"In <Speech_Female> <SpeakerChange> <Silence> <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Music_Male> <Laughter> my teens <Speech_Female> <SpeakerChange> you can tell <Silence> me anything <Speech_Female> i swore <Speech_Female> that i was <Speech_Female> a chef extraordinaire <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> granted <Speech_Female> i was cooking <Speech_Female> for myself and my <Speech_Female> brother <Silence> but up here. <Speech_Female> My cooking <Speech_Female> was the bomb. <Silence> <Speech_Female> My specialty <Speech_Female> of choice <Speech_Female> was baked. <Speech_Female> Macaroni and <Speech_Female> cheese. <Speech_Female> Now bear <Speech_Female> with me as i share <Silence> this recipe. <Speech_Music_Female> Step <Silence> one <Speech_Female> pull <Speech_Female> a box of <Speech_Female> mac and <SpeakerChange> cheese <Speech_Music_Female> out of the cabinet <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Female> step <Speech_Female> to <Speech_Female> cook. According <Speech_Music_Female> to package directions <Laughter> <Speech_Female> step. Three <Speech_Female> place <Speech_Female> said mac and cheese <Speech_Female> in baking <Speech_Female> dish and <Speech_Female> top with <SpeakerChange> an even <Speech_Female> layer of <Speech_Female> cornflakes. <Laughter> Now <Laughter> i'm gonna you all <Laughter> a moment <SpeakerChange> to clutch <Laughter> your pearls. <Speech_Female> Because <Speech_Female> i now realized <Speech_Music_Female> that that is blasphemy <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Music_Female> <SpeakerChange> <Silence> and step four <Speech_Female> <Silence> bake <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> until <Speech_Female> cornflake <Speech_Female> topping is golden <Speech_Female> brown. <Speech_Music_Female> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Female> Now my <Laughter> black card should <Laughter> have been revoked for <Speech_Music_Female> that. <SpeakerChange> <Silence> Okay <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Female> in highschool. <Speech_Female> I hung out with <Silence> friends all the time. <Speech_Female> I went <Speech_Female> to one friend's house <Speech_Female> when afternoon and <Speech_Female> her mom had <Speech_Female> just finished making <Speech_Female> dinner. <Speech_Female> She asked <Speech_Female> me if i wanted <Speech_Female> some <Silence> baked mac and cheese <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> now as a lover of <Speech_Female> food. I <Speech_Female> was not going to turn her down. <Laughter> Plus <Speech_Female> i <Speech_Female> wanted to see if <Laughter> her version matched <Laughter> up to mind <Laughter> <Laughter> so as she <Silence> played it. <Speech_Female> I <Speech_Female> decided <SpeakerChange> to share <Silence> my recipe. <Laughter> <Silence> I'm going through it. <Speech_Music_Female> And <Silence> i'm a little cocky. <Speech_Music_Female> A <Laughter> little overly confident. <Laughter> <Laughter> So i can't <Speech_Female> realize i can't understand <Speech_Female> why they're looking <Speech_Female> at me like i'm crazy <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> so before i get <Speech_Female> through it. <SpeakerChange> She shoves <Speech_Music_Female> a fork full in my <Speech_Music_Female> mouth. <Speech_Female> And when i <Speech_Female> tell you those <Speech_Female> <SpeakerChange> flavors <Silence> exploded. <Speech_Female> <Silence> I thought to myself. <Silence> <SpeakerChange> <Laughter> Is this <Laughter> real cheese <Laughter> <Laughter> <Laughter> cheddar <Laughter> <SpeakerChange> mozzarella <Silence> <Speech_Female> it <Speech_Female> was so creamy <Silence> and so smooth. <Speech_Female> It was <Speech_Female> truly <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> a life changing <Silence> experience. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> So <Speech_Female> my friend's <Speech_Female> mom felt pity <Speech_Female> for me. <Speech_Female> Took me under her <Speech_Female> wing and that <Speech_Female> day taught <Speech_Female> me how to make <Speech_Female> real <SpeakerChange> baked <Speech_Female> macaroni and cheese. <Silence> <Speech_Female> Fast <Speech_Female> forward a few years. <Silence> And i meet this guy <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> franken. I dated <Speech_Female> for a while. It got <Silence> serious <Speech_Female> and <SpeakerChange> he decided <Speech_Female> that he was <Speech_Female> going to <Speech_Female> introduce me to <Speech_Female> his family <Speech_Female> at already met his <Speech_Female> mom and his sister <Speech_Female> but there <Speech_Female> were four siblings <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> their significant <Speech_Female> others and about <Speech_Female> fifteen <Speech_Female> plus <SpeakerChange> nieces <Silence> and nephews. <Speech_Female> This was <Speech_Female> big deal. <Speech_Female> I was meeting <Speech_Female> the entire <Speech_Female> family. And i had <Silence> to make a good impression. <Silence> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> Now <Silence> i'm caribbean <Speech_Female> and <Speech_Female> when we are invited <Silence> to someone's <SpeakerChange> home <Speech_Female> we <Speech_Female> cook we do <Silence> not do store-bought <Speech_Female> it's a <Silence> cultural thing. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> Cooking is a sign <Silence> of love. <Speech_Female> It's <Silence> a sign of respect. <Speech_Female> It's <Speech_Female> like i'm giving a piece <Speech_Female> of myself <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> to those that i'm <Silence> feeding <Speech_Female> so <Speech_Female> it's <SpeakerChange> really <Silence> important to me <Speech_Female> and <Speech_Female> of course. <SpeakerChange> I decided <Speech_Female> that <Speech_Female> i was going to make <Speech_Female> my new and improved <Speech_Female> baked. Macaroni <Silence> and cheese. <Speech_Music_Female> <Silence> Plus <Speech_Female> frank <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> was irish. <Speech_Female> So i <Speech_Female> wanted to show these <Speech_Female> white folks. <SpeakerChange> How black <Speech_Music_Female> folk

"You shit. Now get the fuck out so so this guy pushes past me. I go up. And i say i'm here to see warren. And he says does he know you yes. I have an appointment and he looks over. Shouldering says tony. This guy says he knows warren. And tony hopefully says. And i can't figure out what i'm supposed to do because there's no way to get the only way to get over. The counters either crawl over to crawl under so i go down crawl under. He he walks me through a door win this massive room with dozens of desks. And there's one in the middle and he points to the one in the middle. And i go stand there. And there's this huge guy behind the desk not fat but just big and he's talking on the phone eating a sandwich and typing on his computer at the same time so i stand there for about ten minutes without him acknowledging me he finally puts down the phone and says what do you want and i explained that i'm here. Thank him for his business. We have the vows we can ship them to him. Here's the price he says. Oh no no no my friend and he writes something down on paper and tosses it on his desk to me. And i said what's this he said. I can buy those valves from your competitor for that price. And i said well then you should do that. Because that's a really good price in those are good bells which was not what he was expecting to hear and that sort of angered him. So i'm explaining to him. My rationale and he keeps scratching his chest and after the third time. I realized it probably wasn't a rash. He wanted to make sure. I noticed the gun that was in the shoulder holster under his coat. So i realized very quickly. He's not going to buy anything from me that day. So i said you know where to find me. You can call me if you change your mind. And i put my hand out to shake his hand and he starts to stand up. And i think this is sort of a sign of respect. I was very proud of myself. So until i realized that he had. He wasn't standing up what he was doing was he grabbed my hand and then he pulled me so that i fell flat on top of his desk with my legs. Sticking out behind me and our noses are this far from one another and he looks me in the eyes squeezes my hand like a vice and says now what do you wanna fuck with me. I'm going to tell you what's going to happen now. You're going to step out the door and you're gonna say i fucked up. I should have done business with warm. But i wouldn't do business with oren. Then you're going to get on that plane and you're gonna look down over this fine city and you're going to say fucked up. I should have done business with warner and i wouldn't do business with or and then you can have to walk into work and gyms going to say build you get the order and you're going to say no jim. I fucked up. I wouldn't do business with warren. And