Remembering John Prine
"For more than fifty years ago John wrote songs that were sad and funny and overall just human songs about regular work in life songs about quiet ordinary days rolling by the songs that were incredibly profound he wrote songs you could grab your guitar and sing along with songs about simple honest truths songs you could use a sort of a road map to life songs that use the language that you spoke with your friends at the bar and songs that you could spend three or four weeks parsing and trying to figure out John died on Tuesday at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville he died from complications of COPD nineteen he was seventy three years old that road map to live John sang about so often he was singing to one person in particular take a listen to this I want to say this is when whenever I've read naming this sounds like advice S. as in I'm talking to myself and you know I was trying to convince myself for that at the time that time don't get wrapped up in your anger you know because people don't realize it but there you can be your own best friend your own best your own worst enemy yeah it's hard to say if you don't know yourself for for some reason you're the hardest person to get up for your case you know it's it's how it's difficult to forgive yourself but within three years of these that's kind of where I was staying there and it works for me is that I'm say this John Prine and Mariposa folk festival in a really Ontario over his seventy three years John's songwriting genius caught the attention of pretty much the biggest names in music Bob Dylan called him a midwestern mind trips to the nth degree who writes beautiful songs Kris Kristofferson hated him after he discovered him because his songs were so good and so easy Bonnie Raitt famously did a cover of his song angel from Montgomery which launched her career John this paper trail for tons of younger folk and country singers people like Jason Isbell and Margo price and Kacey Musgrave if you ever saw John do a live show he tell these hilarious stories and then sing the most devastating songs which is the combination that you really need in twenty eighteen John released his album tree of forgiveness at that time it was first new record in thirteen years and now well I guess it's in honor of John Prine I want to revisit this really special interview I did with him around the time that album came out I got to talk about a line of his that I repeat myself at least once a week even now as we go through this whole thing here's my conversation with the late John Prine when I get to heaven MACA guides in thank you for more blessings than one man can stand then I'm gonna get a guitar and started writing little band check in do swell down any day after live grand and then I'm going to give it back and is that this is there is god is my witness the judge John you can you

Food For Thought: The Julia Child Episode
"Yes I taught English in history in Vista California for twenty two years damn near killed me but this young woman here Emily Myers. He came down here with me. Was My student fifteen years ago and I was a big grammar teacher because I went to Catholic school right. So we're doing this grammar exercising. It said Julia Child Comma the French Chef Comma and whatever else to sentence said and so I said to the students this is what two thousand four ish and I said so Julia. You all know who Julia. Child is the seventh grade. I got these blank. Looks let me tell you about Julia. Child told them the whole story about who she was and the French chef and how she was fifty years old when she first started. I was forty when I was became a teacher. And so this that and the other and then I told them the story about how nineteen eighty nine. I was a stay at home. Mom I had my two kids Cayden Matthew who were six and four. No six and two and Julia child came to town to the to Warwick's books to her book signing of the the way to cook her last book that she wrote on her own and I said I have to go see her. I have to meet her. I just have to do this. In the meantime as the stay at home mom was getting bored so I started making English muffins and if local but you know the Panikin isolating the Sh- muffins to the panicking because the guy who used to own the Panikin road motorcycles with my then husband and one day he came over for what they called the Prince of Norton Prints of darkness motorcycle. Ride and Chili Cook Up. You can tell which part I was in that and and I said Hey bob you wanNA try some English Muffins. And Hey say. He had one with my homemade strawberry jam on it. And he's these are great and I said good. Do you want to buy some because I need to do something out of the home and make some money and he said so to gross a week from my little kitchen when I was living by San Diego State. It was hilarious so this is when I was still doing that so I got the babysitter for the baby. Matthew because he was too he would never have known the difference and I took Kate with me now. Kate was six and so she'd been watching with videotapes at that point Julia. Did something called the way to cook. She did a series of videotapes. Kate and I would watch them. Kate's birthday cake. Every year was the classical. Jen was with the whip cream and the strawberries on it and so I took with me because I walked in Julia. I know by the way I made her a dozen English. Muffins packed them up in a box wrote her. A letter. Dear Julia. You are the one who taught me how to cook. My mother thought she