A lot had big topic. Dave big topic you. You were excited for this one. I'm excited until I heard that we don't know who the order is yet. Yes number one fucking pick. Here's what we're going to do We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA base going to break it down to a top five days a little different. We're doing NICKELODEON SHOWS. But since there's so many good ones we're gonNA have a draft of it so it's not like a true top five but it's GonNa be a fantasy draft okay. Yeah what's up? I gotTa Henry is can you call me? I lie. You WanNa go. I know I wanNA know. Who's the choice for first? And why they're the choice refers sinners snails professional fashion. The camera guy has a number behind his back. One through four Dave. You pick. If you're close you get first pick three. Get it now chief for one too so I guess now you gotta get a new one. Was it five Walter for you. Dick what I saw is right now. Runs back again. All right all right. So one through four Dave. Call three two one okay. Axa Carl's I and we'll go in this rotation Sante three now. It'll be Carl me. Do I tax day can sneak it. Yes okay now. We'll snake. Is that work fare awesome? So I up to the podium for the NICKELODEON draft will be Carl with the first overall. Pick in the two thousand twenty nickelodeon quarantine draft I select born in nineteen ninety-one salute your shorts. Ooh very strong pick. So this'll go. Salute your sources start? I don't I don't know how else to go anywhere else. There's so many good shows but I wanNA start with donkey lips. I want to keep it real donkey lives. What was the name of the scary guy? Fuck out our high forgot his name. The intro song was very solid Intro Jams. I hold you in my heart exactly camp on Fart man. Ugly was a camp counselor. That's I think that is. I mean if you didn't want to go to camp on WanNa something was fucking wrong with him. Made Summer Camp. Seem so awesome stamps flying. Now that I'm an adult and I look back on hindsight it's it was such great parent marketing material for Nickelodeon so now young parent and your kid is watching. Nickelodeon in your turn the fucking TV off. You don't need to be watching that bullshit and your kid comes running in dinner. And he's like Hey I've been watching the show about summer camp and I WANNA go away for three months if you're fucking parent you're like yeah. You Watch all the Nickelodeon you partake later. And so then the parents get on board and I I would say because of that salute. Your shorts becomes a big cultural bridge between parents in kids in summer. Camp and making nickelodeon okay. Great pick the repair and hate it scary guy. I was thinking of looking at Zeke. The plumber big role. Bobby scared Bobby. Budnick great names to number one. The border salute your shorts to Carl. It's up to me kind of go with the dark. I'm a scary guy like scary shit and I've always wanted to throw that fucking sand on the fire coming together so many classic episodes that my number I was just going to try to go through like the theme song of it and I started in my head going Doodoo Doodoo TV show. I was thinking x-files X. Files for like eight year olds though it's not that But yeah so I'm going to go with. Are you afraid of the dark intros? Well a little leprechaun little piggy bank Swinging swinging and then like the goosebumps series. We're kind of bull riding. You read the books at school you go home and watch our dark. How many puffs books Tiki right? Oh Man I read thirty lists socks day. I think I go with the The surefire gotta go with rugrats rugrats is probably the most popular show of all nickelodeon shows out. Say Number Two So yeah I'm going with the RUGRATS. Tommy Pickles Phil and Lil Chucky that fucking snot nosed asshole It's it's the most popular nickelodeon show I would say ever and so. That was a good one to have you ever seen in. This is probably a good tinfoil Tuesday for you guys the conspiracy theory behind rugrats. It was all like a bad dream in Al and Chalco Satan or some shit and Google. It it's fucking Dallas actor Lipchitz car. We're going to chief. Yeah I I was a big game show guy. My favorite Nickelodeon game show was global guts if they put that on TV right now. I would probably watch marathons of that like that. That could replace sports for me. So nickelodeon could just start running reruns that please do. What a guy that they had the original. Kfc RADIO WAS IT. Brian Beer Brian Beer. I'm beer right. Perfect game perfect legend. He had he had the agro. Craig thing what was it called. Yeah yeah he took it. He took the blanket off and like unveiled it all mar for girls nameless. Yeah Oh no Great Show my next pick. I feel like you guys might be a little young for this but hey dude. Kinda similar format to Camp WanNa Wanna the salute your shorts show but they had Christine Taylor who was Ben Stiller's wife in real life now but she. That was like an early show. I had a. It was like well. Maybe my girl from like yeah. She might have been like my first crush when she was on. Hey Dude I've never even heard the show. Hey the Haizhou was by far the best theme song in the audience. And I'll fucking throw hands over that tank. That's a great one. You never heard of. Hey do it was literally salute your shorts. Accepting says summer camp you get to go out west to the rant. Exactly don't live on the ranch offense. Oh I mean it's basically the same thing like kids having more responsibility than they should in kind of oversight from parents that are kind of dumb and all that shit interesting all right. Hey Dude off the board to chief number two today I am going with another game. Show legends of the Hidden Temple. I so I had a college roommate. Who GETS SUPER SEWN IN WATCHING