"By the way, Um Really like what they did with Charles Woodson. And surprising him. This has become a tradition now, David Baker. Who runs the Hall of Fame. Surprise Jimmy Johnson last year. I thought it was really well done that they fox. The people were Fox. We set up, Jimmy. They surprised Joe Buck. They supply surprise trade eggman, and this year they got they got Charles Woodson. David Baker is a fascinating individual. At some point, Anthony put it on the list of things we need to do. We should get David Baker on on the show if we can next week. He's fascinating. He's 6 FT nine and £400. He usually wears that really bright, robust blue suit with the red tie. He switched it up a little bit on Charles Woodson. But this guy looks like he played football. But he really played basketball. He just loves football, and I know that he's been trying desperately. You bring the Super Bowl to Canton, where the pro Football Hall of Fame is. I'd love that. They've kind of revamp things down there. I don't know if if Canton really has the capacity to do it, although this would have been the year to do it in Canton. Because obviously there restrictions on how many people can actually be there and You could have people in the hotels and Akron and Cleveland if you needed to. But he's been trying desperately needed to get that super get a Super Bowl in Canton. They wanted it during the 1/100 anniversary, but that wasn't going to happen, but it's cool to see David Baker. Show up because you can't mistake him. It's not like he's somebody else. He's 6 FT. Nine and £400 he get on Lee be David Baker. He Sam Baker's dad, remember Sam Baker, the tackle? That's his dad, who's in charge of the whole Hall of Fame. Seen Charles Woodson be I know that Charles probably had a good indication that he was going to the Hall of Fame. But You to get that call. Or in this case, have David Baker's show up behind you While you're doing an interview, to let you know that you're going into the Hall of Fame seems pretty special. This is a really fascinating list. Of people who got in. If you're just waking up like, well, then who did get it? Peyton Manning, Obviously. Allen, Fan Icka, Charles Woodson, Calvin Johnson, John Lynch, Bill Nunn, Drew Pearson. And Tom Flores. I'm glad that in the year where Cores is doing the commercials. With Tom Flores that he actually does get into the Hall of Fame. It's really made no sense, like he's one of he was one of four coaches. That it won two Super Bowls. And not been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Super Bowl champions from the 1918 1983 season. With the Raiders. And away. I think he's win percentages on Lee behind Bill Belichick's 73% more. His team's 1 73% of the games that they played..

"What? What was your reaction to Richard Sherman's comment today? That boy if I were to, Shawn, I'd get my butt to the Jets immediately. I think my reaction was Richard's saying, In other words, hate to Sean. Come join me because I want to go The Jets too, right? Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, solids got that kind of pull with these guys, doesn't he? He does, he has to write. I mean, there. He's their guy. I don't know Joe Douglas. The GM of the Jets, for what I've heard is he's I think he's very confident at his job. You look at his drafts. I think he's done a good job. I think from what I've heard from people who know him, he's a straight shooter, So I think he and Saul are gonna get along and Actually the number one rule for the GM is, you know, you talk to the head coach and the coaching staff and who fits your system. And who do you want? Let's go get him and I think In the case of Richard Sherman. I think a lot of his best football is behind him. But even if it's Even if he is on the decline. He is still the kind of guy that can help you establish your program and he's such a smart guy, and he's such a good teammate. And for Robert Sallah, I think if if they were to bring in Richard Sherman to him to his team, and I think Sherman would would probably view himself as half player half coach because That's the kind of impact that he would have. But you're bringing in your defense of system. I mean, I can't think of anybody better to kind of establish that culture in the locker room, then Richard chairman, So I'm sure German wants to be there. I would think that solid would want him announce a matter of seeing if they can work this thing out and get it done. Now I know the Hall of Fame voting wrapped yesterday You were a part of that. What is that whole process like by the