Takeaways from the NYT report on Trump's tax returns
"Never give a tax return when being audited. They're extremely complex people wouldn't understand him now the house goes and such defending they WANNA know every deal. I've ever done since declaring his candidacy for President Donald? Trump. Has refused to share his tax returns and gone to court to stop them being released. On Sunday The New York Times published an investigation into more than twenty years worth of Mr Trump's taxes, but not the documents behind them to protect its sources. The New York Times an explosive report despite receiving over four hundred, million dollars through two thousand eighteen report showed he paid paltry amounts of federal tax in recent years. The report claims that Mr Trump paid remarkably little tax since the turn of the Millennium. It suggests that many of the president's businesses are chronically loss-making. and it puts numbers to just how deeply personally indebted the president is. The revelations prompted a familiar retorted. News it's totally fake news made up fake. We went through the same store as you could ask me the same questions for years ago had a litigated this and talk about it. They are the same questions questions that arose in the presidential debates between Mr Trump and Hillary Clinton almost exactly for years ago maybe he doesn't want the American people. All of you watching tonight to know that he's paid nothing in federal taxes because trump's rebuttal at the time that makes me smart smart. Tonight another set of presidential debates this time between Mr Trump and Joe Biden. It seems certain that once again, Mr Trump's accounting practices will figure into the discussion. The big headline takeaways on that he paid. No federal income tax whatsoever intended the fifteen years through two, thousand seventeen and in twenty sixteen seventeen the year that he ran for the presidency his first year old in the presidency he paid any seven hundred fifty dollars in federal Income Tax James. Ashville economists, Washington bureau chief. His company's myriad companies were making truly enormous losses over these years. Presidents companies have been losing hundreds of millions of dollars. He's heavily indebted at the same time, and the the record also show us that hundreds of millions of debt. In fact, around four hundred millions of data he's personally on the hook for his liable to fall due mostly within the next couple of years. So it creates a picture of a heavily heavily indebted loss-making businessman on a truly Gargantuan scale who's been paying little or no federal income tax and has serious debt worries ahead of him as he faces a cash crunch meanwhile. But how can it be? He's paid. So little tax over all of that time. I guess two main ways one is that he appears to be setting a large amount of personal family expenditure against his business revenues. For example, he is setting his family home expenses, his plane expenses, even his apparently also colossal head writing expenses against VAT revenue but by far, the biggest means that he's avoiding paying large amounts of tax walls taking in hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue is by setting those revenues against the enormous losses that he's making overall to give you just some taste of the scale of that loss making it. Seems that the president has lost more than three, hundred, million dollars since the turn of the century on his golf courses alone he's lost more than fifty five, million dollars on his Washington DC hotel, which has become a sort of symbol for trump world of the president's firm hold on the capital, and yet it seems it's losing money hand over fist, and all of that is above board. He may already been some difficulty over the scale of losses that he's claiming to set against his revenues. The long trailed audit that his tax affairs. From the IRS we learn relate to attacks refunded that he received decade or so ago of seventy-three million dollars related, it appears to loss-making casinos in Atlantic city a business that he walked away from though we don't know it appears that there is an least an allegation or suspicion that he may have profited from those casinos even as he walked away from. Them if that is the case, he's not liable that tax refund that tax refund plus subsequent interest would now mean a hundred million dollar bill for the president. From the IRS, are you yourself surprised I mean that the president has been fighting so hard to keep this under wraps I just wonder how much you're surprised by what you see in these files. I don't think we're surprised by any of this. We already knew something of the scale of the president's loss-making. He declared a loss of nearly a billion dollars back in the ninety s sufficient to avoid paying any federal income tax for around a couple of decades that was in the sense is remarkable as anything that we've learned from this latest enormous cache of additional detail. But there are a couple of really significant scoops and then the fact that he could be on the. Hook for so much money from the IRS. If the audit goes against him in the fact that he's personally liable for so many hundreds of millions of dollars of loan that will fall due in the next few years. That also is a very significant detail in for those that worry that the president may be compromised that his indebtedness could lead him to make judgements that the American people might have calls to question for those worries. This is I think sort of additionally inflaming. But I mean the picture that emerges here regardless of the creativity of the accounting is somebody who is not running businesses very well. So. Donald Trump entered politics back in twenty fifteen claiming to things that he would bring his business genius to the Serbs the American people make government work better, and that he would sort of right the wrongs that lofty elite were habitually visiting upon the hardworking vulnerable American people and I think the of broad takeaway from this trove of tax information is either Donald Trump is an absolutely appalling businessman in which case is I claim is hard to support or he's bilking the treasury of millions of dollars of avoided tax that he should be paying in which case his second contention is also rather heart support. And do you think either I if either can be parched or or stood up, we'll have any influence on the election on the debates this week. Let's let's break that down Jason I. Think this is not going to be a sort of major vote moving scandal. We've had equivalent scandals that have that have not moved the president's support up or down much a tool and I. think there's no reason to expect this to do so and yet it's significant significant. Because the president opinion polls consistently tell us is substantially behind Joe Biden in this race with only little more than a month to go before the election. What this does is put yet another hurdle in front of his trying to re come on the news cycle get on the front foot, take the attack to Mr Biden nine. We may see some of that in the first presidential debate tonight where Joe Biden has really been handed the script by the New York Times as it of opening attack on a president who loses so much money in his business of as pays such little taxes and result.

Trump paid $750 in US income taxes in 2016, 2017: NY Times report
"Of us have not been able to sleep Because the IRS has been on our case. I've certainly been in that situation. I had to pay back taxes have to a very divisive divorce with child support all kinds of tabloid headlines. The IRS was on my jock strap. Think of the tune of about $35,000. I had to continue to chip away at that. And as one Johnny Legit always told me Make sure the one bill you pay before any other. If you have depleted resource is at that time is the IRS because they can be relentless. In fact, as a worker will call up your HR and they will garnish your wage. Yes. Why? Mongol Lucia, That is not what you get on a plate. When you have out to a timing with that little stake that they charge you reverse mortgage for and then they put that little green leafy vegetable on the side. They say that's the garnish. No. They can be relentless. So now with the release of information procured Sound off was illegal. Legal, Whatever, I I don't know how they got the information. But the New York Times released it in my mind is pretty much what we already knew about the president from the first time he ran. I'll never forget he got up on that stage. And he said, Yeah, I declared chapter 11 5 times because It is what you can do legally when you're having fiscal problems, and I remember I was blown away by that What you convict play chapter 11 5 times and he did. And he spoke about it. Said how he used the system will now, according to The New York Times, Donald Trump paid $750 in federal income tax is, uh, both in 2016 and in 2017 and no income tax in 10 of the previous 15 years. He reported losing Mohr than he made in that time. These men and I are s battle over $72 million, said he got us a tax refund. This is led to and this is what doesn't sound right? A 10 year audit in that process. It's got to be finished sometime. We now know he owns hundreds of million dollars in assets. The Apprentice earned him about $200 million. His endorsement naming rights and licensing deals earned him another $230 million investments in other people's business is earned him about $200 million, But he lost a billion dollars in the 19 nineties, and most of that was on his golf properties like Dorel. Down in Miami. That one alone he lost $160 million so he made and he lost. And Apparently, there's $300 million in loans that will be due soon. What I was interested in it's at least in this account from the New York Times, No money from Russia. Did you hear that? That's right, Justin. Ah, no money came in from Russia Any of his assets already talked about money that he got from licensing deals in close it. Has cheeky son. Many son. I don't know. He's one of those stones. Then it was Turkey anchor a few other locations and normally I think normally I stand to be corrected. I'm not an accountant. I haven't worked for the I R s, but I've had my stones busted by the IRS. Normally you pay about 24%. In federal income taxes so already Already team Biden Has put out shirts and bumper stickers that say I paid more in taxes and trump and this whole place to his campaign of saying, Hey, I represents Quentin. And Donald Trump represents the rich. The wealthy in Park Avenue.

What happened to him in his childhood? You interview all kinds of people. How did how did this come around? How did this project come around? And what do you think about your experience doing it? It was a great experience, You know? Listen, I don't want to be involved with something that was just capitalizing on the success of the Netflix series. I want to come at it from a different perspective. And, you know, I think from an investigator's point of view, and from what I know our viewers, and I'd like to watch its how the mind works. Why a criminal becomes a criminal, and that's the perspective we took here. Why Joe dot in the way he is so This is kind of a prequel. To the Netflix special. We dive into Joe exotic childhood. His life as a young adult. And how he became the person we know. Today, I tell your king. At one point, there were a bunch of families sitting on the other side of the glass, all pointing at their little babies and the bastard. That's that one's mind at that point, he doesn't have a mullet, and he's not thinking about killing Carol Baskin so and there are people in life l they'll try to point to what changed them. I moved to a different neighborhood. Then I fell in with the wrong crowd and got into drugs. There's always some little apex and little point where life goes the other way. With with Joe Exotic is there like one thing one trigger. You could point you that said, Okay, This is what did it to him. You know, Listen, I'm not a psychologist. But if I had to say for me personally, what I thought was kind of a crossroads where he went wrong way was that is he had a he had a brother, who was really into an apple. They open their store together and Unfortunately, his brother was tragically killed in a drunk driving car accident, and I think that his brother's not only served as like a role model, but also somebody kept Joe on the right path. And as soon as he was no longer there Obviously, the traumatic, you know, Event itself really shook Joe, but also when those future decisions came up after his brother's death, instead of going the right way, he went the long way. And it was just a trickle effect. Where, you know, one bad decision led to three more And I think that was really the moment where Joe lost his way because he lost that role model that he could confide in and look up to Tonight, Joe Exotic Before he was King premieres on investigation, Discovery and such a great channel about second and not again and programming. It's just so compelling, and tonight we're going to be looking at where you are, and it's in depth interviews, even one of his husband's you interview on this law enforcement on and on. It's an end depth. Look at what made Joe exotic Joe exotic in a skin a sub Early days. It really wait, try to take it from a deeper dies. It's Joe exotic from the Netflix special covered really answered the question. How and why he became the way he is today and listen throughout the episode. There's going to be moments where you feel bad for Joe, and there's going to be moments when you're really angry with him, and that's that's intentional week. It's okay to feel bad for someone because of what they experience and it's also okay to feel bad for them. But understand that they're where they should be. Which in this case is in prison, So you know that's that's what we're hoping to achieve here tonight. Well, I can't. I can't wait to watch this. And here's what I'm wondering. When this tiger king came out it was right. It could have been timed better. Derek, listen was right. A cove in 19. Everyone was starved for something to do or watch because we were stuck in our homes and people. Benj, watch this over and over. It was a time It was the topic of our show almost every single day. But with them said he always had accusations that Carol Baskin had killed her first husband. He even went as far to say he fed her to the Tigers. If I've got to think that this special is going to be a huge success, are there already talks in another special where you might be able to look into Carol basket as well? I know there's investigators doing that, in fact, is a special tonight before our special called Tigers. Lies. I don't know the name. I apologize, but it's radar is on right before ours, And it's an investigator that looks into whether or not Carol basket could have been. Responsible for the death of Don Luis and what that means for Joe exotic. So that's something you're into making tonight. Grab some food have. Ah, sit down and tune in for both things were back to back talking with Derek Lava, sir. When you when you watch that show, it's like these can't be real people. Each person is more bizarre and fascinating than than the last one. You talked to give us a couple of people We didn't see maybe on Tiger King that you talked to for this special that are really unique and interesting. Well, you're going to get Ah, I think the biggest one that you're going to hear have is ah phone interview with Joe, exotic ex husband, the one who was actually stood over his bed and put the put the gun in Joe exotic face. He's also in prison right now for murder, and he shed some light on the relationship between him and Joe, but also some of the things that were going on a far polygamy and you know, you know, sex and drugs and I think that you know, the people who visited the do the do did not know about. They did not see from Joe when he came out, put on his whole, you know, show Part of what intrigues me so much about this special is when the Tiger King special the Siri's ended on Netflix it seriously left. Just start for more. Tonight on investigation Discovery. We kind of get that MME Orb because they tried to do a special was mostly zooms and this and that, But tonight there's actually uncovered footage and home movies. Photos that you guys have acquired and that's going to be shown as well. Is that correct? That's correct. It's not going to be just a rehash of the Netflix special. Like I said before, it's the prequel to the Netflix special. So if you enjoyed Tiger King, and you're looking for a little bit more of an in depth perspective of Who Joe is because that's really what we focus on then then this is probably something you should check out. I probably don't want to know the answer to this. They did a pretty good job of hiding any potential animal abuse and the show was that a part of his life, though 100% 1000%, and that's that's why I am part of this is well. This man was responsible for the killing of at least five innocent tigers and himself at court admitted that there were many more and I really hope that when this is all said and done, 10 15 years from now what we remember about this whole Tiger King phenomenon. Is that it was the start off the end of, you know, exploitation and killing of tigers and also that don lose his family get the closure they deserve and find out what happened to their father. If that's what ultimately comes from all of this, you know chaos. And I'm all for it. I hope it's just not for, you know, 15 minutes of fame for Joe and Carol. No,
Bill Barnwell on NFL Undefeated Teams + Monday Preview
"Bill Barnwell. It is late Sunday night almost midnight, which means it's time for you to make me smarter about the NFL. I'm going to try my best Baba Bill. Barnwell is a senior writer for ESPN host of the Bill Barnwell show and he's procrastinating his deadline to talk to me. So we just watched the saints and the packers on Sunday night football and the saints lost without. Their Star Receiver Michael Thomas. But that did not stop us from getting a whole bunch of touchdowns drew brees and Aaron Rodgers. Each threw for three a piece. But in the end, the packers won the saints lost and they've now lost New Orleans says back to back games for the first time since two thousand, seventeen bill I know you are writing a new piece about drew brees coming off of the two year deal that drew brees signed in the offseason and what we've now seen from him through these first three weeks what did you see in Sunday night's games he regressing improving? What do we have with bruise right now? Okay. So public drew brees definitely improving this is a better performance from him. Me brees was downright bad on Monday night in week two against the raiders before we got to garbage time and breeze didn't do deep very frequently until this game was out of hand but I think the concerns i. have read or have heard about arm strength or how deep is passes typically go they don't really get how reason this offense actually worked. Breezes sort of like. A singles hitter in baseball like Tony Gwynn lagging time where a post player with no range in basketball he's not going to suddenly start throwing deeply. He's Patrick Mahomes at forty one years old breeze has succeeded. Over the last three years while throwing the shortest paths in the League because he's posted the three best single season completion. In NFL history. Now. The good news for the Saints Good News For Saints Fans is that brees was much more accurate on Sunday night it was twenty, nine, thirty, six for two, hundred, eighty, eight yards a lot of that West Alvin Kamara who did a lot of the work but still going to end up thirty six is still better than where brees was. The bad news was just about everything else. The Saints Lost Starters Jared Cook and Andres P to injuries while devante. Adams List Aaron Rodgers threw for two hundred, eighty, three yards and those three touchdowns you mentioned. The saints focused on adding veterans with nicknames Emmanuel Sanders and balcony. Jenkins this off season. But. Sanders hasn't been able to stand out with ankle Thomas Injured and Jenkins has been picked apart in pass coverage including Mercedes Lewis touchdown on Sunday night the attorney for more accurate breeze that was a bright spot. But if the saints continue to struggle with injuries and get disappointing play from their stars, the Orleans is going to need this version of free stick around to have a chance to compete in the NFC. So the packers emerged three no, and that's where a lot of focus the rest of our conversation here on the teams that are now undefeated through three weeks of the NFL season. So bill, let's push deeper into the NFC here because the Chicago Bears Be Chicago bears are somehow three you know and they do it by beating the Falcons thirty to twenty six Chicago was trailing by sixteen head coach. Matt Nagy Decides to pull quarterback Mitch Trubisky in favor of the veteran nick foles mister big bleep nick himself who goes on to throw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. So I have a two part question for you now. Why are the Falcons physically incapable of holding onto a fourth quarter lead and? Secondly, where does this leave the whole quarterback situation in Chicago? Let me answer the second part of that question I. The bears are going to flail by the seat of their pants for the rest of the season I would assume that nick foles is going to start until he struggles and the bears trailing by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter a couple weeks from now, I would point Mitch Trubisky will come in and lead them to victory and the cycle will start the new. Unfortunately I don't have one simple takeaway for our poor friends and Atlantic. Is Different From what we saw in week to as. Much. As the defense was disappointing in this game, the offense really deserves a fair chunk of the blame for what happened scored a touchdown on the opening drive third quarter, and then basically tried to sit on their lead, Matt Ryan and company REPA- total three first downs on their next six is before the bears took the lead back and the only scored one field goal over that time after bisky intercession back running back Brian L. dropped an easy third down conversion which would have put the Falcons and field goal range. Then on the next drive kicker, young coup miss a forty eight yard field goal attempt. I know. I mean let's be fair. The Falcons defense was very bad. I'm not sure the Falcons are gonNA make any drastic changes on Monday morning, but Arthur blank can feel great about seeing this happen. On his seventy eighth birthday and. I believe I'm not mistaken not the only person celebrating birthday on Sunday. Having Birthday Pamela. Day Pablo. Yeah this is a hard way to discover that you share a birthday with the owner of the Atlanta Falcons Bill, which feels like you just cast a pox upon my house.
