Mollie Hemingway Calls Out the GOP's Unpreparedness With Abortion

"I think one of the other kind of struggles people have is maybe we set our expectations too high. There is a debate on the right of the role that Dobbs played in this election. I do believe that in certain states, especially in the state races interestingly enough, it was actually an anchor, especially in Michigan and in Wisconsin in a year that otherwise should have been a very good year. We lost by 5, 6 or 7 points when we had really good candidates. What are your thoughts, Molly? It's very confusing to decipher it. I mean, you take very strong pro life governors like Ron DeSantis, Bill Lee, Brian Kemp, Greg Abbott, who signed effectively or, you know, who's in a state that essentially has an abortion ban, they all won their reelection, incumbent pro abortion supportive governors also did well. I think there was clear failure on the part of the Republican Party to deal with that issue. And it's criminal because they knew it was coming. They knew they had the leak. They knew it was likely to be overturned. They should have had a plan in place. And I saw that the people who support abortion spent $391 million on targeted messaging compared to 11 million for pro lifers. That's just inexcusable. And you might not win the issue. You know, it was a big change in abortion policy and one that many people had worked very hard for and had prayed for for a very long period of time. You can certainly get it to a draw and instead Republicans kind of did this ostrich head in the sand approach of showing that not only were they weak, but they were scared to talk about it.

"Okay, so your governor of a major state, the president of the United States is not of your party. He has made clear repeatedly that he gets very angry at various governors who refuse to do his bidding on a wide variety of issues ranging from things like banning sex denying healthcare to school issues of schooling to COVID. How do you deal with The White House that is routinely pretty brusque about how treats governors? I remember watching the one of the press briefings on COVID was still active and I don't even remember exactly what the issue was about. It had to do with mandates, I think, vaccine mandates and the president said to those governors who don't want to do this, we will move them out of the way. And I remember thinking, he's talking to me. Like, I don't think that's the right thing for Tennessee and I don't think Tennessee is want that. I don't think that's what we're going to do here. And yet, kind of, he's saying I'm going to push the governor Assad and mandate this thing anyway, that was really the first time I seen that happen. And I found myself thinking, you know, that's not the way it works in this country. We are what there is a Tenth Amendment. And there are rights and states have the authority to make decisions in the best interest of their people. And that's how it works. And you know, if the people of that state don't like it, then they get an they get elected officials that operate the way they want them to. And if they really don't like it, and they're elected officials aren't they go to another state where it's functioning the way they would like it to function. We are a collection of states that have enormous amount of power, most of which is delegated to the states. And so you realize that you're dealing with a federal government that doesn't see it the same way that you do, and so you push back. And you push back on a regular basis, whether it's the issues you've brought up, what schools, children, healthcare, COVID, and you've seen states collectively come together. Attorneys general of states, governors. I'm very engaged in Republican governor association, moment executive committee. Actually, chaired the public policy committee of that group, which really means that we convene governors around policy and around how Republican governors will respond to policy, particularly as it comes from the federal government and how it impacts individual states. There's a lot of power in the collective force of there are 28 Republican governors right now. There might be 31 or 32 by in a few weeks. There's a lot of opportunity to push back on the federal government when they're overreaching, which they've done in profound ways in the last two years. That's been our strategy pushback. This is one of the areas where I really am hopeful and maybe it's because I moved from a blue state to a red state. And now my company is located in other red state, but my hope for the country was I would say pretty dim when I was living in California because the state government there tended to mirror whatever the priorities of the federal government were at the time. But living in a state that is capable of disagreeing with the federal government and having a business in a state that disagrees with the federal government. It seems to me that the real hope for the country going forward is not going to be top down dictators from the federal government no matter who is in charge of the federal government at the real hope may in fact lie with the states. We spend an enormous amount of time in politics focusing on the national level on the Senate and the House and the president. We'll talk about that in a second. But it seems to me that the real hope for the preservation of the country is going to lie in the laboratories of democracy that exist in these different places. And you can see what the results are in these places, which is why, as you mentioned at the top of the show, you're seeing effectively mass migration to this entire region of the country. I mean, the only area of the country that seen demographic growth in terms of population growth over the course of the last ten years has been the south in the United States. It's nowhere else. I mean, the northeast is emptying out. You're seeing the west empty out back toward the Midwest and toward the south. And that's because different models of governance matter. And I think it became most evident in the last in the last two or three years, right? People all across the country, frankly, have seen clearly, it matters who governs particularly in the state House. And I think it's, I think it's why you are about to potentially, I mean, who knows what's going to happen in the next couple of weeks, but there's a very good possibility you're going to have a Republican governor in Oregon. Well, let me just say this. In the last 25 years, I think there have been 6 5 or 6 democratic incumbent governors flipped. In the last 25 years, this year, there easily could be 5 or 6 this one year. I think that's because Americans saw the differences in states that were run with conservative approaches and you got 5 or 6 of those states that may end up and that are traditionally Democrat states that may end up being run by a Republican governor. And one of the things that's amazing about that is Republicans, it feels like in many states, not all states. But it seems like in many states, Republicans have done a better job of picking their gubernatorial candidates than some of their Senate candidates. Obviously, you look at some of these states that my sleeper picked for this election cycle is the least

