"Do you see any similarities with this team and those two teams in terms of the ability to perhaps maybe call themselves a champion or at least put themselves in the game in the series, basically what I'm saying is, is this team have the DNA based on, you know, you've covered this team all season. You know, how do you compare it to those teams that you cover? I think there's somewhere in between those two teams. And if I had to lean in one way or the other, I'd say they're probably closer to being Detroit like. Because Detroit had a shortened rotation too. And their rotation was primarily built around defense. I mean, they had defensive player to you just like the Celtics do. We've been Wallace. They got selfish at Marcus smart. You had guys who could score the ball in Detroit. Guys, like Chauncey billups and rip Hamilton. You've got jaylen Brown Jayson Tatum. You had wings who were more defensive oriented and were just kind of quasi role players, like a Derrick white. They had tayshaun prince. And to me, you know, one of the things that I find interesting is that you had a head coach who had total buy in by his players. Larry Brown got that from the guys in Detroit, email is getting there from the guys here. And that's what you have to have in order to compete for championship. It's not about who has the best team. It's who has the best buy in of what works, who understands what their role is and takes pride in that role of night at night out. Marcus smart, it's taking him a little bit of time to get to the point where he's more than just an elite defender. He's been wanting to run the team forever. But when you start looking at the guys he's played with, guys, like Isaiah Thomas, guys, like Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward. It's clear why you didn't have him in that role because those guys were better in that role. And Marcus was better, defender, better off the ball. So you understand that and you get that. But this team, the south they're kind of scary because they played two games where there's clear and undeniable areas of growth. They can get better. And they found ways to win both of those games. And they withstood they have been able to withstand the offensive onslaught of two of the most lethal scores in the game. Doc Rivers, when he was here, you used to talk about certain players are professional scores. And Harry Irving, professional score, Kevin Durant, absolute professional score. And yet the south have made them look very mortal. And they've made them look very, very moral. And that's something I did not expect to see that in the series. That's been my biggest shock so far. Not that the selfies are up to zero. I expected that. But the fact that Kevin and Kyrie have looked incredibly slightly above average because they're not. There's so much in that fourth quarter in game one..

"Way that mark used him and managed his minutes and still continues to manage his myths, it's just really interesting because there will be games afterwards where it's actually plays ten minutes. And it's all in the first half and he was like, yeah, he made that defensive mistake and I pulled him and he didn't because of that he's not good. He didn't get to play the rest of the game. You know? And with a lot of players, you think like, oh my gosh, what a jerk. That's not going to be good for their relationship. And you look at just watching those two on the sidelines, like Trey, came up from behind Mark last night and just put his arm around him at a time out and they're just like chatting. They have a good rapport. And so Mark is I think he understands what he needs out of his guys and how they're going to be successful and communicate that to him. He is communicated. He said that the only one of the only video sessions where he showed Trey video that wasn't of the thunder and he was like, I'm not going to tell you who the other, I'm not going to say who the other team was, but he said, I used another team. He's like, it was somebody just getting cooked on defense over and over and over again. Where it was a lead guard, basically calling for the switch for a particular player. Four possessions in a row. And he said, Trey, this could be you. That could be your career. And Trey is really taken to mark and Trey has really wanted to do what mark says and is becoming a successful player so far this season because of that. I mean, at the beginning of the season, Trey couldn't get separation from players, he was getting a shot blocked, defensively he was a mess. He wasn't ready to play in the NBA. He was a G league player. And now you watch him, and he is passing and creating space whenever he wants. And he's not a good defender, and he may never be a good defender, but he's at least in the right spot. He needs at least going to try. And those two things were going to possibly dictate his career, because you have to at least be in the right spot. And you have to at least if the ball is out there, grab it. Those are the things that Mark wants him to do. And so yeah, and how replicable it is with a marked signal. I think if teams are willing to take the time, like Sam is, and use your G league team to not only develop players but develop coaching talent, like sure. You could do it. But in just like a vacuum, like you're talking about like plucking a guy, an assistant coach off of a college roster. That doesn't happen. And you're at the a coach. Like that just doesn't happen. So I think it's more difficult. I think that that's why you see guys like Chauncey billups getting jobs..

