"His conference in scoring. He was Ah Hobie Baker finalist. You mentioned how when Stan would go and see Ian Mitchell and Denver how he was always drawn to Borgstrom because he was just a Unbelievable, productive player. I mean, in fact, he called him one of the That's players he's seen in the collegiate ranks in the last 10 years. Here's bone went on that I mean, I noticed Henrik quite a bit back when we had Ian Mitchell, and the time was Blake Hillman. They were at Denver and Was going to scout those guys frequently back then, and any time you would go watch Denver play those days, Henrik was a dominant college player. Like what? One of the best college players I've seen in the last 10 years. Really high end skill and he did it all in college, and you know, he seemed destined to For greatness in the NHL, and you know it didn't happen right away for him. I think sometimes that That's the case for young players is the There's an adaptation to the NHL. And, um, you had pretty pretty good season in the American League and then last year never really found his way there so I think when you look at his best game, um it's pretty impressive, so he's playing right now in Finland. Stan Bowman said that he talked to York streams agent and they They seem like it's going. It's a fate accompli that he will sign a deal come stateside and play, either you know, hopefully for the Blackhawks next season, if not in Rockford, But look, they've gone this route before Brian, you know they've gone the route of the player who's been drafted or has North American experience. Like a dominant Kuba leak or a Pew suitor. Who then goes back over to Europe in their early twenties, matures a little bit and then comes back to the NHL at age 23 or 24. They've gone down that road that roads look pretty good last couple years, and they're hoping that Henrik follows the same lead. Well and I wonder, and it really has been a formula that maybe doesn't completely while you but it has been productive as you said that. I don't know how excited Hawks fans get over that and again. You know, just over 48 hours away from the trade deadline on Monday afternoon. It doesn't sound like Stan's got a kind of headline grabbing type deal op asleep. You never know. And I just wonder Box fans, you know they go toe Twitter poll. And vote on what this trade deadline means given the current state of affairs of the black box, But, um You know, these are pieces that he's adding, And he's adding size, and he's adding guys who once looked the part, but not necessarily look the part right now. Next year, the trade deadline. Do you actually go out and get a guy who you don't have to project or look back in three years? Four years to find that form you Is actually a top 64 door. Top four demon, Because if you're one player away like I mean, stands shown that in the past and you know He went for it every time 13 14 15 16 all those years he went for it. And so now we're just in a different spot right now. If if if? Ah, year from now they're one player away. From making a legit running a company. They've got cap space. Yeah, I would think they'd go for it. I don't I don't know if the timeline is one year away from all their down to one Key piece? No, I would say it's probably at least a couple of years way and it also was interesting how he, uh, how he's put it together when he was asked about guys like Soderberg. Andy and Mark and he said, Well, there's a scenario where they would remain with us. That told me they're out the door by money and let's quickly Dios one timers here before we have any old check. One time.

