff loss to the packers that jared goff quarterback right now with the emphasis on the last two words there sunday. He said everything's on the table but maybe he was giving us an indication that this was happening and things were bubbling a couple of weeks ago. Go back to their first playoff game. There wildcard game against the seattle seahawks key. This is just me speculating. You tell me having been in so many locker rooms and having dealt with so many situations right that game john. Wolford is starting quarterback. Jared goff is the number two quarterback with a thumb injury. This is important. there is no number. Three quarterback blake bortles inactive. So if john wolford where to get injured during the game which actually happened very scary neck injury ambulance came out. Then jared goff would presumably have to come in for the next snap and with no number three quarterback he would have to presumably play the rest of the game. So help me understand. If you're in a situation where wolfer gets hurt on the second snap. Hypothetically fourth snap the game. You've got a rush right in there and likely finished the game because nobody is behind you on the depth chart if you were healthy enough to do that. Play almost every single. Snap of a game if something goes wrong with the starter right out of the gate which is exactly what happened. How in the world are you not healthy enough to start. I think look in the end. It's all about numbers. If they put three quarterbacks up the somebody else has to go down and on an active list. And maybe they wanna. I don't know what they wanted. But maybe they want an extra defense alignment or extra offense alignment or whatever the case may be also when you didn't have the necessary reps throughout the course of the week for jared goff as he was practicing because of the surgery they kind of eased him alone in kind of wanted to let it heal but he was forced in action so therefore the you had no other choice.

"Quarterback Drew lock is reflecting on washing last Sunday's game against the Saints. When wide receiver Kendall Hiten played quarterback. Was it coverage? You feeling the whole time? You know us, It was tough is really tough. It wasn't something I enjoyed doing. All of Denver's quarterbacks were not eligible to play against the Saints because of coronavirus protocol violations. Locked tells us about his conversation with Hinton the Monday after the games and I'm so proud of you for going out there. It tastes. You know, it takes a lot of guts and a lot of hard together, go out there and do what you did in the circumstances that you did You said much respect for what you guys doing out, of course, but I was just really proud of them available out there and try to leave that team. Poland election result: Narrow victory for conservative incumbent Andrzej Duda

"President Andrew has won the country's election after a closely fought contest. Let's get the latest now. With bortles Warsaw correspondent Annabel Chapman get off. Annabelle it's. It's a very very very tight. Vote me does that? Is that in itself? Instructive? Does that tell us anything extra? It really shows that the country is very divided. The two candidates. Who Represent different different outlooks? I wanted. Then you know what what Marcus can we can we going then about? The direction the country's headed, and we know, of course as so often misses a narrative we see and a lot of countries that have populace in in charge. It's about relationship with external stay. organizations like the European. Union etc, D-. Can we now start to see the next steps that Poland may take even if it's slightly tentative well. Reelection Andrzej do the conservative president means that the country will continue going in the same direction as it has been going, which means a strengthening of the ruling party's grip on the stage in its democratic institutions under. The this is one of the key narratives I guess. If we look across the Western media the papers here in this country, lots of people we've spoken to. Is this deep concern about you know pressure being brought to bear on the? Judiciary areas like civil rights gay rights. and people said you know although they knew that do is likely to be return. They held out some hope that we could see some progress there, but it definitely doesn't feel that, does it? and. Hope that. Trust skied, Wilson was liberal woodwind, and even less my as the exit polls where being announced, there was still a lot of hope among liberal voters I was at the election evening. Mr Scope Skin W- also, and there were a lot of young people that who already holding out until the last minutes won't just to that point. Is there any prospect you think of any? Any contest contesting of the results as you said already very slim, and when the votes that marginally sometimes you can see these things to the the courts. Any is anyone you hearing that from anybody? I mean there will definitely be complaints filed to the cords. Tolling in the mix as a funding option to pay for West Seattle Bridge fix

"Have started talking how to pay for repairing or replacing the West Seattle Bridge and yes, what's in the mix Tolly. Bortles. Chris has the latest on this. We don't know what the total B no, but it's being, but it's being wrapped up like a gift so that it can When it's open, weaken under a pit and see this beautiful new bridge. Well, maybe maybe not paid for it. Yeah, because right now we don't know if we're going to replace it and repair it. That decision still hasn't been made seriously. There's still talking that yes, they think this wrap could actually make it traffic worthy o. The rap would allow them to get it on there tool to make whatever fixed I think that all of the rap is going to do is to keep it from crumbling on its own and to pray, give a little extra ability to put load on it to see what they could do to try to repair it. But we haven't made that choice yet. Right now. We're talking about financing whatever decision They do come up with in downtown mobility Director Heather Mark says. Everything is on the table. You need to explore every funding option because my favorite joke about this is we're going to need five bucks from everybody. It's unlikely that anyone funding option is going to be enough. So we have to pursue every funding options. And if you alluded to day that includes the T word, which is now tolling. Right now. There is no real understanding of what tolling would actually mean for this project, or how much tolling would be needed to help fund it. Mark says. A complete investment grade traffic and revenue study will be done to get at those answers. It's gonna investigate tolling scenarios and related traffic diversion. That traffic diversion has an impact. And so this study would help us described and understand what kind of impact that diversion would have on the rest of the system. As you would imagine. Even the thought of tolling is that something that people in west Seattle are really fired up about one in terms of being for it. Dan Austin runs a restaurant in West Seattle. His Well, his customers have been telling them. Yeah, I don't think people are gonna riot. If there is a toll is been very clear from my customer base in evil I speak with, he says West. Seattle's been through enough, West Seattle said 12 years of traffic disruption between the Spokane Street whitening Vaida tear down, And now this this wonderful project we're going to get charged for being disconnected from the rest of the region. It's gonna It's gonna be a hard sell for folks. So when we say everything is on the table, I mean, we're talking federal dollars grants, loans moving current dollars from other projects and priorities, and you know the shell game that goes on there. There could even be a citywide ballot measure to approve new taxes to fund this project. I mean, they're grasping at straws to try to find ways to finance this certainly concerned the way that the federal component of projects like this has gone down over the last several decades, and you know through a pandemic. It's not like people are opening up their wallets to these kinds of things. As for the bridge itself. Contractor task was shoring up the cracking span is close to getting the first sections of carbon fibre rap installed. We are excited to be on the bridge and doing this work to stabilize it on significantly mineral minimise the risk of collapse in the future. City Bridge. Engineer Matt Donahue says the contractor should be hoisting the work platform into place on Monday. They're cutting holes in the bridge. So that we can take wire rope hoists that air amounted to steel frames. Place them on the top of the bridge, dropped those wire ropes down through the holes that we cut for access. Then pick up a lifting frame that's currently sitting next to the bridge. Then they're going to do some post tensioning work to try to shore things up. Take the load off. The bearing that's having the problems there on the on one of the piers, get it out of the way, and then they're going to start with carbon fibre rapping. As for the replacement side of the equation, the city will take a complete look at the tunnel option that was made clear during the task force meeting yesterday. That's going to be added to the cost benefit analysis, So it appears the tunnel is going to get at least a fair shake from the experts as a potential replacement. Going forward to this cracking span. I'm trying to imagine how this is gonna work. So there's this carbon rap doesn't come on rolls like cellophane, and they just wrap it around the concrete. It's basically I think, as I describe it to you before it looks and feels too. My best guess kind of what you do with a cast these days. You know that kind of the you know the ones that colored cast And you and yes, you mean you wrap it around, and what it's trying to do is, you know, keep the cracks from moving at a little, You know, add the support to it so they can actually put people up on the bridge safely. That will help mitigate Yes. So they're basically going to wrap it there. Some pictures will be upon the bridge just to wrap it. Don't that is correct and underneath. That's what this lifting platform is going to do. I mean, they're going to put the giant Hoisting mechanisms. They're on the bridge. But and then you know, short up from that way from underneath and around and then do the post tensioning. So it's It's Yeah, me. Basically, it is what it is. They're just going to wrap it in this carbon fibre to make it as strong as it possibly can be to handle the extra load and see if they can Restricts some of this. The cracking in its start turning this thing, the other