"Money make their running into the same problem right now. But also the blazers are in this exceedingly challenging situation from a personnel perspective. And what I mean by that is the wizards are far from the worst roster in the league. I mean, they have to be lured, who is having a rough year, but it's an incredible talent. They have CJ and palli. They have a I would say they have a not a high playoff roster, but a play of calor. The challenge is that it is also an expensive roster with some important players in free agency soon. So where they go from here, how much latitude the next general manager has, but also, over the years, there are a lot of audience of one questions and typically refer to that as ownership. It's like, okay, does ownership really want to pay this player? But in many ways, this is also a deeply and audience of what question of what does he want for the rest of his career? What does he want for the next two to three years? Because if you want state port one more power to him. But if he wants to be somewhere else, well, that's something that the new, the new decision maker is going to have to make happen. Yeah, and I give Damian Lillard credit insofar as he has been pretty public in terms of how he's feeling. Like this summer, there were whispers. And he seemed like he was, you know, a little bit more open. Maybe, and then when the season started, he was like, no, look, there was a time in the summer where I was thinking about it, but now I'm fully committed, right? So as long as these days fully committed, you keep Damien Lillard because the odds of you finding a player like Damian Lillard again are exceedingly low. So look, like you mentioned the idea of like a coach firing or a coach firing and then the general manager, hiring coach. I bring it back to that just insofar as I get that the blazers may be felt like they didn't need to fire Neil Lil Shea and that he could be the long-term answer. So you let him make the decision to hire Chauncey billups, by the way, the hiring of Chauncey billups was extremely fraught. Due to allegations and Chauncey billups is passed of, I guess that they had to investigate a sexual assault situation. Memory serves at the very least. And then nil Shay decided to get very angry and frustrated during the press conference about very rightfully asked questions regarding their process for investigating those claims that happened back when Chauncey Phillips, I believe played for the Boston Celtics. Is that correctly? Is that correct? I believe so. As far as I recall, that's right. So all of that happens and after you decide to let me a little Shay make the Chauncey billups higher, you decide, then that you're going to investigate him for this toxic workplace. There's no way that this is new information for the blazers that Neil osha was running a workplace that might be seen by some as toxic, right?.

"Three that ended up being like a turnover for a touchdown for a wide open on the other end. And then we talked about the Billy ball, but Trevor feels like ran over a few times. And it just shows how far away he is because as much as we say that Trevor keels can't play that way. It's sort of the same for tie tie. Like you gotta be able to body up for a guy that's gonna be a stronger guard. If you're not a lot of stuff circulating on Twitter last week that ties the point guard, I don't know why people say it's a combo. I still see a combo. I don't think he's your main point guard. So if you're a combo in your garden twos and stronger guys like that in the NBA, you're gonna have to hold your brand. And that'll come with time. I just overall just a little bit underwhelming. I like them a lot at Arizona compass prep. I saw him play a lot. I didn't necessarily think right off the rip is a one and done lottery thing. I'm not running an office. This is one game one performance, freshman after we saw that in the first game we'll talk about in a minute, but just if he doesn't have that burst and jumpers out there, how else can you impact the game if you shoot two for 14 in the shot's not fallen? Yeah, you know that's kind of why like the name Chauncey billups has always stuck with me when scouts have had conversations with me about him. Right. Like they've brought up the idea of him being like more of a combo in the vein of chauncy Phillips where you probably want a second point guard out there with them, but yo, he can handle some of the load. Which is essentially what we're saying when you say combo guard. He does see the floor really well. He processes the game really, really well as a passer. I just wonder if the role is being rolled a little bit different than what his idealized role is here if he's going to be asked to do that. And you bring up the idea of who is who can take some of the load off of his hands I am surprised that Kentucky utilized Kellen Grady solely as a floor spacer in this game. Because you go back and you watch his tape at Davidson. Oh totally. Prep school. He definitely has more stuff off the bounce. And I was thinking the same exact thing. I don't want to say he's been relegated to it, but he was this floor spacer and he hit some big shots to kind of space things out and create those driving lanes for severe whaler. But he can do more and toward the end of the game and the run out of time. He played a little bit of catch up, but I think he missed like one runner, but he wasn't really called upon to self create and make really scoring options and opportunities for other players other than hey, catch and shoot stand over here and then just move and spread the floor out a little bit. Yeah. Let's go to some of the other guys here. Mark Williams had 5 points and 7 rebounds, but he was just a monster defensively..

