"But my thing in that scene is that she's looking for the other half of the book. Yeah. She's looking at books that are completely different shapes and sizes. Like full books as well. I wonder if this has got the answers. It's like made of like animal skin falling apart on the pages. I love this film. It makes me very happy. Okay. So I'm, I'm, I'm rating it lower than both of you guys. I don't think it's bad. I think it's better than Mary Poppins, but I don't actually like Mary Poppins. Oh, wow. Okay. I'm doing what Jack does about Forrest Gump. I think Mary Poppins is horrendously overrated. I watched it a bit when I was a kid and I was like, yeah, that's all right. Then I watched it about, I haven't watched it with you. Have I, so I watched it before Megan for the first time since I was a kid. And I was like, this film is not actually that good. Mary Poppins actually really mean and insufferable for most of the film is horrendously misogynistic and is controversial. At least half the songs are bad. At least half of them. There's a couple of bangers. Don't get me wrong. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is genuinely a terrible song. What about I love to laugh? Ha ha ha ha. God, Dick Van Dyke is so unbearable. And I do hate to laugh. I was not a fan of Mary Poppins. I am somewhat weepy on that mic. I think the sequences by themselves are quite good. Agreed. Animation wise, phenomenal. Acting wise, bar Dick Van Dyke is actually really good as well. They'll get me wrong. The dancing, everything, but it's just a series of random shit happening. There's no through line. With this, there is a through line. They have to find the spell. They have to do this. I mean, I would say the through line is very flimsy. In this one, I agree they're both very flimsy. I was agreeing Mary Poppins is. I've been like, oh, this has got a through line. No, I don't agree on that point. I think it's a stronger through line than, oh, now the kids are going to behave, I guess, at the end. I mean, this isn't about Mary Poppins. I mean, that's a separate... You need to do a clone of Mary Poppins. They're both very long films unnecessarily. So loads of musical numbers and only about three of the songs are actually good. Both of them. But I will say one song that surprised me that I really, really liked. I wouldn't listen to it because the musical star, I'm not as much of a fan of, but lyrically, the age of 11 and 12 of not believing, that's so clever. And I've not really heard anyone mention that before. And I was thinking about it. I was like, that's when I was that age. That's exactly when I started questioning loads of different things and religion and are aliens real and ghosts and, you know, all these kinds of stuff. And then being really certain on things I knew so little about, like I read three pages in the book and I was like, I know everything about UFOs now, guys. I know if you talk about it, I'll insert myself into the conversation and talk like I know when I don't. And so when I saw the kid doing it in the song, I was like, that's really good, actually. And then the Portobello song went on forever. And every time you think he's going to finish, it was like, he's not going to finish. And then he does it again. And then they had these band of music scenes. As I said, I've already voiced my opinion on those, which I wasn't as much of a fan of. The oldest kid is unbearable and the best part is when he's a rabbit. Bruce Forsyth was great. Love it. The cartoon football was horrendous. You know what I noticed with the cartoon football? You know when it pops and it's under the goal, it blows it through the goal to win. When it's popped, it turns into like an American football. If you go back and have a look, it has that one massive single stitch thing going through. Oh, that's interesting. So I don't know if maybe they were like, because they go, oh, it's soccer. And it's like, I've played soccer. The whole thing. As soon as they went in there, that was the worst bit of the film. I was like, this is weird, but I'm okay with it because I like the animation. I like a lot of these things. Here's the football game. Here's my big thing before Megan says something about it. My big thing, which drove me mad, the whole game of football, very few footsteps, but all the other things have sound effects that didn't match anything that was happening. So it's like a kick. And instead of being like, and you're like, okay. And then the footsteps and people running, and there's just no music or any sound of just people just kind of running. And all you can hear is the ball being kicked and then they would turn and then you could hear the footsteps. And it was, it sounded like the wall and I was like, the game is going on forever and there's no footstep sounds or grass crinkling or anything, but you've got these wizzy sound effects. It sounds like someone's got the files confused. So that was bothering me. I was asleep at that point. Um, Mike, when the, is it a lion or a tiger? It's a lion, a lion. Yeah. When the lion came out, he was like, that's the one from, um, Robin hood. And I was like, no, it fucking isn't because I literally had this whole discussion with Mike when we watched Robin hood and the lion came out. I was like, I'm pretty sure that's the lion from bed knobs and broomsticks. And then I looked it up and it wasn't exactly the same. And then he said the