"WE'RE WE'RE GONNA skip ahead now Because I think we've seen enough buff Bagwell to save us for a while so instead we're going to jump on over To cactus Jack. And Ron Simmons on the WW network. So if you're watching with US I'm at thirty nine eighteen right now. Thirty nine twenty and we're going to see the Really a remarkable perform ahead of his time. Cactus Jack and it's going to be taken on Ron Simmons a man this is Talk about styles clashes. I mean this guy is a once in a lifetime performer. And he's about to take on a once in a lifetime athlete this this should be fun what he has a death wish. A suicide intrigues crazy. Jack I'm Morte. Take that for sure. The first time I ever saw him Russell love don't know where it is in this sequence what's the vents but he wrestled mill Mascara in San Antonio it was corpus. Christi there you go and cover this Corpus uh-huh days from now with Jim Ross. And he was CACTUS. Jack Manson there. And I know what you're about to say took this fucking horrific flap back on the concrete that if we saw it today we would think their dad and the way he did it thirty years ago I would've killed a normal guy. Unbelievable he would have killed me. It would kill you did you. That spot was coming before you saw. No no I mean at that point half the boys have to think we gotta go help him. Well any already set the indoor record for HIP tosses I. I don't know why they did a hundred eleven hip tosses near that match. Go back and watch it official one. I'm thinking about and that bump off the apron on the concrete floor. When he came came to the back and I saw that he he was alive? And MAAT NOT DA Went up and I suggest you have got no sense. He looked right at me and went. He said no Arnn. I got no money. I got no dollars dollars. That's a great line and it's absolutely happened happened. Yeah and I went there. You have it I get it hundred percent. What a great line I got? You got no sense. No I got no dollars. By the way Cornet gave him some he knew cornell was pushing hard for Cactus to come in they booked massacre on a handful of you know Mexican border town. Shows that W W is running cactus finds out. He's working with him. He does not want to mill had a bit of a reputation. We'll talk about that in a minute. But he's concerned about the match and Jim said listen. Listen I'll be on commentary. I'll make sure that you're the star when the things over so Jack and look at hanging himself one. Yeah a signature spot. Has Its goal to cost him his ear against vader. I mean there's never been somebody like make Foley in the history professional national wrestling. I don't think they'll ever will be again. God I hope not either way because I mean that in the best. Oh absolutely the guy absolutely gave every Ashley world everything he possibly could muster up everything he had he gave you and if it meant following off a ten story building that's what he gave you the sound silly but he think make Foley loved wrestling more than any other wrestlers over. Yeah because you gotTa love it to do some of that ship I think he loved the business. I won't say wrestling because let's face I said his style is self deprecation. Self Destruction and brawling. He's not what I would call a classic classic Roman but I think he loved the wrestling business as much as anybody out there for what he's willing to do for the business. It's pretty remarkable what we're seeing here too because it's too soon to be world champions and I. I don't think anybody knew this at that point. I mean maybe so folks can say that. Now that Ryan is no longer with butch. He's he's prime for a key spot here but Foale is going to go on to have a much bigger career in the scheme of things on how `bout so vegetable reader and the audience and a Tuxedo look look at his own that he can look what a good dude man. What a good do J. Wadi was this Basch is GonNa go Six minutes some thirty three seconds. Two and a half stars Let me tell you something. The gays in the rain with and I'm talking about Ron. Simmons is his all man by make no mistake. What an athlete a yeah? He really is a A once in a lifetime athlete we talked about earlier. I mean it's funny you know when you're a non football fan you don't recognize how important this is to finish math. Think he was top. Ten in Heisman. Voting as a defensive lineman wow I think it was like fourth one I think it was like nine or something and when he said it on stay I could be wrong wrong. But I just remember being in the back for star cast in Baltimore and they sit in Wisco- huts and Scott says something like You know I read through some of your accolades raw and before we came out here and I couldn't believe you were only ninth and the husband. I thought you finish a lot higher than that and Ryan was so incredulous got the phrasing. Goddamn defensive player. Shouldn't even been on the list. Were you talking about and there you see the the elbow. Oh off the top rope to the floor all that weight on the hip you know He. He he's working wait. Three hundred and three pounds right down on