"Wanted to see in Green Bay. I brought this up yesterday. Do the jets want Aaron Rodgers more than the packers want to get rid of Aaron Rodgers. Yes. Like I said, I think if Aaron would have said, guys, I'm all in. Man, I wasn't sure, but I'm ready to go. There's legacy tied to this, Dan. Remember Mark Murphy has to retire in a couple of years. That's the codicil in the presidency for the Green Bay Packers. So when you reach a certain age, you must retire. So he's got legacy on this. He wanted another championship, and I think he really wanted another championship with Aaron Rodgers. And Rogers had told me years ago, he said, look, if I win another Super Bowl, I will be the most decorated, Super Bowl era winner in Green Bay history. Go back to even Bart Starr, who got a couple of them, but with the records with the passing numbers, and then with two super bowls, he's by far the best quarterback in Green Bay Packers history. That's what he wanted. So there was a lot of that want there. It was just the level of commitment to the want is what they were hoping for. Better legacy far for Rogers and Green Bay. I think far, far, went to two super bowls and he also reignited titles entitled town and started all of this. Look, Lambeau Field does not get rebuilt if it isn't for Brett Favre. You go back to God love bob Harlan and the former president of the Green Bay Packers. I remember sitting with him there the night that they were hoping for the Brown county tax to get passed. And I said, bob, what's plan B? He looked at me with a tiered design, said, Bill, there is no plan B if we don't get this, we don't get a new stadium. We don't know what we're going to do. We'll probably have to move. And it was because of Brett Favre, the success of the packers, the resurgence of the packers that all of this then come to fruition and then the legacy has since been extended. And now it is a literal Taj Mahal of football. It is hallowed ground and it will stay there forever. But they were that close to leaving Green Bay, I believe. Great to talk to you, Bill. Thanks for joining us. Thanks guys. It's Bill Michaels hosted the Bill Michael show in WOT a.m., the franchise. And our local affiliate in Green Bay. I did not know that or remember that, that Favre was that instrumental in getting a new stadium or keeping Green Bay. I don't know if they would have moved to Milwaukee, but that probably because they used to play games there. I remember watching when Don makowski was the quarterback, and I watched them play in Milwaukee, one of those games. A couple of phone calls, let's see. Andy and Kansas. Hi, Andy, what's on your mind today? All right, all right. It's probably. Late. I'm actually calling because I have a 14 IP report. Okay. I had to put on grandma's 11 list for this one. So we all know that Rogers has a wish list. But this isn't a wish. This is actually a demand. Bloggers will sign in place of New York Jets if and only if the jets also signed Jordan love the roger can be his daddy for two more years. Thank you, Andy. Thank you. Big wind up there. About the 70th person used that joke. Big wind up there. Jeff in Detroit, hey, Jeff. Wow. How can I follow that? Easily. I know, listen. On behalf of brothers and sisters at chat roe Paul, we know how much you love the fuss and attention. We stay Pauly strong. Then you called it, man, listen. Pat McAfee throwing, I mean, Aaron Rodgers throwing pat McAfee a bomb. That's looking out for your peoples. And you've been saying it for a week or two. He should go on there. Nobody is happier, than the Detroit fan base. I mean, Bill wizard, the DJ play built with his lovely day to day because him getting up out of the NFC north. You figured we got Jared Goff going on in second year. We got the same OC. It's no reason why they shouldn't achieve now. With Aaron Rodgers, this man has been for the last 15 years since he's been starting, has been dubbed thorn in my side, but him going somewhere else is wonderful. My question is this. Over under national televised games for next year, if we're thinking, he's going to sign with the jets. So yeah, but I think there is something with the NFL and the number of nationally televised games you could have are prime time games. I think it's 5. Poly have you seen any language on that? Yeah, it's more so there is a balance. They can't overload any one team, a certain amount. They have to be good fairness to all teams, but it's early enough in the process where they could change schedules. Oh, yeah. Well, you already know who you're going to play. It's placement. When you're going to play them. Correct. odds for coach of the year and the NFL are out according to DraftKings? Who would like to guess the odds on favorite to be the NFL coach of the year, Todd? Sean Payton, no. Seat no Connor. Bob Saleh. No. He's third on the list. Sean Payton is second on the list. Marv. I was going to say Robert silo. That would be wrong. He's still third on the list. Pauly? I think I'm going to avoid going with Robert stala. He's third on the list. Just double checking. Don't go Sean Payton. He's second of all. Did Dave ball win it this year? NFC? Yes, he did. I would go, Doug Peterson, the Jaguars. Doug Peterson of the Jaguars. The dug or not. He's not, no, he's not one of the top 5. Really? Frank Reich is 5th, Matt eberflus. Let's go, Matt, Robert sala, Sean Payton, Dan Campbell of the lion. Okay. Yeah. Sneaky. Well, he could have been last year with what they accomplished. You know, they just lost a couple of games early. I like the lines. And what else do we have here? Barry and Santa Fe. Hi, Barry. Welcome back. What do you have for me? Good morning, fellas. Good morning, chat grow. I have a best of the Wednesday and a worst of the Wednesday. That's the Wednesday. Jay, E, T, S, jets, jets, jets. I know he's a kook. I know his best days are behind him, but I think we're going to get I'm going to show you who's boss Rogers. These guys have a 5 on competition. Their whole lives and I think he's going to he's going to do very well in New York. The worst of the Wednesday. Edwin Diaz is. Celebrating there's always something with this S and team. I can't take it anymore. Yes, Puerto Rico defeated the Dominican Republic in the world baseball classic. And Edwin Diaz, the closer for the mets, they were jumping up and down around the mound and looked like he introduced his name. They had to have a wheelchair come out. Take him off. If I would have said, hey, you know, Puerto Rico won, they carried Edwin Diaz off and be like, all right, yeah. Yeah, what did he do? No, he got hurt. That's why the mets can't have nice things. Yes, pun. But can owners keep players from playing in these type of events when it means a lot to these players. They're clearly means a lot to risk your career to play in it. I would have a problem. I know it's for your country, and you want to say to those players. We know how important it is. But they're going to have to keep paying him. Steve

