"When you talk about the low Throat where does that come from. Well i just think it's It's it's the pain that you know from our family from my children and You know just just a lot of the tough times You know that we've that we've gone through and just on as you know the media it's it som- it is what it is everybody's gonna say whatever And i guess when you have a void and you don't have your voice out there. People can say whatever and that has been the case so And that's why me so when you get a chance to address the past year everything you've been through and not have your voice. What is the biggest thing that you can say to people about the past you because it seems like your tip toy around. What's bothering you. What gave you that lumping your throat. And i'm just curious for the people listening to understand what causes that. What makes it such a difficult year. Why do you get the lump in your throat. What is that on you. Well i mean for me it The thing that dan and i sitting side-by-side through this last year and kind of looking at each other and close to a year ago. You know he's looking at me. And how i'm handling things and vice versa I had a kind of a had a mamma bear instinct that just like a lightning bolt. That went through body. And you know. I think could very easily ran away and and been fine and and sailed away and i think a few people have even asked us that and being you know drinking pinochle autism. But that's not that's not who we are. That's not what. I wanna teach my kids and that is that is one thing that i'll tell you. gives me the strength to sit here today and to talk to you With conviction to know that You know we what we're doing right now and where we are is where we should be in the best place possible and it is. It's truly with love and passion for the nfl and wash football team when you heard some of these things that came out about your franchise very unflattering tonga very unflattering. What was your reaction to everything. Well i mean horrified. Needless to say horrifying and Tried to start reading it all because it just it got some became too much into ridiculous But where it puts me is is wanting to dig my heels and stronger and get off the bench. Standup get active and just go into action mode. And that's exactly what i've done. What's the last year been like. Well she said it's been very difficult. One of the most difficult years for dan their kids their families lives. I'm sure it has been She also said a couple of things that i'm going to be Constructively critical about. I did want to say this though. There was a couple of parts during this interview where you could tell That she was very protective of her children in particular all of whom are grown. She's got one her youngest son in college. The two daughters. I guess are older and out of college And she referred to being empty nesters at this point and i over the years have heard from you know teachers. And that i know and coaches that. I know and i've always heard across the board. How great the kids are The snyder kids And i've heard much more about the sun than i have the daughters over the years. Cooley loves the sun. But i had heard from so many people. Great kid great kids. So obviously you know. Parenting and being parents is a pretty top level priority for for most of us The priority for most of us So somebody or perhaps both of them have done it Pretty well according to most people She was feisty in that she did say you know as you heard they could have sailed away and they could have in. There would have been a parade health. Let's be honest. Had they sailed away and sold the team But she like her husband. You can tell. And i think it's one of the reasons he's gotten to the point where he's gotten to you know. They are relentlessly competitive people. And they're not quitters and they don't want to teach their kids To be quitters But anyway i can appreciate that and respect that. However with that said you know per usual there wasn't any acknowledgement. Any responsibility taken any accountability for what's happened over the last year when she refers to this being very difficult one of the most difficult years for their family. What about the forty two women That the post Had you know this. As i've many times in the past this this wasn't a one off. He said she said situation. Forty two women. The nfl with their statement said this was the culture that was created twenty years of this culture. You know we've heard him explain. Oh that was much in the past and he was distant and wasn't around the last ten years etcetera etcetera. We'll what the last ten years they're talking about anyway. It was when you were actually in charge but you know the uniform response over the years has been to basically Push the blame elsewhere. It's never been his fault it's never been. Therefore she referred to being were now one hundred percent owners were in a much stronger position to make each and every change. We need to make well. That's obviously a slight at the three minority owners. Fred smith bob rothman and dwight shar It doesn't matter whether or not you're one hundred percent owners now you've been majority. Owner is in majority voting rights holders forever. You could do whatever you wanted to do. They had no say in the organization. You know. Dan and family have been majority owners and majority voting rights if not one hundred percent voting rights since they purchased the franchise. You know that is another sort of default for the snyder's well. it wasn't us our minority shareholders. She took a shot at the media. She said the accusations are horrifying but she stopped reading about it because they became too ridiculous. Some of the allegations. Now i would say that. Maybe in give her the benefit of the doubt that she's being specific to the jeffrey epstein. Stuff that we now believe that. Dwight charen may even bruce allen were behind and you know they have every right to be incensed over that stuff. That was a smear campaign that was based on lies but the post stories and the allegations in with the league said in their whistle wrist slap statement..