NICKELODEON at like two in the morning and I was super wasted one night and I told him I was on legends of the hidden. Top Orange Iguana into his deba leaves me. I never told him it was. It was a lie and it wasn't even meant as a lie at the one because I didn't thinking believe me but he did and to this day things I was on the show. Anything like the coolest thing ever so that was obviously on my list to and if you want the easiest Halloween costume you can possibly call one of those shirts and throwing like Carl's bike helmet and you're ready to go. It's still plays for anybody. Like if you see the Orange Iguanas or the a blue barracudas at a bar healing legends Edwin actually surprised that went out of the first wrong. But you know when great show on the last second rounder man so fucking hard I'M GONNA go with I'm going to go dog right. So number two is Doug Doug Funny. Roger Klotz is Eddie Mayonnaise. Debt is a fucking great name for a dog by the way folks English bulldog or something Chapman Gall you winced I assume doug was your next pick. Pick from you for obvious reasons. I was definitely my wheelhouse. Doug the one of the great moments nickelodeon history is doug calls into the radio show and this is a chance for him to like beat. Roger and get Patty man as he's just got all. Es Ado all he has to do is solve the little fuck in. Trivia question about the beats his band the beats and they go. What's the name of their upcoming album? And he those beats me Nagel. That's right you are the winner. You're the Grand Prize winner. Zoe said it by remember that. Thanks Doug funding in a nutshell. I have to pick here. This is very easy for me to do in the in the second round double dare. That's more of a classic for me. I think I'm the oldest chief. You're the oldest in their own but double dare for me was the spark that led to games like legends of the Hidden Temple and whatnot. So all the slime. That was a great show. That's my second round. Pick the knows the.

Leonardo from the turtles. Good as your brother. Strong leadership skills are my GRANDPA's splinter loves Raymond. Ninja Turtles Split. That's hilarious. I think for brothers I would have donkey. "I think Chapelle fo- longtime was that cult classic favorite but he just hit mainstream. He was just going to be too big. There was no way to control control. That via I like Chapelle but I've always highly preferred Chris Rock. He's my number one. Yeah you like Chris Rock to ask you man. WHO's your favorite comedian out there? Now Chris Rock year I think he's the Moose thought provoking he's one. That part of the humor in his jokes is at. They're just so true in. There's no loophole Against some really. You like thou here. I love all of specials. I know some people bad mouth tambourine the latest one I loved loved. I didn't see his Netflix wants. I haven't and I'm GonNa tell you why man I like Chris. Rock can be very funny man. But then there's Times Roms. I'm just like if someone doesn't have it on. I'm not very entirely Unical. Seek Chris Rock. You know what I mean. I won't deny anyone like we were all hanging out right. And he said let's put it on. I'm not knocking object to it. But if Alabama itself I'm not going to go watch my favorite was the last few us not even the latest one to I'm shaming myself. I did not see the last one but I saw the one before that. How long ago was that whenever that was just before the summer was that that was more than a year ago? He can't be those more within a year. It wasn't that at the beginning of the year. No sure yeah man marrone effects memory. At least that's what I read one of those signs Jer Dan. Dan was less than the last one was. Probably the Judah friedlander one that came out like a year or two or go that one discrete discreet. I was surprised he's always been someone I'd seen him in the background. I things but I never knew his name or anything. Sometimes it happens like Batman. Batman you just you see these people back all of a sudden boom their time just comes and all of a sudden you seem popular. y'All watch comedy I again my time. My life is so limited that I don't know if I'm GonNa pick and watch something I'm one of those has binge-watching lazing watch a TV show. And I know this is a quirk about me but I usually like watching the ones of comics unfamiliar with I mean if another comic. I've never been a newer. You're one if it's on TV. Oh Shit but right when it comes to looking it up I know like who are like and everything right. I gotta be honest. That's that's just I think with everybody. I'm the same way. I'm not going to voluntarily be like Oh let me do that. There's some true enthusiasts. They should sell quite good like there's certain comedians that yeah I know I'll start watching them may influence me. But it's like I kinda random never heard of basketball. NBA Players Players Watch other NBA Games. They do but like it's but if you're at home and you got Netflix on and you see it's not like I watch her sure. Yeah I'll listen to it in the background for show. I want to see what everybody's on it. Yeah see your enthusiasm. You're definitely are man you you really hone hone into the craft that because that means you really love it that much. I guess that says a lot about someone like me man i. I sometimes just don't pick up that random and I got a really have a a lot of dead time on my hands. Yeah like fucking place. Someone I've never heard but you know sometimes when I think like that. What does that say to someone like people that we see? I hear on Tom Tom or someone like us right now. WHO's to say why? Why should you even listen to the show? Then you know what I mean like. It's weird no today. Because of Dan White spot for rhetorical people had