"Semi can listen to Spotify. Such a good song. Cry. The song it does. Yeah. Well, it's called Pompei. It's like it's basically saying, we are, this is a perfect song for climate change and ruining warring business. Pumpido shake Tom is and you know. And the entire community which wiped out by the love of this is the crazy thing. So my husband is from Ongeri Italy, which is like Pompeii that's where his family is from anything. Get covered in lava with they might have. I don't know. I guess they didn't. Sherve. I would imagine that they were knowing his, let's see. No, I imagine. They probably be a they're tough stock. Say probably will farming out that I would like to think that they were the ones that had the palaces you know, I'd like to think that I know. Got away by the law the fund. No, this is interesting because there is a place in Naples, Napoli. There is a place called CASA Avila Fateh Russo which is my husband's last name. And it is an actual this beautiful villa along the water there in Naples. I mean, just along the sea, and it's like this, this glorious place where they have all sorts of weddings, and it's just so I'm thinking, maybe he is some sort of tied. A never been a lot of parts of Italy. Never Naples Naples. I've only been there on cruise ships and I have to tell you, I was so unimpressed. I was. So I was it was the absolute opposite. I was really disappointed just covered in graffiti, however, that's sort of in Maine city air. With. Fini more graffiti, then some of these European shitty and we have even here in new by far, but I will say that the I mean, once you sort of go a little bit on the outskirts stunningly beautiful. Boy, I gotta make that trip. Naples? So. Through. So we go, there RIA, whatever you want. They husband did say he'd take a bullet for me. This. That he would, I would not pull him out of the way so fast. Down for the count. I love Cuba. That one time I went to Cuba Havana. It's like a city like no other shitty psycho movie set. The way it's set up nineteen fifties. Little if any of it has been fixed. The cars are all sort of. Right falling apart. It's indicate but it's, it's I've been to Madrid Barcelona. I hate that kind of Spanish architecture. But when you hit Havana, and you see the Spaniards architecture you like, wow, there's more like little bit in Wallin. She don't make stain little bit of the old Spanish field Venice, Italy. Yes. So kind of have has that everything is sort of falling apart yet. But it's beautiful. It's just it's magical Havana, roll back, maybe like fifty more years, and then vanish what and then send the ago which is further down the coast and beaches, a pristine amazing. And while the president of the United States has decided to ratchet it up against Cuba. Initiative to undo what Barack Obama did, which was to loosen up the relationship and free up travelers to be able to go to and from Cuba without the kind of hoops used to have to jump two years ago that momentarily. But people started to go down there and droves. They keep it wasn't quite ready for the American onslaught. But it's a place with people fascinated. That's why for years, the boards, tourism trade of Florida of Jamaica, all the West Indian Caribbean. Islands were praying that the beaded one Castro, which stay alive, and his brother, who because they didn't want communism coming down, because everybody would want to go to Cuba, the Pearl of the Caribbean. But because of the connection with Venezuela. And what was the failed coup, we talked about a one time. He and remember I said, it's a failed cool, right? We paid off all of Medeiros generals, and they kept him money, and they didn't sack the leader there. And so has this relationship with Venezuela, but people who had planned cruises, who had planned vacation to Cuba? They can't quite figure out why the hell all of a sudden we're undoing what Barack Obama had done. That's a shame. That's a real shame, the government should do what?.

"Here are Todd and dump something to wait Todd Jeffries and Don prior morning, as you know, the state lawmakers working their way through, you know, school finance bills and property tax relief. And some of the key points in the school Bill approved by the Senate, no sales tax increase, and they now say that they can find three billion dollars of additional money from oil and gas taxes plus taxes on online sales. That's that's new also the raises of five thousand dollars for teachers and librarians. That was originally a Senate idea local school tax rates would be lowered by ten cents not fifteen cents as they were seeking poor and minority kids will get all day pre K for a four year olds just some of the details. That are currently in the in the in this idea for lowering your property taxes at funding schools at the same time and joining us on the live Newsline from the Texas Republican party, chairman of the Texas GOP James Dickey, James good morning. How you doing? Good morning guys. It's a great to join done. Well, thank you very much. Just want to get your quick assessments as things are starting to change really fast. When it comes to this legislation. That's being proposed at the capitol. Your quick thoughts on school finance and property tax relief. Where do we stand this morning? What do you expect? There are a lot of moving pieces, and there's still things someone on what what we are really really hoping for and there there's a lot of misinformation out about that. But one of the one of the big things we are hoping for is that we can get the state funding of schools off of property tax, Robin Hood, only this because of state has has been doing that has been trying to cover its course in in school finding out of property tax that gets us close so an unconstitutional thing. But but not only that of course, how much the state spent and how much say taxes that matters and that matters at time, but how the state. Taxes maddow's? Also, that's why we all fight a save income tax because when you tax something discourage it and taxing income discourages income, and that's not good for the economy. And we want a better economy well property tax discourages ownership and investment, and that's not good for the economy either. So one of the big things we want to see is we want to see the state go to funding it's portion of schools, the the constitutionally required portion the state's supposed to be doing to be funding that off of sale sex with do they more fair more broad tax. And it's got the added bonus of a big portion of it being paid by outta shape. Folks who come into board tourism? Well, listen, the the the one cent sales tax increase it looks like it's off the table. Now. At least on the Senate side. It could come back. What are your thoughts? Yeah. So it's often on the Senate side on this Bill. There are so other bills could bring back a variation of it. Frankly, what our platform ask for what our legislative priority is for is much more than one sense up. Well, we wanted to do was entirely eliminate the property tax portion that is new to school maintenance and operations expense, which is about a quarter