"The coach of the football team is basically acknowledging that nobody comes to see them play. Yes which. I guess remarkable. I'm giving him credit for understanding. That i i give him credit for what he said. And i think it's it's accurate but still it's amazing given the the talk that we've heard here over the years that a football coach for washington. Football say yeah. Nobody's showing up. We got we gotta find a way to get them back in the span. Yeah you know. People like the new team president. He has nothing to do with the football operation. He's made that very clear to me He's got nothing to do. He has He asked he. He's got to build a business and i love this this description. That is losing resilient. I love that That's his mantra. Basically to build a business. That's losing resilient you may say how do you do that. Well the cowboys have done it. believe it or not the dolphins have done at the dolphins have one of the better business situations in the league. Even though they haven't won in a long time. There are lots of reasons for that. And i could go into him on another show. That stadium experience. It's fan friendliness of your stadium. It's it's investments in other things outside of football which we've heard jason right. You know sort of alluded to but they've got two guys who i think are smart and i also think tommy are likeable and that if they can win side by side with being a likable in their leadership positions especially in the football side. There you know he's going to get a hold of the people that he knows and recognizes left. Remember never wanted to admit that before even though they had an internal poll that told them how much the fan base hated the owner and hated the team president but There was one other thing. I wanted to go ahead and let me just point out that. You're you're right about a lot of that but the team president isn't gonna isn't going to Happy ear to fans if he keeps putting out. Pavlov like The snyder just let his managers Run things without interfering with them like he did A week ago. I mean that was absolutely horsh shit and he's gonna lose credibility if he keeps saying that stuff but he's gonna lose credibility with people who are paying attention to him. You know You you picked out out of the john crime story and you were right to do it. and again. I told you what i think he was trying to say. Which is dan's more the ideas guy in tanya's more of day to day operator but whatever For now look when the season starts. He's an insignificant figure for fans. He means nothing. He's a team president. He's not bruce. Allin team president. He's a business only. He's made that very clear that he has nothing to do with the results on the football field so he's not going to be making the paul for replaced from his boss note. He's not going to be doing that even though he probably he probably could do it. Better than bruce. I wanted to. I wanted to mention something that i think. I missed. last week. it was the forbes list of nfl values for teams And washington had grown Had had gone up since last year. They had fallen to eighth overall. They had the the slowest growth in valuation of any team In twenty twenty. And i talked a lot about that back then because i said this is an example of how the name being lost and a lot of other things for them. Obviously the the loss of fans and you know people in the stadium and i'm talking about pre pandemic it was during the pandemic but before they started to lose the money from fans The value of all these franchises are up aegis significantly because of because of The new tv deals there. It's an email. Yeah yeah it's it's up an average an average of Fourteen percent across the board washington was up to four point. Two billion in valuation A twenty percent increase for them which is really significant You know and and so it's even above the average the league. Well you know. It's the tv deals and the fact that they had such slow growth a year ago so that was a big part of it is well. Is they had such slow growth. A year ago that they they came up. You know more than everybody else anyway. What i wanted to get to this Number one is for for those of you said man snyder one big again. Well i mean they're referring to the out of the minority investors on evaluation of two point two billion dollars in the team's worth four point. Two billion understand this. The team is valued at four point. Two billion dollars right now. It's actually if they were to sell it. It's actually worth even more they would. They would get close to five billion if this thing were ever actually made available on four point two billions in estimation of their value. But you only realize that if you actually sell it and it's such a rare thing that an nfl team is sold the cowboys valuation is six point five billion dollars. They're number one. The patriots are five billion to the giants are three at four point five billion the rams irt four point eight billion at four and there's washington at four point two billion dollars but the reason and i. I tried to explain it at the time that fred smith and bob Rothman and dwight shar didn't get a four point. Two billion dollar valuation on their forty percent. Sale back to snyder which by the way snyder had to borrow from the league is tommy pointed out to make happen. is because it's a minority stake and a minority stake never gets majority value. Now the other part of this to be honest with you. As i'm pretty sure snyder's gonna end up selling back You know a thirty to forty percent stake to another group of minority investors. And i believe they will be minorities. I think the nfl's quid-pro-quo with waving the debt limit. Probably taking it easy on him with respect to the Beth wilkinson investigation and then loaning him money To out his previous investors is to take on new investors. That i think will be a push for a diverse minority ownership group. I bet you that happens within the next year. But he i bring this up because the lead was these valuations but underneath the lead was a very interesting thing they if you went through this forbes a story you found out how much revenue these teams generated in twenty twenty now. Remember twenty twenty. They didn't have gate receipts so revenues. We're going to be down for the teams that didn't allow fans like the cowboys allowed fans. But listen to the difference in revenue between the cowboys. And the rest of the.