way? Well, this one was different. This was a eight hour 47 minutes Zoom meeting started yet started at 6 A.m. here 6:30 A.m. here on the West Coast. But usually it takes place that day before the Super Bowl, and there's usually a hard out. We need to get our votes in and and all the discussion has to be completed by usually around two o'clock because They need to have David Baker, the the president of the Hall of Fame, go over to the hotel and knock on some doors. I think, get everybody over to the NFL Honors show, so this one was different because we did a cut down from 15 modern era file. "His shades of gray right ca spike isn't interested. In only dividing the ruled by color, he is dividing up. You know all of the people in the neighborhood by how they feel about each other in every rubric you know. Why do I keep using the word rubric and? It's happening. Do you have a Rubik's Cube I I'm very bad at them. Little Steve White who actually played one of the neighborhood. Kids who end to spend a lot of time screaming ossie Davis, which would be so hard because it's Uh freaking Davis I mean US Davis like he and Ruby. Dee, the people like even after this movie they went out. They were like they both got arrested for protesting when Ahmadou Allah was shot like they really put their bodies on. On the line for art, and for politics, they were amazing, and so Steve White was like. How am I supposed to yell at Ossie? Davis How am I supposed to look at this epic lion figure in scream at him eight. He apologized him. He's like I'm so sorry. I'M GONNA have to yell at you and Nas Davis just like bring it on whippersnapper. Do Your job I love it. Yeah like ossie. Davis character strengths so many things to win mother sister over. He tries flowers politeness. He's very old world Tim's his hat, but what he really does is, she's as controlled woman who's not speaking a lot of the time to him. She won't even acknowledge him, and it's at the end when everything burns down that she is her break down there screaming like no, no, no over and over again. That's one of the worst things to see. Is this woman who's just so broken that she can't even container self anymore the way she's been in? That's kind of gets finally invited over where she will actually acknowledged him. Will you know again? I think about this idea of the film being like a play or a parable, or you know it's like she's overseeing the neighborhood. She's a she is mother Earth's right to a certain degree in the, and now there is like this issue, and and it's like it is affecting her. She's like in a weird way. She is the protector of the block. And when this happens, it's the total disorder like it's a credibly powerful moment. On great performances. We've talked a lot about this character, but not this actor. I mean Bill Nunn who plays radar is amazing in this film. I want to kind of go back and play another Soliloquy. There's a beautiful one that he does about.

"I take from northern Illinois Sutton Smith. He's an outside linebacker that can also transition to inside a little bit underweight, but still he's a high guy. I love saying that he's a high motor guy. The second six round pick is Ahah bugs defensive end or defensive tackle. Depending on how you want to word that from Alabama third round the third sixth round pick. Ulysses Gilbert, the third what a name linebacker from Akron, and they finished it out in round seven with a guard Derwin gray. They said he's very position flexible from the university of Maryland. So with that said, I welcomed Dave Scofield to the show. Dave it's over. What are your thoughts on day three day three? This is quite a long process. I mean, even the Steelers by round six felt that they needed to take a big Pooh. I was gonna say something that is the nickname of the Alabama line. That's not. Yeah. Okay. Go continue. Please. That's that's the Brian mail bag. Spending way too much time together. Yes. Other than that about the only other thing that I could say is I felt like I was a senior in high school again. Brian understand this because I I was getting flashbacks to to the British are and be artists. Mark Morrison and his infamous one hit wonder return of the Mack. That's a great song. With tune. Yes. It was you know, to see that the Steelers going over all three well, especially yesterday today going with three players out of the MAC. That's pretty that's pretty good. But, hey, if if you've got the right people there to find the talent go find it wherever it is. It doesn't matter where it comes from a kind of feels they