"About people making threats and get this turning. So when they named you think they should name names? Yeah, do you? Yeah, I think they should name names and say, Yeah, if Hayden Stearns was told by an alum nous in alum by adult, you know a booster. You're not going to work in the state of Texas. If you do this, If you don't stand you call that guy out. We don't have caved in on the horn are the phone fright town or another show, but If you would you ask him that I mean, Yeah. Do you think he's not doing that to, you Know, save the university. But at the same time if you're saying that, I think by saying that yesterday too, you bastard. Uh, dis situation became bigger when he said that because everybody picked it up on the wire services and ESPN. You made it a bigger deal. And if he should, he should probably name names or Yeah, should name names. Was I was threatened that I'd never work in the state of Texas again. Right? By Ed Clements. No, I'd never hear that at Clement's Are you, Pete? Are you trying to say that? Maybe you don't believe him? Because out of all this is serious question, though. I just think you're going to go that far. Well, then how does real change come about? If you're if you're trying to, you know, blow up the place on your way out and everything and say this stuff and if it if you really felt that way Don't know why you wouldn't at this point. Agreed. Yeah, because it just It just puts a bomb out there that oh, this it's and in my heart of hearts. I do believe of what Ed would say, or the words of J. Hartzell that the vast majority of lifetime Longhorn members or supporters or I can't say the best part of the majority of boosters because I haven't minimal but Fuel the opposite feel like we do and, you know, think that there should be conversations or at least you know that is important language, and there's no place for it. No matter how much money you have, and there's no place for people writing those football players and You know, death threats and all that. That's what I'm saying. There's no no place in that. Yeah, I agree. It's just, you know, you don't do that. You just don't do that. I have found that rich, powerful people oftentimes think that their opinion counts more than the other. Non rich, powerful. Well, I'm not surprised, but she the deal is Sports of Beauty is a separate entity from the University of Texas. To me, it's sports incorporated, and that corporation that operation is run by donations with rich alumni has a for profit business. And this was a business decision to keep the size of Texas because they knew and they know J. Hartzell knows this. Steve Sarkisian really knows this. The board of Regents know this. If you say no, we're eliminating as a Texas A lot of money is going to disappear. A lot of money is going to disappear. Short term for sure that a long term we've debated that mood. New money come in because of that. Who knows? But But the capability to give the big money lies with the older alum and older boosters. It is it is very interesting weather Bitcoin money going to start flowing into the university. You know what? What happens with that? What the band decides to do, Because this year they had the whole pandemic. We can't have them out there. We don't know if we have the The instrumentation technology to safely do this next year is gonna be 100%. They're going toe. If the band is there and says we don't play the song we're gonna be playing the song off the tape next year that without all all hick will break out if that happens if the law if the band and played and there on the field and Bob Dole says, Listen to this recording, you know I'm Bob Gold. It's a pretty good, Bob cold. It was It was not bad, but that. Yeah, see, there's so many hurdles. Still, that's gonna gonna happen. You should contact the university. Tell him you do a good Bob Cole, For 60% of the money under Cutem acted even. And I do the stripper got basketball to Lockhart. Yeah. Basket by brown. I love that guy that plummets. "Brother Chris involved. Three pains in a pod. If you really like our content is a great way to get even more in depth with a lot of these topics, but I know Bob, you and I've been talking a lot about taxes. Right now. We're talking a lot about how do you had your portfolio against inflation, and that's kind of like, what's on everyone's mind right now. Well, you know, right? I had something happened the other day. I don't know if you remember the famous story of the Joseph Kennedy is the father of President John F. Kennedy back right before the market crashed 1929. The guy was shining. His shoes was giving him tips on stocks. And that was a big red flag for him to sell everything and get out of the market. Well, I just bought a bathroom rug the other day and the rug salesman who I've known for a number of years. Told me about a great deal in this new crypto coin that selling and pennies on the dollar. So I don't know about you, but I just don't think that's a by signal. I think that might be the historical cell signal when it comes to this Bitcoin and crypto currency. Tell me Bobby didn't put you didn't put all your net worth in the Bitcoin or whatever Crypto currency was recommended to you the other day. You're telling me that you didn't take this advice. Well, you know, that wasn't about crypto right? One thing about Bitcoin is I don't know anything You can buy with it. So it's It's not a currency. It's not a steward value. Remember in 2018? It didn't go down a little bit. Went down 80% in one year when the stock market went down last year Market one down 35% for five weeks and so did crypto sort of Bitcoin. So You know, right? I don't really know what it's good for other than making people money on the premise of the greater Fool theory. That's right. I'm hoping that I'll buy. It's another fool buy from you at a higher price later, and you know it's It's funny because one of the arguments about Bitcoin is it's the new gold, right? You know, instead of owning gold I want on Bitcoin. Well, here's the dirty little secret about gold, Bob Gold, a horrible investment If you look at it, I look at stats going back from 18 36. All the way up to the present day. And if you look at the return on gold, it's just 1.1% a year after inflation. Now compare that to stocks, which have done something like 7.4% a year compared that to even long term Treasury bonds, which have done more like 2.9% a year, and there's very little volatility there. The truth is gold. A horrible investment. Well has been again this year, right down 10% already year to date. We have the stock market on average up anywhere from 4 to 20%. So it's been a terrible investment. Always supposed to be this hedge against inflation. Well, I'm seeing inflation everywhere and gold's going the other direction, so I don't know. Maybe maybe the trends not your friend when it comes to