But I do want to say that for so many in the community right now you are the voice. Of Reason, you are the voice of really helping people understand what's real what we don't know because there's a lot of what we don't now and you've run so much peace to so many families. So thank you for your incredible work and I know it's a team effort. You know your husband, your kids the whole team over there that's helping out but really utilize. Knowledge you for that. Your family you've been very vocal about this has had first-hand experiences with Cova nineteen and we're gonNA talk about that. But I just WANNA check it on a human human level. How're you doing during these times? You know I mean it's crazy times everybody. My son and daughter for those of you who follow me they actually contracted co bid on. I mean really it was about a week after we wanted to quarantine. So we all went to quarantine from school Friday, the thirteenth, and then maybe seven to ten days later my daughter got sick cough fever search you have a little trouble breathing. Thought well, this can't be Kovic she's been in quarantine right? We haven't been in contact anybody in as far as I knew there was nobody at school who had had covid Right, around that time when quarantine was happening, I had a little bit of a sore throat and a headache nothing major but I did my usual kind of functional. Medicine Integrative Medicine dosing that I do and I get sick and I teach families. My husband had something similar but we we were fine then a week after Kenzi got sick she recovered ten days fever cough you know not feeling well little bit alot ish tonight a similar. She got maybe about ninety four, ninety, five percents but that's literally on Day ten. It was like the switch flipped she she bounced back and she was completely like nothing ever happened. A few days later, my son starts to get a fever and I'm like, oh no, it's going on here. Right at the time. Remember early in the days of the pandemic testing was really not available I mean that available. Right so but then even more. So I managed to get a swab and do swab my child, which is not fun experience and the Senate to quest four days later it came back negative. Okay. Maybe she caught something. Weird, right Then when Bodey start to get, he had a fever and stomach ache his tummy was hurting him so much that was his symptom and that in the fever little bit a sore throat and so I thought and even back then the early days remember we we know so much more about covid nineteen than we did back in. February march and remember this is March back in the early days we still have so much word learn right but abdominal pain was kind of maybe a symptom maybe not subdue might. So I'm thinking maybe he's got a stomach flu but in the back of my mind, I, think, okay this has to be Govan. So he he then so developing abdominal pain fever really bad headache a little bit of a cough. He started seeing things and hearing things, which is really frightening He sought a wall. Yeah. He had auditory visual hallucinations. He heard voices in his room. He would see the wall moving in and out and kind of scary people in front of him. Here's H-. You really mean people saying I mean he he said he was embarrassed to tell but really bad words right? Like you know words you wouldn't use in polite conversation and so and then he got a rash on his face and pink guys, right Thank goodness back. Then the really weren't reports of this Kawasaki Like Disease Right. Multi-system. Inflammatory Syndrome associate with children. Because if I had known about this phenomena I think I would even more freaked out than I already was right but his oxygen levels dropping he did go to about eighty eight percent at which time I did bring him to the ER. Now I was low dam up with all the supplements that I had researched. You know for Kobe nineteen both preventatively am for support. Active Illness and I fully one hundred percents. We're GONNA talk about some of the things that I did but that the interventions that I was able to do for him through the through the research really helped him to bounce back very quickly.

