"Now back to the show. Mister president, yes, this January 6th committee, they're doing. It's almost like a mini series they're doing. They're running different episodes every day, campaign, your campaign chief, Bill, stepien, was supposed to testify today actually and his wife had a baby. So he will have a nice Father's Day on Sunday, which we'll talk about later in the episode. But are you not going to say afraid? Are you. Nervous to have him testify? Now, it's all eyes, excuse me. So it's all fake. It's all because they don't want me to run again against sleepy gel because they know I'll destroy them. For a second time. So this is an you learn you learn. Okay? And then some people are very scared. Some people get nervous. And I don't mind it if somebody like Ivanka gets nervous. She's a woman she's a beautiful sexy woman. If you don't see it there it is, it's okay. I remember the first time I creeped into a bedroom when she just after she'd had her first period, and she was very nervous, and I said, you're a woman. This is okay. And she was nervous. So a young woman being nervous as I was so, but now I wouldn't get nervous from Bill stepien the name of love, okay? Because I've dealt with hot Kelly and I can deal with Bill stepien in the name of love. So when I'm nervous, we're actually very confident, actually more confident than we've ever been. And that's saying something because many people have said that I'm the most confident person in the history of confidence men. So we're very strong. We're very confident and oh. Okay. Well, thank you for answering that question. Which question? About being nervous if Bill stepien tells that those Bill. Campaign chief. I never heard of him. Is that like a Native American title? He's the chief of the campaign tribe. Not afraid. Dances, dances with ballots. That's why Native.

"I mean, how we turn this around? Well, I think people need to, you know, a long time ago. Actually, Governor Cuomo once said this, too. May when we were talking about investing after the crash of 2000 and seven housing upset, he said. People will go back into the water when they know the shark is dead. So I think that there has to be a confidence. That system is fair on that comes with accountability that comes with Villagers. But I think that's that's where we are right now. People want to know. That shocking dead that leak across the system, and that's why the whole, you know in the book factor to is called the two that sales and that is about how they tried to take Donald Trump down beginning in 2016, even possibly at the end of 15 and just kept going with this collusion stories. Three years that the media drove the bus on. We need to see some accountability. There need to see what happens even if it's Bill bar John Berman coming out and said, Guess what? They work, no fraud. There was no abuse of power. Okay, fine. We know that you track he gets his due diligence and we will start to trust system without accountability. And do Gilligan. People don't know They don't trust the system, and that's where we are right now in this ballot craziness. Yeah. How many times do we see $100,000 in the garbage here? $50,000 in Brooklyn in the coverage there, you know, God, bad sound under a rock. So it's not really It's becoming like green eggs and ham. I would not hide ballots on a goat or on a boat. It's not good, and I agree with you that the truth is right now we don't have a system in place after four years of trying to upend the last election that anybody trusts OK, The president is obviously taking a lot of shots of the integrity of the process because he's seen it weaponized against him, so I believe he's very well with his rights to do it. You know, obviously, you know, people on the left have been fed this absurd narrative for four years about him not being legitimate. So they have their own issues as well. Is there a world Maria where we could have a universal vote counting standard, so we don't have states coming in, you know, scattered around the map. E. Don't know. I mean, I know I don't know that the legality of that. I just don't know how I know that in this particular situation today, I would expect the Trump Administration is going to take down the hammer. I think you're gonna see his lawyers. Come out. Go to Pennsylvania. Go to Wisconsin. Go to Arizona and do a deep dive into these palace. I can't imagine. Donald Trump, knowing the fighter that he has been all of these years. If he's gonna walk away and say, OK, I trust you guys. The same guys who abuse power in 2016 now want to be in power. Once again. It's a great point. The same people who told us put out a poll saying he was down 17 points in Wisconsin. Did you see that? Get in here crazy. They did not want the media did not want to show me. I don't know why we sat on Florida's So long Ohio. It's There are situations where you have to turn back and say, Well, wait a minute. Why didn't we call this shooter? What? Why was this called at this time? I don't know. I mean, are there answers for that? I don't have them. But I'm asking my contacts because I know it's something A lot of people are frustrated with and as it pertains to Arizona, uh, you know, other networks haven't called it a lot of people okay, including Bill Stepien, Trump's campaign manager, who spoke earlier today on a conference call said that they believe when all is said and done, they're gonna win Arizona by 25 to 30,000 votes. So you know, we're a long way from home on this, but I wanted to ask you this. You spoke with Trump pollster Jim McLaughlin on your show, Did you not? Yes, I did. And he was excellent..
