"Always play responsibly. And unless cool. But chris has something else going on. Let's let's hope blitz plan on having him in episode two of season three. See if you can work into the schedule. Oh he can. It's time for throat. Punch and and admittedly going to be sporadic. Like we were in season to throw punch right. Sure getting merchandise made up and maybe they'll be a t-shirt with road punch her cafe and why not. It's just you know it's the good news is it's hard to come up with throat punch candidates because not every week there is someone or something the jumps off the page and and as we agreed in season two you can always go down the covert path. It's too easy right. Can't hit the politicians. Yeah so i've got one. I don't want to throw by you because it hit me this morning at five thirty. Am pacific in vancouver. Mike my phone. I always keep my phone on. I never knew breaking news. There might be breaking news Mike keenan got fired. Once you phone me at three o'clock in the morning and my phone broke the news. I don't mean to be disrespectful. I got fired many times. Yeah that's fair. it was from florida. Okay yeah they flew home. It wasn't as bad as jarred galant right on the taxi situation. He was he was close. The plane landed in florida. The owner comes up to my keenest. Says you're fired so anyway. He called me to give them arriving. Tarmac fired that was pre twitter by the way so i had to wake somebody up the website to post the news. They were happy. Good as type that out for you So i get the tax message of five thirty from a real good body mind. Let's call him jack as in jackass. Okay because i like them. I i should actually read it. So it's it's a headline with a link attached to it from a newspaper and it's outlining the fact that province of ontario is going back into deep restrictions. only five people Together on a patio. All of these crazies schools are closing effective october. Third think the headline read instantly. My blood pressure goes up because both my kids are in university. Katie at lake had an and mason in front of me. Here we go again. These poor kids have gone through all of this stuff. I don't hit the link. I just forward it to the family chain which is katie. Mason and hauling. Okay and i also forwarded the bob mackenzie pierre lebrun and steve dryden at tsn. Another separate taxling instantly. I get a tax from holly. What's wrong with you. That's gross then. My daughter fires spot because you kidding me smarten up you know bass is the only one that spawned because he actually thought it was so now. I'm like what the hell did. I send a hit the link and it's the big dude with the big appendage. We've all seen too many.

"What the precedent that. They've set on other players that they've paid. Yeah garth garland was far bob. I think our best player especially when he was in the lineup. He was injured for for a few games last year. But i think for vancouver to also take on oliver and his salary they did retain a tiny bit of it on data give up another valuable asset which was connor garland and You know they they move on from oliver and it sucks him. I loved them as a player. I still think he's got a lotta game left. He definitely needed to hit a reset button. I hope he's welcomed with open arms there and and and he has a season or seasons much like he's had in the past now as far as arizona. We know it's a full on blow up there trying to giggling like that. Say it couldn't be more obvious. Sons the sun it like you know seven thirty right now and and then tomorrow morning around six am. The sun will come up and then arizona next year will blow it up. Fucking asfaw fucker disgraceful right. Now it's bad it's set on the last podcast. It's gotta get worse before. It gets better. And i would assume this season will not be a very pleasant one. Now mind you. At least we get the start by drafting nine dover all this year which we got dylan gunther which was a guy that bob mackenzie had pegged in about the three to six range and one of the most dynamic offense of players in the draft. He's a great shot. So let's hope that this kid get end up pop off. And this is the actual beginning of the rebuild because until they got that nine over all they weren't picking until i believe thirty seventh and you know you never really know what you're getting in the second round so it's you know it's it's yeah. It's been ugly for the last couple years we've put ourselves in a bit of a bind and hopefully Like i said the rebuild search now and this deal for me. A couple of different things coming from vancouver. Jim benning is. I'm guessing looking at this. Like if i don't make the playoffs if they don't make the playoffs i'm done so i have to try to make this team better. He did make the team better. No doubt with garland and ecm and larson. They are a better team than they were last year. The thing with that. When larson is he gets the puck on his stick beautiful. There's no issues what he struggles with his defending now. The crazy thing is vancouver spends a ton of time in their own zone so if eckermann larssen traded to. Let's say the islanders are the bruins teams with very very solid defensive systems where you can almost hide players deficiencies defensively because of how the team plays vancouver's not one of those teams so it's what he struggles at is an issue for the entire team in vancouver so that'll be interesting to see but he can move the park he can skate. It's a big deal. But he's gonna need to play better because he's out of the spotlight and vanco in phoenix where nobody watches. He's now going into a canadian market. He's a high played player. The pressure will be on. The fans will be all over him if he does struggled defensively as he's has the past few years so busy i know you say you think he's got a level to get back to and he will. That question remains but vancouver is better and gilles looks at it like we have to be better. I'm gone anyway so i wouldn't even be. I won't even be here to deal with this contracting four seasons if if it doesn't go well anyway so at this point. Let's try to get better. I love garland. That's a great move for them. That help boats helps. Oh defensively and i do think vancouver's gonna much improved and looking to get into the playoffs. So they got some work to do still they gotta sign some guys here. That's what that's one of the reasons. Of course jake. Virtanen got bought out. They got big guide about twenty million in cap space. They need to sign darlan. They need to sign. Elias patterson they need to get quinn hughes a new contract so you know we're you know be bending 's biggest flaw i think one of the major ones has been his his ability to manage the cap and he's always pretty much jammed up on it so we'll see how they're able.

"Big oil. Yeah wish she'd give me a little bit as one thing that people don't know about me yet. So we know the james doug intolerably log things lots of things that they they They don't know about me one thing so we know we know that james ties tyron does leg. Yeah we also found out that harney ryan sing. Doesn't know how to tie a tie. he gets other people to do that for him and i think when he's working at home it's his wife ties the tie for we here. So maybe there's a scene with neckties. So i i always go. We are only high one now. And it's always a four windsor. Not half windsor knot foreign hand or whatever they call those other the full windsor and the reason. I know retie for windsor. As a when i might say well as i do is because my dad was a close worse. My dad was very nicely dressed. I'd dad worked for that worked on the production at the hollander trough and he would wear a title work every day and then after. Take the tie off when he got to work to work in the factory and then put it back on at the end of the day. Wow because he just thought that you should dress properly for free something like work. So he taught me how to tie a full windsor and You gotta make sure that the nada straight you gotta make sure that it drives me crazy when i watch tv and i see people on tv and their ties crooked. Not it's not buttoned right up to. There's a little bit of space between your top button and the not. It bothers me if the dimples way off center there's many things about ties that would offend my sensibilities because my dad taught neither proper way to time for windsor. Not that's interesting the storyteller about your dad. My dad's been retired for. I don't know five six seven years. And for the longest time. I think covert has changed everybody of course but i'd go over to his house. He's not working but he is wearing dress pants dress shirt and a tie and i'm like where where are you going. I woke up today side to get at wearing a dress shirt every day in retirement and he very rarely warrant at twenty was worked at. That's amazing but not not dissimilar to my dad's attitude who my my. My dad always used to say you trust. You never know where you're going to meet or into and and no. I was taught me young age. But i didn't follow a lot of nice. 'cause i i go looking like i hear ya. "Couldn't tax anybody email. Anybody there was no messaging you. If you wanna talk to somebody you had to pick up the phone and call and hope that they call you back or you get of and have actual conversations. It was a much more in many respects. It was more labor intensive but in many respects was much more personal and You know there's pros and cons to both sides of it. Yeah when so so. i'm. I'm curious about how you disseminate information you you've for the most part for for most of your or what you're most best known for is your your time with tsn and they've got programming and you're on these programs and obviously the ownership also owns radio stations and so on right so you're sort of fulfilling your obligations as an employee when you get a scoop and you're not scott. Let's say scheduled to be on somewhere. Do is is what was the flake. Do you struggle with. Should i throw this out on twitter. Even though there's no value to for example tsn like wizar- struggle with that or was it. No this is what i'm supposed to do over time. We batted around a lot internally at. Tsn we talk about that a lot and you know. Initially you know you're right. The idea was to try to drive as many eyeballs as possible to dot ca. Two more hits they get the more advertising naked cell. You wanted to it a destination so that you create this sense that if you want your few one news and information on the national hockey league you're gonna go to tsn getting on tsn dossier to get that information and so absolutely initially you you normally would put it on tsn dot ca and and and that was even before social media before twitter and and quite often it was like you would put it on there but there was no way to really promote it outside of it being on the front page of tsn dot ca and and somebody on the radio or television. Say a story on dot ca. Look who had just got fired or look who just got hired or look who just got traded. So you would do that over time. I think it morphed into something else where because social media gave everybody every reporter no matter how big a paper. How big an outlet he worked for a small note lady worked for Virtually not just