"Your host Matt. Welcome to the show. How is everyone doing this week? Before we begin, I just want to say, please consider supporting the show on Patreon dot com slash index of plants. Monthly support from my patrons makes this show possible. So if you're enjoying it, you gotta thank them because I literally would not be doing this without their support. But today it's a very fun episode. My friend Bill Michael from the field guides podcast joins us again to talk about a subject that I have always taken for granted and that is the chemical toxicity of black walnut juglans nigra. If you like me and you live in eastern North America, you've grown up hearing, don't plant things under a black walnut. They produce a lelo chemicals, essentially compounds that aren't used for growth and reproduction that enter the soil and toxify it for other plants. And this is supposed to help them get into leg up on the competition. This is something I've repeated time and time again to friends and family members, looking for recommendations, but as you're going to hear, it's not that straightforward. In fact, it may not be that story at all. I'm going to let Bill tell you all of the interesting details what they uncovered because they did this for an episode on their podcast. The field guides. Go check it out because they do a much more thorough job at covering this tree in a broader sense. We're not going to talk about everything black walnut today, but we are going to drill in on sort of the unnecessary hype around the allele pathy of black walnut. So let's just jump right into it without further ado. Here's my conversation with Bill Michael. I hope you enjoy. All right, Bill Michael eck, welcome back, my friend, it has been a while since we've last had you on the podcast, but for those that don't listen to your podcast or know who you are, let's start off with a brief intro. Tell everyone a bit about who you are and what it is you do. Sure, hi, my name is Bill Michael eck, and I'm a occasional guest on this podcast. But your podcast was one of the inspirations behind me and my co host Steve fleck starting the field guides podcast. Nice. So Steve's been on your podcast before. Long before you and I was, I think. But what we do is we pick a natural history topic. We research the recent science behind that topic and then go out to a national spot and share what we learned and then make try to make funny comments and make it enjoyable and make it seem like you're on a walk with friends because 5 years ago or however long ago it is now that we started it, we looked around and said, you know, there's not really a podcast like that. Most nature podcasts are fairly straightforward and they're great, but I love going for hikes with friends and making bad puns and making silly comments and it helps me learn. It helps me remember stuff. So we tried to do it monthly, but Steve and I both have lives and a lot going on. So we are always in awe of how regularly you get a podcast out, but I do have to say we have to do what I think we have to do a lot more research than you do. Yeah, I just get to be a nerd and ask questions. I get to rely on my guests. You bring people on and do the heavy lifting, right? Right, exactly. Exactly. No, I think you guys succeed in every way shape and form. I love it because it's a chance to feel like I'm hiking with you guys again, but I know many of my listeners listen to your podcast. It regularly comes up in the also, you should try sections of Spotify and iTunes. But I can't recommend it enough. The field guides podcast. It is such a pleasure. And you say puns like it's something bad. I love them, but you also have a touch of irreverence that just makes me smile because I'm a cold hearted person. My core. Yeah. And that kind of leads right into what we're going to talk about today, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was inspired by one of your episodes. And you said recent science, but I know from this episode and others that sometimes you kind of have to go digging because when we talk about natural history, especially in the way that you guys approach it, which is so refreshing nowadays, because a lot of science doesn't deal with that anymore. So sometimes you gotta dig a little bit to get into the interesting natural history side of the science rather than sort of highfalutin mathematical modeling and theoretical approaches. Right. And my background is definitely not that. I'm an educator working chiefly with kids. So Steve kind of brings the more the research background and I bring more of the education background. So my goal, I think one of the things that makes our podcast interesting is there's definitely kind of a push and pull between us because he's out always trying to raise the bar in terms of what we're covering in terms of depth and quality. And I'm always trying to, I don't want to say jump it down 'cause I'm not, I'm just trying to make it as accessible to as many people as possible. Because I mean, to me, that's why I got into natural history and into teaching is because I'm hoping I can get people into it and hopefully they'll make a difference. But you're right because a lot of times when we pick a topic, we might not be able to find recent papers on that topic. So we have to do some digging. And what we're going to talk about today for some reason, there hasn't been a ton of recent research on it. Yeah, totally. And again, another way you succeed is I really appreciate that sort of, I call it a tug of war that you guys are doing, but it's not a war. It's fun. And one thing I really want to commend you on you specifically as an educator, especially someone that deals with younger children, like we're talking young kids. Is you

