"He got himself out of that jam on Tuesday night. Wednesday night, he gave that bomb to Bo Bichette. Shouldn't have been in the game in my opinion. I don't necessarily think it's his fault for giving up a bomb, but that's just a lunatic and a very good player in baseball. Yeah, but bad call by Aaron Boone in my eyes right there. It's tough to bring him into that spot. You saw what he did the night before. He was lucky to get out of that jam with how wild he was. But hey, you look at this. And this was not part of any plan, but it's amazing because now you have guys who can eat innings once again, Michael king and sebrina come in last night. Kluber doesn't last 5. And then you have you have a competent group of guys who can pick up the slack and give you multiple innings and not have you throwing 5 relievers or 6 relievers for the last 5 innings because your four or 5 innings because that's just really untenable. And that's how you get the tired bullpen. And that's how you get Chad green, coughing up a 5 run lead against the Astros in right before the all star break. Don't know how many times we have to stress how important it is to keep these guys rested and utilize them in the proper times. I know it's hard. I know the baseball season is a marathon, but sometimes this isn't the decisions are very obvious in front of your face. We talked about severino coming in. Look, we weren't even confident severino was coming back but we alluded to the fact, hey, if he comes back, that's a multi getting bullpen weapon for the postseason and then at that point we're getting ahead of ourselves looking at the postseason after the Yankees shipped shit away. There are 7 game lead in 12 days..

"They didn't end the season with winning winning records against the socks or the Jays, but they they left as big a statement as you can on the season series against both of those teams because they essentially ruin the Red Sox. I'm not going to prematurely say the Red Sox are dead, but the Red Sox have lost 5 of 6. And they look bad ever since the Yankees just went into Fenway and completely destroyed them. The Jays were obviously limping into this series, they were 6 and 7 over their last 13. And they kind of had owned the narrative on the Yankees this year. They were the ones who constantly punched back. They were the ones who came through with big hits. They were the ones that were so good. Yeah. Bo Bichette is the most now the most annoying player I've ever watched. And I watched that. I know how anybody gets them out ever. Yeah. I want to enjoy and I can't enjoy it. I can't enjoy watching Bo Bichette and it sucks because he's just he's constantly screwing me. But unbelievable player. Unbelievable lineup this is. And they have gotten the better of us for most of this year. I know that it wasn't what were they 6 and 9 versus coming into the series or something like that? Something like that. I mean, if the Jays don't four games sweep the Yankees at Yankee Stadium two weeks ago, three weeks ago, four game sweep at the Yankee Stadium. That's why we're even in this predicament . Yeah. What the hell was that? I know..

The camp Just in general against her own offense or defense has seen it. Um, uh, you know, but certainly you have to prepare for it something that that kid can do and does pretty well and he's got. He's got good athletic ability. And so you know, you have to at least presented to your players, for sure. Yeah, I mean, seriously, just to have that layer in there, where, When he steps on the field, you feel like, okay? Is this going to be some play action pass where they throw at 80 yards down field is going to be a place where it's a read option. And maybe he's just going to go himself. Is he? Is he going? Uh, Who knows what they decide to implement and no matter what it is, I like I don't think we've seen it. I don't think it's something that Kyla showed us in a game so far and again, he said. He likes getting more out of these joint practices in the preseason games. You can control what situation you run a little bit better. You can set guys up to run. Some of these plays a little bit better, but also you don't want to show everybody what you're doing. So this is all it's all playing cards close to the vest. "Is a reliable closer, the rest of the bullies, but I don't know what they are. But with George Springer and with Vlad junior MVP mode, Bo Bichette didn't even play in that game. Toronto is deep Toronto powers past other teams. And I don't think it's going to be long before we're more worried about Toronto down the stretch than Boston. We're going to take a quick break when we come back and throw it to you for your thoughts on that exact situation. Welcome back to the inferior podcast. Thomas Karen ante, are you with me? Are you more worried about the Blue Jays and was to come than the Red Sox and what has passed? Every Red Sox matchup is still special and I'm still nervous because I hate them and I want nothing but the worst for them. I couldn't even really rude against the Blue Jays when it might have helped us for the two teams to split the series just because I want to get rid of the Red Sox now and then I'll deal with the Blue Jays, but we thought we knew the reality of the wildcard situation. It kind of felt like Yankees at ray's or Yankees at Red Sox, both spooky. Now the razor are edging forward even without Tyler glass now, the Red Sox are now in the second wild card spot. Yankees at Oakland or even Blue Jays at Yankees or Yankees in Toronto is starting to feel more likely than the old matchups. And it's only August 9th. There's a lot of time left for this to flip, but are you now more blue Jay's focused than socks focused? I've been, in my head, I've been more blue focused all year. Why, this team is younger. This team is definitely more the rosters deeper than the Red Sox. The Red Sox, how long have we talked about through the first half of the season? Yes, we were incredulous that at some point they were what 22 games over 500 and we wanted to slam our head into a brick wall, but the holes on the Red Sox are obvious. They don't have that good of a bullpen. They have a very bad starting rotation. I don't care how you splice it. It's a bunch of four ERA dudes and it's Nathan E of all the over performing. Chris sales coming back. Great. Hope it's a good time for you. Folks in Boston, but I just don't know how much of an you're gonna get from a guy coming off Tommy John surgery playing the last 6 weeks of the season. I am only scared of the Red Sox from a mental edge. I think they have the moxie. I think they have the manager. I think they have the attitude to kick our ass. I don't think they have the talent to kick our ass, which is why I was excited after the trade deadline because it seemed like we made those foundational changes with the culture that needed to be adjusted in order to help us on that. But I've always been worried about the Blue Jays we've been talking about this for a while. This team is not going anywhere anytime soon..

