"Well, who did you see in the vicinity? And the person says while I saw Bob Barr, he was walking through the park, and I saw Lars Larson, his granddaughter. They were walking through the park that gathering that is a violation because when I'm out in a public place open to the public, I don't have an expectation of privacy. Do I? Well, you put your finger as usual, Lars on precisely the issue that they courts have been grappling with, uh, with, uh, with particular he ever since, uh, phones came into common usage back in the 19 twenties. Really? Uh And that is Do you have an expectation of privacy in whatever location and time you are, And that really is is the question that the courts grapple with I don't think it's really the appropriate question. Do you have an expectation of privacy with a lot of the situations? They say? Well, okay, you have you opened an account at a bank. Therefore you have no expectation of privacy, but that information is private. So the government says we can go get that from the bank. We can force the bank to give it to us simply because you have forfeited your expectation of privacy by opening that account. Ah, this is the problem when should travel down that path? Oh, and the courts have been far too lenient with law enforcement in recent years, Lars and letting them surveil people when you are gather information when you really do have an expectation of privacy. You know if you're walking down the street No, I mean the law is very clear as it should be. You don't have an expectation of privacy. If the police see you And they see you committing a crime. Uh then that's fair game. You're out in public. Not okay, Congressman. What if a video camera sees me? Because video cameras are ubiquitous these days, not one held by a person. But the video cameras that Aaron ever almost every public place these days. Do I have an expectation that the police cannot get that video and say Lars Larson was here after midnight walking right by the scene of the crime is that also off limits like the cell phone data? Well, that's uh, that's an issue that really is not yet resolved. What the the these cases you know, they take a long time to work their way up through the district courts. The trial court the Court of Appeals and then finally gets to the Supreme Court. The mayor might not take the case. So these air still to some extent, unresolved issues, but I I have I have some real problems with the you call it the accurately the ubiquitous video cameras, Uh, hold that thought for a second congressman will come back after the after the break. I just want to get the congressman's comments on the video cameras because I find that one especially in the Lord's Laursen show. It's me your bathroom, medicine cabinet. I see you naked. Know how often you floss watching? Pluck unsightly hairs. I can keep a secret. But you need to know your kids have been taking your prescriptions to get. I couldn't keep it quiet..

"Our guest former Georgia congressman Bob Barr who posted a most interesting article at town hall dot com and as we get back to our calls I'd like you to just to give us such a synopsis of this article titled China spends billions to buy silence of the American left the that's an intriguing headline it's it's reflected I think Jim and much of what we're seeing in the the media these days with the if people take in taken umbrage at president trump's closing off travel with China early on in the and this pandemic and his references to the Chinese are Wuhan virus yeah that was great that pushed back against that by people in academia and the leftist media and even people and the business community particularly over on the left coast part of the reason why we see this push back against any effort by the administration to draw attention to what China is doing and to hold China accountable is because one of the areas in which China has invested heavily here in the United States it's not just for commercial rate purposes it's to buy influence so the reason that that the Chinese have invested heavily in the entertainment business and communications radio and TV is because they know that that will give them influence over it the influencers in our society and part of the reason why the Chinese give huge grants to schools like Harvard and and other universities a lot of a leftist a northeastern liberal universities is because they know that people for better for worse people listen when Harvard speaks it still is considered a pre eminent that top notch university so China gives them hundreds of millions of dollars and in return these universities engage and pro China research pro China publication and pro Chinese comment I was about to say and they really think were that simple minded and then it occurred to me that maybe they're not entirely wrong okay David in Creston Iowa hello David login there right they are dumb I mean these people are gullible over here and you know I've always thought this but I didn't know really how to put it but because these people have a lot of people over there they are just looked at a figure of disposable okay they got from Marcia so many black population or they don't care where they live many people as we lost over here you know what their their goal is to rule the world and we haven't realized that and there for people like the Europe earlier gasket they come over here we should never school we deal more technology they take it back and they're smiling and grinning and take a look what we've got now so you know we don't see the back the back swing in the back room of discussions and all that stuff but believe me it's there I've known it for a long long time but I just didn't I just wanted United to wake up you know what well I would certainly hope that that we would David like I guess to to comment I certainly I don't think that the Chinese intended two would damage their own economy they're they're people I'm sure they do consider one point six billion to be more than they need anyway but the damage to the economy I'm sure that was a major snafu but from that point on you have so very calculated moves on the part of the Chinese Bob nothing that the Chinese government does is it by chance it's not coincidence they ARE very they're very clever and they're not dumb they are calculating they