Right Intention

"The Buddha said now this is the noble truth of the Path that leads to the cessation of suffering. It is simply this noble eightfold path. That is right view, right, intention, right, speech, right, action, right, livelihood, right effort, right, mindfulness and right meditation. So today we want to focus on right intention. Which is the second? Of the eight fold path. So right intention. What is right intention well Gill. Franz dill explains intentions are the primary or underlying motivations for what we think say or do. So it's the reason, the motivation, the goal that were aiming at when we speak when we think and when we do things and all of us have we have as I explained in the last podcast there several layers there's the surface one the more basic one, and then a primary one motivation or intention. And as Gil Franz Dale explains the intentions we live by have major consequences in shaping our lives, character and psychological wellbeing. So now, what is right intention? We want to get into exactly what the Buddha beans by that. The Buddha explains. And what is right intention? It is the intention of renunciation, goodwill and harmlessness. This is called right intention. So. There's the Buddhist definition of what right intention is. An intention is right when it deals with the renunciation, goodwill and harmlessness. Now some translations. Will have non ill-will instead of goodwill but Gill Franz del explains in the ancient language of the Buddha. The negative prefix implies their positive opposite non will means goodwill and non hostility means compassion so instead of harmlessness. You could also translated s compassion. So. Let's look at these. What is what is it meant by renunciation? Intention of renunciation it means that abandoning of attachment, aversion and ignorance. These are the three major poisons or or fires. If you will that get us caught into the wheel of suffering. Attachment, which means we crave and grasp things. Aversion were pushing things away. We don't want that. And ignorance meaning we're not even sometimes aware of the process a what's going on of this pushing and pulling and this ignorance means we're ignoring. Reality were not connecting with and paying attention to what is really happening were caught in the conceptual fabrications and not seen reality for what it is. Now concerning renunciation, goodwill and compassion Bhikkhu boaty writes. The. Three are opposed to three parallel kinds of wrong intention intention governed by desire intention governed by ill will and intention governed by harmfulness. When we think about each one of these. US to know what our intention shouldn't be. The first one is desire, and this is actually the one that that trip's up most of us. If we're for honest, its desire as Bhikkhu. Bodey explains, were you remain in bondage desire because we see it as our means to happiness. We think that sensual desires. The desires of the census is going to make us happy. And that is so embedded in our society and reinforced in media and social interaction that this is really really difficult to see through. It's the thing that trips us up. ill-will is basically selfishness as putting yourself. I is not realizing the interconnected and interdependent nature of reality. And the third one is harmfulness. This means like hostility irritability

What to do if you have stage fright.

"So I have Caroline Louisa Loyd back on the show for a very special mini episode. And this is for you if you found yourself in a situation where you're about to go on stage maybe you're about to give a presentation tation. Maybe you're about to have a conversation. who better than to have voice coach author? Caroline with me where your wheel Powell's in your ears we're we're GONNA make it. Alright Homie Caroline. We are indeed. You've got this. You've got this okay. So maybe you're nervous. Maybe stage fright. Maybe you're worried about how. Oh people or someone is going to react to what you're going to say so caroline with your expertise. What can you say. What are the three things that we three or four or five five have many. We have no limits that you can say right now to help somebody just fine that place to go out and give it their best. So first thing is buddy so so simple. If you're standing just failure feet on the floor. Relax you right foot into the floor. Feel tacos the arch fill the heel and then left foot relaxed the toes relax the arch relaxed the Hale and really just let your feet relaxed like there in soft sand or lovely gross alone in the summer and then if you sitting you can also add Beaumont chair so just failures seat bones really grounding rounding into the chair and standing sitting something that really helps is a dragon's tail which sounds completely mad. I know but if you just imagine that you have a really Heavy v Dragon's tail that's going down all the way down to the floor very games roads and all the way around the room. One that does is it. Lengthens wins the back of your body. It takes you into your back. And that's where we all when we're relaxed because when we noticed we go into front or is so put that dragon's Taylor on and then just get your ears over your shoulders. which is anti text neck? And that makes your breathing. Your body feel more confident more relaxed that your shoulders hang and just take a moment to notice. I can feel the air on my face. I can feel the clothes on my skin and see something around you that you haven't noticed before because that will just brings you into your senses and out of your brain so now you present then the next thing I would do is get put hundred your tummy. You this very subtly. If you're on a train or something no one needs to know and just just notice that you're breathing so notice that you're breathing out if you're breathing out feel a tummy move back to the spine and then notice that you're breathing. Imagine a wave on a beach. The wave is going in and out in its own time suggest observed that the wave going out and then a wave coming in. And you can do that for a couple of minutes. Yes and it's just slowing system down so that's Bodey breath if you are alone. Definite no one for the chief SUV while the train at that point probably I would sing. An my singing. Voice is not such that I want to share it with listeners. Now but just put some music secon or sing. You can sing happy birthday but something that is just joyous and silly and free will warm up your voice and make you feel more confident and then the final thing. If I'm really nervous which I am about something I have to do on Wednesday I will visualize on a movie screen in in my mind what it will look like when it works so take a moment just to close your eyes. Put up a movie screen in your mind and see you in your presentation and you'll missing whatever it is making you nervous and just visualize what success will look like when it works. See what you look like. Feel what you're feeling. Hear Your Voice and just turned up the colors. Turn up the sound talent. The feelings until it's really lovely to watch and then you can always just wrap it around you like a big coastal really step into it to make it seem like in the moment now oh and you can go back to that movie whenever you feel nervous to just give you a little bit more confidence. The final tool was a tool. I was taught by. Ah The actor Bill Nighy and he said when I'm nervous. He so cool. When I'm nervous I just think how can I help because when we're anxious anxious we're worried about how we're showing up but when we think how can. I help this audience. We go into service. We go into compassion. And that's where we all do our the best. Just walk out into that remove Kowtow stage and just think how can I help these people and then let it go and you'll rook. They go thank you. Caroline nine and best of luck in whatever it is that you're doing.