London Calling: Why The U.K. Makes Sense For The Chargers

"A report from the at the athletic that the NFL is considering a move of the chargers from L. A. to London because of some of the athletics Vinnie bonsignore sparked a a big conversation this week when he reported that the NFL has broached the possibility of the chargers moving overseas and that's twenty got quite the response aunts from the chargers owner Dean spanos bizarre home. This were planning for a long period. Okay at one me to say it again. Good again today. We're going to talk with anybody in your about the possibility of the chargers moving into London Spanish response to his story and why the move actually make a lot of sense from in the athletic. I'm could beat the Davidson and I'm under scelzo hotel. It's Thursday November seven. And this is. It felt like something was happening here is. You're something about the emotion and that's not good. This isn't a story it it stays with me All right so Vinnie. Oh you've you've had a busy week here. Can you just explain to us what is going on with the Los Angeles chargers the NFL has talked about the possibility of maybe savy moving. The chargers to London and I also reported that there is part of a charges organization people in charge organization. Who are at least willing to listen to see what? That's all about what that might be all about. I wouldn't say that they're in any hurry to move to. London chargers owner Dean Spanos has pretty adamantly denied. Your report for the team is even considering leaving. LA or looking toward London And here's what Dean Spanos said in response to your reporting total title okay. We're not going to London. We're not going anywhere so we're playing Los Angeles. Czar home is planning to be for a long and period. Okay and won't say it again. I'll say it again okay You know not not surprised and I feel like he in a way. He has to do that because he needs to show that he's committed to Los Angeles. I actually I know that sort of came at my expense events in in some roundabout way you know I. I actually respect him and admire him for showing some backbone like that and being emphatic. That this is where he is in Los Angeles Angeles is where he wants to be. This is where he's committed to being and I believe that he is actually believe that he is. But that doesn't mean that you know there's a little bit of curiosity at least a unwillingness to to if the NFL CAM to the chargers and said Hey let's talk about this at least examine. Let's take a look at what might be possible In in London there's a willingness to listen and that shows to me somewhat of an openness to the possibility of it and why why would the chargers even look to London. And what's what's in it for them with London specifically they would have a stadium to play in all. These teams wanted to move to new stadiums or build new stadiums. Why because that's how you're you're talking about luxury suites and clubs and restaurants all the bells and whistles that are available in these newer venues that are revenue streams for owners? Charges were playing in a building rolling. That was that's over fifty years old in San Diego. Likewise for the for the for the raiders and certainly for the rams right now so that access to those revenue streams weren't available eligible to and that's why they needed to get new stadiums to compete with everyone else at a level that everyone else wise with those type of revenue streams. So you would have a stadium in Tottenham that has those revenue streams would have an open market. You would have political support. You would have the corporate entities to partner up with you know for advertising and sponsorship up in all of those everything is there for them and more so no other. NFL team and no other professional basketball team. Yeah you're dealing with soccer for sure But there's a it's a it's a wide open Not just city but region and really a continent to be able to market yourselves and certainly be the only the NFL team so the the top dog in that region so that would be available to them in a fan base that I believe in a lot of other people believe whether they remained and the London chargers or rebrand into the London. Monarchs or something along those lines. Something that represented London a fan base. That would absolutely welcome them with open arms arms and just unfortunately it hasn't been the case on a big level here in Los Angeles. And that New Tottenham Stadium that that you mentioned that Tottenham Stadium was actually built with the NFL in mind yet no doubt about it they partnered with the NFL To do that. The new sixty thousand seat stadium will open in London in the summer number of two thousand eighteen and will feature retractable grass field with artificial turf underneath the turf will be used specifically for NFL Games and will allow for flexibility in scheduling scheduling. In April. The Guardian reported that Tottenham was considering sharing its new stadium with the future London. NFL Franchise and you also have locker room considerations you know when when they go to Wembley Stadium you have to basically build out locker rooms for an NFL team and then they have to change that back over to to to suit a soccer team which is a much less fewer players. And so. That's a challenge to do that. The new stadium has two sets of locker rooms that are NFL caliber NFL ready right. Now there's practice sites that would be available to them in conjunction with all that so everything from a stadium. Standpoint was from that from that stadium standpoint was done with the NFL in mind and with the NFL's assistance and vinny. How would you expect fans in London to to take in the chargers? I think that you know because there is no other. NFL team there I think and and because there's you know a passionate NFL fan base there I think they would be welcomed as heroes you know breaking that barrier You know telling the rest of the world. Hey we want to be in London we want to bring an NFL team team to London. I think there would be great passion for that. So there's been some pushback both just to your story specifically but also just to the general idea of of London as a viable permanent home for an NFL team. There are logistical issues. I'd be shocked at the. NFL OVER PUTS A team in London. Here's what too many logistical problems travel issues. Think about this as it currently stands if you've got an away game and you're NFL player unless it's the other side of the country leave on Saturday. You're back Sunday night. You Go London you go on a road trip. You're going for two or three weeks because they're not going to be hopping back and forth every week like a normal schedule. I mean it's it's three thousand miles away from the East Coast and that makes it close six thousand miles away from from Los Angeles So there's GonNa be some long road trips. During the regular season I think the schedule makers are are wise enough and savvy enough to be able to construct a schedule so that the teams that are going to London. Let's say the rams are GonNa play the London whoever's they would go play somewhere on the east coast the week before their trip to London. So you you're at least somewhat in the right right time zone. The other challenges when London teams come to plan the United States. You can't just have them coming back and forth back and forth for one game In talking to League people most likely what you would do is just having come out here for maybe two or three game Swing so they would set up some homebase somewhere and play their games in the United United States and then go home but all of those things I think can be worked out well so do. NFL players do guys in the NFL have any interest in playing in London. Some guys would love it. Some guys don't want to be somewhere. That Far Away Blake Bortles told me you know. Before he had a family he probably would have jumped at the chance or would have way more open now that he has a family. Wow what about school. What do I move my family over there or do they keep him in the United States? While I'm playing the season there's there's some of those issues but for every one player that would resist it. I think you'd be surprised to find. How many would be open to the idea of going to another continent to be able to maximize their exposure sir in their in their brand and I think fell players look at NBA players? And how they've been able to do that on a much bigger scale than just domestically and certainly you know you could look at soccer in the premier league and European soccer players and how they have become world star is not just stars in the countries that they play in the continents that they play in the NFL players are saying there's a Lotta the opportunity to really maximize our windows here. So going to Europe where we would be the only football team in town might not be a bad thing when you look at it from that perspective. I think you would have a players at absolutely look at it from that perspective.

"So today was a bevy of traits all all sorts of craziness happening Sheila Ramsey being shipped from the rams sorry for the jags to the rams for two first of forced workers peers to ship the rams all the way over to Baltimore brother moves I'd like to talk about like how how old this ins up working out for teams around this time right you get into a position where maybe you're a buyer maybe your seller what do you think goes through the minds of of teams that are only six games into the season at this point yeah you know it's hard because the trade deadline is so early in the season and the way that it's all like baseball where it's you know the end of July and you know if you're in it or not so it's difficult but what's interesting to me is is over the past few years you know it wasn't that long ago there were rarely NFL trades and now all of a sudden you're seeing a lot more activity in a couple of weeks before the trade trade deadline at that so it's fascinating is sort of the changes but you know you look at the standings and there are what a couple of teams the dolphins the red you know who can legitimate Cincinnati can legitimately say they're not going to make the playoffs right everybody else is still in the mix and and that's what makes it so hard in some of these obviously were person you know personnel issues more so the horse and and talent but we feel like the Broncos I mean for example they went they if they somehow be the chiefs there only one game out of the AFC west to relieve me of sweat that that's how close it I just I find interesting bed that it's if you have to you making this decision at this point to either be a buyer or seller and he said there's only a couple teams a real legitimately say that well yeah we're we're not in position to win right now yeah yeah I do know I just found it interesting look at the rams at this Sean McVay said you know all the three and thirteen twenty six Jaguars at four sixteen Jack or some people get three players from them that's what's gonna put us over the top here ready to go get Blake Bortles Dante Fowler Jaylen Ramsey what I really put this thing over the topic pages that one man's trash is another man's treasure yes well but I I I think it's deeper than that it's the when you look at a team like the rams they trade away Marcus Peters but then they trade for Jaylen Ramsey clearly they didn't have a need at corner thanks what they had a need to do was to move one guy and bring a new guy and so that's why you know it's personality stuff it goes back yeah I want to bring up Antonio brown again but it's it's it goes back to was a guy fitting it is a guy causing trouble and obviously Jaylen Ramsey everybody knows what was going on in Jacksonville right in computers computers was a kind of the consummate teammate in LA but he did have some issues with some coaches there as well that's part of the reason you get the whole circular movement there with all that kind of stuff you saw a lot of outpouring of support from teammates for Marcus Peters when he was dealt then we see that with the jailer Remzi on that bill team chemistry I mean you've been a lot a locker rooms and like like I think we talk about that thing is like it's it's a big it's a big deal because deal but then there's like the other other segment that says I mean personality is one thing but performance is another Jill Ramsey's could still consider were the best quarterbacks in the league that's gonna put up some of that he probably is the best I any any is what twenty four years old I think I mean he's so big pick up for the rams the question is how do you fit in and I I think it's it's a mix I mean you look back at teams that have been had tremendously talented rosters that maybe there was some issue in the in the in the in the you know whether it's with the chemistry or in the locker room or somehow between coaches and players and that can that can dive bomber team at the same time in do need talent but these guys as you know spend every day together for months and months and months and it's important that they get along so if if one guy is is causing issues I think it probably makes