Bills rally to beat Rams 35-32 after blowing 25-point lead
"The bills. Blew a twenty five point lead on Sunday and lived to tell the tale. The bills happily received the gift of questionable Pi call on fourth down. Then won the game on a Josh Allen to Tyler. Crop Hook up with fifteen seconds to play final score thirty, five, thirty, two. Wow Greg the rams came this close to a comeback for the ages. Only let victory slip away. They left too much time on the clock. When you come back from twenty three, you got a time that final touchdown just to go to overtime and then win the coin flip, which is probably the only way. The Rams Defense was GONNA get a stop in a big moment here because Josh Allen. Did. It all in this game in terms of the rollercoaster, the the whole experience they had nine possession and they and they scored five touchdowns. So I don't want to hear anything about the bills offense being in any way let down now he helped set up the comeback with a couple of turnovers, one of which came on a very questionable call, but was also a terrible throw by Alan. So yeah, he was at some fall Aaron Donald took over the game as Donald Does but my big takeaway is that the bills are an offensive team you WANNA get on part of their team. For blowing the lead, get on the defense I I look at them more as a team. That's GonNa make mistakes offensively as we saw here and there but that had to third and twenty three situations with the game on the line and they wound up converting the both they got one into a four, thousand nine. They got that questionable call as you mentioned Dan and and if they didn't get it, we'd be talking about how they blew this game but I still. As. A global view. Take a look at this bills team in think this offense is really dangerous and Alan's going to have some ups and downs but the conversion that they've had into an offense that can score over thirty regularly is massive and they are gonna be a tough team to beat when that's the case One thing stuck out to me was the uproar over the the controversial call at the end of the game and to be honest I caught a lot of this game. The only reason the rams were in the game was because of a bad call in their favour in which there was a simultaneous possession interception, which was clearly caught by the offensive player, and then once they hit the ground was wrestled out of his hands by the defensive player was a horrible call and they tried to defend it afterwards, our river on did and. It didn't make any sense when he tried to defend it either terrible throw though two and they gave up four touchdowns in four possessions very quickly. I think it's giving the rams a little too little credit's saying that's the only reason. It was definitely a turning point but it was a bad decision by Alan and more more to the point the rams offense started cooking. In the third and fourth quarters I hated that call. It's funny. We just started this show talking about how referees are keeping the flags in their pockets that to me at the end of the game there and I I know L. River on got behind his boy there. But that seemed very ticky tack with the game on the line to call that. But you know at that happens ultimately I think if you're the rams. Yeah. You're smarting from that call but also there are two third in forever's that they had right the bill. And all you gotTa do is make stop and that was you know that was to opportunities they had and they and they let it go by the boards and that is a credit to Allen I didn't get a chance to see this game. So I can't really say too much about it other than. His ability to just move this team up and down the field for three straight weeks, he is passed for three hundred yards. In, three straight weeks and they are averaging I believe four hundred and thirty yards. Total yards per game and thirty one points per game through three weeks, which is obviously franchise records across the board. There's something special happening with his offer.
Belichick reaches milestone as Patriots top Raiders 36-20
"Everyone is time for the bonus episode postgame recap for Vegas Nation podcast. I'm your host Heidi Fang and I'm joined with our readers writers, Ed Greenie, Adam. Hill we're going to break down what happened here in the Raiders Lost Thirty six to twenty against the New England Patriots here Gillette Stadium in Foxborough at an ir up in the press box Adam back in Vegas a from my vantage point it was. A lot of mistakes made by the raiders, which is something you can't do against the bill belichick coach team. So we're GONNA get all into that here but I I want to remind everybody that we are brought to you by Salmon Ash, indeed visa and also favor. So make sure to subscribe wherever you're listening and what was your first take on what you saw out in the field today with the raiders. You're right. They did everything you can't do and win on the road or anywhere turn the ball over three times. Once rent on. Didn't protect car when they were driving. Me fumbled the Fumble Alina Game Matter Games already overby fumbled the end zone. In the second half, they just wore down defensively I actually done the first thirty minutes be interested at him. I think thought the first thirty minutes they played. As good. A defense as they haven't a while let's be honest. Thirteen points here cam help them a lot. He wasn't any third, but they were down on the second Apple Sikhism Derek. Carr in the offense couldn't stand field. He gave up two hundred and fifty yards total rushing late Sony Michelle when expert in its players per talking, you know these of League so they were down and they just couldn't match. Match up. So a bad game they printed everything you can do and what on the road so Adam how much in fact that these running bags like just through the defense offered their game because I don't think they were looking to contain the likes of three different running backs in this one I think they prepared to contain Cam Newton? What was your thoughts on the running game? I think I was definitely a part of it and I think there was definitely adjustments made. By the Patriots coaching staff because as as ED put out for the first half of the, Patriots were able to run the ball somewhat. But I thought a it wasn't. There wasn't those explosive plays. There wasn't those big plays downfield and it was a kind of picking up some yards here. They're moving the ball effectively but not really gashing the raiders defense and then. They figured out something in the run game after halftime and I'll be interested to find out the later in the week. Interested to get the the all twenty two film comes out like Tuesday. Look a little what happened but I think just at first glance without really looking into what they were doing on the line maybe differently. They definitely started to go to some more cutback plays where they I thought really were able to take advantage of some over pursuit of the writer side in particular from Jonathan Abram, who you know, we know what he can do. In terms just flying around offensively and having people would kind of sending a message for that defense but at the same time. You can use that aggression against him and I think the Patriots kind of figure that out a little bit and it really hit him with a big plays on a place where he got into the gap, he was near the bulk area but just couldn't make up Adams exactly right and and they're going to have to here's the thing about a player John Neighbor might think they love is aggressiveness in his hitting all that he's got a swagger Jim and I. Hate to say this, but sometimes, you just have to you have to balance that it's hard to tell a guy like that. Don't play this way but Adams wait we should for resod against Christian McCaffrey, over pursues too much when you take the battling new pursue Sunny Michelle Christian McCaffrey, they're gonNA come back will go so Yeah. They just didn't play the run wellness second atoms right they adjusted and you have to give Michelle credit like I said when you go For, an average of thirteen yards of Kerry and I don't know if he's ever average per carry more than seven in a games and you also have saved in job I am. But they did they didn't play offensively were out of rhythm Waller. We'll talk about that I know atoms writing thoughts. Darren WELLM was non factor when you get a lot of good at the bill Belgium at he talked about. How good daring waller as well. Guess what he must have died because they ran every defense coverage double team run in stem and stopped him. So atom I know you you wrote about this mean, what did you hear the game to her? How they? You know bottle up there wall I thought it was a group effort I. think that's what of expected to hear from the Patriots Bill. Belichick obviously didn't go into detail about what he did. I think it was just a lot of deception what they were doing offensively disguising it and Bella check pointed out. Hey, it wasn't somebody covering him necessarily a lot of zone. We played a lot of you know bracket coverage a lot of. Men under there was a lot of different things. Defensively. On Waller but I think it was more just about the looks of they're giving up the line and never letting the raiders. No. Before the play what kind of coverage is GonNa be on Waller? Want Credit Anybody I. Think mccourty would be the one that you would like added. Say. Devin mccourty that Dinnie. Tremendous job on him but it was a little bit of everybody kind of in the mixer.
What's Next For Metal Gear Solid
"Series is hitting P. C.. J.. Gabe at Gamespot, the military series is hitting. Via Gog. Konami has announced previously only a select few games in the franchise were available outside of consoles the. Games hitting the service either MELA gear bill you're solid and bill your saw to substance were already to in. Taiwan, prior to the official announcement. Malaysia solid and substance actually had come to before and your saw five was also released four PC. But this should give those who never played playstation or xbox a chance to experience more of the Franchise Miller you're solid for to the Patriots remains a PS three exclusive. The new offerings don't seem to have any enhancements and you're getting the original metal gear solid rather than the Gamecube remake which I personally prefer I prefer the original not necessarily the game remains what I'm saying substance dot clear. Yeah. Substance does feature has an extra content not found mill solitudes original release. Releasing as the as collector's series, also be able to get five Castle Dania N. Contra. Games. Including Super See Dracula's curse and Simon's quest these games originally released on the s along with the series along with the Melody Games. The total cost for all titles is thirty two dollars. Tim is very exciting stuff for people who WanNa play these Games on. My one question is, when are we ever going to get your solid for? That's the thing anywhere else anywhere besides the playstation three it's bizarre. I am utterly shocked like back for all the young ones out there which is crazy at this point like even that era, there's probably of people listening to this right now that don't know what I'm referring to but when melanie solid four came out, it was the mean game of when's IT GONNA come to three sixty and it's like, oh, man, how many disc? On. Like nine there was like photoshop shops like xbox three, sixty cases with like that stick. With metal gear solid four on ten million discs But the fact of the actually never came out on another console is really weird and I think a lot of it has to do with the whole Kojima. Konami situation that went down around MCS five, but even then the fact that four wasn't. Like ported at some point. Di Around. With the architecture of the game because I know the game was advertised as a PS. Four game or a PS three game, it was kind of synonymous with. The launch of that console envier to some extent feels very built into like when you're transitioning from chapter to chapter, I remember getting the loading screen of. Solid Snake Smoking, the cigar and you. Believe. There are like tips in there to be like, Hey, you know take a break like the which took awhile. This. Going to take awhile I. Hey, you know relax take a break between sessions all that stuff that stuff seem. Very built into like the PS three system as far as at least like how this stuff look like it looked like a PS three like installation screen as opposed to just an in game thing. So I wonder if there's something about that game in particular that it's tough to port.
Canadas Single Payer Prevails Against Privatization Attempt
"I, Benjamin. Day. And I'm Stephanie Nakajima. And this is Medicare for all. The podcast for everybody needs healthcare. Today. We have Dr Monica debt who is on the board of Canadian. Doctors for Medicare and Public Health and family physician. Nova Scotia, we're thrilled to have her on today to talk about historic legal challenge to the Medicare program that was just heard by the Supreme Court of British Columbia and spoiler the victory delivered by the court to the country single payer system. I cannot wait to hear about this welcome Dr Dot and I'm just curious before we get into the topic. I mean. You're a family physician, but how did you get involved with? Felt the need to get involved with? Health reform. Protecting the Canadian universal healthcare system, but also trying to expand it and improve upon it. Here Hi. Thanks for having me on your podcast I'm really excited to be here. I've been a family physician about ten years. Now, I've worked in a range of settings from big cities to to mainly though northern. Towns across Canada and I've always been in settings where I've very much appreciated. The fact that my patients have access to healthcare wherever we are whether it's a small town or a big city. You know there's there's variations of cross across the country, but fundamentally, all of my patients do not need to worry about. Physician and hospital care. They do not need to pay when they come see knee or when they get to the hospital they know they can count on that care and that's always been really important to me. I also work in public health in very much care about health policies that. Benefit the health of a community of population and absolutely access to to healthcare is a fundamental determinant of Health I. Think it's something that I wanted to support in a in a everywhere I can in one of those ways has been through involvement with Canadian Doctors for Medicare for about the last ten years. and GM or Canadian for Medicare A as a nonprofit organization we've existed just over ten years and our. Fundamental goal is to maintain an improve our single payer publicly funded healthcare system in. Canada. So we want to maintain that single payer but at the same time know that there's there's always things we can do to make it better, but we can do that with a single payer system. So that it might be a bit confusing for our listeners. To hear that the Canadian single payer healthcare system is also called Medicare since we have a program called Medicare that only. Available for seniors sixty, five and older Whereas Canadian Medicare is of course. Accessible to everybody from to cradle-to-grave. So can you just talk a little bit about how Canadian Medicare works are there are there physician networks? Can you ever lose your coverage? Are you allowed to just out of the system or pay to jump the queue? So we do color our health care system Medicare in Canada at the same time when it actually is it's a series of we have provinces and territories, and so there are thirteen provincial and territorial health insurance programs across the country. So every province and territory is responsible for delivering care. Under the umbrella of what's called the Canada Health Act, which outlines the core principles of of Medicare and Canada and one imposes is universality but really it's a a series of health insurance plans that everyone is covered for primarily for physician and hospital services. So for example, where I work I see patients I build my provincial health insurance program I get paid in that way I cannot bill a private insurance program for for my services. Because it is publicly funded. I'm not allowed to then go in and bill a private insurance program. So for the pieces that are covered publicly through universal system, you cannot buy insurance to go see a physician or go to a hospital privately you need to access it through the public system just as as everyone else does we do have some of our care about thirty percent that is privately paid for either through supplemental insurance or through. Private payment, and that covers pieces like dental care some medications, physiotherapy other allied health professionals, and to be honest it's a gap in that we don't cover some of those pieces, but the vast majority of of care is covered under our public system.