same fucking thing when we watched bed knobs and broomsticks. I was like, we've had this conversation animation wise. It is the same line. I will, I will say, I think Mike is on, on somewhat the right lines. I think they've watched Robin hood the first time. I was like, that looks like the lion from bed knobs and broomsticks. And we looked it up and bed knobs. I think it was, no, I think Robin, I think Robin who was the most criticized one. Cause that stole loads of animation from elsewhere. I think maybe it was either way around then maybe Robin hood stole from this. I'm not sure, but almost like it's only because we watched Robin hood so recently and I'm like, yep. That's the, he does the same hit. He does the same thing. It's the same, the same swagger, the same kind of, you know, obviously the vocal performances are different and some of the designs are different characters. But why does the King talk like a pirate? Is he meant to be a lion? This is the whole thing that annoyed me about the football thing. First of all, calling it soccer. And I was like, I'm a grown woman. I don't know why I'm getting so wound up about this film, this particular scene in this film, but it went on forever. The sound design on the lion was unbelievably shit and echoey and faint and then loud other points. And I don't know who was doing the voice work. I'm sorry. Cause voice work is, it's really difficult and I'm sure you were very good at your job gentlemen, whoever did it, but you were doing a shit job on this one. And I feel like they just chucked you in a studio. And so here's some lines say them like there was nothing in it. There wasn't just like nothing in it. And then it's like they recorded it on a tin can. And somebody had a string and had it at the other end and put it against the microphone, driving nuts. Men, when old fella man, magical man, magician man, forgotten his name because I'm all annoyed. The bookmaker guy. When he's like refereeing, just move out the fucking way, mate. They're too fucking deep. Why are you standing in the same spot? And then they run you over, which felt like happened about 10 fucking times. I was like, Oh my God. And then he's reaching for the little medallion. I was like, Oh my God, just take a step back, mate. They're too deep. Just take a step back. Just all step forward. Just I don't know why this is going on for so long. When the lion kept saying, move it around, move around. I don't know what you mean. Are you talking about the game? Are you trying to get people to move it around? Because your body's all broken, move it around, shake it off. Is that what you're trying to say? I have no idea. So are you saying like man on, man on or any other football films I don't fucking understand. Yeah. It's not for me. I'm not a sports fan. So that sequence wasn't for me either. I do want to clarify this film. I did enjoy it. I thought it was good. I think because we watched the long version, I think the long version hurts it. And I think that the whole football animal scene is that a trophy should be pulled out and then the portobello row should be pulled out. And Megan spotted, no, no, sorry. I said that wrong. The portobello scene should be shortened. I like parts of it. Professor Brown is a character. It's quite funny. I love the scene where she's like saying, Oh yeah, I performed the spells. And he's like, what basically made them up. And she's like, Oh, she does stuff. And he's like, like, that's such a clever plot device, like a fake magician inadvertently making a real witch kind of learn how to use her power. I thought that was so clever, but Megan noticed something Portobello road, the steel pans completely out of tune. Oh my God. That was absolutely horrendous. First of all, they were out of tune. Secondly, they weren't even playing them at the same time. They were just batting, absolutely fucking battering these steel pans. Some of the only instruments that were actually seemingly recorded on the scene. So they were just like, it's like they were trying to like play the guitar pretend, but with a guitar, if it's electric, it doesn't make a sound. Steel pans, if you hit them, they're made out of fucking steel. They're going to make a sound. It was so horrible. It was an absolute cluster fuck for my brain as not only someone who plays musical instruments, but as someone who used to play the fucking steel pans, it was horrendous. There's one way that will calm you down. Brighton. Professor Brown was talking about loads of different places in the UK at one point. Blackpool, he mentioned Blackpool. He mentioned Blackpool and in that sequence, he bursts out. Brighton. He's like, Blackpool, Bath, Brighton. And it cracked me up so much. I couldn't stop saying it. I was like, Megan, where should we go? Should we go to Brighton? And if you re-watch that scene, he's so calm with everything else. Let's go to Bath. Let's go to Blackpool. Brighton, as he walks down the stairs as well. And he looks surprised as he says it. And it's like, it was great. And it just continues going. And I was like, that alone was amazing. I don't think it was meant to be like that. There's lots of silly moments in this that I thought was so fun in so many ways. Even the Portobello stuff that was random. I was like, I liked the bit where the bookmaker's like, I need that other side of the spell. I need that other part. You've got that, like, I'll