"Soccer. No, I know. So you could bet tie no bet, right? So if it ends in a tie, you just push. But then you're betting USA minus one 55 or wells plus one 20. So you could do like your bet USA, right? 56 to score at any time plus 4.99. That seems like a bad of all time. By the way, did you hear, I don't know why he's on my TV, but Jason Garrett says pull a stick. He says, get The Rock to pull a check. I was like, you Garrett said that? You get anything right. Is there any single thing you can get right on television? That he clapped. Get off my TV. Play check. Oh, my God. It's the best. I've had a lot of people comment about the 8 second. I love it before the halftime. Yeah, you got me into it. Archie laughed my son. I was like, oh, you have no idea. Simmons has been on this for like a month. It's so great. Coming up. The other thing I love, and this is, you know how people make these weird YouTube clips. NBC, when they do those graphics that somebody spent three days on, where it's like all the people Justin Herbert touched down to and his career, but it's like set in Disneyland and it's different rides and you know somebody spent all this time in this graphic and then they have to spend the extra ten seconds on it because somebody spent two days on it. I would just love to see a YouTube clip of like the worst ten of those. Because there was one they had last week and I can't remember it was, but it was three receivers and they had full batteries next to them and it was like, but then when they get hurt and then the batteries went down like your iPhone. I was like, oh, the battery one. Good one, bob. People are dumb. They need explosive things exploding on their screen. That should be a Twitter feed of Twitter can survive this next couple of weeks. Somebody needs to have a Twitter feed of all these bizarre over the top graphic things. All right, 'cause what do you got to plug? There it is against the odds, extra points. Yeah, it's covered in glories. Our soccer podcast, Megan fundus sports lemon pepper parliament minus. So we got them all, the extra points podcast network. Check them all out. Like you said, there is a ton. So this is the best week. This is the best weekend. It really is. In Thanksgiving on top of everything else. No one's say April or march or anything. Well, we missed you at dinner last night. The big revelation was Dixon has written off my August and said he's dead to him. I know, I heard that on the phone. He's gonna hear this, by the way. But he said he said he's dead. There's no chance to make up it's over. It's a wrap. It's done. I

"Coach from Traverse City tourism. Trevor, I just wish we could do this show every week from here, because you look at this, we have wine, we have cherries. We have pie. We have cherry wahlburger, hamburger, and now we even get to talk about the Great Lakes equestrian festival and all of the Traverse City horse shows. Man, it's been a great day. Yeah, and I would be happy to host every one of your shows and see Tony over there on the board. He's like, sure, we can do that every week. That sounds great, man. Good idea. Well, what are we going to talk about next? Well, we're talking about horses. We're talking about jumping. We're talking about an amazing venue in northern Michigan, which kind of is under the radar. I don't think a lot of people understand or know what's going on here, but once you see it, it is magical. So we've got Tory billis here from the Traverse City horse shows and Great Lakes equestrian festival who's going to tell us more about all this magic. She's a commentator for it. She is a PR mastermind, making sure everybody knows and sees what's going on, but no one better to tell the story than Tori. So Tori enlighten us on what's happening out at Flint fields and Travis city, Michigan. Well, I'm going to try. I'm used to kind of speaking about this score. I've known it my entire life. So I'm going to try to break it down a little more simply so that people can understand and want to come visit. I'm glad you are because I mentioned to you that I was there last year with the under the radar guys, Tom Dalton and Jim Edelman, and we were recording some segments for pure Michigan websites. And so we were there. And I have to tell you, I had no idea what I was going to see. I was so impressed, but I don't know if I can really describe it very well what I saw. So tell us, we're at Flint fields, which is just off of 72 kind of yeast. It's right by the grand traverse bob. People know that as a market right now. There you go. Yeah, so I'll tell you you arrive there. And you start walking around. And I don't know, I just felt like I was somewhere out east at some fancy horse event of some sort. But I'm here in Traverse City at some fancy horse event. So tell us about it. I mean, it couldn't be more beautiful, such a perfect picturesque setting for a hundred jumper competition where underway with the Great Lakes equestrian festival. It's 6 weeks long in total. We've seen two weeks already. And just, I mean, competition is really just heating up. We had an entire spring series prior to this, and the fall is going to bring even bigger competition. So so much to do. The sport, in particular, it's hunter jumper competition, which are actually two different disciplines. You have your hunters, which take place on one side of the property. And that's more if you think about it kind of in terms of skating. So figure skating is going to be your hunters. It's kind of a beauty pageant. You know, it's beautiful horses jumping over courses with no sense of urgency just looking as beautiful as they can. It's really nice to watch, very relaxing. And then you have your show jumping, which takes place in the international arena and several of the others. And that's a little bit more of your speed skating. So your objective and that is to jump all the fences, not knock any of them over up to meter 55 meters 60, which is probably around 5 and a half feet. So they get really big. And you have to jump them as fast as possible without knocking any of them over. And I mean, it makes for a really thrilling competition. We have, I just couldn't believe it. So I think I went to the show jumping competition