You know what users of seven straight. Do you know who Kumar rockers Father's Kumar John Rocker? No, no, it is not just Tracy Hold on Tracy's rock play against him Trace character out of Auburn. Mhm, right. I believe he was a linebacker for the Chiefs for awhile. Tracy rocker. I remember him when he came out. Yes, Kumar is like 67. He He looks like a football player. Lighters. Big lighters. Kid is going. He throws horror. Now listen, I wouldn't be surprised with the success of all the juniors out there and Bo Bichette. He's not a junior. But still. Yeah, you know, he's he's the offspring cabin fruit of a former major league players lines. Okay. I'm not surprised if the 1st 10 players are former, You know, Sons of former players, so good stock. Good genes. Yeah. I mean, that's the Blue Jays drafting philosopher. Exactly. Yeah, And it's working out for the White Sox to have to play the series without Mukata because he had. Apparently, I think it was a very bad Sinus infection. If I'm not mistaken. I mean, so much so that it knocked him out. He was available to pinch hit yesterday. But like Moncada, You played without your playing. Obviously, without your two big guns in a lawyer and Robert Madrigal gets hurt. You're playing without him, like the White Sox are not 100%. They're still finding ways to win that game. Pretty great, Pretty impressive rate for the white stuff like that. Good good. You should feel good. If your wife's best record in baseball and everything that's happened. I wouldn't should be overjoyed. Larus has gotten out of his own way. Yeah, he is, which is beautiful. Tony's been drama free recently awake on the bench, which is all you can ask. Why doesn't he like Liam Hendriks in a tie game at home in the ninth belt? Did Liam, just like did he want, Did he? Well, he got him up. He did, But, I mean, no, I listen. Yes. So you're right. So that shoots down the theory that he was going to be off. That's true. That's a good point. So. Like what? Why does he not? Not look at worked. I mean, okay, Everything worked yesterday. But why? I'm not plan didn't work today. Like just because you want. I think he doesn't mean a critical of the decision, right? What? What does he not like about? They had to go to extras. That probably wasn't in the cards when, uh you were, you know, in the fourth inning, fifth inning. Yeah, but 72 right when they went to the nine. They already had given up the lead, right? They gave up. Uh, Marshall, get up in the eighth had like Hendrix was up in the eighth. I believe I just I I don't know why he doesn't like Liam Hendriks. This is a couple times He's done it right normally, when you're And the road. He loves to do it Normally when you're at home, and maybe LaRussa like I'll give him credit. Maybe he's like, Hey, F conventional wisdom. Conventional wisdom is read. Freakonomics. Nonsense. Yeah. He's like, I don't care what conventional wisdom says. This is my plan, but Conventional wisdom has always said in baseball, right if you're at home in the ninth, you go to your It's tied to go to your closer. You don't want to do it on the road. But you'll do it at home because the theory is my closer is going to keep the game tied, and then we'll walk it off in the ninth, but he doesn't seem very willing to do that. Like there's been a couple instances here where They've been at home in the ninth inning in a tie ballgame, and he does not have Liam Hendriks coming to the game. One thing I'll say, though, is the argument could be made. That what you're talking about the whatever, even if it's considered conventional wisdom nowadays, that was all that was kind of designated prior to the extra inning role, which I do think like, because you have a runner starting at second base. It may be more advantageous to have a guy like Liam Hendriks, who you know, can strike people out. Because that's the real key is, if you can get a guy to strike out, or, you know, fly out like they did yesterday in the 10th and not have that runner advance from second to third before an out occurred, Uh, you know, get that out so they can't have a sac fly. Score it that is critical. So I do think you can make the argument strategically having a strikeout pitcher. Available to you in extra innings is more beneficial. If you're concerned about that, that's a logical way to put it, and maybe they shifting. There is a shift in the way they think now because of that, and the rule change. And then you know, give him.