be honest. There's some, there's some real holes in this. If you pull up the thread, like how the, how the fuck does the storybook work? How the fuck are they in another world, but they're not in another world with Naboombo. But I love the bit where the bookmaker's like, the bookmaker's like, I'm not going to give you my book. And it's like, not bloody likely. And then the bookmaker just opens up and he gets out the biggest fucking knife. And he's like, he's like, I'm going to stab that kid. I'm just going to stab him. If he doesn't give this children's book, I'm going to fucking stab. And then through sports, I was like, nah, I'd like to use my own, you know? I was just like, I was like, like even the, even the Nazis at the end of the film are not as evil as that guy with the giant knife. I loved it so much. I was like, I did not remember this bit of the film at all. Like, I remember her meeting him and him being a shyster and all of this sort of stuff. And, and then I was like, I saw Brucie hanging around being weird and being like, watches, he wants some watches. And then he pulls her knife and I was like, what's happening? This is the darkest bookmaker. Like I have a lot of faith in people who make books and like, and librarians and bookstore owners and stuff like that. I think they're the best people, right? They want to share books with people. Not this fucking fella. Getting like this dodgy East End guy going around with his knife, going, he wants to have a meeting with you, can I have you? I was like, what am I watching? He's just like, he's going to butcher this entire like found family with this one part of the book. I was like, this is the story I want to see. I want to see this evil bookmaker man. Just being like, go shift some people. It did feel like about five different stories they kind of had together. When I said to Megan, when we first started watching this, because I've seen, I think I saw Bread Knobs and Broodstick, Bread Knobs and Broodstick and the different films. I'll spake off after dark, sorry.

"Uh Got three of those Uh, just just for americans blackpool's pretty legendary. Yeah, it was a holiday seaside resort. Yes I was gonna say isn't it? Maybe okay. Okay. I'm not i'm not greta gurwig I'm, not painting the best but i'm not painting the best picture of blackpool But like it was in he tim burton came and filmed. I think it's miss peregrine's weird kids or whatever it was called. Um Um, it wasn't called that but that's what it's about. I mean, it's basically that though, isn't it? Yeah I think they're called peculiar actually Okay Yeah, but I like them. I like them. I like them. They're good in a weird way weird good way Anyway, but yeah, I kind of there was a lot of times where i'd be like, oh i'm from san's like where the fuck's that? Blackpool, it's it's blackpool, you know, it's because just because it's quicker it's easier and it's it's shorter Conversation than trying to explain where the logistics of it is. Um Now there's a there's a trope in this film like a lot of these tropes. Um, I don't really like When it's used it's mostly in kind of rom-coms this particular trope, but I think this film Actually did it In the best possible way with a different kind of love and that's the running through the airport motif at the end I was absolutely Devastated at that moment because it was like, you know, it's not this like oh will they won't they shitty rom-com? It's a genuine Hey, are we not shit on rom-coms? I don't i'm not saying all rom-coms. I like rom-coms rom-coms make me cry I'm, just saying there are some particularly bad rom-coms out there you rear have reviewed a lot of them on the pop gorillas Uh, I know you enjoy the shit ones as well but for me like then a lot of them can fall flat and I think Using that idea But applying it to this again mother-daughter love relationship Was far more powerful than most of the times that trope has ever been used because she misses her Yeah, and that's even more devastating because she she had a chance and she still has her emotional catharsis because he's there the father to hold her but it's like She missed it, which is honestly how those airport scenes should go every single time You miss them. You waited too long. You're an idiot Like don't leave till the last minute, you know, like this should be the life lesson not definitely leave it to the last possible moment and then Like just run after them like no do not do that Say your piece and I was grateful that she didn't catch her because she was a real bitch. Yeah She gave her the silent treatment and I feel like and i'm using that word how I really feel because she she used the silent Treatment against lady bird and I think there's more and more conversations about how the silent treatment is abuse But that was not something that was talked about when I was younger and and I thought That the mom says, you know, well when I was your age She was getting the shit beat out of her. She doesn't use those words, but that's obviously what happened to her So she she feels like she's not doing that And so what she's doing doesn't hurt And I think in this scene we really see it's not only hurting ladybird. It's hurting her yeah, and And I loved that she didn't catch it would have pissed me off if she caught her. Well, that's the hollywood That's the hollywood version of that isn't there but they do. Yes, they do reconcile. They