"You're just joining us, Charlie Blackmon walked the leadoff. The Second inning for the Rockies and with one out Brendan Rodgers with a two run homer pitch in the dirt, and he held up one ball two strikes the crew chief down a third, mark Wagner said no swing You can play in the outfield. Had been using him at first base here in Seattle. He hits the kangaroo shot to the left side handled by Fuentes. Quick throw to first. And they get powers for the second out for those of you on a kangaroo shot high hopper. Two down here in the Seattle second. This is important for Marquez. You're looking at a team that Is scratching and clawing for any kind of success on the road gets a little run support and Good job to get the first two but wants to keep it going post that zero. "Four million texas texans lose power for days at a time. Not just a few hours. At a time as urquhot warned us would happen. and two hundred texas lose their lives as a result of having no heat in their homes and and for days afterwards no water no drinking water that they could drink Two hundred texans perished As a result of this complete utter clown show that went on in the texas grit for that period of time we freeze ups of a vast portion of our wind power capacity here in the state we had freeze ups of a good portion of our natural gas are jeannie rating capacity and several natural gas pipelines froze up As a result of temperatures that reached into below zero not just below freezing but below zero temperatures here in texas which is very rare thing so the the the fact is that urquhot simply was not prepared. The grid wasn't prepared. Her caught had no real plan in place for reasons. That are mysterious to me that we can talk about why they would have no plan in place for such a weather event since it does take place about once a decade here in texas This kind of weather and As a result people died. It's is people didn't just cold and shivering in their own. People died and that's a a really serious thing so i wrote my first piece about it. on the morning of february fifteenth. Did you use a typewriter. Had no power. Go to my daughter's house because we had no power. My daughter lives close by and they had power. So i had to go over there to write it and I've been writing about it. Ever since i think i've written nine total pieces now. Ford dot com several over shale mag dot com as well. What i find so interesting about that. Because again i always find crisis. Crisis makes things obvious. That didn't make sense and as weird as this is. I think one of the things that's gonna come out of covid for me. That actually is a pretty good idea. Is the dividers between.

"Caught it like you said. I just made a quick sidestep in. He just totally whiffed. And then you know i ended up scoring out when so all four of us who went out the night before ended up making a huge play. That should have helped us win the game based on all the analytics sometimes analytics don't matter but you know it is what it is. You know i had a. I had a kidney. Major in peterson. and i told him i remember at the end of that game and i said hey. Apm coming to you with ball every time. He's like all right. Let's do it and just dropped back to pass dinka down to him. He makes guys miss and then get i. It was just two headed monster over there in the backfield so that was yeah we we. We had a good team. We had a good team. So you you you had this great long career. I know you. I know you gotta go but Tell us a little bit like so. You get to washington and i've read counted the stories on you about. Hey i want to get into this wine thing. I know that charles really helped you understand. That know you know. Because i know you felt like there was no diversity in it and you felt like a probably something that you know. Maybe i shouldn't get into metrology From what. I read charles really helped to that and then made you realize that this is for everyone which it should be right. Yeah so yes so. I never even thought of the diversity part you know i. I thought i thought it in terms of like you. Don't see any after american you know in that profession it was. I just thought it was untouchable. Right having charles being vitner in being in the wine for a long time yet it was pretty cool. But my whole thing was like i enjoy wind Such cool rich history and the way it's educated in tall and talk about you know. Sometimes people talk over your head like this luxurious thing that you can't have and it's a mike it's just. It's just from integrate views. The is you know. But there's really cool history so for me. I immediately wanted to learn more. So before i even thought of a business i went and got my you know. Level to through lovato certification through the wine and spirits trust a level one somali. I just took my low with three. W set exam and i just finished school lesson in state. They have a one long. Yes i've been all the education for. Just just i really want to learn and when even when i lived in washington virginia actually knows. We're washed this. Football team of is a bunch of wineries in virginia. So i used to go to leesburg and hang out. You know at the thing. You're there and work on those. And then i originally wanted to own wine label. It dawned on me. He was like well. I learned that s pretty tough that the end of the day. You have to be able to sell product yet. I have such unique networking connection. That let me just be the middleman you know. I'll just of a wine club in your service in. The wine club is cool. Two bottles i pick from like known wineries education and then. Also i do other. Countries stuff like Josh josh allen. Go to pass a robust so i helped him go there. Matt ryan has a wine cellar. And i helped matt ryan his wine cellar in Reggie bush justin talks. I do much of wine. cellars too. So it's kind of a full service. Conscientious i never have wine long enough to have hopeful seller so it goes pretty fast on our house but yeah i a try..