"Minority owners coming in at some point, but he is the he is the sole owner after buying back the minority shares from Dwight Schar, Fred Smith and Bob Rothman. And what was a very contentious uh, I think And this is that I don't know if it's been publicly put out like this, But I think it was a takeover attempt by the minority owners who were looking for a greater evaluation on on their sale of their minority piece, and all of this negativity started to pop up. In the Washington Post started to pop up and and social media. These accusations were thrown out there, all of which, incidentally, Dan Snyder has claimed responsibility for even though he was not directly implicated in any of those things. Um, And the news today is twofold. One that Daniel Snyder is it was fined $10 million. At least the Washington football team was fined $10 million. The clarity on that is that $10 million will go to charities, which which Tania, his wife and Dan will choose. So it's a $10 million fine, but it'll all go to an important cause. The other thing. That I think is not insignificant in this is that Dang Dwight Schar, who was one of those minority owners, and a lot of people believed was involved in the smear campaign on on Daniel Snyder has been banned for life. "Well, rocket can for those who care The European Championships. At least one side of the bracket is closed off as Spain and Italy will be heading to the semifinals. Some kid guy On Italy, for whatever reason is running around the pitch without any pants on. He's just in his underwear. I don't actually understand the reasoning behind that, but whatever it is what it is, I guess Italians are known for their I don't know their libidos so he can run around his underwear ever he wants do Spain and Italy on this, uh, this days, the quarterfinal match are moving forward. We have a good hour lined up for you. We're going to talk here in a second about the Washington football team. More specifically Daniel Snyder. I think there's some misperceptions about what was handed down from Commissioner Goodell. We also we're going to talk to Jim Duquette. Former MLB general manager, Major League Baseball network radio host on some of the things that have been going on over the last couple days, including You know what this means for the Dodgers with Trevor this Trevor Bauer allegation and again, we just hit that and inbounds and out of bounds in our last segment. It is a seven day administrative leave that he has been put on. But Major league Baseball needs to get this one. This one, right? Okay. Dan Snyder, who is the owner. Now the majority. I think soul there might be some minority owners coming in at some point, but he is the he is the sole owner after buying back the minority shares from Dwight Schar, Fred Smith and Bob Rothman. From the NFL. So, uh, while we while we want to vilified, um some of the things that went on inside the Washington organization, the the campaign It was put out to embarrass and try to force. Mr Snyder to Snell also came to light and again, I'll read it, I'll say it again. Dwight Schar, who was a minority owner, has been banned for life from the National Football League. Take that of what you will. Um, but that's not the story. So a lot of people there's some misconceptions out there. And I've I've gotten this from some inside in some league sources. The perceptions are that Daniel Snyder was suspended, uh, and that he needs to be reinstated by Roger Goodell before he is allowed to come back into the league. And that's why he handed over his, uh, the the daily running of the Washington football team to his wife, Tanya. Reality is is that he brought his wife, Tanya, and who has been involved in a lot of important initiatives over her career, including the think pink campaign. We all remember that the think pink campaign she has been brought in to help run so she is now the co CEO. Of the Washington football team. Dan has not stepped away. He hasn't been suspended. He will be at games. He will be at the sideline. He will be doing a lot of different things and marketing for the Washington football team. But Tanya has taken over the day to day operations, and I think that's a positive move for this Washington football team. But at the end of the day, the most important move For this Washington football team is that they move past this negativity over the since they they've been experiencing the last couple of years. And while the things that we have heard Have been reprehensible. Um, uh, We don't know. Um, you know the true story or the inside story, but what we do know as, uh Daniel Snyder was never directly implicated in any of these miss misdeeds by some of the folks on air on air talent. I forget his name now, but he he resigned. The voice of the Washington football team, he resigned. Bruce Allen, who was the president has has been now gone for three or four years. He's also been implicated in a lot of these this misdeeds and misdoings that have been going on. He was the day to day operations manager of the Washington football team. And so I've started to read a lot about what the impact is or what the perception is of this this this fine Bye bye. Roger Goodell on the Washington football team. And what I have consistently heard is that Daniel Snyder got off easy that this was just a slap on the wrist and the NFL got it wrong. But I think a lot of that perception national perception on what this Washington football team has been going through. Is because of the the incorrect perceptions of what Daniel Snyder actually did now. I don't know, Dan. I know people who do know Dan and I've talked to some insiders on this who have given a different perspective and colored this a different way than it's been put out there, But I think that the only crime of the biggest crime That that Daniel Snyder committed was the crime of being absent. He wasn't there enough. He wasn't around enough to to see be a part of get this culture right to to make things that have now started to, uh, you know, become come to light. You know, get a hold on them before they became as big an issue as they were. Um, I know for a fact that Bruce Allen, who was the president? Testified Falsely that he was not the source of information. Uh, part of the smear campaign when in fact, there are emails, and there's there's a There's a paper trail that proves that he was and so there there's this is a This is like a soap opera. This whole Washington football drama, Whether it was the off the field things, or, um, you know some of the allegations against Daniel Snyder. The the the fact that you know, he got suspended when he actually wasn't suspended. And how was this fine big enough. Or was it important enough, Or was it just a slap on the wrist? I mean, this really has been Soap opera for this Washington football team, and it's actually kind of amazing that they've been able to function you know, in spite of it, and so I think what this now.