heard of the show right up here shows they heard exactly you know so we need more people like Matteo and less like me. WHO's zero favorite comedian was man? You Know Eddie Murphy. Because you know that's who I just saw I can remember being the most funniest when house growing up in his face stuck with it. And then people like Shapiro really came around Martin Lawrence yes long wits funding with both him and Eddie Murphy. Their first specials were classics. I didn't like either of their second one so runs out at. You didn't let rundown and I didn't really really like overall Eddie Murphy's raw that a lot of people say that the follow ups like that hard harder to hey. I think it's the same with Kevin Hart new one Murphy. You inside about that here over Dolemite and I'm glad I'm not even watching because of how good yet. Well I don't know I think you have to. You are so special. Oh so you. Are you going to watch that common. But I have Eddie Murphy kidding me. This is like you know for whatever it's worth it's it's Eddie Murphy. WHO's your favorite dead comic dead comedian along man? I'd say Bernie Mac for me it would probably be dangerfield. Oh my God. You're so right. I love Dangerfield more for his movies. But those one liners were classic. Man One liners were just legendary. The way he did that about what is wife walk inside. He taught every time we had an issue. He talked to his doctor and come back with a wife or he's like every time I look in the mirror I feel like killing myself. What's wrong with me? He's like I don't know about your eyesight S- perfect amen. Let me ask you bro. When it comes comes to the comedy I hear? What's your opinion with the right now? I think it's either hitter miss certain rooms or greet other ones or Ma- I think a lot of it has to do with how invested in how seriously the people running it or taking the show like I've been to certain open open mic shows where everyone's like whatever won't be paying attention to how well they're doing or how much time they're on siege for and that just is puts. A Clara makes crowd board and they don't come back to following shit loose right so you feel that some of these comedians. What it's at a fitness it? A split few you comedians. Here but yeah one of the reasons. I've been really happy to partake in Ho seen fins and things Thursday nights this Larry Dog the one who runs it takes it very seriously. He treats it each show as a professional show. You Working Larry Dog. That's right. What's that what's that light work? Will Larry Larry Bell by the way it was Larry Dog I don't know if he watches. But whatever senate the Larry for anyone wondering what Larry Dog looks like. He's pretty pretty much. I'm John Witherspoon. Stop Ganger IOS choking the other night on stage and told him that that he should audition if they ever make a sequel to the Friday movies said that they don't even have to listens name in the credits. They can just say this movie. He's been shelved for three years. Eight grew quick here. What's your favorite John? Witherspoon movie and favorite line. I would say my favorite movie of his of course would be the first Friday and my favorite line of his would probably be as cameo meal and Little Nicky. or He's like you thank them some crazy us. You WanNa see some crazy ice. We was in little nicky year. He was a street vendor who charged to rip off. Adam Sandler men watch that you. I don't remember him being ed but see. That was the thing with John. Witherspoon man I felt like he was in everything you could think of man and like you might have been on this podcast before this guy was on every being yeah. He was a huge face. Just not a name. Same Lift J. B. Smooth. Everyone knows their faces but not their names right right right man. That guy was legendary man in everyone always has a favorite line from John was mine one. Is You gotTA coordinate. Douse the classic one or the one. When he was in the bathroom don't go INFO about thirty forty five minutes somebody over the window? Would you go the number one number two like I loved his lines may was iconic and he literally just had that natural face to be a rubber face. Oh Yeah Oh yeah for sure. He probably hadn't even funnier face and cosby yet. Know for sure. Did everything better than cosby right now. He left with a clean name. Aim Bro exactly hope. They don't do him like they tried doing. Michael Jackson recently where they start digging dirt up in his name after his death long after the it was cool. The other thing is it's not like that film taught us anything we didn't already here about millions of times. These people just always China resurrected. Today's some way somehow man I mean. I just hope it doesn't happen with John. Was Man. ARPITA that gap. Mammoth drink won't for that guy is here. That was leaving Neverland. That was literally really like ten years after the whole I mean this guy's been gone for like a hot minute already. Like bring them back out of just crazy so let me ask you. Then what you've been working on lady outside of working with Larry Dog I also have a new podcast silently. Oh three EPA sued so far it saw. Yeah Wha- what's it called it's called Vanilla Watson anesthesiologist nerds see the slower. Vanilla Weiss and the nostalgic nerds and the nostalgic nerds was about Pretty much it's about different people's era of nostalgia she and we compared to today's entertainment and today's culture like One of the reasons I choose a theme as my my good friends. Who helped me start the podcast? He was actually a he's in. La Nineties Child Star. Anybody thirty thirty or older. I don't know if you all remember salute your shorts but he was bobby budnick and he was in terminator. Two Hughes John on Connor's friend with the