You know, the stories or the matches, and there's a lot of there you go. I mean, I think that tells the story playing and so forth. Stories. Stories before the money is. And then you hope that the guys that you have involved in your stories and if they have helped nurture and contribute to, you hope then at the next phase is how they execute in the ring. And then he certainly hoped that they deliver in the ring as well as they did telling their story. It's got to be a package of fair, but the story comes first, and then following it up with the appropriate physicality of the ring is the next step. We should mention McMahon's going to do another interview talking about how he wasn't afraid of the federal government. He wasn't afraid of Turner and Tom Warner, which gets a big pop from the local crowd, and he's not afraid of Austin. It's all Austin and McMahon on this show, you can tell it's working whether you're breaking it down by just the total or the minute by minute or the quarter by quarter, these are the two biggest acts in the company at this point. It's crazy as that sounds, one of them being Vince McMahon. But this thread throughout just keeps people tuning in and it gives people a chance to call their friends, you know? A hundred is going to be hilariously ripping on legion of doom. Austin feels a little or Owen rather. It feels a little lost in the shuffle here. In hindsight, was that a missed opportunity on the heels of the screw job and all that? Oh, it should have been a bigger store, don't you think? I think so. Yeah, I think so. He could have carried the load, I don't know why he wasn't given the opportunity. You know, I don't know if it was some of those deals where it's like, well, you know, you held me up for money and I got a good contract. Your brother was a big pain in the ass. Blah, blah, blah. So here's where you are. You're in the middle of the card. To put Owen Hart with his amazing skills. In the middle of any card, is silly. It's illogical. So yeah, I think we missed the boat on that deal. Owen would have been should have been elevated more and had a bigger role. But unfortunately, that was not the case, and we missed an opportunity there. That question. Do you think Austin would have been hesitant to work with Owen because given their story a SummerSlam, it feels like he could have been a top contender for Austin. The story is right there, right? Oh yeah. You know, I've never heard Steve's never shared with me that he would not want to work with Owen for any reason. I've never heard that. Now, he may have felt that way and didn't want it to get in the locker room because he didn't want to be a turd. I don't know. But Steve's never indicated to me that he would not work with Owen. Look at both of them are healthy and Steve was looking for somebody in another sounds, what's the word I'm looking for crazy, I guess. Do you agree with me, Jim, that this might be the first major important Monday after mania? Yeah. Yeah. I think you're right. I think you're right. It's hard to say the most or whatever, but I think you can make a very valid point to Conrad. It's huge. And you know, look at this, our notes and it's just so good. A lot of guys are getting a chance to be stars. Getting a chance to be main eventers. You know, I don't remember what Billy Gunn and doctor my daddy was earning, or our Brian, the road dog. But I know their income went up hugely on because they were booked and their downside guarantee was wiped out quickly. I think both those guys won, I remember, I don't remember what year it was. And I always looked at that as success and a win for good old JR, because it let the talents make as much money as they could. And he hoped that they save, and prepare for the future, knowing that this run can not and will not last forever. You can't hardly tell the talent that because they just don't buy it. But bottom line is there's peaks of valleys. There's trends and the new age outlaws for what we needed at that time. They did a great job. No doubt they did, and let's talk about the reason that we're here. Austin McMahon, if you really go back, you got to probably go to September at 97. That's when Steve Austin is still recovering from being dropped on his head at SummerSlam 97. You're going to make your Madison Square Garden debut for Monday Night Raw. It's a big show. It's where we would see before the cameras turned on. Brett visit with Vince and Vince can't honor your contract pal. See if you can get that third Turner deal. We see the debut of cactus Jack in the WWF, but we also see Stone Cold Steve Austin, Stein, Vince McMahon. It's the first time we saw Vince and physicality like this since Brett pushed him down earlier in the year around WrestleMania season. But the idea that the chairman now, who we haven't really officially acknowledged too much on cameras being the boss, taking that stoner, then of course Austin gets escorted off to jail. Two months later, we see the whole Brent screwed Brett debacle in November of 1997, and that's when the real march for WrestleMania begins. Of course, we know two months after that, we have Mike Tyson come into the company. We have the face to face moment and Vince is furious on camera, and that's when it feels like, okay, we've got something here. Yeah. And that's January of 98. Now here we are in April of 98. We've got a backstory, but it's still feels illogical that you would have the boss, the former voice of the show, being the ring. Do you remember how do you remember first hearing about that creative and what was your response? That Vince is going to wrestle. Well, first I was surprised. Maybe I should say I was shocked. Because I knew that Vince would not engage in this endeavor, if he did not truly feel in his heart that he could pull it off. He was living his dream. That we finally got to be in the ring as a wrestler. And so, you know, I was shocked, I was surprised, as I mentioned, he surprised me even more of this performance. And he and to Austin's credit and misses credit, they worked together to pull it all in. But to me, it was a natural progression. It's exactly what you wanted if you felt like that the heel events was healthy enough and able to execute. And protect Austin, we got to remember, when I talk about events being the best heel to WWE, during that period, it was appealed to a period because it was all the preparation and the featuring whatever you want to use is all about Steve.

