"On average earlier in the show. Mike tannenbaum talked about the mismanagement of the cowboys. But there was another situation. That was mismanaged. Mike what else caught your eye. Yeah butch keys chagrin. Mike tomlin who is a great coach who should go the hall of fame. Why are you chagrined never mind. We don't wanna talk now. Yeah long story short. They're down to scores thirty literally. The thirty four and a half yard line. It's fourth in like this and rothlisberger like they're going to stay on the field coach tomlin pumps and that was the game. They were to scores. And i think sometimes we coaches. They're a little bit too dogmatic. Let me be very specific here. The pittsburgh steelers should be and can be a great defense team but at that point tyson. Allu- got hurt. Tj walkout her. Joe haden was inactive devin. Bush was inactive. And i'm sure what coach thomas like. We're the pittsburgh steelers. We're going to stop them twice. No you're not. You're not missing those four players and to me. That was disappointing. Part of the decision was. I don't think he took a half a step back to say like ordinarily we're gonna pump. Were at home. home opener. Place was rocking. But when watch out a lulu bush and heathens out. They really struggled against the rear especially in the second half. And if you think about it that particular play. Here's the different ends of the prospection. Mike tomlin decided not to. And then you go to the san francisco game in cal- shannon's on his plus talk own twenty yard line backed up and i think it was like fourth and inches. They went for got. It was or the ravens asks his guy. Yeah yeah. I wanna go for it. But i think what's interesting when you compare the harbaugh and tomlin decisions was i think with joe and wreck city yesterday. Rex's very close with don martindale of the ravens. Which is you have a much better chance of. Winning the game with lamar jackson defense defending and i think that's where i think tom's decision got a little upside down. Which is when you're missing. Four really good players on defense and derek carr is as high as he is also missing a quarterback though my heathen have lamar jackson. Tomlin doesn't have lamar jack. Better off burger. That situation maxwell had to sneak just fallen forward. Most effective play in the history of quarterbacks knee defensive coordinator with a defensive mind your strength has always been. You're defense you're going to lean on that go back to a couple of years ago Mike can you remember not even couple. This was when payton was still plan. That new england had an opportunity to punt the ball. They went for remember that he threw incomplete. The caveat fault yeah. It was like fourth in like two or three came up. This backed up in. Everyone's what are you doing ballot check. Bocek said i've seen my defense it. We're not going to win this game stopping them. I'd rather put the ball in brady's hands and give him an opportunity. They went for failed. They wanted the blues. And i'm not saying tomlin can't be criticized right. I get it. Everyone could be better. But i'm wondering philosophically about this. Mike someone who has never been under five hundred never as a head coach in the nfl ten years now whatever including when he had a backup to a backup playing. He's so competitive. He gets it done. They have a world view. A philosophy right. Isn't it tough to tell that person who's given you those results being consistent with their philosophy. Hey could you do me a favor right over here on the margin. Could you just do this one thing a little differently..

Mike tomlin butch keys chagrin lamar jackson rothlisberger tomlin pittsburgh steelers Allu thomas like Mike tannenbaum lulu bush Joe haden don martindale ravens Mike cowboys derek carr lamar jack devin

"Now. The panthers beat the jets. Nineteen to fourteen very entertaining. Game learned a lot from this game and it was great. It was a revenge game that i think everyone will remember for the rest of time My first as the jets will be bad. This year they will be bad they will still be the jets. But not really in terms of an indictment on zach wilson. Because i think he was solid he started off really bad he was one for eleven ended up twenty to thirty seven. Two hundred fifty yards two touchdowns and interception really settled in made some great throws on the run corey davis he. Him in court davis. He never huge connection. The defense vary injured. The mci becton injury is going to be huge. That was just really rough. Really tough to watch becton getting carted off thankfully is nowhere near as bad as it seemed. ended up being a dislocated knee. But him saying us playing so well while getting carted off the field in tears recitals. It was sad and tough to watch. That's also not good for your rookie quarterback who will now be running for his life in that division against defenses that he's going to be going up against because releasing your anchor. You're losing your foundation piece on that offensive line in mci becton and now zac. Wilson's you've got to be making a lot more place on the move but darnold darnold looked good He seemed to be benefiting from the adam gates departure but this improvement was