i couldn't think anything to do with the squeeze with what was of my hand and say i do want to do business with you. I just can't do it at that price so it come back chicago a few days later the phone rings. it's worn still got those valves. Yeah was surprise the same price it was before. Okay would you throw in some humidifiers for my uncles. Humidifiers like fifty dollars. I said sure. I got three uncles. And they need humidifiers. You'll put those in for free. Yeah okay then. I'll take eighty gross. The crate would. That was a big order for us. So i'm writing up the order. Nieces you know what bill. You're pretty good at this. Would you choose to do for you. Start working for the valve company. You wouldn't believe me if i told you know seriously would use to do. I was a youth minister to church. Fuck out no. That's that's what i used to do. And he says well you know what. You're actually pretty good this next time you come to new york combined you some bagels. And i'm gonna make you an honorary fucking new yorker and from that. He did that the next time. It came to new york and from that point on doing business with warren was easy. Thank you that was bill robinson. He said come by the house tonight. I'll give it to you. I said pearl. I don't know when i'll be able to pay back. She said that's okay. That's okay and so. She loaned me that money and it got us through the winter and the point of my story is that at the end of that year. I told her i would pay her back. I still didn't have a hundred and eighty dollars. She said you got a little refrigerator. Right and i said yeah i do. As a matter of fact. What are you going to do with in. This is the end of my grad school years. I said i don't know i i said you wanted. She had three children lined up to go to brown so she said i'll take the refrigerator. So that was my introduction to bartering. And i paid off my dead to pearl in any number of ways and just as a footnote to my story. My brother who went on to become a soldier. So thank you for your service. I thank him for his. He also was diagnosed with hiv and nine thousand nine hundred ninety three and he still alive. He survived all. Oh no no that would be too so people. He became a crack antic and an alcoholic. And that is what you should be applauding. He survived that he finished his undergraduate years and just got his masters in rehab counselling. So i think pearl look for keeping us. That.

"They have created hell on Earth Soviet Union created on Cuba for all the American press gushing over Fidel Castro for decades. Cuba Cuba is how honor you don't have the right to walk. You have the right to read your Bible sitting on a park bench and Cuba you'll get arrested for. Ninety nine percent literacy rate right because then they all the only thing they allow. The reasons are marks the my point is that conservatives I've always heard from from intelligent and scholarly conservatives. We're not looking to create heaven on earth. That is the wrong impression we need to give people. There's one heaven that's after you die but while we're in this world. We could create if we listen to God, we do a Jesus said which is doing the will of my father. Okay. We have a society that does that imperfectly, of course, because we're all sinners but we have a society to recognize his God is law and we construct society around his law while we can have is the piece that the Robinson was talking about not anarchy there's we can have justice. Okay we could. We get all the things we want until the time comes that we do Diet and God willing we go to heaven. So conservatives have never tried to suggest where we need to create on earth, but we like to have is a relatively peaceful. And god-fearing society. The LET has has shown this in their in their multiple regimes that they manifested themselves in over the last hundred years, they actively seek to create hell on earth. That's what he's talking about. They done it. You see pictures like you always see pictures going out of the of the Nazis and the and the concentration camp Sergei, they never by the way somehow some way. The. Nazis on the political right never understood how that happen 'cause they're pull. They're socialists on number one and they never show you, Stalin the never show you and never show you the pictures of Cambodia never the the killing fields. Why? Because that's hell on earth and that's what these people that Bill Robinson is talking about. That's what they're bringing us. They're bringing in less hell on earth. That's I mean the my wrong..