"Fantastic. We got to great locations. We worked around the weather and we used the weather to I think enhance our shots and got some great feedback. Not only from you, Derek, and from Scott from the other 7 people in the workshop as well. Yeah, I thought the conversations were pretty good. Pretty good. And Michael, you use this opportunity to try some different techniques. Yeah, I did. It was fun to take each location and figure out what sense you had about the location. And then try to express that in the technique you use. Right. So that was fun for me, especially since I was at the humble workshop. And it was in a way continuous with that. I enjoyed it. It's almost like an extension for you, wasn't it in a way. Yeah. I mean, it was from the forest and the redwoods to the forest here and then the variety of other environments. It's a lot of fun. It's cool. And Sydney is your first workshop. Yes, and it was very impressed. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I feel that I've learned a lot and there are a lot of pictures and my computer right now that now I know they're not good. Oh no. Or I need to work on them. But yes, Scott and Eric were wonderful. Leaders. I just want to add that Cindy had a very good show at presentation. So don't let her low volume on this. And Bill, this is the first time I got to work with you. Yes, it was great. What was interesting was the way we could work with the weather to photos at places that are well known, but under the conditions, we had to work with that and I think it all went very well. Nice, nice. And Scott Scott Davenport, who was the co facilitator of this workshop. I'm not going to put you on the spot Scott. That's not easy to say right now. But, but I think we should do another workshop someday. I think we should too. Yes, yeah. I mean, you just heard everyone say was really fun is, yeah, we had weather, but we worked with it. Embracing the conditions that you get from nature. And turning it to as much of an advantage as you can. And the show illustrated that clearly. Yeah. It was a fun show. So you did put me on the spot, but yeah, you know, we'll talk and make some agreement in arrangement to be made. Yes. I feel like he has a few things he wants to negotiate. I just sort of feeling that right now. All right, so the other thing I wanted to bring out because Bill Michael Dave and Cindy all road in the VW, ID four, and Scott did. I did as well. I suffered trip on the food run. So gentlemen in gentle women was the verdict. Does this thing cut buster for what we're doing? Let's talk about it. The best thing about it is the sound it makes when you're standing outside. Yes. It sounds like a Star Wars ship landing. It is super cool. Now Cindy had a little bit of a beef with the back seat, right? I felt it was a little uncomfortable, but there was a cover over the seat. Which perhaps prevented some of the cushioning coming through. You did miss the cushiness because of the very rigid seat cover, but the vaccine is important on these things because we're carrying around four or 5 people. There is a plus to the back seat, though, which is the sunroof. It is like you're under those. It's huge. It's huge. But there's plenty of leg space even in the rear. Pretty tall. As well as the space for the gear and the back is. Yes, right. We had enough cargo in what I now understand is the boot area. The hatch was good sized. The car was very quiet and at one point Derek showed off the acceleration. Well, good. Well, I just want to thank everyone for contributing not only picture wise, but just enjoyment wise is a pleasure, hanging out with all of you and I hope we get to do this again before too long. Cheers. All right. Oh, by the way, on our Facebook page, Kim added computers and added, it was an awesome workshop, awesome fellowship and awesome to be tested by the elements. I could not agree more with everyone. So anyway, so that gives you a little bit of feel for how this went to this experience that we just had. Now, as I think about this event afterwards, the thing that really jumps out at me is how much I miss working with others in person. And I felt this all during the workshop every night when I was thinking about the day. You know, it was really about, oh, Kim said this. Cindy said that. You know, Dave, you know, pulled this trick out of his bag of tricks. You know, that kind of thing. And now that we have this one under our belts, and I think Scott and I really got a good feel for what it takes to do a physical workshop in this really new age of social interaction. I feel quite confidently that I'm ready to go for 2022, adding physical workshops back into the mix. So I have a little preview right now that I'm going to share with you, but I'm going to have the finalized workshop schedule ready by December. So I have just a couple notes right now because this is all in progress. This is all in progress right now. But here's what we're looking at at the moment. So Humboldt redwoods, which is one of my favorite workshops that we do. That's going to be in April 2022, and that's a go. So that one, we're going to do it. The facility is set up so that we can do it safely and cleanly. The environment is just fantastic. It wasn't touched by any natural disaster during the California wildfire season. All that. So Humboldt redwoods, April 22, that's going to be on the schedule. Now loss and volcanic park that is scheduled for July. That's going to be replaced with another physical workshop. And the reason is the extensive fire damage that happened to that area during the wildfire season. Now I had a long talk before I left for this workshop with Susie Powell who is our coordinator in that area. And she has a cabin up there at Lake almanor. And we talked about it and talked about it. And really, we're just trying to be very honest with one another about what it would take to provide the kind of workshop experience that we want.