red mullet Montana. Max and tiny toons man. I got I got a resume on. Yeah got a little motor right now. I I honestly it doesn't come and ring a Bell Does everything buffy Mattel differnce. Schroeck says. Well you don't even know what that is is my prime the re outlets a refund. Rerun Tab it's funny. It was a black said. Comedy said refund the refund although that sounds good Jewish comedy we want the refunds in that era that a lot of survivors. Yeah Awesome Norman. Lear Shits dog me we gotTA fucking universals in technicolor. But yeah he yeah. He was from that air salute your shorts. Who's actually my favorite childhood show? Ever and he he was my favorite character. You're on it so you guys become friends. This is actually hilarious. How it happened about a year and a half ago? You know how I have a extremely photographic graphic memory right. I remember everything and you remember the day you were born. Took no not that far memory so good. Oh yeah wins with. We're drinking and smoking and stuff like that. Can still mentioned like certain lines to dialogue from my childhood for my early childhood throws Shit back to people all the time but you heard harassing there be like Mary. I remember you said back last Thanksgiving. We weren't going to do that again. And talk about that. Movie sets sight. Damn 'cause I do remember a few set for many years ago but I don't I can't say I will call all my sets. Fuck no yeah. I remember a good number of them in where I was when I said them. But yeah the way I mean. The Sky got connected. Danny Cooksey is on facebook. Of course. I'm wondering though I'm a member of one of those ninety s nickelodeon fan pages. That's were salute. Your shorts was on and when I Rueda posts about the show and me and this other guy commenting I kept describing all the details. So in-depth Lee of Lake every episode and out of the blue. I see him common and says You remember more than I do so in. Yeah I'm sure I'm sure the producers the radical remember you talking about the way you making yourself sound you probably but again and there was a red door knob in your bedroom in that episode was. Weren't you Dan. Oh Korea but so I added him as a friend who accepted in a few months later. I saw advertised his acting courses his voice acting as well and I I R I comment going on man. I really wish I lived in La. I would absolutely love to take the courses uses and his wife comments letting me know he does skype courses too so writer right away I registered and we we met he saw some of my clips was really praising them and we just hit it off pretty much at.

"And David was someone who deserve Justice, but just not in the way that hit the fell hat. And I think that. A real good lesson maybe for me or maybe for other people that like your sense of Justice isn't God sense of Justice. So you're not always the executor of that. Sometimes you just got played out and let God figure out where this happened. I give your give. There's a couple of health right here. Give me a lot of those in the story. Do feel like the rapist always gets the biggest l. I will say in the bible binge. If you have a rape somebody, you're always getting. You're gonna get the allegations. There's no way to like skew this in a way that it works out so Amnon. He just had an entitlement. It was such a sense of entitlement that he even when she is telling him this is what you're doing wrong. This is how this will go awry here all the ways that this is not gonna work out, and I'm even going to give away. He was so ruled by his lust that he could not see what was actually happening in front of him. And so it's very, it's idea that like it's okay that that keys like, oh, it's fine, it's fine. Don't worry about it. It's not buying, it's not okay. And your decisions. Again, the consequences were so far. I mean twenty thousand. I'm not saying that it's his fault that twenty thousand. But like because of this kind of snowball effect, twenty thousand people died. Yeah. Yeah, I'll I'll give mine branching off of that because I am not team rape. So I agree with you. Of course, I've skills breakfast always get ELS from us. Just I'll give it for for different conversation. I'll give it to have Salaam because there's. Came into researching this story and setting it at thought, well, he's just kind of a trust fund kid who couldn't handle it. Right. And and then the more you read about the more I started thinking like, I, I like that. He eventually sister. I agree with this guy and to be honest with you, David did seem kind of like a sucky king because he's always tricked. When someone's telling a story, it's always about you, David, you big dummy also like when his kids are up to stuff that shouldn't be, he doesn't do anything about it. So I don't mind that he was like, I need somebody's gotta do something here. The problem is, I think when you start to fill yourself too much and you get too much heat, you're like, I'm there's no indication. It seems like that was like, hey, what do you think about this? You know, even when Saul was on the run and David knew he was anointed. He was always checking in with God, and he was like, hey, like so shy kill. No, Nope. Okay. We'll we'll just keep keep running the caves. I guess when I don't find with that, there's no indication as has also Absalon everybody knows when you get into power, no new friends. No new friends. Okay. You knew you didn't know who shy you knew? He was probably not someone to be trusted, but then you sat right there and trusted him, always a bad move. All right. So let's get into our application will wrap up section from the sub. So Jamie in our. So what? Who cares what your first one? Well, speaking of salon as loser. I think one of the things