"Know it's been 33 years when we got to contemporaries that jingle a little bit. That's that's a little moly If we have our own jingle, Howie, but we have our own about that. Well, we'll see how many times we got to use it, You know, Fastball season supposedly starting and we'll have a couple of more Sundays of this. But, you know, this is the weekend that we are Commemorating the 33rd anniversary of W F a A and which, as you know, went on the air July 1st of 1987 now prior to W H and turning into W F A N I've been hired to do this new extended pre and postgame show for the Mets called Mets extra, and I said the only way I'll do the show is if I have a constant audience with the manager on the air, and so Davey Johnson, who had just managed the Mets to the world Championship in 1986 agreed to do the show. And he joins us on the air right now. And Davey. It is always great talking to you. But before we even get to the hellos, I've got to ask you one thing. What were you thinking? Why did you decide to do that show or agree to do it anyway? Well, how he was such a good baseball man, and it was really the main reason I want to do it. Because you know, in New York City. There's so many experts out there. They're fans. And they call all the time. You know, I'd listen to the radio on the way to the ball park and listen to the radio on the way home and everybody was second guessing every move I ever made. And so it was fun to talk to you and we'd get right down to it. I'd give him all the reasons why you do things in a ballgame, So it was my way to get back. Get all those guys that thought they were better managers than me. You know what's great about what you've just said. Davey is that you were really aware ofthe w F A N and the radio because you know if you were listening on the way in what everybody is an expert, you know Darryl's playing too far in and Doc should have been in here and whatever it wass, so you were aware off the radio right from the beginning. No question about it. And it was a really big help to me because, you know, I always want to know what people were taken and why they second guess your moves and everything you make. But the problem was, you know, they don't have all the facts. They don't have the injury of fact, they don't have any. How I used a blast. Now I played on keep using them. And so it was. It was really great for me, and I loved it with Howie. Howie was great. He would get right to the point. You know any thing that was really on the fans mind he would come right out with didn't ask me about it. And I love that. You know, I loved all the honesty and force. Forthright coming for with tough questions. And it took a little bit of time for that develop because even though I've been in the club House regularly is a radio reporter. We didn't really know each other until that 1987 season, and I know there were times early on when you might have been taken aback or little uncomfortable with the nature of the questions, which, in my opinion, we're the same questions that any beat writer for a newspaper. We're going to ask. So what you know, when did that corner turn for you? Was it when W h and morphed into w f A n And all of a sudden you could hear that stuff? 24 7 wasn't a comfort level that you know, we just developed between the two of us. What? What turned the corner for you? Well, how you're very easy to talk to. And I love somebody gets right to the point. Don't pull any punches. And you know it's a way to stay connected with the fans. And I really think that you know, baseball's about the fans. And you know my job is not necessarily Telling them how they second guess me wrong but was just relating to them What was going on? And I love listen to the radio. And where was W. Fe and it was constant. So I had I had all kinds of talking points that I could talk about it in Krypton Misunderstandings among fans. It was great for me. And you know you never really bad mouth me, you know, So it was easy to you know, Davey, We just had to talk to me the next day way We're doing it every day. It seemed like we did it. Morning and night. You know, you know, really know, I always come in the ballpark early because I like to work out a little bit. Not too much, and then I like to go through the training him to see how what's the condition that everybody was? And then I got to talk to you. Very early before head going to feel so it was just it was good and I, you know, I think everybody that's ever been in New York has to listen and read the newspapers. And everything, and it's part of it. It was easy for me. Because I didn't grow up with all these fans and a lot of people. Many years later, I thought I was in New York. Er, but I know it took Buddy Harrelson didn't take it. Well, you know, they took it too personal. I didn't take it personally. All I just talking took it very professionally that it's about the game. And what's best for the game, Eh? Davey, Howie and I were talking the other day about the night You came in the in the booth and you're on the air with him. I guess it was after a game. And you said, Oh, yeah, maybe Darryl, I'll never forget this. I'm all maybe Darryl was playing too far out there, and it was just such a funny such a great thing that you did, and it was the ease that you had in talking to the fans and kind of making fun off. What Goes on on talk radio. I can remember it like it was yesterday. And it wasn't yesterday. Well, you know, that's a good question. You know, First of all, they didn't know Darryl Strawberry now does Strawberry had great talent? You know? And he could come in a heck of a lot better than you could go back. So, you know, I mean, if I had been playing in his instincts wouldn't have been as good as where he was where he felt comfortable playing, and he was lined up, right? And that was the thing I was worried about. Although I did have sex. I did get a couple of coaches fired. I mean, Bill Robinson, one of my best friends and a great hitting coach would use outfield coach They fired him because So that comment all the time on the air that they're playing too deep. And you know, maybe a single would drop in front of him. So You know, I had a little Bill Robinson go and I told cash and I said, Fire me. Don't feel him. Fire him. It all comes down to me. But I lost him and another coach. It's interesting. You bring that up for a couple of reasons..