"That was the motivation for the first one was. It has nothing to do with the tibor. Try to win the game. It was like let me show my wife that i can play volleyball. That's awesome. that's that's what we do. You know you're playing for somebody something and and you know that that's just. I love that story because she probably was like at that point. Okay i sold this one pretty good. Yeah yeah i guess. She didn't she didn't care about it but she was excited for me. I'd yeah but if you're sitting in the stands in green bay in you run a touchdown back and you jump in the stands and the place is going crazy. That does not because my family. When i've there it's an amazing place at so much fun to either. No doubt all right. So tell me about when you come to to minnesota and you run back and we wanna game like i said but we we definitely despite your three pigs with us fine just give it to ap everytime that's what eight you know. I know he went off that game. But so the night before charles woodson. He took the defensive backs. Two two seven right downtown restaurant Great restaurant by the way in just you know we. It was a short flight from green bay. So we landed early in mccarthy gave us plenty of time to hang out so i ended up going to seven. We had a bunch of wine. It was too early but we kept having one then. We heard music in the lady's like yeah this kind of somewhat of a lounge upstairs so we went upstairs to the lounge than charles orders. More wine for us in the you know we get like couple of kilos coming by remembered. Troy aikman a joe buck. They will call a game. They stopped by. Stay up to us. We were there for a long time. I remember getting back to the hotel for meetings. And i'm like you know i did. One of those young moves like you get. You can't keep hanging with older newsmax eric. Their experience their experienced. May i remember just laying in bed. Like all man like i take tylenol. Hopefully tomorrow and goods. I give the next morning and i feel like absolute crap. I'm like all man like. Why did i do that. You know in this report games in minnesota at the metrodome in remember. All of us weren't feeling that well and we get to the game. You know i do the iv. I do epeli all those things to get myself ready to go out the gate. Boom like charles gets a pick. And i'm like okay this charles. You know. that's that's what he was doing anyway. Charles was yeah. And then then tamang gets gets into deception tomorrow williams and unlike ramaz up and coming you know. He's he's already playing. Well sorry to recap what your picks and then it wasn't the first of all the lasso. And then nick collins gets a pick six. I'm like okay. Nick is rising superstar. Like he's he's probably the best safety i play with. Gosh everybody we went out with is making plays you know. I'm mike will. Certainly my time has to be coming soon. And then sure enough i get a kick and it was actually six bucks and i think i think it was eric frampton who ran down the field scott free and he was good as up rape before..

"I'm pretty sure it means that mentality. Like i always like me in these dudes like i remember guys sniffen like smelling salts getting ready to run down to make the tackle like these are just straight shots. Come at you. They're they're they're trying to give me that mentality of that like aspect of it. I mean you gotta kinda be fearless. You do because like you said. It's not just smell us all but they're guys who will get a million dollars just to run on the field and take your head off the like they're you know they're a specialist for that. I was always afraid of returning punts. I was big on returning kicks. Obviously because i had a lot more space rise. Like gosh back you know. I remember just watching the video of troy. Paula model in college lanes out the freemen of the human missile yet. I'm like oh my goodness but it's it's kinda like when i got to the nfl like okay. Well you're behind charles woodson. You're behind al harris in. You know this is kind of your fast-tracked getting some playing time And i just. I was like let me. Just go ahead and just just go through. Just just go for it you know and yet you have. You have to be super crazy. But the same time i understood i understood like protections i understood you know who was the most dangerous person like i understood all those things on a team so you know we had six bucks that means. We have six guys in the box. We had doubles on the outside. In if i had doubles on the outside Pretty much knew. The only person i worry about is the personal protector. Because he's not a candidate for you know and so i really don't understand why they don't double the outside guys more often like i because because you have a free you have. Usually you have a free runner in the middle. Yeah yes what happens if you double the outside is than the personal protector. No one's blocking him so he has a straight shot down the field. And that's why you feel you. Could you kim way better than you could. Juke one of those outside guys though like they're you know what i mean. I when i coached in high school. That was my thing. I'm like we're going to block up the three fastest in while i had ezekiel elliott returning punts and kicks do so that helped but yeah that's crazy to me and and so did you ever say that. Hey coach we gotta block this this week. Like when you're watching film. Yeah i mean not. I mean not really like we kind of had to understanding this kind of like the guys knew. I was good at returning so they already went above and beyond. That's happening chicago at hesters. Like they knew they had a guy so they go a bumpy odd. When you have you know. I'm sure the linemen receivers new like okay when ap gets the ball like block for this. Do we know so. That's kind of how it was me and You know and right and again knowing where you're on the field. no one. Is it a right footed kicker or left with a kicker because they both the both the ball spins into each arm differently you know. Noah noah distance. You know i remember..

