"Net goal by Blake McLaughlin leads to go for scores against Notre Dame and 15 games. He has 13 points. The top goal scorers against the fighting Irish are Brandon McManus and Blake McLaughlin, each with five Sample Raanta with four goals and four assists. Just thought on the attack. They come across the line. Ben Brickman, carrying it down to the right corner dropped it back, rolled down further by Brodzinsky. But that's turned over and placed it out to center. Ice by the Irish will be no icing is hustling after his land and swagger. Getting around is going under the right side now for Ralston, Ralston sends back over to the other side of the rank, and it's taken in deep now, Beiste as me the defenseman, he was all the way around the zone, finally pinned to the board by Brinkman and slow down enough for Minnesota's able to get the fuck they'll chip it off the boards and out to center ice, just missing an attempt for Sorenson breaking up the middle backing behind the net. Spencer's 1000 in his own zone. Where the cross ice pass that lands in front of the Minnesota bench. They go for D taking it over and Nelson furthers it back into the zone quickly, right back up ice on a transition play for Notre Dame, Here's Ralston and the Minnesota and Ryder Ralston. Dumping it into the corner. Doug Free and back onto the point quick shot by Wraith from theirs turned wide by laugh. Fontaine Stick Minnesota chipping it again off the glass and outside his own Irish plop it right back in his ego for a line change, or you're exactly right. Well, Gophers. Having pretty good success. Very good success coming out of his own, But then it fizzles away at neutral. Ice. Yeah, Mr Tough place to go right now. Not a lot of room out there. Jake Ivanka shot wide. It allows Nelson escaped the Gophers out of his own. He sends it in deep McGlaughlin in on the four check now strips the puck away trying to play back to the point does for Walker. Given goals he tried to cut out in front, Walker's forced wide into the left corner. Both McLaughlin and Nelson are there with him back to the point is played by Sami to look calm. He darts down the boards into the corner that a goal for defenseman plays it to the right side for Walker, who tried to play it out in.

"Satchels like chips and chocolate holiday Has you covered open the door Dash happened. Get all of your favorite delivered today from holiday restrictions apply. That was my editorial comment about Marty Central's chips. Chocolate. Good combos are essentials. They are in assault under the attacks. Only go up on top to the point favor. Sends it to his left. Receives it back on the right point. Back over to Johnson. Bryan Johnson walking down played in the last two world junior tournaments hasn't rounding the neck now drop you back on the point. We see the back again. He in favor our two man show out here defensively. I was passed out in front of the shop. They really are all Meyers right on goal on covered up and held by the goal keeper Beydoun. Minnesota had more chances like that, in the opening 5 to 7 minutes of this first period. It's good to see them getting back right into the front right in the face of the goaltender for Wisconsin. Vice passing combination led by Brodzinsky with Myers out in front boy just a last second stick team in there from Lynn Mark to stop what would have been a really good attempt for Myers three minutes ago scoreless first period from Wisconsin. You go first Undefeated 10 and all. They trailed only a grand total of 19.5 minutes. So far this season. All of that happening last weekend against Arizona State 3% of the time frame so bad, I'm gonna win a lot of games that way scoreless period is the Badgers have it in their own end. Speeded up iced by Josh S. S s Minnesotan out of Lakeville South High School. 21 year old senior had a really good sparkling high school career, appearing on his final season of Wisconsin. I'm looking at the death of Minnesota. You get broad front since keep going, as he has been the last, Say 3 to 5 games here. Prepare him up with Myers. He never misses a beat. Myers is Point. So I think and nine of the 10 games and then Blake McLaughlin is always expect from that left side. Not your third line. That's a dangerous line. Yes, it is. Go first, with park forced to turn his luck home, playing it over to the defense partner. Steady. Scott occur, Matt. We'll dump it in Wisconsin back after the fuck in their own zone and this sweet and pelting him. Closing at Cooper's trying to set up a jam back into the corner. Helton and getting it there. And this time he gets enough vices. Wisconsin's Holloway coming down the light side wall is stopped in his tracks by static er, who then pushes of ahead on the Gophers break in here. The right side, Pastor McManus World Walker. The shot is blocked by the defense and that one stung Gofer still weather trying to pop it out in front locker center. It manana shot blocked off some legs, but it's follow. Look home right up the middle fires right on Baidu say's it's still not clear, static, her wrist one that's blocked comes right back to him. Scott occur passing off to the right side for McManus backhands into the point. Anna sent by static. You're back down low for Walker. Wrong The net for Sorenson, Johnny with goals and two straight games. Passing it off to the point Scott occurs sends it back to the other side. Walker will take it off the boards on releases a shot deflected wide ripped right back up onto the blue line. Now Bullock home McCall pass into his left go first changing on the goals. They keep the momentum down in the attacks on but finally the badger regain possession. We'll just throw it down, Ice will not have enough. Time they get to be a nice in violation. 40 seconds to go in the opening period. It's scoreless. McLaughlin trying to hope muscle, his man is locked down, but does play the pluck indeed, onto the point for block favor a gold medalist back down into the corner, go first trying to regain possession down there. Big scramble of players. And finally, the Badgers will flip it. The center ice streaking after it. Is he forward Sam staying who wears number three golfers come right back. Roginsky down.