"There's is the dots there's the dot they're too so this was obviously more. Obviously this was this could have been set up by him with the journal for the purposes of having a big story which was by the way breaking the news that tonya snyder was going to be the co. ceo of the organization. The problem was the rest of the story. And that leads me to this. And that was the football team statement with. The snyder quotes in it Because once again it's It's they it's it's just terrible terrible strategy in my opinion because it starts off with a statement from dan snyder. Actually the whole thing is a statement from dan snyder quote. I've learned a lot in the past few months about how my club operated. He apparently is just learned. Tommy in the past few months about his coma but house clubs operated and the kind of workplace that we had it is now clear that the culture was not what it should be. But i did not realize the extent of the problems or my role in allowing the culture that culture to develop in continue. I know that as the owner. I am ultimately responsible for the workplace. I have said that. And i say it again. You know this is just a continuation of. I wasn't really aware of it. 'cause it wasn't my fault i wasn't involved now i am i am the owner and ultimately it is my responsibility but when i was away during all those years and not you know Involved as much as i should have those people bruce allen and by the way the the three minority owners. Fred smith in bob rothman and dwight dr. They just ruined the culture. Two things on that one. Can they not do the math or understand that we can do the math. Most of these allegations are from ten plus years ago so ten plus years ago is when he admittedly was much more involved than he has been over the last ten years. Now trust me. The bullying the demeaning. The you know whatever was going on there were still a lot of dumb arrogant people in that organization and it it would not surprise me if a lot of this stuff was continuing to go on but in terms of those forty two women. Most of them are from our about allegations from ten plus years ago when he was involved. Hello you dumb ass and your pr department. Can't you figure out that if he hasn't been involved recently but the allegations were from when he was involved then he should have known. I don't get that the other thing too to suggest as you did the other day that he hasn't been involved. Look i do know for a fact based on multiple sources that he hasn't been in the building and he's been more away from the day to day over the last seven eight nine ten years than he was in the first ten years. But we've already pointed out dwayne haskins. Rg three You know. There's the louis riddick story remember with albert hanes worth now. That was two thousand nine. Before bruce or two thousand eight whatever it was when they went around the room and said you know thirteen people basically said no one albert hanes worth and dan said too bad. We're doing albert handsworth You know how about all of the shots of him at practice. In those you know over size michigan fab five shorts that he would have on. You know the redskins Logo all over it but you know the things that basically came down below his knees you know with the you know the three sizes over you know a size shirts that he had on standing there looking like a dope watching the practice is always you know. A- games this guy was less involved but he was still way involved every single road trip gain. They had big parties the night before that he was a big part of. So i wanna hear any of this stuff about you. Know him being so detached he was less involved when bruce came in and might might came in in the football decisions day to day but he was involved in some big ones that went badly twain haskins the relationship with our g three it's cetera but again if most of these accusations that were investigated and were written about and have been written about were from the period of time when he was very involved. I don't know why they think we can't do the math on that. Whatever they don't care if if you think they're stupid they really the nfl as is at a level of arrogance that is really unmatched In in professional sports right now I mean last year they brought in twelve billion dollars in revenue with hardly anybody.

"The nfl pretty aggressive a re t- what they wrote spending premium draft picks in the same position group year after year should lead to success. Doesn't always work out that way but it certainly has for washington's d. Line chase young in montana. Sweat both graded out as top. Twelve edge defenders in the nfl. Last season allen was one of the league's best interior pass rushers pro football focus in twenty twenty doron. Pain remains a steady presence against the run inside those four plus rotational pieces. Such as mad. Itis and tim settle have developed arguably the league's best defensive. Line it's funny about ionitsis. There are some. I will tell you there are some that would will we out there. That would say. He's our best defensive lineman when healthy biggest weakness. The decision to release morgan. Moses opens up a potential weak spot on what appeared to be a solid offensive line. Cornelius lucas and second round pick sam cosmi or among the top options to fill that vacancy at right tackle. Yeah charles leno's the left tackle. Just everybody understand that. And i think caused me. He's got a really good chance to be the starting right. Tackle the biggest weakness offensive line. I i actually think. They're bigger questions in the secondary x. Factor of course they write is ryan fitzpatrick and then they get into you. Know the fact that he's had a couple of really good Years here. In his last two twelve best roster you know defensively fifth best defensive top five I didn't mean fifth best. I'd say top five defensive roster as a total roster twelfth. I would probably had it a few notches lower but not a lot lower It's sorta hard to think that seattle you know that their rosters worse than washington's in the is a pro football focus. Same with tennessee. A team that a lot of people think has a chance to get to the afc championship game again. I like india lot. I liked the roster. I like their coaching staff. Obviously carson wentz and frank reich together Are going to be interesting if they can. Sort of create the magic. They didn't philadelphia. I think indy's going to be really good this year. Okay if you're wondering about the you know co-ceo ceo. Tonya snyder story. We pretty much did that on the