We gotta take care of some internal business here at Broadway Bill Lee because this brought me a lot of our Jedi. I get this email, you know, there's so many emails. It's like it's clutter. "Are asking me all the time. They're emailing me their text to me, Charlie. Can you get on the phone? My campaign's not doing well. What advice do you have? Talk about crime. Now the reason they don't like talking about crime is the local newspapers, they get really upset. They say, oh, you're a racist for talking about crime. Who cares what the local papers tell you about? Protect your citizens. You have people in Memphis going around doing random shooting sprees. You've got teachers being kidnapped at 4 o'clock in the morning. Getting kidnapped and murdered and the mayor of Memphis, a Democrat, is blaming the state legislature and the Republican governor of Tennessee, but it's obviously not just in Tennessee. Memphis as a crime wave, Chicago has a crime with. We're going to get to Chicago in just a second. I got a whole thing to go on Chicago here. But I want to just keep on repeating this point. Republicans, November is not going to be about tax cuts, inflation is a big issue. Crime, though, is an issue that is so personal. It's so right up in your face. And I'm going to walk through precisely in exactly what is the agenda as we go throughout this hour. The agenda is not to have a safe society, the agenda is not even to try to pander to all the BLM groups. That's part of it. Yes, there's bad ideology here, but part of this is being driven. Part of Bill Lee signing in the criminal justice thing, and part of Republicans always want to do this is white guilt. The left, they are experts at weaponizing and utilizing white guilt. Oh, you have white privilege. That's why all of these fights about white privilege and white fragility are so important.

"International lazy day to just pass on get stacked. And it leads me into this diatribe that I'm saying because earlier today when I'm finished, left versus right. With Anthony Weiner from three to four, he had proceeded me with his own program in the middle from two to three. I heard Chris libertini bifurcate three different programs into little slices into a Trinity trifecta troika for full out. He did the history of overnight radio at WABC. The history of morning radio at WABC and he did the history of Cushing booths in the WABC. All in one hour? What the hell was that Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. That's lazy radio. That's it. Well, and I really don't want to work too hard, so I'll take a little bit of this hour a little bit of this shower. You know, he didn't work hard. Come on, Broadway, Bill Lee. You know, it's sort of like saying, I'm gonna put together a whole pizza pie, but I'm gonna take a little of the anchovy pie, a little of the white pie, and a little bit of the cheese pop. And I'll put it all together, put it in the box, and you're not gonna know the difference. You're gonna get three different slices of pizza and your pizza pie. Come on. Come on. That's not WABC. That's not what we do. I was offended. You gave what? 20 minutes to cousin Rosie, the greatest of all time. You can't even inhale an exhale and all of a sudden is gone, right? And then all of a sudden you give 20 minutes to all the morning radios that have existed since he was spinning sacks of wax and then flipped his script to talk radio 20 minutes. And then 20 minutes to overnight radio, I said, what the hell is this? So you know what? That's why I'm here. That's why I'm here, Broadway Billy. Remember what they say, Curtis sleeve and those who are all the bones are buried in who buried them, and nobody will ever accuse me of being late. You might say he's not the brightest. He's not the most astute. He's not the funniest. He's not the most creative, but I outwork everybody else here, period. Because ain't no way, I mean, the worst criticism I could ever be labeled with is somebody call me lazy, man. That would hurt. Me, lacy, are you kidding? Are you kidding? And that's why this thing of us that is so important we have to work at it. We have to embellish it. We have to keep adding on to it. We have to be creative. We can't just keep mailing it in. I listen to some shows not just here, I cheat. I listen to other stations. My God, it's a Xerox copy, you hear the same subjects, you hear the same points of view and you say, did they just listen to that other show Broadway Bill Lee and just copy everything down at that other host to host and said, his aye, no, that's lazy radio. You don't do that here at WABC oh no. I mean, if Donna summoned in the midst of disco. The number one singer in America three years straight. 40 top hits. On the billboard chart. Could dedicate one of these songs. To this thing of ours who we love so much radio. You mean to tell me we can't work harder to make sure this thing of us survives, that it grows, it prospers. It gets even more creative. Instead of being told, oh, well, you know, there you go. Go listen to it on the podcast. I remember Broadway Bill Lee when it was appointment radio. If you didn't tune in, you missed it at that moment. That's why I say when people ask me, who is the greatest talk radio show host a hostess of all time without a doubt, bob grant, the king of to our greater. My mentor gave me an opportunity without which I wouldn't be in talk radio. You had to listen 3 o'clock each day. To his opening monologue, which he would spend hours working on. It was about 12 of 15 minutes, but it was magic. It was solid gold and people would say, wow, it was worth

