"Helm's driving. It's found out. It didn't have antilock brakes. That's really bad. And then what what sponsor prompted my question to you saw the paper were they were right for require from two thousand up on amount of years. I wonder how got one without. If I could call someone at four there's no that's not true. That's not true. What's that the antilock brakes were requirement? Oh there were. No, no. When Bob Lutz when Bob Lutz went back to General Motors after that right in that period. But after that. I want to say two thousand one and all that when he went back. He started cutting things that were base that were standard equipment that he thought people would miss and so as a result. General Motors was the first car company to put analog brakes on everything and Bob made the decision to take analog breaks off the base models of cars. Save money. And I I went on air. I love Bob that I said that's the dumbest thing because you get somebody who had a base model Bala they bought one in ninety seven and had lock breaks. They buy another one in two thousand one without analog breaks. But who's going to think they took that off of a car? I said the first time somebody gets killed thinking they had an lock brakes when they didn't the lawsuits going to cost more than GM would've saved. Right. But you no wonder requirement two thousand four and I'm talking about two so. Yeah. Well, there you go. Option then. I'm sure it was I'm sure it was. I mean GM was using analog breaks for options and their police. Cruisers back in the late eighties. So, but they'll just drive more carefully. That's one of the best things I've ever or car. I've been pitching analog breaks since the eighties. When we when we saw when I started selling Acuras, and they add them. In fact, it was almost impossible to get into trouble. If you had analog breaks, and you were paying attention at all. We're going to be out in the rain. You hit the brakes a little bit too hard on the car lifts up and start spinning all that was gone. But when they first came out the insurance industry gave discounts on them. And then they didn't want to do that anymore. So they came up with the study this said analog breaks don't help at all and accidents. And he looked at the study, and you go. Wow. This is like nonsense because they're saying here's somebody pulling out of a parking space at a mall and they're getting hit. And that numbers the exact same numbers before. So analog brakes don't work really Kazan lock brakes has nothing to do with backing out of a parking space and somebody hitting you. It has to do with foul weather bad road conditions to highest speed and not losing control of the car. So there really fantastic. I just my next question was is it possible to Adam for that? Too much. You know, the often expensive taking awhile. I'm sure it would be extremely expensive. And then you always have the risk of not having any breaks at all. Because whoever did it didn't know what they were doing. Yeah. Yeah..

"In fact a lot of the times it isn't like that you know we we may be on a two lane road where behind a long line of slow moving traffic and there's a double yellow lines on the road we can't pass it becomes frustrating or in urban traffic i mean anybody who's tried to drive up the the the west side of chicago during rush hour you very quickly lose your enthusiasm for driving so when we think of driving we always think of the pleasurable experiences but those are going to be preserved in that automotive country clubs like autobahn in joliet illinois or an one concours up in pontiac these will will thrive and there will be more and more of them so that people who deeply miss the driving experience can continue to to have it albeit on private property and it's it's not like what happened to the horse you know i can't believe you just say that because as you said that i made a note of something that mary barra once said to me paul you might have liked your horse but you can't ride your horse to work anymore along i seventy five you have to go out on a ranch and ride your horse and in the same way you just said it bob let's there will be places like an one concourse closer to here that you can drive your car and still preserve the driving experience they'll be off road like dude ranches for for four wheel fanatics out west where there's a lot of desert land and everything so there will be a cottage industry but that's gonna last maybe a generation or two and and then i think we'll gradually transitioned into a society where people look at old movies of cars on two lane roads crossing each other at sixty miles an hour and the and the kids are gonna say and human spirit those things and you trusted the human that you don't know in the other lane is going to do the right thing on the kids'll say but didn't they kill each other well quite a bit oh bob it's such a pleasure to talk with you okay pleasure i'll talk to you again soon off the air you take care all righty bob lutz on wjr with.