"Context full episode with one. Crucial thing that i forgot. I had it written down. I can't believe that. I forgot to talk about this. I lost sleep later that night. Because i knew that the explanation of this movie and this time period was not complete without something incredibly crucial. Okay going to be very fast as i've been saying. Nineteen sixty eight and nineteen. Seventy eight is the period. I am discussing here as a way of understanding. How and why. John carpenter's. Halloween landed with the impact. That it did when it came out in nineteen seventy eight. The biggest thing. I forgot to mention is that nineteen sixty eight to nineteen sixty nine zodiac killer starts murdering nineteen sixty nine charles manson nineteen seventy two to nineteen seventy eight john wayne casey nineteen seventy-three the beginning of the golden state killer. Seventy six seventy seven david. Berkowitz the son of sam and starting in nineteen seventy eight. Jeffrey dahmer these ten years that i'm trying to explain as being the period of american history into which halloween is born cannot be properly understood in terms of people's hunger or appetite for slasher films horror. Whatever you wanna call it without first understanding the overwhelming rise in crime serial killers serial murderers random killings and other associated. Fear that crept into the at this time. This is where slashers come from. This is why movies like. Halloween are separate from all the other horror movies. I have been talking about that. Came out prior to nineteen seventy eight. Okay back to the episode. Then when you have in that book there. Do you have some carpenters. I'd just have as we're going to go through all throughout some. We can talk about. Talk about maybe debra hills involvement. She's come up a little bit very interesting and very important. I think to. She goes hand in hand with dean. I think for this film a big influence. Both of their filming is undeniable that she brings cundy carpenter because she works with him before she works with dean condie on earlier films that she's involved with so his career is in progress her fears and progress and then she kind of brings him over. He Yeah right she. She worked on nineteen seventy seven. Satan's cheerleaders which is a good movie and also nineteen seventy seven charge of the model which starts troy mcclure of course and dean candy shop both of those movies. He didn't shoot assault on precinct. Thirteen and then. Suddenly he's carpenters guy. Clearly when she's you have to assume like this guy's magic like there's something he's doing here that we need to bring over and she also clearly is like in the scripting. The laurie strode is obviously as has been historically noted character. She was very connected to and gave her hometown. The name of larry stroz hometown. She's obviously very instrumental in shaping both the story and the craft of this some things from our dossier i'm just looking to spice in right. They also came up with scares before they even had. You obviously really know ten minutes. We want to structured like a radio series but like debra hill has the idea of. What if your boyfriend went downstairs. Came up with the sheet over him. But then it's not your boyfriend anymore. And they're like great. That's going to be an yet right like things like that like. They're coming up with the ideas. I don't worl- bill michaels one bit. It's a good thing the eyeholes in the sheet. But you don't see him doing you. He loves eyeholes. We know from the first shot. This guys forget obsessed with. I hold but he's got ask like you don't see him do it to see him. You'd like to see him. Just delicately the. It's not easy. No and they're very symmetrical and they're the same size they always do because like sometimes it's too far apart. One is one is small. The way hill puts it is. She wrote the first draft and it was mostly. The teenagers and carpenter comes in and lay layers in the loomis stuff right which makes a lot of sense yup because carpenters the one with the truly deathly outlook on things like he and they say this about escape from new york right whereas again like he writes this really bleak scripted. Nick castle comes in like it should be funnier at. This is the best about him watching. Now as i've done and he's fine to collaborate doesn't have his movies leading up to this than just wanting to be refreshed for the series. Like i just. He just has the most horrible outlook on humanity. There should be a character walking around being like pure evil depicted as crazy. It's actually at the end. We prove him right. He's always correct spot on and then it's those other movies. It's like so what happens at the end. It's like oh all hell breaks loose then the credits roll and i just love his nihilist. Totally refreshing not in. It's just not comforting and yet these movies are comfort movies for people who love our. I know we're still in the early days. But i know of much of what's to come. It is just kind of incredible. How committed he is to these abrupt endings where it's just like and if story and of movie. Because he's a he's a set. He's like forties fifties howard hawks thing. We don't need a button like the stories over. And i guess what what's next with credits like we want to have the characters wrap it up now. There's like nothing cute. That ever happens at the end of a carpenter movie. It's always some note of like lingering bleakness or anger or like a final spit in the face. Yeah or kinda shrug of like. I don't know where i'll fuck thing. That's they live in a lot of his mom is just so great yeah movies that don't have sequels right. It's just yeah. He's just so so miserable in his outlook and even like not to jump ahead but the fact that he did not intend for this mood have a sequel ever in that the ending is the body disappearing and the guy being like well. Yeah i mean of course can kill the boogeyman. We'll still out there. Maybe coming to you. He's coming for you next. Yeah also because this movie has no justification for what michael myers is doing is huge. This does not have the sibling procedures. One of those things. I was saying like friday. The thirteenth people put that in their memory of this movie right but it is not in this movie that him and laurie schroeder related right. But it's something that you put their in at the end of the movie..

And just to start off with with people who are still heavy from all of this the things that it has Brought up in their own lives and their stories or even a connections in their own family. Is there anything you'd dislike to start off with about This journey that these young people made to come back home and any heavy thoughts people might be having right now. Any words of encouragement. I own well first of all. It is a very bitter sweet Situation we are so happy to have them home after a long but the sadness is still there of the loss of time That we could have had with them. These are children than ever got to fulfill their destiny. And so yes we do celebrate but we we also have to face the fact that They didn't they should have been home sooner. You know make it home center now There is the historical trauma that we need to deal with including the loss of identity loss of language loss of social systems and also ceremonies with the cultural traditions. And so this makes up for a couple of things one of them being no sense of security.