"Hey everyone welcome back. We're talking with will. Blackmon will played in the nfl. The you play for the Cfl for a year you know. I spent a week in You're there it was too cold. The weather that was cold. Yeah well You know You know wills played a long time and he. He's he's continued his career. And i love how what he is doing now because i think it's just amazing but you know you're boston college. You're getting ready to go on to the draft. We were talking about You know these aspirations going to play in the nfl. So tell me about that whole process for them. Boston college and make an elite to the nfl. My process was probably one of the most unique simply. Because i two years i played corner right in the in college and then i remember my and i also returns. I returned kicks in going into my senior year. We graduated maybe like four of our senior receivers right and we. We had like some unproven guys who were going to step in and pretty much. I think they felt like the only skilled guy who they knew for sure can do something with the football was me. I got into the office and they say hey man. Would you be interested in swim receiver and after seeing that that a front page about me like get drafted at cornell was like hell no like there's no way switching to receiver and then. We kept me and coach brian. Kim having meetings. And i kept saying no no no and then he just told me think about it and i was like you know what i'm going to get drafted like already had that my mind. I'm going to get drafted and mike. This might be the last go around for some of our seniors. You know like they're gonna. They're not gonna get drafted. They're gonna go get jobs. Have you go out on top with a with a whirlwind. Yeah with a winning record and a bowen. We went three straight bowl games. And i was like i said i'll try it out in spring ball. I'll try it on spring ball and then going try to out in spring football in august. I wanted to. I wanted to play slot. I ended up winning the x. Job in the x. Job is the dude. You're you're on the line. You're not motioning. Nothing you are the guy and i said well can. I still play defensive. Like yeah we'll put you like situations. Maybe two minute maybe third down you come in shadow the number one receiver. What have you so that was my senior. I played like ninety ninety. Eight percent Hundred percent receive a never came off. The field of defence is still returned kicks and punts and so you know i'm getting evaluated for every position on the field so going into a went to the senior bowl as a corner or went to the nfl combine as a receiver. And so i'm getting interviews left and right for different positions corner record receiving this like all over the place in this. What do you want they. Do you wanna play had to be confusing. Won't you know i was there. Everyone was like what do you wanna play. And i'm like you know pretty much wherever i get drafted the highest. So what happened was actually met with the atlanta falcons. And they said yeah. We re like receiver man..

Kim Eight percent brian atlanta falcons Hundred percent two years two minute ninety ninety mike Blackmon august will three straight bowl games Cfl nfl third Boston college four one boston college

"Late at the local high school field and we had people from all over would come and play on sundays and and we just go out and play and i don't remember like my dad would teach me things but other than that. There is no super organized. Anything for me growing up and The other part was that we didn't have like some guy yelling at us all the time about doing it this way doing it that way you just figured it out on your own and the other great thing was everybody played. We had kids from all different levels and everybody participated in. You just figured it out. You had to figure it out. And that's i. That's where you become the most creative And then right. Yeah when you're playing against all different talent level you know you're gonna go against guys who are way more superior who old i was always the youngest. I had an older brother. And i was always the youngest out there. So for me to find my way was you know i had to keep going. I had to keep fighting until i got to find my way. 'cause i wanted to play you know so i think just naturally playing outside my competitive nature happened word. You know nowadays. Is you know you have trainer for this a train for that. You know i actually right. Now i do. You know mindset training and mental performance. Coaching to help guys with that. Because there's just has to be you know i. I mentioned earlier before the show. Like tally can come from anywhere in in a prime example is so i know i live in a pretty pretty nice affluent neighborhood and i actually helped coach some of these kids but anytime they go play a different team. It's like all those those boys from this neighborhood. You know they have no no dog in right. You hear that no toughness or whatever it is and it's just based on their environment so that we had this one receiver in i was like gosh..

