Well, here's Pete combs for you. Economists are modest fortune tellers, they don't want to predict the future. But it's their job to say if government does this the economy will do this still when I ask a couple of economics professors at Emory University. In atlanta. What might happen? If President Trump makes good on his threat to close our border with Mexico. I'm totally prepared to do it. We're going to see what happens over the next few days. These guys were gobsmacked the idea of closing the border to trade was so preposterous just never occurred to me that that might have been the threat that's Ray hill and economist at Emory University here in Atlanta, his fellow economist, Tom Smith is even more emphatic closing the border would be an insane move. Economists are usually a pretty state lot. They have trouble conceiving of wearing stripes with Plaid's. So when you hear words like insane from the likes of Tom Smith or Ray hill, you stop what you're doing and take notice he can't mean really closing the border to me trading is very important the borders are very important, but security is what is most important to me. I have to have security we ship things to Mexico. Let's say car parts, they manufacture additional car parts and send them back. Back to us our industrial processes on both sides of the border, depend on what's going on on the other country. And that's why the effects would be so drastic. Pete combs WSB. WSB news time.

I don't know. Rob, I think I think you're gonna look back in ten years and the jets are going to be the team, one hundred percent. I think the giants will rue the day that they blew it as far as picking a franchise quarterback column for the next ten twelve fifteen years. I have no idea when you have a season like that, which was like the giants all time worse. Yeah. And you have a chance to pick a quarterback for the future and you can't live in the past to ally manning thing? I get it. He wants to Super Bowls. You gave him the parades all the other stuff, but it's over and you got to pick a running back in this league which is quarterback league, they football. "In the brakes of some of the tournament games i flipped over to the mets who were had the game televised and matt harvey was pitching yesterday and i watch a little bit of may struck out of the last five guys he faced which was nice it's been a long time since he's been dominant but i just don't know how i should feel about him which is weird like should i want him to be really good but then if he's really good he signed somewhere else in the off season that's going to bother me like i don't know what i should think about matt harvey going into this season i think really what i came up with was going with the lowest damn expectations possible and if he exceeds that then that's great it'll make everybody feel good as opposed to thinking he's back baby or bobby cox saying that it's the old matt harvey and getting all excited about that i just i mean i can't do that i can't do that to myself i can't go in with high expectations for him because i have no idea what we're gonna get you don't want i think he's already met or exceeded every single expectation that i would have for him in spring training so i think he and zack we're have done a really good job here kinda rebuilding themselves they're on the cusp of trying to get their their their careers back on track i actually like what i see and i know how difficult and how lonely it must be for a lot of these guys that you know when they're away from the team and they're injured and they're trying to work their way back to where they are right now it's got to be a pretty exciting feeling for them this is a is a huge moment for both of those particular players this year simply because of where they are in their contract years especially for matt harvey and what he had already experienced in terms of the success that he had early on so for me as a met fan watching what he has done this spring training i'm actually generally or genuinely i should say excited about what i'm going to get from him this.

"That clubhouse he was huge because in a club house which not measured today and hard to put numbers to he take one guy or two guys out on the side said we don't do that here this is hot know how you become a big lear you know he had to pull backing of manager bobby cox and let terry panel and should bream run the clubhouse and make sure that these young talented players had an opportunity to know and to see purse hand that your words matter your action matches your words and i'm telling you is priceless for rush uh it was almost like a gifts like all the things that we wondered if we'd never win again we're coming right right in our lap from team from guys who came from other teams allowing us to to to benefit from that and without it i don't think there's any chance you know we had guys like veterans in charles e brandt uh helping uh th the young pitchers and even in a way we're no one maybe pitch like him but he gave us we had every corner covered in a way that that basically gave us a chance to develop the young farm system that bobby cox it built up and then john sure holds came over and addison pieces in an orchestrated this incredible run that we say without a doubt every player knows we should have won multiple championships it was on us we didn't get it done and that's the one thing that when we look back we realize no one in the history of the game will ever do what we did uh but we definitely knew we should have won um we should have one more championship on that so interesting i mean take way if i were to say to you from 1991 you went on to win support team straight division titles fourteen straight so when you look back on that era what dan do.

"The playoffs of course in we're watching some of these great aces on the stats in the playoffs like kershaw the unit i probably the best pitcher in the game they only kept demand for five innings he wasn't patient great but he was pitching find they were winning and they took about the fifth and then they go to all these relievers which makes the games take four and a half hours you know well it's all these saver metrics if this is all computers spitting out savior what is that like a tooth from a it was a sabretoothed tiger vying but anyway it said drawing these games out forever because they're bringing guys in an app at the vegas go with what the press out s talent here lead left if he's coming in and this is what this guy's history is in situations like this i mean the data it has put into the computers to get these projections on who you should put in and where against o is pretty complex you think billy moore at what are used all these metrics today guys flew by the seat of the pants in those days sometimes those are the best manager bobby cox was he had numbers guy i think he was more of a gut instinct old school guy uh but that we talked about the yankees now aaron judge he still struggling pepi i don't know what's going on with them tell me are complete power outage you know he added the after the allstar game and he has won the homerun hitting contests and took eighty swings as hard as he could new hip like one thirty one over the next month or whatever then he got it going here phenomenal september to fifteen overruns and now he's back into the power outage so far he's in his last twenty seven at betsy has two stuck at the end of his last twenty seven advance he has nineteen strikeouts and it's the same story over and over again you know when he comes up to the plate the pitching lord away is going to wave at the ball if the knockout him he can't he just covering the inside of the plate they called stepping in the bucket when he stepping at a pitch to swing at it he stepping down towards the third base line that's not good ortlieb cannot cover the outside the plate and these pitchers are geniuses their masters with the scouting it's all he.
