"You with those guys you knew they were constance and if they were if you ask the question with those guys on the line you'll be saying no they're not getting replaced. These guys are will be there until their injure but this is this is a different a different line that there's so many question marks and question marks have the potential to let you down so j. The question again is the starting projected off lines is assuming that it's the five that we talked about earlier in the show. Will that be barring injury. No one gets hurt. Will that be the same offense line. They finished the regular season. With what do you think that. Barring injury is the thing because frankly i think if the steelers are going to change anything up it would be more because of that. I know because you because the problem is even look at what they did last year when they still didn't play kevin dotson in the playoff game because they were how they were with the guys that they wanted as their starting line. That's the biggest reasons i would say that. Perhaps they don't but the reason if they possibly would. I don't know that it's as much as guys not getting it done as it is. I like i'm right now now granted. It's the preseason. But i really excited about some of these other guys on the offensive line like i said a lot of people said in the live chat is there. Are they going to get to a point. Where they're going to have to treat dan moore junior like they shoulda treated Kevin dotson last year. I would like to say yeah that you can't keep that guy off the field. The problem is even as good as kevin dotson was last year. They still wouldn't start them if they if they didn't have to. And that's the only thing that's holding me back. But i could see someone like a dan moore junior being ready to go. I could even see. Bj finney being a good. A good option guard if things aren't working out with mister turner as brian says. I'm still hoping we can get the magic back with him eventually. It'll take some time and jeff. I have to say one more thing because there someone that are. That's really upset about this in the live chat. It's my new hats on monday. Freeze answered this question. My gosh okay elite insulin again. What is it. It's a black on black steelers logo. Where only the top. Hypo psych loyd is gold national. I wish all of them will go with local on cooler. Fell three of them were. I already have a black hat. That has no. I have a black cat. That has the gold with the black kids sitting right over there but this was just different and unique. And i'm like oh i'll i'll go with that. What i kind of. I thought it would go. Good with my color rush so there you go nice new hat. I actually think this is going to be barring injury. The same starting off of line for the reason. Dave said they're not gonna throw dan more in there. They're going to pull data with him. I i still do believe that. Still do believe that. All right last question here for me. Two questions situ parter who is the week one. Starting outside cornerback. Opposite joe hayden. Brian gilbertson with you james pier. I think they're moving in that direction. I think they're liking camp. Sutton more as a nickelback. So i think it's as simple as that disagree. Dave okay i'll go ahead and answer it because you question. If you're going to ask the second part i guess you you're part one okay because i'm gonna guess what the second part is too and that's how i'm gonna answer it. I'm going to say. I think that we one. It's going to be camp sutton but if we kinda go off the last question if your follow up is going to be would be the same player by the end of the season. I'm going to say no okay. I was because who's starting cornerback. Opposite joe hayden at the bye week by week okay. I'm even their oud. Which is week eight coming off. The bye week is we came weeks after the. I'm going say miami. Someone might be different engaged brian. Let's go to to now. He think if you said that. Pierre is that starting at week one is he still that guy after the bye week. I'm getting such a willie williams vibe out of james pierre right now. Where he was is that that thing is that a bad thing. When willie williams wasn't bad they they feel like when you say that i don't know it. Sometimes i felt like a bad. No gr- i think that's a great thing because look what he did in the one thousand nine hundred ninety five season. Oh you starting opposite rod woodson. A lot of people don't realize that he started the season of corner. And everybody's like who is and why is he in there and i believe he had seven interceptions that season. If i'm not mistaken he he really played well. And i just have a feeling. James pierre keeping one on the calm one pierre because i remember the filter for the marlins and all those years but james pierre was kept on the fifty three man roster last year and nobody got to see him in preseason and they did not dare put this guy on the practice squad because they knew boop snapped up. Just like that. Just like deontay. Spencer that still bugging but anyways james pierre is a guy that they looked at last year as a guy having a future on this team and i think the future is starting now james pierre. They know what they have in cam sutton they could go ahead and look at him on the corner but it seems like as practice and training camp has grown into what number eighteen number nineteen somewhere around there there. It's starting to shake out more with who they want to go with now. You're not experimenting as much. So that's why. I think it's going to be james pierre there and the guys that you're seeing now or probably the guys that they're looking at as for reals can i come in o'brien's sure if i'd gone with brian answer of jean-pierre that i would've said no it wouldn't change after the bye week but because i went with cam sudden that's what i would say yes and i'm not saying that it's his dead at. It's a problem with cam sudden as much as it might be. He might be the only guy i mean. It seems like they're trying to throw an awful lot of stuff at that slot corner right now..

