The police department says Nikki used a chainsaw to cut through the log and free himself to his vehicle called 911. And despite telling dispatchers, he was close to losing consciousness, he drove more than a mile to where rescuers found him. He was treated At a nearby hospital. That's in the state of Maine. Where Ana wait, Philip, You kind of fooled me there. You made it sound like he used the chainsaw to cut his leg. I know it's weights and by the time but then you get this. You just cut the log. "I'm bill Roy so the city council members are right up there at the top on that list right mmhm moral think so now okay they aren't actually is people who are employees of the city up and I'm guessing yes a couple of but damn about going to but that's interesting a corset as you become a person who who runs for a but I guess you're not running for properly you work for a public company the another right the government concession you bet solo and do those kinds of things are the taxpayers have to pay absolutely yeah we'll be transparent about him and the vet public record share with us now in our business we don't have to do that you know I tried private is known private companies and the kind of outrageously high salaries if you and I have made over the years it by just dip the people knew what we make it might embarrass them they have ex exactly right think of how to keep that behind him to think we're snobs or something because of all this money for a car ride beryl's better better old liberals that's it interesting oil story I gotta tell you bill actually how many gallons did you say a day eight hundred nine thousand more barrels and roof of crude oil and refined petroleum products that's each day than it imported in September yep the joint and you're you're kind of on the front end of this I think but when that the oil embargo hit in the seventies it was a mess all my life do you know what was it seventy three around in their seventy four you bet and it was it was quite a time people had we had to re think what we're going as a nation and I gotta tell you that I have a feeling that a lot of the reason why we can export is not best because were were producing a whole lot more but a lot of it has to be the way the cars are engineered now as opposed to forty years ago they're more fuel efficient you talking about the seven thirty seven Max in the beauty of that airplane is as I understand it is it's more fuel efficient fuel efficient that in the dream dream liners well yeah and then if you you know if you're not not using as much the fuel then you'll have some more that you can export you bet what does this mean for a bottom line that's for sure here in Kansas where we have lots and lots of oil and gas is that mean you and I are going to profit from that some al probably not well it may be a a if our oil companies and gas companies are doing well I think that listen that's good for other hiring and we've known geologist oiled L. I know you have it I have all of my life these people have their their their markets go up and down and it's it's a tough business and if they can get some success I say solutions a way to go guys that way to go off to look like and I know this probably this day is probably made more less in honor of you because it encourages giving batch called national day of giving okay up we spent the weekend shopping looking for the best deals possible I know you were on the internet yesterday on cyber Monday looking for a deal for something and but this is the day when we do we don't think about shopping we don't think about buying things but giving back giving something let's give back yes and so as to maybe to donate to one of your favorite charity something like that all right so not a bad idea was we we wanted a shop there no doubt about that now uses spirit of giving during the hottest spirit of giving to you or do you drive into IBM to give any personal things away would you drive into the city from the from the west right there any big bottlenecks if you face every day you go through the zoo Boulevard thank really now I really know wells who Boulevard to thirty five but at seven o'clock when I go through there it's really not too bad not bad at all all right now and then I take the zoo Boulevard and central and go buy exploration place in an old town so not not too bad and you know I'm in riverside and right to I have to be the toughest part for me is to get over to the interstate I one thirty five from my neighborhood because you're going down thirteenth and there's seventy five thousand traffic lights even though it's not in the middle of the night right and then I get under thirty five and I come south bound get under fifty four to run over here like that only either you go every now and then as they did today in surprise me they close my on ramp on the interstate and then I have to drive about you know all across town on on streets with slight soon I'm not complaining I know they don't operate the system just for me or not now thank you guys coming up it nine nine.