UK's Johnson moves to suspend Parliament ahead of Brexit

"Hell has broken loose this morning. As boris johnson announced his intention to schedule a queen's speech on the fourteenth of october and suspend parliament for the four or five weeks beforehand james this completely appended the battle between boris johnson the anti no deal factions in parliament so yesterday you had the opposition bodies coming together so they basically look look at passing a law to force boris johnson to seek an extension. This is essentially dining streets response. I it is a move designed to massively limit the amount aalto time available for passing any such law and it is essentially saying to m._p.'s when palmer returns on tuesday you'll ever need to know confidence me all except for i'm basically kept my my way essentially but you also see in this letter here center m._p.'s as well so abortions and he is trying to save piece bear with me. I'm still aiming for deal so this is still not a government. This is explicitly aiming for no deal now. I think you can't say this is in tani. Johny normal constitutional procedure in the length of the population is long is long by modern signs is a very long one but it is also not a totally unprecedented maneuver people who came out you know coups and we're all getting over heated because this is what what happens before queen speech but obviously the time you miss queensmead is designed to limit as much as possible for legislative options available to suppose m._p.'s trying to stop a not brexit and is about. Do you think the opposition m._p.'s failed to get the act together to watch respond to this properly. They are going to be able to get. I bet act together because even they yesterday we had three different things saying they will do anything anything possible to stop and they still brexit we also saw in that frenzy of activity quite how split these groups are even the turks jeremy cope with physician leaders basically broke up with the the two different groups who jeremy corbyn those he invited saying slightly different things about what they degrade them and then you've got the church house declaration which was organized ice bhai formulate m._p. Luciana perjuring existing labour m._p. Steven downs he hit which again is a slightly different grouping of m._p. As some of you wouldn't want to work with jeremy corbyn there were few torey empty signed that declaration but then if you'd have to the conservative group which it doesn't have a leader doesn't have a name of the quds squads that has a split as we were discussing on yesterday's pause between those who want to stop no deal and those who actually want to stop brexit and they've been coming up up against these differences for months now perhaps boris johnson is done the favor by basically eighty forcing them into some kind of action but it's very difficult to see how they are going to be able to agree over the next few days. What that course of action is going to be and on who's going entity in charge of in yellow thing. This is a reminder of these downing street is not going to play by the conventional rules which is ah wanted that evacuate a bill which was designed to make the prime minister seeking extension were because theresa may essentially cooperated with it. I think it's quite clear porcelain since prepared to perogie broke parliament in this matter if pond postal requiring him to seek an extension he would find some way to that that there's one obvious way to do that would repeat request extension in such a way e e would be bound to refuse it so for example parliament's as you got to request an extension bortles and says right so that's donald tusk saying <music>. I'm requesting. Essential palmans told me but by the way i'm going to be the most bloody difficult and obstreperous member of year you've ever seen i'm more offense. Century prevent you from functioning as an organization the e._u. Would refuse circumstances alternatively. He could say well. I wade davis so if you want to promise ican extension. You've got to bring me down. Bring them up. This whole signaled the no confidence vote in this whole issue of jeremy corbyn because obviously jeremy kobe doesn't allow anyone else become prime minister other than him but backing jeremy jeremy kuhlman is as his body was saying is is too much for lots of tory m._p.'s ano- say philosophy is growing group of independent m._p.'s. You've left that party or or arbor policies because ideological differences is it does seem that boston has slightly stepped away from the nuclear option that probation isn't going to happen over the brexit deadline headline on the first of october. Why do you think that is. I think it basically gives him enough time again. As james says to just tutorial m._p.'s that he does else he does still want to see a deal also gives him in time for the next few weeks and over the conference recess to do some of those negotiations but also to to set out domestic stole the letter that he said to 'em piece today basically tried to justify prorogation on grounds that the government needed a bold new domestic agenda and the time had already been wasted over the past three years with bill's very worthy but we've just really seen as a way of repulsing the time in parliament's and so that's his justification for education but what it also does means that the government can talk about what it wants to do domestically okay ahead of the election that everyone is now expecting to be called in reasonably short order

"You missed out a medieval times john. I was the night before bowling right and then you were the night after medieval times and what i hear you made the apps you're like who is it lauren hill that does concerts and shows up an hour and a half late and sings for ten thousand leaves that was you i was there on time then i was like kaiser soza and you're gone which isn't a bad move but they did get one very good picture of you in a what looks depite dr yeah medieval garb and they actually gave me a mace <hes> so venice mason amazed by the way big question today. Is this straight edge mace or or is this venice mace girl in the straight edge. The guy in the back is yelling. Venice mace which basically is is whether or not mason shows up stoned but i think you had to drive straight edge medicines straight edge mace someday. I'll do a show where orig- venice mace and everybody will invite be invited to see exactly how stupid i am actually make the show better yeah hey so. Are you gonna watch the ram game tomorrow night yeah. I'm gonna watch what are you watching for. The rams are are not gonna play any of the starter correct so what your but your big ram fan yep like. I said i watch most of the charger game last night. Actually the chargers looked okay. They lost but they played a lot of backups so the rams are gonna play nothing but back right. What are you watching four. What are you interested in well number. One is <hes> darryl henderson the running back out of memphis who's going to get <hes> reps tomorrow night and who i think because gonna figure into the offense this year in a little background on him. He averaged almost seven yards of touch right at memphis and he's the person i've heard him. Most compared to is darren sprains. He's a very fast third down back who can both run and catch yeah so i wanna see what he looks like because i think with the rams a ah given how todd girlies knee is sort of a question mark. I like malcolm brown. A lot and i want to see what darrell henderson's got in the secondary. I'm looking for taylor rap wrap. Who i think is gonna play tomorrow night. Taylor app is a safety who is gonna be eric. Wells backed up and it's going to see i think significant time this year so i wanna see taylor rap out of washington and then i wanna see actually i'm kind of curious. See blake bortles yeah. I wonder how much he's going to play but that is an upgrade jeered garbage upgrade. Your golf for a young guy has not missed much time once he was given that starting job. I don't think he's mr mr start yet and the amount of time sean manion played as goths backup or very limited but blake bortles is a series blake bortles a former top five picking the n._f._l. Ralph experience right and so i think by the way who's the third string quarterback brandon allen so he's gonna play tonight yeah tomorrow night but i'm expecting to see bortles last year. Manion played a lot it preseason and <music>. I'm expecting to see bortles so bortles henderson. Who is the texas am receiver lesser. Josh miranda reynolds he could play you know a lot of people think that josh josh reynolds is is going to be an impact either share. They've got really four receivers to go to they've got robber woods and obviously brandin cooks and cooper cup and josh reynolds is going to be a guy who figures into the offense.