Facebook's own policies do not support suspensions that air indefinite. He suggested Facebook create an atmosphere of uncertainty, McConnell said the public should ultimately be the judge. President Biden says America is entering a new phase of its Corona virus vaccination strategy. Our goal by July, 4th as to have 70%. Of adult America's at least one shot. 160 million Americans fully vaccinated, Biden added. The light at the end of the tunnel is actually growing brighter and brighter, meaning that while covert infections are now down, the fight against the virus is not close toe over the reality check in the shadows is that health experts are warning of the danger of not achieving herd immunity by the fall, and his doctor Lena Wen, points out. We could start this whole process all over again and have another huge pandemic. Come the winter. I'm Mike Power. Governor Newsome is joining forces with former California governor's Jerry Brown, Gray Davis, Pete Wilson and Arnold Schwarzenegger in a public service announcement, asking people to get their vaccinations. Any vaccine. It doesn't cost you anything and it's safe and effective. You would like you to get an allergic reaction. Listen to the Sacramento politicians Come on, are up. San Diego County supervisors have agreed to ask the federal government to test any person released from immigration custody for covert 19 followed by treatment in quarantine if they have it. Supervisor Jim Desmond says that without the town It could hurt the county's progress in the fight against the pandemic. Time realized those people even if they test positive are not counted against us. But if they're in our communities there in our region, they're being let go without testing that really puts our population at risk. The vote to approve the motion was unanimous. San Diego County Board of Supervisors also voting in a temporary ordinance Tuesday aimed at helping renters amid the pandemic and effective ban on evictions and a rent cap are among the provisions of the new ordinance. Landlords won't be able to raise rent more than 4% and won't be able to a victim. It's release violations but only for health and safety risks. "Lee 24 hour News Station Co. Moh news 1000 FM 97 77 16 right now, Greg, her Shelton Manda Factor here, along with Frank Lindsay at the editor's desk. Facebook is upholding former President Trump suspension on the platform. However, an independent oversight board says Facebook must reconsider the indefinite suspension on Facebook and Instagram. We're not Cops ranging over the realm of social media and solving the world's bills. Michael McConnell, co chair of the board, told reporters. Facebook's own policies do not support the suspensions that are indefinite. He suggested Facebook creates sited atmosphere of uncertainty, McConnell said the public should ultimately be the judge getting word this morning that Pel Aton has announced voluntary voluntary recalls of both of its treadmill machines over safety concerns. Tread plus and the tread treadmill. Cos. Advising customers who already have those products to immediately stop using them in contact Pellet on for a full refund this after reports of injuries and one death, the share price for pellet on stock is down almost 8% on this news. Many Americans are hesitant to get the covert 19 vaccine. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health, spoke with ABC is George Stephanopoulos about what it will take to convince them to get their shots. I think we need to listen to what the concerns are of people who are still on the fence. And those concerns ought to be addressed carefully. And we shouldn't slip into this zone of somehow blaming people who haven't signed up yet to roll up their sleeves. We need to answer those questions on one of the things I would encourage people to go and look at Is this new covert 19 community core. If you just Google on the phrase we can do this, you can look and see the information's there. 400 more organizations have joined most of them community organizations, organizations of doctors. That ought to give you a lot of confidence, and it's not just government. People like me that are advocating for this. It is, in fact, the whole country that needs this. We're in this together. We Americans are pretty good at doing things together. Once we get that kind of calling. So have a look at that. And then consider if you're one of those people waiting, Maybe it's time. Don't look at the evidence and decide whether it's time to just go forward and be part of the solution. And that's what the president is calling us to do to get 70% of Americans without least one dose by July, 4th. We could do that Looks like we're heading toward approval for administering the vaccine to adolescents. 12 to 15 years old. How big a difference will that make? And what do you say to the parents of those 12 to 15 year olds who asked if their kids should get vaccinated? Well, One of them is my granddaughter. And I could tell you there's a lot of excitement in Michigan about the idea that the fifth of my five grandchildren will now be eligible. If FDA goes ahead with this emergency use authorization. Obviously this is going to be really important for the fall. High school kids in particular are known to be just about a susceptible and just about as good as passing along this virus as other young adults. It will be really great to be able then to be get that immunization schedule going well in advance of September, So I'm certainly hopeful FDA when they look at all the data will judge this to be safe and effective and will give a green light and as you heard from the president The U. S is ready to go in terms of making those available and again look at the data that's been out there now and other situations and will be released. In this case. It's remarkable how safe and effective these messenger RNA vaccines have turned out to be. And that's what the Fizer vaccine is. So I think parents yet get informed. Look at the information make a decision. Probably your teenager wants to be part of that decision, and I think the evidence will lead you in the direction of saying Yeah, Let's get immunization out there. Let's get this behind us. "All right. So i'll catch up with mafia and a little while and talk about westbrook's more. I'm still just amazed every single night and not only is he doing it and having triple doubles every night. That the twenty-one boards and twenty four times tonight it's just sickening. My hats off to you bro. You're freak and they want again and they just keep winning. It's like eleven or thirteen or something like that. i can't keep track of it. And all i know is that. They deserve to be in the playoffs. That team deserves. They played their ass off and that guy going off every single night like some kind of magic is what he is. he's just a absolute showman. I mean what he's doing is out of this world. We want to talk to bill. Michaels though the syndicator bill michaels show all over the great state of wisconsin. Good friend of the show. We always love having bill on. There's so much happening there. I gotta talk to him about aaron rodgers. so let's bring him on the bench. Hope you turn well bill. I'm doing great. What a time to be a sports talk. Show host in the state of wisconsin with your and what the bucks are doing The fact that the brewers have the second best record in baseball without a lot of their stars. And