I guess a real quick question for the rest of your kicking game I mean it's like a deal through something wall switched Pickering was really good lectures a freshman got him. it is a minute we'll get back off of it they can be used to walk on last week made all this be a tease he was shaking making them so you may see the potter Armstrong kick a little bit today I think Jorgensen also do some of that. airforce of the road lane McCallum might be out there taking the day. question mark. frost perspective what is he said about you know there's a lot of TV bundle talkers their coach and one game of course during the bill Tucker what what what kind of the conversation what bill Tucker they've gone back to look at a lot of the Georgia to a flasher to see what he likes to do defensively us of that and then they notice last week a difference in the office and work maybe trying to power run the football more than the boss of done in the past but you're right it's only one game it's on a lot of tape to go off of so they're kind of in question were low to what are they going to see today Colorado you know what I love the fact that we're back together and you know I've got the best seats in the house absolutely is great you know the plot of your wonderful S. idea great no the Nebraska Colorado won the last eight eight titles here we go. a local. you said. And you know, I always Holly apologizes to me how Jenner center offline are major Domo is beginning every time. 'cause he goes, I gotta ask you. So we gotta ask you look what happened in the Auburn game. Look what happened in this game. We gotta ask you about Bill Robinson, Seton Hall, and you know, that's always going to be. But you can't change it. So. You got to move on. And as long as officials those judgments those calls, they gotta make it you're going to get some people are not going to like see Rick Barnes, and Bruce Pearl going to be asked about this thirty years from now too. Not as much as we are because ours was in championship game in in those two areas. Absolutely ours is ours is a little more national because it was the championship game in their league in circles where they are. They're going to be asking time. There's no question about that. But hopefully, it doesn't linger as long Seton Hall. Seton Hall Michigan. Well, last one for you PJ, I wanna ask you about the the association of because you are well-versed in that with your work with the the worldwide leader in sports as we are getting set for the playoffs. How real the bucks? Do you think they can take down? If certainly the warriors advanced from the west. Real. They're good enough to win it. I really a lot of what I said more teams averaging I still think Golden State's team to be. But when you watch the ups and downs they had all year, you I think they're more vulnerable than event any of the last couple of having said that that's not my with if I can only pick one the bucks have been the best team in the league the entire year. And they haven't done it would MIR's. They've just pummeled a lot of people only question, and it's a big question. It's valid question playoff experience. Not not just being in the playoffs. So so so few of them have been in the playoffs, but even less enjoyed playoff success. And that what the warriors have done is gonna help them on got their hands full even coming out of the east. I do think they'll do it. I do think they're legit good enough to win the whole thing. Yes. But it's really hard. Usually your first time in the group, and you know, all the things that you're going to have. Need to get to we talked about the reasons, you know, injuries gonna play a big thing. You're not gonna just what happened late in the year. So sometime health as a huge factor in the NBA playoffs. But I'm looking forward to it. Because I do think the west seal whether they're correct or not they feel don't say vulnerable. Right. They're saying, hey, we can get him this year. And I think there's an element to that. But I'm interested in watching the Celtics and the warriors because I'm curious whether their playoff experience, and their playoff success is going to be a bigger factor in to, you know, help them put behind the fact that both of them had their standards like kind of inconsistent regular seasons as Yoenis your p. Yes, solely. I was great. I told the for harden and wherever else you want to put in their best player on the best team to me is always the MVP unless they don't have a candidate. You know, from our really balanced doesn't have a great player. I've always been I'm old school. He's the best player on the best team in the league. He's he's the in my mind, it's not even close with all due respect to James harden. His done PJ safe travels. Always appreciate our chats. Let's chat during the NBA players love to rich. Thank you very much, which got its PJ Carlesimo of less would want