What envoy's downfall tells us about UK-US relations

"We're looking at the crisis. In Anglo American relations following the resignation of Britain's ambassador to Washington Kim Derek who'd been denounced by the the American President Donald Trump as a pompous fool amongst other things joining me on the line from Washington D._C.. Is Our U._S.. National Editor Edward Loose and here in the studio is Jeff Dyer who was Washington correspondent for many years ed first of all. I was just reading an article which would say this is a low point in U._S. U._k.. Relations one of the lowest ready in the postwar period. We're in the midst of the events but do you think that sounds like a feathered. Yeah I mean I wouldn't put it on this guy that suicide nineteen fifty six and of course one or as Johnson comes prime minister seeming he does become prime minister will at least band sort of temporary revival of warm legs between from Britain's prime minister because he's a backer of jokes has been openly scathing Theresa May yes. It's unprecedented to have a president chase a British ambassador out of town like this. It's caused the shots here and I think the fact that the rest of Washington other than the president and some of the henchman around and is shocked you know as everybody else shows there is probably still quite a deep underlying strength of a bias there and we'll to feeding towards Britain yeah just give us a sense of that that unto recap for those who haven't followed. The story what happened was that succumbs diplomatic cables private diplomatic cables were leaked. They said some fanny unflattering things about the trump administration but then the president went ballistic when you say there is <hes> shock in Washington. There is a census there the president trump has overstepped him up because he oversteps all day doesn't he he does I think most people in Washington have been entertained the British residence many times that a web because they see who else is there at the parties and receptions and so forth but the the trump administration senior officials including jared Ivanka John Bolton during the station's defending off at enforce as well and that the idea that for that can dr is some kind of each state anti-trump A._M.. He's not being a neutral diplomat is seen as complete nonsense and have been sort of multi by most people in Washington so I think there's a great deal of sympathy bath. They know that Matt Trump many times when trump tweets out but he's never have a matching that that's false. I think they feel it's a different scale when it's done to a close allies when trump is knifing domestic plan. There's there's a sort of level of embarrassed but in a way quite reassuring well just but of course it comes at a time mm-hmm of great uncertainty British politics and some might think that the Khuda grass for Kim Derek came when in a leadership debate Boris Johnson who's likely to be the next prime minister quite noticeably refused to back him exactly I think rather than a crisis anglo-american relationship this demonstrates that just had diminished politics in both of our countries are at the moment I mean the overwhelming impression of this is the crushing smallness of Donald Trump as president. Here's the man who's the most powerful politician in the world old and chargers powerful military in the world these unable to see his office except through the prism of personal slights and through his bruised ego the revelations in these leaked cables was Kim dire talking about the insecurity of the trump administration and there's no greater demonstration. Demonstration that insecurity in the way the president this week but also British poltics comes out of this episode look incredibly small and diminished and Boris Johnson's behavioral that debate was the biggest example of that where by not defending the British ambassador who did nothing other than what his job is supposed to do. He has let himself and let the country be pushed around be bullied and have its foreign policy shaped by another country striking example of just how or strengthen brexit ears think this is about standing up for Britain taking control how the force of events events is actually giving his ever less control over what is trying to do and in a sense. This is not an isolated incident. It's particularly shocking because it's the United States but in past year and a bit you've had the Russians murdering people on the streets of Britain. You've had the Chinese he's telling the British to get back in their box Hong Kong and over hallway. You have very poor relations with the E._U.. Because of Brexit it does feel as if somehow the rest of the world is sensing that now's the time you can push Britain around that is the impression that ah that's a a very bad situation for post brexit. The new governor Boris Johnson if he does manage to leave the Tober thirty-first as first thing he wants to do is to revive the anglo-american relationship provide the special relationship of the call it and push for a very strong free trade deal between the U._K.. And the U._S. but the dynamic we've seen here is that actually the use is quite happy. President trump is quite happy to slap burden around. He has no particular attachment to any of these old relationships these old alliances and Britain enters. There's into these negotiations and a very very weak position where it's desperate to have a free trade deal with America and we have a very protectionist America first president who's very keen to drive the hardest possible bargain they can and to squeeze and is that that's exactly what you expect will occur if when these much-vaunted trade talks start gather Liam Fox the Brits Trade Secretary was actually in Washington this week yes and came you know decided not to accompany already Ma'am this invited to a steak dinner for the America. Her and getting accompanied them folks to see if I could trump the president's daughter this new columnist or even I'm serious. I'm not that I know who thinks that a trade deal between the U._K.. And the U._S. is a practical aspect of the next couple of years the the MOMS that the trump administration would happen the these are being fairly well fleshed out already would just be politically unpalatable any British prime minister whoever that may be would be unsuitable to the British and that is even presupposing it could to get through Congress. If there's no deal brexit on October thirty first and Democrats kind of representatives would lock any trade deal that resulted from it on the grounds that it would wreck the Irish Good Friday Agreement and you've got a lot of prominent Irish Americans in Congress Shooting Ritchie Neil Chairman of the ways and Means Committee which is the key one for trade deal who said if Good Friday goes up there will be no trade deal so the prospects by medically and economically for U._S. U._K.. tracheal of very very snip and just reverting briefly to this question of the behavior of ambassadors. It's quite striking isn't that actually a lot of Mr. Trump's ambassadors have been much more openly in violation of normal diplomatic norms than Kim dark it was the ambassador in in Germany has more or less openly quartered far-right forces in Europe. Yeah I mean that's the great irony of this woody Johnson in London Rick Grenell Gordon Something Brussels. These people have been agitating against the host governments with the one great exception. If David Cone Beam in Hungary it was blatantly over the pro or back Kim different actually breach any rules these lose that were breached with to leak confidential classified cables to the Daily Mail what he said in those cables with pretty mild in comparison to what American ambassadors didn't cables whatever the well about their government when the wikileaks Chelsea Manning dump my cut several years ago so Kim down actually. Actually hasn't broken any rules or even at anything particularly strong in confidence as you say. There's a great irony and Jeff. I mean presumably we can take on trust the idea that it's going to be slow going on a U._S. U._K.. Trade deal but Boris Johnson and will seek to align himself much more closely with trump administration what areas might he do that in China's and obvious one the trump administration is trying to push much more aggressive posture against China particularly technology so that's one in particular area but I mean ultimately if bortles not become prime minister will all come down to the first few months and whether he can get some sort of breaks deal everything is going to be focused around these first few weeks or months and the brexit negotiations. I think a lot of stuff will be secondary and so the question Asian is can he somehow go to Brussels and come back with some sort of compromise not withdrawal agreement but maybe in the political declaration that attached to the Dole agreement that he can sell as a compromise from Brussels and push a deal through parliament so so while he will make some gestures and some areas I think towards the U._S.. Really everything will be dominated around the the brexit deal and how he tries to push through parliament and ED. I mean this pops to begin to wind up in striking isn't it however the trump administration in some senses has made itself player in the brexit talks trump's stream of abusive tweets included criticism of Theresa May for not delivering Brexit ignoring trump's advice on how to handle the negotiations and one gets the sense is that the trump administration would see quite relish kind of violent rupture between the U._k. and the E._U.. I think that's absolutely right. It's not just trump you see e you as a geopolitical rival as before is John Bolton John Bolton Overseas Germany is the e U and he's being very openly scathing about Germany so it's across the trump administration might compare sectors stay gave a really sort of markedly anti e._U.. Speech in Brussels late last year. There is an undisguised as to see the E._U.. break-up fail for many reasons both and has his own reasons to do with week international organizations and spend much on defense trump thinks that this sort of towel to rip the Pulse America in terms of trade and of course all kinds of people around him who are strong ideological supporters of the likes of Dick to Obam Montana Salvini and Nigel for <hes> so I think this is over time into the trump administration hates the E._U.. And last point than you mentioned Nigel Garage Alec Task Both of you were speculating but it will now as as matter a great deal who Britain appoints as the next ambassador to Washington will it be a standard issue diplomat or will Boris Johnson insist on putting in a political appointee who can suck up to the trump administration more effectively. Somebody like Nigel Ferraz de think it's possible that figure like for our Gopher Jeff I mean publicly Boris Johnson campaign have ruled out some unlike garage but you can can imagine them having conversations amongst themselves whereby the Conservative Party actually faces a very very strong threat from the brakes of Party ferocious party which is essentially a one man band all revolves around the personality and character of Nigel Farage as you can imagine some of his advisers may be tossing around the idea of what we sent him to Washington that actually just spikes the bricks at party that really leaves the way open for Boris Johnson government to dominate the right of British politics but having said that if you weren't actually that he would really because so much ill will among civil service amongst the bureaucracy amongst other people in the Conservative Party. He'll be seemed to be selling out in such a way to more far-right position that I don't think even he would go that far ED. What's your view and I think that's probably right Farraj of course for the same reason I would be to send for charities from my statistical getting rid of her rival point of view Farraj will be dumb to accept it but Farraj loves being in this town? He loves frequenting the trump international. He loves himself.