"We saw each other we call each other boy. So I was laying. On on the ground before anything, I got any sense of where I was. In I hear the word. Hey, boy. Now, it's nothing I can hear see but I hear hey, boy now I had no idea which working at day I don't even know that semi truck is there I mean assume but I didn't thought of it. I didn't think of it that way and a come out to find out later of course that he didn't make it that day he was working. And you know. Something I just thought in my mind or that I was really talking to me that day. So I'm sitting at and I'm saying, what am I gonNa do I can't do I can't walk I can't. In either nowhere. I'm Kobe from head to toe with us. And people more people coming around coming around and out of nowhere to guys my firehouse. Showing up, they were in the hotel lobby building came down they company they got out and somehow they walked away they went around the way to came out and we. Made is and Tyrone Johnson and Jimmy grow from lot of twenty four. So, they come on with me and. The three. Three of them to them, help me get up and. They said, we gotta get over by the water get away from the building so All right. So Jimmy, he's got a broken nose is all messed up so they have to help me get over in a way. So now you got bird somebody's straggling you helping you walk in they're pulling you too soon too fast. In the killing me know my leg is just. So bad that. We do it on my own I'll just take it easy. So now we walk walking away and just as we get in front of Tower, the north tower and it now clear now, you can get good visibility and you could see the towers down and. So just get in front of that, but we're in front of it but. On the other side of the highway far enough away from me. And myself and tyrone. The pancake of the boom boom boom, we turn around and we see that building coming down. So now, I went from not being able to walk to running. The three of US start running away again, the dust cloud, the air and everything starts the dusk pelting you when we fall down but it was enough to knock you down and choke, and this time was able to put my head in my coat to breathe. So in the distance like you see there stars and then you went down to the water's edge was a brick concrete. World Rolling the war what away. So I just started to walk I said you know what's going to happen it's going to happen I couldn't run anymore psalmist taken one step at a time and I found the staircase it's only a couple of steps I walked down the stairs I get to the concrete wall I knew I had to go north so I turned to the north and I just started walking out until I came out of the dust cloud. So now I can see Jimmy he's already out of the dust cloud pretty much. He's so near the edge, the water's edge. So I get I almost get to them and I turn and is. Behind. And I'm just looking at a I didn't want to go back into it to go back to you know just. Do WanNa. Go back into it. So I can't leave go back. So I take two stops. and. By the time I took two steps because I was too quick. I see a shadow. Coming at me and thankfully tyrone he didn't see the stairs. He saw downstairs. So my time and got up and got herself together. So the three of US walked North Aditya Dust Cloud. and not as boats and everything taking people from New York to Jersey. And I. Now once I get you know adrenaline stops and everything else. I couldn't I couldn't walk at all. My leg was just I couldn't even think baby step, which is so bad. So they're telling me get on a boat and take you to Jersey to the hospital. I Want WanNa go to Jersey 'cause. I didn't know where to my company was you know I didn't know where we what the guys in a truck were right because. They WANNA rating with them but the engine guys. and. You guys nine and what answering radios? So they convinced me finally to get on a boat. So I got on a boat and they brought me New Jersey Jersey City medical. Of Big Triage area set up on the Jersey. Side. and. They will me off on a stretcher? They. Put Me on a park bench and then everybody loves me I'm. Nobody's there's nobody know taking care I mean no nothing. Finally, a couple of a couple of guys come take my blood pressure everything out, and then they leave and like I'm just sitting there by myself and a woman came by and she wanted to know if there was anybody I want her to call me and I gave them my wife's number at work and she finally eventually of course of the day when she was able to get through to tell her that I was right and. So. Eventually, it put me in an ambulance and they want me to city. Medical. Center. and. They mopped. It was just mass confusion over than it had so many people evacuated Jersey and they figure that New York would be run meanwhile around Jersey with overran in New York had hardly anybody. So I want to check me up. Any. Trays. Stitched, up my leg where it was torn open and then they put us in a room just cops firemen an ems people. Separate No. No windows who couldn't see anything. So we're sitting up there. I'm covered from head to. Toe unfiltered. And they will eventually letting guys go take showers get cleaned up and everybody kept asking me I wanted to go take a shower and I didn't feel like doing anything. It's time I just wanted to sit there. And I kept saying I'm alright. I'm alright. So I'm watching these those cells taking showers show dirty but. Really that bad some of them and. Finally I go and take a shower I'm talking like later I finally go. So I walk past a mirror in the bathroom. And I'm. So much dust on my hair and my face. Black soot all over the. That's what he wanted me to take a shower. I'm so I'm so I'm so day. So just stitches in my leg and they say, you know get such as what? Well, how you going to take a shower if you don't get