"I'm not saying that what i'm saying. Is that what if we are learning about specific individual players. And that's where. I'm going to go with this podcast today before we get to that. I think it's worth noting that so far in camp. Everything has been geared up towards the hall of fame game the hall of fame game. That's gonna happen. Thursday august fifth in kano ohio against the dallas cowboys there. I mean you've heard. Mike tomlin talk about this ad nauseam. He talks about the quarterbacks in who's getting the work and who's getting more reps with the ones and the twos it's based on who is going to be starting in that hall of fame game. It's about the offensive line. Dan moore junior left. Tackle kendrick green at center. They're getting the majority of reps. Why because they want. They're going to be the ones that are gonna be starting in the hall of fame game. That is where everything has been going in terms of teamwork team drills team sessions. They want to get the players that are going to be playing a lot significant reps in the hall of fame game. they wanna get them repetitions. I have to think before. I move onto these individual players. I have to think that some of these players are probably going to be really really nervous going into this. Preseason going into these games even the hall of fame game. Is ben rothlisberger going to be nervous. No he's probably not even an address. But is someone like antoine brooks junior nervous. Maybe is someone like. Bj finney nervous. I would think so think about. Bj finish just general. Here's a guy that was an undrafted rookie at a kansas state. From the pittsburgh steelers his childhood his favorite team. He turns his backup..

"Bridgestone. Crowd partners of the Cincinnati Bengals Keep things moving along this Monday night. It's all things Bangles Bangles Light of the Bengals radio Network in 700, WLW, Lance McAllister and Dave Lap on what a treat to welcome in our next guest. He's the Bengals director of college scouting. That would be Mike Potts, Mike. Welcome to Bengals line. Hey, guys. Thanks for having me on Mike. I'll tell you what, What a job this past draft. I mean, director College scouting. Put the bat on the ball every single round. I mean, it's incredible. What this rookie classes doing? Take us through your thoughts on on these guys a little bit. Give us a thumbnail sketch of what you think of some of these guys. Yeah, I think overall I've been really happy. I think everybody's been been really happy with the efforts. We've gotten out of this rookie class, especially In these circumstances, and you know, not having a full offseason and our coaches have done a great job developing these guys getting them up to speed both mentally and physically. I think the bye bye week. It's here at a good time for these guys. Look back and reflect on what they've done the first half of the season. Like you said, We've got contract contributions out of all seven of our draft picks. The majority of them have AH, have seen real significant snaps. For us on DH, You know I've got I've got positive things to say about all of these guys, you know? So I'm looking for looking for improvement. Hopefully in the second half of the year from all of these guys, but I think things are ah. Things are really optimistic with this draft class, and I think we've got some building blocks that we can We can work with going forward. Andi think this class will help us win a lot of games and future Like what really jumped out to me. The Tennessee game. You get contributions from all seven draft picks II total 342 snaps from this draft class last week and 203 on offense, 95 on defense 44 on special teams. That's a heck of a contribution from one class in one game. Yeah, I think you thought, Tio, you know, so the class really, really contribute. Probably They're there. Most significant snaps like you said in this past week. You know, some of it was due to injury on the O line. Obviously, we have the three injuries in the Cleveland game. So Hakeem and Energy ends up getting his first career start on. Doesn't really nice job, you know, collect. Karim has continued to come on for us, You know, from that edge outside linebacker defensive end Roll for us in the two young linebackers that we took in the 3rd and 4th round of continued, Teo, you know, take on more and more of a role as the years has gone on, you know, So, like I said, Hopefully, that's a sign of things to come. And the's guys just rolls just continue to grow here over these thieves last eight games the last half of the year not only the rookie class that you Put together for this year. But what about the veterans in the in the age of covert 19 to get BJ Finney Quinton, Spain, who I mean this guy historic what he was able to pull off and do the fact that you guys were out there hitting the streets and literally getting guys off the streets and making trades and doing things you're doing to. Ah, supplement and fulfill the roster. One necessary is just remarkable. I mean, you guys really deserve a huge pat on the back for that effort. Yes, it's been awesome to see. I mean, to be honest with you the You know the past to dress we