"Howard, where the blazers have their own internal issues to deal with over the weekend the team confirmed that there is an internal investigation going on into blazers, general manager, Neil O'Shea, the investigation, centers around O'Shea, allegedly creating a hostile work environment. And I've been told that for the last roughly week or so investigators have been calling in members of the organization for interviews. They have been calling former staffers and coaches that work for that team to discuss how they were treated by O'Shea in the past. You know, I've got some thoughts on this myself, but give me your reaction to this investigation into Neil osha. The difficulty here Chris is that we don't really have any details yet. There's just a broad description of hostile work environment. And we don't know what that entails. We don't know how many people in sales we don't know what kind of behavior it allegedly entails. And so I'm going to withhold there's nothing to say with all judgment. There's nothing to judge. I don't know what we're I don't know what we're judging yet. I assume we will hear more in the days and weeks to come. Or maybe by the time we hear those details, maybe he'll already be out if it's that bad. And if their internal investigation. Discovers that things are that extreme, I had not heard any hint of anything like this in prior years. I had never gotten any sense that there was any trouble in Portland up until now the most pressure on Neil O'Shea with regard to his job with the blazers was whether or not he'd done enough to get Damien Lillard a championship level supporting cast. As a basketball matter, he was already, I think, under fire in some quarters. Obviously, the Chauncey billups higher was a notable flashpoint as well, a couple of months ago, but in terms of the way Neil oles runs the team..

"I think they're in that middle tier with upward mobility. Where you know. Maybe look at the clippers. You outline their middle cheer team. That may be has downward mobility. So that's kind of where they they fall for me. So yeah definitely so one thing we've even hit on that i think is probably the most important part of the blazers offseason is that they brought. Norman powell back I know a lot of people didn't like the deal. I don't really. I don't really love quibbling over money. Like i guess you can in some sense. Say that norm powell overpaid. I don't really necessarily agree. Like i think that's that's close to market value of what he would have gotten on and he was fantastic last year. I i get like you can look at it and say well you normally has up here and then down. You're like that has has been his career trajectory. But i think you really stabilize last year and improved in some ways especially offense figuring out his efficiency more. I will get him as the one guy who can really attack the basket on this team especially in the starting lineup. Dame's obviously great getting there and and creates havoc from there but in terms of a guy who you're you're counting gets to the rim and be incredibly good they're like norma's achaia especially coming off. Second side actions. I know to a lot of people who didn't watch portland down the stretch and didn't check in on some of the line of numbers and just knowing what was going on with the team. Like you look at other really funky regard lineup but it works like it was very good when mark was healthy against every single team for the most part. So how are you feeling about norm this year. Is there anything that you're kind of hoping to see or that. You think might be different from last year. Well i think first and foremost as far as the deal goes like if they didn't stein norm you're instantly taking a giant step zappers to start your off season as far as the deal goes. It's backloaded so they were able to really add a little more flexibility. The starter free agency. Yes they didn't maximize it but it did keep them out of hell when they're looking for a three point three team trade and all that other stuff Like you said. I think the three guard lineup. Yes it does look weird on paper but you have to remember norm. Powell has close to a seven foot. Wingspan six ten or something. He did a really good job. Frustrating michael porter junior in the postseason. He didn't look completely out of place against some of these bigger small forwards. So i think it's very important when you talk about. You know what he's able to do from that corner position because one thing that we've heard chauncey billups say over and over again when he is going over game tape like the clippers. Had this really excellent film series. That came out last year. Which i watched everyone that bills's involved with and he really talks about you know creating advantage by you know really making putting pressure on the back line of defenses. So you know you're gonna see nurk in those roles where he's gonna turn or larry nance junior and they're looking for that guy diving into the dunker spotlight said side. Actions and norm is excellent. Getting the ball quick in that situation and instantly making a decision and ninety nine percent of the time..