did but she didn't. You're the one who really did with your show. Julia Child and company and Julia Child and more company. I've learned everything I've known from. You saw there. She is. She walks in. Cates going. Momma and I know I know she's here so we get in the line in the line and the you know they always have the helpers with them when they're big like that I don't mean in stature I mean you know and so the lady and I said I said here's a spock's English muffins in it. I made them pro. Have this little business so she. It's my turn. She hands the box. Julia is working out. She did this. She took her. She's she. I was looking in her eyes and she was sitting down because she really was too. She's banging on the box. Oh goody goody gumdrops homemade English muffins she's really did say that it was so funny and I said yes and she's and I told her that I was making them. Well I guess profession getting paid for it so I guess that makes it a profession right and she said I'm so she got very serious. I'm so glad you're doing this. We need more cottage industry like this. She said English muffins she said to me. How do you get them to cook so that they're cooked all the way through and not burn on the outside? I'm going Julia. Child is asking me how to do this. And then I remembered her recipe didn't work. This was not her recipe. This was from a jam book called Jam. Shame or something like that and I said Yeah. That is the secret. Isn't it and I told her how I did it. And it was all about rolling it around in a bowl of corn meal and I said like you had taught me on one of your shows about cornmeal being like a ball bearing and she said I never really thought about that and she was unbelievable. I couldn't believe it. So we're in the store and she signs the book and she didn't sign much of anything. Good luck or whatever and then. Kate neier lurking around the store watching her some more and she oh and you should have seen you know how mom's right so this kid of mine is six years old. She's just standing there looking at her and Julia said some things to. I can't remember what it was but it was really cute. So okay fast forward. It's two thousand ten. I'm on what I called my odyssey because I decided being teacher. I need to take some time off during the summer. Actually do something and not stand at the Xerox Machine. Getting Ready for the next school year. Merola grammar packets. Remember those and I took off. I went on this Odyssey. I went up to Portland just to go to Powell's books because I needed more cookbooks. Right to add to that four thousand collection and so I'm coming back. It's twenty in my little. Volkswagen Cabriolet with the top down and Bonnie Raitt blasting. Having a great time end. The car dies on the side on the side of the road. I got I two tires off the road. That was it and I'm talking about on this very near. Oh I was four miles north of point arena which is two hundred and fifty miles north of San Francisco on the one and not the one. Oh one the one the one the ones the one that goes like this and you can only drive twenty five miles an hour thankfully so I've got my two tires off on the side of the road and some guy comes turns around takes his truck and pushes me the rest of the way off the road and I was a little nervous about that. Call whoever the tow truck comes. I'm taking pictures of the tow truck. Taking my car away they take me down to point arena. I was on my way to that. Lighthouse also lighthouses and now. I'm stuck there for a week because I don't know if I can say this. But what does the industry in Humboldt county growing exactly so the town of point arena about five blocks long? The entire town is stoned. Looks like you can see smoke through the whole thing so he kept my car for a week. Never fixed it. Charge me a thousand dollars. Never fixed it he he had it towed to Healdsburg where his brother fixed it for another thousand dollars. That's another story anyway. So I put it up on facebook. The picture of my car being towed and one of my friends called and he said. I love point arena. You have to meet the Jam Lady. I said okay. Well I'll meet the family so I walk a mile down the road because I don't have a car turn right and there's a sign the Jam Lady. Her real name is Lisa Joa committees. She calls herself Jam Lady. She makes jam in point arena. Sends it all over the place? I went inches a full kitchen like that. One all stainless steel really professional. That we start talking Blah Blah Blah. She Says Yeah. I used to work for Barbara Tropic. China Moon Cafe and I said Oh my God I love her. She figured she'd Cook. My dinner sometime before I was like. Oh my God. This is amazing. She says I told her the Julia Child Story. Oh I forgot to tell you part of it. She wrote me a letter. She answered my little note that I had scrawled on a little tiny legal piece of paper. She wrote me a letter. Julia Child wrote Miller. I have evidence and so I read. I wrote back to her. She wrote me again. I still owe a letter. I don't know why I never finished that. So I'm telling this story to Lisa The lady. She says wait right here. Okay what's going on here? I mean this really weird place she disappeared. Disappears upstairs comes down with a box opens the box? She has a dozen flutes. Champagne flutes. Julius ninetieth birthday party she says you need. These gave me two of them. Doesn't that amazing I just went? I'm a total stranger and you she said we're not strangers. She said you have to have these. They have to be yours and size. Okay