is what I saw. And there were, of course, this was during the pandemic time. So there weren't any audience people there except for just a few of us, just checking it out. And there's like a big area where people can sit kind of in a bowl area. So you can look down on the horse jumpers themselves. And that setting itself is really, really comfortable and just kind of cool to see. And then you get to watch these competitors. Where do these horses come from? Where do these teams come from? These horses come from all over the world. It's actually an international competition. The CSI international show jumping and it gets all the way up to the 5 star level, which is the highest in international show jumping. We had actually 6 Olympians from Tokyo come last year. And I think we'll see a bit of a repeat of that. We have several Olympians already this season, so really top notch competitors. They fly their horses here sometimes, so they take airplanes to get here like we do. But flying first class. So nothing like what we do, Dave. I just can't. I can't get that through my mind that people are flying horses from all over the world. To come up here. So was this Traverse City event, is this kind of considered a premium event in the country? It is definitely there. There's actually over 6 million in prize money throughout the entire season. So some of these competitions, I mean, you have a shot at winning some serious prize money. I need a horse. And you have to spend a little more to earn that prize money. I suppose. I'd have to spend a whole lot. And then for these jumps, are there different levels of competitor like there aren't a lot of sports where you kind of have the relatively kind of beginners and then kind of rise up to the real pros? There are. And I think it's a bit of a combination with the horse and the rider. When you get to the top level, it's really seasoned riders and really seasoned horses, like top notch in both, but the lower levels you might see a really seasoned ride or with a younger horse. That's less experienced or vice versa. You might see really seasoned well prepared horse, but a rider that's not really used to that level, or a mix of both. So as you get to the top, you really the cream of the crop really starts to come up and you see some really impressive stuff. Do you have to know this sport to enjoy it? Definitely not. I would say, you know, anyone can come at me and that's kind of what's so special about this year is that we're open to spectators again and actually we have a charity ticket program so all of the ticket proceeds go to local charities this year. So I mean, if you want to come out and learn about hunters and jumpers, it's an excellent place to do that. Everyone's so friendly. So if you have questions, you can ask anyone. It really is a special experience. I'm not a horse guy. My kids are not riders, but I've taken them numerous times. And you want to see kids get off their phones for a minute and actually engage in something. I mean, it's so cool to watch this because it truly is a competition. You're waiting, are they going to knock off another one of the bars? Can they get there? Can they beat the time of the previous rider? I mean, we sat there for hours, just soaking this in, so and it is super approachable. It kind of seems like, wow, this is above. Anything I'm used to, but it's a really easy, accessible space here in Trevor city. Well, that's what I was thinking when I went. I thought, well, you know, like, for instance, wines. I don't know wines, 'cause I don't drink wine, but when I go to a winery here, I do feel welcome, and I learn things. Same thing here when I went to Flint fields last year for the Great Lakes equestrian festival. I felt really comfortable there. And this really kind of cool environment in a world that I had never even thought about ever being a part of. So that was really cool. I think to see. So how do people get tickets? How do people interact? Do you have to address a certain way, explain all that? So tickets can be purchased on the website, Traverse City horse shows dot com. You can also purchase tickets at the

"Somehow because i guess fda came and said he for me came from being pitched into cool. There's nothing terrible about bob. People sell digital marketing. Cool see how they may have been selling is in an as. I have and i've sold well but they are. They have zero marginal cost. So you don't have a problem in essence with each stuff and that sort of means that people doesn't matter. About how many people do you sell into it. And they have to think about that. And then the second most grownup people. I know who have been around the block for wild realize that financial management needs to be really good but the really grown up. People you're talking about imaging management integrated with marketing integrated. I hope also finance which we haven't even mentioned to go down that rabbit hole because that's huge unless you have a quick comment on while my only comment is that yet. We recognize that. That's the last piece to the puzzle. It's kind of like this. You know the cycle marketing inventory and finance if it doesn't all work together then you're gonna have problems and that's actually the next place that the that so stocks is going to be headed is building out a cash flow modeling. Have what we call inventory forecast modeling. And then you have cash flow modeling so you can see what is it. That's what you should be able to do is say what if i did this. What would that look like. You know. I run a projection on inventory is what it would look like. Cash flow is what it could look like. And i think that's where the future is headed for. Econ sellers is being able to actually grow into the business in that way. Yeah and you're talking my language. Because i there's literally stuff that i've been working with fairly early. Stage businesses said white. The first thing we're going to do is very guy. Bright garden working with selling dot com. Probably say these guys are great. I bet if they ditch their senior they get a recording contract. I was spot on actually. Because you know there's some good rockets it very competently performed album. That does not need to