the hip on the concrete not advisable and that's just an amateur wrestling pat on top concrete right. It didn't budge any not an inch. Yeah I think sometimes fans who have not been inside of a wrestling ring think. The wrestling ring is a trampoline and the pads on the outside of Lakha phone ballpit chucky cheese cheese. That is not the case no cement underneath those inch and a half you know amateur or Whatever you WANNA call them? If it's it's what's your kids take a nap on in preschool. Well said I mean it is it is and we got three hundred pound dudes following on their joints. It's on it. That's not great. No no and let me tell you. It's not the Jack was the toughest man in the world. Because I guarantee not once he got back into back he was a shower. He was hurting and he was hobbling and he went and he suffered in silence. It's not like he was avoiding all that pain and immune to it somehow was not one of those guys. He was just willing willing to do what nobody else was willing to do. How do you you know when you're young Cutting your teeth. I'm here Jack is probably I don't know what his contract diesels are. He's making a hundred hundred and a half tops. probably less. But you're paying for your own expenses onto that so I I know a lot of people hear that and think. Oh that's a great deal of money and don't get me wrong it is but when you're also paying and I know Jack was Frugal McDougal. And he earned that reputation but still what keeps you motivated to do. Look Oh bond buster on the ramp. This is the same. They matched by the way where we've seen him hang himself and we've seen the elbow off the top to the floor. He's not doing it for the money he's not I don't think he's just doing it for the four thousand fans watching in the arena. It's not like if a bunch of people doing on pay per view. He's GonNa get a lot more. He's on the third match on the card. There's just got to be something something in you. That really wants to do this. I'm wrong. He's the eight year old kid. Yep that's climbing up on his roof. You GonNa jump off only on the picnic table with the mattress on top of it. That doesn't care if he gets his ass in a sling with his mom. His Dad the neighbors. He's that kid right now and he's doing what he's wanted to do his entire life life and that's your finish after all spectacular ship. That Jack did he lost. Ron Simmons wins but with the matches over he. Es Ron One people are talking about Cactus Jack they say the post match brawl. And everybody's looking there. He is abby Abdul the butcher stories. Yes I do oh that was a little snug. I'm sure Iran is doing the damn for real. Yeah all the people you could hit in the head too hard accidentally exa Bentley. I don't think Ron Simmons would make less but thankfully the cavalry is here. J. D. coming down and his wife Tuxedo. I'm pretty sure that if ron came up off that Matt Abby would be in the back right now I love the Working Security due diligence to head diligence. Let's see why shove dug down. I don't know you know. This guy is responsible for making me an Anderson. You know that I do J. W-we Diablo uh-huh and we talked about that. In the archives you gotta check that out our very first episode goodyear how Mardi Lundy became our Anderson and but he did it at a time when he was in Louisiana and was his hot as whole Cogan in Luge Dan. My God was he over. It was incredible and of course a lot of the reason. He's here Bill Watts Going to get the keys to the castle. He's a big fancy. Why did you a lot of money with J. Y. D.? Of course we. I know that later this year. We're going to put the belt on. Ron Simmons. Also a bill watts situation. Let's talk about bill for a minute. It's been musical chairs for awhile here in WCW. It feels like a major upgrade to go from a gym. Heard to a bill watts well except the fact that he was coming into a corporate job working for a corporation he was used to being the owner Ball top guy all those things with his own company right big big difference than falling under Corporate America And I think that's not what he anticipated. He anticipated having free rein when he came in he changed a bunch of rules and at a bunch the things that didn't sit very well with the entire talent. And I'm GonNa tell you this right now and I've said this over the years different times you can. You can work in the office office or you can be a wrestler or whatever. Your job is with the company you can actually get heat with the office and survive if you get heat with. All the talent doesn't matter how up Totem Pole. Your job description is you're gone. And he got he with all the talent because he cut everybody's money his deal was. Hey all I want you to do is is pay me. A percentage off of what I save the company. He saw those big contracts. I know that he cut mine. and Bobby's eatings. Bobby Leans in half well half he took away catering which may make Maki when giggle but when you got to be at TV from two o'clock in the afternoon to eleven o'clock at night I ain't got to feed the machine. Yeah your expect these guys to be a world class athletes. They gotta eat and he took away all the catering at lunch boxes. It was comical. You know it was like it was like something than you would get on a kindergarten field trip that you're going to for three hours well. We just saw Vinnie inveigle Coming to the ring He's with of course Ricky Morton or I'm sorry Sir Richard Morton He's trying to clean his act up a little bit Vinnie Vegas we know had a stint as is and the master blaster. Ultra he's going to go on to be diesel one of the founding members of the W. O...