thank you thank you. We wrapped in very carefully. They got home even through the bumpy. Healdsburg thing and so then on her hundredth birthday. And I'm not sure what I think that was. I don't remember what year it was on her hundredth birthday. I was home from school that day. I think in August I was home legally and I cooked everything just all Julia Child and I called one of my friends. I said come on over. We use the Julia Child flutes. We had a little split of champagne. We toasted her. I put it all up on facebook. It was amazing and now it's so funny. I have those glasses there in my glass cabinet. But they're hidden in the back and my son in law was here in February and he went to reach for that to put for his champagne. I said Oh no look what that says on it. He says Julia Child's ninetieth birthday. I said you don't use those. You don't appreciate that. This is Julia Child. I mean come on so that is my Julia Child Story. I Love Her love her the day that she died. My daughter was about twenty. I think she called me just limit on her own. She called me says mom have really bad news. What does this in an accident? She says Julia died today and it was as if her her grandmother had. My mother had died. You know we were so cried on the phone and you know who's better than Julia Child

"The writers organization pen for lyrics of literary excellence among the many performers who have recorded his songs are Johnny cash, Bonnie Raitt, and Bette midler, Terry gross spoke with John Bryan last year when he was on tour to promote his new album, the tree of forgiveness. His first album of new songs in more than a decade. It's actually kind of amazing that he's still performing in one thousand nine hundred sixty had major neck, surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in two thousand thirteen he was operated on, again, this time for lung cancer, but he's made a remarkable comeback both recording and touring. Let's start with a track from tree of forgiveness. This is summer's end co written with Pat McLaughlin. Brandi Carlile sings backup vocals. Iran. Binges. Swimsuits own. The land is. I mean you there. Covers. Bad moon. You who big. Where you never know. You. Entail? You've the shadows grows sees. No. See. Slough. And you. Just come on. Come on. No, you don't have to. View. John Ryan, welcome to fresh air. It is a pleasure to have you here. Is there a story behind that song? Well, the big story behind that particular sound summers in first of all, it's my favorite track from from the tree or forget this, you know, it's just came out so pretty good, buddy. Amac, Pat McGrath, and I wrote that sound, and we've been reading together, we've been friends doggedness, but we've been together since my years record in ninety one and we're just uncanny the way we write together. I mean we finish each other's sentences. Just throwing image at him. And he comes back one. And we really decide with the subject is erecting about, we just kind of go with wherever sounds good, feels good to both of us. And the fact that that sound like that's how we approached it. And it ended up as pretty as it did in his loads in and many other things was fast make because we were literally going it was like ping, we're going back and forth. The tonight. And what about the melody? The melodies just another simple. Drag Penn did melody. I'm trying to do is play freight train. I think. Yeah. That's how I think it was. Thing China fake visit has gotten and the syfy John hurt so much. So I used to put my fourteen years, I'd sit in the closet and the dark in case I ever went blind play. Well, that's strange to me. So can you do it at mid you ever have to look down at your fingers on your playing? I can't do that. Casey. Thing I've practiced in the dark. We even through a lot in the past few years. You've had neck cancer and lung cancer. Can we talk about how you were able to get back into shape to be able to perform and tour? I mean, the next surgery, severed nerves in your tongue, it, damaged salivary glands, did you have to learn to sing or speak again? I had to do some, the they gave me a speech therapist. I was tired of the therapy, just getting over the, the initial surgery the next jury that was pretty a pretty big surgery is I really big surgery, and it was a big one, and I didn't realize that had anything any slurring my speech whatsoever. But it codes something in your town, kind of made you have. I guess they become like lazy, you know, your tongue just go to one side, naturally, and you stir some your words, did some speech therapy. But I've told them when I was going in for that surgery, I had talked to the surgeon animated artist and added do radiation on my throat. Right across my vocal cords and the radiologist was explained to me. He was making shield my vocal cords. And I said, have you heard me say? I said, as, if you've made me with something I could make noise as a come up with a voice on the DEA and. The surgeon Tomi my golf swing will improve after surgery. I said, I. So at least that'd be voice to say, I think improve my boys if anything I always hard time listening thing before surgery C, you got a new voice, and you feel different about it. Yeah. Drab downloading feels friendlier to me so I can actually sit in a studio. Listen lessening played that before. I read the way that's really surprising. I think do you feel like your voice sounds more lived in than it did before. I've heard singers complained that they've been through so much and you don't hear it in