"So we just heard from Jeremy Calton and on last night's postgame show we played the. First half of our interview with his success for in Rockford interim head coach Derek king and among the topics. We are a touchdown in the first half of that in your interview. Henry yoki us assignment to the ice hog L Arbor's influence on him. Derek played for L Arbor during his days with the islanders back in the eighties. Nineties also the ice hawks struggled to score as a team this season. Plus, the individual performances of Anthony Lewis and Dylan secure, we pick it up now with his evaluation of some of his other players that Blackhawks fans are familiar with the starting with our Alexander fourteen who had picked up just six points in twenty one games overall this season, including after his demotion about mid December to Rockford that before collecting two goals in last night's win over the Chicago wolves I think the first couple of games, and this is usually how it works. When you call a guys up from the coast to the American League, they'll give you a couple of games. And then they they kind of fall into that. Habits were they you know, they they started taking their better than what they are. I think he started off. Well with us had a couple two or three games. You got a couple of goals, and then this habits disappear. He didn't rely on his habits. So now, I think just recently probably in the last week or two is ice times gotten better because he's working smart. And I think his habits are kinda help him here doing a much better job. And I'm hoping to see him, you know, score a couple of goals here. Start feeling good about himself. And and us down the stretch here. One guy who seems to be training better lately victory cell after a real slow start after not making the hawks out of out of training camp. I know there was also injury issue for a bit. But lately are you starting to see him play the way he needs to play while, you know, continuing to work on the foot speed and the acceleration. Yeah. Yeah. And you said at the foot speed is going to be the key for him. Especially at the next level. You can get away with it here. He's a smart intelligent hockey player. He can shoot a pocket and that can you can survive in the American League at that with that. But up there. You gotta have some foot speed. And then we'll just continue to work on it. But I think he's been working again. Like I said about Louis and Dylan they're wanting to park back and not giving it up so easy. Protecting parks coming out of the corners winning those battles. He's a big body tends to be standing still a little bit too much. And it's a constant reminder for to get those speak going. But I think he's been doing a better job of late. And like I said right after the break we win a couple. I was hoping we could just keep playing, but we'll just have to kind of reboot get everybody back on the same page. And hopefully, he's one of the last gator. I wanna ask ask you about is Blake Hillman. He held his own here with the hawks when they used them the final week or two of last season coming out of college. You know, stay at home type the statistics bear that out. A what is he shown this season to you? Well, again, you know, he's he's a smart hockey player. He's another guy needs to get his feet moving to he plays at one pace you need to have a little urgency in his game a little more than he is. And I think he's made strides with that at the start of come out of camp. And at the start of the year. I think. I think some of these guys don't realize how get this leak is in. There's some real good hockey players. Just don't quite get a chance to make it right away. So you're playing against some really good players. And I think he's finally realised that and along with him and Gilbert's they're both patients picked up a bit. I think they're comfortable now in the league. And they're starting to show the signs of why they got trapped in why they played some games. So looking for him this second half after the all star break to really step his game up, and you know. Certify they're in a little more dominant. A little more comfortable with the play. So Asian good for. So just want to ask you about the guys in net to Anton Forsberg will start with him. How does he handled being back in the AHL where you know, he could conceivably be all season that after getting his first full NHL season under his belt a year ago? Yeah. That's a tough. I try to stay away from the goalies. There little always wonder like how these guys are gonna react when they come down. But Pete Aubrey he's done a great job for us with these guys. And I think they're real relaxed when they're down here, and there's no pressure on them and the big thing with force breakage. He's been a pro-. He's accepted it he knows. He's got a a work continue to work hard work hard on his game to get back to where he possibly belongs. And he's been he's been outstanding for the other guy has to. Yeah. I'll take a quick swing it Kevin lacking. And if you let me I mean, he is a slightly better save percentage than Anton slightly worse goals against