reporters gabe. He'd anybody the ability to break news instantaneously and And so i think if you wanted to try to you know if the goal was for us at tsn and probably part of the reason why they hired me full fulltime one hundred percent In around in two thousand They wanted to be the source for all news and information at hockey. And so and ideally you wanted a on tsn. As i said but over time and more recently you know they would be understanding and knowing that was very competitive. Now get a scoop. It might only last for two minutes so you wanna be. I wanna be right. You wanna be i. Yeah so just put it up on on on twitter and And and that's it we don't that's the means. But because you're still creating that sense of if you're breaking story after story after story or pieces of information on social media in your doing so under the at tsn. Bob mackenzie banner is still benefiting from the reputation and that means forcing that sense of people. If you want your news and information you want to get from. Bob mackenzie darren dreger frank seravalli or pierre lebron or whoever happens to be working at tsn on any given day That that is so true. Were there were there stories that you know you'd hear from the hockey world that Could be seen as more of a personal nature or not concerning the game that you'd get that for some reason people wanted out there that you say listen to says this has nothing to do with what happens on the ice. This has nothing to do with the business of the team. And so on that you would sort of let go others would pick up I'm curious about you know. Are there lines drawn especially with you being you know known as sort of the You know the first corner coat. nhl insider. Yeah it's i don't know. I guess best way to answer. That question would be simply say everybody. In the media business has to have sort of an internal threshold of what their guiding principles on how they're gonna go about their job and so you know if you're asking me certainly in the eighties and nineties when i was more perceived to be on a beat if you will or in the rinks more more as opposed to being in the studio or so much work being done from home now even before even before covid you know you could work out of the house. A lot and social media The communication with so many people But to to be. I wouldn about in covering the national hockey league back in those days. You know if. I saw a player at a bar. And you know the night before a game i wasn't in i wasn't to me that that wasn't ridiculously newsworthy. Certainly not because it happened so often in the eighties and nineties. It was a different game back then. The thresholds were differ. It'd be unusual now. I mean if you saw a big at each on superstar the night before gaming in a bar and so i guess there's such a gray area to the question. So i mean i i mean if it's the night before game seven of the stanley cup final and you see star player for the team. And he's no swashbuckler drunk at a bar you know that's that that would probably be news. You know what i i am. Not but if it's nine o'clock at night and there's a guy in their glass of wine or even a couple of beers or whatever and he's playing game thirty seven of the season the next day. Eleven o'clock midnight that that wouldn't that wouldn't register for for me. So i don't know i just i just try to use my instincts and better judgement to decide what's news what's not news. What's in the public interest in the best interest And what's on a need to know and You know Probably made mistakes both ways along the way but you know everybody's got have their own sensibilities if you want to call them or guiding principles on how you want to go where your job nice. I wanna get to the book but one one question before we do. Is there one scoop one piece of news that you broker you covered that. You're most proud of what..

"Basically a mini me. Yeah. I've watched you can see that that the new broadcaster because Romo immediately became the barometer, right? Like the guy did it for one year or something there were throwing a huge deal Adam I think was very short in his career as color guy and I can see other. Other broadcast crews who are doing games. particularly. Football, of course, we're Tony Romo does it are are trying to emulate what he does and it ain't work. It working I. I find forget the names of guys that I've seen but sort of the skeleton crews there slapping together. One of the newbies on the hockey side of things we're going to go into the analysis side Kevin Be Exa as been quite good so far I think as a hockey analyst. Yeah he's been. He's off to a great start and then they're looking for something that would Love Him Don Cherry was a presence but they've yet to kind of fully replaced on Cherry in terms of what he was and what he meant to the viewers. A lot of people grew to dislike him over the years but there's no question that he was for a lot of people must see TV am. To the kind of have that same level of character and personality but Kevin is someone I enjoy watching. Yeah and some of the other guys that really deserve. Some recognition Elliott Friedman is does a great job on that on the desk that they do. You know with Ron Maclean. Kelly Rudy is really you know fallen into his his own he he was a I really like those guys when they when they break the games down Brian Burke finding his way. So, crusty writing. It's like so Christie like are you ever GonNa Smile? What happens to your brains leak out your ears? If you cracker smile because he doesn't not as big that's his biggest failing I mean the information it gives us good insight. He gives as good as opinion is good but just a personality, it's like d like hockey or because you seem really miserable right now. It's kind of like it's a pain in the ass for him to be there. Yeah. It was just terrible when they started it I mean it was just he didn't even know what to do you know. He's getting better all the time. Anyway, all those guys though the Canadian guys deserve a lot of credit the other guy Is, he he got a lot of Bob. Mackenzie, is a guy that the people of WHO's gone into semi-retirement. Dino. Gino Reta I, like hockey show. He's been around a long long time. WHO's the other Guy Steve that does a daily hockey show for tsn it's Rod. Smith. Yes Yeah Cooler Sorta take them for granted. "Good. You know these phones are crazy good. and. You know that's that's someone who makes are living out of it. Saying that so I. Wonder I said. Well what's next? I don't know. What do you think it'll be next? Stevie well I think they'll. Improve the cameras for one, although it's hard to imagine it getting much better. Than what are they gonNA improve I. Don't know it's it's. It's you're right. It's gotten to a point now. Where the human eye is not going to distinguish any further improvements. It's the same way with TV. Right like it's. We're ultra high definition or whatever stage we're at right now. It's like yeah. That looks the same as seven twenty P or whatever? But I don't know. There's lots of Is a case of. Were to stage now where the phone can control so many things via Wi fi. That you know you see people that are just sitting in their living room on the couch and they can control pretty much every electrical function in their house from their smartphone, and I think that. You can build on that with various things you know. Start my car, or whatever I'm sure that exists already, but you know there are probably lots of applications from that foundation that are coming down the pipe still. I know what it's going to be stevie. Good. Okay, so you guys, you know they show you this right and it's like the first guy first time guy showed me go. Look at this I have my phone on on my camera on panic. Panoramic view. Could swing it all the way to the left. You can do this three hundred sixty degree picture you know. What the how were they doing that? I know what it's going to be. Stevie hit me the next big thing. dudes going to be sitting beside me with his camera. Maybe. Maybe, the restrictions and left will be restaurant. Look what I got going on here with this new four. Okay, you know what's going to. See through going to be able to take a picture of a check. You. Can See. What's going on underneath or close? My van, some sort of thing that would measure. The sense of humor you have and what level of? Juvenile it is. That's where you'd run into trouble. The most I suggest that's the default. Oh lucky is at P, poo poo level. Wow, there's gonna be a big thing. That's his. Don't waste your time. I want to get into this. This NHL story about because we've all been looking forward to the NHL returning at some point, we had no idea when until this week and we now know that gradually. They're going to start training camp this coming Monday. We know that about a week after that start reporting to the hub cities Toronto Edmonton, and then on August, I this whole thing is going to begin. What it didn't really get my head around was how much cramming there was going to be shirk. Obviously, we know the NHL in normal circumstances puts on their Stanley. Cup, playoffs tries to spread it out so that the biggest number of fans can watch. The biggest amount of hockey, mother, Cram and hard. There's a proposed NHL playoffs schedule. That's outright now. That is suggesting fans are GONNA be able to watch fifteen hours of hockey. Per Day. Bob Mackenzie says the NHL. Restart the season and looks like. If. This thing goes down the way they think could be a total of six games a day. The Games would start at noon and the final game would start at ten o'clock eastern. So holy man, I'm like as much as I love hockey, not many people. I think alive. Love Nhl, hockey as much as I do the probably are some, but not many. There's no way in hell. I can sit down and watch six games of NHL. Hockey for two months. Well they're. Seen yesterday Stevie. When you were producing, this Hispanics cast talking to rusty. Really really. It's an unnecessary thing sports right now. Okay, it's you don't need it. Okay, you think you. Do you think you do, but but you really don't. however they've. They've fallen to this this pressure. I guess of fans, sponsors and all this stuff saying. We gotta get sports back. We gotta get sports back so. So, normally Steve something like that you would sort of. Phase in okay and when they used that. When when they used that little model when they're talking about, we're GONNA phase it in I laughed my head off this morning. That saying okay, here's the here's the little subtle phase in. We're going to do whammo fifteen hours a hockey a day till everyone drops dead, you know. So it's sort of. You know what's what what happens. Steve Right today for example in my town in Edmonton, which is a hub. Is what I thought might happen. And what are they? GonNa do then is. I live five minutes from one of the hospitals here in the West End and And not only do I only live five minutes from that hospital, but I do a lot of shit around that hospital. Like the home depots there there I was going in and out when everything was sort of laying bulb I got a little less twitchy. The Tim Hortons I go to his right across the street. That hospital has I say the story. It's. It's shutting down because of..