"Now, a member of the Los Angeles. Rams he signs a one year deal to back up Jared Goff. And I love it because Sean Manion was not going to be able to get them through any stretch of games. He looked terrible in the time that he got to play with the regular. She looked terrible in the preseason. Just nothing about that McVeigh offense, which is crisp and sharpen fast-moving looked crisp sharp and fast moving with Sean Manion at the help. I understand that Blake Bortles in the five years. He was the store starter at Jacksonville was not great. But he was the starter in an NFL locker room for five years value in that knows a lot of value nets. You got a guy that you could plug in. If anything ever happens a Jared Goff in interesting thing about this. And and you look at Blake Bortles when he came out in the draft. He was the third overall pick. He worked out with Jordan Palmer, Jordan Palmer, certainly, you know, boosted his draft stock for whatever it's worth in. God's people really interested in him. He also is. Represented by the toll on her family down in in Orange County who also represents Jared Goff Carson Wentz. So it's like it's a perfect situation. Because they know what the Rams are about Ted Tolan is coached him up before, you know, they kind of know Sean McVeigh, so it's like a perfect situation. And I'm almost certain at that Gerry Goffin is is is worked out with him in the past. And so they kind of know each other. It's a real simple offense to pick up is not that hard in the beat a backup on a team that you're not expecting to do a whole lot. You can sit tight and be fresh in. When your time comes in a preseason. You take all four preseason games. And if anything was ever happen. You would be ready. They try to shine man. He didn't the he didn't do enough bad things. Look. He didn't do enough bad things to get cut last year. But it certainly he did enough for them to have an eye on another quarterback that would become available as somewhat of an upgrade in what they did in. Blake Bortles by saying, okay, he's an restricted free agent. Let him hit the free agent market. Blake Bortles just became available. He reminds reminds us a lot of Jared Goff big kind of you know, he's a little more athletic. I think than golf, but he's big. He's tall. He could see department will. And if he plays a few games, and he does well, and he's got good film based on Sean McVeigh, then he'll probably be the rate as quarterback in the future. So if he does do if for whatever the report is maybe he just kills it in the preseason. Which is I guess there's some value in that. But you'd never gonna look at the not only gonna look at who they play against. But they're gonna look at what what they're doing. Yeah. And let's say Jared Goff doesn't get a catastrophic injury where he's down for the season, but gets a concussion, for instance. And he misses a couple of games and he's in the concussion protocol. And you gotta get through. A relatively short period of time. Blake Bortles is about at best you could hope for in a backup situation that Nick foles is a great example of that. He goes in wins the suit, but you have a guy that can come in that has experienced that knows how to run a Hoddle that knows how to play NFL football. And if Blake Bortles does what you're saying key. And all of a sudden has some success and goes to the raiders or whoever else gets a multi-year deal for quarterback money. There's going to be a line outside the Rams facility of other quarterbacks that have not performed the level that they've been expected to because now sudden Sean McVay did it with Jared Goff. He did it with Blake Bortles that he's the quarterback, and you come here and you back up for a year or two and you hit a home run. And now you get to go make real money again. It's just a huge win for the Rams if this works out not just in the short term..

"Just because it doesn't basically vibe with anything. He's done. Previously felt like again they're paying for past performance. Not future performance Elliott. Maybe you know that. But you know, here is a guy who let's face it. He didn't get far into games that foreign games last season. Basically he was a six inning pitcher. He only went into the seventh inning ten times last year, the eighth inning only four times. There wasn't a lot of pitching beyond the sixth inning. And that's the new reality. We saw that last year. My my question is, you You know? know? Is he a guy that we can even look at to get through six innings at this point like how much more is this going to affect him when will worrying about him playing catch basically in spring training? Like, how the hell is he gonna pitch innings? So I think all valid concerns and stuff that will see luckily for the dodgers the one aspect where I feel like they have a ton of depth, and they have depth across the board is the rotation. They've got plenty of guys that they can of plug in there. And they certainly have done a good job of that even with the injuries that Kershaw has faced over the last couple of years, especially if bueller pitches. Well here the next day or so I'll feel a lot more comfortable about it kind of moving forward. And luckily, the division has also come back a little bit. It's not as strong as it. Once was Colorado's probably the one team that you have to worry about. All right. Let's move onto the Rams. The Rams have signed. Blake Bortles U2. current you played in the NFL our NFL expert for ESPN ESPN. The magazine Kirk will defer to you on this one. To start. What do you make of Blake Bortles signing with the Rams, I've always been a Blake Bortles fan? And I know that he was in Jacksonville and didn't have to me. He was thrown into a situation that they didn't get good until last year and he got the team friendly contract. And I've said it before that team. The worst thing that could have ever happened to the Jacksonville Jaguars was going to the playoffs in a year that Blake Bortles actually play decent actually played good that being said this past season was just a team that not only lost its swagger. They became the hunted. And I think that Blake Bortles in the big gains that we watched he wasn't the Blake boards that we wanted him to be I say that because anytime that you can take a proven winner a guy who started an AFC champion to think about how crazy had they won against the patriots and been in a Super Bowl a couple years ago. You know what I mean? Against miles. Jack, man, he got he got he was dim. He wasn't that could be your backup core. But will that will be your backup quarterback? Tell me where you can bring in a guy who's already thrown four hundred three touchdown seventy five interceptions. But you give him a situation in which, hey, if anything happens to jeer golf to me, I'm not saying our season is over. I'm not saying like I'm saying we still got a shot if Jared Goff goes I remember he's the backup. He's the -mergency guy. He's not he's not going out there because they want starter..

Colin Kaepernick interested in Dolphins QB opening, ready to play as he continues to train

"The Jaguars laid out big money to bring in former Super Bowl MVP, Nick foles. I'm sure John Kincaid was up next and smiling at the mention of him while subsequently they released Blake Bortles then yesterday. The dolphins traded Ryan tannehill to the titans. Not surprisingly this immediately Ray speculation that perhaps the dolphins could bring in Colin Kaepernick as their next quarterback. The flames were fanned even more after Catholics camp told her own Jason lockenfora that cap is interested in filling the dolphins need, and he's been training and is ready to go. The dolphins options are pretty limited aside from trading up and

"Blake Bortles was released by the Jaguars released. Not traded just dropped over sixteen million dead money counted against his team, and they still drop them. Now. Let's go back five years to the two thousand fourteen draft. Where was Bortles picked first round number three at the time. What did they say fantastic size NFL body type franchise caliber quarterback Mel kiper gave the Jaguars overall a for their draft that year and a Bleacher report was more cautious. They wrote Bortles is not nearly as ready to step in and play from day one as teddy Bridgewater is and he may not have the. Upside that Johnny Manziel does a him. Both Bridgewater and Manziel are currently looking for jobs Bridgewater, perhaps his third team Menzel just to job period. And now, so as Bortles all this proves is that there was no such thing as a guarantee in drafting a player and all the pre-draft type is just a lot of hot air designed to keep TV show sports, talk radio and scouting websites in clover year, round Bortles is exhibit a improving you don't know an NFL quarterback until he becomes an NFL quarterback five years ago is team used a top three pick five years later. He's cutting costing them