do have the hook and she goes You gotta work harder. Yeah, exactly that You know, like you gotta work harder. You just did some damage. Yes, you loved her, but you also put your Really damaged feelings ahead of hers and you're the grown-up And what what what is this doing to the dad as well? Like I know like what's it doing to him? He's already like he's on antidepressants and other stuff. He's having a hard time dad. Yes. Fuck me. Yeah She does it multiple times throughout the film and that's what I find so interesting when ladybirds talking to her about being ready to have sex And about she's found her dad's medication And the way her mom speaks to her and doesn't Tell her The truth or not all she she's so withholding the way she withhold withholds Information that would make their relationship better that would make ladybird's life better that would make her Understand more things about the world and her parents and relationships Which apparently is what her mom wants her mom talks about how selfish she is how she doesn't think about all of these things But then she doesn't provide her she doesn't provide ladybird the space or the respect To be able to talk about these things and you know, we see it again with the way She talks to someone she's trying on The dress and all of those sort of things That I love that they don't resolve it because it's true to the character Yeah, and it hurts it really hurts and ladybird's doing the thing where she's like i'm sorry i'm so selfish I mean that was I cried there like i'm so selfish Talk to me I anything and you can just see her just like Dissolving before you're like begging for her mom and her mom just won't give her an inch And and she does that twice in the film and both times but that last one.

"Paper story or not, like, you're just like, okay, yeah, these guys are gonna beat the shit out of each other and go at it. They were here in LA. They had their second match. It was awesome. It was great in ring. So there's no question that. Once the bell rings for these two, people are gonna be really hyped for this match. It does feel like a glorified number one contenders match. In which I wouldn't have said that, if Eddie Kingston didn't in story quit AEW because feel like a great foil to MJF, what a bit Eddie Kingston really feel like there is a, there's a lot of story that you could have that you could have chewed into there and just let Eddie Kingston get on a mic and just fucking go. And we should be talking about double or nothing Eddie Kingston versus MJF. It's what we should be talking about in a few months. We won't be. Which is unfortunate. But if that's the case that this becomes the number one contenders match it makes sense for me that hangman wins spoiling a little bit of who I think is going to win the next matchup, but goes on to a feud with MJF and John and like you guys were kind of touching on before Blackpool combat club seems to be going heal. John and crew maybe turn their attention back towards Danielson with the whole regal situation. So that's where I see this going. Main event. Last but not least, I teed it up for any MJF Brian Danish in 60 minutes. I got a lot. I don't want to spend a lot of time on this. This is weird because usually I would, but I feel like there's MJF is going to win, right? All I need is for Brian Daniels is going to come out to final countdown. Miss ring of Ring of Honor days and kick his fucking head in. And that's all I need. But MJF has to win this match. Danielson doesn't want to win this match. Even if Tony told Danielson to win this match, then this will probably put MJF on top of him because he doesn't want to be champion. He wants to put other people over. This will be the mass that puts MJF over. Dance was going to give it his all. The only question that I have is going to win. Or does he just beat him? Oh, he's going to cheat. He's going to be some brass nugs. There's going to be he should, right? But I think if he were able to beat Danielson in a wrestling match, he would be insufferable on television. He got to cheat one of the false. You would think so. Just putting it out, grabbing the tights, maybe not the last one. Maybe the last one, maybe they're tied one one or two two, and it comes down to the last one, and he just guts it out. But one of those other ones. He feels that way. He's grabbing some tights. I'm just saying, you have to make MJF. And right now, there's nothing wrong with this. Feels like when edgy Christian with tag champions, they never won clean. Yeah. They're tag teams for so long. They were really entertaining. They can go that route. But I would wonder if there's a part of Danielson that has went to Tony was like, I'm just beat me. 