"Strikes me boy at a Monday, Bobby, gene. Thank you, Jordan Gazzar housekeepers show as always in the booth there. What do you think Portland schools? There's a pushback by students. They're protesting. You're walking out some some students I should say. Although the mayor that community in Portland has taken a lot of heat for being less than aggressive with the protesters in the streets of Portland socially, taking sides against law enforcement. What do you think what one four seven nine nine one six twenty? Kyle from Tulsa is it is the way the children actually feels are just a projection of extremely liberal parents fears onto their children perhaps number two gun-free zones like schools, make me more nervous because the vast majority of mass shootings take place in them. Also, an important point as well. Let's go to Dr calling from Nina, you're on WTMJ. Good morning. Good morning. What do you think? I fully support any methods necessary to protect. A grandson and a great granddaughter if the schools in Portland, so they're actually in that school district. Yes, they are. Did you ever get the sense from them that they feel like this is an intrusion on their on their school day? And it's they're not welcome. Absolutely not. Well, that's good. It sounds like you raise you raised your your your kids. Well, they've raised their kids. Well, also. To me. It's a safety thing. I think if you thanks for the call, Dr if you looking at keeping kids safe school resource officers are one of those ways one you can do that to you could also have some in school counseling of the unofficial variety. It's the kind of poor kids in the right direction. High schools middle schools are interesting places. There's a lot of dynamics there a lot of social interaction. Why not introduce the concept of law enforcement professionals to those kids in a way that doesn't involve them. First meeting them at a traffic, stop or a drug bust or something worse educates. Communicates wonder those become bad things. Let's go to Dan calling from the south side. Good morning. Daniel WTMJ. Well, and I think a lot of this in in your I think it's welcomed in your suburban in rural communities to have service officers in the school. And I think some of the pushback may come from your more from your more urban environments where there's a generational mistrust of the mistrusted the house. How do we change that? Don't we start in schools? Perfectly. Absolute perfect place to start started. As you said, though, that they're their first your first reaction with police is not at a traffic. Stop. It's not. Boxster something like that that it's in the school where they can see the positive effect that that law enforcement has in the community the relationships that they can forge with children at a at a younger age, but it does largely come from from a generational this mistrust of the beliefs. When the police are not always of the positive variety because no one likes getting pulled over whether whether you're speeding or whether you're not, you know, I mean, no one likes to get pulled over and that creates did immediate adversarial relationship with the police a lot of times in the in the urban communities. I think this is a good way to a good way to slowly change them. Dan, calling from the south side, thanks for the call. If you're gonna complain about this presence in schools because of whatever perceived notion, you have a lot of courses media driven by the high profile cases involve issues between police and perpetrators of crime that have escalated some in some cases, African Americans being killed by law enforcement professionals. And those are adjudicated on their own individually. In some cases, we've seen him in Milwaukee. The law enforcement professionals is found guilty in his often loses his job, and and and or worse. What if we're gonna complain about safety and security in schools? It has to start with this. I often say I'm more optimistic with the young people in this country, but I'm disappointed in in places like Portland, and frankly, a lot of communities on the west western coast, left coast United States that have these attitudes. We're letting a very small sliver of high profile stories dictate the relationship between law enforcement and the general community. And I know the caller just made the point that it's different in urban school districts. It doesn't need to be. I'm not going to sit here and say law enforcement doesn't have work to do. They do PR is a part of every world every environment every job, and I've I've been supportive of what I've heard from. Walkies newest police chief Afonso Morales because he talks about that. We have to do better at communicating be better communicators, including himself, and that's why I praised him for being out front and telling the story why why we're at where we're at how do we fix it? But when I see stories like this from a school district in a big city in our country. It frustrates the heck out of me because it shouldn't be this way. It's up to the the folks in Portland. I mean, they're going to do what they want their their school district their community. But when you get push back from students on this perception that somehow law enforcement is the enemy here. That needs to be met with a fierce counter argument that says, you know, what you're wrong, your kids, not adults, and we can show you in a very friendly manner because that's what school resource officers. Do. It's not confrontational. It's it's a very comfortable relationship. I've been in schools with school resource officers. It's a good transitional peace between students and getting out of school and into the public. Learn what the what those folks do on the job, and they can help you in many many ways, Greg from Appleton. This is so frustrating. I I can appreciate soliciting input from the kids at school. But you have to keep in mind their kids. We are the adults the teachers administrators and parents need to make the right decision and implemented. We're in charge. We need to act like we're not always their friend some decisions we make are going. They're going to like time to grow up and make the right decision. Absolutely. Sometimes adults need to adopt Bill from s on the mortgage talk text line. So who they like the response when something happens exactly Bill? You have to have that connection to law enforcement doesn't mean there won't be some painful moments. There doesn't mean that they're going to say something to kids the kids may not like, but that's the real world. Not the fairy tale world that some people live law enforcement's there for a reason the school resource program is tremendous it needs to be encouraged and nourished and enhanced not pushed back against. I don't care what the politics are your community is if the politics community demean law enforcement. Our push back against they're very tough jobs, keeping people safe and secure. Then you're doing it wrong. It goes for Portland and goes for Milwaukee goes for anywhere that that's happening. We should be encouraging more investments the school resource officers more investment in school security because we've seen what happens when we don't do that. The alternative is not very good. I'll wrap up my show and handed off Jeff Wagner on this Monday right here in WTMJ. That's next fifty.