"November third nineteen eighty-four seventeen year old. Lisa McVeigh was kidnapped while on her way home from work doc in Tampa Florida as she sat blindfolded in her attackers car. She had no idea. She was in the clutches of a serial killer. Thirty one a year. Old Bobbie Joe. Long yet. Lisa was determined to survive when the car eventually stopped. Bobby ordered Lisa to dress and get out out. He led her to a building and together. They climbed up a flight of stairs still blindfolded. Lisa counted eighteen steps to her attackers apartment when she stepped over the threshold. Lisa could smell fresh paint. Her senses were on high alert for any identifying features. If she was able to escape she wanted to be able to help. The police find her abductor later. Eventually bobby brought the still blindfolded Lisa to a bathroom where he started running the shower here. His behavior changed and he began to treat Lisa like a treasured girlfriend. He bathed her and told her she was pretty completely really confused as to what was happening. Lisa asked Bobby why he was doing this to her. He replied that he had recently been dumped and was using her to get back at women women in general. His answer supports the theory. That bobby had a vendetta against women which as we've examined likely began during his childhood. Once Lisa had finished drying her hair she was pushed to the ground and brutally raped. It wouldn't be the last time that night. As a lifelong survivor of sustained physical physical and sexual abuse. Lisa felt it was entered best interest to not fight back after the attack. Lisa told bobby that she needed needed to use the toilet but that she wouldn't be able to if he was in the room. Surprisingly Bobby stepped out and closed the door behind him frantically. Lisa began to touch surfaces. All around the room determined to leave her fingerprints everywhere when she stepped out of the bathroom still blindfolded Lisa was led into what she could tell was a bedroom. Bobby later Donna. The bed and told her to get some rest. He then touched the gun to her skin to remind her that he was still armed. He slid into the bed next to her and seemed to drift off to sleep. Lisa lay in the bed for hours unsure if the snorts she I heard were real or faked. She was too terrified to move eventually. Bobby woke up and the assault began a new for hours. Ores Lisa endured sustained attacks from Bobby. Sometimes he took her hands and place them on his face pretending to lovingly caress him. Lisa took the chance to feel for defining features. On Bobby's face pockmarked. Skin Neat Moustache. Small ears. She she filed away every piece of information she could in moments of respite. He asked her questions about her family. Once again bobby showed signs of affection towards Lisa. She played along with his interest answered his questions and did her best to keep him on an even Keel finally over twenty twenty six hours after he had I snatched Lisa from her bicycle. Bobby asked her a question. She wasn't expecting. What am I going to do with you you? She assumed the question was rhetorical but he asked it again. What was he going to do? Lisa offered to be his girlfriend. She promised Thomas to take care of him and to not ever tell anyone how they had met. She had no intention of following through. She simply wanted to appease her attacker but whether the offer was tempting or not. It wasn't something bobby would accept. He ordered Lisa to get dressed and let her back downstairs to his car. The astor where she lived he was going to drop off at home along the drive. Bobby stopped the car and got out once again too. Scared to make a run for it. Lisa Lisa stayed in the car but peaked through her blindfold to see that her attacker was using an ATM nearby. She looked around and memorized nearby. Landmarks eventually bobby got back behind the steering wheel just a few minutes. Later Lisa felt vehicle. Pull to a stop. Bobby leaned over her and hugged her. She tensed up in his arms as he apologized for what she had gone through. She got out of the car and heard it drive away into the quiet early morning dark. After a moment Lisa realized she could at last remove her blindfold and she turned and ran through the neighborhood every time she heard a car approaching. She feared her attacker had changed his mind and was coming back for her. You're eventually Lisa reached the police station. They're finally feeling safe. She told the officers everything about her ordeal. She was able to describe