Both with the other democrats in the state but also with the people which is why poll numbers have just been dropped so much of it last month so with him and de blasio are and i i would love to know this in california as well but you you are from new york so you might have a good handle on new york with cuomo in de blasios. The wreckage that has been done with these policies especially because of covid Are people just wanting to get rid of them or a tying them also to the policies. That are so damaging. Well i they are. They are tying them to their policies because they're the ones who put forward these arbitrary restrictions These and deeded shutdowns that have heard our local economy that has led to thousands of people losing their jobs that have put small businesses people's livelihoods Out in You know schools. The parents teachers and students they speak to you. Want to go back to school. And that is very upsetting. Children don't have school athletics anymore. Can you can enroll. You can ice skate. And and you know you can go to an ice skating pavilion escape. But you can't have hockey leaks. Make any sense And so there's a lot of frustration. Well, Linda, a reporter asked the mayor about schools Chancellor Richard Carranza's statement at a recent public meeting, expressing concern about the rising suicide rate. In New York City's public schools. Well, it turns out that in New York City, five public school students have committed suicide so far this school year. Middle schools are back next week, and they're working on getting the high school's restarted, which is a lot more complicated, but the mayor underlined But now every single school has mental health services they can plug kids into, he said. The school system is trying to make sure that guidance counselors, social workers principles that everyone's thinking about if there's a child with a mental health need That they're speeding those services and supports to them, But the mayor underlined. It's not easy when kids aren't in person, he said. That's what's causing. So much of the problem. As the mayor put it. We're really trying to help every child. So he keeps saying she should not accept this not take this. This is the biggest nightmare for Willie Brown. Ever. You see the Maureen dowd a mess over the weekend. She wrote a column about if when Biden Pixel woman. It'll be so interesting to have a male and female on a ticket. It's the first time in thirty four years since. Geraldine Ferraro. There's ever been a male female ticket on the democratic side and this got A. Publicist New York Times published it was up on the website. Until everybody explained to them. Two Thousand Sixteen was Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine male female. But doesn't that? Isn't it? Fascinating? I Maureen Dowd could be that dumb but also fascinating that nobody the New York Times no editor know anybody caught that. Actually got editors. Yeah. Just incredibly stupid and probably New York. Times is not making a lot of money like it used to. So that probably had to cut back drastically on staffs and nobody caught the mistake she finally. Corrected it. The issued a correction but. Hillary Clinton putting out all kinds of statements about to stop with the pot. Brownies. That's an it's a reference to a million years ago Maureen Dowd wrote about taking pot brownies nobody would remember that. Even Hillary. So they obviously told her about Hillary speaking out about something I. think he needs to take whatever time needs to make the choice. Oh, he's talking about Biden like Biden is going to make the choice. Is the one making the decision the person that I could work with that? I WanNa work with day in and day out and good times and hard times inside the White House to serve our country. What good time would you have working with Hillary? Clinton other good times. The committee that's doing the choosing Biden has nothing. Biden doesn't even know. He's GonNa they'll tell him who he chose. The committee is working on this Kamala Harris has a big problem, the head of the committee. Is Chris Dodd he hates. Kamala Harris is doing everything to block her There are some people like the but the main argument against the first Bush's very unpopular with Democrats. Out of all the primary candidates, he was the first one to bomb out remember she was gone after one debate totally bombed out She's mopey dreary number two personality. She also attacked Biden in that first debate for twenty minutes about how a racist he was. Some people argue that that's why she shouldn't be picked because that'll neutralized that they'll never be able to use that again. because. She'll be on the ticket and just say right I don't really I. Don't really think that. in the but the main argument I've heard this that behind the scenes, the people against using his she's another Hillary Clinton. "Mention it ever heard them say a word about it. Ever see them come to New York and try to do anything never. These are like bad waiters who just looking oh, sorry. It's not my table you could help you. The worst leadership in the world and blamed Cuomo unlike the blasios Cuomo has half a brain he could step in and and do what these people do. They should be at City Hall everyday screaming at the mayor that we're not leaving this office until you pick up the phone and get the police work and again and Sivan's a smart guy. But he's What is he doing here? Just pretending to be maybe he is nutty progressive but he's not arresting anybody at What was that story had before but he declined to press charges. Some also. This was a crazy case where they went to arrest and organizer of the Black Lives Movement for assaulting a police officer. And crowd gathered outside the guy's apartment he was live broadcasting to. And the COPS backed off. Eventually he he eventually surrenders but five ants drops the charges. Sivan's drops the charges against this guy who assaulted police. This is Cy Vance. Who is so busy looking at Donald Trump's two thousand, twelve tax returns just in case maybe there might be something what a waste of resources and he won't prosecute this guy what are we going to do? How much longer advancing office? that. reelected. How to Blasios a year and a half Cuomo two and a half years, we can't survive this I don't. I. It's not just here Chicago last night was. Looting and fires everywhere. You know in Chicago. You know what it looks like with those waterways all around downtown. The bridges over all the water world of high rises are they had arrays raise all those bridges last night they had to put the bridges up and leave them up to contain the rioting ahead of shutdown all transit, you go to contain the rioting as the city burned last night. Yeah. Joe. Biden's got a good chance of reelection. This isn't a lot of baggage for him to deal with. You might say, how does a guy get elected when this is his team well, Biden such a fast talker such a slick talker. He'll talk his way around this just give them a chance..