expected. I don't think it could possibly get worse than it was with adam gates. Who's one of the worst coaches in the league. But still the jets still only nineteen points. Put up on offense christian. Mccaffrey so good. That's my that was my biggest takeaway. I get the sam darnold hype in places all team. You looked good but they still only scored nineteen points and christian. Mccaffrey was really stuck out to me because when he's on the field he is just an automatic production machine. I mean ninety. Eight receiving yards eighty nine or eighty nine receiving yards. Ninety eight rushing yards really close to getting a few touchdowns but that's just ridiculous. What he can do and he does it every week. He's healthy so really really hoping that they panthers keep him healthy because you can be an x factor for them when you have that reliable of target and that reliable weapon. He can really when you a few games throughout the year. So i love. I love the former mccaffrey. Donald looked good. Looked comfortable but the jets. They'll be competitive. The win more games than last year. But the jets will still be the jets. Speaking of historically bad teams. The texans texans beat the jags thirty seven to twenty one and that might be the most shocking performance of the week by far. He's the prize. I mean we should coming with the really veteran team. The houston has with david. Collies coached in the league for years. Tyrod taylor's been in the nfl for years. Lot of veterans on this team and a lot of guys that have been in the nfl for a long time. We spend a whole off-season clowning the texans organization. Everyone's saying they're going to be the worst team in the nfl. The worst team in history. Can you name this many players on houston and they have that chip on their shoulder. They know that i know that. That type of material from the media from the press fans the league. That feels some guys and tyrod taylor really shined because he put up two hundred ninety one yards three touchdowns and it was pretty cool to see pretty cool to see that from tyrod taylor who finally get opportunity to be the guy of. It's always seemed like there's always been a guy behind him He finally has a chance to really take that starting role he lifted up. The defense made plays but my main takeaways. How bad the. Jags looked i mean. How does urban meyer. Throw the ball fifty one times and trevor lawrence's first ever game. It doesn't seem efficient to me. I get your facing a deficit. But still you can't i. Don't airing it out fifty one times rookie quarterback. You're just asking for mistakes Because he's a rookie his first around four game. They're also really undisciplined. Ten penalties for eighty two yards travelers. Still put up yards three touchdowns. Three interceptions were were killer again. You can kind of limit those pass attempts and then you get results but that defense is bad. The jags events is bad. And i think this is a bad. Football team is going to be the worst football team in the league this year. And i don't know about urban meyer era. I know it's week it's week one and it's early already. Hearing the usc rumors he denied those today. But you at the usc job opened up. I could see this going south really fast. I fully expect it to be. But i just. Ceo and south. really fast. now the texans could they be a competitive team. I really don't think so. I need to see more. I needed to know at least cover the spread against the browns this week but they had a favorable matchup. So we'll see we'll see what this team looks like against a really really good browns team next week. Another defensive battle from sunday was the dolphins beating the patriots. Seventeen to sixteen by one point defensive battle. This game really came down to the wire came none of the fourth quarter to a scrambling makes a huge mistake late. I mean what are you doing. Your dude chucks the ball up into triple coverage to make seki psyche baubles patriots. Make a play. Turn turn the ball over to get hit hard on that play but you gotta throw that away on in that situation so that was rough. I still don't know what to really think about tool but they got the win. Because after that turnover the patriots were driving includes two chip shot field goal range and damian harris had a fumble and you know that had to drive bill bocek insane rough rough mistake but i just don't know what to think about too. He could have lost him. The game really. He should've lost in the game in that in that spot with interception mack jones. He passed his first test. He took care of the ball. Threw for two hundred eighty nine through touchdown Nelson aguilar through downfield was averaging seven yards per attempt. The patriots will find their groove in. They're gonna come together Looked at defensive. Still good with stefan gilmore. Coming back. they will be even better The offense will definitely come together. A little more those weapons all needed kind of build that chemistry with mack jones. I a lot more points this weekend. Against the jets and yeah. It was a great game. Great defensive battle. Those are the games you like to see. And the patriots start on one and the dolphins get the win. In foxborough.