The tourists. So you don't haters that much, do you? Well, listen, I know it's part of the story here, and Austin's not kidding. Quote, there's widespread whispering behind the scenes that Austin pushed for mankind to be in the match so that Austin wouldn't have to do the JOB to hunter when he loses the title. The three way rules can be set up to where whoever scores the final pinfall becomes champion. If that's the scenario Austin pushes for, it doesn't do any favors for Triple H since by pending mankind instead of Austin, he will lose the road he would have gained from beating the actual champion to begin his reign. Who wrote this? Wade Keller. Oh, okay. The original plans for the next few months were Triple H to pen Steve Austin to capture the world title, and then Triple H would hold the title, perhaps until the Royal Rumble, at which point Austin would regain it in time to defend against big show at WrestleMania. Triple H would feud with mankind at first over the WWF title with management believing that mankind would be the opponent who would give hunter the best matches and interviews and thus the best chance to get him over as a legitimate main event. Meanwhile, Austin would have grudge matches at the September and October pay per views against Jeff Jarrett and Billy Gunn. It doesn't appear that the Austin Jarrett feud though will take place, Austin has outright told management he won't work a feud with Jeff jira until Jerry is moreover with the fans and the WWF set the stage for the Austin chair at feud over the last month or so with Jared calling out Austin over the house Mike and Austin giving jeer at several stunners. Austin, though, has since viewed vetoed a feud with Jarrett saying he isn't over enough to face him yet. And there are other thoughts that there is tension because Jarrett and Debra have been friends dating back to their WCW days. And Jarrett was responsible for getting the WWF to hire Deborah and now Austin is dating Deborah. Austin has also said he doesn't like Jarrett's in ring style. Because of alston's power and influence when it comes to his own storylines, it's almost a lock that the entire Jarrett feud won't happen and instead also move right into a feud with gun, whom he personally likes and thinks would be a good opponent for him. Man, there's a lot to unpack here as I like to say, but the whole idea of the rumor, because that's what it is. It's rumor in innuendo as Bruce would call it. Did Austin have a problem dropping the belt to hundred do you think here and adding on? No. Hey, this we're looking to do it. Look, if you're a great talent, like both hunter and Austin are. Then you want to present that conflict that match. In the most ideal scenario that you could possibly create. And that is much like Sean Michaels said earlier, there's no three ways, it's just, you know, Steve and I and that's what we should have gone and it's right call. And the same thing here. You know, nobody, you're building to a singles match, a major highly promoted singles match for the number one number one contender Triple H versus the champion stone cold. And I think that's the way to go with it. If you're going to showcase two great talents, as these two men are, then you want to do it in a single smash Conrad. In my opinion, just as an old school wrestling guy. Let's talk about the Austin Deborah relationship. Was it a headache for you? How do you hear about it? Was there some upsetting us in the locker room or guys griping a little bit here or there? I heard nobody grappling at all. Debra is such a likeable person. And the sweetheart of a lady. And a lot of us met her when she was married to Steve mcmichael. Right. Back in the day, as I say, you know, I think I first met her at WrestleMania ten. Wow. "The movie. I thought it was going to be a little too slow for him. Now he sat through the whole thing and loved it I think it brings like the essence of baseball and like what baseball means to a lot of people and kevin costner. It's like recreating that you can have these small little field and then have an enormous thing happened right in front of your eyes and obviously it was like a miracle would never you know dead. People can't come back and play baseball. Yeah it's not going to happen but it's cool. It's cool to watch a movie and the whole you know if you build it. They will come thing. It's amazing kevin. You're not going to get like a warm-up match is could be one match one match now obviously and television. You can show some video packages. And i guess going to be doing some matches on the screens and whatever but allegedly a one match show so that means this match is going to go a really long time and in fact it will be broken up by commercials and such now as far as the show this past wednesday. They do this through games. They throw out candy and stuff like that like their job. Keep the audience up to thirteen. So show comes back there at a high energy level. It's a really hard job too because you can't necessarily do stand up because you're starting in stopping necessarily know you're starting or stopping sometimes think you're going to have three minutes sometimes are like hey ravitz trouble with the mike. So just keep talking. Allan talk there are like fifty twenty thirty minutes like you don't know how long you're doing so just give us give i. I got a call to do. They need an audience. So now we started doing a match and it ended up with me doing the frogsplash off the top rope and the referee told me we're gonna do this. Run slides it counts one-two-three the place goes they're going crazy and whole cogan than light. Kohl's us up to the announcing booth where he's doing a brother you guys are like the wrecking crew out there. That was the greatest thing. And i have a picture with hogan on my desk and the look of joy on my face i cannot do okay just like it's so it's so happy it's funny you mention every we try to do that. We try to do that over here. We promoted. I and i know he wanted to incorporate comedy wrestling and we did a kind of the this thing where we stand up in a ring before they had a A meet and greet with billy gunn and faruk. The show is written like tv show very long when mind you but their matches their angles and essentially in sometime in the next year. So they're going to get a third hour. And i do not mean like. Aws going to be three hours long on wednesday wednesdays. We're gonna get another hour for at some point during the week on tnt or tbs so this is basically tony. Kahn's way of practicing writing another show every week as opposed to just a bunch of matches. It's like a bunch of dark matches. It means nothing so. He's already working in preparing when they get the next hour. So if you see angles on this show or storylines. It's nothing where you have to watch elevation like they shot an angle for the arcade match. But i mean it's not like if you didn't see the angle it matters at all i mean you can still watch. They got beat up again. It was it was just a it was nothing you needed to see but if you watched it you got a little something extra jon moxley. Be bill collier. This was also a fun match. Because you know jon. Moxley goes in there and he gets blown up thumb tacks. Barb wire brawling violence they went in there and They were less thatcher's. Jim did a wrestling match two in all sorts of wrestling and old school wrestling spots. And stuff you never. And you know we don't see a lot of that's the thing about the show if you watch dynamite and you're like man ever seen penelope ford have imagined like eight months.