take the long view of their relations with the US and other countries so they're not they didn't deliberately released this this virus in their country no I mean we don't yet know precisely how it was in fact released how it got out into the general population in Wuhan China and then from there to Europe the United States and pretty much every other continent except Antarctica but we do know that the way the Chinese government to handle that by tamping down accurate information by not letting information out by allowing people to leave China knowing of the the the the way this virus can can migrate from person to person and from animal day I originally animals to humans they knew exactly what they were doing but they did not let on because one they don't want to admit the Chinese communist government never wants to admit that it is weak and that it has made a mistake or an error in judgment secondly they don't really care that much if a particular a release a virus or other event harms the west that actually fits into their long term interests of weakening the west of the United States and Europe it is remarkable that they thought they I guess they could keep this quiet I mean it I mean it the idea that the the nobody would find out that they had shut down internal China travel in China for a move on but flights out of China for a move on the more the merrier how did they think they could get away with that well today's obeyed thought they could get away with it yeah because the west generally speaking whether it's Europe or the United States generally KZN and does not stand up to them they have miscalculated with regard to president trump and I think even some of the European governments that have become very very pro Chinese and allowed the Chinese to buy up large chunks of their economy liked out talents have even some of the European governments are now pushing back but the Chinese out thought they could get away with it because they have in the past consistently gotten away with slapping the west around and watching the U. S. and the western European countries just back down and say thank you Sir may I have another service our remarkable all right more to come one eight six six five oh Jimbo one eight six six five oh five four six two six with former Georgia congressman Bob Barr and a look at the extent to which China is buying silence in this country and they're doing so almost at a a time honored to capitalist way of sorts one eight six six five oh Jimbo and back on the ball had a show with your thoughts in a moment you must be broken no hot water and you don't know what to do when your heart.

"That was Bob Barr the Attorney General on with a lorry a group which is a pretty fascinating comment twenty five down to the top of the hour eight hundred nine four one Sean if you want to be a part of the program we're gonna get into the issue of China and how they should be held accountable at the top of the next hour I'm one of the things I'm I really want to figure this out because I'm getting very concerned about the sheer volume the dollars that are involved now I think most Americans there is general consensus that without the travel ban and subsequent travel bans remember the first travel ban with China was ten days after the first identified case a corona virus in the U. S. it would be so much exponentially worse had the president not made that Xena phobic hysterical fear mongering decision that Joe Biden called it at the time and two months and three days later that endorsed the late Joe I'm but it would have been so much worse how many tens of thousands of Americans likely would have contracted this virus had the president not taking that bold step it's incalculable how many America more Americans would have ended up dying he wasn't taking it seriously Bollywood people weren't taking it seriously with the Democrats that were in the middle of their impeachment witch hunt they were not talking about this L. Nancy Pelosi the end of February come to Chinatown hang out here March second Andrew Cuomo arrogantly say off if you don't mind I'm a New Yorker and as a New York I get so we're not like those other countries are medicine so much better well now it's better not with no thanks to you you rejected your own task force recommendations for ventilators that you'd be short fifteen thousand seven hundred eighty three than screaming that Donald Trump send me ventilators well that was even in your own report they said that was your responsibility something F. foreseeable predictable moment peak week this week which they turned turned out thankfully we didn't need all of them but the hospitals were built by trump they're being staffed by trump the medical equipment including the ventilators and the N. ninety five respirators and the gals in the mass in the gloves and a face shields and everything in between yeah they all came from Donald Trump and the many hospitals being built not only in New York but around the country and the navy ships been sent at least at least you get a thank you elevar Gavin Newsom has been actually shown some pretty decent leadership for him and I don't agree with him on much of anything and as he pointed out he suing the president got like sixty eight lawsuits against the president but the main focus I think now is how do we get rather than spending more money how do we get the economy up and running now as I've been and how do you do it safely how do you get people back to work but do it in a way that safe so the predictable rebound is not going to result in another nation wide shut down now it's less challenging in more open areas with number one covert nineteen is not that prevalent a problem there parts of the country that's that's the case a social distancing well based on the geographical spacing of people it's it's a lot easier to do that you can open parts of the country up right now now if you want your grocery store shelves filled you want your pharmacies filled you got I have people all along the supply chain working and there is a it's not this big analysts well of money that the government is going to be able to provide two point two trillion these are uncharted waters four trillion made available by the fed in loans that's on charter now when you get to the the heavily concentrate well