reorganized, restructured our personnel department. So the majority of my efforts go towards the draft in college scouting with Ah You know, lending my opinion and helping hand on the pro side when it's needed, So ah, lot of that. A lot of those accolades should go to Steve or dystopic on the pro side as well as Andrew Johnson and inclusion Sarkeesian. Open him out on that side there big done a great job, Whether it's Ah To trade labor claims poaching guys off other teams, practice squads or guys that are just out there on the streets that we that we bring in for a workout. Obviously, we've had. We've had some hold the patch on the roster, whether it was through opt outs or Or injuries on and those guys have done a done a great job of Ah, pulling, pulling guys you know off, you know, from different areas that you can acquire players on the pro scouting side. And yeah, like like you mentioned with Quentin, Spain. You know, it's pretty remarkable that a guy can come in and and have that type of impact, you know, with really just being around the team for a day or two. But that's that's the environment that we're in. And And you know it doesn't It doesn't Ah, doesn't make any sense for us to sit around and complain about the circumstances I think are I think a personnel staff has done a great job of embracing the challenge and And I think I think you saw that again. You know, you mentioned the rookie class. I think some of the guys that were required on the pro scouting side in that Tennessee game is well, really, really helped us. To get that win, and hopefully that's some positive momentum that we can build a working forward Mike, Let's go big picture for Bengal fans listening kind of explain what your your day to day personally is like in this organization. Uh, like I said, the majority of of what I do is overseeing the college scouting efforts and you know, working with our other scouts to build the draft board. So I would say that the majority it's hard to put a percentage on it. You know, maybe maybe close to 80%. My time is on that. And then the other 20% is helping out Steve on the on the pro side, But the majority of my my day in this environment has been on spent on zoom calls or on the phone with college coaches. Getting information on Ah, on the college prospects for the draft. A swell is obviously watching a ton of tape on those guys. So just working through Ah, working through all the schools that are scouts Are in charge of being being the primary guy for evaluating on the college side. And then what kind of probably in the next month or so will will shift to more of a crosscheck Shayes were now I'll end up Getting in the top 100 to 150 guys that that we have grated, you know, with draftable grades, and I'll evaluate all those guys as well. And you know if I have other other sources on the coaching staff that you know, guys that I know from the past that I can Reach out to us. Well, you know, continue to gather more information on those guys and you know that's that's kind of what What my duties are in during the fall, and then and then, in the spring, you no. Come come January will move into the All Star game in the combine and produce these and things like that, So it's always something new dependent on the depending on the time of year. There's no rules. There's never a bye week. I guess for scouting along is this playing college games? There's going to be shown the watch and and, you know, coaches call and things like that. So there's never really never really a day off. In doing this stuff from we're always we're always looking to evaluate and look for players that can help us. Yeah, and you deal with some of the star players opting out, you know, not wanting to take a chance with Covitz. That's one less year of games to evaluate on guys. Maybe you have some evaluations, but some might not have been final and you wanted to see another year out of a guy that you don't see..
Ross to Bengals: Trade me if this is how you feel
"Friday, opening up about his role with the team in his future in Cincinnati. He tweeted quote. It's not a secret that I have requested a trade trade me If this is how you all feel I'm healthy and eager to play. I know I could be productive. It's hard to love something when you're not actually participating in it. Believe me, It's on football that I don't like. The NFL trade deadline is this Tuesday? The Bengals earlier this week training veteran defensive and Carlos Dunlap to Seattle in exchange for offensive lineman BJ Finney and the Seahawks seventh round pick next year. This after a reported a rift between Dunlap and the team are next update is at 1