"The schneide that was set on the broadcast is a great baseball term. Had to repeat it haven't heard it in a lyles. Bridezillas gives rowdy and gets into one and just destroys this baseball over the right center field wall and that is his first this season and honestly i think that might be his only first or second half of the season and googling as we speak and yeah that was basically i once and he's been point. Oh six nine. Even with that home run still left. Six on base got just mentioned though laura Junior abandoned in front of him also left four on. So it's not all rowdies fault but the blue jays could have made this even more lopsided if they were able akhtar around some of these guys that were left in scoring position and whatnot. Eventually after sadly enough blue jays fans ruined a door. Yes that guy. Who looks completely different yankee. Because if you told me that was ruined door ion known without the weird kind of beard and whatnot so he scores up here sanchez on a ground. Paul and that was the seventh inning giancarlo stanton and the eighth picks up a single escort. Dj la mayhew kind of threatens to the point where the blue jays we're like. Oh god this is what's going to happen. This is gonna be yankees nonsense all over again. jerry. Mary weather comes into close down. The eighth throws only two pitches and gets the blue jays out of an after germano and a few others staggered throughout the innings. To stop the bleeding and that little han padre was a little weird at the end of the ballgame because yeah why did use julian mary weather only to throw to pitches. My guess is. I'm hoping that means. There's an hoping to use them tomorrow in the series opener against the series finale against the yankees in the afternoon. Because that would have been really quick turnaround so to pitches okay. Great he can close out tomorrow to maysa ends up close not closing out the game but finishing it off work from him one hit and look very good otherwise so the one scary moment and the team in the game. David phelps ends up taking a ball off the back and he walks off mount on his own power. But we're hoping to get some good news by tomorrow morning or tomorrow afternoon when the broadcast starts about hopefully phelps actually feeling better and i did not look like it was a fun time but like i said he walked off under his own power so i would think it was a lot worse than hopefully. It looked a lot worse than it actually was so blue jays fans. What do you think's going on here. I know it's been a few rough weeks up and downs. All over the place. Bluejays are now five and six. After this. Win against the yankees. Obviously i think the offense is the biggest playing the blame at this point. We're going to get into this more lent. They evening during normal recording. "So they had they had a lot of issues to overcome this year. And the best thing about them is that they were not complaining one bit. They kept their mouths shut and they kept going to play baseball everyday and I think that got a lot of respect around pretty much for the fan base wage. And definitely around the league as you know, you weren't hearing them complaining about the lighting like the Yankees were every game or making excuses. There was no excuses and they were just flat-out be in Tampa, unfortunately, but like you said it was a good it was definitely a lesson for them to learn and like I said, it's not a normal postseason environment just because of the circumstances but the Jays player still got a good taste of what that will be like a month going into a hopefully a full season extra guy. I don't even know if that's a guarantee but it looks like it will happen. It'll definitely be really cool or interesting to see how they react in a full season cuz Jacob even going back to what you said players like Bo bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Still haven't gone through a full 162-game season before so that's going to be something to look forward to and I guess in this case, you know, you get to see more of the next year off and you know, who knows if I believe the expanded playoffs are here to stay and if that's the case obviously it increases the likelihood of them making it again, but, you know growing pains and birth. Definitely a lesson. They learned these past two days. I know it was very short and I don't know probably hoping that they at least took one game. Unfortunately, it just didn't work out but you know overall a successful season to begin. Let's just because of the expectations they had and the things I just mentioned previously. Yeah, exactly. It was just there was so many things that happened to the Blue Jays off the field that you need. Any other team could have easily just had or even the Blue Jays they could have said, you know, this sucks. Let's plan for next year, but they didn't and they proved that you know, we can win and we're a good team and it doesn't matter if you know, we have to play in A Minor League ballpark or run the road for I think it was like the first three weeks of the Season, you know, they they'll play anywhere and I think that was definitely good you guys mentioned how how the off season and with the team next year is going to look one thing. I am happy about with the Blue Jays with the amount of young players they have is that most of them are here to stay of their upcoming free agents. Only two of them. Our position players being Joe Panik and Jonathan Villar. They have some pictures that I do want them to sign like taijuan Walker and others that we'll get to later. But for the most part most of their team is here to stay at least their core. So, you know, I think this is it can only go up from here for the Blue Jays and you know, one thing that I swear was mentioned every song game and during every broadcast was how close his team got during summer camp and that really brought them together because the, you know, they're playing for each other. Obviously, they're playing for the fans too, but they're playing more as well. Like I said earlier a group of friends and I think that's definitely helping them, you know, especially the fact that a lot of them a lot of their core did come up together and they've been here, you know a lot like the guys like Ted Fernandez Danny Jansen they were here when the Blue Jays were, you know, pretty bad the last couple of years and I think this is definitely a good group overall very, you know, like it was like we've said very tough lessons that they had to learn that, you know, if you if you want to compete with the best teams, you have to bring your A-game Unfortunately they didn't and they were you know, they just got beat by the race. I think that's the best way to put it and Hope you know hopefully it works out for them in the future. I mean the extended playoffs the one good thing or interesting thing is that Rob Manfred said that it's probably not going to consist of 16 teams. It's probably going to have fifteen or something like that which you know it I mean, yeah, there's some arguments about why having you know, literally over half the league in the playoffs is not dead, you know, it kind of takes away from the the competitiveness and how you know, you can just be a sub 500 team or a 500 team is still make the playoffs. I mean if if that's Rob Manfred believes or things that it should work then you know, I'm all for it. As long as the Blue Jays you make the playoffs, you know, then I think it's it's a good thing overall. I mean I'm not complaining too much about the expanded playoffs because like I said, I wanted this for years and I mean it's it's a good sign that at least you know, Major League Baseball is trying to bring more teams into the playoffs and I think it does give the Blue Jays a better chance because you know, one of the one of my issues with the the way the playoffs the playoff format works with in baseball, is that a lot of it depended on your Division and you could be in a really good division the Blue Jays with the Yankees and the Rays even the Red Sox after the last couple of years. They were you know before they rebuild they were good. So you had a lot of really good teams and they kind they would kind of Union forced to take a wild card spot because there would be a really good team in their division. And I mean obviously every team or every division has you know, their division leader caliber team, but baseball it was more of you know, more of the the the way the playoffs work was more of a this is how your your division worked out. Whereas in other sports, you know, especially look at the NBA. It really doesn't matter which of the five t e Asians are in because the top eight teams in the East make