average. But what if in your eyes have been the strongest part of his game as long as colonies with the big club. How much of a priority is it's a it's a play him as regularly with Anton here going down the stretch. It's huge. That's what we are where we gotta develop these guys, especially. The goal is you know with lanky. I think the biggest thing I find with Tim is even if there's a bad goal and Forsberg's the same to they didn't get down on themselves, Lincoln and specially sometimes you know, struggled to score goals. So if if there's a soft one that goes in not saying it was his fault. But it's just a fluky thing. We're bounces off a skate or it's a bad bad balance or something he doesn't get rattled by it. He it almost like he picks it up or where he's like. Okay. I got a whole Ford. Now, I can't let any simple or bad break back doubts goals in. He's done a great job with that is not always rewarded for his efforts. Because we just can't score goals at the time. But now, I think with score if you look all sale his starts enforced Burke starts you can see a lot better records from when morpheus. And again, I really appreciate your time here with us, you know, besides Delia and Sikora and fourteen dollars German fours, laying Luke Johnson even Jacob Nielsen for a couple of games. I know that's part of the thing that you have had adjust to as a head coach with all the revolving door moving bodies. But is there a player to that? We haven't discussed who's play has jumped a bit this year and could be in the conversation next time Mark Bernard and STAN Bowman need someone. Why think well Nielsen's one of them that stands out for me, Johnny? You know, what Johnny's gonna bring you here. He's he's eventually going to get a a fulltime job somewhere. Whether it's here or somewhere else. That's I try to remind these guys there's thirty one teams. And now there's gonna probably be a couple more or one more for sure, but Carlson defense, I think he's made huge strides. And he's really surprised me with how good he is. He's a smart hockey player. But then again, there's somebody has to work on his boots should get his work on skating and then. I can't see him not getting an opportunity somewhere. But he's a real talented kid real good solid defensive with some offense aside tool, but he's real solid solid individual. And then Nielsen to Nielsen at the start of the year. He's even though he got called up. He. He's he's been a great two way player for us and pretty solid consistently all year and those are couple couple guys kinda step out. I mean, we know the Marty's Martensson, Johnny. And these guys like you said secure notes guys will eventually get their shot again. But standouts that are surprising. The Nielsen Carlson so the defenseman Lukas Karlsson and Jacob Nielsen whom walks fans got a brief look at earlier this season saying those Derek thing those are the guys who have really stepped up their game. So far this season would be surprised if Carlson gets a call or Nielsen gets called up again if STAN Bowman should ever have a need. So hope you enjoyed that interview. With Derek king last night carried over into tonight. And in tonight's postgame show, we are at least planning I am all screwed up by this late. I'd start here. But if we have time we able to visit with the Blackhawks vice president of pro scouting Ryan Stewart. Interesting conversation with him kind of laying out the landscape. Of what the Blackhawks are in their pro scouting department. How many people how they work how they operate. And how these next couple of weeks leading up to the trade deadline how much they worked together in tandem, even more. So with general manager STAN Bowman Ed assistant general manager L mcisaac a leading up to the trade deadline. So hopefully, we'll have an opportunity to bring that to you tonight. If not we'll do that on Tuesday nights postgame show from Edmonton. Speaking of Edmonson, they have already been in action today and they lost in Philadelphia their fourth straight defeat five four it came in overtime that after leading three one and forty two the flyers picked up their seventh consecutive win on the strength of four power play goals. And then no one Patrick who missed a wide open net at the end of regulation that would have wanted for the flyers without going over time. He then wins it in the extra session to keep the trends going for both the flyers and the Oilers before returning to face the Blackhawks on Tuesday night or there's have one. More road game at Montreal tomorrow. By the way, the Canadians also with an early game today they lost at home in overtime to the New Jersey. Devils a real quick here. Brennan Pearleen in for Chris Kunitz in the lineup for the Blackhawks Pontus Abrahamic suffered an injury last night. So JT Brown cycles in a four the Minnesota wild over three one losers last night at Dallas, Ben Bishop doing his thing as he did against the hawks opponent last night, the Buffalo Sabres shutting them out along just one against the Minnesota wild last night. We hope you enjoyed the Bob and Chicago Blackhawks pre-game show stick around..