Trump Lashes Out Over Vote Count as Biden Gains Ground in Key States
"Winner in this year's presidential election continues this hour. The Associated Press reporting. Former Vice President Joe Biden currently leads President Trump to 64 to 214 in the electoral college. The legal challenges. Ey're in play. And as NPR's Tamara Keith reports, the Trump camp is sounding optimistic It will pull ahead. The Trump campaign is still disputing a race call in Arizona, saying they expect President Trump will be able to catch up to Biden is ballots continue to be counted. They also insist things look good for the president in Pennsylvania. Here's campaign manager Bill Stepien, the media And the insiders in the city trying to count Donald Trump out for years. Give me that Give him zero chance during his primary. They said he was dead during impeachment. They said his campaign with dead during this summer Donald Trump is alive and well and tweeting in all caps. Stop the count exclamation point. Trump's campaign has filed a flurry of lawsuits which among other things, seek to stop vote counts until legal observers Khun get better access to monitor how its going tomorrow. Keith

"Wait. We firmly believe that there are many voters in this group of nailing people that are not proper vote. Former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt at the news conference Moments ago, the Trump campaign had already filed lawsuits in Pennsylvania and Michigan, demanding more transparency in the counting process. A court ruling this morning lets the campaign send in 15 observers in Philadelphia. They've also sued in Georgia, which along with Nevada, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, remains too close to call as the count continues. Trump campaign, Meantime, also not giving up on Arizona, which was called for Biden on Election Night. Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien in a conference call with reporters, claiming that President Trump is on his way to winning the state of Arizona Worth 11 electoral votes are Dad told us that we would continue to keep cutting into the Democrat lead. And we have the race in Arizona getting closer and closer every day. Fox News has projected that Joe Biden will win Arizona. Biden currently leads the president in the Grand Canyon State by 68,000 votes with 86% of the vote already counted. In Washington, John Decker Fox News fighting campaign, also holding a conference call in predicting a boost for them in Nevada, with another batch of ballots do with this hour. "Hi about 58. It is a 43 right now in 145. In Ellicott City, and again, polls open up in about 35 minutes on we'd love to hear from you have been your polling precincts that I'll change this year because of the wolf Lu. So let us know if you're in line with line looks like how long you've been waiting on How things go once the polls open up at seven will be here till nine. Dark hunter takes over at that point. So Bill Stepien, campaign manager of the president. The reason why the president's been in such a great mood while he's been, you know, doing the Trump you know the dance. Look at some of these numbers in Kenosha, Wisconsin, because today weeks ago the partisan makeup the electorate was Democrats plus 12.3. Today it's Democrats of 5.9. Going in Election day. In 16. The gap was 9.6. President. Trump has a project on Election Day vote cast margin over 100,000 net votes and in Florida, which is a major swing state, Sean during the run up to the campaign run up to the election day. Democrats were at 18.8% advantage. But as of yesterday, the numbers just plus one the they're not predicting a trump victory there by 500,000 votes. By the time all the votes were counted that, does he. The people are coming back to the present. Nevada would be a pickup state for the president. Democrats jumped up Tio 27.3 advantage during absentee or Millen only voting Today. It's only plus five. Ongoing Election Day 2016. It was 7.9 and now the president rejected on Election Day vote cast margin of over 50,000 votes. Oh, and the other state we were looking at was Michigan. The Democrats have bank there high propensity voters on the Republicans of nearly two million voters left in Michigan. The president selected a margin needs 350,000. They're projecting on Election Day vote cast merging of 400,000. So there will be a net of 50,000 vote when In Michigan right now. Yeah. Yeah, there's one more and that's Ohio, where the parties will make it was Democrat Plus 10 a couple of respect the current number. Is Democrats Plus 0.6 s O. That's 2016. It was plus 2.6%. At the same time, Trump won Ohio by 400,000 votes and eight points 52% of 44%. And the prediction of the Trump campaign now is that he will also win Ohio today by at least 400,000 votes. So when the president talks about the red wave, this is what he's referencing. This is the red wave. That's coming. The red waves voting today. Election Day on again Remember, early results will be tonight on Remember Florida don't get upset because the first part of Florida comes in. It's the Eastern time zone. It's Miami. It's Fort Lauderdale is Orlando. You gotta wait for the Panhandle, which is in the Central time zone. Eso when you're watching returns the results tonight. Keep that in mind on again. Look, I firmly believe is going to be some Funny business on Fox and some of the other networks are going to try to call this race early for Biden. They do it every year. So be forewarned about that on. You know, we're getting our predictions a little later on, But here's what's going on. In the house. There were 30 seats that were in Trump district that Democrats took last