it and I think that's definitely a better thing for baseball. But you know overall I think the mood is definitely did learn a lot this year. I think a lot of their team to stay and I think that's definitely going to benefit them in the future and who knows maybe a different playoff format kind of encourages them to play better because they realize hey we just went on a six-game losing streak. We might not make the play-offs need to play better and that I think definitely will help them in the future. Yeah, there's no way that this can be construed as a negative. Even if it does suck to watch them score three runs over 18 Innings against the the Rays. But yeah, I you guys know my thoughts on the expanded postseason. I I don't like it. I think sixteen teams is too much but I think if if Rob Manfred does attack it differently if he says, you know, I've heard proposals of you know, keep dead. What we normally have you know, normally we have five teams in each league. And then of course the Wild Card teams battle it out. One of the Wild Card teams get to slot in the division series. If we have instead of waging wild-card team or two wild-card teams we have for wild card teams. And then the Wild Card teams all kind of have their own bracket, you know, they play the four teams play, you know, two games against each other and then they play one final game to determine who moves on to the division series. I think that's one way you could expand it. I think the way it works now is that it doesn't work because you have teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers teams like the Tampa Bay Rays that face elimination and can get eliminated because of the exact same seating. They have the exact same Advantage as a team like the Blue Jays that was you know, two games over 500. So I think the the way the postseason works this season, it was an interesting experiment But ultimately we've learned Thursday. That have to be changed in the future. But I mean, I think I know I've been against it the whole time but the the fact that I'm fin excited about the blue jersey. This season has kind of changed my mind again. I think we still need to tweak the system but I think it's it was exciting to watch under the.

"Struggled down. Fortunately and it you know, he wasn't the sole reason why the Blue Jays lost that game. I think they did only score. What was it two runs off of Danny chance at home runs, but it you know still it was a disappointing season other one thing I will say is this this might just some people might sound a little bit weird, but I'm in a way happy to see how upset the players were after game to you know, you saw guys like Lourdes gurriel, Jr. Just looking he just sat with his head down for like a solid 2 minutes and it showed that they cared they wanted to win they thought they could win and unfortunately, they they just got out maxed. I think that's the best way to put it and it showed that they cared and that they wanted to be better and all throughout social media every any player that has either Twitter or Instagram always talked about how we're going to be back. This is just the beginning and it shows that you know, this is a young group of not even just teammates just friends that know that hey we did not play the way that we should and off. Went to be better next year. So it's you know overall sad ending but this is just the beginning so I mean Especially considering the fact that a lot of these players have not even had a full combined full season. You know Bo bichette came up midway last year missed half of the season this year Guerrero be the same thing so that you got a lot of guys that are very inexperienced and I think you know overall they might have lost a battle but in the end they're going to win a war at that kind of analogy makes sense, you know them to be better and they said a new standard for themselves make the playoffs and win, you know, they won in the minor leagues now that they prove that they can at least compete in the big leagues. I think this is definitely a sign of good things to come down. The Blue Jays weren't supposed to be here in the first place. So I mean we can criticize them all we want for the mistakes that they made you mentioned the bo bichette there that I guess you could say cost of blue cheese the game even though they weren't really scoring anything cuz obviously pichette made that are that would have been the third out of the inning and then hydrogen where you proceeded to give up a grand slam so you can criticize him Is all you want for that but bottom line the Blue Jays weren't supposed to be here the fact that they even were in the first round of the postseason against the Tampa Bay Rays was kind of a miracle who's kind of, you know a gift and it was certainly fun to watch. So and and like you said the players you can tell we're super into it. And this is only good experience and it only gets better from here. We knew the Blue Jays. Like I said, I'm supposed to compete this year. But after this season, it's it's only going to be better for them. We know next year. They're going to be a lot better if they get a full season out of the likes of you know, Tay Oscar Hernandez, if you're sitting like he was this year Rowdy tool as if he's hitting like he was this year or at least part of this season Lourdes gurriel Jr. He hit 308 this season if he does that over a full season and he's not making I think five million dollars next year like that is really great for the Blue Jays and it's going to do a lot of good things that like, you said Bubba said if he's not injured cavan Biggio if he keeps up his job. High rate of walks if the Blue Jays go out and get some veteran pitchers which will talk about later or re-signed guys like Walkers Shoemaker or even if Nate Pearson comes up and he he's not injured any he develops a little bit and you can get out in the major. It's only uphill from here for the Blue Jays. It's only going to get better and I think this year is just it's good experience for them. I can't really be portrayed as anything negative. One thing I did take from this series with the raised and we saw Ross Atkins talking a little bit about it in his media availability yesterday. He mentioned that this year the Blue Jays have two or next year the Blue Jays have to do better about taking walks and not walking as many guys as pitchers because we saw that a lot this season and I think that's something that stood out in the series against the Rays. I think it really showed the difference between the Blue Jays and the Rays and part of the reason why the race have been successful is here. It seemed like every single app suck. In the first game with Blake Snell on the mound and to a lesser extent the second game with Tyler glasnow on the mound. The Rays were starting off the Blue Jays with a know to count every time it seemed like every single at-bat started off O2 in the Blue Jays were battling back and obviously they couldn't succeed that way because when your download to it's tough to get a hit. So I think that's something that really stood out that off with the raised. It really really well against the Blue Jays and I think that's part of the reason why they were successful in shutting down the Blue Jays offense that had previously been one of the best in the majors. It definitely was a good lesson and going back to it as well. They are legitimate contenders to win the World Series. So it was a great lesson. Well, it was a good lesson definitely a tough less less than to watch and probably go through for them. But yeah, just a little things with like you mentioned Mark how many times they were down O2 and then just overall going beyond that series all year. There was Defensive issues. There was baserunning miscues, there's lots of stuff they have to clean up song. But it's all part of the growing pains and you know, they will be back who knows what the team exactly will look like but it will definitely look similar to what we saw this year. They have all their core pieces intact. There's going to be some changes to the rotation that'll be interesting to see if players like Ryan borucki or Anthony K kind of transition back to a starting rotation role, but that's another topic if the offseason but you know, it just it was definitely a good season to begin with and we know we know the story with them this year how close they got going back to summer camp when they were quarantining in the Rogers Centre Hotel off when they weren't allowed to play in Rogers Centre where they were on the road for pretty much the first two weeks of the season and they had to spend, you know, majority of their home games that a minor league facility in Buffalo..