"Biden. Mumbling Joe Biden everybody on the Biden secret service detail saying he's really falling apart in the last month. He's getting a lot worse. It's not good. It's not good So that's why you see all these Democrats now talking about maybe they shouldn't be a debate. You hear this all the time. Now, why should he debate donald trump just lie there's no reason to they're trying to lay out the groundwork for pulling out of the debates. You can have a presidential race without debate no debates in sixty, four, sixty, eight, seventy, two. Years there were no debates but I I just think if he pulls out. that'll turn off this whole race will depend on Independence Democrats vote for Democrats Republicans will go with trump the independence. If he pulls out the realize he's not competent, and then the president will just keep pointing this out and this is the whole key to everything. He's actually comatose he's not conscious. So who is running this? If he wins who's the committee that will run the country figure Obama Valerie Jarrett. People say Hillary's involved now. Some big Soros types, but they're going to have to identify the committee that will run the country I. Think we're titled To know that. Don't you think You're never gonNA know there's not going to say, well, that's yeah. You'RE GONNA trust them on the answer. But if they you know bring out on a hand truck this weekend at Bernie's guy. He's the candidate we gotta know who's really running things even Michael Goodwin who was getting a little wobbly there the last week on President Trump's victory. His column today saying basement show this is not gonNA work. This whole scheme with Baseman show is not gonNA work hide in the basement pretend he's awake not gonNA work. So the only hope for Democrats is this mail in voting stuff. Because that allows complete and total fraud everywhere as DNC chairs have said as Jimmy Carter study showed total fraud when you get to complete mail in voting now, the only catch to that, it can take forever to count votes even with the fraud. Look at this Carolyn Maloney race this is a tiny little congressional race. and they're counting the ballots in Queens how long this has been that where we're going into week seven pretty soon with they actually just declared Carolyn Maloney the winter yo some. Okay, she's a winner. You see there you go. Six weeks. That's all it took. That's sixty thousand votes at six weeks sixty thousand votes. So how much if that takes six weeks? How much would one hundred and twenty million votes take? Literally a year two years. Yeah. Yeah. So I think that's put the president should start talking about how maybe he'd like mail in voting that guarantees them another year no matter what that'll stop all these Democrats see he hasn't really learn how to play them yet. Every great doctor you talk to loves hydroxy chloroquine in the early stages can really help with corona virus. Every great Dr. soon as the president said it, it was the most evil drug in the world nobody's allowed to use you gotta stop. So he's got to learn how to play these people. He should have come out early and said I, want mail in voting I think that's the way to go. Then they would refuse to allow any mail in voting anywhere. So I don't think it'll ever happen because it's already August. It's impossible at this point even if you wanted to switch to mail in voting, it would take years to get up to speed. Now now, people are always asking why C. Four absentee balloting. And why does he think Florida's okay we He's Got Republicans running Florida that he can trust. But you around you've seen these mayors and governors that are running some of these states which you trust them..