"Better of course. I don't think anybody's gonna vote for forty two fouls so so that's the guy. So tell me about the the the loser of the school. Who is played by tanner buchanan. We will contender beauts. He an influence her in. It's not it's not like he's not as rate but i guess who fluids. Yeah what does he do on it influencing. But he's best known to history and a half million but he's best known from cobra kat. Oh he's one of the stars of the of the television show cobra cat and he does do karate in this film so he must be trained in martial arts. I think they like yeah. I think they had him do that. As a sheriff the cobra kai he. You beat somebody up like you think is gonna lose a fight to the jack d. bag. Yeah and then. He just started that he's never done any martial arts but he's he looks to being type cast in shows where you have to do martial arts. It would be funny if he doesn't actually know martial arts. It's just like in the script but then you think like always gonna lose fight. And then all of sudden he does he goes all karate chop and that's it Really should've up the guy into the pool. That's what i was thinking during the fight. Yeah like fighting your pool. But then it doesn't hit them all and then the guy throws cameron Weenie all right well. And that's that's sort of the premise of he's all that That the biggest loser in the school That a paget is going to Win him over and make him over In he's all that also. The students have very expensive and elaborate parties million dollar parties left and right now i did not go to school like this but i guess like my school was probably the exception to the rule like i did not go to school. Where like yes. There were parties. That look like the house was a thirty million dollar house and like all the girls were in thong. The enemies While doing karaoke like. I'm sure there were like that. I probably will wasn't invited them. I'm guessing It wasn't all guys school. I don't know there may not have been any girls at any parts but like it doesn't doesn't ring true to me but i'm sure i'm the exception. What about you did you have already. I'm trying to remember. the girls. Were actually like twenty. Three twenty five But they were like pretending to be high schoolers. And like i. I watch some of She's all that. Yeah and if like what would they wear on the beach scene at the beginning of. She's all that if you had worn that to this party you would have got bullied so i mean. Here's here's the thing that i with that. It's a little bit apples and oranges. Because i went to high school in the ninety s and this is like right after Nirvana kirk obeying like grunge was in so It was a lot of people. were wearing. Flannels okay so i that i that i. It was a different time it. Because i was in you know i grew graduated high school. One and like grunge was definitely over. It was over. But i. I don't remember like I don't remember parties like this at all Yeah blerta horse. Play in this film. Well what do you mean by that. Lots of many scenes with horses. Yes there are liberal horse but yes don't is a horse play. If you're like i play is like it's more horse work or plays like monkeying around. A lot of. I would just say like a lot of horses. Yeah wanna take that again a lot of horses in this. I said when i said no. I'm kidding like a so horse. Yeah we use a horse boy. Yeah which is listen. They're trying to change their man. This movie he's like i wouldn't call them a horseman. Yeah my famously. My favorite character from the television show bocek but Yeah akiva could you just run through for people who didn't see the movie what a cameron's day is like basically from like morning-till-night okay. So i mean it's pretty high score. He gets up at like. It's a three forty five to four. Am probably those two a born. Yeah where he's the only person And he like Shovels like horse manure. And then i guess when he's done like a he even worse would you say. Is this work or play the the work the what he does. Is this horse player horse work. I think this is where. I think he needs the money. Okay again. He's the biggest loser in school. He's not a billion bullet goes in shovels horse poop before school every day and then he like rides. The horse probably for fun. Yeah lots of waste. They're feeding them. Yeah and then. It goes school where he takes pictures of everything. But you'll never show anybody's picture now. Does he go to union station of an like take pictures of Like random of old people equal an extracurricular schools like eight to thirty where he's probably not in class interesting pictures of like garbage cans basically And then afterwards he goes to union station where he's like with some of the guys were seventy five years old but like some of them hate him and he has to run away everything when they see him yeah and then after that i probably goes to like or place to take pictures. Yeah it doesn't have any friends. Yeah he has a sister who's like very invested in him like making out with girls. You know yeah. That's their main goal is like i want my brother like smooch some chick. Yeah well if they're popular girls.

"We get emotional. Be on it man. That's fucked up. How can you do that. Testy row was scripted entertainment. You know what i'm saying and you lose yourself. That's the illusion of entertainment. You will lose yourself in this. People malays domino of some movie that was recorded in taped and produce and directed. We do it in movies where we get emotional behind these things. So they're just tapping into the same thing in charleston. Why dozen in the most raggedy way but that's exactly what it is. It's all entertainment. I sit here. And i will watch basketball which i don't like but i'll watch it anyway. Knowing that i believe that the referees rigged the games you guys have hurt. Say that five thousand times. I believe the referees rig the game. I'm still watching this stupid shit. I don't know why you don't say but i do. I don't know why it's yes. It's like even watching an award. Show you know. that's just faking on his. They didn't pay somebody kiss. Somebody asks you know once you told me how they do the war so that never watched him kid. It's all fake. It's not real. Oh all who you know you know what actually it's funny because if you ever watched bocek horsemen which honestly is a great show. I didn't think i would like it. Because i don't really corny animation in a way but they actually touch with some really good shit and one of the things they talk about is how people get oscars emmys and stuff. Basically they have to literally have lunch with people and actually thought that was something on tv. Come to find out. That's the real thing they have to find out who the judges are sway. Them find out what they like. Spend time with them. Be likable for them. Used to do a lot of shit for them to even support you and most of the time if you're an city if you're a music artists especially a record label is usually helping to pay for that. Or if you're an actor is usually whatever studio was the wants to get the emmys the oscar. Whatever for the movie that you in so we have this blue -fession israel not ashes real reason..