that destroys ads on is he could eventually his sister's rape by going to his father and saying, you have to dispense Justice for this or going to the counseling going. You like he has to face consequences for this. But instead he led his anger take read, and it ends up becoming his hatred of Amnon, his hatred of his father in ability to fund Justice for his sister that hatred take such a gross grotesque route in his life that ends up destroying his life. I mean, literally destroys his life, and here's the thing. My friends Robertson recently said that we were talking about a friend who was really struggling, and she's like, the problem is she speaking from wounds not scars, and that that was me in the most profound way because I think a lot of us we speak out and. We get angry about things, but we're doing it from a place of still being wounded. We've not forgiven. We've not self reflected. We've not let go of all the hatred because when we speak from scars like apps on had the opportunity to be an incredible leader, think about like even if he had even if he had not like if he had not killed Amnon, Amnon, probably would have lost. I mean, because David could have decided, oh no, no, no, you're not the one most. We know that guys all go none the all the ones who gets to be became, but he could have been a great leader in his family. He could have changed the outcome for all of this, but he didn't because he let and listen, got it. So clear to us. He says, beloved, and he says that I love when got says some Romans, he says, beloved, never of injure selves, but leave it to the wrath of God for it is written. Vengeance is mine, I will repay the Lord. So even though I like that he took, he did it from a place. He did it from a place of wounded nece and not from scar and we just we were never gonna make good choices in that in that moment. No. And. I think that's really a home with that kill Maga character from Black Panther vaccine. This is a character who only reacts out of the hurt, never the lessons he's learned in an applying Justice, even if it's from himself in a in a thoughtful way, it's always from a reactive way, and that's very much Aslam the story. My so what who cares? It concerns, Jonah dab, the initial character we meet with them non the Bobby Budnick, salute your shorts, shady character. So this is a guy when we described. And when you read the scripture, literally in scripture says, he's a crafty man in a red and commentaries that that can feel like a sarcastic kind of qualifier of like he's a craftsman that definitely something that was applied to Jake as like not strong or outdoorsy buddies clever, but it's always in a way that you don't like right, but in the commentaries is this is not a negative connotation. This is a good positive connotation that they're describing him with this, right? But cut. To how does he use that? What kind of craftiness does he help bring into the world wealth Acilitator in the rape, rape of a half sister will that's not good. That's not good craftiness by man, that's a bad job. And I think the really simple application idea here is look, we all come into this world and we develop unique gifts and talents. Whatever it is you've got something really great at, and we've got something we're really great at in. We all have that thing that we can give to the world and make it a better place. What are you doing with it though? Are you helping people rate their half sisters, you're doing a really bad job. I think we're all burdened with the great obligation to use that thing were super good at make the world better place. It could be a huge way. It could be a really small service oriented, not charismatic way, but it still matters all the same how you're doing that. So I think the biggest challenge for me when Rian that is, let me look at my life on a look. How the things I'm good at. Let me see if I'm affected change in a possible in a positive way. John dab, he did not, but we have up journey to do that in a really positive good. My other. So what who cares is that? I think we have to offer the tamers in the world more than silent anger, Robert baron. When he was writing in his commentary about David's it's certainly the David who dispatched Goliath flew. His tens of thousand took the four skins of two hundred Philippines and conquered the nights would muster some pointed response to an actor tally with his own household, but it was not to be. And there's just such a sadness, there of a dad, not who was absolutely in a position of power where he could have corrected this with Justice and he didn't, and I think we find ourselves particularly in the church in a place where we think silence is the answer when that is not ever going to find Justice for people who are facing assault abuse in any way, and we have to be the people because look, all we know is that comes to steal kill destroy. We're told that in John, but that God comes Jesus that we may have life and have it more Bentley, and the Lord will fight for us. But we have to be the tools for that. We have to be the tools for that God is fighting for us, but through each other, like we have to advocate for each other, we have to do David would not do for Tamar. No, that's really good. That's really good. My last one is. Two ideas kind of folded into one. So the first you know we spent, I guess the first two are so episodes of the season. Talk about how awesome David is for three trauma, how great he is. And he was great, and he is a man after Gaza heart and and his sins that doesn't change that. And I think I have to fight the urge in this season of the bible, binge to be like, David sucks. David is unredeemable now the true, right? He's done some bad things and he should