show yesterday. I will just tell you that. I spent more time. Sort of reading through that journal. Article and tommy nailed it. It's a puff piece man at as it's a puff piece or a very poorly researched piece or you know puff piece slash ground rules and the bottom line is snyder trying to convince people that he wasn't he wasn't as involved and that's the reason for the organization's culture is ridiculous. Him going a step further to say that now that the limited partners are gone That's a big step forward. As if any of us ever thought that fred smith was part of the problem or that. Bob rothman are dwight. Shar were part of the problem. Come on man. I mean deal with reality near. You can't sell that one to anybody. That's been paying attention a kerr. Apparently though the writer of the story either wasn't paying attention or was but couldn't follow up on some of that stuff all right I want to get to this interview and share this interview with you with dan. Grunfeld ernie grunfeld son. I enjoyed it. I think you will too. That's next after this word from one of our sponsors. Are you dreaming about the vacation that you wanted to take in. "He had gone a step further. And said i've been very reclusive from media because he has been. We just don't hear from dan snyder. This this story right now probably has more. Dan snyder quotes in it than anything. We've had in a long period of time long period of time. Well now now. We know what it takes to get that kind of access. Don't we yes we do. But we've heard this before tommy. We've heard this before that they are. They're only willing to do this if there are sort of parameters around it if there's some level of control but the idea this is where again a just over the years like those of us at the radio station and other media people like us have had these conversations were if they would only involve us instead of the some of the the dummies. They've had in helping them. Navigate this from a pr standpoint. They'd be much better off like this is terrible advice to have dan go out there and try to bullshit people into the reason. Our culture went bad is because i removed myself now. I have to insert myself again. I mean nobody wants to hear that he's going to be involved and nobody believes that he wasn't involved. We've already given you two or three prime examples of reported on solidly reported on. He made decisions that damage the franchise. He's the problem he's never looked in the mirror and acknowledged it's him. It's not all of these other people which leads to this This organization since last july in that very first washington post story has become tommy. I i don't know this definitively. Like i've got the data to support it very much observational. It's become the most progressive organization in the nfl in its hiring. It's hired can't that's fair anecdotally. I think you're right anecdotally and you were. You talked about that early on in the process. The road that they were they were going down. Yes i i had this sense early on that they were going to really try to become a very diverse organization to sort of counter by the way. I'm not suggesting that any of these hires weren't based on resume too but come on. We're living in a world in which we can make observations and not you know i can't stand the people that say you know stop being so observational will life's boring if you're not observing We we can see that. Many women and many minorities have been hired to key positions in the organization. Much more so than before much more so anecdotally than than other nfl teams. I think that this was always going to be pushed coming off the washington post stories And i also really believe that the quid pro quo on lowering or waving the debt limit. Then loaning him money as you reported. I think before anybody else. Cho- by out fred smith bob rothman and dwight shar. I believe that the the agreement here is that there will be a thirty to forty percent. Minority owner within the next year or so made up of minorities and the league wants more diversification in its more diversity in its ownership and that dan's going to provide it and the reason he's going to provide it is the trouble the organization's gotten into and oh by the way if you don't want us to go down the path of trying to remove you. That's what i think is coming next by the way just to be clear. I am not in any way suggesting that. The hiring of ron rivera and jason right and martin mayhew and julie donaldson and et cetera et cetera. Cfo that these aren't all people totally qualified for the jobs. I'm just saying that clearly. There's been an emphasis since last july to hire a more diverse executive team. Well let's face it his track record up until except for a brief moment where he hired the lav amina team his track record pretty much for the most part has hiring people who aren't qualified to two jobs right so this was. This was a breath of fresh air. At least you know yeah no. That's that's a really good point And by the way you know the truth is over the years you know. They haven't been They it's not that they haven't been a progressive organization in their hiring. It's just increased exponentially over the last year Let me ask you one once. They got the story in front. You could you scroll down to the bottom of it if you could because there's a reference there that is still ringing in my head. But i thought was problematic about buying out. The limited partners hold on tanya is the most important figure in the organization has only become more true over the last eighteen months as our involvement is deepened. It publicly many not for. It's really last two paragraphs. I think the whole story. Yeah i don't see anything about the ownership. I don't know what your mom okay because there's.