"Really special that we got access to that and she said that like there were things that she couldn't do on bo jack because there is there is a rough similarity but she was like. We can't put boobs on the window. Like on buildings and stuff like there is a whimsical wildness to To convert that helps the storytelling like. Emily was saying that Jack just didn't have and not to say like. I liked bo jacket. I enjoyed the show but it. It's very it's very different. It deals with different topics and deals with them. In different ways and aesthetically you can feel the difference in the aesthetics on how they're approached right and it's funny because for a long time people were saying like oh they're they're set in the same universe and you know there's going to be like some kind of crossover and lisa. Hanna won't finally came out and said no. They are not in the same universe so she has confirmed at least in canon our head and can do whatever it wants but in canon they are not the same. So it's not like you know to birdie are like living across the country from beau jack or something like that and she said part of that is because the animation style is different. She feels like it's a very different world looser world and i can send you a link to that if you wanna linked to it in the show notes but yes. She talked about definitely separate. Oh i mean it's just like the the lines like it's just so like curve a linear and you know it reminds me of those great explosions of color that you would get some of the animations from like seventy s Sesame street and the seventies. Yeah you know it just. I really responded to it. And i mean again. I didn't really watch much. Bodak jack harassment. This is not meant to be a criticism but the animation style seems much more like two dimensional and flattened in a way that to get in birdie feels much more rounded and full So yeah i just loved it. I'm gonna say something dumb. It won't be dumb say gender is a construct. it's not real that's not dumb. I know it's not done. But what i'm gonna say is that That's the preface to these shows. Feel differently gendered right in that. Like who like the the approach to the design style. The wave of the characters are conceived the way that the what stories are being told right like to birdie is about these two women and their relationships to the world and the complexities of their own feelings and that sort of thing bocek horsemen is about like an old washed out dude and like. I think there's some really interesting stuff. That goes on bo jack but i think that the like the storytelling is clearly conceived by people like one is created by a man about a man and one is created by a woman by about about women right and i think that that comes through as much as we want to be binary i mean. We don't want to be binary gendered all but as much as like socialization and all of that kind of stuff. I think there is a real distinction. There and the the animation style plays out in that those kind of categories as well is that to me. Yeah and i think bujak you know. I mean i haven't watched all of bodak i've watched some of it. I mean it actually is a show. That's about masculinity it's you know about like a guy who has been kind of a. He's been in a position of power and desirability and he isn't anymore and that's a classic crisis of masculinity right like what does it feel like to have been empowered and entitled and then suddenly discovered vet that can be taken away from you whereas for to two and birdie it's kind of the opposite like what's it like to have been your life in a position of disempowerment and be attempting to take power and empower yourself and so It's it's definitely coming from a very different place such a great way of describing it. See my thanks one before we we move away from too. I wanna talk about moss. Yes yeah let's talk about the mosque. This is not really gender thing though. But it's part of the i mean i think so. The moss is basically a thing that is taking over there building the building where to go birdie live with dapper dog and a bunch of other powerful and they start finding the maas everywhere and then they find out that the moss is kind of i guess like a physical embodiment of gentrification. The mosque kind of owns the building. And then there's a representative of the moss who keeps saying things like most doesn't care must have happy delaying mazas. Irony must wants to turn this place into a shopping mall and so moss has a lot of plans for bird city where they live And then we just. This arc of of the moss is so intense because unlike say pastry p who is a person and we can make fun of him and stuff. Moss doesn't care right and moss's just this force of nature. I don't know like what did you guys think about mawson gentrification. Yeah one of the hilarious. Moments is win. Two tries to get the building declared like a mighty met like a historic site finds out l. Just her apartment is affected dying. We're good here right. We're good But yeah. I mean the idea that that moss. It's it's ominous sounding like that like moss is is faceless it's creeping in everywhere and that ultimately it's it's capital empower rights. Yeah there is no one person. The you can radically eight and everything will be taken care of It is an entity unto itself. And it's sort of like a hydra and away you know they can't get rid of it because it just keeps springing up and more and more places and then ultimately we see that it's only a radical through natural disaster..

