Coach Archie Miller not happy had no answer for the Boilermakers had no real answers defensively, and we played four on the chance. Really, To be honest with you. They can pretty much do what they wanted to do. We had no answer couldn't really get it. Pick a Plan and GET AFTER IT
"Leadership means firmness not harshness or bullying understanding not weakness justice erase the freedom humaneness not intolerance generosity not selfishness pride. Not Egotism so little quote for you kick things off. This is coming very I ran across it the other day and as I ran across it I saw some of little bit of the dichotomy leadership in there and it just caught my attention. And it's a quote General Omar Bradley General with a good amount of name recognition but a general who kind of flew under the radar sometimes because he was competing with some some big names. You know he's competing with General Patton. He's compete with General Eisenhower. He's competing with General Montgomery so he kind of flew under the radar sometimes even though he does have the Bradley fighting vehicle named after him which is a awesome machine but he absolutely was a well regarded general in his own right born in eighteen. Ninety three in Randolph County Missouri worked as a boilermaker figured out he could get a free education by going to west point so he went to West Point graduated in Nineteen fifteen same years. Eisenhower by the way he was a really good athlete. Baseball Star could've played pro ball but chose to be in. The army chose to go and do his commitment to the army. One thousand nine hundred fifteen. You're probably thinking World War. One W W well. He actually didn't go to World War One and World War One. There were mining disputes in the unions in the in the minds up in Montana and they had to activate some army units to send them up there to guard the minds. And that's what he did. He did that for a little while. And then he did go to unit that was getting ready to deploy to World War One. The Spanish flu came which everyone seems to know about the Spanish flu. Now and there then there was the armistice and he didn't deploy so he didn't get any combat action in World War. One thought that that might hurt his career but he stayed in anyways ended up teaching tactics at the infantry school fast forward through the peace years may general in one thousand nine hundred forty two assigned the eighty second division the Twenty Eighth National Guard division eventually worked under General Patton as the deputy in charge of Second Corps and then took it over himself led the campaigns in Tunisia and Sicily. Ike Eisenhower selected Bradley to command the First Army during Operation Overlord D Day Command. He commanded the most troops of any general. Us General in history when he took command of the twelfth on weaker. One point three million troops to little decentralized command. Better come into play right there. Continue with all those troops to push through Europe until the fall Germany. We covered Ernie. Pyle on this podcast. Podcast number thirty nine. His book brave men. It was the heavies for my favor. Lines Ernie pyle nicknamed him the G. I. General because he was kind of a laid back down to Earth Guy didn't make a spectacle of himself. After the war he ran the VA for a while. The Veterans Administration I ever chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. During the Korean War retired in nineteen fifty-three after thirty eight years of service I found day. The Internet is amazing. I found any evaluation. You know we talk about the evaluations evaluation in the Marine Corps evaluation the navy evaluation. I found an evaluation of Bradley written by General Patent. Pretty cool because it shows it shows what type of a person patent was just in the way he wrote this thing so it says subject efficiency report through commanding general NATO USA APO five thirty four to add adjutant General War Department Washington DC name and grade of General Officer reported on Omar F Bradley Lieutenant General Period covered one July nineteen forty three to eight September nineteen forty two months in eight days duties performed commanding general to core one July nineteen forty three to eight September nineteen something unclear manner of performance superior F- Physical Activity Superior Physical Endurance Superior Knowledge of his profession superior for what command or duty would you specifically recommend him and army and then what opportunities have you had for observing him during period covered intimate daily contact. Does he rendered a willing and generous support to plans of superiors regardless of personal views. In the matter yes which is a very interesting topic to cover mean you think about what they've got in their physical duty not knowledge of his profession. What job would you recommend? Does he give generous supports to plans of superiors regardless of his personal views. No matter so this guy's going to back you up. The answer is yes and ten of all general officers of his grade. Personally known to you. What number would you give him on this list? And how many comprise your list and patterns answer is number one. I know all of them. Further remarks deemed necessary. None signed G. S. junior lieutenant general. Us Army commanded. So that's pretty awesome review. The interesting thing is if you know anything about the history of Bradley and Patton. There's some interesting dynamics. They first of all had very different personalities. Patent was you know flashy and go ego driven in a lot of ways and and Bradley was not and there's some quotes I pulled from patents journal Journals About Bradley. So it's interesting that he can have these right in that glowing like evaluation about him to try and get him promoted but at the same time here are some things he said about him. Bradley's to Conservative. He wants to wait until we can all jump into the fight together. By which time half our men will be. We'll have the flu trench foot. I wish he had a little more daring. Another one. Bradley is a good offer. Buddy utterly lacks it too bad. The IT Factor Echo Charles. Next one brag is a man of great mediocrity on the other hand. He has many attributes which are considered desirable. In general. He wears glasses which I have no idea I have no idea why. That's cool to be a general glasses. He has a strong jaw. He talks profoundly and says little and he is a shooting companion of our present chief of Staff. General Marshall also. He is a loyal man. I consider him to be among our better generals