"It could have been wrong. I once a month saying they selling his house right after the Browns lost was the right thing to do. But hey, he's got a right to be angry on that. I mean this Bengals team should not be one five and one no way. Jose Engles could develop the clutch Gene under clutch Gene even not clutch Gene. Whatever. I just said if they could be clutch under coach Taylor, you know, we're looking at a different language, especially in the year or the AFC North is loaded. It's pretty much Pittsburgh and Baltimore, which I can't wait to see that result the first week Cleveland's in there. I mean stefanski wage. Call stefanski on here. I don't know why I apologize. But stefanski I think is a nice fit for Cleveland and for Cincinnati. It's just the big question marks are you know? Are we actually going to spend a little money on the o-line next year maybe stock up on defense? I don't know. I mean, oh by the way Dunlop was traded wage and this is only about the third time since the mid-1980s for The Bangles traded mid-season. You might remember I think it was 85 was a Dan Rossiter dine-in home you get shipped off to Seattle back in the eighties 2011. You have Carson Palmer who was not playing at all. He gets shipped to Oakland and now Carlos Dunlop gets shipped to Seattle. What do the Bangles get? Well seventh-round pick which you know, normally if you if you see the field as a son round pick, you know, either your team is depleted or you do have special talent in your life to catch at that level or you know debt peace. And also there was an offensive lineman that was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals now dead. I looked at his stats as I go back to find out the name because I forgot to write it down on my thing. Sorry, but Thursday, I mean it's more death on the offensive line. Sure, especially with that big the big loss to Trey Hopkins who I think's the better Center over Billy Price home. He might be traded. But again The Bangles have had three trade since the mid-eighties in the season. I don't know that's happening or not. BJ Finney. I thought was BJ Finnegan are some I don't know but BJ Finney is a interior offensive lineman. He does have AFC North experience with the Pittsburgh Steelers and also during his time in Pittsburgh. Only three penalties against them too were offensive holding which you know, that's a big killer most the time, you know cost you ten yards and everything and the other one was a false start 3-month granted not a starter. He's been a backup but experience because hey you get on the field as a backup and you know even supposed to be part of the Seahawks line, but it just never happened. So Seattle trade them white with that stuff around pick also had a two-year eight million dollar deal with the Seahawks before being sent off to Cincinnati office 318 pounds coming at you as a center. He's been in the league since 2015 at 29 years of age six foot four again, 3:18 born in late 1991. So there you go. I don't know why I mentioned the birthday when I always said the age, but there you go. So interesting, I mean with Billy Price being hurts actually was surprised..

"Checking with George Talked about Halloween costumes might get a little more into that sweet And don't forget Fred Fall back. Yes, that's right. Battery right in the Sunday is awesome, because that's what we need is an an extra hour of this year. Well, what we need to we need darkness at five. Can't wait for that. Very great as if the suicide rates are any are already threatened roof. So you so you and we talked. We're talking a little football time at the Bangles a little bit. I know the Bengals Roundtable Lansing, Rocky Boy men were on before us each and every Thursday night. So the Bangles actually traded Carlos Dunlap after he Ah took to the social media to put his house on the Moor allegedly up for sale two minutes after the game, Correct and they traded into the Seattle Seahawks. For a center BJ Finney and 1/7 round draft pick next year, but I think the big key is they unload. They get that number against the cabinets, double digit million's Honestly, if you're not going to play the dude for whatever else and he obviously had been disgruntled, you might have their trade. And here's the thing I would say Yes, it gave me a glimmer of hope. I have said this for years. I'm a Steeler fan. I know that's not a popular place to be in this town. But I've always said I would love to live in a town that has winning foot. Sure, Unfortunately, this team is in my team's division. Bennett Steeler fans in 73 years had really been a threat. Honestly, though, no, but everybody He says, You know, why do you hate him so much on paper? I like Geo. Bernard. I like tea. Higgins. I like Boyd. I like burrow over the years. There's been a couple of guys here there that I liked. You know, I like Tyler. I'm hurt. I liked him a lot. But there was just certain guys that I did like, but I couldn't get behind the organization because of its ownership. Megan did not like the way And it wasn't that I hated hated somebody. Personally, I just didn't like the way that I felt the fan base was treated all the way back to the states to understand all of that, because my team That I chose to follow had a family that runs the team, and when they saw things that needed to be done, they did them and they did them and they always said, And, you know, I'm sure some of it was lip service, but It was for the fans, and it was for to put together an organization you could be proud of, and that out, ultimately fostered a winning tradition. This was the cut The thing done lab did. I was I guaranteed the people sitting around me when we were talking about this is