Interview With Glynda Carr, President And CEO Of Higher Heights For America

"Thanks for having me. Last time we talked it was election night but if felt like ten years ago and we didn't have decision of all night now. You have president-elect go by vice president elax uplift. Here's how you feel about that. How do you feel about this historic moments. I mean it's obviously we've been working towards what does twenty twenty look like for blackmon's leadership from the voting booth to elected office in so we found ourselves in you know Excited about a commonly harris presidential run in the democratic primary in south carolina in like our most diverse democratic stage was down to two fits the historic moment right white male older And so we continue to dig in. There was a record number of women running for office in a record number of black woman writing for the particularly for the united house of representative and then the summer counts and joe biden said with allowed work in areas advocacy around the need of seeing diverse ticket that you have multiple black women who are being considered vice president that we were all excited. When vice president biden announced comma harris in. So let me tell you what ends up happening. There's all there's road to twenty twenty. Election day mike road to twenty twenty election result. I'm at the grocery store getting eggs nine. When they announced that they had called the race Call the election in so prideful moment. I mean regardless if you're a woman that supported the biden harris ticket or not women cross country in the globe you know celebrate the fact that we are moving our leadership inch by inch. In matter of fact we we'd like crack crack. Open the possibilities that exist for women's leadership and then you add in comma harris boldly walks within her multiple identities right in multiple cities is a woman of color a daughter of immigrants. You know a black woman who literally when you open up. The book on political leadership is a pipeline ran for local office statewide executive office federal office in his literally stepping in to her next phase into the office as a governing mate or the highest office see also then brings her cultural identities right. Here's a woman who is a member of historically black. Greek letter or station alpha kappa alpha sorority incorporated in attended historically black college Into all those identities. I believe the the enthusiasm that we saw in this general election was that people could see themselves in her right. I am a daughter of jamaican immigrant. So that excites me. I am a proud member of the same sorority. Didn't go to a historically black college but knowing importance of those institutions in then you bring author qualifications as an elected leader that she is literally. Her leadership was built for this moment in. So we celebrate. So what are the things that i wanted to mention this summer rates all over the summer and the spring before he chose in letter rate and those are really time for me because she in her campaign. I really wanted her to to get nations. I was supportive. And i know higher heights endorser early on but you know some of you know being the dallas. You enter pain. But then there's more this period where he hadn't jobs his the and he's inside a woman then there. Is this push to relax the one and you know. I just remember that even when she was during primaries President you know. She had a very short period where she was in criticized right And ask framed by Came out so quickly right. And i remember and wanna bring this comparison for a reason. She was criticized for being Criticized her laugh. but why didn't they in particular that really got. My attention was horrible. The morale her career and her as a prosecutor and that's really important because she was not the only prosecutor on that stage. Unity rate anywhere shar and this isn't a comparison of their relatives. Prosecutors talking about how the media in how constituents in how we as a culture you know have these two separate vetting processes because we lizard is hopping about any close jars time as a prosecutor was. You know once Race so that you know how we prepare about women in leadership roles to deal unequal yet. I mean at the end of the day. Black women have all these institutional barrier barriers man-made obstacles and then you add in unconscious or conscious. I usually put them both in unconscious conscious bias about our leadership that what has been perceived as a strength for a white man or one of our counterparts is actually negative for us from ambition You know at the end of the day as voters we should be questioning our elected leaders lying for our votes on our on our records but there was definitely a very strong framing around her around being a top cop in. What does that mean in. We had to be careful on that right like we. I as i said no problem in conversation about her record write in we can agree or disagree but most people will be. You mean that. She's a top cop. She put people in jail right. People can get past that soundbite They couldn't say well. It was this case. The way this policy that she put into place I would always adding with her early. We wanted to dream. The possibilities in this country was ready for a woman in a black woman. But you know as. I continue to grapple with that. 'cause i don't wanna be like hey nor cartoon territory light. I'm your petty Patty moments she president Is that the world is different than when we were in the democratic primary

Experts: This is THE MOST unequal recession in American history

"Look at the economic collapse resulting from the Corona virus Pandemic shows what has become the most unequal recession in American history Economics reporter had the long takes a closer look for the Washington Post and talked with comas. Bill O'Neill. The recession's typically hits some harder than others. We know that but the difference is in this one are pretty stark. It was God smacking when we ran the numbers. Ah, low wage workers. So we're talking about people earning $13 or last were lost their jobs that eight times the amount of higher wage workers. And here we are. Seven months into this recovery and low wage workers are basically still in a depression like state with huge job losses. Meanwhile, spokes in the top 25% of the income distribution. So a lot of white collar workers they basically fully recovered. Now, why are certain groups recovering more slowly than others here? It's really the nature of the Corona virus, and we can all see it is be drive around our town. This is just so decimated the service sector generally a low pain jobs that Aaron Hotels Hospitality and restaurants, and many of us can name those types of industries. Not to mention a lot of people who are paid in cash, Maybe clean homes or take care of our baby said or nanny. Those types of jobs and those jobs are overwhelmingly held by black women, for instance. Blackmon and people without college degrees. Now the federal government, of course, was quick to step in and help out when the pandemic began lately. Not so much has there been any kind of talk of assistance for these groups in particular. Well, everyone is watching the White House and Congress with bated breath and the latest tweet. The latest information coming out is they still don't have a deal on some sort of further stimulus bill And that worries me a lot in this story. We we did a huge amount of data analysis. To show that this is the most unequal recession in modern history, more so than the great recession we all suffered through, but we also talked to a lot of unemployed workers. And I just think about talking Teo, a single mom that Tasha Smith, who used to work in a casino in Louisiana, that casino Eyes, not just shut down. They've decided they will never reopen. Her job is totally gone, and I asked her. You know what's in your refrigerator, and she opens her refrigerator. And she said, I've got a pack of wings and a pack of size And that's you know, obviously, the impacts of a recession on any particular group can drag the economy down as a whole. Even if your group has recovered. How much of this? Does this impact our overall recovery? When we look at it that way? Obviously we're a consumer driven economy, So not only are these people live Being decimated. We have people falling from the middle class into poverty, like Natasha Smith were just speaking about. But this hurts the recovery in the sense and the overall economy because obviously these people do not. Have money to go out and spend. They don't even have enough money to go out and buy food or pay rent. A lot of people we talked to our unemployed are no longer pain ran. Several of them are no longer paying their car payment. One of them was behind on their electric bills. And no wonder those landlords going to do what are those car companies going to do? It starts to impact the whole economic change. That's Heather Long read more online at washingtonpost dot com.