"Blow over and we'll be back to talk about Las Vegas and a hub city a couple of days, but so that makes told them down the NHL. I. Yeah I mean I. It makes total sense what you're talking about I mean there's. There's just there's there's so many layers to this i. mean there's also the. You know the financial consideration for the NHL. Obviously, it's cheaper to hold. You don't even in Canada. When they're footing. The bill I mean that's just you know simple economics in exchange, rate, and and things like that. I mean I think to your point there with with various bubble is? I think it was reported even. To an extent that it's not even so much like the players running, Darren in in in all that it's it's employees like the hotel employees and things and they go home, and they spend you know. However they want to spend the rest of their day, and they're coming back in and then potentially exposing. You know players and things like that I. Think maybe some concern about maybe how tight their Vegas bubble actually could be in maybe what we've seen in the last few days. Kind of put some doubt in the NHL as mine as to you know. How would that be if you know? Other people are kind of coming in and. May, not being able to kind of Control I. Guess What what they're being exposed to away from the bubble, so. I mean there's so many like I. said. There's so many things for the initial to consider with all this and I can't even imagine being. Lawyer, or some of the folks that are you know having to negotiate all this stuff and go over every little? Detail, because really I mean not to be over dramatic, but it's people's lives at stake in in people's health at stake so. That should be the top priority for the League. And if they're GONNA do this. They have to make sure that everybody's safe. No absolutely and I know there's probably a lot of people that think hey. These guys are athletes in great physical condition. What's really ultimately the concern for them? Well, some of these guys have underlying medical conditions that maybe are not public that they're worried about. They might have family members that they're worried about I mean. Obviously we can talk with the Golden Knights. Shea Theodore had cancer this past summer, and so obviously I'm not a doctor I. Don't know exactly his level. Of Risk or if there's even any risk for him, but I'm sure that's something that's he's had to have. Conversations. About are certainly would have to be in the back of his mind, and so you know these guys are. Chino putting their health on the line, so it's fair of them to ask to try to be in the most secure safe location possible, and we should mention the garage just going to say I. Mean we've heard. Prayer specifically like Max. I think capital Cocco was another one. That data diabetic that we know that that. Puts them at a higher risk if they contract the virus still. I mean my understanding from what I think. Bob Mackenzie and some other people have reported. There's going to be like an opt out clause I think in in all of this to where if players don't feel safe or if there's concern like you've described therein were maybe there's an underlying. Health issue? Maybe it's asthma. You know something as simple as that that that puts them more at risk so I I think in. It's been reported there at that potentially the players have the option to opt out. We'll see if any of them do and I. Think we'll be more interesting is I'm curious how they would then be received. I would hope everybody would understand and. You. Know The you wouldn't be ostracized. I guess a teammate for for not. Participating in something like this, but but again all this is going to be put to a vote by the NHLPA. It sounds like you know at some point this week. maybe by this weekend it would be finalized so wool you know. Maybe we'll see what the vote is. We'll see how many players you know. Once they're able to. Put their name on a ballot or maybe not put their name on a ballot Britt. Put a vote on a ballot. How how they actually feel about all this? Yeah so we? This is all probably going to get folded into this one giant return to play agreement for the NHL in the NHL. Players Association. I mean Dave, mentioned kind of not wanting to be a lawyer before these guys are just working overtime upon overtime to try to get this stuff done, because not only do. They have to iron out all these health and safety protocols for training camps and Games and the bubble life in these two hub cities when they do eventually choose them trying hammer out a collective bargaining agreement extension at the same time to that would basically provide some. You know economic certainty for the players. Essentially what they're going for their, so there's just. Pages and pages pages I can't even imagine how many pages of documents they're going through and revising tweaking to try to get the League backup on its feet the summer, so we'll see when that comes out. It does seem like we're getting close golden. Knights Fence Brayden mcnabb was on a zoom call with local media. Monday and he said basically the vote. From any day now, so we'll see. mcnabb also spoke on some of the issues. The two sides are still working through. Let's give a listen to what he said. That's tough question. I mean there's a lot of uncertainty right now. you know I think everyone believes we're gonNA play I. Know as a team. We Really WanNA play. but definitely ask rose a big part of it. definitely a big part of it. And if we can get somewhere, we can agree upon. It'd be great, but there's a lot of little things that you know. Spend, discussed and steps that is going to be do a little bit ironing out, but.

"Las Vegas Review Journal talks about hockey and hub cities, and possibly the most dramatic NHL draft lottery of all time. We've got a lot to get to in today's episode I thought it might be kind of you know in the middle episode, not a ton of news coming out, and then all of a sudden. We've had some major stuff. Come Out in the past twelve hours or so so excited to get to that before I. Do. I want to remind everyone that this podcast is presented by favor. DRINK FAVOR, dot, com, please rate review. Subscribe whatever you do to podcast. Please do US help. Other people find us. So that, we can keep talking about all these topics and I'm excited to talk with Dave Shane about them. My colleague, who's back from vacation Dave, how was your aren are? My arms tired from all. The fish I caught. I gotTa tell you. It was great humble brand. It was A. It was good it was. It was good to get out and get for a little bit. You know, but also nice to jump back in and actually. Actually have some some stuff to talk about. It seems like for a few weeks. We were Kinda. GNARLY scraping for things to to discuss, but certainly there's some news news going on right now, so that's exciting. Yeah you just dove right back into the deep end essentially, and let's get to kind of what we're talking about right now. So we curd rumblings like I, said twelve hours so mainly from kind of the godfather of NHL. Insiders tsn Bob Mackenzie as well as his colleague. Frank Serve Ellie that Las Vegas might be on the outs when it comes to a hub city. Now we'll see we're still waiting for any official word on the NHL hub cities where they're gonNA stage this twenty four team postseason tournament, but the winds do seem to have shifted. Since we last talked last week then again, those winds do seem to shift every single day. Basically, so maybe they'll blow the other way. But for now. Las Vegas no longer appears to be a front runner for hub city. It's been a hub hub city are basically this entire time for? Reasons that people can reasonably come up with on their own in terms of how the city handles big events, and how much players like being here. But now the tune seems to have changed largely because the cove in nineteen testing numbers have certainly changed in the last couple of weeks here. I mean just to give people an idea of how much this is a shift, las, Vegas and Vancouver seemed like absolute shoo-ins last week TV the two hubs that he's then like two days later. Vancouver was out and then it was going to be potentially Las Vegas. In Toronto, and then all of a sudden las, Vegas is. And now it's really sounds like it's GonNa. Be Edmonton and Toronto which means that it's probably actually going to be Chicago and L. A.. Two cities still alive. In this conversation. It's been a whirlwind whirlwind couple of days. Dave but as you came back to work, we're you surprised to see LAS. Vegas is no longer at the front of the pack. This kind of build up to it. You know obviously like when our left's. had been hearing. You know they're using cougar like you mentioned. Once I kind of St the numbers and you see what's going on. No I'm not surprised in quite honest. Mean Nothing is Las Vegas, but I'm glad they made the decision I. Think it goes to show. You know why the NHL delayed. Making any announcement and we had talked about this for you know kind of last month. You know why they're there waiting and and obviously it's because. Things develop quickly and things change in St not here just in the last few days so. I mean without getting, too. You know I guess. Scientific political, you know all that other stuff like you just look at the sheer numbers in if it's about safety, and if it's about the health and wellbeing of players and staff, and all that that's the first priority then. Yeah, you should do it in Canada because right now i. mean our numbers are disproportionate to just about any country? You know like in Europe and in Canada so. For that reason alone, I I think it. It just makes more sense to do it in in Canada. Edmonton has a bubble that they've talked about the contain everybody will see I think when Toronto redid. Their bid. It was kind of to us. coca-cola Coliseum in that part of Toronto is kind of a a similar bubble area, rather than like Scotiabank which is basically right downtown and things like that, so I think the NHL looks at this in feels like. The the safest I guess bubbles the secure. Areas Right now would be Toronto at Edmonson. Yes so the pitch we had heard I las Vegas. All this time was going to be the tightest bubble out of all of these nothing's getting in nothing's getting out but I think what either the NHL where the players may be both kind of shifted to was well. Why do we need this ultra-tight bubble in Las? Vegas where cases are expanding where we can go to Edmund, attended Toronto, and even if there's like a tiny prick, the bubble, it's not gonNA matter as. As much, because as you said the testing numbers are just so drastically different, and so for people who haven't seen the numbers or don't pay attention to the raw numbers as much as we do. Because obviously tracking this as part of our day to day job now, Clarke County had five hundred new Cobra cases today Wednesday. As we're recording this there's also report on our website. Review Dot com that the coronavirus transmission rate in Nevada is the highest in the USA. By contrast to the fact that there were more than five hundred cases in Nevada today all of last week, the Edmonton area had about one hundred forty new cases for the whole week, so about twenty new cases a day I mean we're just talking about drastically different numbers that are not even in the same ballpark. Which is why David make sense if they are taking the approach now of hey, why have a really tight bubble to ensure safety when we can just go somewhere where we don't have to just be absolutely dead on vigilant or else? There's a pretty good chance that an outbreak is going to happen, and as we've talked about before and I know. If our colleague Adam Hill was on this podcast. He's on vacation. He would definitely say that. There's no way that that bubble in Las Vegas. As tight as WANNA, make, it is going to be secured just because these players are human beings and human beings, probably at some point. If you have to stay in one place for a couple months, we'll get bored and one of them's probably gonNA wonder on down to a casino and try their hand. Texas holdem and that could ruin everything for everybody, so that's what I think. The rationale is behind like I said the current wind shifting. Who knows maybe this will all?.