"I mentioned it before it does Johnson. But it it sort of got lost in the shovel. How completely off the rails and ugly this Jaguar season loss that they couldn't win at home against Josh Gruden in. This is the best three weeks of management has life washing. What's happened to Doug Marrone here? Marrone gets rid of Nathaniel Hackett and Blake Bortles on the same day. So he doesn't know who's really causing the offense of problems and people think like I mentioned this and it's gotten so much. Worse. They have the it's the worst three-game offense of stretch in Jaguars history. According according to yards, and there's a lot of fake frame that change not like it really matters a long run. But it kinda does because it's making Doug Marrone, look bad, and he's probably gonna lose his job, partly because of that all these other teams are switching coordinators quarterbacks. And they get a little jump in. The Jaguars went from like a d to Neff minus well and they code accounts for twenty net yards passing. I mean, how often does that happen in an NFL game? And just in case, you are not wear of who management is New York. Daily news this to a single handedly destroyed and submarine Maroons chances of getting a job with the jets after he left the bills, and then as you're like can maintain an aggressive tyrod with them on social media suspiciously, aggressive one sided rivalry. Basically dancing on his grave, and unfortunately because this Jaguars was kind of fun to watch last year. I think they're just gonna blow it all. But don't you think I wrote about this in my mailbag that will come out tomorrow? Don't you think the dolphins someone asked this question a good question? Actually, what would you rather? Have. Would you rather have a total washout awful draft pick like a Menzel or Ryan leaf or have a guy like a Blake Bortles where he's not as sue preemies terrible and disastrous as those type of draft bus. But kinda keeps your hold your your franchise hostage for few extra years worse scenario. I would wanna be out of either one of those scenarios as quickly as possible. Bigger bust. You're going to say Ryan's because there's an argument that Turnhill look at him at that level. But you know, he they have been on the fence with them. Now for years. Are we sure Adam gates comes back to the dolphins? Well, let me this finish his point. So what I was thinking was aren't the Jaguars the type of team because I wrote you you definitely don't want to have the total bust guy because everyone gets fired. It's an embarrassing setback for the franchise, and he basically punt to three years from your existence because you have to start over with the Jaguars. They're they've had a deal with Blake Bortles. But he hasn't been so uncompetitive that they haven't been able to build a contender for the last couple years if they go out and bring in a better quarterback. I could see this team being in the in the mic next year..

New study suggests late-night tweets hurt NBA players' performance

"Now. This one is interesting. So this is from Alex Kennedy NBA at Alex Kennedy NBA, researchers tracked the tweets of one hundred twelve NBA players including LeBron James and Kevin Durant from two thousand nine to two thousand sixteen when players tweeted late the night before a game. They're points per game rebounds per game and field goal percentage. Drop the next day who that is awesome. So base. If you tweet late at night, you suck at your job the next day, and the fact that someone went through all this. That's the worst job ever. Yeah. Would I'd like to see is whether or not it makes a difference. If somebody's tweeting late at night, or if somebody's fading tweets like if you know the person. If you know the persons up late in their liking tweets is at the same effect because I feel like if you're up late tweeting, and you're getting that engagement going you get in the endorphins pumping. That's probably better if you're tween the if you're just sitting there passively like acting like you're not awake and silently, just liking people's tweets. Right. And this is also this one of those things where someone spend a lot of time researching at just so that there was one article on like USA today. Sports that someone clicked on once. Yeah. Well, it's like, okay.

"The Jaguars looked like an up and comer as recently as the first of all Tober. But now as being reported the Jags done with Blake Bortles, and it was impossible to not notice several Jaguars, including king knucklehead. Jalen ramsey. Yep. Dancing. Simple mindedly well being humiliated Tony fell for Jacksonville nonsense after they beat the patriots since September. But if foreign nine and Bortles on the way out Frank what's the Jaguars future? Now doesn't look great. And I bought in his well, if you go back to last season that road when they had a Pittsburgh so close to making the Super Bowl and Boorda's will be gone in Rapoport is reporting that but to me this about their defense and they walk around like they're the eighty five bears. Get that play less to me. That was her entire season. Derrick Henry former Heisman Trophy when you know, two nights before the Heisman is going to be given out. He was doing the Heisman. Pose all the way down view on their embarrassing, Frank. I'm totally with you. I mean, it was like it was something personal. He was literally running for his life and just shoving guy to the ground who want to be embarrassed. And then continue on with the game. They're mugging four camera. Once again once again the Jaguars play more stupidly than any team in the league. And yet they strut. It's unbelievable. But think about this for second Frank. They will have made first round quarterbacks elections is eleven and I think fourteen so or fifteen so they I mean, they have just wasted this. They're starting all over Tom Coughlin's on the hook for some of this stuff. That's happened on his watch more recently the last couple of years Frank they ought to be embarrassed. And I don't think there's smart enough to be. I'm talking about the players now, and you know what Tom Coughlin Doug Marrone. They got a lot of credit last year getting very close to make you. Yeah. They gotta take a bit of a hit. You know, you mentioned Blake Bortles think about this. My he has seventy five interceptions since two thousand fourteen Aaron Rodgers has seventy nine in fourteen years in the NFL portal's got them a win on the road in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, they need to upgrade at that position. They did starting with Jalen Ramsey. Who is a very good player, but way too much talking not performing and certainly not enough tackling yesterday out get him out Bortles and Gabbard ban. Elections defense overrated get them all out not the eighty five bears.

"Jags drafted Bortles at number three over. Overall. He's been the starter for a little bit now. But I think this is ending that either of them. No, I don't think. So. And it is so frustrating. That's probably the best word to describe it. Because you see, you know, at times, Blake Bortles looks phenomenal. And at times, he just looks so bad. Yeah. And then you also have to question the play calling because you know, I mean did they don't throw it more than ten yards. It's been a bad season. There are lots of problems with that roster lots of things, but anytime you have expectations, and let's just say it's been a long it's been a long time since week two against the patriots for the Jags is everything was looking great and now not so much. Yeah. It's amazing. How a team can unravel and go downhill that quickly a team had had so much promise. And so many stars. "They are team stupid. They major in stupid. And so how can we placing the quarterback alone fix all of that? I don't I don't really care of Cody Kessler is bad because he's a backup quarterback. Is the starter is eight in the league's backup quarterback. Blake. Bortles isn't good. No. He's the overall number three picking the draft. They get Mike. They gave him a fifty four million dollar extension. Which means we like, we see we like what we see. And he's I would just say he's not good. If I were them. I'd be looking at getting Joe flacco or ally Manfred getting. No line netting. Ally. Handing aligning. Schol in nitty, don't hitting alone. I house in it. And they watch the chart jazz about that. Right. He linemen who I would vote for the hall of fame, unlike Jerry Rice, and I would I may stop Joe flacco once again, do you think that the quarterback position seeing what you see fighting? Not all of how they're going to get better. They're worse on defense. They're worse on offense. There was a period of time. I thought they'd been Super Bowl this year. And they blasted Sadie. After week going three. Can't win with stupid. Let's take a break coming up. Lamar Jackson is to those starter. So should the ravens still go back to Joe? You got traded to Jacksonville and after beating down Nishigaki, Ohio State of a better case of making the playoff then old glaucoma, by the way, do you know any out for the whole? Now, I didn't any so Cincinnati. That's you can't predict it. They wanna five oh now really with the backup. They might. He was he started out. Very well. My name.