"He's gonna stay committed as long as he possibly can, I guess. Or at least for least another year because, you know, that IG post that he put up right after being eliminated. It's both volumes. I mean, obviously, they went out and got a brand new head coach and Chauncey billups and they're trying to, you know, clean things up and make this team as competitive as possible. But we all know max in one year, all that can change, right? One more season of this and maybe he's another first round second round exit. And he's thinking to himself, this is it. I need to get out of here. Well, you know, I've said that about him. You know, his ability to score the basketball. I've definitely said that. But also looking at Karl Anthony towns, who has never really won in this league. How long can a talented player like that be on the team? And the team's centrally sucks for years after years. And even if you look at Minnesota right now, there are people right now we'll see Minnesota his lottery bound again and that's where Carl Anthony towns who was one of the first was the first pick in the draft. And I think they've had a couple of other guys who are first high first round director. High round draft choices. I think he's another guy who's taking their first round. So one of those early picks he'd have to be tired after a while and said, I might want to get out of town. It's that time of the year in all eyes are now turning to football as teams are back on the gridiron for the start of the football season..

"Norman powell you're right because pow had them over a barrel because of what they traded to go and get him and now the question becomes will they run it back with some fringy tight moves. You know there's going to be a lot of guys out there. You know the the music stops and the money's gone there'll be signing cheaper deals that can certainly help but the place kind of did that. The last couple of years with some of the moves they made in previous off seasons. And i don't know what difference makers are going to be out there like they clearly want to get better on the defensive end. That's important so maybe you try to find some defensive-minded guys that are out there. You can plug in at wing positions but to me. It's either you trade. Cj mccollum for something substantial. Or you hope chauncey billups miracle worker. That's kind of what it when it comes down to. I mean and look neil. O'shea the gm they're kind of gave up signals that this was the coaching issues rather than roster issues. Now i think we both probably disagree with them. That there's some serious risk there but the press conference to announce the right after the firing of terry stotts i. He did say that. It seemed like he believed there. Were coaching issues more than roster issues there. So maybe believes that chauncey billups led team is going to be better defensively. it's gonna make them better overall. I just don't see it. I think that if you're if you're going to make a change it's going to have to evolve cj mccollum there's really no two ways around it. I agree and you know. Listen you'll shake and say it was more about coaching personnel. That's a somewhat self serving message for gm to provide fine. I don't think damian lillard probably sees it that way he set is much says much. I said i was listening to this conference. Call where he's like. Yeah i don't know how you can look at this roster and say as a championship roster. He's not wrong. Which is which is rough. But it's true so yeah. Clock is ticking clicking sticking more loudly today than it was last night and will continue to so. I'm very curious to see what happens next for the blazers. Because something's gotta move anybody your like your day to day three guys. You're looking at them and schroders an easy answer for this. Because he's probably one of the biggest names left on the market. Do you have anybody else out there. That you're i mean a couple of lingering things like i don't know if carmelo is a difference maker at this stage but mark stein reporting that it's bc's these look at the lakers and knicks stein. Also patty mills is picking between the warriors lakers and nets. I think mills is a really nice player to have on your bench for one of those teams who having an excellent excellent olympic cycle. Not that that matters. Because ricky rubio plays like an mvp in every olympics but excellent bush. Really these olympics. I think by the curiosities are more about guys. We're not free agents. It's more of weirdest kemba get rerouted. Where does ben simmons land were to. Cj mccollum land if cj mccollum doesn't lead anywhere. Does that mean that daimler instead doing somewhere because it means they couldn't do anything and by the way quite an extension yet..