be shamed for it, but he's not unredeemable right? He still Superdome blowing great and and good things. Incredible things are so much symbolic stuff in the story. Even the betrayal of day by the fell that we didn't talk about that pave the way for Jesus that present the idea that Jesus coming and this is a flawed version of Jesus, but there's gonna be perfect version of Jesus that that of David that will be coming to to redeem people. But I think it's easy to think. It's easy to be good when you have a purpose and when you know you're wanted for a reason and you're going to be the king and it's easy to walk that line and be like, okay, so I just got to stay here and solve weird and this is hard and I'm in caves, but I'm gonna be king, but I'm interested in idea that David loses that thread once he becomes king. And I think sometimes it's easy to maintain a path when you have a course real life a very specific course you're trying to get somewhere. We just moved recently. My life was complicated as we moved, but in a lot of as though simplified because it's like I gotta get stuff ready to move, you know. But now that we're here, we moved, it's easier, but it's not so much because I don't know what my path is completely right now, you know, and I find that a lot in David. I wonder if you know he had that freedom to be like, well, I don't have to find anymore. I could just hang out on a roof and sometimes bad things happen when you do that. So I think it's important to remember just because you don't have that explicit purpose and path. You still do have a purpose and path that you need to follow. And I think from that. When you give yourself over to sin in that in that circumstance, because you have that ability, you have that space in your life to have sin. That becomes a foothold for shame and it prevents reconciliation. But even more than that, it limits, correction, accountability for others. David, a firmly believe I didn't read this as just my opinion. I firmly believe that David bring the hammer down on people because I wondered if he's still dealing with shame bash Sheba and your Ryan, what he did in the eighteen people who died. And I wonder if he sees Amnon Amnon. He's like, I'm really mad about this and this is unjust, but I did the same thing. So what can I really say to my son here? And I know apps created this whole rebellion, and he's Luke people in. He wants to kill me, but I still love him. And I know I remember when I did stuff like that, and I feel really bad about it and who am I to spend step up and correct this guy because I did. I did things that are so so bad. I think you give yourself over in limits you to help make the world a better place, but also like. It makes you a prisoner to that sin in that shame and you're not supposed to be like the greater saved, and you can have freedom in that. And that's okay thing to feel. Once you've made reconciliation, I wish David had forgiven himself in the way that God had forgiven him. I, I don't. Do you read that you feel that do you think like if feels like David hasn't forgiven cells if you're walking around and letting somebody pilch you with rocks because you feel like you deserve to be pelted with rocks like somebody who has who probably needs at least a good our therapy session you on saying like somebody who needs to forgive themselves that got it, forgive them and we do that right? We take, we say, God, let God has forgiven me of this thing I've done, but he I'm gonna need to pack it up with me and take it with me everywhere ago. And that again is just like Tiffany said that's working from a place of wounded and not scars scrape. And lastly, before we go, we're gonna end with an accountability segment. We're calling a gentle review with our resident, bible scholar, Aaron moon, as is our tradition. We send this episode Aaron and she in turn replied with her issues. "bobby budnick" Discussed on The Bible Binge

"Hello and welcome to this very special episode of the bible bench. I'm when your host docs McCoy joining me as always hanging by her hair from a tree in the wood of Ephraim, Jamie. Okay. So here's the the bible bench is a show where we take stories from the bible and recap them as though they were a movie book or a TV show, we say, movie bicker TV because that's what we usually do on our other show about pop culture. The podcast would not Jamie where we talk about popular culture sacrilege every Wednesday. And before we begin, we just want to be clear that the bobble bench has no agenda. This show is into evangelical zero. We just think that the bible hasn't Superdome stories and we wanna talk more about them in a voice bible scholar and more every man every woman, the conversation that will take place in this episode is meant to be more casual, not out of disrespect, but an effort to better understand the story. This episode is number five in a season where each episode will be deep dive into the life in times of that heart plan. Giant Slann watcher sunbathers in man after God's heart. David to make sure you get every installment of the seasons had straight wherever you listen to podcast and subscribe to the bible bench plus don't forget to follow along with us on Instagram and Twitter at the bible bench. Finally, here at the bible Manche we urge you to love others as. You love yourself and share the bible binge on social media, and if you wanna fall along as we go, the main biblical scripture and the story, this is look, this is a book while episode you guys. I'm not even ally about that. Okay. This is second Samuel chapter thirteen to eighteen. We're covering us hunt ground. We're coming so much ground. I don't even have awesome pun to start with because we just got to get right