The New York Times is owned to the family that owns its slave owners. and they were big supporters of the confederacy the New York, times. So where's that cancel culture? We'll get to that. Coming up, so let me explain this Chris Wallace interview yesterday. I guess you know Mo- you remember if you watch the Sunday shows you get so annoyed. Slanted biased they. are this worm each Chuck Todd and This dirty corrupt George Stephanopoulos, and I say that because they're the most biased shows in the world, every question every guest everything is slanted. WAS President Trump wrong? We'll ask our panel next then. They come back to the panel six Democrats. This is the panel. This is the bounce once the put Chris Christie in there and he knows not to go too far defending trump otherwise you'll be out of a job and then What's that? Chuck Todd when the guest is a Republicans tearing them apart every time they opened. His mouth is nine. Follow up questions. He's backing away and then they come back from commercial and the same Chuck Todd. And he's this nice. Guy Let's the person answer. It's like Jekyll and Hyde So. But you've got to remember that you get annoyed watching these shows, most people don't watch the Sunday morning shows ninety eight percent of America maybe ninety nine percent never sees the Sunday morning shows that talking to a combined total of four or five million people and that's it. And the lowest rated of them is Chris, Wallace. So! Why would the president? He can do any Sundays show. You could call up any of these shows. They'll do an hour with you. Why did you? Why did he choose Chris Wallace? Everybody's missing that. Knowledge of the volunteer for this he chose Chris Wallace to do this with because over the last year or two Chris, Wallace has become the most annoying of these guys. The most hated around America a lot of people in New York. Especially you upper east side a dinner party crowd Southampton crowd the trump failures Chris Wallace. Respected shirtless. He's the most hated guy all across America's. He's just so annoying and obnoxious. And that's why the president chose him now. You GotTa give him credit for this. The president. That's pretty fearless. Pick the guy that's going to give you the most slanted most. Most ruthless, vicious brutal interview. Pick that voluntarily and go do it for an hour. because the president looks like he's falling into traps, but he actually it's just like animal instinct. He knows what's going to work watching him battle. Chris Wallace helps him a lot across America now. This interview yesterday became like a Rohrschack test. If you go on twitter afterwards, your watch everybody's comments. They're liberal. trumpeters thought that trump was wiped out. That's what they saw. They thought that this was the end of the trump campaign. He was completely wiped out. He was destroyed by Chris Wallace. Now. If you look at the trump lovers, they taught Chris Wallace. Look like a fool. He was embarrassed. He was humiliated but it was. It was, and it was the thing that Sunday shows. Years ago when it was real Sunday shows you know with. He doesn't know it's a real crisis. Not Handle it for six years. If you've got a big prison that'll hold everybody and it's on an island. Nothing could be more secure. Why would you wanNA close that down and open five prisons? Prisons all over the place to make up for it first of all. Why spend the money to build five prisoners? "Thanks mark. Thanks for calling. Take Care Let's go to Vincent Vincent. Good Morning MOC MOC. There's a big difference in how police treat you. In the United States especially in these big liberal blue cities like New York in this Maniac Mirror Minneapolis who have used the police departments of these cities as social experiments, their more concerned with getting diversity but diversity where a lot of times you getting people who are too short, who overweight who even may have mental problems like this cop? Obviously add mopped. I've been tossed in new. York City in California and. And when I was torched in Italy by the real inside Lingo there, he's been tossed. Not. What you know what I mean, mock I. Know! Would I mean ma? I've been even slip searched by the secret police. In Italy I've got who went to get hazard pay for? Machine guns in their arms and everything mock. I was always treated in Italy whenever something happens like that Mr, so and so do this Mr so and so do that Mr so and so do this. Where is here a one time? My girlfriend is driving my car. My sports car because I had a little too many drinks and I was my birthday. We got stopped. The cops were bulk loaded mark. Let me preface this by saying. There's bad apples in every bunch. Yes, unfortunately I really think they could do a greatest square psychological screening of a lot of these. Stopped concentrating on getting the most diverse police force like the Joe, says get the best, not the most diverse. In this case. This wasn't a diversity from, but this cops are bad. Copies got ten prior incidents of terrible ridiculous violent stuff amy Klobuchar was the prosecutor declined to prosecute on one of them. It's just awful Vincent? Have you ever had you on anybody's neck? Dancer. But that guy was clearly. Clearly in the wrong, also people are saying why didn't deplete? Why didn't anybody bystanders do anything? That's all it was a main story on the news. Everywhere you turn for days, and suddenly nine eleven, and the story vantage never heard from again. This horrifying story here you know who's happy, Karen in Central Park. It got her off the news. Everybody forgot about it and it's gone. It wiped off the news. You won't hear about it again for weeks. Also who's Happy Mayor De Blasio? Average joked about