"All Defense level ish defender in college in the Big 12 it's just kind of a no-brainer to me at the end of the day but we will see what the Pistons do at number one. And on top of that cake cutting off. Like it Elite level character, no matter who you talk to will say that he is just like absolutely pristine. And is such a great guy to have around in the locker room with such a great guy to walk around the Oklahoma State offices. It's hard to speak more glowingly about a person and a player than Katie Cunningham. There is just no real room for doubt. Our basically, I'm glad you got to wax poetically a little bit about him because my friends, even the kind of casual basketball fans, who tuned to the pilot to make fun of me. After the fact, they'll start off by. Let me. Guess you're gonna talk about cake him today. Is it actually? No, I'm not saying we'll talk about him today. He should be the one that heaps, Praise on him for, for the next hour or so. Yeah, no, I think that that's right. Kate Kate is a nice hot tank, okay. Matthew Penny, you're up at number two, who are you going to say from the Houston Rockets? This is where the conversation starts a lot for me. Anyway, I'm going to go for the Houston Rockets with Jaylen Brown. Premium about Jalen, Jalen green, I see him still as a star-in-the-making score, from the wing position, high-level athletes emerging playmaker in the half-court. I really believe the defense is a get there. Maybe we talked about Katie Cunningham, as an extremely high floor, General Greene. Could maybe have the high ceiling in the draft if he can put it all together and we can split hairs about Evan Mobley. But there there's some similarity in terms of what levels they could reach you mentioned a little bit in your team needs article. One of the the million that you're pumping out here as we reach our last week before the draft. This is the best available type pick for Houston office despite what glaring needs. Maybe you can't worry positionally when you have a player of jail and greens magnitude on the board that you can select you know they agree. I think that's reasonable. I would take Jaylon personally. It was funny. Someone was having a conversation with someone and they brought up Kevin O'Connor. Who again, does great work. I really appreciate. Kevin wage. They brought up who Kevin had comped Jalen green and Jalen Suggs to write and he comped Jalen green. So like Zach LaVine and Bradley Beal and someone else in many comped Jalen Suggs to Chauncey Billups and Brandon Roy and Jamal Murray I think we're the three and he basically took like wait if you think that Chauncey Billups Brandon Roy and Jamal Murray or the cops for Jalen Suggs, do you think exactly and Bradley Beal are the Cubs for Jalen green? Why do you have Jalen blow? Jalen green was kind of a person's like tank and that's kind of what I've been thinking. The whole year, I actually agree with those cops quite a bit in terms of like Kevin in his process in terms of like who he who he has compared these great prospects to. I would just rather have the dog. Chauncey Billups Brandon Roy kind of guy, then the Bradley Beal. Zach, LaVine guy, I think that the Chauncey Billups Brandon Roy guy tends to translate to winning more at the NBA legs especially given that Jalen sucks is like a much much better passer and Defender than Jalen green. I think that guy translates to winning a little bit more in the NBA. Personally, even if the Zach LaVine, Brad, laas guy tends to get like the All-Star accolades the, you know, the notoriety everything like that agree. I heard Jalen Suggs, second on my board..

Lot of larry brown in both rick. Pitino in jason kidd in terms of these guys fall in love in and outta love with these players very quickly and i want him. I want him. I want him give me him. Get me here to get him. They get they get a bear and it's like well. I'm a woman anymore. Wait a minute. we're going ball to the wall. The trying to get this guy we bring them over now. You don't want him anymore. What's up instance jason kidd. Any michael michael carter williams give me michael carter williams any michael carter williams okay. He got michael. Carter williams then like fifteen minutes later. He's like you know what he can't play. Screw them get rid of him like what komo making kind of hartford for the work with each other. Then team officials were the bucks. I mean you know he would. Jason kidd was very demanding old school style above coach. And the you know the grinding the negativity know the lack of pat on the back you can bark and yell and in Belittle in all those type of things and then when the player do right say well. Why should i give you a high five or seven on the back burner supposed to be doing so..