that now Just let it go. What they do. They don't do anything about it. They think you just go and slap him and they turn the other cheek and you slap the other cheek and they turn the other cheek If you slap that cheek again. I admire this. Do you know since 1985. This is the third in season trade? Nothing What I said 1985 3rd in season trait they traded Dan Ross. Tight end from years gone by back to Seattle traded Carson Palmer. During the season and end on that that I mean that that was almost done by by popular, correct the coal trade that had to be done, but they didn't put up with And I mean, wasn't there a story they invited him to stay home from practice. That was right before the train will work in trade. And I tell you what else did it showed that the organization was behind Zach Taylor coach like Zach Taylor or not? They made it. They made a resounding you know, because Zach Taylor basically said, Look, you're not gonna play your tonight We don't do things this and that's what I liked was that was that little glimmer of hope that maybe somebody in that front office gets it now or starting again. Don't let there be another was at Pickens. It was such a cancer. Well, Carl Pickens was a pain in the ass. Corey Dillon Dillon similar scenario. I mean, they let those guys and don't forget under more than Lewis would chant Johnson and chant. Oh, Joe Single then. Then the years of just off the field transgressions that I put a lot of that Quentin and Mike Brown's culpable too, because he would say, You know, he was the guy who would give second chances, but I put them on the coach. If Morgan Lewis truly said I had enough of this, I mean, and and maybe Zach Taylor did. I mean, I don't know. Well, and that's what we talked about, like, with Antonio Brown going right on to tamp why you don't need him. Why? And, Well, I mean, Brady's not gonna put up with his nonsense. Bruno Syrians in areas of hell on he already transferred your but here's the problem. Only issue is Tennessee comes in town this week. They'll just beat down the Bangles. I mean, that's not even I mean, Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill in their defense. They've lost once. That was Sunday. They won't be pleased. Then the Bangles have abi than they have Pittsburgh. I'm going with 4 11 and one okay? Yeah. You mentioned that Monday's my record for 11. I thought they'd win more than the five games they projected to win. Because I figured burro would figure take the 1st 3rd of the season. Will you fingered and he has he's made. He's he's making moves, and he looks like he looks like him playing, you know, at Ella's You offensive Player of the week first Bangle rookie to throw for 400 plus yards, but they still have so many other issues and you get injuries on the offensive line, which is bad to begin with. And that's why Finney coming over. He didn't play for Seattle. I mean and honestly, God, the draft pick of Billy Price, He's brutal. I think I lost the starting center this past weekend, right? More guys on offense, right? So I mean, until they can figure out a way to protect him. That's no no, That's no revelation. The correct that's what's been set on fire time. But so then Steelers Ravens who wins that one. I think the Ravens are given up for at That's a good thing Is that Baltimore Baltimore, you think? Well, I just think it's hard to go undefeated in Pittsburgh was tenuous last week. I mean, let's be honest, I mean, they had a lot of right. They've blown leads, and it's been hard to watch the end of the game. And I'd be remiss heading into the news of the bottom of the hour. So great high school football tomorrow night going to be chilly, But how about Saint Xavier? Lakota West? In the region for final. We know both these coaches like him. Steve Spect. The bombers scored 220 points the last four games. I think that's too less than Lakota West of scored all year, but West undefeated Tom, Bold new coach Specht and Boldin good friends. They their defense force shut out six teams and single data. There's gonna be a hell of a game and the winner goes to the state semifinals and in Division two unbeaten Kings at unbeaten Winwood's Anderson Atlas, Saoirse ungrateful Bolas Weaken Wyoming still plan Roger Bacon still playing. There's a game between Ross and Hamilton Baden, So they played week one. Now they go at it again. Love this time of year. I love Anne. And it's hard to believe we were just talking about getting back into the season and now we'll write the end of it well, and the good news is with the exception of a couple weeks. They made it mean they're making it this far. Um, and hopefully it won't be any issue as they continue to go well, the state champion again knock on wood that this is the last time we have to see these sorts of adjustments from correct Major League baseball to mean how odd will beat aware this World Series ring. Weird for 2020 were, but you know what I would tell you. I know it's a sprint and all that stuff of the Dodgers were the best team. Really. They've been the best team a few other years and had the Astros not cheated. They would probably want a second where you go there. You have it. All right..