But I I still think the one of the benefits of of buying anything talking to somebody and doing manned person to person, you know, what I'm saying. Right. Right. But apparently, the the rest of the world doesn't think that way we don't want to talk to anybody, and we'll see anybody. But what does that say about us? If all we can do is, you know, do things with the keyboard and over the internet. We don't want to talk to anybody. When what kind of people are we going to be? I think the answer it answers it self right there. Turned into people who just can't relate to each other and lend towns full of a lot of empty buildings. That's true. "I'm Bill ROY confess to you that I'm I'm not very good at things like that. Naming naming a team takes a real creative streak, but I guess several thousand suggestions about that. We got it. We had a poll right after they made the announcement. Then man, there are a lot of responses. Everybody's excited about it. But we'll see what happens next and get a name lati-. Well, how was your Super Bowl Sunday Bill? Well, it was pretty pretty laid back. My daughter and my nephew came in. And they just gone down to see my other daughter down in college station. So they got back, and they went home, and it was pretty quiet scratching ally. Watching the ball game. And we looked at each other and yawned a couple of times because the game was so excited. Oh, yeah. We were invited late to go out to my my daughter's house on only as one of the kids said, oh, by the way, mom sick. Sort of a stomach thing going on. And now, we don't need that. So we just we stayed on. We're we were like you. And I get it. I confess to you know, you know, I can fall asleep pretty easily. I had no trouble missing about three quarters of the first half of that game. Yeah. I mean, I was not exactly riveted. Of course, you and I were chiefs fans, we know the they should right. Well, and yeah, I mean, you you get to the Super Bowl, and you think well these folks are going to be able to put together. Now, I understand defense championships. But holy smoke scores from touchdowns here somewhere. You would think that they they would be able to matriculate down the finances. They needed matriculate a little better. Didn't they do a sixty five task power travel that? Yeah. Yeah. Homemade soup day. Gretchen have a homemade superspy. Oh, yeah. She makes him. Soup and Shelley's jellies been dabbling on that home on on the potato soup. She's done a couple of those pretty good and my daughter Stacy also does pretty good potato soup. But. My late grandfather Goldie Smith did a potato soup. I it. I don't know what he put in there. But it was fantastic. I don't remember this little baby little onions little of this. And that and his his potato soup was just to die for. The homemade soup, Dan. It's going to be colder later this week. We'll have to dig out homemade soup and chili. Exactly, right. I like that. Townies went I and I remember town west opened had all a great stores in it. And then. The growth of the city just ballooned out west of maize road, and these balls like town westtown Easter kind of sort of the thing of the past in most places all things are changing. That's for sure. Because of online, you know, retail and lots of different factors. But yeah, not very many of. I it's been awhile since I've been to the mall. That's for sure. Well, you need to get some grandkids are teenagers, and they'll take you out there. Show you where to buy all the shoes, right? That's about all. That's what the deal is. Yeah. And all they are basically each use stores eight shoe store. Yeah. I don't get it. That's not good. Okay today is national handwriting day. There is something to think about is designed to reintroduce ourselves to the pen or the pencil the writing if you're manufacturing writing instrument manufacturing associated for you say it's a chance for all to reach for the purity and power of handwriting as you can see there. But I tell you I I take all my notes now on a computer, so very rarely do I use a pen repented. So when you were a kid, did you have good penmanship? I mean, I I gotta tell you. My penmanship was excellent through the six eight. Yeah. It was it was decent. Not great, but decent you can read it and manship Ted. Ted does a lot of scribe atrocious handwriting. So not one of my strong suits, take you behind the scenes a little bit. He scratches all these notes, and he hands them to jed. I don't know how jed can can decipher them. "I'm Bill ROY and Bill we've talked with those people who were on that committee of twelve thirteen people who've been looking into that looks like the consensus is that having a convention type show or something like that in century two is not a good idea that there's too much too much bleed from other venues whatnot. So it looks to me like they're going to do two separate facilities the way, you're reading it. Well, that could be the remember there to the committee. That's put together now is about to release their recommendation. I assume that's just for performing arts. And so there are there are some discussions going on about the convention facilities. But I think that's where we're going to end up a separate facility for both the up the century to with its pie. Pyrites like a pie and each one of those little slices of pie. They get bleed over on the acoustics. In the end the buildings getting old. They could renovate it to, you know, just the the cost they say is just about the same both ways. All right. Well, it's going to be interesting to see how the takes out that Mara big day for you. Because you are a native of Kansas City. Chiefs are going to be in the playoffs. Again. That's going to be fine. The bad part is that's a good part. They're playing who Indianapolis part is Ted pointed out in nine playoffs games at Kansas City at Kansas City. Right. Ted the chiefs of one to over the. We're not we're not thinking about the past. This year this year, though, they've got a they've got a team that can at least put some points up there on the scoreboard, right? Yeah. It was interesting. I was in Kansas City for a couple of days this week in sports talk radio the boy are hot on it. Obviously the, but it's at the two extremes there either saying, oh my gosh. It's going to happen again the culture hot or they're saying the colts don't have a defense, and they they haven't faced an offense like ours. So well, that's. We all people fetal and fans are the either optimistic or pessimistic one way or the other. Yep. Yogi Berra used to say. That's why we're playing this game to find out. Right. Exactly. All right.