their voice, you know, that they feel you don't hear that voice doesn't sound as troubled as they feel or as worn as feel or as experienced as they feel. With may Marigny recordings. Time listening back to him because I was so nervous. I was kinda thrown into an expected for Levin v recorders. I would just play music for the fun of it, and writing songs. Dude. Those kind of mine escape. You know from the humdrum of the world. And everything happens. So fast for me that became foot with organized before I knew it, and I just listening all records, I series this young extremely nervous. Make me run out of the room rather than this new what he had to say. So in addition to the next surgery, that you had for cancer, a few years later, you had lung cancer, and you had an operation on one of your lungs. So what was it like to learn how to, to be able to get enough breath to support your singing? I luckily, I have friend who is who is training, a individually trained people for either rate laws and stuff like that we we're friends, we get together and BS you know, and he, I told him I had to get the surgery he volunteered to come to our house and help me get back in shape, the you're on the road. He he had me running up and down our staircase three times. They've put a good tyrod my neck, and I think three songs taking breath, you know, and this is all after losing half on and I didn't know I could train that my wife did needed. Because I hadn't previously put that much into training before. I like that because it's Taylor to who you are and what you do as opposed to giving you in just the standard exercises. Exactly. I'm no good with that. If semi tells me to work or exercise go the other way come up with an excuse. So one more thing about the surgeries. I know you knew Roger Ebert, and he gave a boost to your career really early on before anybody. Knew he gave you a great review. And you just performing in Chicago before you'd recorded, and I don't know if you remain close, but he had cancer and he had jaw surgery that basically left him on able to speak. I was wondering if you communicated with him at all about your surgery, I think he was still he would've still been alive. He after Roger and yesterday got. Sick. I was I played show him and his wife came to. And this after my surgery is when I was at turn banned in this in years, and we got to talk a little bit. But obviously it was a social situation. You know, who's more likely looked at each other like we members of the club. But they haven't been through the surgeries. Yeah. Him even more. So he was really at the particular time that he wrote a review on me. I was man step in. I was singing this one, Negga week in the Chicago club, the fifth fag of west Armitage and Roger had walked at movie that he was supposed to review for the next day. This is Thursday night and Friday is the big the big day for the entertainment section, and shoot. I send times and Rogers reviews. He always down page, the bag fade to the entertainment section and him. Stay review in the movie, he said he walked into this pub-, the get a beer, because it was to Saudi in the movie theater, and semi Thome going back room. And listen to this kid, I was the kid and he really full page on. Singing, mailman delivers the message and I. That's great. I never had an empty seat after that. I was I was still like I say, I was still make them living as a mail, man. And I was thinking after that three nights a week. And two shows night knows Elena side and things just got better from then on this would have been about what nineteen sixty-nine, vague matching seventy okay early early. Seventy one is when I got my record contract record come out by August of seventy one. Thanks really fast. If you're just joining us, my guest, a songwriter singer and guitarist, John Prien, Louis back after a short break. This is fresh air. This is fresh air. And if you're just joining us, my guest is John Prien? I wanna play another track from your new album, the trio forgiveness and all the songs on this are co written this one was co written with Phil spector. You started the sun with him a nineteen seventy eight. I think you've finished it for the new album. So how did you and Phil spector meet up? I mean my initial reaction was wow, that doesn't seem to that seems like a really unusual musical fit. Because, you know, my first thought was, like, Phil spector girl groups around nets darling love, but then I was thinking, well, Phil spector did produce music by John Lennon later on and produced a Leonard Cohen album. So what brought you together with him? When was the premier music. Critic for the times for about thirty five years, and he was early champion my stuff. He was the guy in the west coast. That's how I kind of developed out there as quick as I did because of ever Collins, if he had to mention that JP or anything in any review, he was out. It could be a bad legs naked. Sneak my name into. Yeah. So anyway, he's the guy that introduced me to post backyard. I ran into late seventies out in Hollywood, vanity Burnett is and asked the money was up to. He said he was working on book. I'm so spectrum news up at his house every night, interviewing him and he said you to come up with me, and that's it will feel specter were no may for Madame and he said, well, he was quoting your song down. Lydia the other night. And as it really has come up there and say out, so there and it turns out, it was just around the time that he produced the very combing back in wasn't out yet..