'cause it makes him a better wrestler. And he will be insufferable. But we all know who's gonna win. MJF. Cole? Yeah, I think the way I see it playing out is I not only think MJF wins. But I think he's going to be trailing the majority of the match. I see, I feel like I see a scenario where Danielson comes out. They both come out and Danielson just jumps him right at the bell and gets like an early one nothing lead like two minutes in. Crowd starts going absolutely nuts because obviously the crowd's going to be super behind Danielson. And by the way, what shouldn't be lost in any of us talking about the booking in AW, the situation surrounding the roster, what's going on here, what's going on there? What are the politics going on? These two have built this fucking match like crazy. They both been awesome. It's always great. Yeah. Awesome. Awesome, awesome. Mike, they sold a pay per view ticket. They have sold pay per view tickets as the main event. These guys have done the job as the top of the card. So I think they deserve their flowers on that end. This is going to be a contender at the end of the year for match of the year. I know we're all very partial that omega Osprey is going to take the cake because that's going to be hard to top that one, but this one's going to be really good. I am not sure on I feel like MJF's got a resort to shenanigans because I feel like he is the spiritual successor of regal. So, you know, at least that's kind of how they've built him in AW. So he's got to come up with the diamond ring or the brass knuckle somewhere, but I think he, he's trailing most of the match and he comes back to win it in the last few minutes. I'm going to say he wins. I think he wins clean ish towards the end. I like Cole's idea for him trailing, having two finishes like two pins right at the very end. They love taking stuff right down to the final time limit. Yeah. And AEW is like that new Japan style booking where you go to the last second possible. So maybe he gets to that like the last second. He pinned him at four, one, two, three, and right when the buzzer is going off. MJF wins it. He laughs at everyone. The music hits,

"Center in vallon carrigan. Eighteen fifty seven one five nine nine six talk nearly around this morning wipes in the drains and the problems that they can cause underground overground deliveries all too visible way on. You're heading in towards the shop where you're this morning volunteer yet morning. Pj yeah. I was just walking along the side of the river. And i mean there used to be a ten to nine points where i took the picture but i mean now. It's just a high fence on. It is packed with later now. I'm just declare this. I've not maybe city council for this. They can take the blame for not cheating. But you know they're not the ones going around everywhere is the key where they used to be as after the first break. Just after the. Brian did they used to be a for one. Better term attended village on there a year or two ago and that was being. Yeah basically defense off and people just shove their through it i mean. There's there's a pie. I mean it's you know and and you know that that's that's one of the routes that people walk down the side of the river coming from the train station tour walk and that way you know that's not a locally walk necessary that's dozens of buses day come in dozens of buses a day. Come down that route. And that's their view. They sort of come in towards the city centers just the height of litter entering the city. Centres is a constant. You know people behind our flower boxes. They throw it. The i know kyo they. You know there's been within ten fifty meters of seem to make any great difference than anyone we got more bins put in during the summer. Because so many people are gathering in the open air we got the bins loads of them and in fairness. And i say this time and time again. We have a great crew. The go-round every morning early. Oh pace generally spotless. Yeah you know. First thing i'm morning it's spotlessly clean so you know. It isn't city council of her litter around you know it's her proud citizens crushing the place. I you know. I don't know liver is one of my favorite would agree with you. Well yeah you know. And i i just i just don't get it. I don't get how you can be proud of your city and just talked to her on the ground. I just don't get. I don't it doesn't make any sense long-running saga on the program where i'm always saying to people. Just bring yourself home. It's not difficult if the painful and you can't put into been put it in your pocket for mish you know there'd be another been in you know a few walking paces from where you are. It's not difficult you can hold onto. My father would have killed us off putting anything anywhere of been our pockets. you know. In those days there wasn't very many bins around. I mean it wasn't you know. Nowadays in truth there is quite few bins. And yeah you can say. Sometimes they're not emptied quick enough. But i mean you know sony so quick that can be emptied and again walk for a few paces. Keep it in your hand. It's just laziness us. I mean it's you know putting it putting it behind our flower box. I mean you can go to the trouble of walking over to the flower box and shoving it in behind us or through. somebody's grill. I mean i noticed on the stairs. Next to chris bikes. It's mornings took into their like. It'll hurt like little curve of mental. Like at rhodes tube and they've stuck get into them rather than walk to event and you're it's a snowball. They put stuffing behind that frequently into it. Sometimes cigarette smokers i know. Smokers don't seem to think that they're producing talk and it into into the which i just. I've yeah it's it's infuriating and you're one come out and cleaness. It's it's a respect for for someone you know. I mean it's probably a of the eating out. It's probably the only slight negative that you do get a bit of blowing around of tissues from various restaurants and fast food joints but to be honest most people clean them up and around us. Most most places are incredibly