"And welcomed episode 88 of section 138. I'm your host Mark. Collie. As always. I'm joined by Bryson and Jacob. How are you guys? I am good. How are you? I'm I'm doing all right. It's been a week. How are you Jacob? I'm doing wrong. I mean, it sucks. The playoff run was kind of short, but you know what? It was fun while it lasts. Yeah. We we knew last week that by this point this week. We would know what happened to the dog. Is whether they were eliminated whether they were moving on and unfortunately, they are eliminated. We're not having the podcast. We want it to be having at this point. It was a very quick postseason back to games the Blue Jays scored a grand total of what three runs for runs. They were some like over 22 with runners in scoring position over the course of only two games. It was not the not the series we expected we expected them to at least give some offense against the Rays and we didn't expect High engine Rio to age, you know, give up. What was it seven runs in his start. So what are you guys Impressions about you know, how it worked out or you guys disappointed by the way, the Blue Jays performed, even though we knew that they would be facing a challenge going against the Rays well to start off it it definitely was disappointing. But I guess it's something that none of us really or a lot of us kind of expected it to be possible. You know, first of all when we're dead Entering the series we knew Tampa Bay was the first season the American League so pretty much the Jays were matching up with one of the best teams overall in the league. And in this case the best team in the American League and just flat-out didn't work off after two games. You know, I get you know, it started off with the interesting strategy with the rotation with Matt Shoemaker starting game one and then Henry was supposed to start game two and then for potential game 3 would have been taijuan Walker and then after the game one, actually Matt Shoemaker only pitched about three Innings and then Rob. Came in after that for another three items. So it was it worked out but you know offensively just they couldn't get the job done. We found it kind of ended in game one and then game to pretty much everything fell off the rails in the first inning or the second inning. Sorry were you was shaky right off the get-go and going into the second inning is that's when pretty much everything fell apart. And from there at the not look good. It was it was it 7 nothing gate nothing and you know, the James managed to score a few runs, but unfortunately, it wasn't close to being enough, you know things off. Around there's a few errors few errors that you don't see every day from someone like Bo bichette and yeah, it would just I guess, you know, when you look at it, it's still in my opinion was a successful season. I think if both of you guys can agree with me on that but you know, I don't know how you know, definitely a learning experience for them as well, you know as much as it was only two games, you got to experience some sort of a off baseball obviously not usual playoff baseball with no crowds or in this case a 60 Game season and then this year also with a new playoff format, but you know, the James will be back. They not busy offseason ahead. And unfortunately, it couldn't work out but some questionable decisions, I guess at first when we first saw it with Matt Shoemaker, but it ended up working out fine. Robbie Ray did pitch a good greetings home after he came into the game, but you know what, it was a little disappointing but overall, I'm still happy with the season the Blue Jays had yeah, I mean it was kind of tough to watch. I mean the Blue Jays game. In game one, they were competitive. But you know game too was just it was over by what the second inning. So it just obviously not the ending you want to a season but I mean it it's still stuck in a way was a successful season because I mean they obviously the blue just went from what was it Thirty games under five hundred or something 2019 to over five hundred record. I'll be sixty games but still it was still good to see I think the best way to describe this playoff series with the Rays would just be an experience was showing it you saw a lot of players who had performed for the Blue Jays took out the season just swinging at pitches that were not in the strike. So and I think in game six, they had six left on base there only run was off of a Bo bichette sac-fly and I think was the eighth inning it just you know, not what you expected from the Blue Jays, although they did, you know face some good Rays pitching, but it's just Overall was a very tough season to watch or series to watch rather and the errors were made like you said bracing with Bo bichette. I think he had to in the sixties combined there was you where he could have easily adding and dealing was extended and the Blue Jays, you know, they struggled also one of the things I was interesting was after game took to Pat Tabler who was brought onto Blue Jays Central. He alluded to the fact that you did not look look comfortable on the mound and we always talk about how you don't really see emotion out of him, you know, it can be 5 a.m. For his team or five nothing for the other team could be a one-run game that can be tied. You know, you don't know how he's feeling but he did not look very comfortable and it just that was tough to see I mean, we kind of took last week we expected to start the game with reuse starting to be a game that the Blue Jays would automatically win or at least be very competitive and it just that didn't happen. I mean he.