time out in 2018. The Republicans need 17 off those 30. In order to retake the house. Okay, so those are numbers in the house and over in the Senate Republicans are defending 23 seats. That's a heck of a lot on bacon only afford to lose three of those 23. That's the reason one of Mitch McConnell's is that it could be 50 50 but again if there is a red wave if the president has people out voting, and there's a lot of down ballot, you know choices that go along with the president. Then I think the Senate will be kept. And there's a really good chance they flip. The house based on Election day, turn out for the president of the homeowner's insurance is great. When you get all your money back, folks would that be an amazing thing will actually There's a company right here in Baltimore that does that They would turn every dollar you ever paid for your homeowner's insurance. You think this is too good to be true? But it is true. Now you've heard me talk about Baltar were incredible insurance. But don't just take it from me. They have been a Baltimore institutions since 17 94 so their business model works. They provide homeowners, renters and condo insurance in Maryland and in Pennsylvania, And here's how it works your payment deposit. They provide your homeowner's insurance. Now and all you do is give me a call. If it sounds too good to be true. Most people say yes, John really has got to be a catcher's A giving. No, just call him and you never get to the voicemail Where we get a live person For 10 77.

"It's all things considered from NPR news. I'm Mary Louise Kelly that I'm Ari Shapiro. It's Day two of the Republican National Convention last night speakers took an apocalyptic view of what would happen if President Trump doesn't win in November, hears how his son Donald Trump Jr. Contrast it President Trump against Vice President Biden. It's almost like this election is shaping up to be church work in school versus rioting, looting and vandalism. Tonight's keynote speaker will be first lady Melania Trump, and she is expected to take a more positive you here to preview the evening is NPR national political correspondent Mara Liasson. Hi, Mara. Hiring Tell us more about the first lady's role tonight. Well, you know, with the exception of Michelle Obama, who was a cultural icon, first ladies are generally not the most important speakers at conventions, but they do have the power to humanize their spouse, the president and validate his character in a way that other speakers can. There was some controversy when Melania strong. Trump spoke of the convention in 2016, because some of the lines in her speech were identical. To one of Michelle Obama's speeches, but her chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, said today on MSNBC that that is not gonna happen This time. I can tell you that every word in this speech is from her. It's very authentic, and it's going to come from the heart, so we're really excited for people to hear from her. It will be one of her longer speeches that she's given. And I think the American people will be really excited to hear some of the things that she's going to say. You know, the setting for Melania speeches also controversial she's going to appear in the Rose Garden of the White House that's traditionally been off limits for partisan politics. But the president has violated that norm repeatedly, and Grisham says the White House is her home. And even though the staff her staff are subject to the Hatch Act, which limits the kind of political activities they could be involved in First ladies are not subject to the hatchback, and Grisham says everyone on her staff has been very careful to abide by the rules. Another speech that will be given from a controversial location tonight, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Jerusalem. How unusual is that? Very unusual. Secretaries of state don't usually mix policy and politics. There's even a State Department memo that says department officials can't advocate for a candidate can't attend political conventions. But Pompeo says his staff says he's speaking in his personal capacity. And his remarks were taped in Jerusalem. Of course, That's where President Trump move the U. S embassy to when he took office, and he's been very open about the domestic political reasons for that, he said last week. The reason I moved the embassy was quote for the evangelicals. Very important part of his base. The whole goal is to persuade voters. So where does the race stand today? Well, that's pretty interesting because it doesn't look like Joe Biden got much of a bounce from his convention doesn't seem to have pulled the president's numbers down or Biden's numbers up very much so the race is stuck. Biden still has a lead. It's very stable, it's narrower in the battleground states. But we have seen big leads disappear in the past. Mike Dukakis came out of his convention with a 17 point bounce. Of course, he lost the election to George H. W. Bush and today at a political event, Trump's campaign manager, Bill Stepien, laid out A path for how they think Trump can win. He pointed out correctly. That all president has to do is when one of the three key states Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, without losing any of the other states. He won in 2016, and he will be re elected, and he even expressed optimism about flipping some states. They didn't win last time. Like New Hampshire, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada. So lot that can happen in 70 days. Just briefly. What did you make of the way the Republicans address the corona virus pandemic last night? I think the Republicans made a big effort to deal