an ESPN jet Nov from the final four right here on the rich Eisen show. Now, that's a New York New jersey guy right there. Oh, yeah. He won't do interviews with us on the radio after the games we see at the assistant coach PJ's refused. So what he have. Would he remembered you is being totally face? Totally a hundred percent PJ. Would remember me? He would remember you. Face. But hey, do you remember, Mike? Coach, amber definitely do. Now, you have post game interviews on cassette tapes. I got a new please bring needed. I got a lot of tapes to transfer rich. There's like I got so you'll be like Mike del tufo after the game. Well, yes, here's what happened. The two. Guys would call the game. I was the engineer. They would get up to leave to go watch the post game press conference. And I we get stuck interviewing the the assistant coach after it was fun. It was I do all time. But PJ refused to be weird. And then the other the other announcement was Michael k and wonder if you sell who are doing the ABC broadcast from New York, they PJ didn't even go to them. He was just imagine. If he had gone to you, Mike view could be Michael case us, I mean like okay would be with. I would love it the best life Capital One player of the week. Is none other than de'andre hunter? What a performance the number of times this kid rose and fired over that tough Texas Tech defense and came up with much needed crucial points to either keep Virginia ahead or keep Virginia on track. Or in the case of the last second shot yesterday in regulation, a huge three wide open. Look that he jarred, and it was all sorts of awesome. Watching this kid do what he could not do last year is PJ said he was not playing in that game against you NBC. But man did he show up did he play and he shined and he is our Capital One player of the week twenty seven points nine rebounds in assistant steel in the national championship game at twenty two of his twenty seven in the second half or overtime..

"bill robinson" Discussed on WFAN Sports Radio_FM

"Sixty six is the phone number hit, the one o'clock CNBC comes your way. Don't Kramer, Ernie Acosta on the other side of the glass. Of course, a big football Friday probably best football weekend in a year with the divisional rounds. Call banks will join us at eleven. It is regular weekly spot. We'll have one of the assistant general managers of the jets will be joining us today, mini meta. He'll join us about the eleven forty and we appreciate the jets given us permission to have many shine. And then we'll do a little baseball as well. With John Hayman. We'll talk about the big met signing Wayne will Manny and Bryce ever signed a contract, bro. Our you. I'm very good because as much as I'm still angry about the jet higher. Michael ownership doesn't act like a big market team. And that does frustrate me, and they should be in on guys. Like, Bryce Harper. Manny Machado goes without saying I was very pleasantly surprised yesterday. Larry because I signing. Well, it took me a while to try to make sense of it. Because he's a good baseball player. We'll start there. I know he was represented by Brodie van wagon. So people like to bring that up and sure I'm sure familiarity has a little bit to do with it. And he is thirty four years old. So it's not like he's twenty five, but he's coming off a year last year in which he was really good job in ninety nine runs at twenty three home runs had an old PS over eight hundred it really good year last year. 'cause I showing the Eastern Conference standings NBA, look who's in the seven spot. We dropped from six though, lousy say Miami. You better look at that. Pretty good. I know I love I love it the way I'm sorry. I didn't meet the jump is the biggest thing for the pistons loss. So the net right is growing. Are you go, but jed Lowrie is a good baseball player. It's a simple statement. And it's true because it's backed up by his career is a good baseball player. But jed Lowry's been a second baseman for the Oakland as he was an all star second baseman for the Oakland A's. So I started to think well, what the hell they gonna do. I mean, they side Robinson can. But I think what they're doing. And I like this is instead of settling in centerfield by signing an Adam Jones, who's probably under a decline by signing. AJ Pollock who's never healthy. They are saying let's get quality baseball players. Let's grow the versatility. And let's just go that route instead of settling in center field. And I think what this also does. And I said this year last week think gets even more. So today last week Jeff McNeil is going to be more of an outfielder. Right. And he isn't it? Center. Well, I would probably say a quarter outfield and then Conforto Nimmo play center because I doubt you're moving a guy that has very little experience in the outfield to center we've seen Conforto played center. We've seen nibble we