"But these quarterbacks and these people out there they want mcdonalds start so bad like it's not happening right now. Okay bocek said it before. Jurassic the senate now bill check. Set it again. What more do you want like. Just leave it alone until cam screws it up. It's what does camps screwed up. Is the way that you end. that thought. Well let's bring in. Brian greasy from espn's monday night football game tonight. We have a game. Oppressive game on monday night football you have the saints and the jaguars and we'll get to that in a moment but brian first of all good morning. Thanks for joining us. Just your thoughts. You just hearing bill belichick. They're talking about the quarterback situation. As key said there is a lot of. Let's say energy Behind mack jones. Whether or not he can compete for this job. But it sounds to us like bill belichick letting us know cam newton's the guy and it's going to remain that way. Yeah hey guys. Good morning I agree with key. I think it's It's pretty clear. What how bill belichick is approaching. This and i think it's natural for for fans especially of the team there to england Or whether you look at in jacksonville. Or in new york with zach wilson or in san francisco with trae lance. Everybody wants to microwave these these rookie quarterbacks and have them start for week one and if you're a coach and you've got an incumbent like cam or jimmy garoppolo You know you have to look at the the entirety of the season. You can't have a short term view. We've got seventeen games to play this year not sixteen seventeen. It's a long season. And i think they understand that to throw rookie out there in the first game of the season. They don't have to do that Why not start the year with with the incumbent with the starter Who is a leader. Unquestionably cam newton on your team And bring that rookie along. Let him see. Live bullets for two three four games and reassess after a month as to how camps plan how the teams reacting to them and let the kid develop on the sideline and watch. I think it's it's a no brainer and I understand why are we wanna get these. These first round draft picks out there from from from the jump And honestly guys. I just talked with trevor lawrence and and urban meyer yesterday about this. There's no guarantee. Trevor lawrence starts week one. And so i think The fanny to tonight as you mentioned you have the the saints. Jaguars you're on the call tonight eight. Pm eastern by espn. monday night. Football in the preseason and brian sean payton told peter king that he hopes the name is starter before the final preseason game which would be next saturday this coming saturday against arizona. They still have to play. Certainly tonight's game. So i would say jamie's winstons performance tonight with the stars as he's going to get the start might be the most important game that he will play since he was out of tampa. How important is this game in your mind for him tonight. After hearing that what sean payton said yeah i listen. I think it's important for jamie's You know he's in a position now That is i think it's the best possible position for his career and where he is at this point You know we had a chance to talk with him yesterday He was reflective From his time and in tampa how it ended How it went down From what he learned a year ago from drew brees In that position and now this team that has a lot of talent. Obviously they've they've had to make some changes in the off season with some of their their top players from a salary cap standpoint but they have a nucleus of really talented players back on both sides of the ball. And i think jameson that this is probably the best opportunity. The best head coach quarterback a room that could possibly be in Now he's gotta go out and do it. He's got to go out and execute and take care the football all the things that we've talked about for for many years with janus he has all the talent I think just my opinion guys. I think the team Is hoping that james takes this job. i know that sean payton is conflicted with respect to taste some hill. And how much respect that. He has for taste hill and owed it to him Sit to allow this competition to to play out throughout the off season and throughout camp and give them every opportunity to win this job But i think at the same time you know. It tastes them. Hill brings a lot of value to this offense and to the team in special teams. That if you were to win the starting quarterback position it would be a loss From that standpoint and what he brings to the offense so I think they want both guys on the field and if you had asked me i think that's the direction they're ultimately going to go that that's true in in everything bryant but i'm not gonna let you off the hook that easy you watched a lot of films preseason on the saints and what they're doing and like you said you talked to guys yesterday so who should be the starter but i think it's i think it's genius. I think jameis winston gives them a an element that they have not had in the last five six years and they wanna push the ball down the field. They have some some athletes on the outside that allow them to do that. And take some pressure off of alvin. Kamara it can't be that they have to go twelve. Thirteen play drives to score. That's just too hard. They need more explosion outside of number forty one on offense and i think that they have it marquez. Calloway is a young player. That's coming on trade kwan. Smith's another got You know michael thomas..