the stitches way. So I, use the Polish Shampoo and borrow finally got most of the dirt off me. And came back they'd be bandaged my leg. And That got infected after a few days. And then. I. Asked a nurse or not even a case workers with a bunch of women you know getting US whatever we needed. Very nice. Extra I said, is there any way we can get? We can find out who's hospital are the guys from our companies you know if the here not So she said, well, she'd go downstairs and make a list. They had a bunch of blackboards in a triage area and had your name and your medical condition on and alkyl find out if she comes back with a bunch of papers and. Names or over. A billion, some cops could be anybody. So finally I see a name of lieutenant who's on it actually that lieutenant was working in the truck that day. Lieutenant and you to be working in twenty four truck is Lieutenant. So I see Blake McLaughlin. So X does this mean that the year and fine or this just means had been brought here it could be deceased. And she didn't know she says, I don't know it just on the board. Five minutes away the ten minutes later hit comes blake walking into the into the room which played the sequence. Now I had somebody with me. A few minutes later. You know I'm like I was pretty shaken up. And A. I won't blink, there I. Wish. I talked to Mike for the Michael Jordan. Of course, he was a priest in the church across the street from. Saint. Francis Saint Francis. And he's also to find chaplain and it was you know really good guy and we all know very well. So, I, didn't know what time he tells me because you don't know what you should for the Mike good making..

"To three marina Mariucci Wally Shaver Paul black car audio engineer and head coach Bob my skills we continue with gopher hockey weekly we talked about some of the of the pointstreaks earlier Scott reed he's got going and Blake McLaughlin Ascot now seven eight games Sammy walkers got points on eleven of thirteen the freshman Myers is doing a fantastic job Bobby's got points in eight of the last ten games McManus is scoring with great regularity sample Ranta points and for the last six you got a half a dozen guys that are really clicking on all cylinders right now picking up points and that's helped bring up that goals for average for the golden gophers no last ten games to where it's almost four goals a game well it it off we go back to a recording earlier around Christmas time if if and I think I I've said it many times that if our team was short one thing that could help turn tied for us was offense and we had the players that we're gonna do it remember also all these guys you're talking about except for reading McMaster freshmen sophomores and throw bras in Skinner's at just souls now Sorenson now's got six goals I think the you start this conference early in the year with the young guys and it takes awhile and they stuck with it and and that is the key that's turned for us is how many times were we like they don't even say Saturday and then give left when the credit you know we extend that by one by one more goal the game gets is over yeah and Ohio state right before Christmas to one lead was self minister goal that we end up losing we were a team in dire need of finding a way to score and then the confidence comes from that and that you know and it's going to get real tough down the stretch now because the games are so important but we do have a much better swagger bodice offensively as another term I use we need to get that swagger and that's why we're off to an eight two in the second half and then I'll even say like look Coleman in Johnson are really helping us build their bed and they're real puck movers the goal we scored the first goal of the game it Ryan Johnson makes a incredible break out in it looks so simple the way he makes it but but there is that's that transition game that we were short did you know a year ago where he gets us going in transition and then boom we get up the rank and in the end and score this building is coming in and yet with young guys all you were going to make mistakes like we did in the third period but in all we we are we're in a good spot right now with with this young team and and building confidence and and now we're gonna be put to a test you know was it was a hard loss they'll get a bounce back on the road to road trips in a role the two pretty good I could use we're gonna play start with Notre Dame in Notre Dame coming up this weekend the schools did play earlier this year it was a two two tie in the first game although the gophers won it in the three on three overtime period and then the loss five to three in the second game Notre Dame's kind of an interesting team to watch they were unbeaten in their first eight games then they went on a schedule they want only to in fifteen their scoring a dried up their goals against went way up but now all of a sudden there on beat in their last three games have you been able to get much of a handle on war Notre Dame as well or even pay attention to that at the moment you just summed up six teams in our league I mean you could say the same thing for us you know the the you know Michigan state's been produced thirty I mean Jeff Jackson knows what he's doing he's he's a big time coaching and and they had some older kids really get off to a good start a and error number when we play them right away to start the year and they they were on a roll right off the bat we'll teach catch up then there was an adjustment then they kinda slid and now they're kinda back on it'll be that they're doing what are entirely in all our league is so hard to navigate B. S. you know you don't have a weekend where it all stock the old WCHA you could have a weekend okay was wearing a two wins yeah