him being the worst mayor in America. "Blasio and Cuomo did in some way in the crucial two weeks before the disaster became apparent at the same time. You also need You know you need politicians to figure out ways to balance public health with the imperatives that you can't keep a city like New York completely on lockdown over a hot summer. You have to figure out like what are school going to do. What are you going to do about the beaches all of these kind of things? So there is still a task of statesmanship beyond just listening to public health officials. Even if you do have to listen to the public health officials as a baseline for decision making what Ross just said Michelle makes me WanNa ask you do we do. We need revising policy to factor in quarantine fatigue. More than we are. And I'm thinking as I asked that question about the kind of astonishing reports from New York City over the weekend of people going to get takeout every beverages from bars and crowding on the sidewalk cheek by jowl and just sort of seeming unable to remember to socially distance after all of this time in lockdown is policy just going to have to acknowledge and accommodate a certain limit to what people can do. Let me don't you feel like you would probably do that if you were in their twenties I mean I think I probably would but I also understand right like living. This way is really horrible. You're definitely not going to be able to override as fundamentally human impulse as being near and socializing with other people. Okay all right. Let's stop there a question for our listeners..

Have new. York's failures become America's heartache but I think we're we're at a point now where we can say that diplomacy Oh and to a lesser extent. "So Charlie Build Blasio that in the news this week with the tweet warning the Jewish community and other communities but especially the Jewish community that They had fair warnings and now they and NYPD is GonNa come and get him summons and arrest them if they continue to have the gatherings higher than recommended the proximate cause of this tweet was a civic civic funeral and Brooklyn. What do you make of it? Are you GonNa? It's an odd tweet. I think it was oddly. Phrased the presumptions odd from what I understand. That funeral was given permission to go ahead. And those that broke. The rules were knowledged and indeed apologize full by its organizes. I am not one who likes to throw words around. Big Anti Semite Racist. Let's people exist. They do it is of course a hideous thing that there are some among us who hate other space on their immutable characteristics. But I don't think biolog- that your average person in America hobbies hatred towards his fellow man and I think build a buzzy does either. I do think that he ought to rethink how he communicates especially given world history in this area and I think that there's a certain double standard here. I did wonder when I saw that. Tweet how long it would have taken had say. Donald Trump tweeted it to see the mushroom clouds on the horizon. We would probably have talked about nothing else for days but that would have been because the press and the Democratic Party would have overreacted. And I don't want to overreact here against Bill de Blasio. What I do want to do is to bury bill de Blasio as an effective public official. He's not one. He's a poor mayor. He's a poor communicator. He's not strong thinker. He hasn't handled this well. And it seems to me that if bill de Blasio the mayor of different city if he were the mayor of say. Houston all boise or Jacksonville. He would be pilloried day in day out and all sorts of conclusions would be drawn about his leadership. He is the worst. Man Yorkers had for a long time he showed signs of being that right from the beginning I think it was in the first few months of his first administration that he royally screwed up the snow plowing in the streets. Much to the Chagrin of New Yorkers. He is not up to this task and I think rather than sharing anything particularly sinister rather than implying. That de Blasio is an anti Semite or a racist or a bigot. Which I don't think he is. I think this shows that he's out of his depth and he doesn't know how to address people in what is a crisis. Unfortunately we have too much of that at all levels at the moment so I think there's something a little odd here that there's almost a hidden mental distinction that people like to Blasi. Oh Meek Me This is. This is my own form of of paranoia but some of the background. An anger is that you know New York City has about one over million Jewish people living in it. This funeral that was broken. Up was on a a more ultra-orthodox group And forgive me if I don't use the correct terminology. At every step along the way and characterizing them but These members of these ultra Orthodox groups especially in Brooklyn have been subject in New York City to a lot of random street violence It'S ACTUALLY NOT RANDOM. It's their targeted by You know often of members of other racial minorities in the city who don't like choose or who don't like the way. Jewish businesses operate in Brooklyn. Or the way you know heavily. Jewish apartment blocks are operated. I don't know but there's been a simmering anger at de Blasio for not calling this out and dealing with it effectively And it's very sensitive. I think the Distinction de Blasio makes with ultra-orthodox Jews. And I think it's one that's that's held in other incidents is that well there are Jews and you know the people that populate even the Dubois Zeo Administration in in the mayoralty that are secular. And then there's this other group that is cordoned off as kind of ultra religious freaks. Whose behavior is in some way unaccountable. Or