Which is not the blanquito screen. That is the Moreno screen. Not more run more Renault screen and they blanquito screen here is right. Could you please explain that, Avery? Well, I think, I think it was clearly tampered with. And I think there's information that he doesn't want you to get out. I feel like a murano thing. Yeah, it does say the Moreno screen. Which means black. Meantime, I have the blanquito screen white because we like to have diversity here. And my white screen blanquito screen is blank. Well, that's right. It is blank. White. That's French for white, right? I think. He wants to silence you when. It's something you're going to say, you're going to reveal that. He doesn't want out there. Oh, yes, I will. It won't be now, though. It'll be when they come back on for like a 19th time all weekend long. Right after Dominic Carter on Monday morning, he will give you the 12 to 1 o'clock hour and then I come back with a vengeance from one to 5 and let me tell you something. Frank morano will pay the price for being on perpetual vacation. Two vacations in two months. It's like a warning shot. Damn, then you know what he's capable of. Damn right. Let's get to this one issue. I know it was of great concern to Broadway Bill Lee, he knows I've had a history of failed relationships more failed relationships and Bill Lee can count on his toes and fingers. This is the keeper though, but if there is one issue and one issue alone, that is going to affect my relationship with the gorgeous animal rescue and Nancy, it is a fact that she loves hair conditioning. And I hate it with a passion. So when I'm in the lair when I'm in the apartment, I turn the air conditioning off she turns the conditioning on. When the air conditioning is on, I begin coughing, I begin sneezing, I am allergic. And some people say, how could that be your pot body? The bad age embody Italy. They have ice cubes in their pocket. Not I. The other part of me is what rules Polish. That's why I'm used to polish air conditioning. I keep that red wool beret on my head and that red satin jacket and it's a. I love. As I know, I love to sweat. And it's on the other hand, the other day, Nancy was simply going to get some items for the 18 cats and she almost fainted. Almost fainted from the heat. And there will be a war over the air conditioner. I'm sure this exists between many men and women out there. It seems that women want more air conditioning than men. Or maybe it's vice versa. That's why women wear sweaters in the office in the middle of the summer. And men walk around with Guinea teas. Which is against the regulations of HR, but what the hell they say, hey, you know, it's too hot. I'm a little confused with all the 72 different designations about one's gender assignment. Sexuality was so much easier when we were growing up, learning biology. Oh, you're an ex why. What do you believe your next why? What do you Nancy? You're an excess. So simple. Now they destroyed the simplicity of it all. Any person on any given day, regardless of who they are can self identify as one of any 72 gender related terms, I can't even remember 6 of them. LGBTQ+. And you know what the blush is for? You know, it's like an anion. It's like one of those long trains where you waiting there to crossing, right? And you're saying, how long am I going to wait? This train has been going for like 20 minutes, right? And he goes. You're looking for the caboose. When will the kaboom? Oh, it takes a month of Sundays. That's what's happened with gender identification. But I will tell you this. If you want to know what gender they are, see how they react to air conditioning. That will bring it all back to whether there were an XX or an X one. Because what the air conditioning does is it removes heat from the air, and I need that heat. Especially the humidity. I love humidity. 20% of electricity in buildings goes towards air conditioning. May I make the case to all of you that, yes, as an environmentalist, yes, as somebody who believes in global warming and climate change, that air conditioning has damaged our ozone layer. In addition, all the VO 5 that you women have used over the years to give yourself a Jersey mall, Buffon, look. You know, at like DJs down in Bel Mars, if you've ever been to that great Bard, the women have so much VO 5 hairspray on. That when they stop pulling each other's hair, they hint stick to the other woman's hair. And then you have to untangle it. I believe the combination of the two have sped up climate change and its damage to the ocean layer. I believe that air conditioning is the fault. Of the Asian ancient Egyptians. They started this with pyramids. Why was it so hot on the outside of a pyramid, right? I mean, a 120° in the shade right by the Nile. And yet you went deep inside of the pyramid and it felt like air conditioning, didn't it? You know, when all of a sudden the fey roll would drop dead and they would bury him with all of his slaves and his concubines. And his intention slaves, boy, look at some of those failures, they had like 225 concubines. Can you imagine the fabled dies? You've been loyal to the fey roll and they say you have been very loyal to the fey while he is dead. So now we're going to switch your throats and we're going to bury you with a favor.