"Event and disgruntled Carlos Dunlap to the Seattle Seahawks yesterday in exchange for offensive lineman BJ Finney, a former Steeler in 1/7 round draft pick, head coach Zach Taylor. Carlos had a tremendous career here. I made a great impact on this organization and in the community here, did a lot of really positive things and was always out about the community, so it'll be a good fit for him have a great opportunity, and we just wish him the best among the players reacting. Jesse Bates. That's unfortunate. Obviously, I think Carlos is a good Percy. I'm just happy that he's another situation where maybe he's going to have some success. That's all Seattle head coach Pete Carroll and give him a chance to help us in an area where you know we've been talking about for some time. That would be James European. How are you? I'm talking to Lance Howard, you are You never stop talking. First things first. Are you I'll phrase it this way. How surprised are you that they actually traded Carlos Dunlap. I'm not surprised. I think they realized one that they had to and it was. It would just get in the way too. Setting a precedent, right? You know, we think back to the Carson Palmer deals and the petting that with sandwich will my grandad When I said a prayer for the end of treating this kind of players are here. The last thing you want, Teo Hey. All right, Let's reward. Carlos, don't match temper tantrum. By releasing him because when he gets to pick where he goes, so I wasn't surprised. I know we're going to get into the hall. I was a little bit surprised by that, to be honest, considerate. I think that pretty much everything he could to tank a straight value over the past month. What do you think of what they got in return? I like and I like I said, I was surprised one. What have we talked about this Bangles the offensive line. And is there any people assume much people complain rather about Bobby Hart? He hasn't been there worst offensive linemen. It's been the interior and I'm not talking about Senator Park about there's two guards. So the fact that you get a guy in B J. Penn, who spent the first four years of his career is stealing the backup lineman who's really good at pass protection. According to pro football focus. I like it. I like it A lot of the guys under contract Next year. You get a look at him this year. How many guaranteed money you could move on from him for a million dollar capital field to keep a long term, you know, are in the mix, at least in 2021 for you, and then you get 1/7 round pick and let's be honest lands. That's probably what they were going to get. I think that's what a lot of people are expecting. Maybe a conditional seventh that bumped up to a sex awaits Kevin Brown pick, but it's something and like I said, You're not sending that president now off. We're going to reward your temper tantrum by release you instead. You got a guy that might end up starting a few games in the trenches and you get a draft And you know that. You know, this draft picks our currency. Nobody says you have to keep it. You could package it. Maybe add on making a throwing on a deal that you do, Toto bump to get somebody else Who knows? And that's exactly honestly if I'm the bangle, that's what I'm trying to do, right. A lot of people over the next 16 years. They're gonna be talking about different trades. That angle could make different veterans they could They could let go off our move on from Yeah, that's seven Children and instead of getting another seven to get a fix from the team You know, do something like that. And I certainly think that they need to be open and be creative in that realm, because if so, they can turn some of these assets into Ah, contractual pieces from the future. Who would be on that list between now and Tuesday that you would like to see them I ng is possible guys they would deal Well, they certainly need to be shopping on Ross on DH. That's just luck. But we know You know how I feel. I felt about you still feel that he could be used right? But the reality is they don't feel that way. So at some point, you got to move on, and he's going to be a free agent agent asked for a trade Like I saw him take some specialty snaps today. So you know, they don't really know if he's gonna be inactive. You might as well get something for him. So that's the guy. I would pack it, David, maybe 1/7 and try to get fit, You know, because I don't think it's values plate. But you Ah, you might get a team that's willing And I think there are other guys on this last year as well that you need to have a conversation about a J. Green, but he had a couple of weeks. This team. The reason they got into this, Carlos down that situation, Lance Because they didn't have the foresight considering the circumstances. I like the hall. But if you would have told me that six months ago, we would have laughed at it. Are you kidding me? That's a gift for help, but he was he was the best defensive player. Kind of sudden end of the year last year, had eight sacks, so they need to have the foresight they might be productive now. Are they part of our long term plan? And if the answer is no, then take calls on a necklace or, you know, act in the Jade Green tech. They really need to make their decision in their mind. Now, I said. About a guy like William Jackson. But there's about a guy like Carl Lawson, because if they're gonna leave leave in free agency, then maybe you feel calls on them as well. You're you're 16 and one now. I mean, it's 15116 and one other had enough quick. But if you're gonna have to be open to dealing some of these guys and trying to get pieces in future value As you move forward there, you hit on the two in particular that I would flag William Jackson third and Carl Lawson. For those who don't understand I don't..

I'm not gonna give you the one day because Ryan Shazia, we all know that Ryan shades. There will not be back. So let me, but I do wanna talk about him. We'll wait till the end now. So let's go with Anthony chick alot Tyson a Lulu and Ramon foster. I kinda I kinda talked about foster already. I think that they say, you know, hey. Here's our best offer. You can take it now or you can hit free agency and Tessa guess in that scenario, they give an offer a Lulu. I think you also give him an offer. I think he's versatile enough and experienced enough. He's a good piece to have in case. Something happens a tutor Hayward. Who was the third name? I apologize. It was Chickasaw. I got I gotta say no offer a yeah. He's a special teams guy. Yeah. He's deb. I just have to believe that there's even another backup in the NFL. That's could be better at rushing the past with him. So I'm gonna say no offer on him. But I give offers the other two young going to give no offered athlete chick f- alot. He gets no offer Tyson Lucas, he's a cow guy. He'll get an offer. Cal football stand up. You know what I'm saying? Ramon foster he'll get an offer as well. I mean, he played. Wow. Ninety nine point nine percent of the snaps. The steelers. That's the one thing about Ramon foster is not only the solid player doesn't give up pressure. Really good pass protector. But he's door man that guy plays games in a veil ability often is the best ability lady on bail think we can both assume that lady on bail would not be back. Let's get to the restrictive free agents. We only have two we talked about to start a program you have to have signed a three year contract. Meaning you're an unsigned personally your draft or undrafted excuse me, undrafted undrafted, players, get three your contracts where at the termination or at the end of your third year, you become a restricted free agent. If you're drafted its four year deal. So restricted free agency for the large part is being eliminated the National Football League Duda rolls the two Steelers which took a free agents are exam your grumble in BJ Finney. No or oh. They do like X men grumble in Finney is considered by many to be. If something happens to foster leads a foster.