So what are you guys Impressions about you know, how it worked out or you guys disappointed by the way, the Blue Jays performed, even though we knew that they would be facing a challenge going against the Rays well to start off it definitely was disappointing. It was it was it 7 nothing gate and you know, the James managed to score a few runs, but unfortunately, it wasn't close to being enough, you know things off. Around there's a few errors few errors that you don't see every day from someone like Bo bichette and yeah, it would just I guess, you know, when you look at it, it's still in my opinion was a successful season. I think if both of you guys can agree with me on that but you know, I don't know how you know, definitely a learning experience for them as well, you know as much it was only two games, you got to experience some sort of a off baseball obviously not usual playoff baseball with no crowds or in this case a 60 Game season and then this year also with a new playoff format, but you know, the James will be back. "Right, James. Have you got blue jays fever Playoffs begin today? Totally. Yep, totally Blue Jays fever. I've been watching them. Sorry interrupted their guy got so excited about the Blue Jays I cut right in no. No, I just I mean before you launch it at the take. Let me just sort of set the table in that the Jays are taken off of Tampa Bay Rays and they were the best team Rays were during the regular season in the American League. If you look at their head-to-head record, not that bad Jays were four and six against the raised five of the games are one run games three decided by two runs in Toronto at Square Tamp overall 4844. So despite the fact Tampa Bay was significantly better in the regular season overall wage. And it's pretty much a toss-up flip of the coin type of a series when you look at their head-to-head games. Yeah, as I as I talked your Steve look up the Blue Jays roster payroll. Okay, cuz I was searching at the other day. I'm I don't know if I'm way off base here or not, but I just assumed like all these these young kids on the Jays team, right? That's what everyone keeps talking about how young they are and you got the excitement of Bo bichette and Vlade Junior biggio's playing great, either the other you know, Jansen is good, you know the catcher you have the other guys. I don't know their names in front of the other guys. Yeah, the other guys the old other guys category Steve off Spanish guys. Okay, there's like so Richard, right, which is great player. So I'm going there's slowly. I'm looking up the roster of their wage. Roll and I could not. Get over the fact how little these guys are getting paid when it comes to baseball. Like there's I think there's only one guy in that team. I live it might be Richard or videos making Biggio making I don't know ten million or something like a pittance me baseball Judaism easier doesn't make any money. Okay in the case of grichuk. He makes ten point four million jobs, right? Is that scratch that thirteen million that's just average annual value at 10 for the contract but your big money earners for the Jays a hunch in Rio at twenty million a year ten or Pac-12. Yeah Randal grichuk at thirteen and then you have Robbie Ray and Chase Anderson nine eight and Jonathan Villar at 8 as well, then everybody after that. Yeah by baseball standards, they they make a pittance and their estimated payroll for twenty twenty $118 million dollars and that's less than half of some of the teams the best vendors around baseball game. Is that those names are making those money aren't regular starters all the time. Okay, so some are you know, the pictures and stuff but the you know, the the big Gunners on that team well body and bow they're still making less than a million bucks or something their kids, right? They're only making just over half a million dollars. Yeah crazy right crazy. So what what a year, what are your for them to wage? You know make you know, how what is your 16 teams now Steve is that all these playoffs is working. That's how many get in? Yep. Yeah. So it's a best at 3 and that's that's obviously favouring the Blue Jays as as we talked about in the play in series, you know, you have these short series that really favors the dog every single time in the blue shirt question. No question. They are that but in all six of the losses to the race this season to talk about there being four and six against Tampa the Blue Jays either LED or were tied with the Rays heading into the eighth inning so dead..