let's say small geographic areas with the highest concentration of people how do you open New York City that is going to be new normals we've been talking about this is a transformational period how we deal with pandemics I would say travel bans are going to be instantaneous that'll be the norm quarantine same thing I think on issues involving public private partnerships same thing getting rid of FDA rules and regulations to help with treatments and that would mean right to choose and decide on your own what medicine you're reviewing your doctor choose you want to take compassionate care all of these things all transformational I think you're gonna see telehealth be a big part of any real health care solution but the answer to me lies in testing and I've been talking all day about abit they've done this incredible job and they have eighteen thousand of these ID now tests that are out there it's called abit ID now Colbert nineteen test note you get positive if you have positive results in five minutes negative results in thirty minutes the great part is that they're going to be able they expect to produce about two million tests per month now the question is if you want to open New York City how vital can this testing B. in the end by the way even if you're only bringing in essential employees for the time being and teleworking is now or at least in the near future going to be a part of reality how do you get essential workers in and get amend safely and not have to worry about shutting down the city again I think the answer is going to be testing anyway a GOP leader Kevin McCarthy is with us congressman how are you I'm good and I could not agree more with you think about for one moment had the president not taken that action that more Chinese would have been in America the rest of the country would look like what New York is going to right now unfortunately I mean he saved millions of lives but you could take that one step further could you imagine what the world would look like and president xi approach of the communist China did not lie to the rest of the world ninety five percent of this never would happen they lied to everybody and it changed the course of history well I think look and I'm gonna get into this at the top there here's the thing out like I had to give a lot of props to you know all these companies are quest diagnostics lab for Walmart may Hargett CVS Walgreens I mean all these great places they've done a great job and now Abbott came up with this incredible test now there's about eighteen thousand of these units already in circulation but how do we how do we mass produce this that isn't actually would be the case yeah because this is what we have to start talking about put America back to work it may be it's in ways maybe it's in pockets but that's where we have to get abit now has a test it takes you less than ten minutes I actually took the test is in vision like a Q. tip ring around each nostril three times I got the remittances it goes into the machine and it tells you in ten minutes what your positive or negative there are a number of machines already that are sitting in doctors offices that from abit that test you would maybe have strep throat or something that same machine can be used already they're making of the film the parts right now what fifty thousand a day they were they're going to mass produce that so you can test that but there another chance coming for other companies but Abbott has one to a blood test if you have already have this you may have it and never had any symptoms may not know that you had it what a doctor felt she will tell you you may be amusing for a while that's a work force they can go back to work so if we had you're correct on testing is a blood test if these companies have this test within ten minutes they know you're safe you go where we could start part of the country back up by that way that's who these are the things you got to start planning for for how you gonna start this conceiving I think it could be a combination number one you bring it for businesses let's stay with New York for a second because that would be the most challenging area eleven million people small geographical area okay so that would to me okay if you identify in every New York building who are the essential workers for that building are they may be but I know it sucks but I mean the poor while for period for time you can you know the employees that do come in my wanna wear gloves and masks social distancing okay because half the work force is working from home and the other half is in the building but if if every building in New York to get one of these Testor or ten of these tests to make you go by faster ascential employees coming into the building okay that that they had we have to protect the civil liberties their medical privacy their constitutional rights but if they can do it anonymously they get the test they get the results if it's positive they get your toll go home whilst will talk to you again in fourteen days if and go get the care that you need but if not you're good you're filling the building up of people that are negative well that would then open up even a city like New York but you're gonna need millions of these machines and we don't have millions how do we get them built quickly well that's what we got to work with added another manufacturers to be able to provide this and build this the other thing you have to do is if somebody is found positive we've got to be able to treat them and and put them get them out of the area with everybody else and technologies allows us to do that with the same time protecting your civil liberties I think that is something we need to look at as well protesting the removal and treatment of the individual so they don't multiply we know how contagious this can be I mean look at the difference between New York and California and we both have one of those navy ships you also can look between the governors we both have liberal governors in these two states but you've got Gavin Newsom who is praising president trump and Mike pence on how well the federal government has worked with them there are ways that we can open up certain pockets I believe if we do have the testing and do have the ability to remove somebody who is sick so here's the question I.