"Clearly has not on-court stuff for some for. Some reason is not holding back from being job in this. Hasn't either and looking billups. Who like the his rookie year. Which is one that this case happened in. Nineteen ninety seven nine hundred ninety eight miss two games and they were due to injury. They were not because of any awkward issues like a again. The fact that that none of this is getting brought up like it's been a little bit more apparent with kid but part of that is because it happened so many times like it had the happen like multiple times and have his his pictures. Come up in newspapers. Because he's getting arrested for shit like and that's i don't i don't know what the answer is on second chances but it's just like i. I don't think that i can come out and say l. Especially after listening to the press conference yesterday. And i have no idea how jason kidd's press conference is going to go but Like how am i supposed to like. How are we supposed to feel all like these guys are. Quote unquote rehabilitated. Or in a place where i can comfortably say yeah. You deserve a second chance of this. A lot to say about that First of all you're talking about with with specifically with chauncey. You're talking about someone who has been on a coaching staff for all of one year for someone to get a position as a head coach of a team with arguably a superstar with in dame After having one year as a as an assistant coach that if it's not a common thing So and it's not like he was doing a job as a head coach. This is not something that was taken from him. had they not given him this job. It wouldn't have been something that he lost a job or lost out on his current job. it's not something he was owed and not only that but you're talking about a high profile million of dollars position you're not talking about someone not being able to work or earn a living for their family. Nobody's saying this guy shouldn't have job. Nobody's saying this guy shouldn't have or or kid or whoever were talking about in this instance. Nobody's saying many of these people shouldn't be allowed to work I would go. As far as even say they they. I don't know that that you say they can't work in basketball. But i think putting them in a position where they're up front and center in a high profile position where they're essentially a face of a franchise. They're constantly speaking on behalf of the team. They're responsible for the the accountability of of the team of the players. You're putting them in a position of power and authority. And if you're going to do that when there's something like this in the past you need to show why they are qualified for that. After having this going on and and i think that that's hardware where i've struggled so much after this press conference is exactly like you said like the this wasn't shown i was. I would have loved for him to come an end to his credit. He seemed like he was ready to answer things and they cut him off which was very frustrating but i would have loved to have him. Come out there and say listen. Something happened in nineteen ninety seven. We obviously there were sexual acts. That took place I believed them to be consensual. She did not we have two different perspectives on this but regardless i did something that caused her hurt. I caused her pain. And i'm sorry for that and these are the These are the steps..

"Radio line up in the greater radio affiliates on I Heart radio poll question. Mick 11. Did the Clippers have a good postseason? I put it that way, 52% said. Yes, so it's getting close to 50 50. Yeah, I thought that they did. You know what they did without co I Leonard. The only part of this is what happens as this team moves on next year. What do they add? Who do they add? Because I do think they need another piece here, and it's not easy to do that. It's like when we look at the Lakers And there's going to be conversation about Can the Lakers get Damian Lillard? Well, Don't know how you get him. Are you trading Dennis Shrewder and Kyle Kuzma and what? Like if you're Portland unless Damian Lillard makes it uncomfortable and says, I want out And you got him signed up for what? Four more years. Big contract. I think the likelihood of him going to Los Angeles very, very, very small. If he wants to be traded. If I'm Portland, I want him out of the West. And that means you look at the Philadelphia 76 ers. But I I I don't want to see Damian Lillard on a steady basis if I'm Portland, and I'm going to trade him and keep him in the Western Conference. I don't want that. But you know, we keep everybody brings up Ben Simmons. Well, if I'm Portland, do I want Ben Simmons? For Damian Lillard. And I got to have more than that. You know, there's a recent report where somebody who is close to Ben Simmons says he's broken like I don't want to. I got Chauncey Billups coming in already under, you know controversy. A dark cloud, and then I'm going to bring in a guy who is broken. I don't think I want to start my coaching tenure that way with a broken player. And if I'm Philadelphia, I could get Damian Lillard. Absolutely. But I just don't think it would be that easy. And then you always hear the Knicks, you know, with the next be okay. That's for clicks. I mean, who.

"Hired Chauncey Billups is their next head coach. Billups has been an assistant with the Clippers since 2020 and played in the NBA from 1997 through 2014, making five All Star teams and winning the finals MVP with the 2004 Detroit Pistons championship team. Blazers fired Terry Stotts after finishing 42 30 and losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Denver Nuggets.