"I'm not a believer in dan snyder. And i'm a big believer in all of these things especially at the perfect in professional sports and in business it starts at the top and they have they have. They have bad at the top They they have arrogance at the top. They have not very bright at the top And they've got you know totally self It consumed At the top. And i just don't know that that will ultimately workout like you. I'm intrigued like because. I liked rivera when the higher was made. I thought being i remember you being really really with it from the very start and We're you remember. Did you like the higher not i was. I was kind of lukewarm on it. I mean just. I felt like it wasn't sexy. But you know i guess i knew and in hindsight it's definitely true that the sexiest probably not they needed anyway. i i was. I was fine with it. Wasn't doing cartwheels. And i think he's probably exceeded my expectations in his first year. Yeah it's still very early though. I'm the aren't even primary returns That are coming in real quickly before we get to more football oriented stuff. What do you think is going on. I had lists clark on the show this morning on the radio show and i would urge everybody to listen to that interview. Liz was tweet. I had her on really to talk about the naomi osaka. I'm situation lives has been a longtime tennis reporter But we ended up talking about. You know what's going on with the washington football team And she relates some stuff that i think you know i i've shared on the podcast before and talked with tommy about before That there some legal wrangling right now with the team. Trying to prevent some of the information that may be in the wilkinson report from Actually coming out What are you hearing. And what do you think are. Where do you think this is going. Yeah i i don't know i wish i had a. I had a really good nuggets there. I knew i mean. Take this for what it's worth in. Many people will be skeptical but Almost two years ago. An anonymous person on twitter Engaged me privately and Told me that there was an incident. and there had been a lawsuit and settlement and He he forecast exactly what we've heard about this thing on the airplane coming back from the concert and he told me who it was and i mean i actually know the person's name which of course i would not divulge the having heard that and not really saying much about it. I've i've known. Or at least i still feel confident that there is. There have been things that have happened. In the past there's information to potentially be learned by someone in beth wilkinson position that could really really actually be illegitimate bombshell and changed the game and I think the question is will she find it. Will she be allowed to access it And i don't know the answer to that. I mean i kind of i mean as badly as anyone. I want dan snyder to no longer be the owner. I don't necessarily wish ill on the man. But i'd love for there to be a reason for him to get on but i don't know if it's gonna come out. I have this kind of like nagging. Worry that wilkinson report is either going to be dud or just be kind of dismissed And that not a ton of gonna come of it. But that's just what do you think that the league waving the debt limit allowing him to buy out his minority shareholders. Fred smith bob rothman. Dwight shar was An was was a sort of an endorsement of him continuing as the owner For moving forward. I i think so too but i i do one expert on those things. But that's how it struck. I guess but. Do you believe that the quid pro quo on that was to bring in new minority. Investors in actual minorities as investors as minority shareholders would have to think that as tenuous as his grip on the team was or at least appeared to be publicly given how bad they've been in. Now how much controversy follows him that there would there. You know that the league would would have been holding some leverage against him and to do him what looked like such a big favor in wave facilitating. Help saying you know. It's sure seems like there should be some tit for tat. I don't know what it is. I don't know if it's you gotta you gotta take on whichever minority owner we say or the has to be a certain type of person. It feels like he probably does the league something for that to have you know gone as apparently smoothly as it did. But i'm not sure what so. You tweeted out last week. Nothing imminent these things. Take months and sometimes breakdown but i have it. On good authority that jay z's actively divesting assets to position himself for purchase of stake in washington football team So do you believe the jay z's going to be a minority shareholder in the team. Yeah i believe that that. I still believe in what i what i tweeted there. I mean i believe that. It's at least a high possibility or that he's trying and i will. I will say this for context The person who told me that is like not not a close friend or acquaintance of mine nor of jay z's but it's it is a financial type person who is you know associated with somebody who's involved in some of that action reference and that person told me Almost two years ago also that the team that a at i'm trying to remember how he phrased to time because frankly i didn't believe it i didn't go but he said it's team was for sale. He said that the types of bankers who handle sales of teams have been engaged on the redskins and things are happening. And you know i. I i honestly. He thought this person's off at the time that it meant. Dan was selling. And i. that's what he was communicating to me. And i didn't believe it in. I never really said anything about it. But what he what he knew or almost new was that the it was it was the shar group was minority owners. At the time there was on the table and that was really real and really happening and that was not being discussed at the time when this person told me that that was moving and then out of the blue unsolicited is the same guy last week said hey remember me. Here's what's going on. I know that. Jay z is angling for this and so i'm pretty confident that that's that's real. I mean i don. I know there's stuff with how the nets and then he had to get a small part of the nets. I guess and had to get out because of roc nation. I can't answer the the problem with with those. I i think he can't have those conflicts of interests. I guess and i don i i just. I don't know how to what to say about that. But i'm i'm pretty sure that this is at least a very real possibility. Yeah by the way you just mentioned something. And i think. I've mentioned this before but for those that are wondering the the the fractured relationship between snyder and his minority share shareholders happened long before jordan lloyd The george floyd incident minneapolis. It happened long before the pressure to change the name. fred. Smith didn't want any part of dan snyder for a long period of time The other two didn't much care for him either and in. That would be the one thing in. I've known that rock nations been working with the team for a while now and discussed it over a year ago. I just would. I just can't imagine somebody of jay z stature. No matter how badly people want to get into the nfl that he would get into a team with dan. Snyder with no voting stock. That is that that would be. Yeah i totally get that you know what like..