Gov. Ron DeSantis Suspends State Attorney Andrew Warren

"Announcing that he is suspending a woke George Soros endorsed state prosecutor. Take a listen. The constitution of Florida has vested the veto power in the governor, not an individual state attorney. And so when you flagrantly violate your oath of office, when you make yourself above the law, you have violated your duty. You have neglected your duty and you are displaying a lack of confidence to be able to reform those duties. And so today we are suspending state attorney Andrew Warren effective in media. And I say good for you, governor, there is so much great content and sound bites coming out of that press conference. This was absolutely phenomenal. This is how you do it, folks. This is how Republicans win the day. You see, so many Republican governors, and we've got one here in Tennessee. His name is Bill Lee. And he won't do something like that. He'd never go after the state prosecutors who refused to enforce the law. And by the way, that's what Andrew Warren is accused of doing. Andrew Warren went out there and announced that he doesn't care what the Supreme Court decided about roe V wade that they would not be prosecuting any abortion cases in Tampa Florida. He was literally going out in front of the cameras and daring the governor to do something. And guess what? Ron DeSantis has the man parts to back it up. Ron DeSantis got out there and he's been doing this from day one.

the urban dictionary And you probably one of the only people that I would know of that could possibly answer this question And a shout out to gombar cheech may rule of Giuliani happy birthday happy healthy blessed and prosperous birthday to him And my question is about the word birthday Why do some people pronounce it as if instead of the letters TH being in the word the letter F is in the word as in the letter between E and G Pronounced that for me the way you're describing it Birthday Birthday Birthday with an F instead of a TH Why That's a very interesting question there A lot of times people will take words It's like a perfect example of Frank murano Jose Instead of France I don't know why he does that I don't know why people would do that Does the urban dictionary Did they have an "Hope he's not going to run for office down there. Well, they want me to run. I mean, a lot of people won't be out there and stuff and they're tired of the Republicans and their tired of poor Biden and he's a mess, isn't he? Well, everybody's a mess. Look what we've done. I mean, you know, a society is a mess. You can't talk to someone on the telephone. It's all digital. You go down, you know, I try to get on, I pay cash to get my bag on the airport and they go, no, we don't take cash. So I had to get out of line, go over to a machine. Come back. You know, I got to give them a $100 bill in the machine. It gives you 94 backing credit. And then I give it to her. She takes the $30. I thought I tried to use it to get out of the parking garage. And it says you need a pin number. I go, oh, I don't know. I have pin number for this card. So there I am, I'm stuck in the airport for 30 minutes so I can't get out of it. Because they don't take care. That's a stripper's people in the boxes anymore. I was at a strip bar is trying to throw dollar bills at this. She said, my own take cash. So I swiped my car there. You know. Worked out pretty good. So Steve, do you use the chip card? Please remove it quickly. Please remove card quickly. So Bill, you send you through 76. You're 75. You're going to be, you know, one of those golfers that try to shoot their age. In the term of baseball, you know, I'm throwing at 75, I'm throwing harder than my edge. Right. I know, that's where some unbelievable, you know, but these guys, these kids don't realize that you've kept limber. You stretch all the time. You've got yourself in a place where at 75 most guys can't tie their shoes. I know. Oh, you know, when they saw me, they saw me stretch, and they saw me feel my position, and they saw me in. I hit a double in the right field corner. I didn't run though. What you walking into a single? No, no, no, no. It was just in the preliminary when I came in for bat and practice. Can you still swing the bat? And I mean, they were throwing, they would throw. The guy was throwing major league batting practice, so that was turning him around. Nice. Well, see, you'll never lose that. And you know, you could probably put on a show in between innings, hitting yourself, fun goes in the outfield, like you used to do, and that would be something they've never seen before either. Well, I'll tell you my catcher. This catcher came out of the Woods. They had about 20 catchers trying out. They're in cowboy outfits, dresses, everything. They shot the jugs guns straight up in the air. And no one caught it, and then all of a sudden one ball hit off the guard railing and bounced back towards home plate. And this kid with his pads, this pads on, slides across like Gina Davis, and that was doing a split. And yeah, did the splits catches it on home plate and they said, holy shit, that was a great play. I said, you can catch me anytime. He says, I'm the number one catcher. His name is Billy Lee Roy. Billy Leroy. Here you go. Sounds like he's from the south. Billy Lee is throwing the Billy Leroy. Well, you know, Bill, you mentioned a league of their own. I got one quick joke for you before we let you go and get to our musical portion of the show. What is the difference between rocio Donald was in that movie, right? What's the difference between Rosie O'Donnell? And a bowling ball. Bowling ball has three holes. That's really good. No, the correct answer is you could eat the bowling ball if you really had to. My answer is better. It was great, especially you have to go. Hey, listen, this is great news. I'm coming to Savannah. And I gotta check this out because it sounds great. And we hope you're in good health, Ben and Bill and me. There's a line drive with my name on it. I just opened it in Savannah. Good talking to you, pal. Thank you, see ya. Take care. Spaceman Bill Lee, everybody. He's still pitching. And apparently throwing 75 miles an hour. He and his ethis pitch. That's amazing, you know. One more news item that we got to get to before we close down this show. And I know you guys love it. He loves the musical portion of the program more than anything. And nobody gets up in the aisles and dances like you guys doing these two guys come in to entertain us at the end of each podcast. I thought you had a news item. I do. It's a news item. Oh, go ahead. Neil Diamond has sold his entire catalog. Say it isn't so. You know how they're doing that now? Bruce Springsteen? David Bowie. Well, it's happened. Did it say how much he got for that because he's a prolific songwriter. Doesn't matter. He's 81 years old. There's no time like the present. They're selling these things. It's like an NFT for your ears. So it's all your favorites. And I know happened to know that Joe and Jerry love Neil Diamond. So let's bring them in. To celebrate goodbye to the catalog for Neil Diamond..