"Of fame. I would give that up to get this guaranteed to spots. and. But what? elfi I'd Betty would I sure would. He would but but here's the weird thing Bob McKenzie put out some tweets today. right. You'd think about suspense. Fans to be like like riveted. Totally pumped about this laundry up and it's like let's say the boss fall their way, and they get number one overall and Alexi Lebron year supposed to be this generational talent like two points, a game, junior, and just a phenomenal player. It looks like the NHL could come back and say. No No, the draft lottery is no longer applicable. Like if the NHL, what what are you doing to me here? If the basically, if the NHL, season ends up getting canceled, and they don't play any more games. Bob Mackenzie says there may be a plan in place, so this is the tweet. Let me read the tweet and you can make it what you will. The. NHL Obviously has a plan what would happen to the draft lottery and order of selection in the event? The season doesn't materialize. They haven't shared this plan with the member clubs so for those asking what might happen. My answer right now is I. Don't know. Bob, Mackenzie doesn't know, but the point is like he. It looks to me unless I'm reading that wrong. It looks to me like so. The Senate could win the draft lottery and get Alexela frontier, but if like weeks down the road, and we're GONNA freak out in this town. If that happens like lose our minds so excited. We've won the lottery. It looks to me like weeks down the line. If the NHL season is canceled Gary, Bettman could wander up to the Ottawa senators and steal the golden ticket back from them. Oh No, and just change the draft lottery and the order of selection around and do something different. Bizarre world what you can't do that, you can't go back on your lottery results. Anyway Mackenzie heals your. Sorry. We're taking it back. You were five under ten. We're taking it back right. Now because there was a rain delay or something, what the fuck. Ninety one I I'm sure I've I'm sure have broken your brain now, but anyway that concerns me deeply deeply concerns me, and it's It's probably. since the game seven of the Eastern conference final in twenty seventeen. Far and away the biggest moment in and maybe one of the biggest moments in franchise history, because if they get Alexia frontier, do wellness draft like it could be just a total turnaround dead last in attendance. They get the frontier. I bet they're not close to the bottom of the league in attendance, just because everybody's GonNa WanNa come out and say that guy not to mention. He's a French Canadian superstar in Junior, so the Quebec side fans are GonNa be flocking to the rink as well. It's like the greatest marketing. Tool, that they've seen in a long time. I need to look no further than my backyard where the oilers were and then when Connor mcdavid came to town. Couldn't get a ticket. Be The exact same scenario yup exactly. Steve gotta go. You gotTA. It finally stops the having to buy the laptops all the time and the phones and having to buy the frigate two hundred dollars pair of shoes every six months that all ends. Okay, you know what I did in back in my day Steve when my when I went to. Start School each year. Okay, my mother took me to the drugstore in town and submarine, and bought me new pencil crowns and that little tin case with that thing called him a protracted compass. Mass, that's what. The maths. That can. You, love the Old Shit. I love that getting a new lunch kit again i. Get, the orange plastic lunch kit that had all the NHL Logos on it and the thermos that matched that. Right so if your parents stepped out Steve Okay, they stepped out each year and gave you a fresh stuff. Okay, they had to lay down of a hard eighteen or nineteen bucks. Okay, they did I know they had to go deep into the savings. Maybe if you're really good, maybe they. Maybe they spend twenty five, okay? Something like that and you get you get laid out perfect. Everything's there for you for the year. Okay, the lunch pail. The math set is always told. The math set up and the. "Is this right? We have four thousand People Watch. nope, we have forty one people watching. That's four. Both a little quiet now it says. Both a little quiet. What the fuck you know! What though there's an you? People don't know what you're talking about. We have podcast. Check, one, two, one, two three engineering CEVANTES. We just made the most viral tweet of the. True. How do you? How do we feel about having a barrel tweet from the brunch account? Knock common, not not uncommon, but not common. No yeah, but I like it because it's like very on brand if it was a tweet that if we'd like. Sold out to make a viral yeah! I would have been pretty upset about that, but we didn't. We We made a very on brand viral. Have you watched? Have you watched the show Dave yet? I think I've talked to you about that. I have not the little I don't know it's I'm I'm four episodes in not that good show but I'm just watching it okay. In the last episode was his buddy starts to manage him and decides he needs to go viral. So he goes viral by walking into a they take a video of him walking into a library dressed as the mask, he jumps onto a table and yells somebody suck me. It goes viral, but he's mad because everyone just knows him as the somebody suck me guy instead of multiple. show the first episodes really good and I think the second solid and then third bad fourth, not so terrible. I will say there are a lot of responses to the saw on my normal twitter. I have notifications muted unless the person follows me. So you don't get a lot of clutter so like if you're tweets, retweeted and someone response to that I don't see that because I don't care about that person I. Don I want to see someone who? They. They don't matter. so I. Don't have a lot of that clutter on my own twitter, but I do not have that setting on the brunch twitter account so there are a lot of responses to this tweet with. Why does this say celebrities? I only recognize Bob Mackenzie for. PT. They're. Basically people are like I recognized at most two or three people in this. Yeah the end like a little behind the scenes Bob McKenzie was the final edition I believe. And that was the one that really got people going. Once it was re tweeted into hockey twitter, and then like Bob Mackenzie comes out of fucking. It really really and like Bob Mackenzie really lowered himself to help join. People don't know this Mackenzie. He's wanted them boys, you know. Oh, he is, he is, but he absolutely does not need to do brunch copper for sure, but he's. He's cool enough of a guy to actually sure I was chatting with the the the the. How was afterwards and they were like? Man Most random cameo ever and I was like no. Is that hound my yes. So. How big in the streets good I'm so proud a We! We should tweet from the brunch account like sneak peek at what had been working in on the studio and it's just that video. "One of those guys hockey night in Canada. I I I I can speak first hand as can you about losing your sports broadcast Gig. It's a it's a fun life and everything like that hockey night in Canada. Though it's one of the sweet gigs out there. And he lost his gig earlier. The movie was late last year. I should say. And but he's still out there on twitter and things like that and Backup he lost his gig to for no apparent reason other than cutbacks. Exactly one of these guys said something untoward. Doug Maclean got shown the door at the same time John Shannon same thing and it was all just cutbacks. And then I see like what they've got on there. Now they Elliott Friedman this Ron Maclean there as well of course Don Cherry is out not for cutbacks. Sake though I would expect that. A financial component was involved in the ultimate decision there as well We can save a little more money on grapes now. That he's a shot himself in the vote right but They put himself in the zone. Is there to still? I think yes. That's right. And I saw Colby Armstrong filling in like it was like wow I mean could be a nice guy. Maybe he was nervous that night or something. He's broadcast for a while now. But I saw KIP. Gross and Kelly Rudy and boy. They were not having a very good night on Saturday. Night as far as being articulate. Anyway Kip Rios real swinging. Miss he tries to kind of stay in the mix break. In the scoops on social media Shea Weber suffered an ankle injury and a couple of days ago. Caprio said on twitter. Well from what I'm hearing. It's a very serious ankle injury. They're worried about it. It's probably a season ender and they're also worried that it might be a career ender at went pretty badly because yeah well. The haves immediately responded and said No. It's four to six weeks. Max and KIP roses. Like now I'm sticking to my report. Okay and today practice. I'm looking at Shea Weber. Taking his mammoth one timers at practice taking a normal run in practice and it's possible he might be back for the next game so the career ender that Caprio was reporting on suddenly just a few days right crazy. I think I think what's happened here. So nick wants to back in the fold right and what a great way to get back in there is if you look at Darren drager. Tsn right that guy's been there a long