her takers face his apartment and his car. A Red Dodge Magnum among these details one stood out that her attackers car or had one mismatched wheel tire impressions taken from earlier. "Com. So the cowboys are coming off a big win against the lines. Despite only forty I five rushing yards from Zeke Elliott. Zeke has underwhelmed this year after getting as big payday before the season started. Elliott is not in the top five in rushing touchdowns downs or rushing yards through the first eleven weeks of the season for the first time in his career. So Reggie how do you explain what has happened to Ezekiel Elliott. When when you get the bag is back on is on you only just from viewership critics but also from I think from opposition standpoint too right because I think the the narrative has always been with the cowboys to have success against them? You WanNa Stop Zeke. I right but now that he's he's also got the bag to now. The pressure's on top right. Everybody's focusing on him and so the one step that I look at that is telling is yards after contact. Because that's been the thing that Zeke has been known for you. Talk about his body. Lean and how he runs with the best body. Lean you've ever seen and the other thing he does is he breaks breaks tackles yards. After contacting last year he led the league with nine hundred and forty nine this year. He's eighth with five hundred sixty six. And so that is the one thing I've always looked at it and said that for a running back and we we have short careers in this league. Anytime you start to lose. Whatever that superpower is you know? That's when people's eyes start to really focusing on you know what it is that you're doing you're not doing right and esther yards after contact. I'm not and he's not doing it right. But he's not producing as much and breaking tackles the body lean. That's the thing I've always looked at Zeke as as being special and that's his superpowers on top of not getting injured because he is extremely extremely durable. Back that takes that many hits hits that gets that many carries he is the workhorse weekend and week out and we're going on year four now of that kind of contact and that many Carey's so let me say it is hard as hell to stay at the top in the running back position and it is what time. Hi in your career. What year did you suddenly wake up one day and say I just can't take the hits anymore I'm not I I'm using some of my explosive? I think it was after after my it was after it was my second year in Detroit so this might have been year seven or eight and I got into that I was dealing with a high ankle sprain because the year before afforded me enjoy bill has set records for the most yards from from running back duo standpoint but after that last year in Detroit when I really started to notice from from the high ankle sprain injury that I just wasn't recovering as fast right. I wasn't bouncing back as fast as I normally do. And that's when I started to notice where I started to take a little bit of a decline Kline in my career why it happens. I mean you start to get dinged a little more and the deans. They started last a little longer. Because you can't come back it's quick. Get hurt one game by Wednesday Thursday give wins dealt by Thursday started feeling better than Prodi like man. I'm good to go. And then all of a sudden Wednesday Thursday legal Friday you like L. Missing the whole the whole week apprentice. I'm basically I'm just playing and not even prices just playing and playing but I still believe that if that can continue the play the way he's playing Eh. You'll see Zeke numbers revert back. Because they're going to have to start playing courage and they're going to have to like okay. We gotta get pressure on the quarterback right now Dacca's having having time to throw the football because they're holding in there because they don't want the run just like all these analytics next Gen stats teams have these also and the staff have shown for the first years. Is that if you can control v you control the cowboys offense. Were doing a great job of destroying that narrative because Z.. What we've scene is that Zeke? Hasn't been Zeke and there's still been able to win games but it's GONNA take him skip during the gifts playoff-caliber teams for him to really convince teams. That deck has a ride in that area and that he can carry the cowboys. I mean doing it against them not doing the giants yes and Washington or the dolphins lightning. You Ain't nobody you ain't nobody you've arrived. Do we get to say minutes getting Green Bang. Dak or Zeke. I'm talking about that talk about that because when you can control the next staff the analytic said that you can control the you can control the cowboys and what we've seen that we haven't seen a whole lot. We say one game aim here because even though they bottled Green Bay they did lose you through four three law even though he threw tunnel yard against the jet they lost and he even in those games. That you're talking about the saints. The Vikings they lost all those games right