That was one of the guys in the Mueller investigation and then Hunter Duncan Hunter also Well. The big news this hour out of Washington is something that we knew was coming. The president has vetoed the annual defense policy bill. He had threatened to veto this measure, which did have broad bipartisan support in both houses of Congress and potentially is setting up the first override vote of his presidency. The bill affirms 3% pay raises for the troops. Authorizes more than 740 billion in military programs in construction. The president has a number of reasons why he has vetoed this. One of them is that this bill did not include a provision to repeal section 2 30, the Communications Decency Act. I never understood the logic that he was using to connect it to a defense spending bill. But he wants the section 2 30 done. This is the section of the communications decency law that provides a shield to tech companies like Twitter and Facebook. Basically, they are not responsible for what's published on their platforms. The other thing is that this legislation includes a provision that requires Confederate military bases renamed within three years and has recently complained that the he views the bill as weak on China. Also now this is an interesting thing. We talked earlier about the pocket veto. He's got 10 days out, not counting Sundays to veto something or not veto. He vetoed this on the last possible day he could do so. This goes back to Congress. They're coming back to work on Monday to go over this. They knew this was gonna happen. They had already scheduled a plan to come back after Christmas. They do have enough votes. It appears to override this veto and as long as they do it before the new Congress is sworn in the week after that. Then this thing will stand if they don't the 117th. Congress comes in January, 3rd. They've got to start all over. So this would be the first time in 60 years. I think that it's not voted on right away. Well, Donald Trump and his administration will lose access to Twitter's official White House accounts, including at POTUS, and at White House when Joe Biden is sworn in on the 20th. This is an interesting version of America 2020 like what goes into social media accounts, especially for government. Government figures and government offices because the president the at POTUS, Twitter handle is obviously The office of the president, whereas at real Donald Trump is that guy, and he will retain that. Regardless of what happens on January, 20th. The interesting thing about it. The reason I say it's interesting is because four years ago when Donald Trump took over the White House Obama. Urged Twitter to allow all of the POTUS followers and White House followers at POTUS at White House to stay on. This time. What they're doing is they're dumping everyone that follows the office, The POTUS the White House accounts and making them start over. You think Obama rethinks that decision to urge Twitter toe? Let Trump have always followers? No, I don't think that's a problem. I I do think that They have to. And my understanding is that they will Twitter has to make sure that if you are following at POTUS right now, you're one of the don't know 65 million or whatever it is that follow POTUS. That you are informed by the way you're being dumped from following this account. If you want to follow the new administration at the same account you can. There's no restriction. You just have to hit the follow button one more time. The president also will lose the special exemption that Twitter a lot applies to political leaders. When it comes to social network flags. Obviously they flag the posts that he's been putting up about election security and whether the election was fraudulent. Whether there was a fraud whether was stolen, who was officially elected president. They would also potentially Remove some of those posts. And could remove posts that would otherwise be considered policy violations for anybody else, because, after January 20th he simply becomes Citizen Donald Trump, former president, but back to citizen Donald Trump. So back to normal Twitter user just like you and May We wanted to spend some time today doing some things that are nice because we haven't had a lot of nice in 2020, right. Well, we're going to take a whole hour of nice. We have cookies coming in..

"Charter school funding. That's right. She is proposing a sixty million dollar addition to charter school funding, she wants to create a tax credit for individuals and companies that donate to scholarships for private schools. I'll be I'm I'm thinking, this is the secretary of education of the United States of America. It is it is almost incomprehensible. And so I want your reaction. I wanna know what you think. Oh, I can make a case against Betsy DeVos forever. But I want you to know that that is not what I really wanna do tonight. I want to address Justice issue and by the way. She is very active in the conservative movement. As you may know, she is married to one of the leading conservative advocates in this country. She is one of the wealthiest women to ever sit in the cabinet addictive loss. Or husband is the former CEO of the multilevel marketing company Amway, and is the daughter in law of amways billionaire co founder, Richard DeVos. A by the way, her brother. Eric prince, a former US navy seal officer is the founder of are you ready for this blackwater USA? Their father is Edgar prints founder of the prince corporation in two thousand sixteen the family was listed by Forbes as the eighth richest family in America with an estimated net worth of five point four billion dollars. How do you think she became secretary of education? And by the way, she has no real interest in public schools. My wife, and I had quite a. Russian when we were deciding where our kids would go to school at I I am a product of public schools in San Francisco. I went to Madison elementary school Roosevelt junior high school at Washington high school. I'm a great advocate for public education. I believe the public education is the backbone of American democracy. And our kids went to public school. And, you know, something I'm so glad so glad that we did that. But I want your reaction here is a person who is the secretary of education of the United States of America who is suggesting eighteen million dollars in cuts for special education while at the same time proposing sixty million dollars a year more to charter school funding and to create a tax credit for individuals and companies that donate to scholarships not for public schools. For private schools. Four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten let's get right to your calls. Jay calling from Lodi J lead us off. Thanks very much for your call. Yes. I'm just calling the next teacher of a charter school. I taught part time in Stockton. And I saw the benefits to the charter school. Probably about ten percent white the the rest well niche, but I'd say eighty percent of the students went on to college. Charter school to the public schools in Stockton. Which is one of the worst districts, probably in California. At least you give those the jury of those students a big chance live, no problem with with charter schools. But what do you think when you take away eighteen million dollars from special? Leeann. And put sixty million bucks toward charter schools. But you said the Special Olympics a big chunk of that Special Olympics. Correct. And I currently officiate special Olympic events throughout San Joaquin county. That's great. And I'd say I'd say hundred percent of those involved, especially when the go to public school. So it's just I feel Special Olympics is just an extra above. Education process. Don't you feel? I mean, I say this very respectfully don't you feel that having an activity where all the kids have special needs, and they work together. Help them our society. Well, we're trying to pull away from Special Olympics because of the the corruption from above a lot of the money was being diverted. So actually in San Joaquin county. We're going to another group pulling away from special done a lot of work with Special Olympics. And I wanna tell you bluntly, I don't know about any corruption. But I'll tell you what I do know the kids who go are blessed to have the opportunity to pull federal funds from the Special Olympics is to me nothing less than an obscenity. I appreciate your call four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten what say you. Let's go to Lisa calling from Pleasanton. Lisa welcome. We've met before you spoke at our synagogue. Once in Pleasanton, there's a a program at our synagogue, which is run by first of all the Senator said there was also cuts to Gallia dead university. Yes. And there's a young woman at our synagogue Huish. And has to death. Remind everybody that school which is located in Maryland is one of the finest schools for the deaf in the country. Right. And she's a graduate. Young woman is a graduate of this university. And she's teaches a special needs death program preschool for children in our area. And so Betsy DeVos say that, you know, like two toss these children on the side that they're, you know, don't matter at all. It's just it's despicable, and I told you sweeter. I think they should take our pleasure. Head down the toilet. I'm always, very polite. But I will tell you one thing she has no business being secretary of education. She opposes public education. She's making cuts that are absolutely horrific. And she's hurting people and believe me that is enough reason why she shouldn't be in the position. She's in how ironic or house fascinating that you'd have a president put somebody in charge of education who who opposes for all intents and purposes public education just throw in these people aside because they are. Special needs. It's just despicable. I agree. Lisa. Thank you. For your call. I'm glad we had an opportunity to me four one five eight zero eight zero eight ten we're going to talk in a few minutes about the president's war on the Affordable Care healthcare plan ObamaCare because this is now a signature decision.