time a long time. And he's the go-to guy on scoops. Bright Darren I think probably the guy right but Darren's rate in there right. They often go to Darren to say what what's happening with trade rumors and stuff like that and he's really good otherwise you wouldn't last if you if you started saying. Shit like Nick did all the all day long near and you're wrong but there's a real job there right fans love it. They love to eat it up. They love to find out about stuff. And and Bob Mackenzie. You're right are fantastic at it and they really really grind out there sources before they go public with it. So one of the great audition moves is to try and have scoops right and nick probably looks at that and go. Okay I gotTa do fuck. I know everyone hockey right. He's got the Big Role of Xi's connected. He was a great player. He WanNa Cup. I think in New York with the great player I'd say he was a fringe. Nhl who was an enforcer. Well when I say great player I always mean that. They're the people know who they are is in the League so by the that's a great player in the NHL. Well while the point is he he knows a ton of guys. Okay and if you run a station. Radio television station OR NEWSPAPER. You know you like look someone get a hold of kiprop. This may be a great fine for us so what he does is say. I know what I can do. GonNa show them right. And so it would. Effectively be like an audition. Any fucks up royally and apologize for it. He just You know he's still stands by how he got the information just It hasn't worked out and He apologized profusely. And I think a lot of people. Listening right now would probably say well. Kip Rose played the game. You know so many players in I would put more stock in a former player than one of these media. Guys bought it. I think most of the best scoops are honestly the media guys who've developed relationships with player agents. There's a few GM's like the real scoop guys you know they know some GM's and they certainly know people around the League but by and large it's favors being given to the these media guys from the agents. They feed them little bread crumbs and And a lot of its powder cake stuff. Really good scoops and in return. When they need to curry favor with one of their players. They'll go back to these same guys. That they fed the breadcrumbs to and say. Hey guys not happy out here. He's looking for a trade or something like that right well. This week on this man was right. Russ talked about that negotiating contracts. And he said exactly what you're talking about your smart man. Steve that the agents negotiate in the media. Okay with stuff so back to back to this thing. There's doubt Steve. There's no doubt that if you are a guy who loves to give the scoops you're gonNA find a gig somewhere and I remember when I got hired full time in in radio everyone knew this connection. I had with with the great one and I remember. Mi tell stories about him coming on air and then I thought this is a little much I mean even people stay right is like shut the fuck up journal okay. We know you're deal with Gretzky and I went to say look you know. I just think it's a little much. You know to be talking about the great one all the time you know and my boss said to me. No no all day pill if you want him to come on and read. The phone book was his expression. No problem you know and and I said look at you know if you if you hired me because of who I know you know in in the League and want me to start to give dirt. Then I'm out you know that's why these guys are friends you know but the deal is that they're all about it. Though right the media outlets are like let's find some shit on these guys good bad or otherwise and there's a there's a role for you here you know so accent. Listenership right and listenership equals chiching. That's what it comes down to obviously like the enquirer. I think we you know it's like people chew that. Shit up man up so anyway. Nick has a shot figures. You can go do it to get back in and blows it now. You're now you're probably done periods. Steve GonNA leave you anymore. You know if nick comes again okay. Got Another one. I got another winning early past nick. Okay Yeah we'll go to Mackenzie and drager right okay. Before he had break here. Some sends notes all kind of part of RB COMPUTING. Web Poll today sends taken on Buffalo. Tonight as we record this on February eighteenth and it would be kind of cool to see. Andrew Hammond get the start for the sabres. The first time he'd take on his own old team Because of course in twenty fifty at the amazing hamburglar run. That was cool and it would be cool to see him in there. I don't know he stuff. I know as we record this. He's the third goalie on the depth chart right now so I wouldn't necessarily count on it but it would be a neat thing. Storyline though is that Chris Phillips number four is going to be retired before the game against the sabers tonight and so he's the second Modern Day San. They also retired. The number eight of Frank Finnigan but of course Daniel Alfredsson is the only modern day senator. Who's got his number up in the rafters and Chris. Phillips number four will be joining him there. The ceremony is going to start at six thirty tonight so being seats early for that. And the other sends angle is part of the computing web pool. So we'll get some feedback from you on it. We're inside a week now from the NHL Trade deadline. What current Ottawa. Senator do you now. Most feel strongly will be in a new uniform next week. Here's some of the feedback. We've got lt writes a twist of this whole thing. I really really really really hope. It's not J. G. Paschel Mr Mongoose Rights as much as I have been saying it. It's going to be Pozo then. Tyranny of already party I just looked up already party in the urban dictionary and I'm very surprised and confused declare as well I may have to do that already. Party thing and check that out a couple more for Pasuq from David and Marnie. Fraser goes with Danilo because that contract is too easy to fit with any team but I do hope they keep him Ryan rights trick question there. No there are no current Ottawa. "This mother features Montreal. Actor Jaber shale who directed the hockey movie goon, and there's an off season chat with Thomas Chabad, as well faces MAG dot CA. All right. Let's jump into some NHL draft discussion, and we're very pleased to be joined by grant McCague. He is the author of valley snapshots that really cool book about any gel players grew up in the Ottawa valley. He's a former scout with the Montreal Canadians, and he's the founder of what he's doing. These days, recruits dot CA covers NHL draft eligible prospects, cool website. And when it comes to the top twenty selections in this year's NHL draft. No one was more accurate than recruits in the preview grant decided on his top twenty the twenty guys he believed with the best players available in the draft. And you know what all twenty all they all fell inside the actual top. Twat. Thirty in the draft that is impressive and graduates right now. How you doing grad, hey, doing great? Yeah. I was pretty pretty happy about that. That is that a first for you covering the draft all these years. Oh, yeah. And I think as you may have mentioned on Twitter, that's you know, I don't think too many people have done that. So it's a. Considered it an achievement. No doubt. I mean, again, a hockey fan does when you want to put that out and then look back at at your draft preview what, what is this? You maybe wanna go get yourself a lottery ticket or something like that. Because there's a lot of skill that goes in there, but I mean any one of the top twenty teams could've gone volatile done something really, really crazy. But there's no question there's like this insatiable desire among hockey fans to know you know what's going on at the NHL draft because even hardcore hockey fans are looking at these kids and, and wondering what they are because few of us have time to watch all these players and so to go twenty for twenty like that, I mean, that's going to vote well for the website for sure. Moving forward. Do you get that accuracy based on all the contacts and the phone calls you make? Or do you get a chance to watch these players? Or is it a combination of the two? Yeah. It certainly a combination. I like to You know, across between what Bob MacKenzie does. And what the what it independence go does? I obviously, I get to see all of the, you know, the top probably sixty guys then you start to, you know, you know, you start to see some names, like Matthew Steinberg who cover out the sixties. I never even heard of that. You know, after about the second round then you start you start getting these guys get drafted that you say, oh, jeez. I guess the six hundred glares at I scouted or whatever wasn't enough. Yeah. I, I get to see most of them, but I have I have four or five NHL scouts high-ranking scouts that I that I consider friends, and we talked quite a bit, which Jj information. Certainly, I, I take what they say quite seriously, because they're getting out CDs guys the aims at all, especially when they go to UNT tournaments that, that, that I don't get to see your or what have you. Their input is valuable because her watch these guys live, you