Hands-On with the New Nintendo Switch Lite

"NINTENDO's already getting ready for the holiday season. The Japanese video video game maker introduced a strip down version of its switch console on Friday. It's the two hundred dollars which light and it's lighter. It's also smaller and fits right in your pocket but unlike the irregular three hundred dollars switch it doesn't connect to a TV set here to talk about this latest device as well as what else is on the horizon for Nintendo is one of our tech editors in New York. WSJ's Bodey tway welcome. Hi Tania you don't I'm great so talk to me about the light specifically who who does Nintendo have this in mind for who who is this console for casual gamers in a in a couple of words so the switch light is a sort sort of a stripped-down cheaper version of of the switch model the switch initially came out a couple of years ago and did pretty well I have have memories of handheld devices like Gameboy I had my game boy and it was it's brings brings back memories so oh the the switch light might do that since it doesn't connect to television and it's obviously designed to be portable but the stripped down version is expected to do really really well. NPD's said said in a prediction it could be the top selling console of this year in the US and so there's there's a Lotta people. There's a lot of expectations a lot of hope for Nintendo to really get to casual gamers to to try to get this device even in light of significant competition right right and you know it's it's following this new theme that seems to be in place from all of the gaming companies remind us who Nintendo's contending with here yes so the the the just like the battle content Israel and so trying to get gamers to play it's both on console off console so with console market you obviously have. Sony and Microsoft being among its chief competitors but you know off the console and you look at mobile gaming. Obviously you have the likes of apple which Apple Arcade cade is just rolling out. You have Google Stadia They're going to have an offering soon. Google itself also is going to have a subscription subscription based aced offering that it's going to roll out later this year for mobile and you know and beyond that you just have the the the list of other you know mobile. We'll games that you can that are that are free to play and I think the biggest thing for for Nintendo obviously wants to make its mark with casual gamers but there's this you know the the bigger issue in the market is just how can you how are these console providers are How do you get people to. How do you get people to play and convince them? that you know that you're going to have that you have good stuff that you kind of have to have this device to to us and to be entertained and that's something that obviously their are high expectations for. Nintendo with this device but it's it's a big question of obviously will can they deliver right and it's all about you know expanding the brands global presence and I understand that goes into theme parks and all kinds of things. Can you talk about the bigger picture intendo similar to other like think the Disney model with Nintendo you WanNa. Have Your your properties in your extended as much as you can so we're talking about theme parks. You're talking about looking for opportunities opportunities to license your. Ip and these are all things that that Nintendo is looking to do because obviously it understands that you know you don't win just by console you don't you don't win just by the switch alone you have an. Nintendo has a long history of of characters like Mario and you no in folks who you know people have been playing for. You know you have the ability to to benefit from these content licensing deals from all these like these legendary characters so it finding ways to to put Mario and the likes of other people elsewhere is it oh I guess the characters elsewhere is is is something that Nintendo ndo in a lot of other companies are looking to

"Went okay here, we go. Here we go. We did the pre-game show. David Hayes out at the ballpark hustled through the car. It's one o'clock get in the car by telling me get downtown just pulling up to TV and there's the first four pitches. And like here we go. That's what we expected walks and then gets a double play. He'll only walks. One more guy. He goes seventy-one pitches allows just two hits and he's sensation absolutely sensational shutout to one game baby steps, but it is progress Anthony Rizzo had a couple hits up over the Mendoza line. I'm sure he feels better about that. Havi by with a really good day yet a triple and then a double an error allow him to get the third and Bodey delivered Easter body delivered in the cubs won. That game. White Sox lose two of three in Detroit. So interesting weekend in baseball cubs. Have a lot on their plate. Brandin moral being shut down from his rehab in my mind. I affecting have written him off his cubs careers over. Maybe I'll be proven wrong in my mind when you've had surgery you have a brutal injury history, and you come here and you can't get through one season. And they do elbow surgery on you in November. And they're saying we'll target may as your return and now your elbow