now you got aaron rodgers. Saying he doesn't wanna come back so boy. Oh boy there's nothing to talk about here. Is there i mean it's you listen The whole thing is crazy. I have to ask you. I did a show last week. Where i was on the air live. And they showed this gounon kustow to a press conference right and he's on the east standard at the days talking and he was moving around and he was tapping his hand. I literally said right on. The air live television nationally that he looked like he pooped his pants. Like 'cause he he literally looks like like he's lying. I'm sitting there looking at this guy and he's so uncomfortable. I said that. I think that if they if they screw this up they're going to fire him they have to at some point. Somebody's heads for losing aaron rodgers. I mean explained to me how that could happen. And then they keep murphy and guten kunst in their job odds no matter what. I just don't believe that. I can't believe that it's come to this. And that's the most amazing part is because everybody wants to compare it to brett farr remember brett. Farr kept hitting at the fact that he was going to retire. Aaron rodgers who was supposed to be the first overall pick ahead of alex smith ended up falling in the draft and fell right into the lap of ted thompson and said look. We can't pass this guy with brett. Farve saying he's gonna retire. This is a great opportunity. Whereas aaron rodgers has never waver he said all along he wants to retire a packer he wants it. Two or three more super bowls all he needs a few more pieces. He's gone on and on about how he wants to be a packer in the best. But i mean. I had a conversation where they are in a few years back that he just said. I can't hold all the records. It's going to hold a lot of those. But what. I want to be known as the absolute best quarterback ever played the position in this story franchise and i wanna be decorated with a least two super bowls. If not three. Because brent went to two but only one one so he he was intent on staying and had jordan love if they indeed fellow jordan love had. He'd fallen to them. You understand it but they traded up to get him. Didn't tell rogers what they were doing. And he found out about like everybody else did on draft night watching tv and everybody's chin hitting the table. He felt slighted. And then there's a couple of things along the way where he wanted to keep certain players and certain guys you got comfortable with and all these trying to do is keep davante adams and then the rest of these guys that are kind of ragtag together to keep them formidable and they keep letting go with the guys he really likes feels like look. You asked me every year to go out and win you. Thirteen games fortunate. Nfc championship game. Get through a super bowl. A you're not doing a damn thing to help me. As a matter of fact you're replacing the already. I mean i gave the analogy. This is like being the best branch manager at a bank. That's ever been and they come to you and say wendy re want to retire. You say okay about ten more years and then they give you somebody who's your head teller but oh by the way trained him to be the next few and we're gonna accelerate your retirement i. It's the stupidest thing ever and good. Akins and murphy. They have egg on their face. And that that there's nowhere else to put it it. Rogers is given out of shape. And we all know you hold grudges. And he gets a he gets emotional about things and he just hangs onto it like grim death but they didn't really treat him right and in the day and age in which players can kinda dictate what they wanna do. The quarterbacks are a different breed. Especially when you have a hall of famer cut me off of an mvp season and we should have acted attention to when he said they screwed up their plan by actually playing really well this year and the mvp so did Like when when vob was there all season and obviously this guy holds a grudge like like an italian wife This guy is still out about love. Obviously i did get more other issues that you're talking about piling on to that As the meat of the sandwich but it so when that guy was around last year standing there doing nothing and rogers was out performing like he did and winning the mvp. Did it really bother him that much. That the kid was on the team. I don't know if it bothered that much. Because he was in that situation and he had always vowed that he would never do to anybody. Incoming like kind of what was done to him. I can't imagine that he would've taken it out on jordan lockers jordan. Love nothing to with it other than being chosen. It's not his fault the same way. It wasn't aaron rodgers fault for being chosen. He was just the guy that was standing there. When ted thompson telecom so it's not jordan's fault but but yeah i completely agree with you. Look i was because all of starting to really kinda spin. When we found out that there was some talks going on with the afc team of the denver broncos possibly elway and georgia era aaron rodgers agent or behind this a little bit with some of the rumors and innuendos that are being flung around so finding out more and more but somebody had said to me. You know well. Is there any reconciliation. And i said well let me ask you this knowing what we know about aaron rodgers. That guy won't even talk to his family. What makes you think that he gives to rats asses about thirty nine million bucks when he's made over two hundred and seventy million just playing football not to mention what he's made off of advertising. What do you. What do you think he means when he says. I don't want to return. It means. He doesn't wanna return if he won't go talk to his dad or his mom or his grandma who's losing your house when it's burn down in california during the wildfires. What makes you think he's gonna go to. Brian good at kansas city. Golly gee i come back for thirty million in play really hard for you guys. That's not going to happen. So all this rumor and innuendo about him wanting gouda ken style and wanting things to change before he would even think coming back. I think it's all real. And i've said before i think seventy five percent says he's not coming back because of green bay packer. What bill michaels. With us legend. I mean explained to me really quick here so i can wrap my hands around a little bit i. I knew that he had problems with his family. A little bit at some point or another. What is that about like why you're talking about is is grandma's house ops burning down and he wouldn't even call her like what is behind his estrangement from his family. Why why is he so meaning family. It sounds like it. Sounds like you are raising. Your guess is as good as mine. i remember about five years ago six years ago when we were out in arizona for the super bowl and his brother jordan on just before kona bachelor hanging out with us for about four days and there was no inkling at that point in time that there was any argument. I mean some believe it was the libya mind that got into the mix and and it ended up kind of praying the family and we all know that once you betray aaron you'd go back into the good graces so i mean some of us believe it's but nobody really knows the details as to what happened. We just know that that when aaron put out that tweet a few years back about the california wildfires and trying to help people and donating million brought box his brother very quick to say..