to it. In the last episode we discussed David, MSG, Yvette, and his David's Gandalf Nathan came and said to him in verse ten. Now, therefore the sword will never depart from your house because you despise me and took the wife of your either the Hittite to be your own and the Lord's out of your own household. I'm going to bring calamity on you before your very is. I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you and God did not waste any time. No, that wasn't a casual ref. God made like he was very, he was going for being vague and like this will mean something else. And later you'll have to figure it all out. It's like, no, no, no, someone close to you is going to sleep with your wives when David sees it. He's like that. Was it. Get it now. That's so fun. And it didn't take like thirty years y'all. It took like a minute like, yeah, took a hot minute. So again, we have cast David as Leonardo DiCaprio, this is the grizzled phase of Leonardo DiCaprio, he's an older guy now, not that baby face anymore. He's got some cool some crows feet on the side because he's gotten into some stuff that he shouldn't have gotten into, but we're gonna meet a cast of characters. Do you want to kind of go like as we talk about them? So like in this first initial chaptered you'll to cast who were talking about? Yeah, let's do that day was willing to Capri. Oh, also Joab little finger from game of thrones. If you go to church, you probably haven't watched that wink. I totally get it, but just look it up. So if you don't go to church and you watch game of thrones, you totally understand what we're talking. Right. And as a reminder, Joab is David's nephew. He's the commander of his army. If you did not listen to Dave in the best Sheba, he is the one who helped aided take out that she has been your riot in did not even care as he did in this first chapter that we're going to look at, we are going to meet at three of David. Dron. Now as you call David has nineteen sons, one daughter, and then truly more kids than that because he's got more wives that we just really get from chronicles. We get the name children, so he's like nineteen sons. So the oldest is Amnon. He's the oldest son of David and his mom is a Noam. Now she is great, and he's really like this, you're the crown prince, you're the likely person who's going to take the throne unless God has a different plan. And just he often has a different plan unless you do some stupid four, he does do some the soup it right now. This is literally the heir-apparent today, correct? That's right. His name means faithful and true, and in the story he would've been somewhere between the ages of fifteen and twenty. So those brilliant years where boys make the best decisions of their lots so Amnon. When I think of Amnon, I think of a guy he's grown up in privilege grown up. I don't know. I don't wanna say that like causation correlation apply. To privilege douchebag ary, but it doesn't not apply if you understand that it is a Jason yet, right? So this this is a guy who as we meet his big thing in life is like, oh, I just wanna have sex with my sister. Like that's his big like ima wanna. She wants to discover the heart of the island. He wants to have sex with sister. So I'm not saying that they're they're very different, but they are very different in a lot of respects. So for me, I'm like a half to someone that captures the essence of douchebag ry. That is why Jamie cast Robin Thicke in this role hyphen. That feels right. I'm not proud of it but feels right. Like somebody who has a pretty good dad but doesn't live up to the standards. Oh, that's a better way to put even think about that. Good. So that's next on has a brother, the third in line which is weird to by the way we're not gonna talk about the second son because he just the theory is that the reason he's never referenced in scripture other than a list here, my kids is. Because he probably died young. And so we skip right to the third son who is Absalon an absolute has a sister tamer. They are both the children of David and their mother was McCaw. She's the daughter of king town. My who is from the neighboring assure. So we're talking about two Royal family. So both mom and dad are royalty Absalom. His name means father of peace and taymor. Sadly, we already learned this because we did an episode on didn't team, and we learned again that taymor means palm tree. It's not great. No, and what we knew about these to the most important thing we know about these two and the narrator really does stick to their guns of making sure that you know that these two are very attractive. They're like super pretty in a super pretty family, like really attractive family will. These two are the prettiest of all the pretties. Right. Okay. So that informs definitely are influence of who they are so forth. I'll go at taymor I. So for taymor the personal I wanted. To capture somebody who is rich in character and appearance, right? Because it's text that's true for both on someone who is unfortunately marginalized like taymor is a character who might have had a rich life and existence within scriptures beyond this. But unfortunately, it's relegated to this. So that's why I've cast lacy Shebir lacy sugar. Lacy should bear aka Gretchen wieners from being girls, kind of always in the shadow of people who are bigger and always being victimized. In a certain extent, I think very much in this story, we will see an extreme victimization in terms of absolute. Are we right talk by? Do you want to feel like it's a serious casting? I know that you've probably put in the time and the effort in the prayer to know if this is the right choice. I'm very excited to her UK facet for six weeks about this series about this, and