"Career point streaks of ten plus games. Only the third player in hawks history to do that five career point streaks of ten plus games. The others were Denis Savard who at eleven of them and the five tonight tied him with Bobby Hall who had five for his career, Patrick Kane. The number three star the month for January, even though we had better numbers than the number one star of the month. Johnny Gujral of Calgary. The flames were a hot team. A number two star being Robin Lehner the islanders goalie who had a real strong six one and one month for New York. Okay. As we await post game reaction to come in from buffalo. We will get to that in a short amount of time because we will hear from Connor Murphy and Brandon Saad Patrick Kane along with head coach Jeremy Carlton wanna bring you a visit. We had with Derek king who is the head coach of the Rockford ice hogs. Now, the Jeremy was promoted on November six and will preface this by saying we're taking a look at the Blackhawks dot minor league team with the Rockford files. Sponsored by Finnity xfinity delivers the fastest. Internet with the best in home wifi experience. Call click or visit and extremely store today. Got him on the phone yesterday as the ice odds also returned from the AHL all-star break and conducted a practice over the beam. Oh, Harris Bank center, we touched on a number of topics in a number of individuals who have been up who have remained down in this Blackhawks system. So we're probably only bring about half of this interview here tonight, and we have a long pre-game show tomorrow. So we're going to split it up and bring the other half to you. And I'll tell you what we're gonna talk about. Then after we hear from this. And I started out our conversation with Derrick by asking him about approaching the three month Mark on the job. How he compare what he expected heading into what the experiences has turned out to be. And I have there been any unexpected challenges that he's faced. Like have been around long enough to watch other head coach run team. So watching Jeremy to come to know what was expected to like what's going to happen. But you'd never prepared for it. It's a bit of a grind just kind of authority guy or just trying to what players in and out of the lineup. And what have you done? It's it's not easy as an assistant. It's it's it's okay. Because guy sits over in talk to him after and Pat him on the back, Tom keep shut up a work with some guy. You're the guy ship or you're you're the guy not giving the guy at the ice Tyler taking them off the power player, and what have you? So sometimes they give you a little different look than they would an assistant. Well, you mentioned being around coaching coming up in the islanders system and joining them shortly after that four year Stanley Cup winning run what if any influence from Albert you carry with you today. Oh, I think a lot. I was fortunate enough. Not that guys are coming up nowadays. And having bad coaches fortunate enough to have so it's really well respected. Great coaches. Now Arbor as much as he drove me nuts. I I figured it out after I was retired. Why he was like that with me and with certain certain players entreated them a little different was he was a good communicator. He knew how to push buttons. We to get push my buttons. That's for sure. But you got the best outta me. And. Never really had a chance to thank for it. But I think he knew he wasn't like that. He didn't eat that. Thanks. But I think I look back and just that kind of way he communicated with this players. She was black and white. He was fair you told them how was told them what what they're doing wrong. And he did you know, he he he was definitely like that with me. But he also patted me on the back when I did good. So I kind of take that into my coaching. Jeremy got barely a year under his belt coaching here in North America. Before his promotion as someone eighteen years old. They're coaching with him last season. How ready do you feel? He was for his new job. Well, you know, what I don't think you're ever ready. I mean, if you asked cue that when he first started coaching or even Al Arbour when he first started coaching was probably never ready, but you learn you learn quick and you get comfortable quick. I was could he use another two three years in the minor? Sure anybody could. To hold it. But he was definitely going to be in any coach whether it was after year or after a couple of years. So like like, I said, you're never you think you prepare. But you're never really prepared until you get behind that bench and you start working and some guys that just quicker than others. But Jeremy, just smart hockey guys are smart guy. And I think he's done a great job. And he's he's pretty quick at adjusting. As we visit here of full disclosure to the listeners following your Thursday practice after the H L break Henry. Okay. How're you checked in after being assigned by the hawks earlier in the morning. I know for league rules. He wasn't allowed to practice get on the ice in this. But what was your initial impression on how he handled the hawks decision. I know Jeremy just got done speaking in buffalo, and he says he just want to put him in his many situations as possible because he's still valuable pieces. He was when they drafted him a couple of years ago. Oh, yeah. I just talked to him. And he was. Oh, no. Always counting with a wooden ball or whatever they do. And he's he's a pro. He's got a good head on his shoulders. Hey, nobody's happy about it. I've gone through it. That's what I told. My message to him