games where Zeke was held to under one hundred yards. DETROIT DETROIT. What we think in Minnesota in Minnesota where do you do? Are you mixed me up with. Yeah Yeah Yeah played. Maybe best game the year against the Vikings and the ball got taken out of his hands at the end of the game. And that's why they lost would have been thirty eight thin then we'll go back down the field cousins implant. I've been saying this for months on the show and I'm doubling down today. I'm horrified by what I don't see from. easycall Ezekiel Elliott. After he got fifty guaranteed million dollars to sign once upon a time. When you got drafted second overall you got a bag? But it wasn't like this bag right. I got fifty is by far the highest paid running back in the league in going to Detroit. I'm thinking police snap out of it. Whatever funk you're Syrian slump you're in this or that something off just snap out of Detroit was ranked twenty sixth in stopping? The run. Zeke went sixteen in times for a grand total of forty five yards. Do the math on that. That's less than three yards all work especially when eleven times you get fed the ball on on first and ten eleven times on first down. They sit here do this load down. The stats are screaming. Something is wrong. Or different about Zeke. I think something's wrong here. I don't know the picture is screaming to me. My TV is screaming screaming to me. Ain't right not not who used to be because I used to see him attack defenses with this supreme athletic arrogance of unjust better than you all. You know y'all I'll just run over and through all did it for three years. He didn't do it for one on year. He did it for three. You would have led the League in rushing three straight years if not for a six game suspension in year two and I saw contagious aegis rage that would turn into just dominating joy when he reached the end zone and he would just how to the heavens and do this because he was dominating pro football now he looks like he's plotting in Kabul sand. He looks like he's lost his edge his confidence you handed handed to him and he's tip. Toeing to the line of scrimmage. I'm like just bobby. Lean them just just explode into the whole 'cause used to carry people for five six seven yards. I'm not seeing that guy anymore. But again what horrifies me is Jerry overpay at a time when he is shelf. Life was starting to expire. It's possible let me let me say it is because when I got to Detroit going back to your same narrative Scotland Lenihan choice. Scott Lenihan runs. Things got really really well right now of coordinator from Africa rose three years leaving the league so I wonder how much of that is affected active by the new offense coordinator Game Plan. Are they running. Those same type runs because what you're saying it means that he got the ball on first down eleven times in a game everybody knows rundell and so if years just fed the beast three years. I couldn't stop him. Is it becoming too predictable. You could argue. Accept his carries. You're actually up this year from last year under Scotland and he's one nine thousand four through ten games versus one ninety one through ten. I will say this is not about. How many carries the efficiency okay those carry as the offensive line? Lost its edge. I don't know you know they're not as dominant as they wants work. So there you've seen more times than not the opposition I'll scream may appear to be pass blocking a little better run blocking right so so again. Sometimes this is just doing deep psychology here. Sometimes you get paid like you never thought you'd ever get paid you lose just a little bit of edge edge Dr Commitment. Whatever that little thing is in the back of your mind and I'm going to throw this out because it's been a recurring theme with this young man? He's had all kinds off field issues. News is there something behind the scenes troubling him. We don't know about because he doesn't look hurt to me. He's never on an injury report to your durability boy. He's incredibly audibly durable. But is it the Earl Campbell Syndrome is kicking in and your four. Where oil just took too? Many hits too quickly is starting to stick going a little bit more just a a little bit more but he wrote. But here's the thing you can run the contact when you're young. You're three or four skip and you still run to contact what happened happen. You'll run out of run into contacts. Hurts this averts. It's like enemy fighters who wants to do like they said after conor had got his mega millions against Floyd writing and Dana. White saying who wants to get up and get hit in the face after you've made one hundred million now now Zeke's got fifty in the bank guaranteed not in the bank yet but it's guaranteed you hit it and maybe he wakes up in the morning says. I don't know if I want to do if you Y WII correctly you've seen a lot of guys Aaron Donald and you see you see they don't. They don't moved design hungry. You WanNA prove that you're worth okay. I want to hear Zeke get mad at one day in one interview and just blow up and say okay. That's it it's over. I'm promising this weekend. You Watch what happens this Sunday. Watch what I do. I've not heard any anger out. Him whatsoever thing does give you. Can you can have all the checks. You won't to which you better have that profile to be casual. I thought he did the office coordinator to because remember the front five. Got Their bags your bags. You'll.