"Seeing James Taylor live. I have not seen buying Bonnie Raitt I've seen a couple of times. She really good guitar player you'd slide guitar. Yeah. I saw tickets go on sale are on sale now. Visit seven hundred w w dot com. For more info that's coming up before the end of the show. Longtime ago, she was at river band, and Chris Isaac was warming up for Chris Isaac. Yeah. Exactly. And. So we got there earlier going to interview him backstage during body rate soundcheck. Well, we were sitting there watching her sound check. And you're not supposed to be in there. So we're kind of acting busy and like we belong there. Which of course, not. But she came out there, and we're just fiddling around and she does purple haze on a slide guitar. No way. It was unbelievable. Just a warm up. You're just warming up of their ban on you know. Hey, guys, this purple haze. One two three. And just absolutely rips it to shreds and while I'm watching that and act like I'm sweeping up the floor. Robert. And I worked together, Robin walks over and sits down onto seats, and all of a sudden, she's a stops playing goes. And I walk over to Robin gone. You probably shouldn't do that. And so we're standing there, and all of a sudden she just stopped playing us who are those to get them out of here. So that was my Bonnie Raitt story. Run by Vanni rates. Not happy. In the meantime, we were talking about dumb injuries rock yesterday. You were cutting some tree tree boom, boom fell hit my scrape it up pretty good against me didn't affect my vision. But God is it ever love and painful right now, man, you're lucky though, really very lucky very lucky a Vic and Harrison, thanks for holding buddy. Talking about dumb injuries. What are you have? Hey, I'm from Harrison, and I'm in Rockies territory. Shop for those trees. Trees, man. A good area. I like Harrison, absolutely. I read a little tree story similar to Rockies. I didn't get injured as bad, but I decided to cut a limb off my neighbor street, and I got a six foot privacy fence so strong extension. Ladder up rattled, my fence and put it against the trunk of her man, and my grandson was over. And I I actually did it kind of like a joke. I had a hard. I worked in construction. I had a hard hat. So I put my heart hat on. Safety glasses. Wear glasses. So I put my safety glasses over my regular glasses. And I get up there with a chainsaw. My wife's watching this whole fiasco. And I start cutting living down, and I started cutting it from the top. And I'm thinking this things could've start bending over and just lay down. I don't know what happened, but it just broke off. And they came down it not my hard hat off. Glass my safety glasses in my regular glasses off. And my wife's looking at me. And she says. How you stand stayed up on that laugher. And it took me. Luckily, I had a spare pair of glasses because I have to wear glasses. 'cause I it took me three days rummage around in my neighbors Bush's to find my glasses. Wow. That's what he said. He was straddling the fence. Right down down saying, he's right about this limbs one that to where were actually even super I had was way way high up limb. So I put like an old deer stands that. I have found a put a ladder up in the deer. Stand to be getting ahead of coal. Sol was using a poll saw like hacking this thing and same thing. I thought it was kind of swing and go down. It just went boom just dropped to the ground. Hey, Phil in Loveland. What are you have buddy? Eddie rocky love you, man. Thanks bye. I worked for a local HVAC company in my first job of the day was to go in the furnace out and get it out of out of the basement. So I get all the furnace off except for the motor is big s oil donors motor. Swing at it with a three thousand sludge. Grazed off the edge of it hits me square in the kneecap. Now, my New York she heard you telling me that. I'm laying on the ground. I mean, I'm on his dirty basement floor. I'm laying on the ground. Not this corner. I'm not porn out of the guy. I worked with is is laughing hysterically. The composure to get up off the ground and they're the by six. Breath retreated chill. Right. Above me. Get up boss. My head. Double the size of a grapefruit, and I got blood porn on my head. And the guy that I was working eight laps already cried. Did you go home after that? I actually worked there. Back. My. From my head. Nice. Dr. What was the three stooges? Step later day day tea in Middletown. What are you have talking dumb injuries? Well, this is pretty dumbest back when I was really young and dumb and first of all I'm over exaggerating. One hundred million degrees out. Okay. Maybe I'm a little bit. I was walking down the street with a couple of buddies of mine, we decided that we wanted to get on each other soldiers, and then just create a big giant, whatever a monster. So I was on top of the big guys soldiers, and the other guy was on top of mind, and we were walking down the street and Mayfield Ohio and lo and behold, we come across a tree, and that was all it took because the cop guy fell down, and we all just tumbled and the guy fell on me. And I woke up and the ambulance and I separated my shoulder and to this day, it's like two or three inches lower. My right side is lower than my left. So that that was pretty stupid. I just thought that was pretty good. That's gotta be up there, by the way, I shout out to James KANU emailed me a picture of his hand that ripped while dead lifting and this I showed you. Boroughs. But here's the question, James. Did you make the list? That's all that matters. Drip, your damn hand. I don't wanna hear it. Did you make the left? That's what I want to know. This is prohibited. And look. A whole chunk of his hand of his thumb off. And then another chunk of his hand that is. Like lost. Now. Alex stone. He.