know, it's, it's sort of like having your own scouting staff in the students but, you know, I I just don't pay them. We're very pleased to be joined by grant McCague. He is the founder of the website recruits dot CA covering NHL draft eligible prospects. So let's jump in and talk a little bit about some specifics. And the sends would be where were first tackle and that be their number nineteen selection overall, Lassie Thomson, and I'm not I'm not suggesting that he is anything but an excellent hockey player, where the controversy lay was that a lot of people felt like the sense could have scooped him up, maybe later in the draft. But you think had him maybe ranked higher than anybody that I read, why did you have him ranked so high? I really believe that if cough Caufield and crabs fall. In the draft, the Montreal was likely to take Thompson, fifty I've, I'm pretty sure that was that was gonna happen. I know that they like Thompson allot finished second in the whol at Kohl's rookie defenseman. You know he had more goals than. Ty Ty Smith dead. And he wanted to see a gel defenseman of the year knots. Again as a kid coming from Finland the play. It's Thais messed third year. Nia whol, and it was his first in the polling that I did of NHL scouts. He was top foreign both skating manned in shot. So those are two things that you can't teach that are so invaluable to team if you can you can utilize them on the power play which I think he'll be a really good are play guy. But I also think there's the Knox about is defense were bit to, again you have to take into consideration that it was first year playing North America under some judgment to do. They're certainly last year. Econ my right off the bat as sixteen year old when I saw him playing in USA team events against older guys. He was he was excellent defensively playing in Finland. And I think that he'll be. Because of his skating, especially because he plays in aggressive gate. I think his defense will come and the offenses there. So as far as I'm concerned, got one of the, the real gems burst round, I was, I was quite impressed. When they took him ninety there's no question that granted addresses in need for them. Because at right shot d they're a little thin right now, obviously, and but I wanted to address their full need, and I guess I'm gonna get into your, your thoughts about pocket philosophy in twenty nineteen a bit here because. Yeah, they get another get another offense of defensemen to play the right side for them. They've got Jacob Bernard Docker coming on the right side as well. And on the left side, you've already got Shibat brannstrom and will Landon. It seems like a lot of one ingredient as they move forward that this seems to be their foundation for defense in twenty nineteen can you win with all ofensive style defensemen. Or they need to address at some point more of a shutdown guy back there. I don't consider Bernard Docker offense defense. Ohka what you're gonna get with him is the has. I as really reliable solid defensively. None of these guys are overly big. I mean, it's going to be a decent size. But I think the way that the game is trending is that you want off movers enrich retreat, FOX, get the money is all can skate first and foremost, and certainly all those guys can do that. I understand what you're saying. The philosophy for most NHL teases to drought who they think is the best player and that you draft assets in, you can always. Make moves later on maybe couple years down the road. One of these quote unquote offense to can be moved for shutdown guy. For instance, you look at, like, what national was doing for years there. They Ekka defensemen every year, it seemed like in the top programme you wonder, well, there's only so many top for spots for these guys. But what they did was like, even when they had Weber analysis neck home Josie, and even Ryan Suter in the system. They when it was there peck at oral were all picked set Jones because he was the best asset. And an what did they do a couple years down the road? They, they converted that asset into for their first line center by train Verein, you'll Hanson. So he can't have tunnel vision when it comes you have to sort of plight like a chess game where you say okay, this may give us too many right? Defenseman right now. But your job for three four years down the road in the roster's going to be so much different. It's funny. I look back at Montreal's roster for years ago. For instance, enders three players still on the team. So if you can imagine or drafts ago, if they dissent, while a right defensemen, instead of the left because we've got more left defenseman while there's three players from the team from this. So you just take the most player and you collect assets and you work with the men trade them may, the best man win the, the guy that doesn't. Well, maybe you deal. So it's a I think I for most yet as they say, you get the BPA now the sense, second pick was sort of a, a pseudo first rounder because it's basically the first of the second round and they decided to go with Shane Pinto. I thought, Ian bras lands got off a great line on Twitter. He said there's an awful lot of irony here with Eugene Melnyk paying the bills and the sends picking up a new Pinto. And if you're of a certain age you'll know that, that particular brand vehicle. Title had a reputation for exploding on people for a while. Let's talk about Shane Pinto what you know, about him and what the sends may have liked. Yeah. Well, I mean, I don't know if out to L Abe's, you know. Until beans and. I didn't get Pinto beans. Dammit. Yeah. I was hoping that they, it was, there's a goalie named Seville, you know, S A V I. They picked up a pen till now that they needed a Cadillac, but yeah, we'll be here all week, try via ladies and gentlemen. Yeah, it don't start with the nurse. So sorry. What was your question? What, what did the sends like about Shane Pinto in that number thirty two selection? Yeah. He's it's funny. When I did my polling Pinto ended up who I didn't get to see a heck of a lot playing in USA gel. But I did. But I did see about a half dozen games. And you know. You know. I mean he had some good games in bad gains. But what they, they all considered him one of the best defensive forward in which was interesting. You know, when I'm doing my write up and stuff. And yet, yet there's scouts telling me while he's a you know, I. Early in the third type thing you look at all the scout him and you look at all the comments in the considered one of the best defensive forward. Good size, decent skater has some goal scoring ability. You know pretty good protecting the not a lot of flaws in his game. You know even as I write them towards young, the second round. I thought why is in this guy higher? Why do NHL scouts? Not think that he's fifty guy, but I mean because I didn't see him a whole pile. I went with their with their opinions on that and put him in the fifties butts. So it was a little surprised went on a temperament thirty two. But the more I looked at his game as I said there, he could develop into a heck of a decent Vic deserve. I don't think there lot of laws in his game. So as long as he's dedicated to hockey, I think, that's what scared many gel tease was, he's kind of a late late comer to, to, to hockey, he played football baseball basketball stuff to go Merican kin where hockey was really is. You know, sport a choice until about fifty and I guess he obviously was that's what he is best at. That's what he's pursued. So you can look at that two ways while if he's only really took Hakin, seriously req-, three years navy the sky's the limit with this kid that was dedicated sell fully the hockey. He could could be a lot of upside there. So it was an intriguing pick. I think it's a safe pick, as long as he's, you know, he's dedicated to be an NHL player, the, the tools are all their potentials are. So, yeah, I think I think the made a solid choice at last year's draft as you well know, the sins old Colorado, a first round pick. It could have been last year and it could have been this year. What they decided to do was draft Brady Chuck last year. And basically defer to this year. So Colorado ends up with Ottawa's first round this year didn't end up being Jack Hughes like everybody was worried about so that had people kinda resting easier. It does end up being this Bairam kid. What can you tell us about him? And would you rather have cook or Bairam thing? They didn't keep the then they would have had another offense defense. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. Firearms heck of a heck of a prospect, I mean ninety nine game winning goals last year. Six overtime, which set a record on the nuts forwards and defensemen, just real clutch. You know he's he could take games over himself. What were calls say, okay. I'm gonna end it now go in then score goal as far as comparing to them. I love could joke Godoi and at the time I said you, take you take the pet you don't look back out on it in a year in and say while. Geez may we showed him because you don't know who wins the lottery, first of all, and obviously, you know, that's what happened Colorado didn't and weren't. Sure, at the time weather, Carlson will stay in or not really end..