Are We Being Forced to Buy Stocks
"Last week in the insiders guide email newsletter I pointed out the expensive valuation of US stocks. Specifically I showed that the forward price to earnings ratio the P. E. based on earnings estimates over the next year was twenty, two point nine. That's three standard deviations above its average of sixteen times going back to two thousand, three at data from Ned Davis. Research. In reply to that email, Andrew wrote regarding stocks being expensive on a forward e true but there's no alternative. What do you do with bond yields near Zero and the vanguard total stock market? Index. Fund. Yielding two percent. By VPI, the vanguard total stock market ETF. JASA forwarded to me a paper by Bridgewater says, which I'll discuss in more detail later in this episode. I had a similar question from a plus member in the money for the rest of US plus member forums. He wrote. So the Fed signals that it wants to keep rates low for three more years. Canada's pension. Fund is reevaluating bond-holdings and you've got an army of small and large investors bidding up companies like Tesla and snowflake to absurdly hype. All this combined to make me think are we as individual investors now forced to buy equities? Is this the mother of all bubbles in which there's literally no other things suitable for purchase. There is a lot of speculation in stocks right now. Jim. Bianco Bianca Research pointed out that small traders are dominating the options market. Bear most of the trades right now and seventy five percent of that volume is an option contracts expire in two weeks. So short term bets. Look at South Korea and article from Bloomberg pointed out that day traders in South Korea have accounted for eighty seven and a half percent of the total value of stocks traded in the first part of September. You. Some men chief strategist at Samsung Securities said retail investors appear to be seeking short-term profits after hearing their next door neighbors earned lots of money from stocks after the March selloff. Receiving a similar situation in India. The Financial Times reports that the number of individual investor accounts rose twenty percent from the start of the year, the twenty, four million, and they point out that around the world, an influx of investors are investing in stocks for the first time. Are. We in a bubble? Is it a speculative frenzy? Are we forced to buy these stocks because there are no alternatives with also? One of the things I like to do investing is think about what's different this time what's unusual? What what doesn't fit the pattern? I had two instances of investing this past week where something didn't fit the pattern Lebron, I were driving up in the mountains of Montana and a small bear cub really bolted right in front of us no idea what it was running from. My son suggested he was running from the year twenty twenty. And then few days later at our front door, there were seven cows drinking water from the driveway eating our bushes. There are no cows around us. We live in an area that nobody keeps cows but there they were right in front of my house. Turns out. They had strayed from the National Forest, which is not very far some outfitters have grazing rights and drop off the cows and leave them there all summer pick them up come late October, and they had straight down because some of that newly cut barley fields, but it didn't fit the pattern. Cows at your front door. Don't fit the pattern. What's different now on investing front that could justify more expensive valuations for stocks. Well, for the first time, ever US interest rates are near zero from short term out to ten years. This is known as a flat yield curve, which is an unusual. We've had flat yield curves in the past. But it's flat near zero. There was a flat yield curve where ten treasury bonds and cash for yielding similar back from two thousand and five to two thousand seven. But yielding four percent. And from two thousand to two, thousand, two cash and tenure treasures were yielding five to six percent. Today, the ten year Treasury yield is zero point, six percent and cash is zero. The Federal Reserve intense to keep it that way. The recent policy statement suggests that they will keep their policy rate. What's known as the Fed funds rate near zero until labor market conditions have improved. The. Unemployment rate has dropped close to to to maximum employment and that inflation has risen to two percent is on track to moderately exceed two percent. They included their economic and rate projections and all, but four officials on the committee. Expect the Fed funds rate is still be near zero at the end of twenty, twenty three. Rates are low across the board. It is a different investment environment than we have ever faced before. And that's what this paper by bridgewater associates was about. It was titled Grappling With the New Reality of zero bond yields virtually everywhere. It was written by Bob Prince Greg Jensen Melissa fear, and Jim Haskell. I. Discussed Bridgewater Associates Founder Ray dallies views back in episode three, hundred changing world order in this paper bills off that. Before we continue let me pause and share some words from one of this week sponsors masterworks. I've shared on the show how low interest rates are on bonds and yields and cash about zero money has to be invested somewhere in preserving your wealth is as hard as it's ever been. That's where masterworks comes in. If you're looking to diversify out of the traditional public markets, then take a look at masterworks. They make blue chip art investing possible works by artists like Banksie, 'cause and Warhol. Art is a one point seven trillion dollar asset class that has performed better than s five hundred by one hundred and eighty percent between two thousand and two thousand eighteen according to Citibank.
"bills" Discussed on Big Book Podcast
"Welcome back my friends to the big book podcast. My name is Howard and I'm an alcoholic sober since January nineteen eighty eight one day at a time. In this episode Chapter One Bill Story from the second edition about alcohol anonymous originally published in Nineteen fifty five. Substantially unchanged from the first edition there were some minor revisions to bill story. A word here sentenced there by the time the second edition was published bill story had appeared in more than three hundred thousand copies of the first edition, while a a membership had mushroomed from one hundred, two over seven, hundred, twenty, five thousand. And though bill story had already become legendary by nineteen, fifty, five, his timeless message of experience, strength, and hope retained its power and impact past his death in nineteen, seventy-one through the third and fourth editions and to the Present Day. And now. From the second edition of alcoholics anonymous. Chapter one bill story. War fever ran high in the New England town to which we knew young officers from Plattsburgh were assigned, and we were flattered when the first citizens took us to their homes, making us feel her ROIC. Here was love applause war moments sublime with intervals hilarious. I was part of life at last, and in the midst of the excitement I discovered liquor. I forgot the strong warnings, and the prejudices of my people concerning drink. In time we sail for over there. I was very lonely and again turned to alcohol. We landed in England I visited. Winchester Cathedral much moved I wandered outside. My was caught by dog role on an old tombstone. Here lies a Hampshire Grenadier. Who caught his death? Drinking cold small beer. A good soldier is narrow, forgot whether he dia by Musket or by pot. Ominous warning which I failed to heed. Twenty, two and a veteran of foreign wars. I went home at last I fancied myself a leader for had not the men of my battery given me a special token of appreciation, mitalent for leadership I imagined would place me at the head of vast enterprises, which I would manage with the utmost assurance. took a night law course and obtained employment as investigator for shirty company. The drive for success was on I'd prove to the world I was important. My work took me about Wall Street and little by little I became interested in the market. Many people lost money, but some became very rich. Why not I I studied economics and business as well as law potential alcoholic, that I was I nearly failed my law course. At one of the finals, I was too drunk to think or right. Though my drinking was not yet continuous, it disturbed my wife. Had, long talks when I would still her forebodings by telling her that men of genius conceived their best projects, when drunk that the most majestic constructions of philosophic thought were so derived by the time I had completed the course I knew the law was not for me. The inviting Maelstrom of Wall Street had me in its grip. Business and financial leaders were my heroes out of this alloy of drinking speculation I commenced to forge the weapon that one day wouldn't turn in its flight like a boomerang and all, but cut me to ribbons. Living Modestly, my wife and I saved one thousand dollars. It went into certain securities then cheap and rather unpopular. I Riley imagine that they would someday have a great rise I failed to persuade my broker friends to send me out looking over factories and management's, but my wife and I decided to go anyway. I had developed the theory theory that most people lost money in stocks through ignorance of markets. I discovered many more reasons later on. We gave up our positions off. We roared on a motorcycle. The sidecar stuffed with tent blankets, a change of clothes and three huge volumes of a financial reference service. Our friends thought a lunacy commission should be appointed. Perhaps they were right. I had had some success at speculation, so we had a little money, but we once worked on a farm for a month to avoid drawing on our small capital. That was the last honest manual labor on my part for many a day. We covered the whole eastern United States in a year at the end of it. My reports to Wall Street procured me a position there and the use of a large expense account. The exercise of an option brought in more money, leaving us with a prophet of several thousand dollars for that year. For the next few years fortune through money and applause my way. I had arrived. My judgment and ideas were followed by many to the tune of paper millions. The great boom of the late twenties was seething and swelling drink was taking an important and exhilarating part of my life. There was loud talk in the jazz places uptown. "That's out of network and then get personally charged for the difference between what the provider charges and what. The patient's the health care insurance is willing to pay. This can even happen if you go to an in network facility like a hospital but get treated by an out of network doctor now sometimes. The bills can be just a few dollars but they can also be thousands of dollars leading to some of the medical bankruptcies we hear about not surprisingly surprise. Medical bills are not terribly popular among Americans Americans with surveys showing that around half of us have received one so congress and the White House had been working on a solution for over a year but it is very complicated after. Remember over the extra money does need to come from somewhere. If it's not gonna come from patients then either. Healthcare insurers are going to need to pay or healthcare providers are going to need to pay or maybe maybe a combination of the two. This past midnight may have seen a breakthrough though as some bipartisan. Top members of congressional healthcare committees and nounce in agreement but within hours the health care industry voiced its opposition and given what we know about Washington. DC that means getting. This deal passed as anything but a sure bet. In the meantime surprise medical bills continue to be mixed in but the holiday cards. PODCAST joined now by active healthcare reporter. Caitlyn Owens so Caitlyn as we mentioned at the top there was a deal proposed on Sunday night. What are the broad strokes so this deal would prohibit patients receiving bills and then it would also set a benchmark right to decide how much that provider got paid but if a bill is above seven hundred fifty dollars then either party would have the option of taking it to arbitration to dispute kind kind of that benchmark claim spreads? Medical bills aren't a small thing in the sense of there's lots and lots of them who these arbitrators but this basically a new federal bureaucracy of arbitrators or do we have any senator who these people because we could be talking about thousands and thousands of claims day. Well first of all. I don't know it's hard to say. How many claims because first of all the average balanced bill according to a letter that I got last last week from team health which is a physician staffing firm the average balance Bill? They said that they send out is five hundred thirty dollars. You know I think. That's part of the providers complaints about about this is that seven hundred and fifty s and a low enough threshold to be able to send you know most of their bills to arbitration board. That said we don't have the legislative text as far as I know yet. We just got a section by section in summary so I think some of these details are kind of the weedy ones are a little bit. Td actually asked about that when we look at WHO Kinda proposed this on Sunday night one person was conspicuously. Absent isn't which was Patty Murray. Who's kind of the top Democrat on the Senate side of this Lamar Alexander who's a Republican counterpart was on it? Do we know why she wasn't there. It was that just because she didn't and get around to it or is she going to actively oppose this because that would seem to matter no she said a statement and it was a supportive statement. She's not on it. She said that some members of your caucus we're still having being issues with the bill. Politico reported that one of those was Chuck Schumer. He was the Senate Minority Leader and not coincidentally New York Hospital. Association is opposing misspell spell. Almost every healthcare provider organization of any substance is opposing this bill or or is there an exception somewhere the major ones all are opposing it. Yes yes they want the arbitration rate their big favor arbitration in states where petitioner has been used. It's been favorable to them. They don't like the benchmark rate weather because that lowers their profits were because they don't like the standard that it sets of the government intervening and payment rates if this bill As you said the legislative texts. Isn't there yet. But if this concept in theory were to become in law as a patient at that point does it matter anymore if I go in network out of network does that become largely irrelevant. No so I think this. Bill Limited limited to specific circumstances. Now what can't happen or what is not supposed to happen anymore is that you unknowingly go out of network so you know the point is that the patient needs to actively consent to going out of network so the problem is for example when you go to the emergency room in your anesthesiology. Even first of all like you know if you're having an emergency I don't think anyone's first first reaction to this to say go to the closest place by ambulance explicit. Exactly so then you know once. You're there even if you are in network like who knows if the anesthesiologist MRIs ecologists. That comes by while you're unconscious is going to be in network or out of network right so like that's what the situation is attempting to address now if you WanNa get knee surgery and you really like an out of network needs urgent. And you're aware that the knee surgeon is out of network. You're still going to have to be on the hook for paying out of whatever that cost is and and you know the solution doesn't apply there so the point is that patients will just like not unknowingly see out of network providers and then get hit with the bill for it. We've talked a little bit in the past. About how when you look at the pieces of the healthcare industry and when you see what gets talked about say during presidential debates or other political debates providers the doctors the facilities almost never get mentioned as part out of the equation. Here is that beginning to change in surprised medical bill and change that or do people still into the politicians still at least publicly talk insurers insurers insures insures and drug companies obviously. You're still the big ones. But you are seeing the providers. Come up more so and you know. I think that these ads that these private equity backed companies have run. I pissed some politicians off. Joe Rogan told. WHO's the top adviser at the White House? told us that they were vile and these are. ADS are coming from providers that are targeting congresspeople. And kinda swing districts correct right and I think that Dan you know the one thing we haven't talked about yet on this. Is that just this year so much money at stake here and you know in this letter that I obtained last sweep that I wrote about team health. Which is one of these private equity backed provider companies? They wrote two senators in a private letter. That they'd it's not that they make a lot of money from balanced spilling itself which they don't it's like you know a lot of patients can't even pay these bills but the point is they are able to raise in network rates with insurers because there are threatening to the inbalance spo- patients so it's kind of like you know one expert put it to me. It's like basically holding patients hostage. You know putting a gun to their head and looking insurers and saying pay up you know so there's just a AH that's why private equity is interested in these firms because they're able to get these in-network payment raith that are many multiples of what Medicare pays and better paid than many other. Providers specialties specialties. It's not just these balanced bills that are at stake here. It's also you know what it comes down to. Is How much tax payers and patients paying premiums or taxes if you know in the case of taxpayers. So there's there's just a lot of layers to this issue and it really gets that the reason why providers are fighting so hard for this just how much money is at stake crystal-ball gaze from where we are This two thousand nine hundred about the end in which means we are officially going to be in a presidential election year very very soon plus a Senate election year for lots of folks. Do you expect by next November. Will there be some sort of legislation. salaciously passed and signed by the White House to try to get at this issue surprise medical billing. You would've asked me last week and I said no probably not at this rate but I think that you know this kind of did get a new burst of energy this weekend when the bill was released. I hate putting myself in a definitive status. But I'm asking because things can change it a whim. It's looking at this week. I'll say that that's that's a good place. "Titans into your heart I. I guess I'm ready. Tighten up okay. Let me rephrase that. Are you ready to accept a world in which Ryan Tannehill is the most beloved by advanced. Reese quarterback you in Did you did you see a Ben Baldwin. CPO E EPA rankings. Today where Santa Hell Yeah. He's number one number one in the dumps. Dad's he's a fascinating this season's one hundred thirteen point nine that second and in six starts he's had five one hundred plus games but he's also the next has that a completion percentage above above