Some new episodes of the call up dropping in between the last time you're on this show, and now you don't say what is. We're gonna talk, we're going to give DaMarcus Beasley his do Chad Marshall to. We're going to talk to Adam bells of scuff podcast with you twenty World Cup, John strong, and Stu holding they're going to be here to talk all star game Gold Cup and MLS. And yet, we have to start here, and we have to dig a little bit get her detective work done, because I'm not sure where you stand. Right. I'm just I'm trying to make sure I know what situation which house do you stand? What podcast you claim you are your John snow and you're between both and I don't know if you're gonna stab me in the heart or support my claim to the throne too soon racing. Come on, now, you know, I've got nothing but love her for extra time, family. No, it is true. The new podcast has launched the call up with me, and Jillian sack of it's, it's great to. We like to think of this somebody, somebody tweeted at us. Oh, is replacement for extra time. And we're like no. We are the we are the appar Tif, the main course you know, we're just gonna kinda like which pal it a little bit. Fair description. Now you guys are you guys are absolutely hundred percent. The main course but it's just, you know, it's just honestly, it is. You called it like MLS happy hour. And that's kind of what it is. It's basically how Jilin I chat with each other. Like when we meet up for drinks about all only wildly entertain we don't we don't get it like do the deep dive into tactics, and all that it's more like omega. Is that you're actually the entire meal? Now do. Do the desert and the mount course you are. And I smacked Zana podcast network. Starring says extra time is fortunate to be underneath that umbrella. Let's get to it and talk soccer bobby's lean and all the way back in his chair because the best. The best best. So it can't can't participate in it. So Bobby will start you here to legends walking away. One of them now Chad Marshall leaving the game entirely in the middle of the season here. He's been listed on the club's injury report for a long time with that, right? Knee inflammation. His final pro match ends up being at Minnesota on may fourth. We'll get the DaMarcus Beasley in just one second. But I read your column on Chad Marshall's retirement on the site, and I should have known this. But I didn't that Chad Marshall was perhaps the inspiration for the biggest decision will ever make in your life. And that was attending the university of Stanford not stand. It's not you ever Stanford. Never. City College of Stanford. Oh man. What's did you go to which? Is Chad Marshall is it was two thousand two. He was playing for Stanford in the final four. They played UCLA in the final, he was in centreback pairing with Taylor Graham to his left was Todd done a fantastic college defense to say the least and Chad Marshall was the best player on the field. And we know how Chad goes about the game looked so easy for him. And he was eighteen it was even more. So he looked like he was dominating people who are two three four years older than him. And he was barely sweating doing it. And then the announcer pulls a line, and Chad Marshall had been a star for the u seventeen national for the u twenty national team. He could've gone anywhere in the country, probably could have turned pro and the play by play announcer says Chad Marshall pick Stanford because he wouldn't push himself to be the best soccer player in the country, but also wanna push himself to go to one of the best academic schools in the country, and in that moment, thirteen kids sit in my parents living room floor looking up at I said, I wanna be Chad Marshall, I wanna be that guy. And then you ran through a wall. And the parents had to do a lot of drywall work after that something like that. Shed Marshall is the only three time immolates defender of the year two thousand eight two thousand nine two thousand fourteen he second all time. He finishes this way and games played by a field player in major league soccer's second all time in minutes. He's won two cups. He's been a four time all star four time best eleven four-time shield winner. He is an absolute legend on the last show. We talk to another one, which was Chris wand allow ski, but these are two guys who helped build maybe not necessarily the foundation, but they raise the house, so to speak the league had started, but it was still finding its place in these guys became legends. They became legends in San Jose, and in Columbus. And then in in Seattle, I mean Chad Marshall. I don't know. I don't know what to say about that hasn't already been said, but he's