need because let's be honest. The knack is very often overlooked conference in terms of of drafting and scouting maybe the Steelers just like when Bill Nunn senior went into the historically black colleges and started to draft there. He was kind of revolutionary. I'm not saying this is the only people that draft from the MAC conference. But they probably I had this would be something interesting. Dave is to take a look and see who drafted the most MAC players in the last few years. And I don't know how tough that would be. That's that by be a lot on your. But it's one of the things that comes through my head. So there you go. Brian davis. What do you think about daydream what very happy with the three one of my more favorite day threes of all time. I was going in the same direction as Dave but a little bit different. So for dinner tonight. It's not going to be healthy. I'm going to McDonald's. I'm gonna have a Big Mac, but when have ten of them because big ten and MAC seven players four from the big ten three from the MAC. So that's at ten big Macs for me, baby. Wow. Yeah. I guess I never thought of it that way, I guess in the especially in the states rounders kind of rapid fire getting an article ready. And then you gotta get next article ready because they have three picks around. Yeah. It's the big. It was crazy. How just seem to really be focused in on that one territory in the scouting department. Does have territories whoever scouted that that territory for the Pittsburgh Steelers? My goodness day. You just look at the overall scheme of. Where they pick these players from. They all came from the same area. All right. Let's go ahead. The only other thing is the alternative to that was two players from the SCC, and I do not want to be investigated by the SEC for anything. So I'm thinking that maybe that Big Mac is a better bet. I will say this that right now in the live chat, and you're watching live on YouTube. Currently you can head over to the live chat. We always have a great community there with a lot of good discussion. You know, most you were saying love the draft. While the draft were saying that we thought they three was great and someone says worst draft on paper in the last forty years..

"No. Any you still like? Not actually in the Prager he when he says you're ugly, never. It's not just the line. I mean, he's terrified and it's something that's religious because we get to see him doing that. And I think that's part of what stays with us. We didn't think about it, but it's part of what stays with us, and it's just it's everything right then it's everything. It's the lines. It's the beefcake. It's the, it's the, it's the bullet count. It's mowing down a jungle which they should've done. That should have been the plan guys. It's just that we're gonna. We're gonna land. MAC you, hey, you guys go down the jungle. Nobody could just sit about it from the beginning of the movie. We wanna make that movie predator. And there for. Fill everything or America. Fire into the jungle thirty three straight minutes. The predator. Catching my breath to your timing is so offer my timing. So I don't know who's time he's off. Bill Bill forty, Miami thing. That's the issue. My forget yourself to delay Kagan. I am looking at Bill. I am looking at pictures of him on the radio Raheem. Okay. How how radio radio, right. Even question is how. The questions had I mixed up? Yes, yes. That's why agree to stake on my part because they look nothing. I mean nothing like radio Raheem, even that great Fadi at the hair, you styling the rings and everything. Oh my gosh. Then he was in school as to Bill, they'll do put in school. They Teagan. Hold on a minute. Let me get my glasses. Oh, yeah, definitely. Bill Nunn looking. Oh my gosh. Do you remember I, here's what I'm afraid of. Now, here's what the issue is the rest. Any other interview I ever do you guys if I disagree with you on anything sports related or related, you can always just say to me, built on. Take me back to the teenage, Keegan, Michael key. And again, the predator is in theaters this weekend, this weekend. She go see it, but the the fourteen year old, Keegan, Michael key who sees the moment where Carl weathers his arm is gonna come off and he's in the arm is going to continue to shoot bullets into the jungle even though it's no longer on his body. How did that go for you and how much did it scar you. It's actually the opposite of scarring me. 