expected completion percentage. He's number one by like a mile in that so I went back and watched a little bit of Tanta Hill. To see how he's been doing it and the last game he wasn't as good. You have this incredible. That forty yard pass. Hold hold onto cle- Raymond who is a person. I learned existed while watching that clip. But I think that that was probably like he didn't really win the game but it is interesting Charles like it does feel like they've sort of built the perfect offense for his skill set. If that that makes sense which is something that obviously did not happen in Miami. Yeah I remember I think the first Tannehill game I watched this year was that she's game. Where on that last drive of the game? I mean I thought I was watching like personnel Al Hall of Famer because he had twenty two yards and he comes back those two strikes for like sixty down the field then scored a touchdown scores two super conversion. That was like you know. I don't even know what this is. But that's not the Ryan Tannehill that I'm used to watch him and yet again Charles. MacDonald underestimating summating the mobility of my court. I'm Danielle I didn't. I wasn't underestimate people. Receiver at a Texas. I know he's a good athlete. How I was just thinking like I didn't know that he has the ability to do like a ninety yard game winning drive? I don't think I've ever seen them do that. And I I really like the way office is set up because I was a big fan of. Aj Brown the Ole miss the draft. He is great. And did you just look at what he was able to do in college. I mean he was. I think you have to or two or three straight thousand yard seasons and he was doing at such a young Age So you know you got him and Corey Davis and Derrick. Henry is coming along and dominating December as he seems to do every single year. You I don't. I don't really know what the feeling on this team is. But you're right like the way that this thing structure pretend to hell. I don't think it's a stretch to say. I mean this might even be a rather obvious statement that this is the best supporting cast that he's had in his career where it's like. All these pieces are working together for him. And he's almost a perfect quarterback to unlock this thing and make it work so this is I think this is the first time in my life. Since Steve McNair was there where I can honestly say like I enjoy watching the Tennessee. Titans play offense like I don't I I don't know what's going on here. And the fact that Ryan Ryan Tannehill leading this resurgence. It's I mean it's amazing to watch the keys. He's tied right now. The League League with Pat with Patrick Mahomes in terms of adjusted yards per attempt. which you know? If you're listening you don't know it converts touchdown interception interceptions of the yards and it makes like one meet yards per attempt number I I don't I don't think he's doing that. Great in terms of QBR. But when you just watch them play it's like it's like a totally totally different quarterback that we've seen that was playing in you know these really short we're going to throw the ball Jarvis Landry a million times a game screen stuff but that he was doing Adam Gates and now he's got an offense coordinator with Arthur Smith to when Marietta was a quarterback look like a lame duck guy and now he he's leaving one of the better offenses in the League over the past few weeks. It's it's it's really strange to watch and I really hope that the Tennessee titans sneak into the playoffs. Somehow because I I just WanNa see what they can do in a high stakes situation where we've seen the comeback against the chiefs. Even though a little bit of that was Andy Reid in his usual clock management. A gas I I I would love to see them get into the playoffs playing the high state games and how the chance to to win in a normal way I would say because last time they won. That was the the way they played against the chiefs in the playoffs in Mariota caught that pass it was bad down south. Yeah like I. I'm really interested to see see if this team is legit and if they can continue like this explosive offense inefficient offense in the postseason over the last three games. Derrick Kennedy is rushed for one hundred forty nine yards one hundred fifty nine yards one hundred eighty eight yards so great it's The line is still very bad at pass. Pro they're gonNA run blocking you. Actually see you and I think Taniela some of the same problems as Mario I do think he holds onto it too long but offensive line does struggle in that regard. That said he's kind of doing everything they wanted Mario to do. It's it's a simple offense. It's really. It's a lot of boots a lot of screens. But he's executing well I think Mario it over the last couple of years. The you mobility is there in a way that threatens defenses. It's guys like Henry j Brown just really strong athletic lake weapons. Just get him the ball and let them run dudes over. Eat seems to be like a formula. That's pretty successful for them. I think this is a plus defense. I don't think they're one of the best defense in the NFL. The secondary is probably. I don't have the numbers in front of me. The this best rush defense twenty third past that checks out a UH great linebacker group. I feel like I'm I'm one of the oldest finished such a lame thing to say but you don't really hear enough. I think about this linebacker linebacker group and how good they are John Brown. Hope I'm saying his name right but He's been good for two years now John Evans also he's in a second can season out about he. He's been really great and then Herald Landry Herald Landry Cheese Herald Landry got eight sacks eleven tackles for loss so I think with with Acura and then draw. Casey hasn't been as unstoppable as he's been in past years but pairing him with Jeffrey Simmons over the last few Games has unlocked him at moments. I mean this defense. That's good enough. I think to keep pace with any of the playoff teams. So we'll see I mean I. I would pick them to win. I mean the raiders who are playing this weekend are obviously trending in the wrong direction. They've been outscored seventy four to twelve over the last few games. I don't really want to talk about them. I'm at length. I just want to read this quote from Tarran Matthew. I'm glad that we were able to capitalize on him him. Being Derek Carr her when he did try to throw the ball down the field. Yeah I mean I was at that I obviously I was at the Jess Raider game Two weeks ago man like it was just all check downs. The entire game like he he he. We did not test the the jazz defense whatsoever and then they got behind so quickly so fast that He was pulled like three minutes left in the third. Quarter and that raiders team. I I was. I was intrigued by them. But even going into that jets game where they were six and four. They still had a negative point differential on the season. And I think even if you if you go back you go to pro football reference and you look at each seems expected wins and losses coming into that game. They're six and four but they're expected wouldn't losses was three and seven so they were team that was like Kinda outperforming expectations at the time or getting lucky these close games and you know I maybe over the the past two weeks leave We've seen what this team might actually be. Which is pretty boring? Yeah they're like an average football altea. Basically yeah I still think I mean. If you're a raiders fan too I'm not like totally dispirited. Allow these rookies look really good. I'm still excited about you. Know like Mo oh her and Renfro. Who didn't apparently Hunter Renfro was the key? To the entire raiders. Offense all along who knew by the way tyroleans real disappointment there. And I think that's that's the issue this is supposed to be an evaluation year of Derek Carr and after the first half of the season you're thinking all right we we're gonNA definitely a stick with him and now he's struggling and the reason. I thought it would be a good year to evaluate him because I thought okay. They finally have weapons around him. This is when they signed Brown to and I thought okay they can tell what they have but at the end of the day. It doesn't matter who you put around him. It's just as brain like I wish you could take a little bit of Daniel Jones and Janus Winston like what's in their brain and do a little bit of a swap an eighty twenty situation take twenty percent of Derek Carr and put it in their brains take twenty percent of Winston Jones and put it in Derek cars brain. Yeah I it's just it's just gotta be more aggressive like if you wanNA consistently score points and I think he made a good point like there is stuff to be excited about. Josh Jacobs has an excellent all season. I think the off that often divine is is is pretty good to me Like I love watching Trent Brown play. Because you just show you six eight. Three hundred. Seventy three hundred eighty pound guys just moved like as well as he does not. I don't know it's just like one of those planet things where I just just can't get enough of watching some of those guys off the vine so I I don't I they still have the first round pick from the Khalil Mack Trade for next year to right. I think I think so. Yeah it away like you can really argue either side of that now it almost gas on that. It's not like a lose lose situation but I mean the bears probably got like a it probably stick there because it's he he he's great but I think teams showed this year you can. You can neutralize them a little bit if you you know if he three bodies and yeah you can block him And that's a viable way to play offense when Leonard Floyd doesn't show up and now it's on trubisky and we know trubisky you know he's just so you know I mistake. But he's got to see how those picks pan out for the for the raiders. All right before we get to dinks and dunks wanted to tell you guys is about to podcasts one is espn daily hosted by yours. "I you have a couple pieces but it's so far away like I think you just want to focus more on the offense and let's say you know Mike you migrants walk. You probably going to end up. Releasing inmates sold it. Because I just don't know if if he can play anymore like physically he he hasn't been able to make it through the whole season His play his level of play has declined pretty hard. This season I think you can live with the skill. The town you have. I assume everyone's healthy like Darius fleeting has been fantastic surprising. I think he's been phenomenal. All Year We know Sterling Shepherd. He's he's probably an above average receiver in this league. They got money tied in the golden pay for at least another season. Probably so there isn't too much you can do it. The receiver spy but not too much. You even really need to do. I think he's got to get better upfront. Because a lot of these issues that sick on Barclay has had this year outside outside of him maybe clean back from the injury too early as the blocking is just and like putrid in the the run blocking has been awful. Internet is has he. He's been not he's bad but he hasn't taken the next step that she would expect me to. Especially after such a rock solid rookie year. I you know when when someone someone like Saquon Barkley goes into the game against the jets and gets one yards on thirteen carries one like a single yard. Oh you gotta look at stuff that just beyond sick wants her. And that's bad you know the the ultimate it just getting mall at the point of attack. They're getting blown by I by speed Russia's like I it's it's pretty rough out here for as far as the often flying goes so I think you might have keeper Xilin in Hernandez but you might. You probably gotTA start over Left Guard Center and right tackle which is a big task to ask in to do and one off season. But when you spend I pick on Daniel Jones and you just gotTa make sure that that works out like that's the most important thing for this team so I think fixing the often the flying is is paramount for them and you know on defense. They spent resources on defense like they traded like we just talked about. They traded the three the five for the letter. William they spent a first round pick on The Baker they spent a first round. Pick on Mauri- they drafted Jillian love. They Adhikari Ballantyne like even even this year they also drafted in his amenities. WHO's paying for them? They drafted Lorenzo Carter last year fairly high in the third round on. So you know I. It's not to say that they haven't been trying on defense but the picks just having worked out where these guys are still young and trying to figure it out their way So you know. I think for them if they do have a new coaching staff re but if they don't have any coaching staff you've got to protect Dale Jones a little bit better because that's that's the most important thing for that moving forward making sure that he gets straight so you know the wide receiver room is probably about says as L. as it'll be now you just gotTa go off the line but you know the way that they're headed in draft talk a little premature around this time this year. The wave of it had I to intend. They might still end up taking defense. Because like if you're there the number two pick in the draft and the Bengals I may pick Joe Borough like you. You can't pick shakes August. You think well. Unfortunately that's what I let Lenny. Trade is if you had the draft capital you might be worth going out and getting chase anyways even if they're not picking second but they might not have the resources to do. So I'm sure they'll be vying with our falcons who yeah to bring this full circle. We probably should have mentioned this up top with Ron Rivera getting fired. You GotTa think people are going to look at the giants as potential Dole landing spot. Charles maybe I mean I guess it would be questioned whether Ron's going to get a job as the head coach or defensive coordinator but that would be a reunion between him and Dave gettleman so that seems like a possible but we talked a lot about the giants and everybody deal that. I haven't talked about them all season and also I have Charles on the show today but part of the reason I want to talk about this game. They're playing the eagles who are in endlessly fascinating team to me. It's really funny. It's not funny How much they've struggled at the dolphins? But what I do find funny is you were talking about the eagles like they're one of the worst teams in the NFL and a total disgrace and it was. I just pulled up. Their efficiency numbers their fourteenth and pass offense seven than rush offense tenth and pass defense eighth and rush defense like they still have the bones of a good team. Um if that makes sense or a decent team but I think he's on his dolphins game is like they never they. They haven't put it all together together. They rarely put it all together. This season you offense has been bad and the defense carried them. The defense came in. They were awful at the beginning of the season and then they improved then dolphins game. They were horrendous. And the offense actually played. Well it's just haven't put together a complete game so it's it's hard for me to even know where to begin when talking about sort of their failings. I think the biggest question people have is. How much can you attribute to no injuries? The loss of -Ly Johnson. Sean Jackson. How much is coaching? which I think is something? We're hearing more. And more of critiques of both Peterson Certainly Micro and also Jim Schwartz. Unless game and how much of it is just execution on the part of the players themselves. Yeah I don't know because I it's weird. What happened to them because coming into the season not only? Was it this. This team is the best team the NFC and like like a potential super bowl. Contender it was also they have the deepest roster and within that if you if we are coming out as the Almighty all knowing media that you have the deepest roster in the NFL. You think you'd be able to weather the storm on these injuries and a little bit better but they just haven't been able to so that the the biggest issue or the biggest question. I have with the Eagles I I don't even know if he can be answered this year is like how good is Carson Wentz. Because you you would hope at least if you're going to give this guy top five quarterback money and extend him for a longtime in the face of your franchise that you be able to overcome this a little bit and I know that maybe it's just a bit of a situation where he hasn't been able to develop this chemistry with his receivers and you know even seahawks game like you saw where it not only was he off his receivers are off in. You know you. You can't even really run a passing off into the two main components of your passing. Offense aren't even on the same page so and that's been the the story of A of at least you know their recent stretch where they just they. Just don't really look like a cohesively good football team even though we know that they have a ton of good players like you look at their offense defense flying Even their tight ends and when they're healthy like their receivers to a degree that it looks like a team that should be better than five and seven and losing to a team that pretty much all of us thought were trying to lose coming into the season and have basically should we stripped down there and tied Rosser for parts in the Miami Dolphins. So I don't i. It's almost confused because we all know that they should be better but they aren't and and like you said even the advance stats or or whatever you were referencing. They still have like the pieces of a good team but just haven't able to put it together and it's slippery exchanging game to game. I think it's like it's hard to diagnose the problem with this team because I I think they're different in every game quite frankly the receivers have been obviously trash all year. There have been games. Jeffrey showed up. But then there's games the defense has been good. The secondary's been mostly bad. Got Off against the dolphins. But I think it's hard to after the Eagles seahawks game. I was ready to just go in on Wednesday I was like you know. He's footwork. Looks terrible his pocket movement is awful. He's air mailing screens. He's fumbling dot game. He looked kind of fine. I mean it's the dolphins defense. Yes but I think having Lane Johnson back in obviously made a huge difference like he's not a bad quarterback by any means But it's just kind of hard like they're just not putting it all together I did. I did find something compelling. Our friend foreign podcasts guests. Stephen had an interesting article this week. About how the Eagles are famous for using twelve personnel. Too tight ends. They use it more than anyone that anyone anyone else in the NFL. And he found that they were on a per play basis thirty I in EPA off of twelve personnel which is crazy easy to me by the way so on one hand I could criticize Doug Peterson for not changing the game plan when they've had a lack of success using those groupings but then on the other hand what wide receiver is enough. Mac Hall is right so it's this. It's kind of hard. I think it really. You do have to split the criticism between him between Halley. Rosamund for not going out and getting I mean you can't predict the Sean Jackson. Andrew Jackson getting hurt but even so it does feel like they should've taken more steps to bolster the secondary in the wide receiver. Group are one more game. A team is trending in a much more positive direction. Anti training may have direction before we do typically about upstart as most of us have found out the hard way getting into debt is easy..