you know. Somehow those people deserve what they get and So I don't think when he was formulating that tweet he was thinking about you. Know Jews writ large but I think he was thinking in the smaller category of you know people who live differently In New York City live in a way. That's visibly a noticeably different in New York City And that are you know. Kind of a constant source of negotiation with police and with You know various bodies the administration so I think something like was informing this event and But it was an ugly thing to tweet and deserves pretty much all the criticism. He's getting for it It was thoughtless and it's also just disrespectful because this this group did try to organize with police For their funeral and In the police allowed the situation to get out of hand the fact that NYPD doesn't respect bill de Blasio is not new. That's been true since he was elected in fact they actively loathe him and so probably didn't feel like imposing his edicts on Some very well behaved members of the community in general so it was a totally avoidable incident But blasi deserves just about everything. That's happening to him. Charlie Cook exit to you and sheer political terms who has fared worse in the Krona Virus Crisis Bill De Blasio or Donald Trump Belda blasios probably but trump may may pay greater price for it in that trump is running for president in a few months. Bill De Blasio was already done med. I'm I mean the trump because I think he I think trump is rapidly heading towards I think he's almost heading towards lame duck status In that the administration has been slow on so many sectors of this crisis has promised so many things that have just not materialized. I mean remember the promise of testing centers outside of every Walmart and target This was a promise made in the White House lawn and just disappeared as vaporware and it seems like more little crises are going to happen including meat shortages. And I just don't think a president can get reelected when basic necessities are rationed and And there are shortages. So I'M GONNA say trump agree that the trump having a bad and political terms crisis more consequential stakes are higher For him I think de Blasios had worst one. I mean. He's been at. The very epicenter of this was late at every single. Turn and then has also overreacted. Then and absurd ways. I have sympathy shutting down the schools telling people. Subways aren't safe. Those really hard things to do and things that I think anyone is certain level would hesitate to do but he got those calls wrong but trump clearly has been hurt. There is at rally around the flag period where it wasn't a huge rally around the flag but a notable rally round the flag fact whereas approval rating was up. He's giving back those gains and some more Just because the response was late Initially and he's been shooting himself in the foot At press briefings. And it's just a a major red flashing light when you're the president United States during crisis and people think your opponent would be better suited to handle that crisis and especially when you're ponant is Joe Biden Sitting as basement impressing no-one otherwise so let's pause and let me do a quick and our plus plug got. "Org Mrs Ben Max from Gotham Gazette and now to talk about our current mayor and his own ups and downs and really what we want to focus on here for the next ten minutes or so is Mayor de Blasio in his agenda. We can obviously reference some somewhat back to the Bloomberg discussion but really You know we haven't had a chance much to discuss. The mayor's state of the city address which he gave last week. He then went to Albany on Monday. Okay to give his annual state budget Testimony on the governor's budget plan than other city agenda items. So let's dig into that for a little while and that of course it can also help us segue into our discussion later on homelessness because home assists continues to be one of the mayor's most challenging issues so so the Blasi agenda that that you heard this. Save our city our city. What I thought of as I was watching the mayor under the giant whale? which is I have always been creeped out by was was what we had on this very show? Several weeks back with reporters who cover the mayor talking about the importance of of this moment for de Blasio. The idea that he is mayor entering his last two years. Maybe with a a much shorter time line than that to actually get something done a mayor. WHO's been bruised? A bit by the presidential campaign seen his political capital fall that if he was going to kind of sees a moment and try to push another way of significant policy changes. This was it and it struck me Ben that the mayor and getting the speech that he gave with the theatrics that That he wrapped it in that he recognized is D- that that moment had come what I don't know is if he has really positioned itself with what he said To seize it. I think that's very well said a struck just about everybody that I could tell as strange that he decided on this theme of Save Our city when it's his seventh year as mayor and he's got two years left And that begs. Of course the question. Why weren't you saving our city previously? And how do you explain that. And you know his answers on that in some subsequent interviews and even in his explanation were sort of that We've done a lot but the affordability crisis for both people in there You know in their in their living situations renting especially but also small businesses has accelerated to such a degree. I think he said in one interview that we could could never have imagined which it really just strikes me as Bizarre in a number of ways that he had this theme that that's how he explained blended and that.