"And then I'm gonna tell people about a conversation that you, and I had last night and unsolicited conversation in which I said to you, why do people constantly disparage case keenum, I think case, Kennedy wise, a professional tell you that you, and I you and I think this is insane. Went back a year ago 'cause the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings had Neri a good word to say about a quarterback got him to the injured. The Super Bowl. So I this is another reason to hate Minnesota. If Minnesota wants Kirk cousins, I'm okay with that he better. He's keen upgrade for great face. Keenum is between ten and twenty as a starter this league. Yeah. He's a professional quarterback green. And they are a pretty good good. They're pretty good team. I could see them getting into the playoffs, but not at nine and seven no well again at nine and seven, well, we'll see you also said everybody was gonna lose a game in Cali time. And they don't let me know Alabama Clemson lose, by the way noted then may lose this week. And we'll see if they don't get the we'll say get chesty. Now two teams that don't really deserve talked about all that much. Bengals Brown's had a subplot yesterday. That deserves being talked about the Browns beat the Bengals. And it looked like a nice moment and live time would've Brown's DB. Made an interception on the sideline handed the ball to his former coach hue Jackson now bingles assistant. Hey, you go coach game ball later. We find out to Mary Randall was essentially mocking Jackson and his Baker Mayfield said after a half hearted handshake, quote left. Cleveland goes down to Cincinnati asking us to play for him. And then he goes to a different team. We played twice a year. Close quote, Tony. What do you think of the Browns players now resenting, Hugh Jackson? So I don't think you have justification to resent the fact that he took a job that was offered him in Cincinnati. He got fired in Cleveland, Cleveland said go away. So whatever he wants to do is fine after that. But in terms of Baker Mayfield, I will say this in the three games that you Jackson and Todd Haley are not involved in Baker Mayfield. Do I think it's gonna be real good has nine touchdowns and one interception. He's much better there too. In one in here is a quote from Mayfield. We have people we believe in calling plays now, and that is a shot at Jackson, and there's no way to look at it. It's okay. But I don't wanna hear this. He goes down at this show. Shut up. No, you can do players. I want to say to anybody with a microphone or opinion pet. It's a business. You guys gotta understand your business wouldn't be their coach got fire any winter place. Where point so Baker Mayfield and to Marius Rando get off the stage the wrong. There was an interesting report bar fringe Ason lockenfora CBS sports the other day that if Marvin Lewis would go somewhere else and by go somewhere else. I mean became Cleveland if you can that the Cincinnati brain trust would consider hiring. You Jackson move. They hire people. They know worked for this three thirty six along in Cleveland know, why Brown you covered the kid. What does Cincinnati due to that? Well, you know, Greg Williams the second g stands for genius. He's two in one surpri now, they wanna wanna hit your wagon to the Cleveland Browns. I just yet. Not just you. Or to this team? Jaguars continue to spin right down the bulletin. They lost in buffalo yesterday after their star running back Leonard fournette was thrown out for fighting this morning, they fired their offense coordinator in this afternoon. Current head coach Doug Marrone announce it Cody Kessler would start a quarterback instead of franchise quarterback. Blake Bortles will solve the Jaguars problem. No. You know, what this is what I'm going to say. Now, it's completely contradictory. I like Doug Marrone every public utterance wherever he's whenever you see him honest. I like Doug Miro seems honest. I think they are the dumbest team going in any sport in America. Just a big S for stupid on their heads. They do more stupid stuff every they gotta get in the fights. They gotta run their mouths, and magazines and things something stupid about it..

"But the Keita their team, and obviously they they don't have him. And they can't run the ball. They know what Blake Bortles is Ross. You know that everybody knows that. So when everybody says what's wrong with Blake Bortles? There's really nothing wrong with Blake Bortles, Blake Bortles is just being asked to do more. And he's not capable of that. But they know that. Yeah. That's a good point. I did hear that during the broadcast and that did jump out to me when they said Leonard fournette is the foundation of the key of the whole team. I thought that was really interesting that that's a really good point. What about the Jags defensively, and what you saw from the eagles offense, and maybe Greg along with that what you think golden Tate, will you? Yeah. The offense. Well, I think it also tells you how to eagles feel about their skill players because I've been talking for a number of weeks at the assumption, of course, because the eagles won the Super Bowl last year. They're a highly talented team. And obviously you can't take a Super Bowl win away from any team. But other than the quarterback who's absolutely terrific. Carson Winston is terrific. And it's interesting just just as an aside Ross how he's no longer talked about all we hear about is to show and watching ten Mahomes as if Carson Wentz at ten year veteran he's in his third season. But he's so good. But the fact is other than Zakar who's clearly a top-flight kite in really really good alshon Jeffery a very solid receiver. But beyond that, they don't get much production at all from the wide receiver position Nelson Angola has not progressed from a year ago. Clearly, that's why the trade was made. They they've told you about Nelson angle, or by the fact that they made this trade for golden Tate because I don't know what their plans are. I think Kate can at times line up outside. And I think he will when the eagles go with two tight ends. But ultimately Tate does his best work and has been most efficient in his career from the slot. So what does that tell you about what they think of Nelson Aguilar? Well, that's I thought the trade was a little curious, Greg. I thought that they really needed a speed guy or that would stretch the field. I guess part of the value. They feel like they're getting is is there value in your mind? Greg. That when they come out of the huddle, you don't know if it's going to be Aguilar in the slot or Tate in the slot. You don't know which one is going to be out wide. And so it makes them a little bit more. Unpredictable. Plus now, they got two guys for the jet. Sweep stuff the bubble screen is that there. Well, I think one of the main things is I think dogs offense. Doug Peterson offense in many ways is built on short throws and run after catch. And plus there are very very good screen king. So now what you have is golden Tate who's the strength of his game is run after catch. He's basically built like a running back and he's he's been tremendous run after catches entire career. He's outstanding in the screen game. So I think it's he fits what they wanna do authencity. They've not been getting that from Alar now. I again, none. We don't know what their plans are. But golden Tate is going to play. He's a better player than Nelson Alar. Wow. That's it'll be it'll be very interesting to see how they use them. The next reminds me of a say, what do you think a ha ha Clinton Dix? We're talking Packers. Packers defense that trade. Intrigue me for both the Redskins and the Packers. So before we get too far away from that game. What do you think ha ha Clinton Dix is a player? You know, I haven't studied him individually in great detail. So I it's hard for me to answer that from from what I've heard the feeling was is he's not quite the same player. It's an intriguing trade only because Mike Patton's defense really depends on a lot of the dime personnel..

"Traded is Eli, manning traded is Derek, Carr. Traded is Patrick. Peterson Drayton is break, Blake Bortles as traded. Now he plays well, Blake Bortles plays well at Wembley stadium. So. Jacksonville wants to move to London. So Blake Bortles might be really, really good if he's playing all of his games at Wembley metric system. Did you see those numbers mclovin that blah, Blake, Bortles I think is undefeated at Wembley stadium, you know? Yeah, that would be undefeated the team scores thirty six points per game. He said eight touchdowns one interception that's Blake Bortles at Wembley eagles. You better be ready for Blake. Bortles coming up this weekend. So they use Blake this week in London. They go to Cody Kessler next week. Yeah, but he's on a short leash shortly shortly. She was yes, polling every week. They should just help lake. He's still in London, like in Sunday, everyone wakes them up. He goes to kick ass people speaking British accent, trying to get him more London. Ask that a different breakfast. Yeah, some blood pudding here, spa Tae. Now the Royal stopped by, yes, mclovin Adam Schefter keeps imply. Lying that levian bell won't report till after the trade deadline, so he doesn't get traded. I don't understand why does he not want to trade? Doesn't want to be in Pittsburgh? Why wouldn't you wanna go the eagles for Jampel. I don't know. I get him reach out and I'm Schefter. No, I don't bel- I don't either like, why is he taking the money? I get Schefter. He's pretty. I thought that he would come in for the by week just to pick up nine hundred thousand. I still trade, you know base if he doesn't report until after next Tuesday, they can't trade homeboy. And then all of a sudden it was like, no, no, he needs me surgery and you can't trade him because of that at the time. But lady on bell male. Maybe that's the logic. You come back, you sorta play when you want to, you get paid, and then you play for somebody next year. Mclovin watches Steelers, put this oughta gather and be really, really dangerous. Well, they'll be dangerous. I don't know if they can put it all together. What if Levy on bells like well rested plays better than you better be? Well rested? "He's a lot better. No matter where he is right now is six, five, two hundred and twenty five pounds in great shape. He can play that. That's the south football. You wanna play caps, the best quarterback to have for and do I believe he can grow as passing game? Yes. Do they need some explosive weapons off season? Yes, but they need to have cap as their quarterback, their defense, their defense would improve. If you want to try to galvanize this team, do something like that. You had a chance to get teddy Bridgewater didn't even try. Let him go off to New Orleans. Like as if they need a quarterback, see they, it's not only that they doubled down on their decision. Blake Bortles they don't want a competent backup quarterback because they don't want people clamoring for the back who's their backer Cody Kennedy kaslo you know. So he was so good. Cleveland couldn't name use him. He was so good. He could barely starting college at USC. He played completed his first pacifist. Korea. I never completed pass in this league. Like that's why certain teams have a backup quarterback. So they're in the best position when if their quarterback gets hurt and certain teams have backup quarterback that they can call a project, but is really just someone who is so unknown or bad that no one's gonna call for the backup, no matter how poorly the starter plays. You mention cat, listen, I know cap is not talking publicly about the collusion suit. You and I got to sit down talk anyone talk about it even in that setting, and I'm no lawyer. But if I were, I think I might just present some game tape from yesterday and set it at the judge's desk exhibit a. Cody Cutler exhibit CJ, Beathard exhibit, see Derek understanding that bonus. Brock Osweiler guy who is credit played while yesterday down in Miami, that's that is an eighth of the league yesterday that would play in quarterbacks that going into a game, you know, should not be starting in this league, but let's see. And I have some added Intel on this, not from discussions with Colin Kaepernick. From discussions with people that know the owner of the Jaguars and shod con was okay with this wasn't an example of the owner vetoing it. This was an example of Tom Coughlin deciding winning football games is not the most important thing to me. No. And he had he made the decision. He was either live or die in the cat concept of coming to Jacksonville die with Tom Coughlin. Because when you look at, don't look to you coach to been his problem. Don't look at Blake Bortles because he can only be who you are. It's Tom coffins fall. So when you looked someone to point to Tom Coughlin is the reason why Colin Kaepernick did not sign with the Jacksonville and that the reason that c brings up cap in relation to this is not just because they have a terrible quarterback who got benched, but it's not there other teams, you might say, San Francisco, like they lost Jimmy g. there's other spots, right? But this is the one spot. There was forward momentum that it was everyone had given it the okay last year. And then Tom Coughlin veto style wise cap fits with this Jaguars offense all look at his numbers. If you want to be a dominant defense running team, that's with Harbaugh did in going to NFC championship twice by going to Super Bowl, only losing to Ray Lewis in the Baltimore Ravens on the fade Patty. Torn- that him and Crabtree could not connect on. So yes, his worst days are Blake Bortles career days. That's Colin Kaepernick was as a quarterback in this league. Let's not forget this. So their politics have gotten away of their football. That's why right now they have in the mutiny. That's why they add each other's neck. Yeah, they got problems in Jacksonville and ain't get no better because they go into London, which is the only place to people are cheering for Blake Bortles who helped the team win yesterday, Eric redid, Eric, read almost had the game winning pick. I know he had some stuff before the game and after the game, the bothered some people. But on the field yesterday, Eric was a positive for Carolina. They probably don't win that game without him. They're actually trying to win them in their owners team present. They're trying to go to the Super Bowl, highlights funeral, British accent next week, sided for that. Thank you, Jennifer..