yeah statistically you had a chance alright there's one weekend we build some points get a couple wins do they're not freebies but you would high percentage well you have there's no high percentage you got to be ready to go every weekend and Notre Dame is just like the six teams I mean Michigan was in last place for a long while yeah and now they are it'll Michigan is twenty seven points they are right back in the thick of it playing very good hockey in Seoul it you know if the other teams in our conference or have the radio show right now the coaches say the same thing yeah you know so get used the the fact that Minnesota's power play is getting some great looks I thought they did in the in both games this past weekend still a percentage I'm sure is not exactly where you'd like to see it and and recently has been down a little bit but it we we we are seeing some progress right that how how would you describe the power play right now yep a huge do nailed it the first thing I look at is is are you know are we getting good looks are we getting opportunities we're getting chances which we did especially Friday you know we didn't have quite as many opportunities on Saturday but we really could have put a few more and McManus Laughlin hits the polls dead dead on and left makes a couple big saves and and and then second in all of them are we scoring we we do need a power play to answer if you're gonna win big down the stretch your power play us dancer and and we gave up one on the penalty kill both nights are penalty kills got to take a step forward and I can switch it but somehow some way we're trying to get that other unit going as well now and I think they've been better with Ranton reedy it all in and ultimately do we have to change personnel little bit you know to be out there for more than a asked a minute of guys are gonna be able to you know produce offensively for us and and you know but we're getting chances it looks okay but we may be at a point where you know the next couple weeks we may have to try a couple of things and and you know get ran to somewhere or reedy in all more playing time on the top power play and and that's just part of be more productive right right and I know you've missed a few things up you've tried different things back on the backline there sometimes of use a a unit with two defenseman out there but a lot of times it's just a single guy over there if you're looking at that part of it well the we've been the most productive was Stocker you know we're we're he scored again the other day and he he he really has a great feel on the on the blue line I think our young guys are going to be there in time they're just not there yet but stalker is it is the top I wish we could get him some more minutes during the game to keep him into it more and that's what we're working towards but he he he's great on the office of blind so we've got you know we've got options there I I don't think that's our issue or the car issue was this past that right now okay were but with their you started the office of talk with those guys we're we're in a better spot emotionally mentally with confidence with with a large group of guys were we can find it and and where we keep searching another area that I think is critical in the game is we what we've always talked about this in the past was just faceoffs it's the golfers are getting much better on the draw of certainly the overall percentage on the the the season for a big body of work it is under fifty percent but this past weekend against Michigan state that's one of the top teams in the entire nation I think they were fourth overall coming in against faceoffs it was even on the Friday night game and I think they want to more than us on Saturday so going up against one of the best teams in the country on draws other golfers had a very successful weekend almost fifty percent and we want to be sixty but I'll tell you the from Christmas on you know Sammy Walker has really taken a step in that was been one of the families there is a really has to concentrate on he's been a highly successful band Myers continues to be good Jackson Nelson a little bit hit miss forties on is really good Scott reed to give us his draws me and blossoms been helping on the one side were really give Bangor credit for talked about last week he's really working with our our centers right now in our guys taken the draws we are vastly improved in we in our numbers I know the second half of been where you need them to be yeah and and that that's a positive for us before we get off the subject on faceoffs do you like to have set plays from a draw or a pen more on his own well the yes Amir have structure with what you're trying to do well you know early in the year we're just trying to win it in F. and and the biggest thing too is is you know you could have plays but you want to have you one of the right structure to hunted if you lose it and and so sometimes you may you know that and that this is one I don't know what they are if you might lose the draw but our precious so quick to get there that we end up winning it back yeah and and I think we put more emphasis on our fight to get to the puck than an actual face off play desert face all plays are are very low low percentage to score what's high percentage is to win the draw and keep it on the office of side if you lose it to win it back right away those are specifics that are are highly favorable to the success of the game would come up with the park and I think our emphasis is more on that than than specific trick plays off a faceoff golden gophers travel to Notre Dame for para games this weekend Friday and Saturday nights we'll be back and talk more with head coach Bob Moscow and our engineer Paul black after this.