Nasty. Great. Look at some of our great Listen, I really should say some of the highlights for Charlie that Mike Rice brought to you a few minutes ago. And in terms of numbers. It starts to get mind boggling in terms of the the efforts he's had so far how few hitters have done what Charlie has done in these 1st 17 games. I thought here were the best two numbers to talk about. How unbelievable. The year has been in this cove it 1920 20 baseball season. Charlie Blackmon has 34 hits in the 68 at bats, so we know it's 500 on the year. But how about he has as many hits as the ST Louis Cardinals do as a team now granted because of an outbreak with the Cardinals? They've only played five games so far. But think about that. Charlie has as many hits as an entire team and oh, by the way, Charlie has as many games where he is head three or more hits in a game. He's done it six times five times. With three hits. And then another time when he didn't stop three and collected for it says he did in game one of this series. And guess what? Because of their outbreak. The Cardinals have only played five games. So Charlie has Mohr three hit games than the Cardinals team has played games so far, here in 2020. That's pretty amazing. Inside the numbers brought to a spy's Silverleaf mortgage, Colorado's number one reverse mortgage broker. Game three series on the line, the Rockies in the Diamondbacks starting lineups when we come back on the Rockies radio network, here's the latest from KO News Radio with the Pac 12 moving its fall sports to the Spring. University of Colorado Athletic director Rick George was asked how this affects high schools and recruiting student athletes. I think the signing days that we have in the fall will remain intact, the early signing periods and for basketball as well. And will there be some flexibility on the back end? We hope so There seems to be no progress being made on a stimulus package to help the economy. The Treasury secretary wants Democrats to pass the Republican $1 trillion package and then come back for another package later. Democrats say they want to get it all done. Now. The stalemate in Washington is not bothering Wall Street, where the Dow S and P and NASDAQ are all up at least 1% or more. "Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant play game in MJ's last all star game Kobe's first all star game is a nineteen year old the locker room talk was interesting all the background on the agent getting a deal with Nike and the air Jordans the Mars Blackmon Spike Lee commercial that was awesome the whole beginning of be like Mike the Tony crew coach games at the Barcelona Olympics in nineteen ninety two the flash back to Clyde Drexler and the Blazers in the ninety two finals all of that I do you want to talk about at some point because I think there's some really interesting stuff in there also no matter what else errors from this point forward episode five will always be my favorite episode of its documentary and I will explain why it moving forward well what I thought was really poignant about episodes five and six and it really started at the end of episode five but episode six shone a spotlight on the heavy price and the responsibility that come with the type of fame that Michael Jordan had has but really at the height of his basketball career he was as recognizable as any figure on this planet he and the president of the United States and maybe in some cases more recognizable depending upon the age group and yet you can see in nineteen ninety eight through this season that was actually documented with the camera crew the heavy weight of fame the obligations the responsibilities the phrase was be like Mike and yes despite him flashing the pearly whites and the Gatorade commercial and ends the implication that everyone wanted to be like Mike because his life was unlike any other behind closed doors what was he talking about getting away having the followers of his hotel room not having to deal with the obligations of the responsibilities not having to deal with prying eyes and nonstop questions end what else comes with fame edit it doesn't have to be his level of fame it comes with having a public platform anyone and everyone tells you how to live your life I'm not famous not even close but the public figure that I am does yet now Michael Jordan have social media during his time but everyone wanted to tell him how to live his life I experienced that in the beginning when I first started with social media that was the most annoying part everyone giving me advice and telling me what I should do and what I should do when social media is only a snapshot of who I am and most of its because of work people assume they know you because they hear from you or because they see what you put out there on social media but as Michael Jordan said repeatedly over the course of these two episodes on Sunday night nobody knows Michael Jordan you don't spend five minutes with the guy or any guy or gal and know that person you don't know that person because you see him play basketball you don't know that person because you'll spend a few hours with them and what do you say in in in a really I think really powerful moment in which he was tired he was exhausted mentally was worn out physically he said people say they want to be like Mike for a day for a week that's not being like Michael Jordan if you really knew what it was like to be like Michael Jordan you wouldn't want to you wouldn't want this I mean that's coming from the guy who seemingly had it all but yet couldn't get away from the prying eyes and the nonstop questions and everyone weighing in about his life and telling him what to