start barking. You're done. You cannot be counted on the rest of the way, and certainly not as a closer maybe finds a way to get back here this summer at some point. But he's not a guy that you can go boy this is a big series with the cardinals. And you run him out there in the ninth inning multiple days in a row not going to happen. What you do is it Pedro's Strope? I don't know gave up a home run yesterday. That's going to happen to any closer. But is he the guy term? Do you? Go spend the money on Craig kimbrel. I know they've helped money back because of trade deadline acquisitions do you pill for that money and spend it on kimbrel. It's very easy for all of us to say. Yes. But don't forget he wasn't even closing at the end in the playoffs last year for the Red Sox because he was not good. Given him eighteen twenty million dollars a year multi year contract. Not sure I am. But I don't know what your options are in your team's window to win is. Now, you've got too much talent here to just go. Yeah. We'll just piecemeal. See what happens, but don't forget in two thousand sixteen who's the closer Danny the first three and a half months of baseball twenty sixteen when they had this unbelievable team that win the World Series. Can you name who the closer was? I can't remember Hector Rondo Dorando Hector, Ron don't ever you. Gotta get another closer. And they were able to hang in there with him this great team. And then they went and got Chapman and the rest is history. So you're seeing the cubs are going to go out and make a splash and get a great closer know what I'm saying. Is that the parallel you're saying here are you getting our hopes up? Yes. What I'm saying is if this teams in the race, maybe you don't spend the money on kimbrel. There's a reason he's still sitting at home. Not every team has a great closer. And I've heard his demands have come dramatically down. He wanted a six year deal to start in the off season. I heard he's now willing to take a two year deal. Piece sitting at home. There's gotta be a reason. And he was a great last year. He was not. So do you go out and roll the dice and go, you know, what we're going to give him a shot? Do you wait piecemeal with the guys you have and see where you're at turning towards July first? And then go, right? We're in first place. Let's go get him. Or we're nine games out. We're not going to do that. Because if you tie your hands with another bad contract, and you sign Kimbrell, and he's not the guy then you got.

There are some forty thousand people evacuated from the so-called campfire still burning Butte county, it's really cold. And now with rain on the way and shelter space. Sparse we have nothing left and nowhere to go. No one knows what to do for a living minute by minute out here in southern California where the Wolsey fire has been burning. Residents are nervous about the now barren hillsides. There's already a warning issued before the rain comes to watch for falling debris along certain roadways and canyons the soil is that unstable due to the hillsides stripped of vegetation from the fire. There's also a flood warning. Even if a light amount of rain results says L A county fire, captain, Tony. And Brandon a lot of light ash on top of the soil lack of normal vegetation, and there's an extreme risk of mud and debris flows. Even with very small rainfall, which will also he says water flowing down the hills instead of soaking into them in January after the mass of Thomas fire in Santa Barbara county. Rain sent tons of mud and debris into the town of montecito destroying homes that were spared by the fire and killing. Nearly two dozen residents in the burn areas from the Wolsey fire, very wary. I've never experienced anything like this before the rain coming midweek is considered a minor to moderate event the threshold for mud and debris flow is roughly a half inch of rain in an hour. Weaned the tenth inning walk off home run from David Bodey we will talk cubs this. Hour we will talk Zahadeh Sharma. From the athletic at seven thirty we'll cover the Chicago Bears we have some fancy. Football the mix in a major. Announcement at eight o'clock News adam So major announcement a couple of announcements at. Eight o'clock so stick around, for that but we'll start with. The, cubs yes And we will talk about the Chicago Cubs today, and, David Bodey he doesn't walk off man, three walk off so far one of. Them by walk a walk off. Walk yes to buy home run and don't remember don't forget the two. Run. Home run he had two tie it. Before Anthony Rizzo came on and then walked it off. With back home runs absolutely, David Bodey he's not a little. Boat Again Habit of. This you heard that. Too right Join, casper, and Jim dish as on NBC sports Chicago I'm Chris black along with Adam and we will talk comes here. To start if, you, want, to, join, us, it's, three. One two three two three seven seven six it. Was a good game for the Chicago Cubs I they get the home run late from, Daniel Murphy. In the eighth and you're like all. Right here we go new guy shoes up he hits the home run. And then the bullpens going to close out Pedra stroke then gives up a home run. In the following half. Inning Game two to. The game goes into the tenth and that's. Where