also kind of a quiet star kind of like Wanda, at least in the public eye, but he's just a player that should be, and will be remembered throughout MLS history, and we'll get to in a second have something named after him. I think. Absolutely. I mean it's when you look at, at all the accolades, I think it was was it hurt Gomez at tweeted out, just name the name they award after 'em, which would certainly be deserve. But the thing that has struck me since this announcement is the response from his teammates, the, the, the other teams the respect that this guy has garnered amongst the league. I mean that to me speaks volumes about the kind not only the kind of player he is because he is certainly respected as a player. But just the kind of locker room guy that he is. And people tweeting out these funny anecdotes about, you know, how just kind of what I would do all he was in the locker room and he kept everything light. I mean he was all business on the field but he knew the importance. It's of keeping that locker room together and cohesive, and everybody loved playing with him. And when when you look at his legacy, I think that is something that's going to stand out as well as well as all of the accolades, and trophies that, that he's one but it's just a, you know, he's the type of leader, and I think being a, a centre back, you know, like you look to that guy, you look to that big guy back there. And he, he was he was kind of perfect he was just that perfect position player. And it's, it's just so evident how much people are going to miss him. How many yellow cards did you have in your most reading? Two or three. Per game per game. Okay. So Chad Marshall in sixteen years as a pro had eighteen yellow cards to red cards, one of, which was rescinded he is known as a dominant defender. And yet, he does not have to use. Let's say the overly physical side of the game to get the job done. He's a absolute terror on set pieces, or was, I guess he is retired. Now it's hard for me to get that through my mind that it is actually he's not going to play, arcade. Whether we're not gonna see him run out there and push his way in the second half of the year to the top spot in the west and maybe unless Cup. How should people remember him as a player? Chad Marshall a few things. One is a winner, right? He won MLS cupping Columbus, and he was a key to what was one of the best groups, top to bottom that we've seen in MLS in. He did all the things that you said he was dominant in the air as a player, but he also had the mobility to defend guys one v one whether it was smaller players coming in field or big center that he had to battle with or chasing the open field. And to me, that's what made him so good was there, so many. Interfax that are great at one thing and struggle in the other parts of what they need to do and he could do it all. And so you could partner him with anyone, which then went onto Ziggy Schmidt takes him from Columbus where he wins MLS Cup and helps build up one of the great clubs in this in this league history and then goes to Seattle. And when you talk about all of the big name pieces, and the DP, and all the things that Seattle brought in, and of course, Seattle Ardy had a great soccer history. But winning matters, winning is what keeps fans around winning is what creates great clubs and a Lynch pin to them winning was that Shad Marshall is on that team because you had won an American. So you had a guy that you could build around, you could use international roster spots in other places and a guy who you could literally partner anyone with. So you could go out and find talent from around the world wherever you needed to, and he consistently had new partners. And Romano was the one when they won them less Cup. But Zach Scott for while was the guy who was next to him, whoever was Chad Marshall was good enough to pick up a lot of that load. And help them build that team. And when you look at the spine of that team from Steph and fry through him to Ozzy Alonzo, over the years, and whoever was at center, which is some of the best names, they'll go down some of the best spines we've seen in Major League Soccer, but for Chad Marshall individually he allowed coaches to do so much and have so much versatility. And it's awesome because he played an MLS his whole career. And that's not something we're always going to say. But as you said, we just talked about it with Chris won the Laos keep Chad Marshall, I think it was on a different level for most of his career where Wando peak late marshalls always been one of the best players. Bobby talked about him in college in he chose to make his career here and I think he built up to the best franchises. We see in Major League Soccer, he retires chedda Marshall does is one of five defenders to make the best eleven four times I would've quiz you on this guy's, but put it in the rundown. So Robin Frazier made it five times. He's a forgotten legend no doubt about it. Chad marshals their mortgage solace. Jimmy Conrad in anti-pope? What a group that is..