LA Lakers: Takeaways from the first half of the season

"Win in Denver. A tough place right okay. Heading into the all star break four-game lead. I know it doesn't matter. Homecourt advantage Blah Blah Blah. How come we're not talking about how impressive first half of the season? This is for the Lakers. Everybody's talking about the clippers in the off season during the season because we live in a Wa Lakers are okay. Go ahead the last years of the number one seed. It didn't matter they didn't win a championship. The number two seed one titles is it. All I'm saying is the number one seed especially when we talked about it yesterday with the clippers if the clippers and Lakers they're all playing in the same building and I don't think it's that big advantage to beat a number one. I really don't have when they played the clippers in the playoffs. They have seven home games. Here the Rose Casino Clippers Games. There will be more Lakers fans there. There's no doubt about I think though is because we all know about the playoff. Yes we know Lebron you know. He had this great regular season but about winning the championship for both the clippers and the Lakers. I think that's why we're talking more about this than that. Great Win last night. It was a great win but it was. One of eighty two was impressive. You go to Denver and you beat them in their place. That's news that's really really. What are we gonNA talk as much about a if they lose their next game to a bad team? We're going to talk about the Celtics tonight. Are we gonNA have the same energy tomorrow? Words darn is big and is important as the Lakers in search of Lebron's not even that it's not even that what we've seen with Kawai is even last year. We saw him in and out of the lineup. In and out of the line of all regular season and then what happens in the postseason? He says I'm playing. He obviously has to play and look what the result ended up being. So with the with the clippers you automatically say he'll be sort of blew era. We see the same recipe being built in orchestrated here in La. We'll is okay you you too are starting irk me. With this whole. We saw the result the championship. Okay can we at least talk about this? Is You love to call. The warriors chip fraudulent Kawai. Leonard faced a team that Kevin Durant played twelve minutes in this series. Klay Thompson got her done. At what point are we going to say listen? It was a nice championship. Well done you. Do you mind being down Janas. Yeah they were GONNA smoke. Sorry let me let me say this off. This is the best player on planet Earth. Stuff you argue. He's in his better. This is designed to be. Why did you say Anthony Davis was better and Anthony? Davis legs Kuwabara Lakers to the Lakers. I'm not saying kawais definitely better. Clearly he doesn't control a game initiate an office like Lebron but clearly at this point a better defender at a goal to move Kawais. GotTa go to move where he had to undergo in the mid range. Yes but that's part of the discussion. He when he needs a bucket. He's GonNa get to a few spots in the mirror. Good above sixty five percent of those shots. The Brian has to drive all the way to the hole for it to be like some. You definitely think is going

Nolan Arenado, Colorado Rockies agree to $26 million, 1-year deal

"Nolan Arnaldo and the Rockies have settled on a one year contract as what it is usual. When you go into arbitration. Ken Rosenthal reports are not as one year twenty six million dollar deal with the Rockies is a record for player through the arbitration process. If you remember the Rockies came in at twenty four which would have also been a record one year arbitration deal are not a wanted thirty million dollars. They settle on twenty six as what usually happens. You split. The difference in everyone goes home. That's that's significant and. While it sure doesn't seem like the Rockies have any aces up their sleeve in terms of recruiting Bryce Harper or landing, you know, they're still alive. Dallas kaikal hasn't been signed. Like, it doesn't seem like the Rockies are saving their money to go. After one of these marquee free agents that are still on the market. But I wonder what this means for Nolan are nano he said when he asked for thirty million dollars that it was what all athletes eight is business. It is a business. And you just heard Ryan leaf say the NFL is a business, but at the same time Nolan has no no other organization than the Rockies. You would want him. I think to be a little less cold and calculating, maybe that's too pollyannaish for the rock from the Rockies perspective. But is he going to be that rigid with the Rockies when they tried to negotiate a long-term deal during or after this year, the Rockies can't play around with this? I said this the other day. They can't risk losing Nolan for nothing. And for those who think that this thing's going to drag out till the end of September. No, it's not it has to be settled by July thirty one or they have to have a strong indication one way or another because they gotta get something for them. Or it's going to set this franchise back five years, and I'm not being I I'm not trying to be alarmist. And I don't think I'm being over the top. That's how important Nolan are not always you could talk about Trevor story and Charlie Blackmon those guys come and go they go up and down Nolan is the guy. He's the face of the franchise. He's their best player. He's the most steady and efficient. Hitter that they have. To me. They can't they can't hang onto him hoping that a whole year convinces them. They gotta try to convince them and a half a year or else they're going to be in a really tough spot. Well, and I'd say now that they've taken care of the whole arbitration thing and avoided that started now, right? Are working on a long term deal. Now. And look I would like to Rockies I mentioned this earlier in the show. The Padres are going to meet with Bryce Harper. I would love for Jeff rise to do that. To but to me. Jeff bridage. Should sit down right now. And all he should do. It's figuring out how he can convince Nolan are not to stay. Because that is the top priority and say what you will about when the Rockies traded Larry Walker or Baldo Jimenez, or any of these others. This will be the Troy to Lewinsky, even this will be bigger than any of those and more detrimental to the Rockies. If they don't handle this correctly. So I say all the time you have time to do other things, Jeff. But this has got to be your focus when you wake up in the morning. And when you go to bed at night figuring out. How to convince Nolan are Nado to stay in purple