"Slash DCF Will make sure we hit that again before the end of the show to remind you if you're in your car, you're in your shower If you're in your shower, by the way, Thanks for It's for listening in, but I mean, I appreciate you getting up and, uh, get it going anyway. All right, let's get into some of the stuff yesterday from from the trade deadline or post trade deadline giants not active and I don't know if that surprised a lot of you. I wasn't shocked by that. I kind of thought it would be cool. And to be honest with you. There was more movement yesterday, then. And I think maybe I'd anticipated there would be across baseball lot of teams changing the players changing teams, and very few of them were like rent a player's. It feels like a lot of these players are stapled guys. Starling, Marty's The well. The Dodgers made a couple of trades actually, shocker. I know they're making moves. But the other big buyer Yesterday was the was the Toronto Blue Jays. They like basically rebuilt their entire rotation, I think, added three starters yesterday, Robby Ray Ross, crippling and There was a third one that they get. You know, they've got general work up there already. I can't remember. The third guy was that they added yesterday. Oh, Taiwan, Walker was the third one they brought in the Toronto Blue Jays feeling like maybe this is their chance. They're on the way up. Ah, good crop of young talent there and flighty Junior and cabin B, Geo and Bo Bichette. So they're Ah, yeah, well, Dave just wish for right Or maybe a maybe a world series up in buffalo. That's Of course, Dave. If they don't do the bubble city, they're talking about doing the two bubble sides for the postseason. Anyway, let's get into some of the stuff from far on yesterday. Pretty cut and dry here. Why didn't you trade anybody? There was talk about Kevin Gausman. Talk about Johnny Cueto. I also sort of wonder if Trevor Cahill weren't in better health situation here or if we knew what was going on with Drew Smyly or when he'd be back or or Jeff Samardzija. If all those guys were healthy, we're talking a little bit more starting pitching depth. I don't know how how great they feel about that right now, but just sort of simple Farhaan. Why didn't you trade any the starting pitchers? Are our own. You know, I guess sort of injury questions as as we come down the stretch here. Obviously, you know, Cahill coming out of the game the other day, Smiley who were you know, and and some marja who were both encouraged by their progress, But you know, still have to get over the final hump. So you want to be careful that you don't wind up in a battle of attrition. At a position where you think you might have some depth there, even some surplus so it is sort of funny. They do have some death at the starting pitching spot. It's just that the depth is kind of hurt right now. That's really are, but they've been pretty good at at at I don't know, plugging in Trevor Cahill, considering he had the finger injury or the wasn't wasn't doing OK at the start of the season and then Drew Smyly went down and he was doing pretty good. So anyway, That's that's sort of the thought process I'd had to where I wonder if Cahill was more healthy if they'd be more inclined cables like pretty good. I feel like in his first few outings, since they've stretched him out a little bit, and he stretched out a little quicker. It seems like some of the other guys or maybe they've just been more lenient with him because he's a he's a sinkerballer, and he's been around. For a little bit of time. More here from far on, Kevin Gausman's gonna go tonight. Five 41st Page from Colorado, right here can be our 1045 and 6 80 will be opposed by John Grey. Now, Kevin Gausman wanting to Ah 454. He's got the 48 K's in like 30 innings and change. Ah 1.26 27 a pretty damn good season to this point. The question for Farhaan yesterday was about Kevin Gausman's comments after his last start raising him and I kind of want to be here. I like the protocols are like knowing where everything is. I don't have to learn. Ah, holy system, and I told you guys that when we were in Scottsdale off theory was talking sort of weirdly about how he when he was a kid in Colorado, where in Denver he loved going to Giants Rocky's games he likes to Derek Bond's places. Yeah, we used to get a kick out of a giant, which I thought was sort of a funny thing to hear from a guy who's who's from Colorado. Anyway. There's four on yesterday about Kevin Gausman's thoughts for comments. About staying here. And did he look at that? As may be part of his long term approach? Yeah. I mean, that's always good to hear. You know, whenever you have players, particularly guys that you brought me is a free agents, particularly guy. In Kevin's situation who signed a one year deal when they feel that good about the environment, the team the clubhouse, the chemistry that they're interested in staying long term. That's obviously a really strong reflection on What you have going on in your organization, So I think a lot of people read those comments and felt really good about my men. Obviously, you know, God has been a huge part of our team and what we've accomplished so far. Yes, I feel good about that, too. He's actually a guy who I know he would have been the most attractive piece to move product. I kind of like him. I kind of like him in the rotation. I feel good about he equated with the top. And what if they come back next year? What if they make one of these these offseason acquisitions and they sign up? Ah, free agent who you can plug it. I'm talking to God like a Wilmer Flores in even I'm not saying that it's a It's a big bad and I'm not saying that, you know, they want to develop talent. They want to take stock of what they have now. Don't forget they were in on Bryce Harper. Like they were flying out to Vegas. There were visiting with price or I don't shut her about it. But I wonder where we'd be. I wonder what the thought process about the team would be. If a player like that were on the team, or had the Giants completed that trade a couple of seasons ago for Jan Carlos State, where would we be? What we've been talking about how quick with the rebuild being would there have been as big of a little downtime? Would we be more of a A wood, far on be more aggressive in his is hope to acquire talent? I don't know. I don't know. It's just interesting to think about it. Now that some of those talents coming up Joey Barnes and I'm still I'm still curious about Luciano and where we're going to be with that guy, Seth, Cory and Shawn Jelly. Those could be two pictures we see next year. So all stuff we're keeping an eye on, but I feel comfortable with Kevin Gausman right now at the top of the road. Station next to Johnny Cueto. More from far out here in talking about what we just discussed. You saw one team in the division just sort of pull the rip cord and say, that's it. We're done herself on top of taxi. They kind of bail. They should Archie Bradley out of town. Robbie ran a town Bumgarner's heard Starling. Marty's gone on. Then you said the Padres go the other way. Six trades five teams 26 players involved. They have yourself. That's exactly what they have to make a deal yesterday for Mike Levinger, who, by the way, if you're annoyed with the Padres already You got another line. Four years of that died three years of that guy he signed through 2022. I guess. Two more years under contract. My clever. That's why the Padres into some, like six players back. He's a legitimate ace and the Indians pull the ripcord. They've decided they don't want to keep him here is far. I'm talking about all the other moves the division opponents made and if that had any bearing on his thought, process or decision making yesterday No, I mean, you kind of just have to, you know, look internally and just figure out what's best for you. And we've talked about this with the other teams in the division as well. You know, you don't want to be in a position where you're reacting. I think we still look that I guess especially in a year like this. With the playoffs being structured the way they are. Um where? You know, you're still gonna have to weld cars they're coming from, You know, all three divisions were obviously right in right in the mix there, so that didn't really affect our thing. Sort of funny..