"I'm gonna take the pass on the close ballgame. I do think Jalen random would do a very good job on rob gronkowski, but I don't trust Blake Bortles and do Blake Bortles against the patriots, the patriots defense, the defense that I saw like this. They couldn't be any worse than what they were. The last time we saw in a meaningful ball game, which is the Super Bowl give it up over four hundred yards. Forty one points, but Blake Bortles didn't do a whole lot. He didn't do much better than Eli did. It was the pig. Fix that with the difference in the ball game and the patriots defense, what they were able to do, not just one game, what they were able to open against the Houston, Texas. They got after my had seen a patriots rush to quarterback like this. Haven't seen them flowers. They always mentally sound. You're not going to catch them out of position too often, but the way they were flying around to the football, the way they were putting pressure on on the Shawn Watson, don't trust. Blake Bortles. So given that the defensive Jags gives Tom Brady, okay, maybe that'll push but the patriots defense against Blake Bortles. I favor the patriots, the patriots fits. So I'm gonna go. I'm gonna say twenty. Twenty thirteen twenty thirteen. So they cover towards by. Yeah. He's older favored so the by, right. Okay. So did you see what just happened across the table? Shannon Sharpe has learned his lesson about betting against Tom Brady. That's what that boiled down to seen. The light in the light emanates from Foxborough, Massachusetts, because that's the only number twelve in the National Football League. That's the number that is the Michael Jordan of the National Football League. Aaron Rodgers LeBron James, I give you that he's three and six in the final. So that's kind of what Aaron is because he's five and six in the postseason since his one and only Super Bowl. So they're on par. So never law never lost. He's never lost. Super always played in one grand total of one. It was like ten years ago. So rob Parker, I ask you, will you please give me thirteen points and the patriots for dinner? No, no diet. Do not point you to send you said they're gonna win by fourteen so do not deserve thirteen thirteen point for dinner. Thank you. Thank you very much. No, no, no. I'm stick by if I believe it. I think Tom Brady he's about to have one of those clunkers just could be it against this team vets. He hasn't once in a while shed into Rob's point. They are in shambles. They were starting last week, some white guy running back Rex Burkhead who starts starts a white guy at running back. I know there's that kit in Carolina that you've played, but but that's that's not just some white kid that kid. That started ones that vintage out that work. Onto well. So it's Rex Burkhead who's now in concussion protocol because Jeremy hill the one, a running back towards ACL in week one. He's gone into Rob's point. They're so desperate receiver they went and signed Corey Coleman on Monday who got dumped by the Browns and cut by the bills who lost forty, seven to three on opening day after they didn't sign it. Why receiver? Dez Bryant, right. Okay. But then Vinnie foul who's Benny Fowler. Bronco tonight when the Super Bowl that was the Maffei Michigan state not good. He's good actually, but my point is, are those two guys gonna pick up the intricate patriot offense by Sunday?.

"So the giants, oh line had their issues the other night. And I thought that the lions running backs weren't able to get going like they were able to earlier. The the Blake Bortles played poorly, don't get too carried away with that. I mean, remember what situation they were in last year where they benched him. He almost had him in the Super Bowl, Vikings, oh line took a definite setback against Jags d line, which is pretty darn good. The Rams and still haven't played their starters at all in the preseason. And how about some of their players getting booed as they took the field at home by the raiders fan. So, yeah, I guess not a lot bribe, but those are some of the things that jumped out to me. All right. Let's get to the injury news pretty busy weekend patriots. First round. Pick a win out for the season after tearing his achilles as chargers safety Jaylen Watkins. Both those guys done done for the year. That's always a bummer. Win with a torn achilles. Those are tough to come back from it. I, I mean, just think about it. He was playing right tackle. I guess the good news for the patriots is there was a decent chance to win, wasn't going to start. It was gonna be the same starters as last year, except the big man. Trent Brown at left tackle candidate right tackle and then stick with the same interior three tests. The good news, the bad news is they only lose their depth and he might have ended up starting somewhere and for the chargers there are as many safeties available right now. They'll get to more on that in a little bit their owners,.

"And again i think it's really really difficult to quantify offensive line plate washer the naked eye told me that was a pretty solid offensive line i didn't look at one that was deficient and in the postseason when they of course beat the buffalo bills but really the two games that mattered that people were most impressed by where the smothering of the steelers at least offensively when they do not allow the team that lead the nfl acts in pittsburgh to sack blake bortles and then they ran all over the patriots in the championship game early like i saw pretty dominant offensive line was surprised by the injured neural deal and they have also they committed themselves to blake bortles in in for at least one more year bill but really if you look at the contract like i think you're probably committing and the way they've addressed a quarterback this off season like probably two more years of blake bortles and i think maybe your feelings on the office and is somewhat defined by how you feel about like bortles as a player right i think that's fair because i think it's not like evaluating josh allen where we don't josh allen is yet necessarily maybe we don't know blake bortles maybe those those last two games he looked pretty good against the steelers and the patriots mean more than that game against the bills where he looked hopeless i might say he looked really bad from that game against the bills at the very least you can say he's inconsistent even this was a good season from overall are better safe than he had in two thousand sixteen he was still inconsistent in two thousand seventeen from month to month and i think it's going to help if they can run the ball better than they did a year ago and i think obviously when they ran the ball effectively in those games did make bortles look better by all means but i'm not even that concerned about normal i think it's maybe an overpay but it's still a good player i think it's fair to say engineer was going to be a good car but you're meaning like bortles when you did not really have to when they could if i believe stuck with the franchise tag and gun year to year and.

"And my thought process what that means to me is that we know your physical we know on offense you want to run the ball and set up your play action for your quarterback were to take that run away so we don't have to have undisciplined eyes in play action and if we can make you wanted to mention all were to put her on blake bortles and say blake bortles can you beat us and you know you go back to last week mike last week is tennessee tights the new england patriots wind up they mugged both their lot inside linebackers meaning they walk their inside linebackers up in in located lim head up over like their guards are over a a garden attack and there's two things they did with that one was they put everybody across the board in man so that means all five offense alignment basically if you have a slide protection a you have something you want to accomplish you gotta go up front you'll mingle mingle mingo it's all man stretched across bore were man because we all have walkup guys we all essential have somebody lined up and then one linebacker would take a drop the majority of time the other linebacker would stay right there online scrimmage and spy mariana in basically what they were doing was like we're gonna keep you in the pocket were not gonna let you scramble around and pick up first downs in third.