"All that good stuff that comes with it. What do you mean by making a job out of it? Because he, I mean, it's not like you're going up there without any idea at the plate. I mean your your professional you, you are a pro. What's the difference between being a pro and making a job out of Charlie games grew real hard. You wanna get to split out at some point over the course of season of over the course of a career wings are not going to go, well, how you react to it is is, is. Very important. Just turn your emotion off and just say, whatever. I don't care. I'm just gonna get through the season or whatever. You know, that's when it becomes the job when you when you stop caring, when you stop enjoying the competition when you start thinking negatively because you aren't doing well, you know, it's really hard. I mean, it's hard to go out there and get nominated, you know, seventy percent of the time by professional pitchers and and consider that good, you know. And so most of the time it's more like eighty percent of the time you know saying. So it's just you gotta still enjoy the game, and you gotta be able to find the silver lining in anything on the baseball during our do you have the philosophy of us? You just wanna take it to the postseason you want, you know, because you're, you've got, obviously the cardinals to contend with this well for a while card spot. I mean, what's your philosophy here on on punching a ticket to the postseason Charlie. Yes, I wanna make. I wanna continue to date while I want to win the division. You know, I'm setting the bar super high all, you know, all that stuff is good. But honestly, like as a baseball player, I think it's very important just say, I wanna win tonight. If we win tonight, I'll show up and then I'll try went tomorrow. And I know it sounds super elementary, but I think that's the best way to play this game is they buy day people very short term memory and and then Edina fees. And then you look up kinda see where you're at. I look forward to seeing you plays baseball as long as you won't. Charlie, I really enjoy watching you play was watching it with my kids last night while you were going yard. Just I don't know. You just, I'm sure you've heard this. Kid's just look at you and they just they just root for you right about you like just the, they could just see it through the television set. It's great. Well, that's great. That's all. I'm hope they baseball little bit better. Why do before let you go? Trevor story, how how's he doing? Can you give me any any two cents on on his health availability? Sure. Trevor got banged up two nights ago on a on a throw and then a swing, his elbow bothering them a little bit. And we'll come back from his scan structurally. It looks like it's cold, but he's pretty bummed out, but we'll go back even tough guy and I don't know what timeframe is, but I expect seeing back at some point. All right. Well, Charlie, good luck over the rest of the season. Good luck to your fantasy team. If you ever need me advice, you know I'm sitting right here for you. You know what I'm saying? I'm here for. Thank you. Got it. You take care Charlie Blackmon rocky center. Fielder Charlie, Charlie, Blackmon, Chuck, underscore nasty. And as e t y. On Twitter, love that guy. You know, it's an amazing thing to how he says that how you handle adversity is how you can succeed and you hear that a lot from athletes. You hear that a lot from professional athletes, right? But more than not baseball, you better figure that out because you're like you said, you're failing seventy percent of the time. If you're a great player at that, the best players that are in Cooperstown on average, get out sixty to sixty five percent of the time right sixty five to seventy percent of the time, right? Don't reach base six or seven times out of ten. It's just it's an an a game goes on forever. Sometimes nightly certainly for the season, and he's just a fun player..