"I don't know a lot about him. So I've been trying to, you know, approves the internet a little bit, try and find out more about him and his coaching style and where he's coming to find out the San Antonio tree is not too far away from him. Is there a favorite candidate that that you've been able to kind of? Look at, look at Lance. Didn't say yeah, that's the guy. I think it makes the most sense for this Celtics team. Well, there, there are some candidates like, like, Amedeo kahoot. I don't really know, but they're a lot of other candidates I've spoken to over the edge sometimes a lot. So, Again, not knowing that like there. Maybe you don't know maybe the guy that that is in r as mine and but the two people again, not offering everything here to know, there may be a better candidate than one of the two. I'm going to mention, but the two that I think is the Celtics came away with either of them they'd be in a real situation and trying to see Billups would be one of them. This, this is a thoughtful guy. This is a bright guy who understands that game and understands of perception and situations because let's face it when you're the head coach. And you're speaking every day, you know, sometimes it around pre-game post-game, everything you say is going to get passed in the media by fans talk radio, all that stuff. So someone like a dog. Phillips, you know, the, the the gravitas that he has with his experience. I think he'd be a great choice, and I think he's a really hot candidate around the league, I think, if he wants to be a head coach next season, you will be a head coach in the NBA. The other person that I I would put with many of the similar qualities, and this would be a going bold move would be lost. And that's not just from the conversations I've had with her. I did a story about her when she first came in, we were in. I remember talking to her in Las Vegas for some time, but.

Boston Celtics: Becky Hammon and Kara Lawson Are Ideal HC Fits

"The celtics per soccer practice facility in boston this billboard went up campaigning for becky hammon or terra lawson to be the next head coach again. Keira has worked on the celtics staff. She is just fantastic. Monico who do you think is the best bit to code the celtics. I don't necessarily have a name yet right. Although i liked the connection that care has but i have three cs. Candidates should have they've got to be able to connect with this squad. They got to be creative in the offense and the talents of these guys and they've obviously got to be able to convert in terms of everything that they're doing practice. I'm behind the scenes. Has the translate on the basketball court. Care i kind of liked that idea so this answer. I am no way shape before trying to take this coach away from the current currency. Which is nate. Mcmillan from. The atlanta hawks. Because i think the hawks likely will try to keep him. But i think what mcmillan has proven and shown what he can do with trae young. Just imagine what he could do. Because he's defensive money he has all the pieces. He has all the young talent offensively. Mcmillan would be good candidates as well as becky hammon. I think hammond that she can handle a team. I think she won the something. Many years back spurs obviously and she took control. That team did a great job. So i mean. I think there's some great candidates out there ought always chauncey billups after-sale. Who's put his time in as well. But i think make is showing that he can handle superstars and and take them to the next level. If the hawks don't take him snatching maybe it's up

"It's getting to be a wild time and watching all these playoff games. Avs back added tonight. So we'll see that that game's got a lot of intrigue or that series. It's got a lot of intrigue to it as well News poured out nationally boston. Celtics president danny aines retires coach. Brad stevens takes over as the as the president. So now they're looking out for the next head coach and a former colorado buffalo chauncey billips name coming up as one of the top perhaps contenders to take that job. Mark johnson the voice of the colorado buffaloes joining us and mark. I know you weren't calling gains. Chauncey was there but you certainly know buffs history more so than perhaps anybody. How do you think he'd fair as as a head coach in the nba. Well well he's. He's a sharp guy. Obviously he knows play basketball and one thing. That's kind of interesting brady about what's happening in particular in the nba. Is we have seen a shift. Where coaches came from the coaching ladder. You started out as a student manager many cases or a director of basketball operations. You did a lot of scouting then. You got yourself into assistant coaching and you moved down. That's kinda changed in recent years. Where guys are getting jobs. That don't necessarily have a long resume of of coaching in the nba. And so you're seeing that more frequently and so I listen. I think trance be obviously knows the game very well and he's got phenomenal instincts in the game of basketball. That's why he was such a fantastic player. And so i think he'd fare very well. In that regard he's got in connection with some of the players on that celtics roster and so. I think there might be a pretty good chance. He's been rumored now the last really year year and a half is being a guy that was being looked at and prepared to be a head coach and so. I think it'll probably happen pretty soon. And what do you think about. Like i always think mark great passers excellent point guards floor generals however you want to our. Do you want to call it. I always think those is in again. That's based on zero knowledge of what they might do as a coach. But just if you're on the outside looking in. I always think those kind of players floor generals would be kind of an easy transition to the head coach mode. Well yeah. I think they understand the game you know. It's like an in baseball for example. If you ever noticed that that catchers many times make very good managers become in the game of baseball. They're the guys that are working with the pitchers there watching the defense. They're the ones that are really thinking. The game baseball more than the guy who's out in centerfield or playing third base. Whatever it might be In basketball the point guards guy that does that..