exist. And i think famously. You've i don't know how famous it is but i know that you've quoted yourself quoting this. Which is buying a dylan. Concert ticket is like buying a lottery ticket. Usually you lose but when you win it changes your life. Yeah i mean. I i have not seen dylan as often as some people have. You know i think For while i would go. You know once a year when you come to new york. Sometimes i'd skip years. I'd say every other year probably seen him you fifteen twenty times in my life at this point and Certainly have gotten so bad ones. I mean for me. The life-changing one was a secret show at tramps in new york which was a small club about three hundred people and it kind of came about right when i was still. I still in touch with enough plan. The kind of new york dylan community. Even though i stopped listening quite intensely. But i kinda got the advance word that he's going to be performing and you could get tickets to this show. That was untitled. But then that was the dylan show and Three hundred people standing room. Only elvis costello joined him on stage. this is nineteen ninety nine And you know he was not a few years after time out of mind. So he's clearly like capable of greatness still But i'd also seen plenty of concerts around that time when he had not been great but for this one for whether it was the venue or whatever it was boy just lake transcendent. And actually when. I did this re- listening this twitter project i didn't listen to any bootleg stuff but i did dig up the recording of that trump's show because i wanted to do a reality test like was it. You know as good as i remembered and it really is. It's it's just a performance for the ages and Boy i'll i'll keep chasing that. Okay i'll keep keep going to see his shows as long as he keeps storing. Because maybe he'll do that again. You're a defender of and lover of as am. I hit the mtv employment like oh yeah yeah. What do people hate it. So much leaked bob. People hit it. And i love it. I was listening to it just recently. And i never get tired of. I find it really. Inventive musically terrific. He's in fine voice. Was it because he sang is not only is greatest hits because he seems john brown. Yes i well. I don't know. I mean i also think that it's funny because i talked about a mercy being so much of its time. The unplugged as very much of its time right. That's a a distinctively boy. That mtv unplugged sound is a very distinct one and he leans into it. You know so maybe people just don't have associations with that..

"It's it would have made it easier. For example the vote by mail it would have made hours of would have made it. Easier to expand hours would've made it easier for people have access to the ballot and so forth. This is this is unknown territory for congress and for the new administration and for everybody. No one quite knows what all these republican motivated changes in. These different states are gonna do. I mean there are real fears out there that this could undermine democracy. We don't know this fascinating debate on both sides and the for the people act at least offered safeguards to that at least offered the federal government's involvement look the federal government has a long history of making sure elections fair dating back to the voting rights act of nineteen sixty five. Even though the supreme court invalidated some of the key points that a few years ago still the justice department was there. There is real fear that this could again elections could be conducted without giving proper access particularly the people who live in rural areas. Bob people of color in certain areas so nobody quite knows here how to proceed what to do how far to go before the people act was an important step and frankly you know needed a good healthy debate. Got it in the house. But at the moment. I don't know about the senate. They always talk by the way of taking pieces of that and trying to get them through very serious talk. And i think that's something we're going to see in the next few weeks read senator. Manchin also said he would preserve the filibuster. What does that mean for president. Biden's agenda well. This is a broader debate. Here about how to how're weather to reform the senate rules to allow legislation to go through without reaching that sixty vote threshold that i talked to talked about earlier. And there's sort of a cottage industry in wash now of pundits debating whether joe manchin is the smartest guy in the room or the most naive person in the room and whether or not he is waiting for the return of an era of bipartisanship that either never was or is long past or if he can force some kind of compromise and whether or not the republicans on whom he's waiting to reach. Some kind of bipartisan agreement are actually willing to reach that agreement or are simply going to be opposed to anything that the biden administration comes up with the first in the first place you know mansion is not the fifty vote Basically democrats would require fifty one votes to change the rules in the senate and and go ahead without the filibuster. Presumably that would include vice-president kamala harris fifty. I vote breaking that tie but mansion. Isn't the fifty vote. They the democrats are still waiting on. We're still trying to convince other senators to get behind reforming filibuster justice. Week senator jon tester of montana said that he had not yet come around to Ah voting in favor of of nixing. Filibuster cureton cinema of arizona is insane boat And she has has said very openly and to the chagrin of democrats in arizona has not in favor of blowing up the filibuster rules. But this is there are. There are a lot of democratic agenda items early on in the biden administration. There's suddenly running into the filibuster threats whether it is the for the people act or the paycheck fairness act or some of the top priorities for for labor unions and some of the key elements of the democratic base. There suddenly running into these republican roadblocks. And you see. Democrats sort of trying to build pressure on senators like tester at cinnamon arizona mansion in west virginia. Trying to get them on board with blowing up the filibuster and