"Five to the Purdue Boilermakers pronounced twelve and six on the season five and two in the big ten that's the most important statistic in their from their perspective because they keep that run going now where they really played their best basketball of the season here in the last seven ball games of the season, Indiana, this contest today falls to twelve and six three and four now below five hundred in big ten play on a four game losing streak. It's going to be tough to bounce back from that, especially considering who Indiana steel has left here in this very tough run here at the beginning of the big ten year. Yeah. It's a good league. Who he is a really competitive league really talented teams big strong physical teams really good coaching in this league. Purdue did a nice job today. Die defensively. Indiana. Did some nice things? I thought Carson Edwards, although he scored twenty points really had to work for his twenty points. He took. Eighteen shots today. Ten three point attempts. I mean, that's just good defense. I think for Indiana, you know, he's gonna get his points. He's a primary driver of this Purdue offense defensively Zach Roberts and Al Durham did some nice things guardian Carson Edwards, but just some of the breakdowns. I think in that second half when Indiana's trying to fight back into this game was able to get some slips to the basket from their bigs. Matt harms was able to score double figures today. He's a guy that doesn't normally score much eastern was able to score. I think in double figures, let me look at that. Yeah. He had all points in the first half of his points in the in the first half. He did some nice things when Carson Edwards wasn't scoring a bunch eastern really stepped in just balanced scoring from this team moving forward. I think it's going to be important for Indiana continued to try to get balanced scoring against these teams. Then a really good defensively against these officials that are gonna let teams play very physical basketball to have multiple guys that can step up and make shots is going to be really important for Indiana to figure out. Durham did some nice things today for Indian off the bench. I think Al had eight points today onto of five shooting. He is a guy throughout this season has shown that he has really stepped up his confidence in his jump shot. He's done some nice things. Now, we gotta get some more consistency. I think from the bench, and now might be that guy that comes in and makes big time shots for Indiana. But across the board, I think to have balanced scoring more than just a couple of guys feel comfortable taking tough shots and really stepping up and making them when gains get tied. I think's going to be more and more important for this Indiana team. How did you think this Indiana ballclub handle the atmosphere here today? I thought Indiana responded pretty well in that first half. I mean, this is a team in Purdue that jumped off to a to a big lead early, and it's easy to shrink in that moment. And I think Indiana responded Whitewell in the first half actually took a three point lead in that first half the trouble here is is in the big ten especially on the road. It's a forty minute battle. And I thought Purdue had the edge in that second half in Indiana was not able to cut down that seven point deficit at halftime. Once you get down double digits here at Macarena, not many teams that come back to fight back, and that type of deficit coach Miller's comments are brought to you by the friendly guys at Royal on the east side Archie, first of all, I know disappointment in that locker room your basketball team falls today to Purdue your thoughts on this. Credit? They made things very hard on us. We knew that was the case. There are very good offense team that executes their stuff. And I staff defense was pretty good. We did a good job rebounded thought. We challenged a lot of tough threes, and we're able to get them, and we're able to hang in the game and Foulon really killed us. You know, it really killed us early in the game. It continued at the end of the half way. Hurt us in the second half when the marches continued to grow and then go give them credit. He'll Carson Edwards is a terrific player. He got going a little bit climb made a couple, and when they make threes there are different team or guys for the most part, I figured last ten eight minutes continued to battle dig in the end of the day. You know, we felt like we could be a lot better as we keep moving forward. But it's deflating when you can't hit free throws Foulon was really really destructive to the to the margin as the game continued to go, and you know, obviously shooting the ball and here wasn't very well today. For us. We gotta get back to work coach, you know, you said this earlier this year, but shooting free throws is contagious. Whether it's one way or the other whether you're making them today, a contagion the wrong word was everybody on wasn't just one guy. Cow got going there a little bit. Maybe the second half made a couple of floors. We couldn't we couldn't get a free throws deal going down there. Go sixteen for sixteen at Maryland. Shooting them a little bit better here recently. But today's today wasn't day behind the line. And you know, we didn't play at our best Romeo. Didn't have one of his obviously bodily worst game of his his young college career. But you're eventually going to go through some of these ups and downs as you go, and you gotta be able to do it as a team, you know, for us. We're just trying to stay with it. We're trying to battle competitively. We played more guys tonight. But we're just not good enough right now in the little things offense. And we're going to have to be able to start to fix some of those problems. One of the bright spots had to be Justin Smith's performance. Well, Justin was good. He played thirty seven minutes. He battled hard defensively. He ends up getting fifteen and six they're all effort related plays in without question. You know, he did a nice job in the game for us Jawad again, fourteen and six today at five assists in this ball game and three steals everywhere. You know, played a ton of minutes, they make things very very difficult on him. Just to catch the ball in the paint. There was a lot of bodies in there. So it wasn't like he had a lot of room to operate. But I thought he did his part for the most part. Yeah. He's gotta come up a little better at Powell line, which which he'll do. Which he'll do next game out. But we need him to stay with it in his leadership. He's a quarter. What we're doing? He obviously impacts the game in a big way. Coach got a quick turnaround. Again you play northwestern on Tuesday. Yep. There's no time to really salt know, we've got to get on this road as fast as we can get these guys back. We gotta start preparing for team that we've already had a hard fought game with in clearly going to their place won't be easy. Coach thanks for joining us on the post game show here..