"At their some elite teams that have separated themselves at five hundred. There's there. At this point of the season. There's no way that five hundred should be in a playoff position. Or in the hunt for a playoff spot. You look at the the Eastern Conference, and that's kind of more cut and dried as far as you would expect as far as points and teams being able to separate themselves. The the the wild card cut off in that division to seventy one points in the Eastern Conference or the Western Conference at sixty three points coming into tonight's game is the first spot in the wild card position. Which is the Dallas Stars. You'll take what's going on right now and you move forward, but you don't couple months ago when you were looking at were the Blackhawks were losing I think twenty one out of twenty four twenty of twenty four games during one stretch in one way or the other of overtime points in that what you just didn't expect that five hundred at this point would be in a playoff position. And and it hasn't been in the past in the last twenty years, you know, you're looking at ninety five ninety six points that is not going to happen. You're going to be way below that Mark. Yep. And grant. This this entire Western Conference. It's like every team has ebbs and flows right now. You know, you're seeing a Winnipeg kind of scuffle along right now. And they're probably going to be very aggressive ahead of Monday's trade deadline. Colorado was down for so long losing eighteen of twenty one. But now they've come back and won two of their last three and our winning again tonight. We've seen what Saint Louis has done. And you know, you you certainly hope the Blackhawks continue on this run. But that's that's another part of this equation here where every team no matter how good they are at least in the west that. That's why everything is as stacking this jammed up as it is right now to. Yeah. I mean, you're kinda knocking each other off planned five hundred hockey within the divisions in some ways. And you know, a lot of these teams that we're talking about right now have that ability to win losing and all that kind of stuff. Most of these teams, including the Blackhawks the Anaheim ducks got off to a great start. All they just tanked. And all of a sudden, they're finding a little bit of rhythm. The Colorado Avalanche was the hot. His team in the NHL. They've tanked Minnesota's always been a solid team. And all of a sudden, you know, maybe they're hitting the realization button with Paul Fenton. Trading off one of their core group of young players Charlie Coyle to the Boston. Bruins earlier today for Ryan Tanada who hasn't played a lot in the NHL at twenty two years of age. They get a little bit younger maybe a little bit quicker. But at the same time some of these teams are making some major moves in different directions. Minnesota doesn't look like they're going to be adding looking you know, maybe has a seller moving forward. And it's just interesting to see what happens it's going to be incredibly interesting in my mind. What is going to happen here towards the trade deadline? You still waiting for some of the major pieces of the equation to be moved at this point. But at the same time, I think there's a lot of teams that are looking to see how they can improve their team because there's a lot of teams in the equation to win the Cup this year. And I I would you know, we're we're definitely not in stands shoes. We're not gonna speculate, but Bob, McKenzie did come out earlier tonight. And and he said something that that's very logical right now with the way the Blackhawks have moved back into this thing, if they do if does make any trades. They're going to be you know, hockey trades player for player. In order to if you're giving something up. It's not something where you know. You're trading your way out of this race right now. Yeah. Whether stand does make a move Blackhawks have earned their way back into this thing. And you know, they're not the perfect team by any means, but all credit to them for for doing this going through very emotional coaching change and for Jeremy to get back to the five hundred Mark personally and get this team back to the five hundred Mark says a whole lot. I mean, you look at the character of this core group of guys and you'll Patrick Kane. Getting the job done Jonathan tapes been good. Maybe you look in the equation. You're looking at possibly adding Corey Crawford within the next week or so and that that'd be a big boost to the team. But I think that Bob McKenzie's is, you know, pretty much got a good grasp on what goes on the Blackhawks. I don't think are going to be buyers just even to get into the postseason. You know, they just don't have the assets right now to to make some significant moves to improve the hockey club. And even if you get one guy is that guy going to make the difference for this team as it stands right now to overcome some of the top teams, the upper echelon teams in the in the postseason if you can find a way to get there. I don't think so they've they've. They've kind of. Traded away a lot of the assets over here in the last little while listen, they've won three Stanley Cups. Nobody's going to trade that for anything. You had to make some tough decisions. And you made some major moves it didn't work out and some of those years that that took a lot of the the the prospects out of the equation. He lost some draft picks. So I don't think it's going to be in that mode. And I think that everything that you look at moving forward. Is gonna be a trade that improves the team long-term? Maybe it's a position where you can free up some cap space moving forward to what you wanna do maybe the summer, but I don't think that there's going to be anything drastic one way or the other. But I agree with you and Bob MacKenzie that the smart deals that are there that you could make to improve your hockey club in the future or those those are the type of deals at STAN will make or be looking at. Yeah. As a matter of fact, he has gathered some assets that a lot of the Blackhawks fans are excited about who are knocking on the door next year. Actually the year after that. And I don't think working his way back to that status. You know, it's not going to be something that he he definitely wants to give up. Well, let's move on. As we ask you for your player with the most heart. My jets pizza or you're just pizza player delivered did Alex debrincat scoring his thirty third goal tonight. Is you're picking the Parigi my Marquette Bank guy banked on was Patrick Kane. Once again, it'll be your turn on Friday night. If you want, Patrick, he's all yours. How about your play with the most heart tonight? Well, why why are you being so critical on on my choice? Kidding? Did deliver the cat. He he did delivered Soulard. Patrick kane. I mean the way that these guys have been performing you could pick up about five or six guys right now. And they're probably pretty easy to connect on it. But I gotta give air custody. And they know the player at the most heart of this one picked up the primary the in the overtime. He had three assists in this game. He was plus four in the twenty four plus minutes that he played so tonight's player with the most heart is air. Gustafsen the player with the most heart is sponsored by mercy hospital, cardiovascular services, good call and let you cut you loose have a nice short trip back on the plane. I'm sure it's going to be a fun plane ride back even though probably. Would've been real quiet. One had they lost this game. They'll they'll be a little more happy with the result of this game. Winning overtime. We'll keep our Ryan what's going on in Colorado to the avalanche and jets. We'll see you Friday for the early puck drop. I'm sure hey, it's it's it's almost like a playoff game Friday night. Right. It is. I mean, the playoff spot could be on the line come that game Friday night reminder that they're gonna have Margarita Ville night down there. And I want to get down there. I got to see who these boat drunks are who've been a play there. But I think it's going to be a great atmosphere for anybody wants a little bit of fun and excitement on a Friday afternoon. Get down there early doors open for the atrium at four o'clock and hold off in the Margaritas until post game. Okay. Won't tell anybody. If you don't joy. Thanks a bunch. Great job. We'll see on Friday. Okay. All right. Thanks, chris. Joining us after a Spivey to four Blackhawks overtime victory over the Detroit Red Wings in dramatic fashion. Probably couple wrinkles and grey hairs for some Blackhawk fans along the way, but in the end, they come up with the two points and currently stand in that second wildcard position in the west again, we're taking up until ten o'clock coming up next. We'll take you through the highlights of this one a five four overtime victory in Detroit. You're listening to the post game show on seven twenty WGN. Clogged.

