Song ship thought of boy and his dog and he has to put his dog to sleep because he's old and he has to be put away and he just couldn't do it and elvis sang that song on stage. It was the first song ever saying and not knowing that one day i was going to marry the daughter guy that wrote that song but we of course we shared that with each other and we kept an eye on each other's career. "Hey folks. i'm talking boone. And he's talking to me pat You're sharing stuff. That is just ridiculous. So let's just go back brooklyn high school. This is the fifties you are the big star. You've got three major hits on the charts you perform a brooklyn high three thousand kids and you're opening act is a nobody named elvis aaron presley. Yeah whatever happened to that guy. Well he's around no memory. He's not around a personally but anyway bill randle knew that sun records on which elvis had made one record had been sold to. Rca victor or they had sold the contract or elvis presley to rca. Victor and he hadn't even made a record yet for rca. His first record was heartbreak hotel but he hadn't recorded it yet. What he had recorded was one song to songs. On both sides of a record on sun records out of memphis a little label down there south and was recording not recording but performing on the louisiana hayride a radio show like the grand opera but outta shreveport louisiana louisiana hayride and And so a bill. Randle ask him and got elvis. Whoever was managing to come to cleveland so he could be introduced to the to the teen audience at salk where i was the headliner and going to perform and when he picked me up at the airport bill randle. He's he said is gonna come up from shreveport to to open the program for you tonight and named an a. He's a any told me who who was. What's his name. He said elvis presley. You haven't heard of him. And i said no i have. I heard a record of is on the jukebox in dallas. But i said bill. He's a hillbilly. I mean this was a bill. Monroe song blue moon of kentucky. Keep on shine and it's not rock and roll. I said is going to go over. Well tonight he said well we'll find out because he knew that he'd been signed. Rca victor was excited about this newcomer. So but i was backstage at high school when elvis and his entourage of about three guys came in lamar fi. Thank charlie hodge. Maybe one of his musicians to musicians. And so elvis walked in and his collar turned up his hair long. And kinda grease in then over too long but slipped back in his pants long over some scuffed up white. Black shoes said hi elvis. I'm pat boone's mention and any extended his hand but he didn't shake hands. Just let me shake his hand. Nobody his mom and daddy hadn't instructed him. How a man shakes as he disliked you shake is that was okay. And i said elvis. The bill seems to think that may be some big things ahead for you you signed for. Rca victor i don't know about that also and he just leaned back against the wall and his buddies closed in could tell he was shy. Maybe very nervous and understood why. So i didn't keep talking well. Bill introduced him to and said you know this fellow is but he signed archie victory. Is this give a warm welcome to young elvis presley and he came out any lip sync and guitar. Guitar saint his His record because it was at the soccer you just played the records and the artists would lip synch. In his case he came out and he. He was strumming the guitar. And singing that Blue moon of kentucky. Keep on shine. Well the kids liked him. I tell looking through the curtain that he was a good looking guy and they were buzzing back and forth and he's cute isn't it but then but then he finished his library much like do decide that running for hope you lagging. And he's saying that's all right mama now that's all right with me. It was rhythm-and-blues and they love that. And i loved it and wanted more. But that's all he had one record both sides and when he finished big applause and left then. I was introduced. An i got all the screams that night. Because i had three current hit single since march of that year when i came off finish my part he he had gone and i didn't see him for about a year and a half when we and then we will both renting homes and belair and i to have dinner with him one night at his place. And it said elvis that first night we met in cleveland. I was a little worried for. You seem kinda scared on nervous. Shy he will. He's i didn't know how to talk to you. Man didn't know how to talk to you. What do you mean he said. Well you star said. A star had only been recording since march. Yeah but you had chart records. I didn't know how to talk to you. Socially he was still in high school. I mean he. He had not progressed socially onstage. He was at home he love being any all of its nervousness came out in his performance which was appealing but but socially he was uncomfortable and so he. He didn't wanna talk to me anymore because he didn't know what to say to me because in his eyes at that moment i was a big star though i only had an eleven month. Thank god head start but we became very good friends after that visited a lot. Bench played touch football on sunday sometimes with his buddies in mind. And and we we. You know compared each other's careers often and on because we were both at twentieth century fox after that with movie contracts and his his dressing room was separated from mine at twentieth of by one guy. Ab- actor you may have heard of nate carey grant harry grant so let me get rate. You is cary grant and elvis presley. Three rooms did you get to hang out with cary grant. We've only got seconds left. We're going to actually hold that thought because this is this is all too much folks. This is too much. I'm talking to pat boone or somebody. Who's doing a pretty astonishing impression of pat boone. We're gonna have to look into this later. But i'd like continue conversation with whoever it is. Don't go away gama giving you the one that is going to have a wonderful time.

"I really enjoyed it season. And i'm i. I actually hope that they do. Draw the nets in the first round. I think that's series would be terrific minus of course the wizards versus the nets which is the series that i was born to watch Okay so i guess no. Randall is the first thing that kind of pops to my head with you and your team What what gives. They're very tough cut. You know i've i've had. I've had a fun time. I think this year with both randall. And levin and i wanna to give credit i mean the last time we really talked about these guys in death was for all star selections and i was pretty down on both of them. Randall proved me wrong. Down the stretch man. He's had an awesome year. The hot shooting has continued to play making has been good enough. I think defensively he's fine. He's not great but he's a lot better overall player than he was a year or two ago as he deserves to be in this conversation. Now ultimately i view the knicks a little bit as a cute story right there just riding this wave and they're maxing out their potential. I don't really trust him. In the playoffs. You know in terms of being able to lead an offense consistently. He's had a number of opportunities in big moments to come through and hit shots in a lot more often than not when i've seen it hasn't always been great. The box score numbers are huge. But he gets the do. Everything has a very wide birth. And i just think that the knicks their records better than they actually are kind of how i look at it and you know paul george denominator season. Tatum phenomenal seas. Those are my forwards. I would take both those guys over randall. Still not really think twice about it right so the only argument would be well. Randall's you know had amazing health. This year he's played ungodly amounts of minutes. So you should have him on and lebron off which is basically what you did. I'm sorry there's very few situations ever. I would take Randall over lebron. I think i'd take lebron random five years from now. Frankly so. I just couldn't do it. I mean he's played. He's played a thousand more minutes than lebron. A thousand will he should be number one. And that's gonna come back to pay a price you know. That's it's congratulations to him for being able to do it and stay healthy and hold up. It's a huge credits. Very jimmy butler like back in the day but You know that's part of the reason why i think they're over. Achieving is because tibbs. Is you know playing his main guys huge minutes and they're not going to have another gear to go into the playoffs. When all these other teams start ramping up there guys minutes when it actually counts right so it was a tough cut. I mean for me guys. Like bill randle zairian booker mitchell. Those were some of my toughest. Gods and randall was right near the top of that list but the positional thing did kind of throw things off As we're trying to find spots where these different guys you know if you're gonna accuse me of anything it's probably being a little bit deferential to veterans right None of my guys are really newcomers in any degree out of my fifteen players. They've all been in this. Mix before i guess bam could be the only exception billy. Wh- reason i took him was. Because i was forced to because of this centre positional change and I'm fine with that. Like i didn't think that you know randall. Had the best case for a guy who improved the most to try to climb into this category. But i still wasn't completely convinced that he was there you know..