"Who was the signs like two who years in like less than eight million dollars have been really really good and then Brown Beasley really have not only been excellent but have an excellent for Josh Allen? I John Brown was opened the entire first. Half of the season. It would drive me crazy. And then Allen started to hit him and then I think what you've seen over the last few games during this stretch very good offense from them is Brown has been double teamed and bracketed a bit more and he's been finding Beasley basically a human zone Beater Ryan. I think you saw that on Thanksgiving thanks. Giving in particular online that excellent touchdown pass so you know if he can like play efficient. Football with those to pass catchers. I think that's kind of the perfect complement of weapons for him Much has been made of debut. It's still funny by the way after the Patriots Patriots game you know he was really bad and the offense was struggling in the beginning of the year. It was all the defense you saw people calling for like dabbles. Firing was heavily criticised and it. Just I I still like I always. I praised him back then received some criticism but I really think it was more just that they weren't executing his game plan but they have made some tweaks you know he famously famously moved upstairs and also shaved his beard but beyond that they've played a lot more no huddled and they've gotten Robert Foster on the field using more eleven and I think that's worked as well just kind of getting their best players out there so all that said. I think if the bills want any hope at this one it can't just be defensive grind fest I think Allen needs to exploit those ravens corners and I think you know there's some hope based on what we've seen lately. Yeah there there's definitely some hope You know I'm kinda interested to see like if the bills else can win this game like is there a chance that they can get back into the AFC and you know like like they like dabble. He's done such a good job and and I remember like last year when they beat the Vikings and I think they're just dealing with a ton of short fields and they they gotta turn overs on Kirk cousins but They got like dabble. which is scheming guys wide? Open against the Mike Zimmer's defense. That's when I was like okay. You know this guy might actually be you. You know a pretty counterplay collar and now and now. Now he's got the personnel like it's almost a little bit to me like not that he's Kyle Shanahan but when you wash Kyle Shanahan in his first year with the forty nine and it's like you see these guys running wide open but whoever their quarterback was whether it be hoyer or better or whatever they were just just missing these throws and and you see it's like if they could just get a little bit more talent at the quarterback position with off line or or what have you then this really take off and now I think he's starting to say see the same thing with the bills and if they can keep this up if they can beat the ravens like we might have to start taking this team seriously as a team that might not. I don't WANNA say they'll beat the Patriots but at least at least can make make some noise in the playoffs and potentially get get into that home slot against the AFC East a Ah are for the AFC East especially if you know if this patriots often still keeps sputtering Mike. I think that's a very real possibility. But they still have to go out and do I. I mean pats would have to lose to the chiefs not impossible and then we'd have to go to foxborough girl beat them all right. Well before we get to the next game I can tell you about ziprecruiter. Hiring is challenging but there's one placing Zingo were hiring a simple fast and smart and growing businesses connect to qualified candidates. Quotable co-founder.

"Know that if you can't throw you can still produce on the ground I'm not sure if this is the case now but going into that giving us a forty niners the ravens had three of the top five runners in the league in terms of yards per carry with Lamar Mark Ingram and Gusts Edwards. So you know what what they're doing on the ground is unbelievable and if if a team like the forty niners can't stop them on the ground like if Lamar Still GonNa get sixteen carries. Here's one hundred one yards and a touchdown versus the forty niners. And they have you know zillion first round picks on defense or making go make Aaron. Donald look like just an ordinary right from the pack. Were in that game against the rams where he has one of the worst games of his career against that team. You know it's it's really scary to think about. Not only what this team can the rest of the season but what they can do in the future because I mean you got to think about it. I receiver they've Hollywood Hollywood Brown who he. He's kind of in and out the lineup but he's dynamic player and outside of that in the passing game they're just kind of relying on tight ends in. Got Guys like Steph Roberts in Willie snead needs you know they have at least personnel wise. A lot of room to get better so you know I. I thought that game was just I. It was fascinating to see a team. Still be able to move the ball and still there'll be other play productive football in a situation where the throwing wasn't always there for them and you know I. It was a mix between the weather. And Lamar was perfect on the ball on that game. Either but you know I think the fact that he doesn't need to be perfect to still being extremely valuable player for the issues. Like that's gotTa be Kinda scary to watch it if you're the rest of the AFC not that was just about perfect defensive game against them are honestly. That's that's probably the best sort of defensive performance you'll get against the Ravens is what you saw partially their offense just didn't execute enough also. It was Jimmy was trying to throw interceptions all over the place and they were also plagued by the same issues with the rain and they also ran. The ball with great successes are really close football the game but I think a couple of things struck me about watching from watching this niners defense against that Ravens run game game. Once it became clear to the past wasn't there I joked about how the options were faking out. The niners linebackers. Ah joked about criticizing them. Even though I was full on every play but it was funny. Charles's even went so there were just many plays where you would see the Fred Fred Warner whoever bite on whether it was Ingraham Edwards on an option play and then Lamar would scoot around the edge but even when they read read him correctly. He's still to the Hass. That's what's so crazy about watching him like we talk about the use of motion and the deception and the optionality on that but even when it's not there even when you know he's GonNa run he will still beat. You WanNa say beat you too. It's not like it used to rip off a huge run because it's the ravens they're gonNA play four downs. God bless them like they're just he's GonNa he's GonNa get it so I think that that's something that struck me. I thought if they play that game a few more times I do think the niners win some of them if they get a better game out at Jimmy just because at defense really is the best in the League and the other thing that struck me about this game game is how deeply irritating it is that Baltimore has Justin ducker right like always kicker struggling across the League for teams. That actually need them. They alright have the best kicker in the NFL. Twenty three this year and they can use him to ice games when they want to. So that's infuriating so I don't think the bills defense is as good as San Francisco's. I think they're very good. They do play a lot of zone and I think that equips them better against Jackson perhaps in some other teams but I integrate cowboys. Oh Boy Game Charles. They warrant terrific against the run so I wouldn't be surprised and given how good this bill second areas areas. I wouldn't be surprised if we see another similar performance from Amar on this one. Yeah I mean neither would i. And it's gotten to the point where you know if if the the forty niners can't stop the run if rams can't stop the run AO INC coming into those games. Those are two of the better run defense league like if those teams are just GonNa get towards from the ground we might just be at a point where it says. It doesn't really matter how good you run defenses. I E you're probably just just GONNA get smoked regardless because you not only. Do you have to scheme where you have to account for the quarterback where like all eleven players on the field are active participants submits in the run game on offense which is something that really only one team is consistently doing in Baltimore. You have to deal with the fact that they have some really really really talented offensive lineman with Ronnie Stanley's a former first round pick. He's great. We all know Marshall Janda might be a future hall of Famer is the hall if the if the voters get that one right Orlando Brown's developed into one of the best right tackles in the League And he was a third round pick. I mean these guys can just mall your face at the point of attack. Not only are you worrying about. Where is the ball you have? You have these three hundred forty pound guys just coming down your face while you're trying to figure out where the ball is and then before you can even figure out either Ingram slip down the field for ten yards or the Mars going around the corner like this is I think i. I don't know if we have any advanced advanced numbers on this or I'm sure there are buying them but this has got to be one of the best rushing attacks just flat out in the history of the game and when you look at how efficient that they they are on the ground if you just go by pro football pro pro. Football references expected plant models. They're more efficient than about half the leaks passing tax. Which is I mean insane positive by the way as a run just to have a positive rushing? EPA is already bonkers so yeah so so what what they're doing on the ground is crazy and then You know you factor in what Lamar can do as a passer like I. I just don't know if buffalo has the horses to to slow interesting down in you know at at all. He had a great game on Thanksgiving against the cowboys He's coming to zone. But still you know I just don't know no as a whole i. If this is the team that can flow down Lamar McDermott's great offense is a great decent mind for the bills and I think he's one of the best defense. The coaches like flat out and football. But you know I it just comes to a point where this this Baltimore. Offense is such a fine tuned machine that even if they can they can clamp ramp down on the passing game a little bit and make Lamar you know at least control him as a passer. It just might not matter because that runoff fences so good. I think that you're right about the bills defense which is talked about a lot. And they're very good and it was lovely to see our beloved Oliver Start Thriving driving after a slow start this year. I think for it's more likely. Let's put it this way that a team that the ravens will. We'll have a bad day on defense that we'll see more slip-ups from Earl Thomas and Marcus. Peters like what we saw in the ninth game then it is. I think for a defense to stop Lamar altogether right. And if you'd asked me Charles like a month ago I would have said no shot this. This bills offense is terrible but they've come on really strong over the last few weeks and credit where credit's due. Josh Allen has been excellent over the last few weeks Aaron shots on the show a couple of weeks ago posted this through the first five weeks. Josh had a negative twenty twenty four point. Eight percent passing diva which is very bad. Can we seven three thirteen. It's been plus six point seven. It's interesting adding to. I pulled up his numbers miss. I've always felt the COM for him. Was Cam Newton. That's where the potential was there and when you pull up their second season numbers. There's a lot of similarities. There Cam was better over the course of the whole second season. But if you narrow window for Josh to the last month and a half hour so it's very similar and you know I think there's you can put a lot of it on debacle and we'll talk about that a second but he just looks like he's developing As a quarterback he is making better decisions. He's you know a lot of times in the beginning of the season you would. He would play like a really good really great quarter or to be wouldn't put together complete game. And you make these boneheaded mistakes NOCCO through his reads tried to turn over the ball and that's gone he he just. He stopped locking into guys as much. I don't think the deep ball is perfect yet. But we're finally starting to see that line line up a bit. which given his strength would be remarkable? He's holding onto the ball less long. He's making the right pre snap. Read so if you're a bills fan you have to be thrilled with what you've seen the last few weeks. Yeah for sure and I mean that Thanksgiving game was. It was huge because I think it gave at least your casualties football fan. The idea that Josh Allen can play a little bit accurately that was his first nationally televised. Yes if you had only seen that game you probably think Josh Elvis Court cracking right so you know. I think that was big for his national image. But you know he he definitely has improved over the past. You know I think over the last eleven games. I was looking at last night historic thirteen touchdowns to just two interceptions. which is you know? It's pretty impressive. Considering the fact that he was just seen is like this incredibly raw passer. That didn't really know what he was doing. And Yeah I think one thing that you really see improved from him is. The process looks a lot easier for them in terms of playing vote. Because you know even earlier this year You know me and my friend justice. We were laughing about it. Because when I watched Josh Allen play the season we were talking about how now Josh Allen looked like. Every time he caught the pass he caught this. This is not the shotgun snap. He was almost waking up mid play like he would catch the snap and then like falsely for second and then come to and then at that point you know he's already getting sacked or pass but now it's all like there's a process to. I'M GONNA catch. Snap them and get back to my drop by drop. That boss can be out and that's that's a huge improvement over where he was earlier this here and late last year and I like the fact that he's he's kind of cut back on instead of using this. You Know Howitzer for right on me has instead instead of launching the ball seventy yards downfield. He's used to the advantage like in a media game because if if he if his receivers can get a step like like what he's done with John Brown this season or even Dawson knocks the tight end if you times if those guys can get Step he has the Armstrong rifled the ball and to just about any window and that's from a he's wondering about his own game and it's think it's been a big improvement in terms of maximizing the these efficiency on on on these past place so yeah yea I think one of my favorite throws from him. I think I think it was last week when they were playing. The dolphins in the dolphins were in cover too and he hits on Brown like in the honey hole along alongside my and I mean just forty yards across the field on a on a rail And then jump score touchdowns and you know those are the place that that really excite any fan of like no matter what your pre-draft analysis stuff was like. If you can see someone make that throw you WanNa see them. Continue to make that you know I. I hope that sounds I'm good. I'm hoping continue this because one. It'd be nice if we could. Have you know another young quarterback to get excited about as the you know. The old guard kind of moves along longer retires and to you know just anytime you can see somebody with that level of physical ability. You know. It's it's almost the same thing with Lamar you know. You WanNa see these guys maximize his skill. Because it's just they're just a blast to watch like. I don't know anyone who who didn't watch Josh Allen on on Thanksgiving and say you know that was actually pretty entertaining watching. Just rip the ball down the field they can make places flags and you know. It's almost like a over the past month or so. It's like a controlled level of chaos as planning and and it's just a blast to watch. Yeah and I did this. After the game that I thought like Brandon beane had the best offseason at which point a bunch of angry niners fans jumped into my mention but buck for buck. These signings have been incredible. You mentioned the Ravens Offensive. Line the bills of line has been right there with them and you you know. Obviously they did. Pay A lot of money for Mitch Morris but Quinton Spain John Feliciano Feliciana Feliciana..