It's four streams of unconscious. Well, I think I think the story came from a couple of places. One is I've been. Sports one way or another throughout my life point baseball. And then maybe they might actually say to somebody what what they're actually feeling so part of that comes out here too. I think. Gladys pointed across the interstate that's whereas Mexico, one of the most dangerous cities in all of Mexico violence. There's so frequent it's become commonplace. Especially for women. You would be taking your life into your hands. If you simply walked cross the road and across the border, you will see the border police pacing along the Rio Grande. It's very surreal. I later asked one of my Texas friends to explain. How this can be El Paso is one of the safest cities in the United States explained the cartel. That is so corrupted the government police and security in Mexico wants no attention drawn to them. So they keep their legal activity to just across the border tried to see across the river. But it was too dark. Gladys spoke Spanish she grew up in L Paso went to college and returned. She was very friendly. I asked her what she thought about the people living in Mexico who are dropping their children on the American side of the border between the two countries. "Which is perfect. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, weirdly we were. So when all this was going on I was shooting this the third season, Mr. Oba and Bobby was played great great job playing Irving when my favorite character from Russia. And I believe we were shooting. The scene at his his used car lot. And we were just sitting in the garage waiting for the next setup and Bobby leans over to me. And he's like have you heard this podcast homecoming it so good? And at that point had no idea that was involved that we were that. Julia was like, you know, so far ahead, and I was like Bobby I'm making the show the TV show, and he's like what? And he just sort of shared the enthusiasm that showed when when I I listened to the podcast. And then we just started talking, and he sort of told me he was he was interested in playing the the com- part. And I mean, kind of immediately clicked in my head that would be perfect. And I think we just love working each other for mister robot, those kind of an easy conversation. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So if they're seen in coming. I feel like it's narcissistic or something because it's something that I directed. But it really had nothing to do with me. This is Julius performance and stuff on performance in the last scene of the show just breaks, your heart, and I just was like weeping. And again it had nothing to do with me. It's just a performances on such high level, and they're so human emotional that. I it just stayed with me. He directed each of the episodes of this right here teasha runner said you have a preference bird executive producing directing directory of Mr. robot to. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What's great about homecoming half hour episodes? So you're kind of you become a little less insane by the end of it. But, but it's you know, to me, it's it's a tricky thing. New Jillian, I I talked about doing homecoming. It was really important to her that I was director of all the episodes because coming from the feature world her, you know, she didn't really get the whole. You know, a new director comes every seven days doesn't tackles another episode. She won. She had that mindset, which is very similar the mine, which is why in MS robot chose to direct all the episodes because I kind of had that mindset of that similar mindset of there should be one sort of cohesive vision there, you should you should have all the scripts done. So. The actors can kind of understand their art for the entire season that and then you can also shoot in a more productive way because you can block shoot all the episodes and not have to jump back and forth and locations. So everything from top to bottom felt like it made more sense for my mindset, and obviously for Julius. Julia. This is her first time in a right to. Yeah. So that she was yes. She was a fan of the podcast. And when I found that out I jumped jumped on that real quick and told my agents, huge fans Julia's and until nations I'd love to talk to her about it. And of course, you know, went into the into the the FaceTime meeting really kind of intimidated because again, those grew up big fan of hers, and she's big movie star. And but she disarmed me really quickly within the first few seconds. We were talking like old friends, and then we start talking about the project, and I told her about the tone than those going for and she was completed a huge fan of all those movies and shit worked with cool actually on the pelican brief movie, I really love. And and so we just kinda clicked and hit it off. And we knew we wanted to wanted to turn this into the same thing. Say right now because of the announcement of miserable season. So what led to that? Well, it's you know, it was difficult decision..