"Far Bob has been a it's been a challenging season at times it's been great at times it's been a real Debbie Downer at times but we go into the second half and we had absolutely wonderful start for this hockey team picking up two straight wins in the Mariucci classic a first of all beating Bemidji very passkey and stubborn Bemidji team by a five to to count and then following up with a very impressive win over St cloud state for one a team that had the day before the feet of the number two ranked Minnesota state Mavericks all right that's a great start to the second half for graduations on that you're darn right it is and and you know I made a comment in and after the game you know sometimes I have to clarify if you if you always put a microphone in front of a coach they know they're gonna screw up I mean they're gonna say something that some fans not gonna like because you know I'm not trained in do you know be a talker and they have it all the time welcome to our world you know and and disability archer say something come back and bite you in the end but it was true what what I said after the the the series is is go for hockey said that seven nine and then for whatever record is there I get that in the end we understand that the goal for hockey loyalist in all of us know that that's a record that we we don't like see me no question but we you win a big game for us and they were big games for a young hockey team you have to you know you have to celebrate those without me we're not swing from a chandelier yeah but but is you're growing these are big victories for for our team is is we go through there is going to be a day our record is going to reflect what all the goal for nation wants to see it's going to it's going to happen but you're building toward that end wins like that the end I don't know we did got through the book made you gave an upbeat saying cloud and it played very well that night for that moment for that hockey team you know what it was good it was a great weekend force and and and now we roll on from it in and sometimes that's the you know when you when you coach great programs and whether it be basketball or football you know when you have a young hockey team you gotta go through those steps to keep climbing the ladder to getting to where you want you can't lose sight of that and dealers my little you know little and that was it was a great it was a very good weekend force coming off a break in important weekend I don't have all the history right now the recent history of Minnesota's record gets Minnesota teams I just know it hasn't been real good exactly we have tests Deutsch you to to break it down it really doesn't matter but you know what for to throw that tournament together and then for the gophers to win it Hey you know what we we get the it Brady rate for a for a day for the year twenty four hours the little breaking right on that too and then have got on our guys and in something we got to continue to build on and move forward yeah and we move for this weekend a plane at Michigan state for a pair of conference games in the big ten before we get into talking about them though I don't know in the first half you've talked about wanting to see the emergence of certain players on this team I thought a really mmhm good emerging type of play was what we saw when Blake McLaughlin broker to to tie in their first game against Bemidji taken the puck off the boards walking out in front between the two circles patiently waiting to find his body one via and bingo emails with game winning goal they had in and he's one of these guys I'm sure that you'd like to see why put up a bit it will no question that the plague is a player that is going to wrap it up and and the other thing I said as we have some really good hockey players are gonna they're just they just don't know it yet and and that could contribute at a high level and that game with the Meiji that night but Meiji think they've all given up two goals on the penalty kill all you're going into that that's crazy and one was open net goal they must've been down late pull it'll pull their goalie and in the you give one out but it's crazy how good of a defensive team they are and a good hockey team they are in the only way we were going to win that game was we needed someone to make a play wasn't going to be on a team because duh there SO dialed it defensively it was gonna be a tip for a deflection made they don't take a lot of penalties you know I don't think we really get a power play or you need a player to make a play and they all their guy throws up the wall and in in Blake standing on the blue line and it's a turnover and then Blake goes to work yeah and you know what sometimes in sports you need players to make big time plays and and and that's what that game either it was it was someone had to make a mistake but it doesn't make many we were pretty dialed in or someone had to make a great play there was placement Laughlin bang and and come against the grain and and his great lateral speed and in the throes of the upper corner and and were able to hang on to to finish that one off so and another guy he kinda like that in a boat is Scott reedy he did pick up three goals even the old tool more an empty nets it's just good to see a guy who's known to be a score to score absolutely Sam gets an open letter to which right now it goes in the box you get that feel good we had a little fun with reedy to in the film session this is so really with an old blind back cash back back hand what about icing berries in the open national right no doubt he think he had and so we have a little fun with them because it a one goal game you don't want to make that play because if the dicing because back in years old you just want to get across a red line at least said he went for the gold which is we'll get all the other guy that I I thought came through with a pretty good weekend we've got three brand new goals this year a Jack la Fontaine is technically a junior in is a a in his play because it is spent two years at Michigan for those who might not be familiar with his background he picks up the two wins or not that's something that you were looking for two is one of these three to take the reins as a I'm a guy well that's in that was a good start Jack had a good ending to it in awhile state we went with a bold games there and and came back to him here ID he is emerging right now as is really working his tail off in in in doing the right things in the the you know he had some misfortune as to the first half like those three bad Friday night games we were on him not him on us yeah and in he know he paid the sins of of getting walloped on three bad Friday nights and and but he is the fact that he's older he's been through some things he was able to put it behind and he's a great spot right now and that's creating great competition back there and in your if there was a wall one of the main areas that we need to have be better for us was goaltending and you know that the numbers ninety two steals a percentage and give us a chance and then Laffer was very very good all weekend before she made some critical saves in both games to to you know to hold serve