"NFL podcast. We're crunch time. What happens when one of the hosts tries to eat a stick or cardboard or paper in general reno paper products? He's actually not in the room. I'm right now which is unusual and suspicious But we will persist because we are headed down the stretch of the NFL season. I don't mind the stretch. Technically begins but it feels like we're firmly in the stretch the air is cooling even here in Los Angeles's sixty degrees this morning. The Seattle seahawks are our ten and two and I am delighted to be joined by an old friend of the show who has a new job. He now covers the giants and jets for the New York Daily News. Welcome welcome back Charles McDonald. Thanks for having me. Yeah I've I've upgraded. We'll a bit to the pinnacle of NFL football giants and the jets who have combined six twins on the season. It's been a great experience so far you can find Charles on twitter at four verts. I've been trying to get him to use his his own picture as an Avatar for at least a year now but he has refused so far right now upgraded to a squad pick. So it's like six in my friends and we gotTA guess which one's mind that's That's a like an online dating. I hear you you too old. I missed that whole that whole boat. Well we're not gonNA talk about the jets. Sadly 'cause I think if we were coming off of a great Sam Darnold performance might force you to talk about the man. I like to call Sammy dimes. But we're going to rent a pass on that we are going to talk about the giants. CI- There's a few interesting games that I wanted to discuss One of which is I think this is actually interesting. I think the Eagles he goes are really interesting. I want to about Ravens bills. I WanNa talk about Titans raiders so up teams. We haven't really given a lot of attention to on the meantime show featuring lenny but before we get to that. Charles we've got some breaking news. Ron Rivera has been fired now. I'll just say I I think the fact that he he was like go is not incredibly surprising. What's surprising is that it happened? Now what was your first reaction. Yeah that was my takeaway you too 'cause I I don't think anyone would have been surprised. He got fired. You know on that black Monday at the end of the season but the fact that it happened now with with four games there's left the season just seemed a little odd. Because I don't I don't really see the reason for it now. I mean maybe it was just like the embarrassment of losing into Washington and the way they lost to Washington. But I don't know if you can put blame on anyone on that last play on anyone except for Kyle Allen himself. 'cause that was just it's unbelievable I don't I don't know if you will you will ever see play like that again the NFL retake a twenty three yard loss on my fourth into I thought yeah I I don't really get the timing with that that But you know I think it all points to what a lot of people have been. Speculating is Carolina's head. Headed towards like a pretty hard reset sat in the off season. And you know we're we still don't know if if Marty Hernia if he's gonNA stick around the GM but there's been all types of rumors all seasons. Maybe even before the season about Camden player for a new team next season. And you know I it feels like Ron Rivera being fired even if the time is will it was like the first step towards them. You know almost the first step towards David tepper making this franchises on I should add today's episode of e Tuesday's episode of Espn Peon daily. My other podcasts is about camps future Jeremy Fowler the guest speculates about a few teams. He might be going to chargers bears. Once you've heard before he also throughout the saints which is just incredible troll booth in a courage you tell the panthers fan in your life that that is a possibility a very unlikely possibility but a hilarious largest one nonetheless. I think you're right about all of that. I think especially deserving the blame for that loss and you look the season in some ways. It's hard to put any of this at Rivera's feat given the fact that they lost cam that he was obviously never healthy that Alan has you know turn the ball over a lot in officious moments. I will say He does deserve a lot of scrutiny. I think for the performance of this defense in certain games because that's his unit right and they have so much talent especially in that front seventh but they rank twenty third third. I think twenty first overall in defensive in thirty second against the run Charles which is shocking and I think Darius guys tweeted tweeted. Sorry Ron Rivera which is really not very nice So I think that you know would be the one reason why a a I would put a little bit more of this at his feet. I wonder if maybe they fired him early to give him a shot. Like he's the guy who in the same way. I think people were saying about McCarthy when he was fired midseason obviously didn't happen but Rivera's a guy where I think you're going to hear a lot of rumors about him going from this job immediately to another head coaching position. Yeah I think so too and you make a good point about the defense because I I mean. We talked before the season about how good their front seven was and I. I don't know if anyone expecting them to be as bad as runners. They've been I mean not not just bad but like you said you know. Probably the worst run defense in the League when you have all that front seven talent and you know Luke keithly. I don't think he's the. Yeah the unquestioned. Best Linebacker in the league like people used to consider him but he's still a good player. And you know Shaq Thompson Cohen Short Gerald McCoy. You know they have the the big names of front pages. Hasn't translated a lot of production that front seven so I I'm not sure. How much of the blame he? He's together for that. I obviously as a defensive guy he does. There's deserve some blame. Their past their pass defense has been like inconsistent. If you just look at the raw adjusting just yards per attempt. I think their fifth in League right now Giving a five point two just yards per attempt but if you look at their expected points on Pro Football reference there actually in the negative and I think the only only team the top five pass defense that has a negative expected points. So it's almost like they're giving these big plays and at some point that has to fall back on the guy who who's getting distinct organizing you. They tried to make a little bit of an adjustment by releasing respond. Gold golden who they picked in the third round last year That wasn't really working out for them. But they're they're kind of stuck in this place especially now that the the quarterback future of quarterback situations. I'm certain where where they're stuck in between like trying to win now and also bill for the future and you know when you get stuck in this situation. Does he usually just smart to hit the reset button and you know Rivera. I had a good run. I mean nine seasons to coach of the year awards You know you got to Super Bowl wants to even saw can win the MVP like it's a good run but you know nothing in in the NFL last forever. Unless you're the Patriots a by the way I was thinking as we were talking about how oh you and I spoke about this team before the season and how excited I was about the front seven they were having going undergoing scheme change but even with all that talent and you think okay. Maybe they're her sacrificing stopping the run at the expense of a pass rush but they actually nineteen in our pass rush win rate which is way too low for the level of talent in that unit unit so but does feel like a reset is afoot. I gotta think moving on from Rivera and one would think given who David temporaries the language you just put. No doubt about the organizational changes that are didn't say anything about her knee. But you gotta think he's kind of a forward thinking guy you know who's more likely to maybe take an analytical approach so one would think that they're going to kind of rip the band aid and also thinks this probably makes it more likely that they're gonNA move on from Cam with Rivera and potentially hearn gone so interesting changes afoot in Carolina Sea pine the panthers really something that needed to be said to myself allowed on this podcast. But we're not talking about the Glorious Win. I WANNA WANNA start Charles with a a good game the best game because the other two. I said these are all interesting games but I think you can quibble with whether the other two games we're gonNA talk about are like great games right but there's more so teams that are unlike the playoff fringes. I WanNa talk about but two teams that are probably undeniably. I think they're both now the ravens are. I don't know about the bills if they've locked it in yet. I pull that up but the ravens bills is. He's one of the best games of the weekend. Two quarterbacks who were both heavily scrutinized coming out of the draft one who went a lot earlier within the other in Josh Allen. A Ravens team that we have talked about a lot on this podcast. Let's start there because I have a lot to talk about what the bills and I really wanted to the bills offense and I haven't talked about enough on this podcast but I want to ask you first about the Ravens Charles. They just played. I want I would call it. The pre super bowl super bowl yet but they played the niners and it was like a really great. It was to me while I wasn't the most exciting game. Obviously the two best teams Duke. It out do you think that's fair. Yeah I've got fair in your e even in that torrential central downpour like they steal the show like okay. I I don't know if the forty niners are GONNA make it to Super Bowl I think right now I feel more confident in the Ravens Making Super Bowl in the forty niners. Because I mean there's a chance that the forty niners might not even get a home game in the playoffs 'cause they can still end up with the fifth seed But but when you watch that that definitely felt like okay these are the two heavyweights in the NFL. Where you have Lamar Jackson now going to get the forty thirty nine? They are power. Take money it is. I don't hero. What we there's no-one no-one knocking I don't know if it's something you said maybe quibbles with the idea that these are the two best teams in the NFL NFL? Leave that in Dan yet you you will tell me what you saw Lamar in this game and we should add. This was like a horrible weather conditions which clearly influenced both teams abilities to pass him. What what what's Lamar? It was one of the things that got me excited for him. Coming out of out of Louisville because I remember in the Mars last game I I Louisville. They're playing Mississippi state than a ballgame and Lamar threw four interceptions in that game. I want to say because I remember he. He like like almost doubled his season. Total interception that one game and you know he's still gives them a chance to win at the end of the game because he was just so good at running the ball and maximizing every opportunity that he got on the ground. And that's that's the field that I got again in that game against the forty niners where this ravens team. Their their offense is so unique and so diverse where they're one of the few teams where if the pass game isn't working there run games good enough to keep them in just about every single game and you know luckily for them and it was a little bit of a low scoring game for them so at the end They replicate that field goal. But they can there they can play you in just about any way you know if if they want to run up the score they opportunities we. We saw back to back weeks against the Texans. The Ramsey can do that and Lamar just gives you so much like room for error. Your offense began..

"Your avengers of College Football Wall podcast. It says in the script onto riff on what that means and basically what I mean is. It's all spoiled every Tuesday. And then like mascot fights announcers fleeing the early. And unfashionable. Pants that coaches. Here's where now if you want to take college football exactly as seriously as it should be taken. Subscribe for free on Apple podcasts or in your favorite podcast APP okay. So Dallas Cowboys lose their six and six and everybody is pissed off and everybody wants Jason Garrett fired there are four games left in the season the cowboys or six thousand six the Philadelphia Eagles are five and six. They will travel to take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday this week. Even if they a wind cowboys will still be in first place in the NFC east And they still can win the division and if you win the division you get to the playoffs and who knows what can happen there. I mean you know we've scene weird teams when the Super Bowl and I'm not saying that I think the Super Bowl but it is possible but a lot of people thought and a lot of people asked you know if the cowboys lose to the bills. They get destroyed. Is that enough for jury to fire Jason Gary and Jerry Jones speaking with the media after the game apparently with tears in his eyes at one point said that now is not the time that he really thinks and hopes and believes perhaps hopes more than anything that can go on run. And this'll be something that people are talking about in thirty years is whatever hope is a dangerous thing. I think a lot of times in life. I don't know how I feel about this because I honestly don't know what good comes from mm fire and Jason Garrett with four games left other than scratching that itch and again because people say promote Chris Rashard. I don't get why I mean the secondary secondary so bad who promote Rod Marinelli. Why I mean the defense is so bad? I don't know that there's anybody on the staff that they would be a better overall group under if they did win the division. Yeah No I. I don't subscribe to Leading Garrett go right now I mean you know you're you're stuck with him through the end the season you know. No you got four games left at three courts. Three quarters of the season is done so you don't it's not even fair to bring anybody else in under this type of duress. I mean this is a arrested. Jason created you know and anybody if anybody can get out of it. It's going to have to be him you know. Because you've gone this far with his methodologies at the dollar Jeez and you know there's nobody can come in here and within the span of a week turn you around so that you just go on around for the next four games and then through the tournament if you make tournament so but I do feel like You know his His disposition was cemented. Today I do think that You know it's not going to bode well for him at the end of the season You know let's go and win the Super Bowl which right now looks very very very distant but But no I agree with you. I think that They need to just hold with him. Stay the course and get the most. They can Out of him. But you know I think the writings on the wall and I think Jerry's going to be able to make certain statements that would indicate that and you know at least satisfy those is that Are are pushing for that very aggressively And then you know they got some work to do in the off season to bring someone in 'cause I agree with you. There's no one on that sideline that can do the job. It's just it's I can't remember. I hope I'm not just being a prisoner of the moment. I can't remember a team that was in that sort of awkward situation. You know what I mean. Because typically when teams fire coaches in the middle of the season or when when a team reaches a point where that's necessary which you you can certainly make the argument that the cowboys have they. Are you know so bad. That they're like look the Redskins Assisi and when they fired grooming. They're so bad they're out of contention etc.. It's a weird eared conundrum. It's it's a rock and a hard place type thing and I think it's a little bit. Maybe personal just say. Let's just fire him now. Because you're pissed pissed off because you're upset because I don't know I mean it it it. It's a weird way to be. I got a message from a twitter user. cephlon I pronouncing that correctly at Steph Wan to kitty or tooked. Excuse me to the point. We raised earlier about the team. Never having quit on Garrett and I've I've said that before because I believed that before and I believe now that they never have until today may be quit on him they always bounce back. You look at the way. They beat the eagles season bounce. Back the Austin the jets. They bounced back up the loss of the Vikings win to beat the lions this. I'm curious if you agree because you've seen every game to this. Felt like them giving up. You know like that drive from the bills in the third quarter to go kind of effectively. I sit down for like the defense that are you know what would on. We're out of this. You know that that felt like mentally mentally checking out which we have not seen from them. Before I agree on I think that It also gave me the indication that Garett no no longer has control of the team. aside from them You know now. I'm not saying everybody on there but there was You know some level of of A you know. Checking out or disengagement from certain players But I also feel like he has no control. You know still clapping at you. Know near the the end of this game you know just that in of itself and maybe that's an uncontrollable type of you know. Just habit that he has. I think that's just that's his like you you know. That's his routine like the clapping has always bothered me. I've never found that to be like a clever in salt. And I know you're not like calling into clap or anything but no it's such a laney thing it's a elaine thing but it you know it resonates loudly. I think you know that the players are like dude. I mean come on you know and I think it's it's almost like the players are are asking for some type of you know Repercussions like acting out kind of some type of scolding. You know that even they understand you a you know is warranted and yet it doesn't calmer doesn't happen you know it doesn't Seem like it's going to happen but again I'm not saying that scolding or you know Taking negative reinforcement to its maximum. Limits is what's needed here. But you know there's something different needed than would what than what Jason Garrett is providing providing well on that subject. That's a great segue so professional segue look at you but So there was video that emerged as the cowboys. And if you don't no I mean as soon as the game I mean they bolt for the locker room. I mean sometimes some guys were out there you know they swapped jerseys whatever. It is very very very fast. Jerry usually goes in first. I was Stephen. Jason Garrett comes in shortly after the players. They all kind of trickle in and because they're trickling into doors opening and closing. Sometimes you can hear you know celebrating or just whatever whatever general talking and so there was reported by the local media that there was a cowboys player yelling from within the locker room screaming and lots. That's of you know well. This person wasn't in there yet clues trying to be figured out and John showed it from the athletics. We did a video we wrote about it. Blogging the boys. You can go see the video and it. It took about thirty minutes in the aftermath of the game but the person was identified by the Dallas morning. News Michael BALCON. It was Michael Bennett. That was the the person yelling in the cowboys. Locker Room. Now Michael Bennett. Played His six game with the cowboys on Thanksgiving Day During his time he is three and three as a member of the cowboys aloys. I had to take that. I think it's good for Michael Bennett. Good for Michael Bennett. Having had enough and realizing he you know there should be more. You know whatever ver- maybe he's not getting that from gear like you're saying maybe he wants to get it from somebody else. Michael Bennett Super Bowl. You know he's been part of a great culture that the seahawks had in two thousand thirteen The Legion of boom etc.. What are your thoughts? I mean on on a someone yelling in general and be that it was Michael Bennett specifically well. I I think that You know prostration needs to be vented I You know think Michael Bennett. You know may a you know. I had to guess of the the Of the players on the team I probably would have said it might not have been him. But you know I mean it's surprising in its own in its own sands but You know good for him that's You know where where this team is going to go. Then they need some you know maybe You know leadership from the bottom up if it's not coming from the top down home and You know so yeah I hope that it resonates. I hope it was a good message. Rather than just you know A bunch of you know just venting right take it out on someone because you know I I don't I wouldn't subscribe necessarily to just venting out loud but you know we had certain message attached to that you know like you're saying maybe something that you know. Well you know we were this at this point. You know when I was in Seattle to Canada. Sow whatever you on everything so it had a message like that even even more More credit to him but again you know it was just venting than maybe I'm on a on a little bit different You know fence there but but no I mean something thing needs to change because you keep doing the same thing over and over. You're going to keep getting the same result. So yeah you know maybe this is the start of something. Well isn't that what Pe- that's the cliche. Okay that's the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again when the acting different rewrite and that's kind of what the couch doing I mean it's it's who they goes back to to the the burning of Atlanta Jerry called in the chaz green game you know they settled tyrants down Chaz Green. You GotTa do you gotTa you gotTa beat your man you got into. It doesn't work Douay do you. GotTa you gotTa scheme things you gotTa take advantage. You got to manipulate situations. That's what good coaches do. This with. Sean McDermott did against him and he took them away at the most embarrassing Harrison woman. The trick play. I mean they see like and that's why I think it comes back to this. Roster is not what we thought it was Jason Garrett deserves all all the blame you WanNa give him and I'm not saying that he doesn't but Jason Garrett's not the one getting fooled in that moment Jason Garrett's not the guy ripping off Beazley's helmet Jason Garrett's not doing certain things so while Jason Good deserves believe me more than his fair share of the pie here of blame I mean this roster has crumbled a little bit this is the accent you know demarcus Lawrence has been good people wanna give them credit because he's not Robert Quimby Jalen Smith has been disappointing lane. Vander obviously was hurt in play this game but when he has played has been disappointing joining really bad. The secondary has been disappointing. I mean you know it's it's a defense and at times an offense. I mean this offense. Through the third quarter only had one touchdown and at that point they only had one touchdown through their previous seven quarters because they in score single one against the New England patriots. I mean they wilt in their biggest moments and and a lot of that is coaching. But it's I don't think it's fair to only blame Jason Garrett and whoever else I think you have to put your fair share blame on the players as well..