David Bodey, gives the heroics once again, and the one. Thing I want to kind. Of bring up to you Adam as we start this conversation tonight. Is what a fantastic story David Cody has been this year for the Chicago Cubs, well he's a great story because he's. Kind of been in the minors the entire. Time he comes up he hits that. Great walk off against the nationals on Sunday night and then he goes into this like. Oprah slump for like over eighteen over twenty something like that he hits, home, run a couple days ago and then again with this walk off pinch hit home run it was great for. Him great for, the, cubs, after, a, rare, blown, save. For Pedra Strope he's been pitching really well as. Of late having a really good year so far Carl Edwards junior's been struggling as well, he was. Struggling to find the strike zone he. Only goes two thirds of innings we'll talk to Sharma at the bottom. Of the hour and get some answers on that but for Alec mills Come in and to, pitch five and two-thirds innings of one run ball is. More than I expected from someone getting a call up basically pinch hit start right yeah and he had a four point something you are. A in the minors so it's not like he's been. Blown, away guys in the minors he comes up he starts a game he gets into the fifth inning. That that's all you can ask for for a spot start like. That and it's exactly what this cubs team needed and they've gotten great starting pitching, as of late. Cole hamels last night John lesser was really. Good Cal Hendrix, is starting to find the, groove so really. The pitching has been there. Playoff-caliber pitching now you just need the lineup to show up they. Only give you three runs today enough to win but you'd like to see more, production from this offense yeah they go. To three yards and scoring position which is. Good for them usually they struggle with. Runners in scoring position but they got production where they needed it Daniel Murphy comes in. Hits his first home Run as a cub has, had a couple of hits and got some. Guys in and then you had David buddy Here's Joe men, after the game. This is his post game press conference if you're just getting into your car you're starting your weekend you're leaving work here's what Joe man had to say today after the game She was really good I mean it started out that one to. Two pitches the ball the Williamson obviously than. Urban was hanging, curveball other than that he. Didn't make any mistakes The fast food good life coming back the change. It was a real pertinent pitch for him. And he threw, some good hawks was not Emotionally affected, he was got is good the whole time Really not standing performance by him and then obviously needed that to utilize the bullpen and, what we did in the latter part of the game even though we use a. Lot of guys numbers of pitches thrown are pretty minimal so I think we're going to be pretty good. Shape tomorrow and Alec brunette. That to happen Was good Really good We've seen them continually get better since he's been. Over here Spotting up the slider fastball where he wanted to change It's a very good pitcher the thing that I noticed I thought I. Did was three to county through. Strike almost every time so he was not like wild if he was missing to get to three to count is because he's choosing to make pitches when you. Got the three to strike almost every time I, thought so it was an astounding performance by him too Yeah. This is one of those habitual things will take Well Pitcher makes a mistake like. That you don't take. Off you just can't miss it and was a hanger needed miss. It just, like you, know that was the same thing backtracking even, further but Daniels homerun to put us on top professional. Hitter they're mad and, again he did. Not this is twenty. Sought so the game was decided by the long ball towards the end really good. Game I thought, overall those really good game also thought I liked the way confirms on the bat better. Tonight I know you said one hit this, afternoon but I like a liked his approach a lot better. Today I thought that was really. Good so that's something to look forward to also that's Joe Madden post-game. Presser, thanks NBC, sports Chicago for the press conference. There speaking of Kelly, Kroll our friend NBC's, port. Chicago she got a chance to talk David David Bodey after the game on the. Field here's Bodey with Kelly. Crowe You got a. Knack for this off thing Oh man Pitches taste. Three, earlier Got it okay you were joking on the walk over the discipline was a little anticlimactic Away and we'll take them as as best we get them A great team win we. Didn't play well Got. It done pinch-hit grand You got the fans on their feet and what was pitchy we're, looking for in that moment. Housing for. A. Pitch up He hung the cider there and I stayed on down got it up You watch the ninth inning unfold there with binge raced? In the guy's really, battling it out what changed in the next inning from. An approach standpoint Scott six what you wanna do not. You know he's calling it down he started opened up down there but you can't worry about. That he's got worried about what you're trying to do Just trying to get on. Base really there I wasn't trying, to hit a Homer just really. Trying.