"So we're talking politics tonight. It looked if you're around today, and you working you missed it, thankfully. But if you like me. Mansi we had to watch a lot of the by testimony, by the way, Bob Barr is a Bill bar is not going to testify tomorrow in front of the house. And the reason for that. I believe is that the democratic majority wanted their staff to be questioning the attorney general cabinet member. Now, he said, no. And of course, that'll be the controversy tomorrow. But tonight. If you missed the testimony of Bill bar just give you a quick little sense of it here. Here's here's one of the soundbites that he talked about. Bob Muller being concerned this quoting now bar bars position. Okay. So Muller, obviously has the right to contradict him. We'll have the ability to contradict him. He saying that that Muller was not upset with him. But Muller was upset with the way the press. Coverage had come out. Can you go back, and you can remember the all of a sudden member they carry the the copy of the report? Show them they carry that to the White House and then bar said take a few days by the weekend. But I'll have a quick quick analysis of what the bottom line. So he did that four page bottom line report. And then they said we're going to get the full report we're going to get the full report. And the question over the reductions, you ma'am, how that again these these dramas play out unless you follow them a day-to-day basis, they can kind of blurb. So this was this is Bill bar today. Talking about how that Bob Muller was upset, but he was upset with the media coverage more than at least from bars perspective more than from what bar had released a what bar had had written in released. I offer. Bob Muller the opportunity to review that letter before it went out and he declined on Thursday morning. I rec- I received it probably was received at the department Wednesday night or evening but on Thursday morning. I received a letter from. Bob the letter. That's just been put into the record. And I call Bob and. You know, what's the issue here? Are you can I asked him if he was suggesting that the March twenty four th letter was inaccurate. And he said, no. But that the press reporting had been inaccurate. Okay. So that's that's Bill today because he was he was battered from pillar to post by a lot of the democratic centers. And I get it. I get it. They're play into the base of the Democratic Party. I get it. But when I listened to guys like Lahey from Vermont who used to be pretty sharp guy president, of course, declared.

"Word libertarian i would say more like i did so often before bob barr wound up getting the nomination i heard people saying that libertarians and conservatives are natural allies and so the nomination of bar johnson gray and weld was more a a symptom of that underlying problem of people saying that libertarians and conservatives are allies in it's not to say that there are people from the left to are involved in the liberty movement i mean certainly end they certainly there are things where we agree with you know conservatives odd there are also major things where we disagree with conservatives the policy the drug war borders me being able to do with my body what i want as long as they're not harming somebody else yeah there's i think these it's but they'll let me keep most of my body yeah it's it's a combination of the two i think is what happens it's you know it's the whole a it was conservative well there's socially liberal right so there's that myth that needs to die in a fire and then no because of that and that we need to reach out to the right sort of thing yeah you could say the same thing though league i don't know it and and i think i think he could kind of says same thing for both so you could say you make the seat theme in for both sides it's just depending on the issue yeah i think a handbill flawed myth of we're fiscally conservative socially liberal certainly our economic policies tend to align more with conservatives but we actually have a reason why we believe what we believe throwing out wealthy we're just a mix of conservative and liberal it makes it sound like libertarian centrist and we're not centrists were cherry picking or something like that and the reality is libertarianism is based on the principle of nonaggression we says that you know you should not use aggression aggression or aggressive forced to achieve your political or social goals that's kind of the the mantra of the libertarian party but will you have happening and it's not uncommon within politics is when there is a political movement it by sort of default has to be open to the public you know they have to allow anybody to for the most part to join right and ultimately that means that you are subject to an infiltration and.