"Are Joe Paolino me of course from BTV and from right here is your host on the Ocho. It is Thursday. Might might be listening to this on Friday so November twenty eighth or twenty ninth two thousand nineteen. It's our official post game episode for The Dallas Cowboys. Thanksgiving Day game. A loss cost the buffalo bills. Twenty six fifteen. I am not alone I am joined by one of the only my best friend himself. Papa Ocho what is up my dude. Happy Thanksgiving happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone. Yeah I mean Was it happy. I mean there's a lot to be thankful for. God has blessed blessed with a lot of things you know life is great in you know. Bountiful bound that bountiful plentiful whatever But from a football perspective not a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving for sure Yeah that was definitely The low point of day and You know so what we had a fantastic time otherwise but yeah. Let's talk about this. I mean I think it needs to be talked about so Full disclosure here Recording this this after the game on Thanksgiving traveling family and everything. So there's some weird noises some dogs barking and doing what we can but we gotta make sure. This conversation happens This was a game where it felt like Jason Garrett's career was on the line Were this era of the Dallas. Cowboys is on the line. I know that people are hesitant to call. What an era whether you liked it or not? This has been an era of America's team Jason Gert I mean not directly at least to our knowledge given any sort of ultimatum win win or else but Jerry Jones challenging him saying I want to win some damn football games. You know we've got to turn around. I mean really really really kind of you know latching onto that message message this past week and this was the worst loss. We've seen in the DAKYNS Zeke era when they both played The cowboys got blown out in two thousand seventeen by the eagles roles on November twelfth that year but did not play. He was suspended for that to come out and not just lose. But I mean to get routed I know the score is in you know super route looking but it was not a game I mean the couch came out really strong on their first possession in just cratered. I mean the bills had their way with them in for for Jason Garrett to know this was his time I mean that says a lot. I I've said before we've talked about before you know you and I we talk all the time and you'll be talk on here. The hallmark quality trademark quality of his teams has been that they never quit on him and they looked a lot like they quit on Thanksgiving. Yeah that's true they They were dejected. I think Looked really happy after that first drive and then a some the air just came out of them it was. It was interesting to watch on happened. Slowly at it happened. The you know as they started to implode uh-huh and obviously it didn't happen. You know from one drive to another. It was just a series of drives at you. Saw You know the dismantling going on in uh-huh conversely you saw the bills Gaining confidence and trying to turn out yardage You saw Josh Allen of making some good reads and you know I it was just you know really interesting to watch You know one team sucked the momentum out of the other and You know all the while a lot of those things were you know maybe not predictable but you know you just said wow you know. There's there's really some some Some other elements involved here. Like you said you know Jason Garrett Probably you know trying to muster what. He cannot have his team but I don't I'm not so sure they were all there. They're physically but I don't know if they were there. Mentally Emotionally And so you know just got worse I by the moment. I wonder how much Hubris went into this game for the cowboys. You know they were seven and a half point favorites by a lot of oddsmakers You know everybody took them all the pregame shows. It's the cowboys it's the bills. Everybody was talking about the super bowls and whatnot. I mean I wonder how much they I thought even in the funk that they were in Oh we just we lost last week because it was the Patriots. You know the weather. Yeah you know. We'll go out. We'll we'll just show you you know we'll get back on track. We'll we'll beat the bills and you know kind of tried to win this. And they ran into a team that was really ready to kind of announce themselves at the world. I mean I don't know you know it was a tweet. From RJ choppy greatly named RJ choppy from the fan and his point was and I agree with it and I got killed hoped this for this on twitter. His point was we need to acknowledge. I'm not at all taking away from the coaching staff. Because that's clearly a problem but this is not the talented team that we've boasted. Everyone is the top five teams a top five team. There are top five qualities but this team has been overrated by all of us and I think that that was really really really obvious Thursday. It was it was a email still poor execution on many facets of the game poor discipline supplant. I mean we saw them Yank off You know Kobe's lease helmet You know was that woods right. Yeah Xavier was. Yeah so I mean how can you lack that much discipline. You know the guys clearly down and he just run up and Yank his helmet off. I mean you know again it. It does Smell of you know. Just the lack of discipline and and the discipline comes from coaching. And you know I. It's so much of You know what we saw today Centers around you know some type hype of Coaching Miscue or Coaching Oversight or coaching gap. If you will and you know I it just. It's almost sad to watch watch. It is said and I know that everybody listening and reading and following commenting fire Garrett fire environment and look I get and I hate having that conversation because it's I. I would feel really badly if somebody was rooting for me to get fired. You know what I mean And so but that's the reality of his job. I get that it's just you know it feels a little mean spirited but I think it's. It's very obvious that he is no longer fit to be the head coach. The cowboys Before we talk specifically about Gary because there's a lot there what players here is. Are you the most disappointed with dad. Had A horrible day. I mean you know. Dacca's had a lot of bright moments this season and I think the only reason the cowboys were even remotely in the game was because of Dak but dad had a horrible game. Sean Lee was awful. Jalen Smith was awful. Excessive your woods was bad. cheetos bad I mean you know just it was good. I mean who stood out for good reason. Well you know. I think you mentioned six or seven players on the defense in the I would just you know Lump them all into one group that defense in its entirety was bad They didn't show any intent to you. Know I assault of Tweets and Inside Chore. People were saying no. They're not they're not playing for an interception they're playing you know just minimize the yardage that they are acknowledging uh-huh is already going to be gained on them and you know it's it's a different mindset. It's different game and and that's where again you know. Our as is at the trainings at the coaching. They're being taught or or you know what is being taught to them. But but yeah I would say the the D. as a whole was very disappointing Mono and I'd say that the DAX performance was Probably may be is worser second worse this year. So you mentioned that it was We've only seen the game wants. Nobody watches yet But I think it was like third and twenty third and twenty three in the defense gave up fifteen yards and literally just surrendered the field goal. They you got lucky. That Stephen House missed it But on the subject of that the I think the microcosm for wide many people feel Jason Guard has to go with the way. The cowboys handled their final possession. In the first half it was very obvious that they played for field goal. They went into the locker room with a time out. For no reason there was no real emergency to try to go score a touchdown they WANNA score fuel. They kicked him the right Hash Mark. which is the bad hash mark for Brett Maher? I mean you know it's conservative. It's conservative and I think it strange that you know thirty minutes before that we saw Jason Greer Gulford on fourth in short from his own twenty. You know I don't I don't know I mean I find it just amazing. Forget what what his job is. But the Jason Garrett can know that his job is on the line and he can still you know refute being aggressive. You know what I mean like like I just I feel like even if that is something that he so directly opposes fundamentally the fact that his jobs on the line has to you know has to make him say. I've got to do this literally. Do this to survive. I mean how can he just you know what I mean like. It's the most frustrating thing to think about. Yeah and you know as you mentioned and you referenced the you know going forward inside his own twenty And the camera got a glimpse of him. He looked so uncomfortable. So concerned on that play. Hey you know I it just took him completely out of his element and I think that You know that that explains why you know he went for the field where you have to get back into his comfort zone. which is you know? The conservative game grinded out. Run it out. You know going you know. Make a field goal and you know. Shoot shoot immunity if you make an analogy to golf. You're always playing for par- And that's not going to win in this league anymore and You know so so that was yeah really Disappointing to see and to watch and you know but on the offensive side of the ball I would say I'm disappointed in the offensive line I'm I'm not that they started out and they did. Well you know the first drive blowing out holes for Zeke. Someone on the bills. Defensive side made some adjustments in that went away But then you know dad was having to run for his life and again. I said you know He. This may have been one of his worse Or second worst games of the year but he was running for his life on every play So that breakdown on the offensive line you know we reference last week you know maybe there are some kinks and that armor but You know it isn't isn't what it used to be and you know so that you know again. I'm not taking it away from Dag but it does take you out of your own element of your having to run for your life every every play Got Got a lot of questions about this on twitter. For the podcast about Brent Maher and I mean see Brett Maher is I want we want. I want to get to the Gareth thing. But the thing specifically but the conundrum was Garrett right now in terms of firing him with four games left is that you are still in first place. You know you you you can still go to the play offs and there is some logic whether you agree with it or not that you're better with him than you are with any sort of interim and again I want to have that discussion. A second can. But with Brent Maher. It's he's kicked. What the three longest field goals in franchise history? He's won a couple of games recently. But you know when he's bad kinda like chasing that so bad and you know I honestly I don't feel badly for Brett Maher at this point. I mean I feel like he is responsible. Certainly I mean. And he's not doing his job in terms of making kicks but Jason Garrett is the one who has kept him around. You know they've known this the the he is wildcard sort of kicker and they've kept him around they lost us by what nine points today. I mean had they had those six points. I mean who knows what happens. You know. It's a whole different game and everything and whatnot but I mean I think it is time time to find a new kicker but I think it's been down to new kicker so I don't think they're going to do anything about this. No they're not in that. Their philosophy with bread has been you know okay. We're we're giving you the assurance that you're not going anywhere and that should take a little bit of the pressure off of you. Just go out there and do your thing and yet He has not been able to deliver on that. And you know so I think that was kind of the same message. And maybe the whole philosophy of the organization Jerry's like saying in public You know I'm not GonNa do anything with Garrett throughout the season to maybe again take that off of his mind. But you know that philosophy isn't working either with Brent or with Garrett Other questions were about Zeke. Is there any buyer's remorse. I mean you know an I thought Zeke looks great early on. I mean I think the whole often sub-grade early on you know we were talking ahead tweet that aged really poorly and said me because it did feel that way it felt like okay. The cowboys they spent all this week here in all this talk all this trash. Whatever they're going to come out they're gonNA flex its muscle and they look great? But Zeke Zeke and I don't think Zeke it was on one that wilted away they all wilted away. But I think if you are feeling buyer's remorse for Zeke off of this game. I don't know that that's fair. I think it was fair to start feeling that a while back just because paying a running back has such a weird idea in two thousand nineteen..

"Muller report now now is because that didn't come out when it happened so if people ask you like well. What are these hearing just a do over? It's not and it's especially not since when the findings findings the mole report came out they were precluded by not precluded they were preempted and spun by a corrupt attorney general so that's kind of where we're at now so the people have said some remedies for this appoint. A special counsel never going to happen to be appointed by the attorney general plus. We'll take so long yeah and do you WanNa wait. I don't want to this belongs in Congress. another thing you can do is criminal contempt but again that's a referral department of Justice they aren't going to do that. I don't think anything that goes has to go up through bill bars a dent and you know deny acting criminally you know that's okay yeah true that would be hard to prove especially since he got information and direction from the DOJ and the White House and to not report so he was under direction I'm not sure how he can square following lawful order but he's got the wreck sent it it would make a criminal case very hard then we have inherent contempt and this is an old thing thing and somebody put a big threat out about it like when he when he comes in the DNA night in on September twenty six they should demand the thing here's here's the secret demanded Manda thing if he doesn't give over the thing say do you refuse to give over the thing if he says I refuse to give over the thing now the sergeant and arms detained him and and incarcerate him until L. he agrees to give over the thing and apparently that's something called inherent contempt that the Congress has how likely is that at zero but so it is interesting that it exists so the idea would be they. Would you know frog walk him to the there. Is this quaint little jail salad salad like out of Andy of mayberry or something but in the in the actual pit of of of the Congress and Congress has so but it hasn't been used in over one hundred years you know it's not it's one of these things that have fallen prey to sway it too with fancy legal term for just this misuse but for that very reason itself would would be prey to so many legal challenges says and the like basically it's considered a dead letter a quaint footnote of history forget that one yeah I think the argument for people who you want it though is that Oh really so it's not used that often it's not in the norm or it's not you know common what about the nine million things that trump has done that are not common not in the norm and haven't been used ever for example like I say the temptation and the thirty second fun of having deny marched into this little jail but takes Corpus Mark Martin into that little jail right you mean you could you can detain them in any any what this means when when when you talk about inherit contempt untapped is literally Congress's power to kind of act as an executive at once and that means they jail. I'm an in their little at least that's what it has always meant. The how else are they going to detain them. Hold them by you know gunpoint in the well. It wasn't somebody at a hotel wasn't somebody detained at a hotel for awhile detention and and I I mean any time somebody is prevented from leaving. They are technically detained but you know if you're actually using inherent contempt you are incarcerating that person and by the way that's exactly what Habeas Corpus is four and you know and they would go to the judge. Bring me the body and Maguire would be out by nighttime. dammit limit that wanted you sounded so good yeah then there's something called Man Damis third I if I might because there's always three ways of going with contempt the first one the judicial review yeah but when that is I mean it's been for a while that the executive has said even though the statute seems to say when you referred to us we have to respond. They've said we don't you can't constrain our discretion that way. It's been for over one hundred years. Inherent contempt is a dead letter so the way these always go. Oh is you hold someone in contend this what happened to Harriet Myers. This is what happened to Eric holder and fast and furious you hold someone in contempt based on that finding of contempt you bring an action in the district court that that is not only viable but the only viable but the the much exercised option and the sort of more likely one criminal contempt right you fight you go there you say this guy's in contempt unless he does. XYZ Here's the order of Congress that he is refusing and the District Court says Yep looks like he's in contempt which is a little bit elevated. It's a little bit he's. He knows that he's done on purpose. ETC Yuppies in contempt you have to do this and there aren't criminal penalties. It's true but the but the courts ordered the release of AH release again is so important here ordered the transmission to the Intelligence Committee chair of the complaint now is this separate from shift filing a lawsuit to force the deny to hand it over or is this the same it's short answer is it's the same now tam word and and so we can see different forms that the that the lawsuit could take but when people say file a lawsuit that's what they mean and of course in that lawsuit the executive cutive branch can assert its privilege or whatever article two defenses and can actually come forward with not in the abstract but actually actually what why this complaint presents classified information or whatever it would be reviewed in camera by a court but yes the short answer is when people say say. Why doesn't we'll shift sue this is the kind of suit that's been brought in the ways and means committee in the dust up and the and the like but plot is there? Is there another option for the lawsuit and you've mentioned mandate mass. There's been chatter about that on twitter. It seems right again. It sounds really cool does it. I I WANNA get a man damus wrapped in an inherent contempt totally and and eat it and listeners the nurse of Muller. She rode who who already have the equivalent of a least a year of law school may already know that's the action that was in Marbury very versus Madison an order to you know this is non-discretionary. You have to do it. you have to give Marbury his commission. We want rid of Man Damis which is basically an order that says you know just do this and the famous ruling in Marbury versus Madison was yeah. It seems like a good case case for Mandela's but we supreme court camp. Bring it because the statute doesn't the statute purports to give us appellate jurisdiction that conflicts with the Constitution a toossion