"With political ambitions made his first visit to the us for six weeks. He toured the country with a coterie of young europeans. All expenses paid by the german marshall fund a think tank devoted transatlantic cooperation. America had long fascinated victor orban but he seemed disengaged and unaffected as the group walked around downtown los angeles which was still reeling from the rodney king riots. Two months earlier one dutch journalist on the trip recalled that the eastern europeans in the group preferred to spend their daily stipends on a walkman and other electronics rather than on food or fancy hotels the free market and cutting edge technologies certainly appealed more to auburn than american debates and struggles over equality justice. All the rights of people of color opens indifference to the plight of western minorities became more apparent during a tool of the mit la indian reservation in oregon alban and one of his travel companions. The polish journalist malaysia bocek listened to local complaints about economic injustice. He responded with questions about land distribution. Why didn't the native tribes draft a strategy to monetize that common lands off to rule. This was what hungarian smallholders like his parents had been doing. With local collective farms since the end of communism open begun to sketch a business plan for the reservation but when his umatilla interlocutors didn't respond with enthusiasm he quickly lost interest. What fascinated auburn most during the rest of the trip was high politics. The group tool finished in new york city in july where he attended the democratic national convention at madison square garden and watched bill clinton's nomination to the sounds of fleetwood. Mike's don't stop. The excitement of the occasion was not lost on alban visiting the us reaffirmed his own desire to become prime minister of hungary at the time. The nature of the west's appeal to young eastern europeans was changing in nineteen eighty nine when all been studied at oxford university on a soros foundation fellowship. The weston consensus of the late cold war deregulated capitalism social stability and national traditions. Still held sway. These were the values. He wanted to bring back to his home country three years later by the time of his trip to the us a shift was palpable. While free markets still reigned supreme european and north. american culture. Had moved into a more introspective mode. Orbin liked clinton ism as an approach to administration and economics but had little interest and western human rights discourse discussions of gender and race or the legacies of colonialism and the holocaust albans enthusiasm for american economics and indifference to american cultural. Concerns was a sign of the direction. Hungary and poland would eventually take in the coming decades in the nineteen nineties. The two countries led eastern europe and economic shock. Therapy pushing market reforms beyond what they're western advises demanded but in cultural terms. The polish and hungarian right chose the more conservative course. The result is that both countries have continued to see themselves as deeply european even as they have stared further away from east style liberalism a decade after. "Thank you thanks ryan. Everybody's good what do you wanna talk about eight so Packers and jets are acting. This week You think roger's gonna talk to zach wilson a both his swag break question. We appreciate that. I saw the photos of zack and erin talking before the practice. In if you do recall zach. Wilson gave a quote about swag and called out aaron rodgers directly. Who i believe he has always been a fan of. He has been on the record. I guess as saying that kind of took a shot at aaron though for being a boring dresser kind of not being very flashy so that led to us asking aaron rodgers his thoughts on that and giving an entire super deep quote about you owning your inner essence. That's what true swag is. So aaron obviously knows of zach zach knows of erin. I don't think there's any real beef in there because errands viewpoint on swag in what zach said would never really offend him. But i can't wait just to hear the stories out zack. And errands conversation. The jets what they're saying. This is going to be air verse another team for the first time since you know. All the shit's has gone down all. I've seen him do his drop balls in the buckets. I'm assuming he's going to the same. Damn thing against bob solid defense but these joint practices fascinating i still. Aj don't understand how they don't end in a brawl every single time like the rams and cowboys did with aaron donald trump's last. You would think that it would end in there'd be a ton of teams do a good job of shutting stuff down right away because you say it all the time we know. If i'd done just happened one. Play all of a sudden. The guy gets mad. If there's a build up play after play where you can feel it coming so they shut it down. But i think also the joint practices some of those periods are going to be much more intensive preseason game these starters are gonna play in so they do they do a two minute ones on ones. That's where you watch and see where your teams that offensively and defensively because that's being treated like a game. Basically between those two teams and i heard the upside is obviously. It's like three preseason games at a row basically because teams a chance to evaluate to full rosters of ninety players to see who they really want. You're able to do that whole thing. But now every single rep and every single both teams period that is a preseason drill that is a preseason rep that is a game rep and that is potentially for one roster spot on both teams so it is very fascinating the amount of intensity that could be brought in yet again to what we were both speaking of and the players were quoted last night while mike while watching the hard knocks. I don't know how they don't all brawl. It's i honestly with all the jobs on the line. The different jersey for the first time. Everything like that. I don't know how it doesn't become an alpha alpha alpha