"Jason fits in betray on Sirius Six Channel Lady also were presented by progressive insurance it with my goal. My goal a junior, and we've had a lot of conversation and trying to get a lot of perspective is many different perspectives as possible right now on the decision by the Washington football team to change their name and logo, so to do that, we've given some of our perspective, but guys We've also talked to some guests that have a lot of experience with the organization. Let's do that again by heading over to the shell Pennzoil Performance Sign Or we're joined by Vinnie surround a former Washington executive couple of different stints with this Washington football team. So then he ate. We appreciate your time. Thank you so much for joining us. But give us a little perspective. Since this is such an old debate on when you were in the building what the debate about the team name was like a TTE the time. There was never a debate. It was never changing. It was. It was the name of the team. Dan Snyder's dad. Jerry was a historian and loved and read every book about the history of the Redskins and followed it. And you know, Dan grew up Redskin fan, So I think it was out of the loyalty to his dad and growing up that he loved The Redskins football team, you know, and the name of the team. So I didn't think it would ever change. But now he had to Jake. He was backed into a corner financially. That he had to do it. And when, when the all the George Floyd and all that stuff occurred, then it was done. You know, it wasn't about that They were going to fight it anymore. It was about we're going to go into discussions. You know? I mean, once that statement came on, I knew it was changing. Many Toronto joining us again. He got went to Washington 99 01 was gone for a year came back and 02 through. 09 So in the time you were there, how much push was there ever or talk about the name and the possibility of changing it in the time you were there? Zero never was never brought up. Never discussed. You know, I mean, you know, sometimes I remember sitting in Dan's office with his dad. Dad would be reading books and, you know, just talked about how much he loved to read the name change was Mike never never talked about and never really discussed. It never was a conversation when I was there. Just in general behind the scenes. What is working for Dan Snyder? Like Uh, well, it's it's Good. And, you know, I mean, Dan was Great to meet, you know, I mean, he was great to me Great to my family. It was. It was interesting. Let me just say, you know, I mean, there was good days There was bad days, and here's how it was like working for me. Okay, I'll tell you a story. We're on vacation at his Aspen house, You know, and he's out in the living room or whatever. And I'm You know, just waking up in the bedroom. He calls me on my phone. You I said I'm in a bedroom. Come on out here. I need to talk to you. You know? I mean, that's kind of your on call. 24 7 Let me just say that. We're talking about the surrounding former Washington executive getting a little perspective. He's joins us on the shell pencil performance. And so with his Muchas you know about Dan Snyder and understanding to the point that you've made that this was never going to be a conversation that he wanted to have. He's been backed into 1/4 made this change. So how will dance neither react moving forward? I think he'll be fine. I think here's the thing. I think it'll be They retired the name. The name is not gone. There will still be the history. You know of Doug Williams. Joe Gibbs Stare agree. You know all the great things that have gone on in the history of the Washington Redskins football team will still be there. But it'll be history and it will be a new name. And a new beginning, So that kind of look at it as a new beginning for Dan and you know, hopefully, a new beginning is a good beginning, And I think Ron Rivera will help him through that. A CZ far you know, we've talked to a number of former players and they said Vinnie that they had talked about that when they got to the organization. It was somewhat disgusting. For the most part. They're like, Hey, we're football players. That we play, so I know you said Dan, This was never a discussion. Did you ever have a discussion with the players about this at all? I don't ever remember a conversation with a player. You know about it, Mikey. I don't ever remember a player bringing up the conversation you know about about the name Do you think this is the right move? Do you think he should have done it? I I think you know. For where we're at in society and everything. I think it was an absolute that needed to be done. And I think he realized that I mean, you know his business partners, you know, Dwight, Bob Rothman and Fred Smith. I mean, Yeah, they tried toe push upon him is, you know recently, so I think it was something that needed to be done. And Mike Wise was, you know, pushing it for a long time. You know what? The Washington Post And you know, it finally got done needed to be done. And I think you know, in five years when Dan think back about it, you know, I think he'll probably say why did I wait so long? How much is the prospect of a stadium being back in D C. Had to do with all this. How much? How long has that been a goal for Dan Snyder? Since we've heard that some of the pressure surrounding that politically might have also played a role in this Ever since Jerry built his day since the first time we flew down, We're playing the Cowboys, and we flew down and had dinner in Jerry's box like on a Friday night, and we were playing on Sunday so It was, uh, it was like made, Dan might have been his sister and the Jones, his family and everything. In Jerry's private box. We had dinner in a box and everything, and Jerry gave us a tour of the stadium, and he's over there, pushing the button open in the roof and clothes in the roof. You know, And ever since then I've built I'm gonna have one bigger and better and trust me when I say it is. Dan will have one. Bigger and better and I said This is my show like a couple weeks ago, Mike that here use it as a chip to be able to get that land where our K wass, you know, to change the name. I wouldn't bet that it's somewhere involved in there that the name change is also, you know, helping him get the piece of property that he really probably wants. Benny. We appreciate your expertise, my friend. Thanks so much for joining us Stay safe. And thanks for the insight. You got it, guys. And you know what? Hopefully we have a Notre Dame season going. There you go. Big, strong fingers crossed that one. I hope there's a college season as well. Interesting take up because we've heard from players..