"Beautiful new stage on the ground okay it's a state of the art facility they had a stage here before that only help maybe two thousand people but they came to the table and helped us build a beautiful facility that has room for nine or ten thousand people has the biggest video screens on the grounds beautiful amenities backstage for the artist and the people out front they're going to really enjoy how it looks and how it sounds and we're gonna kick it off to on friday we have a show with diplo so it's gonna be great yeah you know the this other stages all around here and i'm on people understand this i mean the marcus amphitheater has been there for a little over thirty years and that's the told about twenty three twenty four thousand people state of the art venue in those are ticketed separately because they're really really really big names but when you talk about all the other eight hundred acts and all the other stages that are going to be around there i mean you have to understand that you're walking through this festival and there's so much there's so many options from the type of music that you like the era that came from every single day we try to have as an eclectic as possible light up on the summer fest grounds speaking of all the other stages we could never do it without the sponsors of course and we have a miller stage harley davidson stage and and a briggs and stratton stage bima mo harris bank there's beautiful facilities on the ground and there's a national headliner on every stage every single night and what we try to do is have all different genres on those different stages you can come to summer fest and you may want to go see imagine dragons in the amphitheater james taylor and the empathy or journey def leppard any empathy eater but on the rest of the grounds you can see national acts you can see on any given day a country act a hip hop back a hard rock act the classic rock act and the list goes on and on i mean if you'd even look at opening day where you have imagine dragons and the throat jethro rotel at the beam mo pavilion and edm electric dance music with less so at baylor hip hop artist little who's evert on harley davidson cain brown the biggest new country guy on the us cellular stage lukas nelson willy son is a stage all american rejects and another stage so we spread it out so people can just wander around and see all different styles and music and as i said you know at twenty one dollars a free to get in every day it's the best bargain the people are gonna find musically the country it absolutely is you have so let's talk a little bit day by day that was wednesday a little bit what are some of the highlights of some of the other days of the week well i can give you i'll give you the empathy lineup down the line and then we'll talk about the other stages we open of course like i said with the magic dragons tonight wednesday night the twenty seventh and then thursday's james taylor and bonnie raitt friday yup and friday is hall z and logic great couple of great new artists it's going to be fine little country on the thirtieth with florida georgia line and bb wreksa dave matthews is on sunday the first hip hop would or closed of course on the second hip hop with j cole on july three journey def leppard july four shawn mendez on july five blake shelton and loop combs on the sixth a great act the weekend on the seventh and arcade fire on the eighth so that's just the amphitheater on the rest of the grounds you'll find bands like as i mentioned cain brown or steven tyler from aerosmith or gino monet or the flaming lips or cash or frankie beverly and maze steven tyler country he's doing a little country add this thing which is cool right we think it's going to be kind of fun so he's one of those free stages where you can come on down the list goes on and on there's all different genres from that know cheap trick to hunter hayes so little something for everybody now if you can't make it to summer fest you can still see some of the.

"Bonnie raitt okay it was weird but i liked it they did a good job and they had such good chemistry edrich chemistry maybe maybe there and love i don't know but it was interesting seeing these it's the first time i've heard michelle releasing something soft and granted dodd that software of a show perspective instead of like at a nine it was still like a five but and vocally it wasn't 'perfect but it sounded smooth it sounded melodic which i feel like is something that we've been missing from her and i felt like she had really good tone that blended well with with him really good on the chorus in particular i think honestly if she this saved her hundred percent because how could you move somebody through after that performance of because literally everybody else did well so night except for this was probably the most quote unquote train wreck performance usually in these semifinal you'll get like at least one person completely bombed and i feel i for the most part nobody really did with the exception of maybe her and so i think somebody says it later but basically maybe it was luke he says she needs to learn how to drive the ferrari aka like she has the the voice she has the capabilities she just doesn't know how to drive it you just gotta like don't over sing it and like because she has this immense amount of energy because she's sort of i mean the ferrari comparison because she keeps gunning it and other example she's like overshooting her pitch sometimes well it's like a ferrari is an amazing vehicle it's like a beautiful car it's got all these capabilities but if you don't know how to drive a stick shift a you're not going anywhere i do not.