"You need an expert to help navigate the home loan process, a rocket 10 Well, this is a day when the well run franchises further distinguish themselves and these sloppily run one's compound. Previous mistakes and dig a deeper hole. Right. Taking absolutely years of ineptitude show themselves on draft day, usually, eh, so we'll get to see know whether some of these teams who have some Really important decisions to make regarding the future of their franchises. Get it right or get it wrong. Do you have to read you? This tweet has nothing about nothing to do with the draft here, but it's it is interesting. You ready? Go ahead from Adam Schefter verified accounts are not getting duped. Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow recently reached out to the Jaguars and requested a tryout Get out, and I swear to God at this height and position per sources, a move many believe would have extended his NFL career had he made the transition earlier. He recently worked out the Jaguars tight end coach Bill decision has been made. Tim Tebow now keeps jumping around him. E mean, what does he now? 30? He's got to be that I gotta be at least 30 years old 30 e. I mean, if he's 30, and this is this is real, and this is not someone Poland shift his leg. It's not I don't think it is either. But God doesn't start. The ring is desperate. Pathetic, Not pathetic. Because like everybody wants to live their dream. I get it, but just desperate. He's 33. He'll be 34 dogs, by the way. Yeah, maybe this would be a way we love him. We love him. Every time he comes on. We have nothing but platitudes to throw at him. But come on 33 at a new position they never played. Yeah, No, that's not happening. My God. So, here we go. I mean, listen, we've all been waiting for this and that will do next out. You know the Falcons or the very interesting spot here, build around Ryan still on and Julio or blow it up. You and I will get to that now. We'll also squeeze in a little little booing, met fans all over land door. What the heck, It's early. It's your only No. That's the point. It's early when he's making a grip, but They can't score runs to save their lives beaten. Now they waste another gem there by the ground, But what kind of branch out Well, we'll use the indoor incident as a jump off point. You know what's what's fair game in terms of booing pro athletes will hit that. But clearly the focus is on the draft were fired up. We've been talking about this for, you know, the greater part of half of the year here and you know now, by the way, I put some prop bets in Pertaining to the draft. You wanna hear one? I do. I got to that. I like her prop Bet king. You mean where are you? Okay. We already know that you're a sharp with the lines and everything. But given what you did to my Super Bowl, and I'm partially blaming you long time ago. 12 to 13 profits. I had 20 keys Got Dickie's brought. Giants got waxed by the way, thanks, including back to back kickoff return for a touchdown, Which really was the final nail in the coffin. So like partially blamed U B T. But go ahead. Well, I've got Matt Jones. All right now again. If you listen to the show from, I'd say at least a month now my partner has said that he believes that Trey Lance is going to go third. Overall, I would obviously take Justin Fields on mother record with that, but The most of the noise. Most of the rumblings have been around Mack Jones and Trey Land. So I put a prop bet in Matt Jones. Plus 1 30 to go third overall. You just think I'm gonna even though I don't really love Mac in that spot myself. I'm looking at value. I'm taking away the player in my opinions. Okay, So Matt Jones plus 1 30. What's that mean? It means you lay down 100 of Max Jones just ranted. You know, first by the Niners, you would win 30. If you put down 200. You went to 60, blah, blah, blah. I also took Justin Fields being drafted over 7.5 so either eight War higher meaning 9 10 not not closer to one further for plus one. Oh, seven those air to that I over over 7.5, meaning. I think he's getting attracted eight or or worse for lack of better, You know, worse, That's well, that's what you've been reading. Let's see well, saying that I've got a little one on Trask and a little one on Mongo. Some good quarterback prop bets tonight. It's gonna be a lot of fun. It is God's sight, especially if you play it that way. Where you're just doing something that's a little bit of don't do. I'm going to do anything. Crazy. No, no, no, no. Just you follow what you believe in what you think. And you know part of this discussion that we're going to have about the Atlanta factions influenced my final in my mind draft board for the 1st 15 or so picks or so, um, I really have changed my mind about where I think the Who the 40. Niners take Specially after some of this news that was coming out that they were trying to trade for Aaron Rodgers, even though I think that was spoof, but we'll get. Why do you say that? By the way there there was some pretty concrete stuff behind that report. I mean, it's Bill Michaels, who we all know has so many ties and Green Bay when he heard this from someone else who probably heard it from someone else. Somebody else's uncle someone else on the line. But apparently the Green Bay Packers got an offer from the 40 Niners for the third pick and a whole bunch of other stuff players, etcetera for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers turned it down. That part doesn't surprise me that the Packers would shut it down because we talked about this yesterday with a good cook, Oost singing Aaron is our guy for the foreseeable future. Whatever the heck, that means..

