"Kyle Griffin of the last word. He's producer. He said, the son of retiring Republican, congressman Bob Goodlatte is incurring voters to back a democrat running to replace him, and then following up on that from the sun himself. Bobby Goodlatte says, I'm deeply embarrassed that Peter strokes career was ruined by my father's political grandstanding. That committee hearing was a low point for congress. Thank you for your servicer. You are a patriot? Yeah. The story about that. So this Goodlatte son, Bobby Goodlatte announced on Twitter on Sunday that he'll be donating to the democrat running to replace his father, and he hopes to flip for Ginny six district quote, I just gave the maximum allowed donation to Jennifer Lewis democrat running for my father's congressional seat. I've also gotten five other folks to commit to donate the max. Two thousand eighteen is the year to flip districts. Let's do this. This, and by the way Lewis supports Medicare for all fifteen dollar minimum wage and marijuana legalization and jeeze running against Republican Ben, Cline dog. Yeah. I don't know why I said that. I've never said that. Dog. Okay. What am I like eighty? Okay. The hill had a story aids regularly tell Trump not to call foreign leaders and on our studio time zones. And the quote I have is former national Security Council staffers White House sources told, politico that the president's foreign affairs knowledge is lacking any one meeting Trump allegedly mispronounced Naple as nipple and Bhutan as button to sources told politico, Tim O'Brien of MSNBC, and Bloomberg then tweeted this, you say, Naple I say, nipple, and then one Trump made up the country of non via Rabia to he confused Iraq and Syria after bombing. The loan. Three, he confused north and South Korea. He did. Yes, four. He called Belgium, beautiful city. As he did that and five. I never knew there were so many countries and he said that to God. I'm so embarrassed. I am humiliated. Hey world. We are so sorry, we are all not like this. Honestly, really office. We really truly are. Yeah, boy. Oh boy. Oh boy. Syracuse your own. I'm one third of the way down. We are moving along. Now, Sarah cans, you're I have three tweets from her that she did a little thread here tended. I just thought it was interesting. She says, now you can end she specializes is in in the whole Russia storing things really into this. And she's been sounding the alarm for some time with high intelligence I might add is very smart. And she says, now you can add Peter Struck to the politically motivated firings of officials who spoke out about Trump's corruption and elicit dealings with Russia. This is a slow motion purge, and it will not spare anyone outside Trump's inner circle which will become smaller over time, which is by the way how he wants it. She goes on to say, Trump like any autocrat aims to rewrite the law so that he can break it exactly as he as he purchased the officials who investigate corruption. He packs courts with judges who will exonerate him regardless of evidence. That's really important. Everybody. Yup. Now that what he's Admiral to do very, I'm sorry. That's what he's trying to do with his packing of the courts. Yes. I mean, this is something that will last generations. So even if we get some good, decent people in offer into office, they will still be affected by these court decisions. They all the way up to the supreme as Yup. So poopie and this is the last of her three, this erosion of Justice and accountability is an entirely predictable consequence of having a crime family in the White House. This is a dynastic clip talk Crecy and the longer they are in the worse. It will get those who still have the power of the law need to use it. Now we all capitalizes now. Yup. Did you hear the Trump's talking about what a natural Don Jr. is at this campaigning stuff? Oh, he's he's very much in demand. People are asking him to do speeches and do campaign on a events with them. Yes, he is the up. Incoming Trumpy food. Danny. House to vote on opioid bill this week

"Those members in meetings for the last few weeks and making a lot of headway and i think number one it's been productive that we are trying to get to a agreement on a bill that we can bring forward that could get two hundred and eighteen votes we're not there yet but i think we're moving a lot closer in exchange we would also make sure there would be no discharge petition thing your odds are that there is not a discharge petition whether or not they i don't think they're going to get a discharge petition and you just saw dennis ross come out saying he won't sign a discharge petition and i know i talked as well as other members of our leadership team talk to dennis about his concerns and i think it was important that he and others that we have spoken to that we're going to sign that ultimately didn't sign the discharge petition so you competent that won't happen tonight it sounds like i'm a very hopeful it won't cost more more the more i think the bigger issue is that there are very productive talks that are going on to try to get an agreement amongst republicans on how to solve this problem that was created by barack obama i remember barack obama's the one who said come to america illegally bring your kids to america illegally we're not going to try to solve the problem we'll just look the other way and let somebody else fix it that was house majority whip steve scalise earlier today in washington if they do move to the discharge petition four bills that could emerge from it would range from a conservative bill led by house judiciary committee chairman bob goodlatte republican of virginia to the dream act the house is slated to spend the entire week voting on legislation to address the nation's opioid epidemic including expanding the food and drug administration's authority to intercept and seize illicit drugs such as fennel from entering the united states through the us mail with a total of thirty four bills the house is slated to vote this week and next including four bill packages that the house ways and means committee says carries bipartisan support one bill under consideration that remains controversial it's hr twenty eight fifty one would create a new class on.