that I've been through this where you get sent down, and you're you're bummed out. But you realize when you get down here. There's no time to sulk or no time to potable you're gonna play a lot of minutes. He's gonna play in key situations. He's going to be a big part of this team. It's a chance for him to just play a lot of hockey, relax. Not as much pressure and just go play and holding his game. And then eventually be back Danny child because he's definitely talent. From a distance scoring. His has been the biggest problem for the ice hogs this season. How much of that is the type of talent that's on the roster and how much of it has been either your underperforming are under executing to this point. Well, I think. You know, I don't think we have a bunch of snipers on our team. I think we have a lot a lot of guys with some talent. But a lot of guys that have to Greece oke goals and grind some growing internet. I think there's a couple of guys here that probably feel they've underachieved so far, but those guys right now, and I don't like to say names. But they know who they are they're they're starting to wake up and now they're starting to feel good about their game. And they're getting confidence back. It's funny. When you're when you supposed to score goals or your appoint guy and things are not going, right? You you tend to start squeezing that stick a little bit. And then you start over think plays or over thinks shooting the pocket instead of going the other way, and that's something I've learned over my career, and I just kinda relay that to them now. And then I think they're doing a lot better job. So I'm hoping to see three plus four goals every game which would be nice, and we'll see what we can do what ask you about a few individuals here. Anthony lewis. Lead Rockford in scoring last season. He's doing the same. So far this season though. I know I know Dylan secure is right there behind him with fewer games played as the game has trended smaller. What what's left for Anthony at a guy at five with seven to show that might get him promoted? Well, I think the biggest thing with him is consistency. Even though he's leading the team. I think at times, and I've talked to him about it. He knows him. He understands that. It's not three or four good games. And then couples bad games. He's gotta be real consistent where you might not be always great games. But he's having a lot of good games and steady. And in producing that way. I think the big thing for him. Now is just the skills their talents there. He's got a vision. It's sport just strength. And he's a small kid when he knows that. But he's actually got a little nastiness when he gets a little ticked off. So the big thing for him and even like the secures and these guys like that it's just a little stronger, a little struggle with your lakes and. Being able to grind for win battles like that. And if he can do that and be more consistent. I I don't see why he can't have a shop. Maybe at least a call up. Speaking of Dylan. Yeah, he's another guy whose whose body has to fill out or needs to have some feeling. I I know one thing the hawks wanted to see more of was a willingness to get to the middle of the ice play a two hundred foot game as he works on filling out that body which certainly helps in those situation. What has at least the willingness have you seen an improved willingness as the season has gone on for him to do that. Yeah. I think so definitely from the start of the year and just before like I had several meetings with video where you see him fighting through parks and winning them. And then times when you maybe could have had that loose puck, and he didn't wanna go into that gray area. And then finally Drake before he was called up. He was really. Puck since fighting to get pucks back, and he was he was doing all those little things. So I think that was great. And then when he came back down he he got great off to where he left us. And he's been doing a great job because I think he's made big strides with that talks when impact battles and getting into the middle of the ice and score a couple of goals there already. So it's good to see him that's Rockford ice hawks. Head coach Derek king. Former forty goal score in this league for the islanders. I think he had three other thirty goal seasons. And yeah, his first job as a head coach is an interim head coach right now. But here you have heard some of the thoughts on a few of the ice. Hogs players will continue that conversation in our game show tomorrow the puck drop tomorrow night in in Minnesota isn't until seven twenty we're on the air at six thirty. So we'll belong pre-game show. We'll bring you the rest of that conversation in which I asked him about Alexander fourteen and Victor eight cell. Blake Hillman the to go is Anton Forsberg and Kevin lacking. And also, whether some guys have really taken a step up, some some names that we may not be as familiar with who have gotten themselves into the call of conversation. If STAN Bowman should happen to need a body. That's a little less familiar to Blackhawks fans, then than we know right now. So we'll bring you the rest of that in our pre game show tomorrow. We'll tell you the ice hogs are in action right now against the Chicago wolves and they are leading four two late net game and Henry yoki. Are you has scored a goal in that context will bring you the final score and more details later on in our post game show for the here. And now time for a timeout after a Blackhawks seven three victory over buffalo post game reaction coming your way, next from.