sure they give us a chance golfers on the road again this weekend at Michigan state will step aside for just a moment and And the gophers have two to one lead to follow up on the video review coaches can request a review on a too many men on the ice infraction possible or offside that they've got to have a time out to spend on it. If they don't have a time out the for the review, those are the two requested reviews, and then I think after the ten minute Mark every anything can get reviewed. A little fuzzy, but we talked to see Jaber lean about some of that in our next mission. Tyler she brings the gophers up across center sends it left side for nanny his rooster is deflected away by the defenseman Maniscalco. Who? Now takes the puck behind the net. "Out with highlights and our network affiliate feed for three stars of the game. Mean you go in a one goal game. Boy it is hard to overlook goal scorers particularly game winning goals scores. So Scott power play goal. Hats off to the kitchen. Honorable mention on this list tonight, number three. Eric Cher horn, boy the guys battle for him. He battles for this team. And they battle for him. He winds up with twenty one saves which is not an enormous number of safes. But he made thirteen saves and that third period and many of his saves I and particularly third period while he's down right in front of us here. You can see how critical they are. You can see you know, when when he's making key saves like that. To those goals were odds bounces and I'm not I'm not saying he's not at fault or it couldn't have stopped him. But Eric sheer Horne came in and won a ballgame for these house. I think what you said at Beth they played for him to. Yeah. Which which is good number two Blake McLaughlin, if you came in and watch this game didn't keep any stats or anything. You might say was the best player on the ice tonight. I thought he was you know, in terms of what he was doing all over the ring. He got to assist. One of them was a while assist. Yeah. When he took a short pass and then passed off a short one all right within a phone booths area at the left goalpost and setup Burke on that goal McLaughlin was hitting hardy was digging. It was getting his fingernails dirty. He played a magnificent game that I of that whole freshman line at a number one star to the man from southern from from Scottsdale Arizona with a three point game. He figured in on the first second and third. Minnesota goals. How about that for a boost on the road house? And that is Nathan Burke getting his fourth goal on that wild pass from McLaughlin. And you know, we talked I had a chat with him on one of our trips which was in. The middle of one of those polar vortex. I don't remember what? And I said, so how does this compare to Scottsdale, and he said boys, really cold here? I said, you know, it's not as cold as it is in Saint Cloud, which is where he had committed before he changed. Minnesota. So anyway. Good for him. Okay. So Nathan Burke you number one star Blake mcglaughlin number two star. Eric sure horn, the number three star. Frank's got a host of other outta town scores pass along when we come back after this from learfield. IMG college. Welcome to this four ninety nine foot.

"One one hockey game with the golden gophers getting a power play goal from brand from Rob Blake McLaughlin, halfway through the period. And that tied the score up there Spartans took a lead at about the five minute Mark of the period. Wally you. Well. No, I guess I'm gonna just say this mostly for the benefit of the fans. This team is having fun this year. They really are. They enjoy each other. Joining the company they're joining the travel. The results have been getting better and better, and you know, of course, to three points now as the new standings, go makes the world a whole lot better. All right. So they lost last night. But we wanted to bring you a little bit of the fun that these guys are experiencing one of them would be a guy. We're going to call a veteran goaltender right now. That is Matt Robson. Here's his take on what this team is like this year. I've never been on a team that was a sing in the shower as much as this on really anywhere around the rink there. Always breaking out. Breaking like a beautiful harmonies. It's cool to see. And it's definitely makes it a lot of fun to come to the rank. That explains it right there right there. So Friday, we arrive here say the practice the early afternoon practice, and I'm walking between the dressing room and the entrance to the players bench. And as I'm going out to players are coming off the ice and they're singing. Believe it must've been a light practice. And who is there? But at least two members of that all freshmen live Sammy Walker was in there. Now, I don't know what the total count of how many guys and which class they are that singing in the shower, but the ones that is down the hallway where from that freshman line, and they weren't very good. They were not very good. But it was a lot of fun. All right. So let's go back to Bob Moscow. He called poppies last night who need a little more beef. He's called goofy. All right in a loving way. He calls them this today. Coach are you ready? And go there just goof-balls. I'll go back to that. They have this. They're unfazed by anything. They.

"Just play like I can never end a drill with mcglaughlin. Because if he's up he's a screaming at one more one more one more, and you got and you could be doing winced breaks. One more. Okay. Go ahead. Life, and that's their attitude, and it's cool when you get players like that that just they just play hard. They don't get rattled. And they go back they play hard, and they play it that way every day. I think they're a nuisance to the other team. There've been a lot of games they're turning the momentum. And at times are most consistent pressure line with her put pressure on the other team office is gonna come as it gets stronger. That's best hockey is we have seen it yet. They're good. They're good now fight. So the next time you go for game. And when you when you watch his watch Blake McLaughlin and remember that wind sprints say, right? He skate for Holgate like he wants one more. Give me one more give me one more. And he just doesn't give up. That's an awful lot of fun. All right. I'll tell you another guy who's having a fund year this year. And that is Jack Sadik he will be the subject of our golden gopher insider in the second intermission. But we wanted to set that up getting some comments from coach Bob Moscow on on the game. And the and the play that he is seeing out of senior defenseman Jack say, I think he's rounding out play his best hockey right now. He keeps it simple. He tries to do too much sometimes and it tries to stretch it too much trouble. But what he just stays type solid. I mean, he can be a force because he he's physical. He can defend all night long. He's got great lung capacity making play blossom minutes, and he's gotta Steph he can help us offense. And it's just every once in a while the wires just. And that's part of maturity he's still young kid came out of high school that I love his attitude yesterday. He was an absolute Beason.

