"In teen overdoses. And in part of our area, police are issuing warnings about the spike in overdoses with most of them coming from fentanyl. "Mass shooting this time in Northern California. It's a tragedy that we hear about far too often, but today is hit home here in sandwich hill county. Sheriff Christina corpus says 7 people were shot to death at farms in half moon bay, CBS's max Darrow, on the suspect. 67 year old Chun Li zhao was seen being taken away in handcuffs Monday afternoon shortly after authorities say he shot and killed more than half a dozen people in two different locations. Officials say the suspect was located in the parking lot of a San Mateo county sheriff's substation. It comes just days after 11 people died in a mass shooting at a dance club in southern Monterey Park, investigations are underway into motives in both incidents. Democratic state assemblyman, Evan low. California, we pride ourselves on the most strict gun laws in the nation. And yet this can still happen within our borders. It's happened on 37th place as the fire spread to a couple floors of the apartment complex he was in. He's wanted in the killing of 53 year old James Brooks, who was found with stab wounds in another part of southeast the night before. Brooks died at the scene. Developments was a big issue in last year's prince George's county council elections. The new council is moving quickly as it voted today to overturn several zoning bills. That has ticked off some developers who had hoped to start building this year. One of those awning bells aims to overturn an effort that would have allowed for hundreds of town homes to be built on the side of the freeway airport in buoy. That's clean up from an overnight dump truck tractor trailer fire and the debris remains along the right side. You can still exit at branch avenue X at 7, but that's where the right side of the roadway is tied up. Watch for all the activity get past it and then shoot over into the ramp lane. Now watch topside outer loop, you're gonna slow from 95 headed over toward Georgia avenue. Just beyond exit 31 for Maryland 97, that's word of a new crash. Branch avenue, northbound just before the beltway. That's a wreck in the right lane. 100 in Elk ridge headed west. After route one toward I 95, crash along the left side of the roadway. In Virginia, expect some slow traffic on 66 east briefly in manassas, 95 northbound slowed in woodbridge, then again in lorton, 95 north near Dale City. That sort of a new crash along the right side. There had been a long-standing issue we had had a wreck on Dale boulevard. It was put it out near mini ville road. You may still find authorities on scene, watch if there's any kind of direction. That wreck was put over onto the right shoulder, little busier on two 70. As you leave Frederick coming south, you may find it crowded in Gaithersburg, riding south toward Rockville. Also, the delays eased in the district. We had had an earlier crash south on D.C. two 95 before Pennsylvania avenue that had been along the right side. So far, nothing reported. South of town, the lineup on the end of the saint Barnabas road, headed down toward the Wilson bridge. There was a wreck and elegant city on 100 westbound after exit two from Maryland one O 8 had been reported along the right side of the roadway. You're going to find a delay on the Baltimore Washington Parkway, south at one 75. Again, at one 97, then through the beltway interchange, northbound had been a little bit delayed as you wrote up from NASA Goddard back toward powder mill, riding in the district. We're looking to get on the freeway, some slowing north on I two 95 ox in cove, up toward laboratory road, also slow D.C. two 95 from eastern avenue toward east capital street, troubled in northwest had been Rhode Island avenue, the requisite New Jersey avenue. Still slow in Virginia on the beltway inner loop. We're heavy, Braddock wrote up toward two 36, but a lot of brake lights at 66, you'll ease of the toll road. There was a wreck up near Georgetown pike long since cleared at this point so the delays are beginning to ease back. Also a little better on 95 going northbound, Dale City into and through lorton. We're looking better at the ramp to take you on to route one that oversized vehicle after 95 toward the railroad bridge. That is cleared so the delays are easing back. We'd had big delays in manassas 28 north near brown's laying the broken down vehicle in the left lane, and there was a crash on 7 going eastbound after Berlin turnpike that had blocked the left side of the roadway. "Shot and killed by an off duty FBI agent last night at the metro center metro rail station. He's 28 year old Troy Bullock of southeast D.C., D.C. police say Bullock in the agent were involved in a fight inside the station both Bullock and the agent went over a railing on the platform. They landed about 8 feet below the train platform. After the fall, the FBI agent fired in hit Bullock, Bullock died at the scene. The FBI agent was treated for serious, but non life threatening injuries. Police say they found a handgun, they believe bullick was carrying. Nobody in the TV news business here in Washington can tell a story like pat Collins. He's a beloved reporter from NBC four and he's retiring after a long career covering stories that really run the gamut of life. For almost 50 years, NBC four's pat Collins has been a street reporter. Albemarle county prosecutors have said that Jones targeted Labelle Davis, deshaun Perry and Devin Chandler after the students had returned from a field trip to D.C., prosecutors have not yet suggested any possible motives, Virginia state police have said a search warrant for Jones on campus dorm room turned up a rifle in handgun. He's been held without bond since he was arrested on November 14th after a 12 hour manhunt. Neil lord can stay in WTO. The loudon county school board is meeting tonight to consider naming Daniel Smith, the temporary head of the school system, Smith has been that system's chief of staff since April. The board fired superintendent Scott ziegler, Tuesday night, a day after a special grand jury report was released. That report harshly criticized the school system's response to two in school sexual assaults by the same student in 2021. It said the school system failed at every juncture and said administrators missed multiple chances to prevent a second assault from happening. Health experts are calling attention to what's called a triple demic COVID flu and RSV infections and hospitals in Montgomery county are reporting an increase in patients. Between its Silver Spring and Germantown hospitals, holy cross acute care for Maryland, was seeing as many as 500 visits a month for respiratory tract infections. And doctor Lewis Damiano with holy cross explains, those were COVID related. That has changed. So now about 50% of the visits that we see in both Silver Spring and Germantown for upper respiratory tract infections are either RSV or their flu. While that's causing some stress on hospital capacity, Damiano said they are not at the point where hospitals would have to go into surge mode like they did during the height of the pandemic.