'cause I thought what that meant was if I did big and I must, I actually thought if I get muscles big, it means my limbs can operate independent of my body working out now. I probably would I probably did is I probably woke up my friend day Macfarlane's dad Dennis in 'cause I probably went. Like that. I, I was unscarred because I thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen in a movie in up to that point. But you can do that Grammy say, we cut the tickets head off. The body keeps running around why we're good humid arm. That was my whole thing again, loved it. I absolutely love. I thought that movie was the only other concern I was thirteen was that I was working for the soldiers, like, wouldn't it be cool if the disembodied arm healed another person. At the same time. The predator laughing. The only the only other problem they missed an opportunity for a great line there. That's when Dutch scream loud. You've been unarmed. What should have happened? Yes, that is, but should have happened in a story. Right, right. Thank you, sir. We appreciate the time. Lot of laughs appreciate it. Thank you for being on with us. Always always a blast. It's so good. It's good to hear from you. Get. Thanks for calling. Please go see the movie. Yes, sir. Donlevatar my hair is unfashionably age inappropriate long. "She's lose it. And honestly, I was like, real, it was great. Oh, man. That was funny. All the time. Like I remember the Catholic school. Almost everything you did. I remember. French kissing. If you got caught like he's going to help like the spear put into, it's it's, it's really, really messed. It was feared really, really messed. I thought French kissing was. You're going to burn for eternity. So honestly, in light of that sense, chopping up your fingers and mailing them to you is not as bad that's bad. No, no, no. But she that she doesn't have the authority to chop your fingers. It wasn't going to. She says, you. She says, you think that that's what she's gonna do. That's like that's tortured us, I know. But you're making kids thing going to. And yeah, and then like the end, I mean, like you have this little like three stooges acts going on with Harvey Keitel and his two Google. So dumb of core. I always love when movies have. You know gangsters who are only like who only have like two henchmen. Not big. Big guys. You're supposedly this big crime boss, but he has literally to two henchmen and one lawyer. He had a cop. Hop on a competence Pero Pero and Bill Nunn just comes in and punches that cop and says, we found the. How you boys and literally everyone just goes, okay, how did he know it? Was him not not enough happens enough habits for this for to justify him, just plunging the guy I was like, wait average, and. Putschist crew and tells the other people lock them up, but there's, there's there's no, he's not the chief. He's not the head right. It didn't know the sector. Another detective watching. I've watched the scene so many times and I've gone and I and when I what happens each time is. I write for myself lines that he's saying on the phone, so so we because we never actually see that cop, do anything wrong. We never. How did you ever see him do anything? We see him like look through it and notice that there's a donation made to the church. That's it. And we see Harvey get a phone call. Oh, you're right. We don't, but we don't see him. We don't see him. We don't see him make the phone call and I always write lines in being like, oh, you know, Dolores is at, but we never see and Bill Nunn never. Here's anything like, well, here's the thing I. The film making of it shows that he is the Bagai because he sees the thing. We know there's a a mole already thing, and then harbor cartel gets the phone calls. So we the audience know what them. The only thing that happens is Bill Nunn is coming back upstairs and the guy goes, I thought you were went away and he said, I forgot my keys or something like that. He just says, I forgot something and the guy goes, okay. I gave the pay stubs to get things you're supposed to sign to this other dude, whatever his name is Kent. Let's just call it. I gave it to Ken and Bill. Nunn just looks up like wait a minute, and it doesn't make any sense why he would think it that kente taking. That means that he was figuring you don't even know the new figure out what note does not true because radio Raheem knows how to deal with the police. He knows what ready Rahim. He was in Brooklyn baby. He knew what cops messed up. He knew round. Right, right. Giraffe, right. Well, he's, he's not yet. He's not playing right around him right now. I say he was playing radio Raheem. He is radio right hand..