Now the lefty Smith rank at the Compton family ice arena, golden gophers defeating the Notre Dame fighting Irish five to one open up the weekend series three stars. And the honorable mention goes to the goaltender Matt Robson. Forty two saves ninety eight percent saves percentage. Does that tell you how well in front of him? Yes. I mean, you know, we're we're gone still with this feeling that forty-three shots on goal. Really wasn't the toned the two to one edge in shots by Notre Dame was nowhere close to the tone of this game. So you're gonna have to trust us on that one. But Matt was great and had he not been in. There would have been a lot more hard work. But for third star. I'm gonna go with the guy gets his first collegiate goal picks up to assist has worked been working his tail off all year long. That's Blake McLaughlin, while he is part of a he got a goal and assist as I mentioned. The freshman contributed seven of the eleven scoring points tonight. That's impressive. That's pretty darn good. And and Blake and that line. So he's gonna get a part of a star to just share with his his linemates Sammy Walker and Nathan Burke, Burke, maybe could have gotten a star to just for that setup. What turned out to be the game winning goal which was scored by McLaughlin Solis give him credit for that to both of them credit on that game winning goal three assists for sample random. Nearly doubled. His yearly total he came into the game with four assists now walks out with seven assists tonight. And he was just a great playmaker. Yup. Which quite honestly, we haven't seen a lot of playmaking from Santa from sample. He's been good. He's been skilled. He's been he you know, he's been all over the especially all over the offensive zone tonight. Jeld it came together. His game came together as a member of a line and contributing and that that lasts past officer who set up Walker McLaughlin. That's the way I wrote it down. But I think you've got an McLaughlin. Yeah. But he got the puck up to him. And there were a couple of looks anyway sample rant played a major role in each of the three goals, which he assisted and for him to get free tonight. I mean, that's that's a stunning number. What we've seen him as you described in the offensive zone. Just go all over the place and quite often turn. Things over. But tonight he was making making place and they ended up in the net. And he's got the skill to make place tremendously skilled freshman hockey player. And when he learns that part of his game, we know he can shoot. That's so now you're probably wondering where is he going with the number one star? This is this is not necessarily the numbers. He produced because Tommy Novak was not good on face offs tonight. Norway was anybody for the golden gophers as a matter of fact, but Tommy Novak scores the goal at twelve oh four the first period on a blistering shot from about forty seven or whereas you'd call that he got himself said he got himself open to get that great pass from McManus and laser it in. But that's not the only play Tommy Novak was a leader up and down the ice. It was as great a two game two way game two hundred foot game as I've seen Tommy play. And for that leadership. I think I'm giving. That's why I'm giving him the number one star for Novak's leadership tonight. Well, we heard coach Moscow talk praising Louis of him. Yep. Then that was good heals. "There's no problem a little horsepower can solve northern tool and a quick much. This is the gopher post game show recap of today's games statistics. Walk interviews in highlights. Once again, Wally shaver. And we welcome you back to the captain family ice arena. Golden gophers wrote shot by a two to one margin throughout the game including thirty to seventeen or the last two periods. But in those last two periods AO score the Irish five to one and that's final. And frankly, just throw so many accolades at the gophers for Holwell they played overall tonight. You you just mentioned some pretty stunning numbers Walton, I'm telling a couple of friends by way of text messages during our commercial break here. Believe the score not the shots on goal. Good point. The score tells the story in this one folks not the shots on goal. Minnesota did not play like they were outshot forty three to twenty two. It was at least an even more Minnesota had a ten goal edgy percentage. I mean, it was a it's amazing. They only get twenty two shots on goal. They score five times. They scored four goals in the third period. Okay. One of them was an empty net. That's still three third period goals. How long has coached Moscow been saying I just wish we could get three. Well, they get the three in one period alone. It was shift after shift after shift line after line after line. It was his way from the beginning of the game on and then within each shift was man after man after meant there was just a relentless pursuit of the puck. Of the Notre Dame puck carrier of getting in behind the Notre Dame defense, which I didn't think was humanly possible to do what they did it repeatedly here tonight. And then got absolutely great goaltending. At the other end absolutely unique played well defensively at center ice they played so well defensively. The thing that I like to the first two periods were Minnesota's owed shot twenty six fourteen. We're looking at the shot chart. The gophers had a two to one advantage in grade. Eight shots on goal because it is such a fine job defensively in their own