quick. Eighteen up around the busy around a lot of eateries around there are a lot of jobs are in there and there's a lot of. There's a lot of traffic air at the moment. I mean it's been like that. Easing has been fantastic for our area for you know water in january. It's made it's given it such a nice. You know continental for better discrimination and abused around and boost when it's needed. And i hope i hope people realize that eating out his even in the middle of winter eating out his perfect and they do it in the most northern europe so and i hope it sticks. Okay actually think what have you there. You've talked many times about the the place of being a trainer in the city centre and particularly during lockdown. How hard it was our things coming back on. Oh i think definitely i. I definitely can see that. There's a huge level of support still and you know obviously are online stuff has declined as through. The trump has gone on. But we've also gained because people are coming in now who have bought online and our company to business and i think in general. There's a there's a. There's a good feeling positively around guno from the restaurants from us from the bars. Good good and with one hundred nine days to christmas. You need that positivity indeed that number nine days probably already getting christmas delivery so we got our third president brilliant. All right listen way on. Thanks for being there at the stansfield from the wonderful pinocchio in paul street but he centers pictures any coldest about litter down where they used to have the tent to remember the tents. Eight's a couple years ago now. There was some homeless people living intense. Along the key there on patrick's key and look that came to its natural and as these things do it's fenced off at the moment because a lot of work down in the key and ate his literally a skip people have turned into a skip. They're trying the rubbish into it. And it's it's contemptible the baby wipes from earlier on talking to simon the engineered. The fellow from the corporal wasn't long pointing out her the baby wipes would affect rain drainage here in blackpool the six shores blocked up with dort when it rains the water wizards over them. They were to the council october. Twenty twenty so the rest rain drainage seems to differ lot when it's your problem and there's it's drains or blocked for a year due to their non maintenance. It doesn't matter a bit. A temporary blockage it from baby wipes is the end of the world. That was nothing like a temporary blockage tom. If you look at the photograph of the haystack size wage of baby wipes that they got out of it and that picture is from what they got out before that to bring in the pressurized water. Does anybody know these a question. I've never been asked this before. And you put your head of. Why are there so.

"Comes over right. Clang i'm sweating. I've gotta do this thing. You know chris. Ken is light showing the switch. So the switch. So i'm like put on the spot and then i did it. You know the plane called. Obviously that was well received. And then chris was. Can you do it with the bills. And i was like. Oh yeah probably and so that evening. I got some bills. And then i was doing bill switch so i wasn't actually even then wasn't changing card into hotel. I was just thinking. Oh this could be vital vittles by bill so you know bill in lemon wherever you could you know can i. Can i now do this this right. And then and it was seamless. My god it works exactly the same. And then i was like oh i wonder and then course the first time i did it i just it looks like cgi even myself. Just just filming myself do it. I couldn't believe it. You know it's exactly the same thing. It's not like you have to work extra hard to make. That work is like once you understand. It just works with anything and you can get creative told them restored card the restore it yet. Yeah same stuff you know. There's so much fun to be. Have to be really interesting. What people come up with plans to get their hands on the other thing. You get a package from vanishing inc. Magic dot com is this gimmick. Now i know we can't really talk about the gimmick but can you explain how you came up with the idea. I icon I i needed the gimmick right. So i knew what the gimmick was what it needed me. And so i commissioned a friend of mine to make one like. I couldn't make it myself as i didn't know how to work with this particular material right Without giving too much. Though i commissioned my friend who does it and she made a purchase and it was it was the third version of that that then clicked So i can't remember how the idea came about but it was in that sorts of prototyping phase where i thought oh i can make this way round. Do it will do this. Right i i. It's like i'm thinking about it. The wrong way needs to be the other way. Same thing level rise just like wow if i tell interesting now it works. Yeah yeah does it work. Yeah yeah it does it does. It's interesting about just changing the angle of something. We had tiny chang on the show a couple of months ago with us talking about changing angles from from that to there and suddenly everything changed. You love doing a pass and you start there then. You've got to do that rather than you know what. I mean. exactly what you mean. Just changing changing an angle can can revolutionize everything the actions. We had a few units at blackpool..