"To talk to our next guest is a former general manager of the Washington Redskins. He is currently midday host on 10572 Fan in Baltimore. Vinnie Cerrato. Good enough to give us a couple of minutes. Insight. How you been? I'm doing good. Jodie just got off of Ah, vacation. We're actually up in Lake George up in New York. For a week and it was awesome. Really now staying outdoors Hotel. What did that house We go with my Wife, two sisters and their families. And we had 14 people, and we had a huge house and a nice pontoon boat. Everything. We're right on the lake. It was great. Very nice. Now. Masks of plenty are all of these family members trusting each other. Yeah, Everybody trust each other. When we go out, there's math in the house. There's no Mass. Okay, good one last, Ah, Kobe, But we'll know several because the next ones will talk about how the National Football League is going to deal with it. How is this affected that young, aspiring up? Incoming hockey player of yours? Well, Jodie's, um, actually Thursday this coming Thursday. He and I are flying to Chicago to play in a tournament, Social Chicago just opened last week. And their plan tournament next weekend, so and then. He's been playing a couple weekends in Pittsburgh, and he's been skating almost every day. Jodi so and he's going to move to. Um, he played for Philadelphia Hockey Club for the last five years, and now he's moving to Detroit. I'm going to play for honey baked this year, Okay? And ah, When is he draft eligible? At 18. So in AA three years strong on what you got three years to go. Okay, Well, I'm sorry that he's leaving Philadelphia, but I hope he does really well. In Detroit. Alright, let's get to the football stuff. Your ex squad Thie Washington Football Club is, according to pro football talk just within the hour or two, said it is all but a certainty that the Redskins are going to change their name. Now going back to even your time Daniel Snyder, which feeling some pressure about the name cute. It's been gone going for decade, and he's been able to evade it. Apparently, that is no longer the case, and something could happen as early as the next. Couple of days. Why Too much pressure, Jody, you know, with all the stuff That has gone on. You know what? The Kobe 19 and with the floy, you know, murder and stuff. There was just too much pressure and he couldn't. There's no way that he could. Get out of this one. I think Dan knew that he couldn't get on this one that you know, and from what I hear, it's going to be the Warriors. That's what I That's what I'm And I think, Jodie. I said this on my show. You know when I was doing it last week, Bob and he asked me about it, I said Is that I think Dan will try to use that as a chip. So he can get the property that he wants to build the stadium in D. C. And we've heard that you know that. What the People in D C have said that if he changed the name they would more likely, you know, give him that property to build the stadium that he wants to build, and it will be when he builds one. It'll be better than Jerry. Trust me on that one. You know, it's all he ever talked about with the bigger and better than Jerry. Okay. I do have Ah, question about that. But before so about the new stadium, um hey, has resisted as we've said, for decades understood pressure built up sponsors threatening to pull dollars out. For the various reasons he's decided now has to be the time. Do you think he's kicked? Do you think he was accepting of it? Is this kicking and screaming or just an inevitability Did he couldn't get around? I'm guessing that it was. He knew it was a no win, he could not win. You know, and he would have lost Too much money and and Jody. There's one thing that we know about the NFL. Whenever there's a question, it's always about the money. You know, everything always goes back to. It's about the money. So when it becomes about the money when you know FedEx and Pepsi and you know Nike and everybody's pulling their money You can't win. You can't win that battle and Your franchise is worth what? 3.4 billion. You know if if he wants to fight it and all that is franchise going to be worth, you know. 1.5 1,000,000,000 or whatever, so I think he he knew. And it sounds like that. You know Dwight charm, Bob Rothman and Fred Smith. His minority partners had been trying, you know, to get him to change and you know from reading and everything. Jody that he's been working with the league. So I think that they've known or they told him that, you know you're not gonna win this one. So I think he's come to that realization. And I think heaven Ron Rivera is probably a good thing for him. You know, and Ron will help him through the process. Former watching the GM turned talk show host in Baltimore on 1057 Offend these days, many cerrado here with us on TBS portrayal, Um FedEx Field. Eh? How would you describe if you're right that this is only going to lead to and I know even if they agreed to it tomorrow would be seven several years down the road before it ever opened up. But What would you describe the tenure of FedEx Field as Jody that that stadium was put up so quickly, you know, and Dan didn't do it because of Dan would have built that it would have been spectacular. But it was put up, you know? Rather quickly, you know by the cooks And the parking and you were there on the You've been there the park. It was horrendous. It was terrible. Arab army. Jody, How about we had one preseason game on a Friday. One. Brad Johnson was our quarterback, and you know the game. I'm guessing the game kicked off, You know, like 7 30 He left his house like a three And he got there like right before kickoff because of the traffic. You know, I mean, during the season, getting in and out of that stadium is miserable, and everybody knows it. That's what they're already laying plans for a new stadium because by age, it shouldn't be aged out by the fact that it's not good, and they can't fill the seats and the thing that I remembered most. I went down with a friend just to sit in the stands, not pressed pants or anything else, and he had God awful seats, but he got them for free. So I didn't say I was just going to drink beers with him more than anything else. That upper deck is on such an incline. I had about 21 rose up. I was out of breath. It was ridiculous the way they built that stadium. So go that's like that. Just like the white. I mean, I've been to the White Sox game and you said in the upper deck there. You think you're gonna pass out because you're looking like right on. I think you know. Oh, yeah. And I I agree with that. But when Dan builds a new one, and it's happened, it's gonna happen, You know, And I'm getting right where The old stadium, Wass. And he wants to have a Super Bowl there, and that's stadium. That stadium is going to be spectacular. Okay, we'll keep an eye out for that one venues around. Oh, he was on CBS portrayal. Cem. In time NFL stuff..

Hey, so we're just over four months until his Manhattan sex assault trial begins right, Harvey Weinstein land is on the verge of losing his very successful, very effective lawyer. He is apparently at odds with Benjamin Bronfman who's done a good job for him, so far, but apparently Harvey has reached out to other lawyers to bring onto his team and Brockman is not happy about that. I don't know Harvey. If I were you I would not want to go into that courtroom without Brockman on my side job. Right. Absolutely. He's got a lot of the stuff thrown out already. A lot of stuff has come out about women who claimed that Harvey sexually went after them. But apparently they had consensual relationships with them text messages. Brompton was unhappy that Harvey was sending off emails to people during the course of some of these negotiations and whining about things, and I think Harvey must be a bone of China shop.