"From booker. Here's Today from the campaign trail this morning. New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio dropped out of the presidential race he went on MSNBC's morning joe to make that announcement. Let's listen to that brief clip here so getting out there being able to hear. People's concerns addressed them with new ideas. It's been extraordinary experience but I have to tell at the same time I feel like I've contributed all I can to this primary election and it's clearly not my time so I'm going to end in my presidential campaign continue my work as mayor of New York City and keep speaking up for working people now as with all major candidates who drop out. Let's look back at some highlights from that. The blasios campaign first off announced on May sixteenth of this year which was very late the only two Democratic candidates. I'm tracking who announced insulator are Joe SESTAK and Tom Steyer. De Blasios spent just one hundred twenty seven days in the race in an article for New York magazine Margaret Hartman summed up the New York perspective on the race quote despite a list of progressive accomplishments in New York such as universal pre-k and raising the minimum wage to fifteen dollars. Here's what to blasios contributed to the primary race was mainly an opportunity to make jokes about the wild unpopularity of his presidential bid in the months before the mayor announced just campaign everyone from former aides to his own wife expressed doubts about his run in April a Quinnipiac poll found seventy six percent percent of New Yorkers felt he should not launch a twenty twenty campaign with only eighteen percent supporting the idea these reservations proved well-founded did after he entered the race to Blasi consistently pulled around zero to one percent and he had little chance of qualifying for the October debate a Sienna College poll released three days ago go had to Blasio at zero percent among voters in both New York City and New York state end quote and out so I'm going to pick one solid highlight from de Blasios campaign in a CNN townhall on August Twenty Fifth Blasios gave an excellent answer to a question about immigration Russian reading here from my own script next day. Quote a student named joy asked him the question quote wouldn't a guaranteed right to healthcare including undocumented immigrants only in of is more undocumented immigrants to come to the United States and quote to Blasi. Oh thank the student for asking the question and in a a gentle way proceeded to reject its premise and explain what he called quote our actual reality and quote he went on to describe how president trump's rhetoric around immigration gratien creates a perception of immigrants as an invading force that somehow takes away from other citizens de Blasios reject that premise and gets into specifics about what he thinks the real problem is end quote and here is that clip what we should do is make sense of this American reality rather than try into curse the darkness. Let's light a single candle and I say not only do we need the competence of immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship we also. I need a guest worker program to recognize this huge. Swath America did not have enough people to do work. That's needed for our economy and we could make sense of that with a guest worker program and we can have an open and honest conversation but actually get to the heart of joys question. We have to acknowledge the really horrible politics underlying underlying this that for decades. There's been an effort to demonize immigrants. It's been all about color remember Donald Trump literally first day of his campaign. Am Pain attacked Mexican Americans and described them as criminals as an entire population so this has always been about race and it should not be but it has been if we recognize that there's many many people in this country who happened to be American citizens. Many of them happened to be white who they themselves are legitimately struggling. They're American dreams not working out. There economically challenged the next generations not doing as well as I hope. They have a lot outta debt. There's a lot of problems in their lives. They're frustrated. I don't blame them for being frustrated but they've been told for years and years the immigrants did it to him and I WANNA be blunted by the immigrants didn't do that to you. Wall Street did that to you. The big corporations to you. The guy in the kitchen or the guy didn't have the power to do that to you. Only those who had the power and wealth concrete an economy so unfair to work in people in middle class last people so once we unmask that truth and I think we should all speak that truth with energy then we can answer the rest of the equation. Why do I think it's important to give healthcare fair to human beings who are part of our communities because they're human beings if you don't give them health care air they'll get sick. Everyone else gets sick and then they will seek healthcare where what we talked about before in the emergency room and guests to pay for it anyway all all of us. Why are we stopped the fiction and help our fellow human beings who are part of our American reality in an article for NBC News to Blasi explains in his own words why he is leaving the race and offer some advice to the remaining candidates reading from that article quote? I promise I'll fight for New Yorkers and workers everywhere everywhere to ensure. There's an actual plan to protect their livelihood from being automated out of existence. I'll also help ensure. Our party continues to be remade. He made in the image of the activism. I've seen all across this nation. Democrats must return to our roots party focused on bold solutions that speak to the concerns of working people if we do not we will lose in twenty twenty. Yes Donald Trump lies to working people but he at least pretends to talk to them. that may be enough for him to win if we do not constantly make it clear that the. Democrats are the party of everyday Americans in rural counties and urban urban centers the coasts and the heartland end quote.