with what is the president's biggest liability his net negative rating on how he's handled the pandemic. The president has been trying to do this for sometime himself, appearing at the White House every day to talk about all the things that he's done, but this was a bigger audience. Lot of validators come out, but it's hard to see how even four days of a convention would be enough to move public opinion on this. Because he spent months downplaying the virus in daily TV appearances. Alright, NPR's Mara Liasson, Thank you. Thank you. It was August 25th 2016 4 years ago Today the head of the CIA was briefing Harry Reid, then the top Democrat in the Senate, one of a Siri's of urgent classified briefings that month to the most senior lawmakers in Congress. The message that Russia was actively working to elect Donald Trump president. Well, here we are four years later to the day. And U. S intelligence is publicly warning that Russia is still at it now actively working to re elect Donald Trump as president on this anniversary of sorts seemed a good moment to take stock. And to do that we have called someone who was in the room who led countless classified briefings on Russia in the run up to and the aftermath of the 2016 vote. Mike Rogers ran the National Security Agency and commanded U. S Cyber Command for President Obama and then stayed on to serve President Trump Admiral welcomed all things considered. Thank you. It's a pleasure to be with you today, so let's look back before we look ahead four years ago. Exactly How much did we know about what Russia was up to? We collectively the intelligence community in the United States government. We had an awareness that the Russians had been attempting to penetrate the computer systems. The networks of Political parties in the United States on by the summer of 16. Collectively, we, the US intelligence community had come to the conclusions that we were dealing with a systematic Effort on the part of the Russians. To attempt to Through a cyber and disinformation largely through social media. But using those capabilities to influence the outcome of the US election, did we do enough to try to stop them? Well, I think in fairness, everybody involved while we had some level of knowledge in the summer of 2016..

"Big news we have to touch upon it. At the campaign, a shakeout brand. Pasquale, who was the big man has bean put down to a secondary position. He is the master of all things. Digital talk to us about the significance of yesterday's decision and who this new individual in charge really is mad. Yeah, I look so Bill Stepien is taking over is the campaign manager. He's a former Chris Christie, 80 also was the political director in the White House for the first couple years, but the Trump administration he's very qualified guy. I haven't had the chance of meeting or speaking with Bill Stepien yet I hope that I do get that opportunity and down the road. But from everything that I hear about him and from different people around the movement and that have dealt with him very competent. Ah, decision by the president in ads for Brad Parse cow. Brad's also very competent in what he does best, which is data in analytics and really zoning in on the technology side of things right. He comes from the tech background and in that world the he was like the founder of Start up. Tech company down Austin, Texas. So what the president seems to be doing here is kind of moving his players around on the fields. Try toe, you know, get the best that he can out of them, right? Bill Stepien is much more of a political operation Structural guy right like that's what he did for Christie. That's what he did in the White House, and that's what he's going to do now is the campaign manager. Where's Brad's much more of a tech guru type guy, right leg? And so this freeze brat up to go do Tech stuff, and it allows Bill Stepien to really run the logistics of the campaign in the final three through, you know, three months or so here until Election Day. I think we're 110 111 days until election day. So this allows Bill Stepien Teo to focus on that stuff. And so it's kind of Ah, it's It's not really like Brad. Par scales out type of thing is more of a reorganization. On. This is kind of what the president is. Private sector history is done best he recognizes when he needs to make, you know some changes, And so hopefully this war. This will kind of give the campaign the flexibility and the juice that they need to kind of turn some of this around that we're seeing in some of these bat poles that we're seeing some of this some of the battleground states and kind of get off the Off to the races because as soon as Trump gets this all sorted out all the structural stuff in the message, and so on and so forth. He's going to be right back up there with Joe Biden. So all these people that are right in Trump's obituary right now, I think they're doing so very prematurely. I think they're making a mistake. They did the same thing in 2016 where they coronated Hillary Clinton back in the summer. You and they were so wrong about it. On and I think there's a lot of similarities between now and 2016. It's not the same election. There are differences, key differences, but the you know there's also a lot of similarities between now and 20. So to us. You're really you know, Beltway inside that you've been observing these things for years. It is par for the course on left and right Republican and Democrat Tohave campaign. Shake ups or repositioning is very normal in the months before election. Is it not very normal. And by the way, the president's campaign in 2016 had a TTE least three different generations. Right?