"At a couple of different places in miami Down their leadership roles men. I just got tired of seeing no one who looked like me and it was very lonely so i left the floor and i left like the industry and i really started doing community. Work communities entered work focusing on advocacy in creating excess resources for Communities of color really started with the black community and i was very focused on that and then as society grew the knee grew for other people who were also being marginalized Never gonna turn someone away from community so know. The reason why i called hugh is because we're all different colors so that includes all color is i had to. I had to take care of home first. Now we're gonna like branching out into full full range So you talked about your years in miami. What can you dive deeper into. What your experience was that you you said eventually wasn't quite the right fit feet. Is that what pushed you to do. Something like hugh yes. No i think on some level of always been an activist. I've always been an advocate for sure. I'll have a minor in african american studies from penn state. So it's not like it was just like oh you know. Let's let's start promoting this but miami. So miami is like its own planet. I don't know if you've ever been a worked there. But miami's definitely its own planet and that is where i spent the majority of my career as a som- like working as That's where i spent my career. That is where my development happened. And i had. I had incredible experience. It it was alive. People don't start their career as as their first job at such a high level so there was a lot of pressure in the pressure being black and the pressure being woman in this space was intense. But i learned a lot like me in a friend of mine. Julius have this joke. Like you know i used to drink opus one in a truce on tuesdays lights because that was that was my life lake. Mary i was around rich wealthy people who didn't mean anything to and i was serving them. These super high end wines. In i learned so much about like that's where i learned like fine wine like vintages like all of this stuff and i come from. I don't come from money at come from love. That's it that money. So you know i grew up poor so like the contrast which is astounding to me is like watching people. Just spend money on wine like that. And then the other thing was people were not used to seeing a black woman as And so i would get that all the time and we had a lot of europeans who come into the restaurant is workday. I ended my career George and you know. They have been sent away from table. Must be like we don't want you at the table or Do you know about why or you know we want. We want the white guy because might might counterpart was is actually no. He's colombian but he presents as white in they want him and you know. Is this at all kinds of like atrocious baynes. So it was like you're having this experience of your life like you have the job of your life lake. What else how else. Unc your career than than at that level but there was a lot of pressure and it was a lot of racism that i had to do with overt and you know overt like is just a lot of biases a lot of at the time. Like i said people weren't used to not only not seeing a black som- but they weren't used to seeing a black woman like what late today. It's a lot different right like The few of us who were working on the floor at the time like we normalized Having people see that like we had to go through the that grunt work really in order for people to get used to that. So you know the soda. Tom today can you know still experience. Some form of racism. Just not as as much i guess you know in the other thing was. I got tired of the question. Are there so it was kinda. Like the onus was on me like oh since you're a black saw are there black winemakers or no and it would always be kind of like like when i got the question from blackpool sincere. It was like no seriously like black winemakers makers. But when i got it from other people was a passive aggressive lake are any black winemakers like. Tell me. Tell me everything. Did they. cuisine nia tables and stuff know what is what all the shots and you have to pop like look like. Do you want this or not because i know it just got to a point where i and i was never able to be myself so. There was a lot of trauma wrapped in in this thing like dealing with the racism dealing with the idea. I couldn't be myself at all. I wasn't allowed to wear my hair. Certain ways i had to dress a certain way. I wasn't allowed to wear my big airings like my heart was broken. Mostly about airings. I'm kidding but still you know. I i think the Violence i think that code switching and this idea the is violent. It is very violent like you write these things into policy in its very anti-black allowed policies the hr representatives corporations in organizations right into policy or are anti-black. They don't want you to present yourself. They want you to come and be a robot for them. They want your talents skills. They do not want you. And i was just sick of it was done in. I you know i left. The saint regis like my last straw. The saint regis was one of the managers like higher up in hotel calling my braids. Things telling me that. I couldn't come back the work and i- muscles ahead those things in my hair and i was like i'm done with this like i literally can't in luckily one day the owner of microbes genuine which is another like exceptionally his historic restaurant. In miami happens to come in. And he was really impressed with me and so they reached out and i ended up working there in that was pivotal because it was super geeky and so i had got this lake amazing fine dining fine wine experience and now i'm getting like the super geeky. You know down to like soil types in like really digging into producers in like that i had had before like it was cool but the people were interested. This lake insult. I got a really well rounded wine experience in education. And i had a really great career. Not for nothing. I can't say that. I had i had a great career. I was very privileged that privilege. They come with a price does it wasn't like wasn't like most people do not.