golden Bitcoin. But as you and I know, in one thing, and he's really important right now, especially if you're sitting in cash. You know who you are right now. One of the questions get very often is well, you know, what are we going to do if cost of living goes up inflation kicks in. And again sitting in cash is one of the worst places you could be being in a currency is not the best place to be. Period is we know about stocks? They've averaged 7.4% a year. One of the best ways to grow your money over inflation, our dividend paying stocks. All right. First of all the reason the stock market is a hedge against inflation. It's good stocks aren't pieces of paper there actually backed by real assets, right. They owned the buildings. They own the equipment. They owned that you know the Lear jets that fly the executives around. They're backed by real stuff, and because they work hard, and they increased their business every year, their earnings grow, their profits grow, and as a result, we will pay a higher dividend. So you need something that can grow in order to overcome inflation. The other article you're you send me this week. Bob, which was very disconcerting was about the $4 billion tax increase. We're looking to get here in New York and made me think about just how much taxes they're probably going up on a federal in a local level over the course of this couple years, and just how vigilant we're gonna have to be With our tax strategies for our clients. Yeah. You know what I love about our government. You know, it's like, Hey, things are really bad. Let's raise taxes at some point. You know you're gonna lose your tax base. But what it does point to is that taxes are inevitable. You have to be certain that you have a portfolio that structured Pay the least amount of tax you need. What I call a tax efficient strategy You want to ask yourself is is your financial professional talking to your tax professional? Because that's the one thing. It's funny. You and I got a call. With accounting for a new client the other day, and you count couldn't believe he was shocked to hear from us. He's like, You know, your client was working with Bank of America for the last 15 years, and I never talked to them. All I know is taxes were triggered every single year. And it just blows my mind and on that conversation, but we probably figured out five different items proactively we could do from attacks perspective that was going to save our client a ton of money, and no one even took the time to even address there. That's a big deal. You know, It's really a big deal, right? You have to have A financial adviser Fiduciary who's actually paying attention to what's going on? Yeah, if you're thinking yourself right now, No one's talking me about tax strategies. No one's talking to me about the upcoming inflationary pressures and tax pressure that are coming down that I need to be a planning for. Well, Here's your shot to do it. We literally have five slots left..

"L a business journal local radio cave eu in in las vegas saying how wonderful the book is that's a lot more powerful than me saying it it's i think they work in tandem but if i had to pick one or the other i would i would pick pr again it's it's my bias as well i picked pr for social media by a wide margin and it's not just one article at several articles but i'd like social media as an accelerator rather than originator because it just gets a lot more attention it brings a lot more credibility i know there are people like yourself and your agency that do a fantastic job of extending the reach of brands and helping them find a voice and i think that's incredibly valuable what you do i don't think everyone can do it and i don't think a lot of entrepreneurs and small businesses they would have to hire someone like you or like me to get the word out but i think just saying this kind of lottery model like that's my struggle do you sit at a lottery like in a world where you can really focus in for example i could read an article today about the reason why digital marketing is better than i could then target it specifically to brands that i might want to have as clients i could promote it in different ways i could i could do so many things with it versus hoping that the industry trade picks it up and publishes it in six months and so i don't know why why you go in that lottery the lottery thing that's sort of one percent viral ninety nine percents useless where i'm like i don't i just don't feel like that like at all i'm trying to that's my real grapple here understood let me go back to what happened about two years ago and this happened to me and if you other period our agencies i was talking about a lot of us we had a bad slump about two or three years ago and after talking with my friends seth jacobson bob gold and a few other periods and sees we came to the conclusion that a lot of our clients were letting go and saying you know what we're just going to post on facebook we're going to post on twitter we're going to have our own channel and this we're going to do more lincoln and that's going to be just as good as being in the traditional media or the online media or even the digital media in for a lot of us we had a one or two your slump in the pr industry the last year last eighteen months almost everyone i talked to has more clients than they can handle in the reason being is a lot of these and i most of my clients preps are in higher education i have a spiritual client have technology client but most of my businesses in higher education so from that viewpoint a lot of these colleges universities medical schools engineering schools came to the conclusion that posting things online didn't get them as much bang for their buck in as much attention as much credibility as being in the major media or even being in the minor media and you don't think it's just the function of the fact that much in the way traditional advertising agencies struggle to during that period that in the past couple years more these agencies have sort of smartened up and start their digital skills and are sort of fishing where the fish are like that's what i as a digital agency that was once a blue ocean i now much feel the bloody red sea of competition pr agencies and all those again as it is euro some game where it's just going back where they want not what i find interesting is they want this sort of let's do this national or bigger brand coverage but these bigger brands is more national brands are seeing shrinking markets they're seeing tougher readership audiences it doesn't seem to be an area that's i mean last week this sort of big the big sort of slide that i'm going to pull out by tech what is the fact that you know netflix subscribers now surpassed cable subscribers so we're just seeing this shift so that's why i'm surprised as it because they wanna be in traditional.