"It's it's great. It's unfortunately you would kinda hope. Bill michaels wife would treat a better than your random. Co workers do paulo. But at least you know you're in good company. All right matthew writes so well. My marriage hasn't fallen apart due to me watching basketball. At least not yet. I was very nearly late to my wedding. Because i decided to check the score of the celtics raptors game seven in the bubble last year thinking that it would be over but no there was still time left on. I had to watch the given how close it was. And if fred van vliet had sent it to overtime. There's a good chance this story would be quite different. And i would have missed a ceremony. Thankfully he missed. And i got there not as early as i told the venue but i also wasn't late necessarily and that was the main thing boston got the wind and the wedding went according to plan. All's well that ends well. This is another very michael pena type story. I could absolutely see. I don't know when you got married. Michael but let's say it was like right in the middle of that cagey air celtics team. I could see you running around and bashing your head against the basketball stanchions rather than taking your vows. Just the follow in the footsteps of your idol. Kevin garnett so i got married on august fourth for this exact reason like when we were talking about dates. I was like needs to be an august. I don't care win specifically but it just has to be in the off season. Because i was thinking ahead of time to. I was thinking about anniversaries. That i would have had to have probably missed and got an a lot of trouble for down the line so it stretched beyond the playoffs but there was absolutely no chance i could get married and I should probably just stop talking right now on the off chance that anyone who knows my wife listens to this episode so i'm just going to leave it there but august fourth is when i got married and that's exactly why because i care too much about the nba. Yeah so. I got in trouble michael one year because i was complaining. That was a wedding scheduled for michigan. Football saturday in michigan. And i was like come on. Who's going to get married during a michigan game. This is crazy and then they reminded me you know like fall in. Michigan is absolutely beautiful. Saturday when everyone gets married. What's wrong with you. You're just degenerate. The football team's not even good anyway. Suck it up and watch the replay later in the afternoon. That's what i did. And i gotta say you know big picture. Events like weddings are more important. Sporting events michael you know. Other than the occasional game seven. That some of these guys are describing. It's really hard to justify to people who aren't sports fans this idea. That you know like michigan. Indiana in mid october is going to have to take precedent over the most important day of their life you know. Yeah now that. That's a great way to end this episode. Ben not quite michael. We've got one more from michael in tasmania the guy who started all he said hearing you read my email about my divorce and discuss my koby. Memories did indeed bring a smile to my face. And thank you for your concern. I must admit when benn suggested the possibility of a reconciliation with my ex wife..

"I game one. Oh five saturday. Currently it's six and a half. The colts visiting the bills. It opened as a seven point game. Sixty percent of the bats. Sixty percent of the money is on the bills. Michael will start with you where you going on this one but my number say i should go with the coast but i like the bills all week. I'm gonna go against and based on what you just gave me. You steered me off the ledge. I'm gonna go with buffalo. I think buffalo's the second best red zone team on third down in football this year. They're scoring at a rapid rate. I think brian daboll were really have a good handle on. The eib reflects defense. And when i look at philip rivers the last two games in january that he's played the baltimore game that they want was fifty two degrees but when he plays below forty one degrees. He's played three games. He's lost all three. I'm gonna go buffalo and since you me that the team wins their cover. So that i'm gonna pick tick. Buffalo galvin lead dude. Colts have ability to play down and up to teams. Let's go philip. Rivers five and two against the spread road. Playoff games rivers four. No wild card weekend and bills have the worst run defense of any team in the playoffs this year. Jonathan taylor to the todd town called cisco to keep it closer. "But the bottom line is there's not a damn thing he can do about it, and we can do about it. But one thing we can do is we can start doing the resisting thing. Start doing. I know I'm sorry. I can't pronounce that guy's name anyway, Let's I come close to it. But anyway, I think we just need to move on now because there's things that we needed need to be prepared for. We know we're going to get a tax increase. We know that immigration thing is going to go toe go to blazes and we're gonna have people piling in here and one of the biggest problems we have right now. Be honest with you. Is we got a government that has created racism. With their with their actions with, uh, bills and stuff they pass when you take and you make an exception to the rules. A group of people or groups of people. You got racism, a sports I'm country. I'm concerned. The Democratic Party is the most racist bunch of people that you ever came across. They play the card, but they don't walk the walk. Guys. Thank you for your time. Thank you, Bill. How would you respond to Bill Michael? I don't think he's too far off. Off track. There is Trump hurting himself is Trump hurting the party? Is trump hurting the kind of music has he gone too far? I didn't see anything wrong with having the rally today. I see a lot wrong with the way people are acting in D. C. I also see a lot wrong with liberals off you are Trolling me on social media condemning what's happening in D C but didn't say a word about Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, New York, Milwaukee. So I told them all what they can do with their comments, but Don't one thing. I don't want the federal government addressing our election loss because they will They improved nothing. Okay, they fix nothing. They have. There is not nobody can call and say, Hey, here's a piece of legislation that really solved the problem. It doesn't work that way. So By the states have to fix their own systems. They have to handle it themselves. Standardization and federalization of our elections will be a disaster. So I think the the most the reason why I think up Until this year, our elections have been mostly secure. And, frankly, one of the reasons why I think the whole Russian collusion thing. Was such a joke 3000 counties in our country, each conducting an election and rolling those results up. For the states so in the states, rolling it up to the federal government for the electoral college, So my point is Or collusion or for interference to really be effective. You have to have a significant numbers of county registrars. Participating in that. And I just don't think we have that. You know, um You do have some? You know, I happen to believe a lot of our big city. Election officials are very political, and I think they care about the outcomes. So things happened that do influence outcomes, But I think you go to Fresno County. I don't think brand New York really cares who wins or loses. He just trying to administer an election. She's trying to do a child on the way. I think it should happen. You know? So you know? Yes, Trump. You know, I think after today, Trump needs to transition out and I think the lessons in this election need to stay with us. And I think people that are that are storming the Capitol or are not doing anybody any good at all. All right. Hold on, everybody. We've got more calls coming up. And if you want to make a comment, while Michael is with fish, I got to get him out before 12 noon. So hit it now, 490. 58.