"I'm doing the stand-up interviews, and that's where he got the nickname main, gene when he was doing that in the Awa with Jesse Ventura and Jesse is explaining gene he was up on partying with Tom petty and Heartbreakers and then ask Gina pain who Tom petty was and allegedly Jane said something like he's famous race car driver. Right. Isn't piecing with Richard petty? And immediately Jesse says that was mean Jean, and what do you know, manging stuck? And I don't know that. Gene, really loved the name. But it certainly served its purpose mean decide Mangena people know who that is they they certainly do and it worked really well for gene all those years. So I think the Jesse really did him a favor by giving him that moniker mean Jean and overall when you look at the person that probably got that over the credit has to go to haul Cogan because hulk is the one that that made it universal in me, gene. Let me tell you something brother. And when people do interviews, and they start to go into whatever impersonation they wanna do womb to you. Something mean Jean? It's so easy. It rolls off the tongue and it made a hell of a career for gene, Oakland. It's crazy when you think about the amount of talent that role through the W A because you know, I'm sitting here thinking he worked with he being manging pronounced Powell he worked with HOGAN. And the way he works with Bobby Heenan in the w he worked with Jesse Ventura, the w I didn't think about all the other talent, you know, that I mean RIC flair learned how to wrestle in the W A from Verne. They learned also taught Ricky steamboat there's so many just phenomenal all-time world class talents who came through the w that eventually really made their lot in life somewhere else. But the two hours associate with Jane, I don't know why the sense is whole Kokin and Bobby Heenan both of them may in the Awa. How would you categorize the Bobby then manging relationship? Well, the first of all they were business that they? Worked together, and they were friends outside outside of wrestling going all the way back to Minneapolis, Bobby, gene, we're very close friends. And then in later years, they both lived outside of Tampa, Florida, and they were very close, their wives were closer families were close, and it was a friendship just garnered over many years being in the same business and being able to share the same ups and downs of the wrestling business. It's so crazy anything about to buy this. How long has gone careers were. And you think about Awa there at the same time WB after their same time w there at the same time all the four years of their career aren't together. Then not insane. Yeah. It really is. It's crazy especially in the wrestling business that you're able to have that that long of run at the same people. So let's get to you know, while we all probably are listening to this and remember maintain in jumps to the WB app. And gene said that until about mid eighty three when Vince McMahon I came to him told him about this vision that he had talked Jean about how cable TV was becoming a thing. And how they could go national Jean said that men's never mentioned anything about being global as the WWF. What later go onto the obviously, I mean, they make more money internationally than domestically these days. I'm sure, but one of the things that I'm always found fascinating as sort of this old school mentality that existed back, then of course, now with the benefit of hindsight, we not how up, but gene dismissed this idea. When Vince I lays out the vision because he doesn't understand how this could possibly work logistically, and because he had a full-time gig doing the ad ANC. He wasn't willing to go away is other biz. Business. And I wanted to try to make a run at this opportunity with them. So it's cut the deal that allows Jean to work three days every three weeks and any got some urging from his whole France, Pat, Patterson and hall, HOGAN and eventually made the jump, but obviously money played a major role in decision as well..