advancing this legislation. That is key to what would be joe. Biden's legacy tin appoint of the paycheck fairness active. In how did republicans use the filibuster to block debate on that. And can you remind us that. Bills designed to combat. Pay discrimination against women and lgbtq workers exactly and this is sort of an extension of other legislation. Lilly ledbetter act and so on so forth Over the years this is an ongoing issue It needed sixty couldn't get them. One thing i will point out to follow. Reads point A lot of senators democratic senators are still around who were around five. Six seven years ago when they knocked off the filibuster for judges and at the time they didn't deal with supreme court judges they still needed sixty wellstone's the republicans took control wham. They changed it to fifty one and got three justices confirmed not with sixty votes. A lot of democrats have memories of that and they may win this year next year on fifty one but they also know they're in a fifty fifty senate which could flip very easily next year so then all of a sudden you only need fifty one votes to undo everything that the president biden has done. I just wonder how much you think. We're gonna be talking about the filibuster this summer. I think it's going to be. It's going to continue to be a hot topic. That democrats recognize to david's point that they have an extremely limited window of time in which to advance their agenda. You know a typical president may have a four year term but he probably only has eighteen months maybe even only twelve months to actually govern before his administration gets swept up in the next political cycle and the next political cycle is underway. Already were were talking about the the twenty twenty two midterms and the democrats narrowest of senate majority so if they don't start to do something now than their agenda ends up getting wrapped up in politics. democrats are keenly aware of that and putting pressure on every senator. They possibly can. David lightman is congressional correspondent with mcclatchy. Newspapers reid wilson is a national correspondent with the hill. Thanks to both of you for joining us. You're.

"You Welcome to kiss myths and mysteries, I'm your host Kit Chrome today to get us in the mood of haunted ghost towns that we're going to be talking about later in the we thought I'd cover a couple former military basis that were active during and slightly after world. War Two, but the two I found were six hundred fifty miles apart in one, thousand, nine, hundred, forty, two Tillamook Bay, Oregon was prepared for Submarine Attack Naval Air. Station, as it was called, was the base. Base for squadrons E. P. Thirty three and housed eight K class blimps that carried a crew of ten and dozens of depth charges. They were stored in an all wood, the hanger get this one thousand seventy two feet long two hundred ninety six feet, wide, one hundred ninety two feet high, that took thirty three million board feet of lumber to build originally the basis, one thousand six hundred acres held over sixty buildings, but as of today only thirty five or left standing. In a heavily wooded area paths lead to five separate ammunition bunkers, and the basis littered with dozens of locomotives left rusty on their tracks. There are several aircraft and radar bunkers. Also, it was nineteen forty eight when the base was decommissioned in our story really begins. The two huge hangars were filled with warplanes hanger a contained T. B.. M. Grumman Avenger torpedo boats Henry. Be stored. S. B. TO C. Hell diver dive bombers, five hundred planes in all being made ready for A. A last flight to the Aircraft Cemetery Arizona Robert. smedley was flying a hell diver to San Diego when bad weather said in when he turned back, a group of loggers saw the planes circling under low cloud cover just before the crash, wreckage of the plane was scattered over two hundred yard radius among the wreckage was copy of a Western Union note he'd sent to his wife just days before coming home soon, it said loud Bob People visiting the old base of reported seen. The ghost is probably the spirit of Robert. Smedley, trying to find his way home now travel last six hundred fifty miles. I mentioned to San. Francisco's old hunters point shipyard originally. Originally built on six hundred thirty eight acres of Waterfront. Our story began so the dawn of July first nineteen, forty six, when the able day atomic airburst over tiny Bikini atoll took place over one hundred US military ships surrounded the island of all the vessels. It was light aircraft carrier. US Independence that the government decided to toe into hunters point shipyard intent on finding a way to decontaminate it. They also wanted to determine the potency of the radioactive contamination I. They tried sandblasting. We're left with tons of radioactive sand that had to be packed in of dump some thirty miles off the San Francisco coast next they brought in cats and dogs monitor effects radioactive poisoning on them, then placing the dead contaminated animals into barrels to be dumped into the Pacific. Finally, prisoner volunteers from nearby San Quentin prison were made to clean the ship when they died. You can only guess what happened to their remains. But that's ancient history, the grounds that made up the old shipyard or be decontaminated as soldier real estate investors, one investor reported that when crews were brought out to transient build foundations for his apartment complexes. They stopped short when they approached the side, it was overrun by cats and dogs, and a group of men, wearing vintage prisoner uniforms shuttle days later they were brought in again and found the lots and question deserted. Could the animals have been the spirits of the cats and dogs sacrificed and all those years ago, and what about the group of men were they go? So the volunteers as note of interest the US US independence began to sink before being decontaminated and. And was towed three hundred twenty eight miles out to sea at skull. At least that's what the navy says, but the Ocean Exploration Trust discovered the independence twenty eight miles west of San Francisco Bay and slightly cell of the fair alone