"Well here comes joe senators graham in durban took the proposal to the white house where the washington post reports they were surprised to find immigration hardliners such as congressman bob goodlatte and senator tom cotton white house in capitol hill aides told the post that aids stephen miller was concerned there could be a deal proposed that was to liberal so he major conservative lawmakers were in the room when they discuss protecting immigrants from haiti el salvador an african countries several post sources briefed on that meeting claim president trump said this quote why are we having all these people from asshole countries come here except he of course use the word president trump pen suggests that the united states should instead bring more people from countries like norway whose prime minister he had just met with on wednesday a democratic aide confirmed the language to nbc news to sources briefed on the conversation tell nbc news president trump also said quote why do we need more haitians take them out someone else in the room responded because if you do it will be obvious why so joe the white house did not deny as i said the president's reported comments when it issued a statement from principal deputy press secretary roger shop quote certain washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries but president trump will always fight for the american people at went on the president will only accept an immigration deal that adequately addresses the visa lottery system in chain migration to programs that her our economy and allow terrorists into our country so not denying that even addressing the comments i'm not sure what it meant to say that there are members of congress who are working and fighting for foreign governments but that aside for a moment but just your first reaction to the president's alleged comments well of course there's so many reactions first of all this was a president for so it's just so deeply offensive i can't imagine any other president.

"From npr and wbur i'm robin young i magna trucker bharti is here and now congress is scrambling to find a solution for dakar the obama era program that shields hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants from deportation several groups of lawmakers are huddling today to find a legislative fix one proposal would grant daca recipients legal status renewable every three years along with 30 billion dollars in funding for a border wall and other things republicans have long wanted such as a worker verification program republican representative bob goodlatte of virginia cosponsors the bill welcome good to be with you well first of all let me just ask you about what the president said yesterday about your bill he didn't executive position on it he said it's a start so are you concerned that he hasn't yet thrown his full support behind your bill very much like our bill and a very serious effort to address what the president have challenged the congress to do and value do daca right and we do that in this legislation but we also honour uh the commitment the president may two couple it with uh securing our borders and uh ending chain migration so the anticipated the president said that it's a starting point for negotiations but it seems as if there are other republicans who have concerns about the longterm viability of your bill i mean i'm seeing that representative charlie dens of pennsylvania says that the house needs to pass a bill that could get some three hundred votes and he doesn't believe your bill is it because it's too hard line there's no bill at the house that could get three hundred vote a very easily so we are very happy to negotiate from this bill that i think will have broadbased support within the republican conference and then what about as it might move to the senate because i think that that's the concern that without without adequate support in the house that it wouldn't survive the senate well that's why there.

"Well they're pushing bag and republicans say this is absolutely not an effort to discredit robert muller and certainly not an effort to discredit the fbi they say could just trying to get to the facts learn what happened last year and said that look it we just want to get to the bottom of exactly what happened and mccabe coming today will be the first witness as part of this new investigation by these two committees here's what mark meadows told me earlier today there's not a concern in terms of trying to discredit the special prosecutor that has been not only establishment continues to investigate and so robert muller is not a subject of armed us count how'd you reactive the president took steps to get rid of robert muller he's not i've talked to the president he's not and i would i ask the house judiciary chairman bob goodlatte earlier about the democratic criticism that they're focusing on the muller the clinton email issue he said look this is something we announced a couple of months ago this is the investigation of we're going to do looking at the fbi interference possible fbi bias and that's why we're looking into this right now he says the first of several witnesses they wanted to interview will monitor thanks very much mirage you up on capitol hill are joining us now democratic congressman eric small little of california is a member of both the intelligence and judiciary committee's congressman thanks for joining us of course little thanks from the back of your committee chairman of the house intelligence committee chairman devon noon as he tells cnn it's not a secret his words that we of an investigation into the justice department you serve on that committee so who is participating in this new knows.

"It seems like they're caught between the thinking of they can't go into 2018 not having done anything a big legislatively but then being uh veering towards this bill that doesn't seem like it's going to work for them so while in 2018 what is that thinking there among the republican senators and the an beyond it's this really urgent need to get of major legislative accomplishment and republicans out of everett it exactly admit robotic as a very little excuse they have the white house they have the santa even the divest luxury republican congressman last week who said to me uh you know we said to the voters just give us the house in we will fix things and they give a thousand we didn't as a while just give us the sent two and then we'll get everything together and they did and will then we said to them okay will give you give us the presidency to them will take care of it and now we've got all of it and this is a republican congress set bob goodlatte from from virginia uh who is voting for all the stuff and he said no that's where they are they need to figure out some way through this and the fact that i mean republicans aren't necessarily the party of health care and you saw them struggle with obamacare repeal but if republicans can't cut taxes what is the gop do is that this was in so many ways of must win four the gop they are about to get that political victory they believe that this is something that they can go home and how to their voters uh you do remember that these tax changes you probably won't see them until they do their taxes for 2019 although the administration says the taxpayers will start to see bigger paychex and just a matter of months so who knows what voters will actually see and feel and that's really up to republicans to go home and taught that a message that derive what's he which i mentioned with serb at it for himself from him when she came with her thanks for having me.

"The dream act as it's currently proposed uh includes a pathway to citizenship for dreamers and i would be very surprised if democrats or dreamers would accept anything less than that but there may be considerable pushback on the republican side to the notion that you would reward these young people with citizenship so that could become and a thorny issue uh not to mention the fact that for example uh bob goodlatte who from virginia the the uh congressman who is the chairman of the house judiciary committee he today welcomed a president trump's moves in initiatives on this to cancel the program and turn it back to congress but i don't think that good goodlatte is a friend of a full board dream act uh and so he his idea for example of what kinds of protections congress might provide might be much more reduced than what most democrats would be able to swallow so this is a very complicated political proposition that the president is proposing to congress and as we've seen he's not inclined to provide much leadership when these on this kind of legislation that's very complicated what do you think will help and just as the last question i mean it's hard this does create a sticky situations republicans in congress as you say the program is popular they don't look good by not acting by killing it they may be between iraq and a hard place but what sir what's up politically palatable outcome for them well you know i guess we can all.