I have arrived at a very a divinely inspired choice for this. I wanted someone who was capable competent, very good looking and also tragic in a sense, which is why I've cast heath ledger. Adam, how it feels right. It feels like potential wastes potential waste potato soon. Wow, that's good. And somebody who could have been a little angry like could have definitely been a little angry and just wish if a couple things have gone different, maybe would have gotten a little more. Maybe life would walk out in a different way for them. And one more sporting Hobie in this first chapter is John adad. He is described as the son of Shamiya, who was the brother of David, which that would make him a cousin, and his name means very wise, but it's translated in the NFL a very shrewd and in the SP where we often read art where we're reading from as very crafty. So look, I'll be your way more diplomatic. I won't be. This is a weasel guy, a weasel gentlemen. So this is tough, and I wanted to think of somebody who when you look at him, you're like, I know he scheming. I know he's up to something or he's helping someone be up to something. That's why I've cast the character of Bobby Budnick from salute your shorts that red headed mullet dude, who's like when you're talking to them, it's not to shoot the breeze. It's because you want drugs, you need drugs or you need like sink bombs or smoke bombs or something like that, right. It's not to be like, oh my gosh. How was your weekend? It can you? Can you take down this person for me ecstasy doing say I can. No, it was fine. Yeah. Okay. So before it gets scriptural about theme of sewed, this just anarchy, just utter anarchy. When you make bad decisions. Guess what? Bad decisions happen. Her people, her people, and basically everybody in the story gets hurt because of wanna blame it all on the bass Sheba equation. But it's hardly not best Sheba. It would be David right now best was fault, but she was great. She did a great job. She was not slain lemonade from lemons. She did David, David, David, use crude this up and like it's almost like when you know report you. So this is what he sowed. This terrible terrible. In our last episode, we did get David. That was very remorseful, and here's the beauty of who got is yes, you can be. You can lament your choices and gobble forgive you, but the consequences remain. You have to play those out. Yeah. So let's get into why don't you start with chapter thirteen seconds. Chapter thirteen. Give us give us a details on this pre pre especially terrible chapter in this terrible chapter. So now Absalom Davidson had a beautiful sister whose name was taymor and after a time Amnon, David son loved her and not like loved her, but like loved her. And Amazon was so tormented that he made himself. Ill because of his sister, Tamar for she was virgin, and it seemed impossible to Amnon to do anything to her because just to sidebar this, it's because Royal virgins, like the sun's probably didn't live in the palace like they were old enough. They lived on their own, but Moyal virgins. Girls, they got stay in the palace and they are tight, and they are monitored and they cannot interact with people without witnesses. So it would be very difficult for apps on just to run into her alone in the hall. And Amazon had a friend who name was John, the son of Shamiya, David's brother and John was a very crafty man, and he said to him, oh, son of the king. Why are you? So haggard morning after morning, will you not tell me and said to him, I loved Aimar my brother, absolute sister, your sister, dude. It's also your sister. You can say that that's fine. Verse five, John have said to him, lie down on your bed and pretend to be ill. And when you're father comes to see, you say to him that my sister Tate Markham and get me breads eat and prepare the food in my site that I may see an eat from her hand. So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill. And when the king came to him and onset of the king, please let my sister time Markham. I make a couple of cakes that I may eat from her hand. Then David sent home today, mar saying, go to your brother, Amnon, Taus prepare food for him. So tame our went to the brother Amnon house where he was lying down and she took dough and needed it and make takes inside and bake the cakes, and she took the pan and emptied it out before many refused to eat. 'em mom said, Cindy, everyone for me. So everyone went out from him and then an onset tame pre food into the chamber that I may eat from your hand and taymor took the cake. She had made and brought them into the chamber on Amnon, her brother. But when she brought them near him to eat, he took hold of her and said to her, come live with me, my sister, she answered him. No, my brother do not violate me for such a thing as done in Israel, do not. Do this outrage thing as for me, where could I carry my shame and ask for you? You would be as one of the outrageous fools in Israel. Now, therefore, please speak to the king for he will not withhold me from you, but he would not listen to her and being stronger than she, he violated her and lay with her well. So this is where we say he wasn't sick. That was definitely a fake out. Fake out. He was just he was sick with lust for his sister. This is a very weird movie on the hallmark channel. It's not good at all like it's horrible. And here's the thing. What she explained to him like in the midst of trying to defend, she gives him, she lays out like this. These are the four reasons why this is about idea, and basically you're going to be violating because the Torre did say, no, no, you can't marry. You can't. You can't live with your sister. You can't marry your sister. You can't do it. Now.