constitution rules hodge additional review is instituted even as the the other side wins. That's a that's a quick detour but back here mandate miss. It sounds good non-discretionary. It seems like what it's for. It's really funky is very rarely used and it it has to you have to show all kinds of ways in which other paths can't be taken under the so-called all writs act and I can just tell you that that it is not straight forward it would be tied up in all lot of arcane. Constitutional challenge is not about whether it lies mandates but whether it's a proper vehicle here and that might wind up taking more time than everything else so for my shifts council and by the way he's got a great rate one doug lighter who came over from the Department of Justice. My advice would be do the the what is now the Plain Vanilla contempt route in the district court down the loss contempt lawsuit exemplify contempt because on that Su because then you can just get quick to a court order to turn it over Appeal Appeal Appeal Back Down Back Down Court order. You have to hand over the stuff. He hasn't said you can get quick. I think that's right but then Nola quicker it quicker than man Damis well prob- It depends whether mandate miss would be tied up in in constant in different kinds of arguments. I just WANNA say trump exactly right quick order but then you quit or appeal appeal appeal and and then you get it I think it's really quick order heels appeal and I'm sure I'm sure they will file to hit the schedule faster based on the urgency or whatever additition for certain and everything and maybe it is asserted worthy issue so we really are again talking about I think as fast as we go but we are again talking about months in the meantime however we'll get it all by Thursday Thursday well the the the day in day out the information is coming and there's the possibility journal presented in another way hey and actually forming a true impeachment here. I mean there's there's a scenario here. Were the house judiciary. Committee boom uses this to vote out articles of impeachment and either no trial occurs because you know be or at least a formal impeachment resolution does the big big thing we've been waiting for forever and the sons of bitches in the Senate. Excuse me I don't do this on my own. podcast down to the Senate. Republicans have to are forced to take some position are forced to in them fan. This instead of being silent that I think is becoming a political imperative. I think think this episode has shifted me as it were over to the Nadler shift side and away from the Pelosi side it's time and politically sound given even this for an impeachment resolution and you're saying to go boom articles of impeachment or boom resolution to open a formal impeachment inquiry. I simply saying the well I I mean you gotTa. Go methodically but I'm saying yeah I mean I think it is impeachable. You voted out. Maybe with other things and again tribe. Has this interesting position. That doesn't doesn't mean you have to have a trial but I don't know I think a trial here is now salutary because I want Senate Republicans and I think both the politic small people at but also for the body politic. It's really useful and important to make them respond. It's it's just ridiculous Dick. It's December eighth nineteen forty. One and half of the Senate is staying silent. What the Hell is their answer to this presidential conduct doc yeah and I and to either get that information to vote on the articles of impeachment more quickly than all these other remedies that's right will either get it from journalists or maybe maybe shift might subpoenaed them and provide immunity? That could be a way to get pretty pretty fast. He'll cooperate but let them let them try to challenge whether the facts happened. I don't think that's a very good argument for them. All right I agree well. Thank you so much. Everybody check out the feds pod with our good friend here former US attorney former Deputy Assistant Attorney General Harry Littman. Ag and with me today or Lisa Johnson Johnson and Jordan Coburn. I know thank you to Seattle again for the warm hospitality and for sharing your amazing city with us. We had such a good time when we were there. Yeah it was awesome. I love of that city. I WanNa live there one day. I definitely do want to move there some day. It didn't work out this time but I I think at some point my life I definitely want to live there so neat there and everyone's just playing good music all the time yes crazy. It's a really good music town and they're like hipsters but they're not knowing about it. They're right there. Just like this is how we live. you know everybody's good looking yeah but not unlike an. La Don't just good looking people anyway. Thanks Seattle. We do have another podcast daily morning. News show called the daily beans so please subscribe to that we'll be pulling it out of the molar. She wrote feed soon and we don't want you to think we disappeared we also have a special series unpacking the redacted Muller report page by page that comes out Thursday's so check that out as well and if you follow daily beans on twitter at daily beans pod you'll be automatically entered to win dinner with myself and our network. CEO for you and a a friend and we will fly to your city anywhere in the lower forty eight and we'll be picking a winner once we hit twenty thousand followers so follow us at daily beans pod. You'll be glad you did so this is a heavy heavy Newsweek we pack show including an interview with former. US Attorney and Deputy Assistant Attorney General who now hosts the talking feds pod Mr Harry Littman Edmund he'll be joining us and we have a lot to cover but I my favorite segment corrections you say oh I made a mistake aw so Jonathan Edmund says in response to an episode daily beans this week in today's beans. AG expressed frustration with apple over refusing to unlock iphones owns. This is I think in reference to the amber no terrorist incident the F. B. I wanted to help unlocking the device and apple refused the reporting on this case was never fair. Apple will always respond to warrant and share I cloud backups but they won't share tools for cracking iphones so the FBI had brought the phone to an apple store it would have backed up to cloud an apple would have provided the data so you get that. FBI just go to the ice depth last door that easy YEP interesting apple store. They don't call it the store do they. I don't think so but they should yeah why don't okay whatever wow like the apple watch yeah. He's like to mix it up. Every now that's true. It's not called the I watch yeah. That's that's creepy. Yeah I watch they might have actually yeah that's not gonNA next. That's bad a piece of fruit that has is remember the comedian but he's like I wonder if they will make like the Apple II patch that was pretty fun just a patch shaped like an apple for pirates appleton's Brenno the Seppo says trump steaks were sold exclusively at the sharper image and QVC home shopping networks so weird to knew you couldn't get them. It wasn't really a correction just a hey. Didn't you know I didn't even know they sold food. No and that's weird right yeah. Just massage shooting sell food. I think that's the point right. It's like that can't be good next to the yeah what are they. They had things that you just had to get but never would have thought about getting it until you went into the sharper image right and they're also like nine billion dollars yeah right right right yeah so that if I if I had to think of the least innovative food in the world it would be steak which thing doesn't belong there selling. It's the least sharp image yeah maybe like beyond Burgers or something that would make sense impossible ever can meet you grow in your sink right or burger alarm clock that also is a bank somehow exactly that you can only use in one of their patented massage chairs and if it gets wet game over anti Riley says Arab versus Arabic in Chapstick Dick Insecure. AG mentions the Arabic polling stations in Israel Arabic should only be used in referring to the Arabic language Arab should be used basically anywhere else Sarab Food Arab people Arab neighbors etc so I didn't know that so good thank you for telling me and nobody's sent the memo to re Giuliani about the Ukraine no he did not. I heard that yeah I was like oh I two guy if our listeners hadn't told us I wouldn't have known so I imagine a lot of other people probably don't think about it but I was like okay okay ready. Go Rudy Ukraine right okay so don't don't don't do that. Don't go really SH- she also says I will note that most Arabs identify more with their nationality or tribe than their race so it may be better to say Palestinian polling stations it also it's also important to remember. The Arabs in the West Bank can't vote only those in Israel can wow just like that he up so close Leonard Grossman says his court justice is impeached that would end his life tenure on your I say he because I can't imagine either of the women in the court ever being impeached. I think there's three justices can induce it from time to time on lower courts. I believe even some retired tired justices have done so their pay continues after they retire for Scotus by the way but if impeach their pay stops this is true for both Goethe's justices and judges on the lower federal courts so thank you cool Diana tea and Jeff Tolan say I've heard you say twice that there's only four emoluments in the constitution but there's a domestic emoluments clause clauses well we we corrected this during dailies but I wanted to bring it up in this show too in your last beans podcast you discussed the issues of US Air Force stays at the trump turnberry hotel you briefly mentioned the emoluments clause then dismiss it because the clause you thought only applied to foreign governments but there is a second emoluments clause article two section one clause seven which limits the president salary and says the president cannot receive any other emoluments from the United States so the issue remains alive. a w also pointed this out saying the crew case that we discussed is a domestic emoluments case. That's so cool I think our fans are just the smartest people ever because like they're so detailed with their sources that sometimes I think Muller Ariss secretly correcting through something is yeah article as section reliable. Sometimes I think they're the source there the Muller's like they just knew. They just knew Oh yeah very intelligent. I'm all for it. Hey School me yeah. Blow me away and those are this week's corrections. If you have any corrections head to the militia wrote Dot Com click on contact and select corrections. Let us know if you want to remain anonymous otherwise shot yeah. We'll get it right eventually. Nice that was one of the are more relevant correction segments. Yes there was a legal correction in there yeah usually like colors and pronunciation. Those are fun to Jif or gift. That's that's still ongoing and it's it's funny when it comes up on twitter too because people will die on that hill all right. Let's jump into the news time for just the facts so the whistleblower scandal has been unfolding all week and I will go over that in hot notes assist around for that and we also have Harry Littman who's GonNa talk about legal remedies for for the whistle blower complaints to come to light or to get to Congress. Oh definitely poke a stick around for that last week we learned that the Manhattan District Attorney Cy Advance had subpoenaed eight years of tax returns from trump and his accounting firm mazaar not from trump directly but from his accounting firm Czars this is in relation to the hush money payments because the DA is investigating whether the trump organization or its executives broke New York state law when they falsified their business records to show they paid Cohen for legal work as opposed to reimbursing him for making hush money any payments to trump's campaign to the mistresses which helped trump's campaign. It's what Cohen's in jail for right now this week as expected trump is suing to block doc that discovery and the court put a temporary restraining order on czars to prevent them from handing over the information until the matter is resolved in court trump's argument is that because the president can't be indicted did he can't be subject to the criminal process to include subpoenas and they're basing this argument on the Federal Office of Legal Counsel memo that disallows the indictment of a sitting president. This is exactly what Muller argued in his report saying that federally he could not draw a traditional prosecutorial conclusion about obstruction of justice because given that trump can't be indicted it is unfair to accuse him of a crime because one he doesn't have the traditional criminal process to defend himself through and to because doing so could taint future prosecutions that that he would otherwise be subject to meaning when he leaves office so trump is using muller's argument to protect himself and I feel dirty about it but this is a state case and it's not subject to the Federal Office Legal Counsel Memo I'm certain court will order the taxes or the documents be handed over from Ms Ours but in his filing trump also also said that his crimes can't be investigated because he's the President you're what you're what yes currency I am a very interesting observation there Eiji your what can't be Investigaton who would say that criminal would say that that's who said investigate murders high would come out at least not in most cases trumpy wow yeah fantastic. You know I would think they would have gone with some other arguments. I maybe just not to jump to the thing who the only has any legitimacy in the realm of this one memo otherwise you're going down. That's basically the two you options there. Let's so let's just you can't investigate my crimes your what on an interesting note in a letter to the judge from the DA DA appears to be signed by Christopher Conroy Chief of Major Economic Crimes Bureau which Investigates Complex Crimes committed in the.

"Yeah. He might not be up there with these guys the linebacker. Michigan. Devin Bush junior is available. The last of the good inside linebacker is not likely for the bills daler Steve said, the Florida offensive tackles available. They'll have choices here. Montas? Wet is available. Yeah. They're going to get a good player. And now we're going to get a chance to see where they really feel like they still have a need the Buffalo Bills front office. I don't think there's any hiding it. There's there's so many good players at positions where they think, and it will also it also be a sign if they take somebody else like a cornerback or whatever we'd talk if they take some somebody at a different position entirely. It will be because they think they're strong enough where they're at with their offense and defensive line to move forward and bolster someplace else that'll be telling thing as well. And if if they go receiver or something like that. Pretty adrift is pretty good tweet to our Twitter site Daniel Burt tweets in hey, Josh Allen, went seventh overall two years in a row. Those Josh Allen the quarterback and this Josh Allen the pass rusher. Kentucky who just went a couple of minutes ago to Jacksonville bills, getting ready to pick their on the clock right now, we are getting into the knife overall pick on this board for the Buffalo Bills. If you ever thought, I'm where they should go. You got a couple of minutes to get it in at a call on the line from Israel is that right? Or are you on the line with us from Israel? What do you think? How do you like it so far? And what do you think for the bills? I'm excited. I wasn't sure it would be Beverly diamond. Do you think at all do you think an offensive lineman to help Josh Allen? My really addressed lying during. Agencies. And you think that'll tell you something if they do take an offensive lineman. The maybe they aren't quite as sure some of the guys they signed at that. Or they just wanna make sure. Do you think it says anything that if they do take offense of lineman about the guys they signed? Free agency, and I will defend. Yep. Well, they need three technique. And that's what had all of is. There's some other guys there as well. It's it's going to be interesting to see who they do pick. And I think it is going to be telling because they're both quality players. They're going to get a really good guy. No matter which position they go to where they do go for the defensive lineman or the edge rusher or they do go offense of line one anyone and there's some good players in other positions as well. We'll have to wait and see where they think their biggest need is. And that's that is that's really cool to see the answer unmistakably. That's a big part of the answer. It also who's better. I mean, do they feel like they get a better player from and Oliver than they would from the lineman Joe Williams, Andre Dillard, that's part of the answer to the bills three minutes. Forty nine seconds away from the deadline for them to make your pick the ninth pick overall in this draft a couple of surprises through the first eight including Cleveland, Farrell who goes the Clemson defensive end who goes fourth overall, the Oakland that was a bit of a shock. And then of course, the quarterback from Duke Daniel Jones who went to the New York Giants, we await the bills pick three and a half minutes away. But one thing I want to talk about Daniel Jones real quickly. Steve Dave Gettleman who I respected in my great deal. Now he's on the hook for yet another questionable. Call right. I mean, I don't think anyone expected Daniel Jones first of all if he's going on the first round the giants you'd get him at seventeen you would think and I'm shock. Here's Dave Gettleman, again, putting himself in the line of fire as far as second guessing, why did you stay with you? I manage so long. Why did you trade away although Beckham junior? Why don't you take a quarterback last year and take a running back? And now why did you take Daniel Jones in the sixth overall pick? Dave Gettleman who you know, it's the New York media. There are a little tough. Dave got him on his right in the line of fire for yet. Another a decision that he's made controversial giants fans have got to be ripping their hair out because you're right there. There's no. This is a future pig. It's a top five pick in the NFL draft. And you're not gonna see the guy this year. Austin, you know, for better for worse. You're not going to see him. That's hard to swallow for fans who wanna see your team win the division. You didn't help yourself in any of these games this year by by drafting a rookie quarterback that high on a team where you're not gonna play him. You don't plan to play. And you've said all along you're not gonna play you're going to stick with your quarterback Eli manning, and that's hard for fans to get get their heads around. Because let's face it. New York is not a patient city. Right. What is not? And I think one of the things about the bills pick coming up the pick is in actually, and you talk about the things that they value Jona Williams all about character all about intelligence all about professionalism. Same thing with Christian Wilkins defensive tackle. So if character is the one thing they've got to make that decision as well to two guys who are both really good players on and off the field leadership accountability. Smart intelligent committed all of that in place for both. Players at that position. If you wanna go that way. And now we're going to get a chance to see where the bills really value in which those guys they think is the best one is going to be interesting bills pick.