"You know, I do. I pretty much work out every major muscle group, my body once every four days and. Even sometimes five days. Okay. Once out of every four. So it's it's sort of like a rotation like a pitching rotation. Is that what you're saying? Well, do. I'll do upper body workout after the game, and then like four or five days later, I'll do another body workout, you know, but one also do a lower body workout, and then I'll be like core, strengthening, and then I'll know. So there's a, you know, three or four different work whilst, but I'll do on. I'll make sure that I do. You know. As I'll do, I'll. What about beard maintenance, Charlie? What does that do you have a regimen for that. No, there's not as much work that goes into that you might soap in it and wealth should out so it doesn't get all Noddy and that's it. There's nothing about, are you serious? I mean, there's no. There's no scissors. No, no, no, scaping no, nothing. It just is. I don't. I don't call anybody except for like once every two months I gets pretty well on its own penny itself. You know, sometimes a little coconut oil in there. You know the dry Rocky Mountain air. That right. But if you're on a streak, you don't touch it, right? No. Mobile jump just waiting. Just you're, I'm just seeing if you ever wait for certain moment before you actually touch the beard. So how do you stay loose when it's it's, this is it. I mean, it's time. Dodgers are getting hot. You need a win tonight. I mean, you don't need to, but it would be helpful if you did. I mean, how do you and your teammates St Louis in something like this really. Well, I mean, this is this is why we play the game. That you have to embrace. I don't think you shy away from this. You know, you even working your whole life. And at the same time, you know, I'm very thankful and lucky to be able to be in the situation where I get to go baseball. And so I think just kind of that perspective helps me stay loose and have fun, but still understand that that I worked very hard to get here. And then I, I wanna do well, and I want. You know, I, I love that answer Charlie because you know, my my, my youngest son has been playing baseball playing pony baseball, and he just loves putting on a uniform and cleats in the hat and running out to his position in the field. And I, I would sit there just saying to myself what must, what does that feel like to be able to do that professionally, where you're also handsomely paid for? What the hell does that feel like to be able to put on a uniform play a game like baseball, every single day. I, you know, I think if you change from that pony league quit. You know, Herning it into a job. I think you're in trouble. I'm seeing guys do that, but I think he still got to play the game because you love it and, and the best players I see in my locker room and other locker rooms are the guys just genuinely loved the game. "Two hours, before the first pitch we. Go every Saturday. During the baseball, season we do it down on the. Farm reports and so were hitting them all and we're going to, cherry pick a couple of guys out clubbing yes Brendan Rogers we will talk about him We're going to hit all of the farm clubs and just to, a little half way were report essentially a midseason update on a few of, the guys that are down in the farm system and maybe some of these. Guys met Rogers going to be one of them we're going to. See, when they, expand the rosters to forty And is that ever going to go away Talks about it a lot last season The number got done with that that that won't, happen until the next collective bargaining agreement which. I believe is in twenty twenty one I get them confused with the NFL and the NBA NHL all the. Time to. The CBS's roll around here all right let's close the book on what has happened though in the, National League West and the, biggest story not only in the, division not only in the National League but in major league baseball and what could be probably one of the biggest traits that we have seen Midseason leading up to a trade deadline in, many years and that is, all star shortstop Manny Machado going, over to the dodgers egos get prospects and they weren't even really the absolute top prospects of the dodgers I think LA really made out, very very well ESPN's Tim Kirk and, talked about it, says, the dodgers pretty good and got better I think he's. A, huge difference maker I think he makes them the team to beat now in the nationally. The dodgers were pretty guard good anyway Kirk chin ads though that. The dodgers need to add to their pitching staff now whether, it's a starting rotation or in the bullpen they are. Going to need help, there Machado's, not the guy that's going to get them, over the top Machado is, a, guy that when the playoffs to roll around he's the guy that's gonna win. The game for. You he and Matt camp Justin Turner but to have a guy in the lineup let's go to get four five six ABC's, potentially in a playoff game and, the dodgers a play in game they are, wildcard Gabay, are looking at a seven game series and have a guy like Manny Machado in the lineup and was defense to. Boot that's pretty good adding one guy. When you're two games up doesn't mean you're going to sprint away from, everybody but it could happen. We watch, it happen with, the, Bax but this is the dodgers competence that they're going. To, make the playoffs and they needed that one more piece that one more bat to really. Put him over the top they were in the World Series last. Year three zero three seven one three eight five eight five, so that puts a rap on a five prospects from. The dodgers off the, Orioles the, dodgers look pretty darn good don't they coming, up for you we are, going, to go down on the farm and we will do that and we will. Talk about rotate. You have thoughts who should be the guy to start for the Rockies We head. Into the second half of the season tomorrow night what do you think Is. It just back to John gray great last Saturday and you go back up there it's just the way that we've been rolling what he's to Kyle Freeland up there or. Is it somebody else Okay yeah It could go just about. Any way so we'll do that here in just a little bit, three, zero, three, seven, one, three, eight, five eight five talked about in the all star game and how there were ten home runs and twenty five strikeouts in how at the mid point of the season overall, in baseball there are more strikeouts than there are hits or the Rockies are in that trend, quite yet but. They're. Close Season to date they've got eight hundred, twenty two strikeouts Trevor story leads away. He's got one hundred and two strikeouts Now the Rockies also again let's go to the power number's Iraqis have. Five guys that are. In double digits for home runs already Leading the way as Nollet Arnaut twenty three home runs Trump story has twenty Charlie Blackmon with nineteen Ian Desmond with eighteen and Carlos Gonzales with eleven you. Got the guys with the power hits wise Iraqis, have, eight hundred forty three So.

"All right number four i don't know if this really qualifies as an issue that's going to define the season but here we go of these upcoming free agent outfielders who is most likely to sign an extension with his current team charlie blackmon adam jones or injure mccutchen i guess i'll say well with blackman you had the history of the rocky signing some of their stars to long term extensions with jones you have his history in baltimore and what he's meant to the city and the team i'll say mccutchen is least likely and i'll say i'll say jones's most likely yeah i will say i don't care about this question at all and also say that to all right responses charlie blackmon twentyfive and adam jones nine but cut three none three no opinion too i think all three i think all three probably say where they are is that an option a scout said it's not an option most likely the format of question come on people pick different people crasnick all right well that sorta surprised as me but i i wouldn't be surprised if like inside extension but i'm sorta surprised that people think that he's that much more likely than jones all right five will clayton kershaw stay with the dodgers on his current deal or opt out of his contract after the season if he out what is his most likely destination i will say that most say that he will opt out i don't know thirty say he'll up doubt.