"This seems like a big PR move by bears Do Payson idea. Nickname. This team is called bears Eat. What is joke? I'm serious. I mean, this man has been coached and a head coach position. You see what happened with the 40 Niners? You're going to give this man Let's see. I got old. I just got an email hold on. I got an email from a na Minnis poster. Whoa! Let me read this to you guys all Max the cast it we need a fixed it. The fans are Yes. Look I know, I know. Okay. Here, let's do this. Let's good, familiar face from the past that will calm the fans down. They will start remembering the Super Bowl shuffle and I'm sure things will be fixed for a while. At your pace. You should be cheap. Hey. Mm Billups, do it or you're fired. Pace. Based on the heady mosey. Oh, my God! Come on, guys. No real quick. The whole act the whole role play thing. I'm not Listen, I'm not going down that same avenue again. I will not feel the shame that again that if you know what's gonna happen, here's what's gonna happen They're going to hire Singletary is their defensive coordinator neg. He's going to get blown out with their next losing streak, and it's gonna happen. It's happened the last couple of years in guess who's going to be the air? Um, coach of your Chicago Bears and 2021. I'm not playing your game. I don't know what that Mike would do to come fans and at the team store, you know, pants will be half off. I don't. I don't get it. I don't know. I think one of his last coaching jobs was under Jeff Fisher in the NFL. Now show yourself out of dollar. Where were you just got that now? That was great. No, I was letting I was just I was giving him the evil eye for a while, Um I think his last coaching job was he was like a defensive adviser for Jeff Fisher. So I guess he does fit on 18 8 teams. I'm not taking the bait. Move along. Move along. Move along. Move money Can I get what are we arguing? And I want to bring this up next, so the bulls are off for the bulls to a pretty good start. They've lost some games. Maybe they should have won in the end. But ever since those first couple games of the season, they've been fun to watch, and they've been in every single game down the stretch. They currently have a two game win streak, and their best player is one of the most debated players in the NBA. And my question is why We'll have that debate. Next. Have the 'Bad Boys' Pistons been overlooked in NBA history?

"Had a great relationship that you're going to bring some of the stuff that you when you cover the bad boys the Pistons. Yes, your relationship. Someone will break horn and those guys in that area some new insight because now we're especially with the day of covet we're supposed to live through the past and you know the big dance the last dance with with Michael was such a huge thing that happened. The Pistons were right in the middle or at the end of the beginning or the ending of where Michael started. Yeah. Yeah, and and and for me, you know, I I was around that team at a time when they took the Pinnacle of NBA greatness. And so there are lots of stories that you know, I have stored away. I mean like when I was there when they won the title in 2004 would rip Hamilton and Chauncey Billups and all those guys and they were little things that they did that people didn't realize played a role in winning a title things like Larry Brown, for example, the first play of every single game if they went to jail ball was get that damn ball to Ben Wallace and let him go to work because big fella knew he wasn't touching the rock much at all if at all after that, so they made a point of getting him the ball first possession every single time. They got the ball in office and they just cleared out and let him go to work and if he scored great if he didn't we gave you a shot. It's little things like that that helped them build team. Chemistry and bonding and Trust knowing that hey going to get you twenty-five Thirty points, but if you don't do the big fella bone and you going to get you 15 Reba, I don't know any other brothers often times. I can think of that had developed that kind of chemistry and I was on the championship teams. We liked each other but with those pills like those dudes would suck blood brothers. Like, you know, it's like the way they think the way they perform it was like bad boys in the years that bad boys for life like that movie that's just seemed like the way they were
