"Coronavirus Action plan from President elect Joe Biden centers on a mass vaccination campaign. And closer coordination among all levels of government. The Biden plan comes as a divided nation remains caught in the grip of the pandemics. Most dangerous wave yet Como's Jeff Pooja We've got the latest from ABC is Mark Roma lard. What's different about President Elect Biden's plan is supposed to what the Trump administration has been doing Well, there's a couple things we'll see whether or not they actually make much of a difference, but one of the things that you mentioned there was this coordination between the levels of government. So I think one of the things we've seen in this early phase of vaccinations and and some of the criticism here about why it's going slow. Is this, uh, kind of fractured system within the United States? The federal government is working to procure the doses from Visor and Moderna. They pass it off to private companies that ship it out to states. The states then take control of it may ship it where it needs to go or directed where it needs to go. Then it lands at a hospital somewhere, and the hospital has its own plan for what to do so each hospital's different so Had this very fractured plan in terms of the chain of custody and the logistics of getting the vaccine out to people on. There was a lot of criticism that there wasn't a very good last mile plan that wants the boxes of the vaccines. Get off the truck at a hospital. Then what happens So what the what the Biden administration is saying it wants to do is have that closer coordination between the federal government and states. In terms of how they distribute these things who they distributed to how many doses they're getting these kinds of things, a closer coordination overseeing that that might rely on states being welcoming of that, because part of the reason the system is fractured the way it is, is this because that's how our government and system works. So what Biden and the administration can do to alter that you know, or how much they can alter that, I think remains a question. So that closer coordination and I think the other big thing that you'll see from the Biden administration that you know, I think the Trump administration has been criticized of is a more unified message and a message of urgency. President Trump had a lot of credit to be given for operation Warp speed and the development of vaccines, but at the same time criticism of picking fights with his top scientists and top leaders at CDC and FDA. Saying that the virus will just go away on its own and disappear and not really pushing hard for mask wearing and social distancing. Biden, I think you're gonna see a different tone and a sense of urgency there. You mentioned some of the criticisms that the Trump administration has had in rolling out the vaccine. This sounds very similar to what we saw with the P P E and the masks early on in the pandemic, where states where Pitted against each other. Trying to bid on this Has that problem been solved? Are we seeing similar issues here? Well, I think that's exactly what binding is going to try to remedy. But the question again is how much of that can he do? We have a system where there are 50 states with their own autonomy to an extent and their own governments and their own control over their states and jurisdictions. So I think again It's the framework of our country that something like Covad 19 an effort to do this vaccination system kind of exposes. You know some of the cracks in there and the fault lines in there. You know it just a system of how it works. And so the Trump administration Has been very hands off when it comes to this is in terms of from exactly what you're saying. We had. You know, we had 50 different plans for early on in the pandemic for masks and 50 different plans for whether or not restaurants can do indoor dining or outdoor dining or no. Do you know what no restaurants at all we had. We had all these different plans. But when you're trying to as a one nation, coordinate all of this and get on the same page with everybody Represents a huge challenge, not just logistically, but also in the legal framework of our country. And so that's something bite, and I think wants to try to remedy and I think that's what we're seeing here in the end in the advanced guidance we have where he wants to have this closer coordination between the federal government and the states. But again, I think that there's still a big question here as to how much Can the president and how much can the federal government actually do here?