"If she does that like, oh, she should do this or she should do that. But then also there all she was like they were all like white men. And actually like a apparently like most of them were Jewish and like he's like, there's just a bunch of like Jewish white men in a room talking about like nuns in like they knew nothing about anything and and that they, they said, like some gross stuff like we have to make sure we have none. That's, you know, staying really. They didn't say what I said, bang. They use it different word. Wow, that wasn't profitable, but what could it be. What's the word was, you know they didn't want. They were like, oh, we don't wanna do interracial. We don't really wanna show the interracial romance on screen and like, so then they had like Bill Nunn kind of turned it down. They turned down like a lot of the sex jokes that the guy wanted originally to have because he was like, oh, real. I mean, even the guy who wrote it though, I was like, oh, this guy is probably I don't know about this guy either. 'cause like the idea that you had the idea like he came up with the idea because he was like, why is it funnier to see a man in drag in like address but not a woman in three piece suit, which is like, okay, well, maybe it's funnier to you because of your gender. Yeah, stereotypes, but whatever. Like let's move past that. And he said, he's like, oh, what would be funny though is to see like a woman of very like secular kind of loose woman in a nun in like a repr- sexually repressed, kind of none glow. Really? Yeah. We're like, that's where the initially came. Yeah, it's funny like came to because it's like it's like Disney five, but I was like, actually, I think it's better that. Got this. Yeah, for sure. It's like a much nicer film. But yeah, and then they. And then they have her takeover the choir, and she starts teaching them how to sing. It's like a fun. Like, you know, little thing, they sing that Omah rea- send to Maria, whatever. Yeah, it's crazy. It's crazy. Because like I mean, we've already sort of touched on this already, but like that doesn't happen for an hour. It's true, right? Yes. It takes a long, long season that it feels like the reason that it feels like, doesn't that happen right away? Like isn't that what the movie's about? And I think the reason that that's what it feels like the movie is about is because of the sequel like because sister act two is so focused on the music. We, we miss remember what's what the first sister act is about, which is just this. This woman, this very secular woman gets gets stuck in a in a convent for three months. A genuine relationship with those nuns, and then they both help each other grow. It's like Riley more about that and less about the music is like one of the ways in, but it wasn't the only way like like they made a point of she, you know, helps them to reach out to the community in public and and they do these. They turn the backyard into a kids playground, see, you know, they're like hanging out with the youth on the street and they're cleaning up graffiti or making the graffiti into something else like they're revitalizing the community, which is what you would hope from a religious institution. The that's kind of the idea behind it is that it's not a place to hide and escape the secular world. It's supposed to be a place of influence. You're supposed to help better the world around you not just like kind of. Hideaway, which is what was happening. And they took a real thing that was happening in the Catholic church, which is, you know, covenants closing down there. So many less people joining the. Sisterhood or the priesthood, and you have a world that is more and more secular. And so the Catholic church became more and more kind of seen as archaic and people were leaving it in. There weren't as many people there..

"I felt she doesn't get enough respect because I feel like we think about legends when people talk about the legendary actors, people talk about Marlon Brando we'll talk about, you know, people will talk about when it comes to comedy, Robin Williams. People will talk about. You know so many famous people think when people talk about payments, actresses or actors general, she's never in your top ten. You know what I mean? Vertically accomplished everything she has. She's never listed as someone's. We're talking about the the review pockets by like listless. Think about how often do you really think about? We'll be Gobert because she pops up every now and stuff. She's in Brasilia for goodness sake. So she's in the mix for like, young people should know who she is. I think something she's talk show host now. True. So that's I think it has a lot to do with. I think it has a lot to do with that. And I also think it has a lot to do with like how I mean, I don't know, but how she was able to how she was able to expertly play both sides. Right? And then she had done so much that, like I dunno like her focus changed like we talk about, we talk about the grates because they often like keep doing the same thing over and over and over and they're. Undeniably the grates at that, but she did it. She, she did so much that like, you know, she's an she is an e. She is multifaceted. She is. She wanted to a room and you'd be like you'd be like, that's will be Goldberg. You would give it that respect, but you wouldn't give her like, oh, she is the greatest blank because she did so much. Maybe maybe not hear what you're saying. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. For some reason, I don't know why, but I was watching a documentary on Robin Williams and she's in a lot of course, and I'm just like, man, we all know how how dope Williams was. We all know how great Gary Shalin is, but like how often do we even comedy? Whereas how often do we talk about what? Because what he's done. A thing where her first role was a drama which she was nominated for an Oscar, you know, as a comedian, technically, and I'm like. I mean, she's bigger than Gary Shanley I, this is the name he was in a doctor so as native popped into my head, but in flippy passes when she passes away because she will because she's human, is you? No? No, she's not when she does. She'll have HBO documentary about her too. I was gonna say that to like like those two guys are dead and like we're talking about them and we're talking about the legacy. I definitely think that her legacy will be celebrated. Has she gotten what like a lifetime achievement from anywhere yet? I mean, that's weird. That's a good question. She should be getting definitely an Academy Award lifetime achievement award. She should over one, whatever, right? I mean, she has one, but she deserves the best. She deserved a best actress one. Yeah, yes, especially, she's a definitely lifetime achievement award for sure. So anyway, continuing with the with the movie. I like I like how quickly the plot like it's like very quick. They, you know, she, she goes, she's like, I'm going to give this Kopach. She walks in. It's film pretty well of the, you know, there are going to shoot this guy and they shoot him right when she walks in. And then she runs away because she cures over here is them saying like if you know if she runs waster over and so she runs away, it's kind of like a comedic chase scene. And then and then she goes to the police and that's where Bill Nunn is like, you know, look, we're going to put you into witness protection. You got to testify against him and I, she's apprehensive. And then she's like, okay. And then he's like, I'll put you're no one will find you and then cut to, you know, Maggie Smith, Maggie Smith. First of all we were. I mean, it's like she crystallized a certain age. It's I was thinking she's done, jeez. She's been like sixty five for forty years. Yes, I was thinking exact same thing like she just stayed the same age. I don't unders- I truly don't understand it because this is nineteen ninety two. She looks exactly the same in one thousand nine hundred ninety two as she does in like two thousand eight in Harry Potter..

"I wish it wasn't like all white nuns. It didn't have to be thought about that when I was watching it. I was watching it with my friend and she looked the same thing. I went to a Catholic school my entire life from from kindergarten, technically my college, but I, I've never seen a black man like these hour two now from, Yup, not not one, not one, black, non right ever. And but but Catholicism is really big in Latin America, so they're easily could have been Mexican or some sort of, you know, let Tina none. Yeah, think personally, but that being said whatever it was kind of like it was one of those things where you're just like, I feel like in a different in a different era. They would have a little bit more diversity in the none cast that being said, I think they were just like, I mean, it's hilarious. It's like it's just another thing to make her different. So to have all them, these old white women, you know, like, oh. Women's singing Motown hits. Just like so. I mean, it's it's a fun movie. And I did like, and I thought Bill Nunn was it's like Bill none. None a little action scene, which was cool. Like he got to be, you know, a very, very, very tame romantic interest. I don't even know if you all in a romantic interest. I think in another script and if it was if you know this is kind of like one of those things where like Whoopie Goldberg was being sexualize a little bit kind of she talked about, but they like tamed it down. You could tell like the older scripts like had her like more intersex. And this one was like, I don't know the politics of black woman, and you know, talking about sex with a white man like Harvey tell like, I don't know, you know. So they only have like one like or maybe two pecks on the cheek. You know what I mean? Like he already didn't even really kiss even though they're essentially just having sex. That's the relationship. That's why she's met right. So anyway, it's fun like, yeah, those were the things that of stuck out to me. But let's let's let's go through man though. I mean, we have to note this again and for newer listeners. We've realized that in a lot of comedy, starring black comedians, they will always have an opening scene with that character as a child. And like we're like, what is this trend? And you know, one of our hypothesis is that you have to get the white audiences on this character side right away and you're like, look at them as a child like just like you. They were human like look kid. They're cute, cute. And now this is an adult. I don't like it. Actually think about that. I don't think that this scene felt I was thinking about that too. Watching this. It was like, why we didn't need it. I know. Didn't runny, but we didn't need it at all. It could have been completely cut and the movie the movie would've worked without it completely like some of the other movies like they like work it in like, look, they've always been this way like they've always had a dream of whatever. But like she's not even singing. She's not even singing in that scene like it doesn't even connect to what we see her doing as an adult like this this scene more than than other ones. But we've noted in like Kevin Hart movie is is almost every black com. Yeah, and this one more than more than others. I'm just like the only reason you put us in was so the audience could be like, oh, this this little blacker Oshii has a little attitude. She had a little. Because it's like, I guess if anything that the most that it does it stab that she actually used the habit connection to the Catholic church. One way she went to Catholic school, Jesse need it, but we don't..