"And there's a lot of people that believe he's ready to be a starter on NFL team. And he's great inside death guy. Can you bring both of these players back? That is the question that I ask myself can you afford to give Ramon foster a reasonable deal that's gonna keep him in Pittsburgh, and key BJ Finney who let's be honest would be a starter on a lot of teams as of two thousand nineteen can you do it? If you can that's a heck of a deal because you're giving yourself death in the interior. We're talking center and guard and you're also getting a proven. Commodity and Ramon foster back now Ramon foster has his weaknesses. He's not as athletic as the rest of the lineman. But at the same time he is typically as stout as they come in both the run game and the pass blocking game. He's not your typical pooling guard David decastro, he so let it he gets around the edge even pouncey fosters not that type of guy which may be limits. You a little bit. I'm not going to give foster a deal that's anywhere near if it's three years that third year is basically a look we can cut you. And we're not gonna lose anything. Would you wouldn't go beyond that? What you Dave? I mean, what how old is he thirty one. I think it is thirty. He's on the wrong side of thirty. I'm pretty sure I mean, he's he might be more than that. 'cause they beast thirty one for some reason I'm thinking he's been around longer than he is keeping them. Both would be great. But it's also you gotta think realistically. And then you gotta think about who. You would rather have. Kind of makes me feel like munch aci- Seret where you're like if you're if you're if you keep the one, you're probably gonna lose the other. But if you lose the one, you gotta do everything you can to keep the other. So I don't know how it's going to play out. But if either one of them are gone, I wouldn't be shocked to see him in Denver. I agree with that. Now. So is that if you'll you'll get an inkling of this on on what the Steelers do by how they handle any because I think he's a guy they can lock up first. So they give Finney deal when he signs it. Then they're basically telling foster like, look, we'll wa- for you this. That's it. You know that that's our deal because we've we've already locked up the future so to speak if they give Finney a four year deal, which is not out of the realm of possbility. He's still very young. I wanna say it's only his third year in the league. So he's got a lot of years left. He doesn't have a lot of tread on those tire so to speak. So how the Steelers play their cards early in this new league years gonna show a lot in terms of how they're going to approach Ramon foster in free agency. But let's go to another player on the office of line who is still under contract, but could be released slash cut. I don't know if it'd be a post June first as. Nation rating like that that would be Marcus Gilbert Gilbert, as I said earlier has missed four games and he's played in the last two years. Whether it was the knee injury this year the suspension last year, he said other ailments that have kept him off the field. Dave, you're the general manager. Kevin colbert. What are you doing with Marcus Gilbert? Well, I don't like we said before it went on the air. I think there's hardly any dead money that goes along with him if you were to just release him outright. So you just gotta decide if you really wanna even pay him the money. You're gotta pay him to be there or just say, you know, what we have other options that are just as good less expensive. And we can go with it. About the time they cut Gilbert is when the is when you have a season where their offense of line goes down dude injury. It just seems like that's probably what's what is going to be. But I really don't see any reason to bring him back. It's just it's not that the Steelers really could use the money, but there's better ways to spend it than that..