Kevin Gausman Giants Trevor Cahill Drew Smyly Johnny Cueto Padres Toronto Blue Jays Marty Dodgers Colorado baseball Dave Taiwan Starling Wilmer Flores Robby Ray Ross Bo Bichette Bryce Harper Jeff Samardzija Farhaan

"Hotel As a Blue Jays player, $750,000 fine and possibly jail time for all those people who are bitching and moaning about America not being free to go. I have to wear a mask. They're going to 750 grand. If you're outside of the hotel or the ballpark, that's it. It's all Hugo or jail time. 7 750 grand is more than major league minimum. So if you're like Bo Bichette or your leg Vlady Junior, that's more than even your perverted salary. That's more than you will make in an entire year. I am. That's a that's a terrorist. You goingto in playing games anyway. Just like you saw that make my man I got to care what you make. 750 K is like that's a that's gonna leave a mark. Even I don't care what you made. So what about what about when players travel up there? What about when the Yankees are gonna crack down? I mean their jail players. I'm sure but I wonder how they how they will enforce that? Because I think that's really what we need is the enforcement, right? I gotta read more on this thing, man. Anyway, it was a hell of a guy that's just like Hella. Fine, dude, right? I mean, can you imagine what this country would do? If they were there was something like that going on? If you leave your house will be five A Y It's a marshal lost, man. Anyway. So what's going on to some about Val Kilmer? And you're getting so here's the deal. Everybody loves you. So she like back. I just know this I get the station. Everybody's a copes fan like We have been there since March, but we have our Are things going on? Just like every other workplace. We're pretty laid back. I think everybody likes everybody, for the most part, but I know everybody through you. And so then I see you getting attacked in in I guess it's on Twitter. What I'm saying, Yeah, Yeah, mentioned. We'll see. Here's what happened. Here's what happened yesterday. Right after we got off to 15 T. K B had Calleigh and alone. And he said, he's a friend of Jerry's great. He's fantastic While I was still hanging with the guys here at the station a little bit I was I was doing some recording a couple things in the studio. And so I'm here in a little bit of the challenge and to interview and he started doing a bit about the movie Tombstone. Okay, so I I didn't really register. I'll start by saying this. I've never seen Tombstone. Alright, So that's that's the number one. We got to get this bit. We've got to get this bit later. We'll get we'll probably get to it because it happened during the face off with Willard Willard and I were texting. Probably then about 05 45 or something right, which is about something totally separate. But as he's texting me, I was listening to T K B. And so he's I know about to jump on for the face off and they were talking tombstone. So I facetiously texted Willard. Val Kilmer as Batman. Greater than Val Kilmer as what the Doc Holliday is that his character's name and in in tombstone, So Willard brought it to the air Tio Rod and Tom and Larry. No, Rod is like a fanatic. Could we start there for a second, like what's the protocol? Because not a lot of well other people go through this in a different way. In other words, if you text something to someone is that automatically fair game in our case on the air, but in most people's cases If you personally tech something to someone does that become public? I don't think it should. Now here's the winds that well, Willard said. This, he says, I'm going to take it to the year. But I'm not going to reveal who said this. OK, so he brings it to the air. And he says, a current can be. Our personality has said that Val Kilmer as Batman. It is greater than Doc Holliday. And I totally said there's jokingly like I'm not. I'll see this top gun great movie. I'm not a huge Val Kilmer guy. What's the other one heat? He's good in heap. He was good in the doors as James two more since I never I've never seen that I thought he was good as Jim Morrison and the doors. He's great as the Sherpa in entourage when he plays the sheriff, but so have you got for me. Val Kilmer was like a huge eighties 90 star and I was a kid in the 90. So I kinda miss the Val Kilmer home run for sure. I've seen top gun like his. That's his best. So here's the thing. I had never even never seen Tombstone. Never really had any idea what this thing was about. I'm not a big Western guy, but I'm told in reading reviews Now in the last 12 hours, the tombstone is more more Rambo. Then like old school. Western is kind of went on from gathering. So Willard brings us to the air A Rod and Tom kind of lose their minds like that. Natasha's Tom was totally taken aback by this Take. Rod was out, like thought. This was the most ridiculous thing ever. And then I told so, Wheeler you can reveal that it was me. That's OK, so revealing to me then then they start talking like Rod Rod and Larry thought It was like a clay Thompson like he checked like I had been so hot lately with my tapes, and now I come with this one. It was just 1/2 court heave on on a Val Kilmer take my thing Is this my dad's a huge Batman guy? When I was a kid? My dad took me to see Batman Forever. Which is the Val Kilmer one, which is which is ah. Who else is Jim Carey is the Riddler. You get Tommy Lee Jones to phase Chris O'Donnell is Robin, which was a little weird, strange casting for like fun comic book movies, So I saw that I said, This is a joke. Go, Willard, and then it came to the air. But I I don't actually believe this. I don't even think the outcome was that great of a Batman. It's a fun movie. It's like a cartoon movie. But I'll see Tombstone this weekend. I put it on my ledger. I'm watching. It's probably tomorrow or Sunday afternoon. I'm trying to think he has. This always brings you to a Batman conversation. I always think as faras the movies go. I mean, Adam West is original Batman to me, just cause when I grew up, even though it was in the sixties, they would replay it still, and I just That's how I remember Batman so Regardless of what anybody tells me. Adam West is Batman..