"We ended stop and frisk the way it was being used. Did you end you completely because i thought some people were critical at the this is the windows but theory that <hes> you know if you check on things as little as a broken window or stop and frisk. It'll get rid of a <hes> even more serious crime but do you feel that <hes> you have stopped that enough. <hes> some of your critics say no stop and frisk frisk as a strategy we there's very few stops now and they're only done when there's a specific rash now which is the only appropriate use of stop and frisk. It's a night and day. It's over ninety percent reduction and it has fundamentally changed reality the relationship between police and community. I wanna there was another moment and it involved involved police as well of a very powerful emotional moment in the c._n._n. Townhall when you were asked about the recent spike in police suicides in new york it's happening in other cities too is terrible and <hes> an officer asked. How can you improve mental health for the military when it's so obviously bad among the police police force you add some answers for that and i i want to hear from you but you also explain why this is something that hits home to you that your own father <hes> world world war two veteran so is mine killed himself took his life when you were just eighteen. This is not something you are unaware of no no and and robin so you probably know from your own experience. I mean the the folks come back from war. Come back carrying a plot the my dad's case it was p._t._s._d. He'd been one of the worst battles in history on okinawa and lost half a leg into a grenade and the emotional toll. I saw it as a young child. It got worse each year. He would push away help and then he was gone and he he might a lived if he could just accept the help and we've got today in america were losing folks folks who have served us because they still feel like there's something there's some shame in asking for help. We all have to fix that. The government has to fix it with making mental health care the justice accessible as physical health care but we all have to speak up and say there's a mental health challenge. There is nothing wrong with it. Just come forward and let's get the help people indeed it's their mayor de blasio as i watched you speak so passionately about this <hes> and powerfully in the c._n._n. Townhall aw i found myself thinking what happened here because as you will know <hes> you know you had an upset win in new york your family mixed race ace was there was a feeling especially in the obama era of forward movement and yet it feels feels like some air one out of that tire and then we came across the new york times article hell bill de blasio went from progressive hope to punching bag and it you talked about how you didn't seem to come across new yorkers as liking the city and that there was some sort of momentum that was lost. What do you think what happened to that energy well. I i'm gonna just tell you a different story. I think there's a difference between sort of the the public discourse and then what people are actually living. I have young people come up to me all the time <hes> young men of color and say thank thank you. I'm not stopped all the time by police..

"Zero nine two eight seven seven and talking about the healthcare proposal, you know, at the press commerce yesterday, obviously officials from the health and hospitals corporation, which will be the source for where this new care will come from spoke. And it's interesting bespoke a lot in last year's about Nitra, but another public system that kind of hit a big crisis de Blasio was health and hospitals, partly because of the Affordable Care Act and the way that changed hospital finance the mayor had to inject a lot of money to keep it afloat. It's still plans to adjust a lot of money. The city does over over the next few years. What was your impression turns the answer the city gave about the capacity of that system to handle the new customers that might becoming the door. If this plan reaches the six hundred thousand folks, the mayor the mayor spoke about. I have to say I a lot of the other reporters of the room were shocked yesterday to hear sort of a lot of good news coming out of health and hospitals in a very short period of time. You know, the mayor alluded to the fact that that the held anonymous corporation all of a sudden is in a much better situation in terms of cash flow. The wait time have dropped dramatically from about three months if the primary care physician earlier this year to one to two weeks. It seems like there's a real story brewing hoping all stills of of kind of a turnaround. You know, and if what everybody was saying yesterday is true. It sounds like the bulls will at some point be prepared to care for all of the people..