of all the property tax. Everybody pays actually does about forty five percent of the property tax. Everybody pays so we're looking for people to see yon Kyle in property tax, and they move of that over to sales tax, and there's a chance still. But that might happen. We got us. It does. Yeah. We had William Gaddis. He's the Williamson county. Texas sister collector there Williamson county he said, yeah. If we get a one cent sales tax, then the people will be paying more he amounted to a shell game. You get a few shackles and a few pennies savings on your property taxes, but you're gonna pay hundreds of dollars more per year in a sales tax increase. Peace. Yeah. With all due respect to him the legislative budget board who is not necessarily inclined to be friends. They they go at this stuff and they didn't analysis over the weekend. And what the house had proposed in terms of two point nine billion cut. Plus, the swat it would've meant not only a total cut in total taxes, but it would have meant a cut in total taxes at every income level. No matter what income level you were. It was going to be cut. Now. That's not what the Senate is now done in that Bill, but there are other bills still under consideration. The thing that's been all due respect him. I hear what you're saying. The thing. That's been rather frustrating though, there has been no talk of cutting. No talk of cuts in spending only talk of our. Well, let's hear it. Well, well, okay. Yeah. You're right. The the in all of the in all of what we're seeing we are seeing some increases in spending. And and that is a result of you know, years of pent up pressure on our legislators from from other stuff. You're right. What there is. At least thank God is there is not any discussion of spending. It all that that we because of a successful Konami because of growth because of the increase in population because of increase in property values. We're seeing significant increases in taxes collected and neither house ever started talking about spending all of it did increase, and we wish you know, we wished that increase would be kept population. Plus in place in. They're never thankfully was talking to spending at all. And and that for that. I'm grateful for you know, Republican leadership doing James Dickey, chairman of the Texas Republican party. Thank you so much for joining us for a few minutes here on the time. Don, Don show, an ad from save money on car insurance. By bundling home and auto with progressive and cut. That was good. So are there any other things you need to talk about or I could do an.

But today with Brian Baker filling in for Nigel. It's are we horrible people. So there's a story out of South Africa where this woman who was five months pregnant was just living her life hanging out in her house when a home invader came in and. And the husband happened to be home at the same time. So he grabbed his big massive machete wind up and hacked up the home invader. Well, now, I do have to add a small correction there. The home invader brought the machete with him he told arrest. So he took it from him and killed him with it. That makes it even better. It's delicious. So the question is are Brian Baker and I- horrible people because we love stories like that. And we're bad guys. Get hacked up there come up and so to speak in a disgusting. Horrible kind of way we love this kind of stuff. Are we horrible people? Let's go to Brian Brian. What say you? Gettleman. Get copy K, listen. No, you're not a horrible person, man. And here's here's the funny side note. I'm a night shift too. Right. My wife is home by herself. And I wrote classroom you give you information. But anyway, she's well protected. She has a baseball bat, she has her own the caddy and her favorite Smith and Wesson in between both of them. So I paid a fool who breaking my house when I'm not home. Because here's a good thing about her cell phone are usually dead calling nine one one Mike a little longer. So you just you never know. But now man you got not a horrible person. And when I hear that Texas or Arkansas or Mississippi executes convicted killers, I give three cheers right on Brian. Thank you, Brian. I appreciate that. Oh, no. No. I think you guys are right on the money. I think it's excellent. The I I like watching the Discovery Channel history channel I wish they'd have shows like this all the time where they have happy disliked this. Dave do you buy into the whole scared straight angle because I grew up with that documentary scared straight where these kids will go to jail and his prisoners were talking about the horrible awful things. They do I think without a good public execution. Sometimes you know, it takes away what the death penalty really means. I think that would help deter some people if I alone in that. No, that's the only one I just wish they'd carry them out, much sooner. They should give a free month period. And then you're done or they can take the people on death row and make a gladiator series out. I'm where they, you know. On television, live I paid a lot that. A lot of potential. What we could just plan to have mall done at one time per year. Talk to Indiana board tourism bring the folks in the hotels the restaurants book right here on monument circle the World Series of executions here. There's a great George Carlin. Stand-up bet where he talks about move. Everybody out of one of those square states move. Everybody out of like, Kansas or Colorado. Move all the felons. They're big making a reality show. Let him go nuts. I like that. Kentucky. Let me go to Darrell. Darrell welcome to the hammer. And Nigel show. Our Brian Baker horrible people because we love it. Just love it. When discussing things happen to bad people. Absolutely, not I'm one hundred percent, and as far as pay per view executions. I'm down right on my man. I'm telling you, I need to get a patent on this. Get the reality channels going. We'll be good to go. Andy, Andy, welcome to the hammer and Nigel show. What do you think? Absolutely, not there's even a there's even a technical term for enjoying bad things happening to other people. It's called sudden Floyd. Okay. Then then I man. Little segments. Right. See you get lewd new dude in the news, and you get education on the hammer. I've heard recently was a guy that tried to mug some woman in Brazil, her cell phone, and it just happened to be on a six fight Wednesday for the cheap beat the snot out of there. That's right. I forgot about that story. This mugger picked a UFC fighter to try to assault that it did not go. Well, Andy, thank you last word is going to be with Steve Steve. Thank you for waiting. Welcome to the hammer and Nigel show. Oh, hey, you guys are great. I'm sixty key year old retired disabled marine, and so I can't stand toe to toe like Joe Frazier Mohammad-Ali, but I've got my little pink card, and I got my Smith and less than nine millimeter kick in my door and see what happened. That sounds like America on the phone right there, my friend. That's America talking. Steve. Thank you so much for all of you on hold. If we didn't get to your call. We apologize.