"But at the same time, you still want someone that's going to be able to get garner their attention, keep their attention have respect. And I I would hope that the Steelers did that when they before they pulled the trigger on promoting him from assistant to you know, the offense of line coach the perfect person would be to talk to David decastro marquees fountains. Look guys on your thoughts. Here is this guy. Good enough to get the job done if they say, yes, you got my blessing. That's my theory. I think they did that the week before when there was a chance that muntjac was going to be of the head coach and Denver that had to be what what happened 'cause the plan was in place was it two hours after the report came on shack definitely was going to be the offense of line. Coach Denver that they announced the promotion of Seret. I mean, yeah, they knew what they were doing. They this was this was all planned out of Zach. What was going to happen? Yeah. So let's talk about that offense blindness. The preview show them. We're going to preview this offense group. You know, this is a strength of the of the Steelers team as as a whole especially for the offense. They they're coming off a very good season. Ben Rothlisberger was not sacked that much. I don't have the number in front of me. But they kept him clean for a good stretch of time. And I think about that six game winning streak that they had. And I wanna say there were games where it was a mystery games and told where they only given up one sack during that stretch is pretty amazing. And so you might have some turnover there now outside of munch. Heck, let's talk about some of that turnover. The the offensive line heading into two thousand eighteen obviously was all hundred on the waiver room. Ramon foster marquees pouncey, David decastro and Marcus Gilbert, very well-known very good been together for a long time. Might see some new faces. Now. So Ramone foster is said to be a free agent this season this off season, a Marcus Gilbert has missed more games. He's played in the last two years. So my question for you. Because everyone else is under contract Villanueva got his deal last year. Decastro got his two ago two years ago marquees pounds. He got his like, I think three or four he still under contract as well. So -mongst the starting five fosters a free agent in then there's this question Mark about Gilbert. Dave on asking you. Let's start with foster. I if you're the Steelers what are what is your approach to foster before heading into free agency. Do you try to get him locked up or how do you handle that? I saw report while you were on cleanup duty. And I was checking Twitter. Wait never start. I can't remember who it was from. But it was a report that that that that foster said that the Steelers of already told him that they would like to have him back. So we've already got that going. So they told him they want him back. I think they want him back at the right price. So I've heard you say several times, and I completely agree. You gotta get him back at the right price. You can tell him. This is what we would like to pay you. If you wanna go out and test the market and see if you can do better, we will allow you to do that. They can't tell them that they can't. But we understand if you want to do that. But maybe even say, hey. Let us know before you do anything else. I mean, I they don't have to say that. But I would I'd kinda like to have that agreement with him because he's a I mean, he's your he's your players association rep. Respect a guy in locker room. I think he's a good guy to have back. And I think they could really work together to see if they could make the best deal. It's gonna be interesting because if you look at the depth if you look at the fact that BJ Finney we talked about this right before we went on the air is believed to be an unrestricted free agent as well..

"Back what kind of deal are you offering him? This is a guy of thirty two. He might be. I don't know that for sure he's still he's an aging linemen. The one thing about foster for me is that he is always seems to be the guy that he's just not the athletic one. Even Villanueva's very athletic and now filers will different but markets Gilbert was athletic. We know David decastro athletic pounds. He's probably one of the most athletic centers in the National Football League. And so he's okay. We'll what do we want to do here? My prediction, and I wrote this in an article today is at the Steelers are going to. Really give him an offer. They'll probably say, look, you know, we don't expect an answer right away. Go and check free agency to get a better offer. We don't have we understand. This is our best offer that we can give you I would say as they maybe three year deal, but it's more like a two year deal. I think he does well for his physical capabilities. He's a big guy. He is certainly someone that can run block. Well, who will forget the the pancake of CJ Moseley a couple years ago against Baltimore at Heinz field. That's probably one of those highlight. Ramon foster plays there for I I just think that he's very serviceable. But the question I always ask is is he replaceable because David decastro, I guys not replaceable. I I'm not saying he's a generational talent. But you're not bringing up a BJ Finney and thinking he can do the job. Now, you do think that was Ramon foster at least I do that. Yeah. You bring a BJ Finney. He can get the job done. He can do what he does. He's actually more. I've let it than foster. So what foster might have from a mental standpoint fan. Vinnie might have more in terms of physicality. He's more of a road grader and things of that nature. You go to Villanueva Ozzy. What I thought he had a tremendous year there were there were a lot of people at the end of two thousand seventeen saying he's the weak link and when they saw chew Chor forget drafted they thought this guy's gonna push Alejandro Villanueva because villain wave didn't play. Well, when in reality I've been away too had a great bounceback season that no one is talking about I thought he'd protected well thought he run blocked. Well, I thought that he had a great great year. And it was great to see because the Steelers invested some money into him prior to two thousand seventeen it was good to see that kind of be paid back. On the football field. So as a lot of people in here talking about Ramon foster, they people want him back..