moment. But i guess really do it. Well the patriots love it. It seems like bill. Belichick is all the way in on joint practices. They have won this week with the eagles. Next week with the giants. He probably likes because he gets a chance to see all the players he gets to see where they match up what they can do especially with mack jones not just their team potentially knows the plays other teams as well in how the nfl's didn't affair for that rookie quarterback he always done that. Connor has always a joint practice. Guy i don't know if he's done multiple in the same preseason but i know for the past few years they have been in also to your point. You also wonder if that The other coaches want to do it with bill. It's i'm not sure if you heard what serianni said getting the chance to coach alongside bill. Bell was very happy and appreciative of him. Being the greatest coach of all time tied on. If you saw it or yeah. I mean that's basically what he said. Verbatim was like listen. I read not not reboot. Wa- wash documentaries. These been great football coaches and great teachers and great orators. I listen bill bocek. He's the best he's the best. He's the best. I've said this. Yes this is really what he said. Towered tied guys. you know. Put some faster. So when he delivers it. But these are all real quotes. Serianni wasn't in the cdc hiring process. Just like just like. I said like a week ago if we're paying more attention to serianni as opposed to just mc serianni character. Oh yeah serianni is a deep thinker. He's going to be either think about it. He's the kind of guy that if he's able to win he's going to become like a cult hero where his like unique ways that he is people are going to all of sudden. We'll see many serianni start coming up. I'm gonna say this. Whenever i watch serianni speak both as tie and as i like him more the way i would want to be friends with this guy you know like he literally came out and said you know the documentary. That's what he said. I also liked watching documentaries. I like learning why people are great. Great so great. And it's like if you get a chance to coach on the same field. Is bill ballot gently in your first year. Being head coach. You might as well. I appreciate everything serianni saying but if it wasn't for 'em cdc serianni. I think would be the headline guy like deep thinking head coach moving forward. Hopefully they both have some success. All right that's the show. We appreciate the hell out of you guys listening pig show tomorrow big show tomorrow. Hashtag pod squad. You guys are the best cheers.

"Two hundred fifty eight million dollar contract is is that mobility. It's kind of a blessing and curse. Because we've seen josh allen. Take some really really tough. Hits so far is three year career. And i'm not saying is definitely going to happen but you always run that risk of getting hurt taking your head. That's way too big. And then you don't know where you're at if you have a serious career threatening injury with a quarterback the invested all this money in but look josh allen. Seems like a tough guy great teammate. He seems pretty smart with His ability to know when to take hits and when he's taking risks but that's just something that would be in the back of my mind as a bills fan. But i mean if you think about it any every team has to worry about that so not too big of concern now. Does this put the bills in position to really be the kings of the afc east for the next. What at least. Six plus years with josh allen at the helm i mean. I think it's very likely. Because a great defensive minded coach in sean mcdermott. Who really turned things around both the defensive side of the ball but also has over a football culture standpoint. He's really starting to build a winner and a winning team. That believes that they should be winning every year year in and year out but look we still have a tough division in the afc east. Eastern bill belichick. If mack jones can be the future for new england And then you have still have bill. Bocek coach defenses in that division. That's going to be tough test every season no matter what if mack jones can be that guy. Then you've also got to attack lows development if he can take that josh allen level leap of growth in the next few years then that is going to be another team because you have a defensive minded coach bryan flora's you've a team that had great overall defensive play last year great special teams play a team that is really rallying around their coach in miami. They're going to be very good because because of how the roster's set up with all the young talent that they have all the draft picks that they had been building up. And if two can be that guy which. I'm not sure if he can and i i would bet on him. Not being that guy. But if he is and that's another obstacle that the bills are going to have to move move through but if you had to put your money on one team. I think it would have to be buffalo. Because of how good josh allen played this year he's likely going to be in that running for. Mvp this upcoming year. And then you still got the jets. Who should eventually be a formidable opponent in the next three. Four years if wilson of takes that next step because he's a quarterback that i think has a lot of those josh allen type attributes the big arm. The kind of run around make plays happen. Type mentality that you need in today's nfl blossom into that level of a quarterback and they'll be another greet to twice a year matchup between alan and wilson that we could see in the afc. So i think this sets up the bills berry nicely to be kings of the afc east for the next six plus years as long as josh allen too fond digs are together but once again. That's a tough division. Bilbao check is still in it. Brian floors and the dolphins are still in it. So a lot of more unanswered questions for those teams but again i think josh allen and the bills will run that division for the next few years. So that'll do it for my first segment of today's show once again you're listening to the gmc football podcast presented to you by the golden state media concepts..