"The experience in the past. And one of those guys is the Steelers offensive line coach, Mike Mancha who is guy who coached the titans from twenty eleven to thirteen and he apparently him in. The Denver Broncos seemed avid thing going, and I didn't realize how much of it thing until I just read this blurred from Bob McGinn. Bob MacKenzie guy was covered the Packers for a long time. And he was talking about the Matt leflore higher out there in Green Bay. So it was originally report the Packers had interviewed mon- check. But Bob McGinn says the Packers apparently never interviewed Mike mon-. Check. He interview with the Broncos Friday. And according to one source has been staying at the home of Denver GM. John Elway since then the assumption is that month check, fifty eight will be the Broncos next coach. So you're telling me Mike, just in John Elway's house like that's just the two grown men like for several days like any towels. Mike good what he eating like this. That's bizarre to me. John Elway's houses as big as Phil Simms. This house. Castle. It's probably got a motor rounded a big wall. Trees you need conditioner. It's so strange. It's all taken care of don't worry about it, by the way. Mike Montek has grandkids out there. Okay. Well, why isn't he around? Then why did you stay in an Elway out? Look. House hang out with them. But then I'd be so freaked out that I do something wrong in that spot. I mean, he could be the head coach of the Denver Broncos. You know, like, the the you use the bathroom does it, stinky, courtesy flushing? I mean, I would be a nervous wreck on sure that John Elway has a house that probably has twelve bedrooms and twenty two bathrooms. So there's probably plenty of places to go to be private, and you don't have to worry about the after math of that. Or does he get a key for the week or right? Does he have to ring the doorbell? I've got many has a guest house. Does he get a car? Does. He John Elway loan MacArthur. The week he'll have all those car dealerships. Yeah. I mean think about this. So when we were going through the whole process here, if you said, you have to stay in my house for a couple of days for me to get the I would be a nervous wreck. I don't know what to do. These are these are football people one's a former quarterback one's a former linemen does so much in communist, not even funny it boomer these worry about these Cheerios off limits or can I where the balls that? Yeah. You mind if I. For the bulls. Do you keep the tinsels do put the stuff in the dishwasher or not? Clogged toilet by accident or something like oh boy. It's sorta like I mean, you gotta believe always gotta staffer, right? I mean, a staff at his house how full stands a hall of Famer two Super Bowl winners. I had all the way car dealerships sold all that. I guarantee you wanna tell me like one guy. Okay. Or somebody in the house. Steph is definitely still doesn't have a family too. Now, that's why I needs to staff run into the kids and stuff and they're like oh sorry. Yeah. And Mike's gonna stay with us for a couple of days. I mean, I don't know. I just seems bizarre to me you have ever be a Mike and his wife staying with them. That's even worse. Then do we have sex? Do we not have sex out all the houses, even miss? I'm telling you. You're telling me, that's not a strange thing. They have four children. Are they still in the house? They're older. Now. I think he's got grandkids. When mom checker Elway. This is Elway. I'm talking about those kids are all there. They're all my age. So all the kids are like cities age they might be back in the house, though. You know, who the hell is this dad? Why do you have to check in a house? Now, I'm sure they're all doing their thing. Believe me. I don't know. Why you get also got up and stuff like is boxers. I don't know. It's really strange. Elway is remarried to a former Oakland Raiders cheerleader. Okay. Hopman? Check doesn't look at her. Appropriately. And ruined his shot me, I wouldn't want. If if if. Stupid snow. No. Because these are the talk yourself into just it's weird, man. I'm telling you any forget about football. Just we like any job thing. It's strange to stay at your potential boss's house for multiple days. The home is a sacred thing. You wanna tell me that he goes to the hotel go to the facility and spend a bunch of days, they go their separate ways back at the house and dinner and TV. And like, no have you told me that somebody who was staying at Mike Brown's house, the owner of the Bengals that would shock me. Yeah. That would really shocked me then you start his players. These are these are guys that played at the same time. They played in pro bowls together, they have a relationship. They've known each other for a long time. You wanna watch bird box tonight. John elway. If you need Netflix just hit this hit this remote. They give me that remote. You have turned. This went on. Rush, right. No, no, no. I don't think it's a whatever he walk run in a robe comfortably. Either one of them like so what is your approach is your approach? I'm gonna make myself as comfortable as possible because that's what I want to show John or is your approach like I better be totally buttoned up at all times house. Sure they've had cocktails together over in Hawaii at the Pro Bowl. I can guarantee you they've been they've been in the business of football. Well after their careers were oversaw. I'm sure that they've running to each other many times at owners meetings coaches meetings, whatever so they've known each other for probably twenty five years. Why is that so weird to you guys? It's like two grown men in interviewing for a job is something I've never heard of. It'd be like if our you had interview, Sean marash right off enough time out time out. Let's say you ran your you went back to Tampa. And you went down there, and you were hired as a PD pushing did what you did. And you wanted to hire some people that you knew to come work for you. And you hired morale. Rash? Or you want to hire more. Actually, brought them down and say, hey, look, just stay at my house for a couple of days. It used to the air. That would never happen. That's probably a bad. That's probably it takes Charrier me. Get a hotel. We'll spend all day together. We gotta go our separate ways. When it's nighttime. I will say that you are a bad example of that. I understand that. So I take that back. So it wouldn't be you. Maybe we'll be you though GIO. I could see you being not not not not a friend. Brian Jones an old from you already worked with Bryan. So bright out to be somebody that you. Maybe that you didn't work with. But you do have a high respect for and a high regard for because maybe you ran into a medic convention or something and used to hang out and talk about things and all that other stuff. Sudden you're in a position to hire somebody, and you want to hire somebody that you're familiar with that may have the same work ethic that you do I still think I still think it's weird to be in the house because then you're not gonna eat it. This is this is a sacred area. Man. Look, John Elway doesn't live in levittown. All right. John. Elway listening very big grandiose. I'm sure gated community. Right. Did fine. If it's so big in so spacious and then ever going to see one another what's the point avenue and a house. Look, they had they had a furnished house with restoration hardware. Nice stuff. They don't have a lot of guests that here's a guests. Come in. You put them in the, you know, the king's sweet. Yeah, he's got a probably a free, standing bathtub. We could soak in a day. Right. Exactly. Which is another decision. You gotta do. I use this day. Do not use the day. My weird to use the day. No, I I when I was a kid. I went to parliament some guy had a bad day and air, and I thought it was the sink. Very well. It does look like a sink. I was a kid. Sink. I thought it was a sink. I was like what does this thing or water? We came out of the bathroom, and it was a big funny. Funny moment right that hitch interface. No, luckily would be funny in the face. And that would have been like a, where's the cameras is perfect? But yeah, I know, but days one of those things I feel like you've really made it if you got one of them, you don't sit on those though, right? You kind of hover. Yeah. I've never. Get you that TOTO. Toilet bowl that has the day with it. But they sounds like a great thing. But it's just my ass. If you have a urinal and day in your bathroom you've made. Oh, yeah. Without a doubt. I could see I could see. Elway having a bad day in a urinal Mike much extra just in. They're using the hell out of staying there. Mike contracts getting packages delivered. They're all sorts of stuff. I mean, I don't think you guys realize, you know, John order pizza. That the level of wealth that John Elway is probably acquired over his life. Mary had all those car dealerships and everything I think he sold all that stuff. Heisman house is a house. They'll man, you're you're where you reside, regardless of how wealthy you are. I mean, that's your home base. That's your stay cred. Airshow did when you were at Hofstra. Did you stay on campus all your commuter? So you've never really had a roommate or and I was before I went to Hofstra. Remember? So close to that roommate not close here from every now and then. Yeah. But not like a Frank Reich is coming to. Visit. He stayed on. My house is my roommate, but you're not interviewing for it's totally different. But these guys have a relationship and they've had a long standing relationship that is not different their friends. They've known each other for a long time. This is a big higher for Elway. It's a big moment for months check. I mean, it's just awkward. I'm sorry. You're not gonna give me to think this is normal thing. It's nuts. Very awkward. I wish we knew this before GIO officially became co host because that would have been great if required. Dow's for a couple of days, we could have Izzo follow you guys around. All that would have been funny because remember how nervous he was when he first got in here that first week. I how do you know how nervous? Now, you're you're nervous. You've said I've read in a call these articles that you give I didn't say it all of us. Yeah. You said you are like you're unsure I never said that either. I mean, it was definitely a I'll say this. If you wanna use the word nerve is a nerve wracking top. Oh. Racking and nervous nets a little different. I think like, I don't know. I I'm always comfortable doing a radio show. But also, you know, all that other stuff. And then there's you on top of it. Make it bad. I mean. I never been in a situation where I felt like I had to please somebody before, you know. That was that was one of those things. How can I make this man happy? I mean, honestly, that's the way I fell house. I gotta I gotta. It was just strange the other spots. I was totally different than I walked out of here that first they announced that don't worry about it. He's just nervous. That's what he said. Al did not say Vicki said the same thing. He just nervous. He's funny. He's just nerves. That's what everybody said housing because you told me Al was totally against my whole thing from the beginning. So I don't even want to ensure nerve he might have said that. No. But prior to that. But prior. Shaped your nervous. And that's probably why hours against you. Right. After the first five, oh, this is never gonna work never gonna work. Yes. So you know, how? Well, I know it doesn't sound like. Today at thousand a year ago. It did. Well, yeah. I don't know if Al had really any idea, you didn't really know who I you had no clue type of guy. I was what I was doing. You really didn't have any didn't know what was going on down that hallway. Right. He didn't care did want to get involved with it. But not only me on the year period. I knew nothing. So that makes me feel better about him being that against me. 'cause he didn't know anything about me. I guess the good thing is though is that you did have a lot of very very ardent supporters. Sure that you don't even know about. Okay. I mean, I probably have an idea because so many people came up to me after I don't wear it. He's nervous. So you you said it was nerve wracking. They said you were nervous. It was also. Yeah. I mean, I want to rehash the whole thing was also really terrible day to try to be funny. You remember the day? It was it was it was when the entire league took a knee after President Trump called them. Whatever. What did he what was the term you call them? You son of a bitch, which is. Which is. And the entirely it. So the whole show is about that. I mean that wasn't a day where it was like, you know, it wasn't gonna make a balloon animal for you. You know, what's going to happen? Think you've ever met warming juggling?.