have and you've got two guys right now who when they're not starting are very good defensive players to come off the bench in kiam Braxton and one lagaras, this is a very versatile baseball team where you can every single day there's gonna be a different lineup, and there's going to be a different defensive alignment, and it also gives you protection against Peter Alonzo not being any good because we don't know what your Alonzo. They also might might want to keep them down for the service type thing to well. I hate that. Well, I know. To deal with that. Yeah. This is a business with the Mets. You're right. A few weeks ago someone called up and asked that question to us. Instead of you worried about Lonzo not being here on opening day and my answer because of construction on the roster was he's going to be here on opening day. Now, I'm not sure exactly because they've given themselves the ability to say, all right? We're gonna play and figure out how they want to align. It let's say Larry at first base. Robbie Canoas second. I'm Ed Rosario at short Todd Frazier. Jeff McNeil third or maybe a different alignment they've given themselves that ability to play someone other than Alonzo Dom Smith at first base. So if we were ripping I was rubbing Brody that there are too many ifs on this team. He's eliminated one of the Fs. Yeah. By bringing in lower yet. Then if it doesn't work at first base negative. If you've got a guy like Lowry if Todd Frazier continues to stink like last year or can't stay healthy. You've got your Lowry. You've got Jeff McNeil. You've got two guys defensively in center field garrison Brockton who made it you don't have to rely on if McNeil's play and left, let's say and Conforto is playing center. So I really liked them. Would I prefer them sign Bryce Harper, Paul? Of course, I mean that goes without saying, but jed Lowrie is a good baseball player. And so for that standpoint. How can I be upset that they signed a good base? He's a good player. I he's thirty four twenty eight Greg. So when he's twenty nine, but I mean, still, I look I sorta move, and I was like, wow. That's a surprising move. Well, I remember a few days ago. John Hayman will join us. Well, John Heyman said the Mets are interested in Brian dosier and my first reassigned with the nationals inning ended up signing a one year deal with Washington. And my first reaction was oh, okay. Bryan. Brian dosier has less versatility than jed Lowrie. Brian only experience a second base. If the Mets would assign them they would've treated in the same way as Lowry, but he'd be learning new positions Lowry's played third. He's actually. Sure, I was very surprised she we drove in almost two hundred runs slash ninety nine. Rod a great year. There's a reason why the Oakland A's had success one of which was Chris Davis was their bullpen. Right. And another factor was jet. La. And he does it have to gold twenty three ninety nine. No, no. If he goes fifteen seventy eight. An every day be contributes to team that you know, makes the playoffs. How about that? That's that's that's what that's what I'm looking out with the Mets. I think they can make the playoffs issue. Why not why not for what they've done which I love is. They've given themselves such depth especially in the infield that if Todd Frazier. They've got the Bill Robinson can right now. The starting lineup to you right now. Batting order. But how do you see the starting lineup? Breaking right now is the catcher. Well. Yeah. Obvious obviously first basis who right now, I think right now, I lean towards one of the veterans that it wouldn't be Alonzo Dom Smith, unless Lowery could all what I don't know which way they're going to line it up like who they feel more comfortable playing first base. But I think you're looking at a four man infield of jed Lowrie Robinson can Allama Desario ratio on this Alonzo goes to camp, and tears it up any outfields McNeil Conforto in against a right handed pitcher. I'd lean that way, I'd lean that way, but again things can change so quickly if keenum Braxton's hidden. Got about him Garissa sitting. I think there's going to be a different line of every day. And it's going to drive us nuts. Sometimes because we're going to say why is he starting this guy? Right. You're going to be looking at a different configuration almost every single day. Whether it's playing the match ups, whether it's lefty righty. I would say it's who's hot. But we know that managers. They don't care about hotness. They don't look at that. But I think it protects them from Lonzo not being ready now, I hope Alonzo is ready because Peter Alonzo's got star potential, and he's young and be for the next five years, and that's great. So ideally, I'd love Peter Alonzo to go to Florida hit three fifty hit eight home runs Butch huskey style. But then unlike Butch huskey actually at the major league level and win a