What just out of nowhere. He's like a back. Everybody happy now. Judy i've come back. I was out by poets poets. Julia poi- totally implausible. Excuse promise this was definitely employ. Sounds like an episode of blackadder. It's fucking rowena. No he's playing julia and then comes in his health like a promise. It was pirates pirates. But al saw the situation and thought. Hey i have a great idea. I'm going to kidnap my own son and whisk him away to new zealand to start a new life. Perfect solves everything. What yeah. That's not a solution at all. Luckily julia found them at alps. Brother's house in blackpool. Before he could emigrate with john new zealand. Holy shit roque of brilliance. That totally wouldn't have a lasting impression on a five year old boy for the rest of his life out told john he had to choose between his mother and his father. Homa which one did john want to live with for the rest of all of course he initially chose his father the parent. He was missing most of the time horse. But as soon as julia walked out the door in a flood of tears john had second thoughts and chose her mother his mother instead and he wouldn't see his father again for another twenty years. "On KGO, Um Good to have you guys along, But let me go to Ah, Dan in San Jose. Dan. Hi. You're on kgo. That was a great interview. I think he really simplified it. Yeah. Well, here's the thing. It's a lot more complex than that. And it all comes down that packs into these with the heads funds. But here's what I hear is my real question. My real question is access to the markets is he named a couple of companies that made it so you could on Li Cel? You couldn't buy correct. Well, what happened was is Robin Hood stopped the buying of the platforms to get onto the market, right? Exactly. So that was a platform. They wouldn't wouldn't. Apparently, Ah, lot of these wretched people that were just buying it to push the price up to hurt the guys. We're trying to sort of understand that. Okay? I understand that. But So these platforms they're private entities. Is that correct? Well, yeah. I mean, they're not run by the government. Yeah, Okay. Okay, so, But aren't you supposed to be able to have access to the market? I'm looking at restraint of trade? Where's the? Where's the FTC and the sec on this, You know? Well, let me blow your mind even more on that. I mean, there are really the Blackpool's two and that is completely wrong. He had called dark pools and there, but, you know, there's an something I learned from that book. Flash Boys by Michael Lewis is that there are companies that actually locate their businesses. Closer toward the trades are By about a half a mile because the electrons congrats there in a fraction of a second earlier they can actually get there s say. For example, you buy the stock right eye. I can see that You're buying the stock before you get to sail and I could get there quicker than you because I'm closer. I could buy the stock from them, and then I can sell it to you at a higher price. This is a kind of stuff that you know. Most people go. Why? And this is the kind of stuff that just makes me nuts. You know, When I look at this, we'll talk more about this coming up. I also want to talk about Can we expect another? January 6 from these crazy people on the far right because it seems like that's a possibility. But if you're on hold on, why do you want? I love talking about this stuff and I will try to talk. And stay within the parameters of my knowledge, which is not huge. I know. No, I know what not to do. Don't bet money. You can't afford to lose right? That's me, and that's how I like. You know, I'll never be rich in the market. I'll just get another job and make more money. All right. 80 88 10th of phone number will talk to you last come here on some hopeful signs in the Corona virus pandemic..