enforcing outside shots perimeter shots. Play Notre Dame atom up on and I got through two periods. A great chances attempts twelve eight and favor of Minnesota. Okay. And most of those twelve again were in behind the defence Kilmore face. Five goals by the golden gophers, including the first of the year for both Tommy Novak and Blake McLaughlin. "A moment's notice. New ideas that Eckrich dot com. Tom. He'd Obama gets his fifteenth career goal is first goal this season to get Minnesota. A one nothing lead and Minnesota will have to defend that lead a man short with a flashing penalty against Blake McLaughlin. Call that fifteen eighteen of the second period. Notre Dame power play at seventeen point eight percent. That's last in the big ten. But they're almost twenty seven percent over the last four games when they've scored goals in three of those four. They work it into the Minnesota zone. Early is. Challe Burke dangerous score back on the. On the right side for Nardello off to the right boards. Now for mom. Kris? Proper on a point blank. Stop thereby Robson. Nice save Novak will slowly skate to center and throw it in the gophers chains or four penalty killers, always helpful. When you're goal is your best penalty killer. Nicole for penalty kill has been very very good. Dumped in by the Irish the Minnesota power penalty kills at eighty four point eight percent that leads the big ten conference in his fifteenth in the nation. Shorthanded Walker across the line. Tied up and he can't. Wraparound attempt just by Walker. Team has Walker and Ramsey. Go off lickin gates come on up front. That's the one thing that the gophers do different under the Moscow where a Frank rolling three or four sets of Ford's out in the penalty kill mode. Graham across rims it in. Sorta back and quickly fire it down the ice. Twenty eight seconds of power play left for the Irish pit ticket for this shorthanded. Notre Dame coming up ice trailing one nothing of the gophers Jenkins reaches a gopher line. But couldn't hang onto a pass. Now, it gets it. Again, this time to shovels it in six seconds left. Nanny a hard rap on around and hope to serve rice flies the puck. I Baka full strike now with mcglaughlin return. Pulsed in ninety four. Along the boards. He's coddling there with Colin Tyson who also Minnesota's junior dates get up to speed across alive. Shots for the nearside shot at wide Lawrence under the corner. All the way back the gopher blue line. Minnesota getting a regular unit there. Here. Come the Irish, Jeff Vonk across the blue line. Woo open on the right wing was slider. But he couldn't quite get there. Novak backup ice has the games. All these a trailer. But it's a little bit out of reach for McManus. Notre Dame by Alex St. through the middle straight up the middle at the Gopal bull on his China's steered wide by Robson. Your bosses into the crease. Now gophers poker off to the porch. Frozen ice check to make sure the stays away. And here's Jack city. Gophers dropped back into the zone almost a little miscue. There. Notre Dame changing on the goal Minnesota and coming out of their own end. Thumped in minute twenty four left in period. One nothing. Gophers. Tommy back's first goal of the season first goal in a year. Play phillips. Dumps it off the Gloucestershire in the rice and. And settled down there by Spencer staff. Center as we go into the final. Implicit cross the line for Morrison dot com on the left corner to gophers air to tie them up. Nice coverage. Doc Ramsey up ice three onto awake across along drop. Pass Ramsey has to chase it to the right corner to the side of the net. Now for Scott reedy, but his pass was broken up by the Irish deep. How good checking now by Ramsey. Trying to get control the pot or that's really skews me. Now, really centering up or goes off of a skate Graham. Good job. I Scott really down here on the four check where he was playing the role of a warrior down there. And still stays after it as it comes off the bye finally on a line change. Fourteen seconds ago. Gopher get one more rush. Here's China cutting. He's four by the d tried to drop back, but Minnesota's defense was changing instead manual, just take it out to center ice up the last few seconds. Will do it for Perry. Number two. Still not a whole lot of stats to report one goal and one penalty in this game. Fortunately, the gophers now the lone goal. This is a fun one to talk about. I there are so many good things going on for the golden gophers right now. Do you remember in our pre game interview with Bob Moscow? He said we've got to play a game. Kind of look like a golden. Gophers are playing a good home game. Yeah. Yeah. We got to throw hammers Adam. And they are they are, you know. I mean to me when you say you wanna play good road game. And that is you play conservative play cautious. You know, the whole team is gonna do some dictating just about all forty minutes here. Now Notre Dame has had a good good stretches. But the majority of the first forty minutes, Minnesota has been dictating tempo and pastes and doggedness. Yeah. Persistence strong on the puck great team support. Great five-man units. Outstanding goaltending. And it's a one nothing game. I mean, you you would have thought I was describing nine nothing blowout. But it's one nothing game. It's a very well played game for the golden gophers. We're in our second intermission. Gophers up one nothing, and we'll be back with the check with Nathan Burke after this from learfield.