job. I'd say Aaron judge Aaron Jones had the winners right field job two years ago, which is odd to think about Peter Alonzo shoots only be Aaron judge compare them Darren judge, I'm just comparing two hundred Jody aspect that. He has to have a good spring training to win the job. Not that you're gonna turn to Aaron judge the baseball, right? But I think they protect themselves in case he doesn't, and I think that's to me. The most interesting storyline now going into spring training in a few months. Peter Lonzo what does he have to do to get that first base job in the guy? We forget about and I know why we forget about him is down Smith like he's also a fat. It's easy to forget about Don. Smith. The forefront of my mind Dom Smith. But if Dom Smith in spring training hits the cover off the ball who knows maybe he's getting time at first I'm not confident about him. I'm not either. But they they'd given themselves depth. That's what they've done like they're back that their backup shortstop can even be Jedi lower your ideal. Right. I've taken a few calls already saying well who their backup shortstop to yesterday? It was Louis ski or may now. For a short period of time. It's jed Lowrie now. Hopefully, they make other moves. I think it'd be great to add another arm out of the bullpen. I think it'd be great to add another arm to give themselves rotation depth. They did add Hector Santiago a few days ago, who's just got assigned to John. Yeah. Relief pitcher, that's another minor league contract. Yeah. Because if you look at his success over the last few years bouncing around the league, he is a quality left handed relievers. So now you've got to him in Zamora who could potentially make this team. I prefer Andrew Miller Miller is not New York cardinals. Right. So that's not happening. But it's another nice under the radar move. And brought he's been very active. I mean, you look at home. He's done things. Bryce, but he has done. Well, that's the separation. Right, right. I like individually what he's done. I think the Mets are a better team today than they were at the end of last year. It definitely would they've done is. They've added a lot of professional hitters to this lineup. And I love that. And I think that's great. But from an ownership perspective, they continue to be and have that mentality of being a mid to small market team. So that's always going to be frustrating. But like you said you just want to win that. And I think the Mets capable of what I do to the big question is going to be for the teams inside this division are any of these teams adding Manny Machado such as the Philadelphia Phillies are the Phillies adding Bryce Harper are the nationals retaining Bryce operating that's going to go a long way, the telling us the balance of power at least going into the season for this division. But as of right now, I think the Mets have improved more than anybody in this done a good job. I I completely agree with that. I think they really have. I'm optimistic about the Mets going into here. I really am. I got to see what the over under is this year. Maybe I'll dabble with that. You have to be determined. It's I bet you it's going to be over eighty one though. I would agree about eighty. I'll say eighty three and a half. Yeah. I think there's that's what I'm going to say for the Mets. There are a few encouraging things number one the off season. Obviously they've improved themselves. They've added a top notch closer. Ed, wendy. A bunch of professional hitters the bullpen with familiar, but I think there are a few other things that was already giving you optimism even before Brody took the job. And that was the pitching obviously at the top that we saw last year. Jacob degrom take his star to a whole 'nother level, obviously. And we saw Zack Wheeler finally. We went out in the lobby. Definitely did. And I think there's always this this optimism with Noah Syndergaard. Who'd he wasn't bad last year. He wasn't healthy to all year. But he wasn't what maybe we were like them to be what he was pretty good pitcher last you hope that he can be the Zack Wheeler from last year. Jacob degrom front last year. Sorority had that with starting pitching. And then you've got out good baseball players. And so I I liked that movie made me happy now he's gonna move. So thank you to Brodie van wagon for at least for a little bit changing the mood that I had concerning the jet head coaching. Thank you, very much change it that much. But I mean, he did a little bit. There was a glimmer a little bit of a glimmer. Yes. We'll talk more baseball later with John Heyman. We mentioned McNeish meta will join us in the eleven o'clock hour, Carl banks will talk to us. And of course, we'll preview division weekend. In the National Football League. It has been in going Roberts on a football Friday. No an ad from save money on car insurance. By bundling home.