"Edging him out and don't forget just. The return of corwin sudden hit eleven hundred yards and six touchdowns religious made some incredible catches in twenty nineteen but he was hurt all twenty. And then you've got guys like caja handler. Jerry judy tae bridgewater will be able to get those guys the ball so i just love the kind of build of this roster and with vic fangio as the head coach really with the year that he needs to show something needs to show At least something. Close to a playoff berth. I think then they're gonna play for him. Guys love vic and i like that broncos over seven and a half years. No cardinals talked about that a lot last episode but they they're windows at eight. I'm gonna take the over on that. Keiler murray i think he's my early candidate for. Mvp aged green. Don't sleep on that move. Like i've said before andre hopkins to return of chandler jones adding. Jj watt secondary is a little suspect. But you never know. And i think they will be able to win over eight games without offensive firepower. Could depend on cliff kingsbury. And how we can motivate that. T- las vegas raiders. Their win total eight as well. I'm taking the under. I just don't see it in that. Division with as highly as i view the broncos i just don't view the raiders in that same light i i can't tell if i don't believe in jon gruden and if i don't believe in deir car because they're both have shown the ability to gruden as shown the ability to coach an offense defense hasn't been there. They haven't shown the ability to build that side of the ball. Their cars shown flashes of being a really good quarterback but again just not there throughout the season and didn't really make any notable moves off season. That kind of move the needle for me that defense in that division. I think with the two great quarterbacks in herbert in mahomes than your the broncos defense. I just see a long season head for vegas. So i take that under raiders washington football team their windows at eight. I'll go with over for that. Think ryan fitzpatrick provides provides a little more arm strength to that offense a little more civility but More turnovers the defense. I think the defense is going to keep them in every game this year. So much young talent. And i like the young defenses with a lot of guys in their come second years ready to make a second. Jump chase young possible defensive player of the year candidate. I don't know he's really good. And i think the defense is just going to keep getting better. With ron rivera. The vikings at eight and a half wins. I'll take the under on that. They've done a good job of kind of rebuilding retooling on the fly after they traded stefan digs but again one of the worst rush. Defenses in the nfl last year. I don't think. Patrick peterson coming to that secondary We'll turn that around much at all. They'll be able to score the will to put up points and they'll be on a hate to hang with a lot of teams that maybe they shouldn't with jefferson theline anchor cousins but against kirk cousins the roster just. Isn't there yet for me. The chargers their windows at nine. I love the over here. I love justin herbert But more so. I love brandon staley. I think he's going to be one of the best head coaches in the nfl in a few years reveals viewed as one of the best headquarters the nfl. He's exactly what they need on that defensive side of the ball often you'll put a points but if that defensive side of the ball can really step up. He's shown the ability to get the most out of his ed rushers throughout his career. Whether it's khalil mack. Or von miller and joey bosa is a possible defensive player of the year this year. I really think he can pull away with that if he gets. He's going to get a lot of sacks in that defense dolphin win. Total is at nine. I'll take the under on that That just comes down to to. Oh vilo i don't really believe in him great roster all around i think the win right around eight to nine games but the signs showed that to last year was not ready and early response from his teammates. I think those reports had something some bit of truth to them no matter what and again the patriots or during that tough division with the patriots and bills. But nine wins. I'm gonna go under on that. The patriots their win. Total is also at nine. I'll go over on that. It's a little bit of a gamble with cameroon Being starting quarterback or maybe mack jones. We don't know but the covert year took a lot of their defense away. Go bocek With something to prove. That's kind of a scary thing to think about with. Just i think what what he's going to be able to do with the game plans in everything but either way. I like the tight end editions. I like the weapons. Like the defense coming back in being more of a bill belgian style team being able to run the ball and i liked cam newton with one more shot to prove himself as a starter in this league. The pittsburgh steelers there at number nine. I'll go under on then. You've got big. Ben going into a more of a regression. You got the defense. Losing bud depre-. I think they're still a top ten unit. They've got all the pieces on all different levels but just not as good as last season. It's gonna be hard to replicate that. And we saw them get exposed at the end of the year especially in the playoffs against the bryans the browns despite their hot start and really what this bet will come down to steelers over under nine wins is if whether or not nausea harris is a difference maker. That's going to decide this bet and how far the steelers go this year because if they have a running game that will open up a lot for that offense and if najji hairs is someone you can give the ball to twenty twenty twenty-five almost thirty times a game then. The whole outlook on that team changes the cowboys at nine and a half. I liked the over. I liked them to win the nfc. East i know the cowboys but look back. He's my early one of my early comeback comeback player of the year candidates. He's a possible..