"I don't know. Mookie betts and Mike tried. Yeah, let's put this quick. I'll make more than I did. My first three years of the Red Sox. That's right. That's right. People don't realize. Now, people don't also know, some people don't know that you were as a player rep were very, very part of the mix with Marvin Miller and the whole Curt flood free agency transition for baseball. Yes, yes, yes, I started arbitration. It was dick moss, Marvin Miller, Joe Torre and I, we were in Hawaii and we came up with arbitration and then two years later, mister Schmidt, mcnally, played without a contract, Sykes, declared them free agents. You know, in a vote of three to two. And booyah and fired him the next day. Right. I mean, it was really, it was very controversial what was going on at the time. But now, when you think about it, and here we are today, right now we're on the cusp of waiting to hear, Bill, if the players and the owners are going to be able to get together and have any baseball on time this year and I'm hearing that $25,000 for the base salary is one of the sticking points and that the draft the free agent draft and all these substances getting in the way. What do you think about the greed factor? Now, somebody's greedy, we know that both sides probably, but who's to blame for the if there's going to be a work stoppage here? The owners. They locked us out, you know? It's on their cup right now. And I think the players don't mind not having spring training. They don't really perform any. You don't get to see the good players anyway. You know, and we've sold out Daytona Beach, the our team, we've sold out West Palm Beach, 10,000 fans. We sold out the spring training facilities down there. We are a demand item, the Savannah bananas. Well, see that's going to be the substitute instead of having scab players playing a mockery of what the real baseball game is all about. You just have a fun group of people actually taking your mind off the fact that somebody is making $30 million a season. And not playing. It's kind of weird. You look it up and tell your fans out there, the people listening to look it up and you'll see that this is real. This guy is P. T. Barnum. He is. At the beginning. This guy is Abe sappers team. He's billed Becky in. Yeah, he's got some Bill vec in them too, doesn't he? He's got Bill Beck any like you read about. And I was just thrilled. There's an article in the Savannah paper on Sunday and everybody should read it. I haven't seen it yet, but it's great. Here's the other part, ESPN is shooting 11 episodes, 30 minutes each, and I'm the first episode. Wow. And when is that going to air? I don't know. The guys were down there. They had all these people. They had a I think they had a crew of 12 people for ESPN with drones and everything else. They shot the whole damn tryout. The Savannah bananas play in Savannah, Georgia, right? That's their home park, but we're playing and we sold out Birmingham. We've sold out mobile. We've sold out. I play against the Kansas City monarchs. The black team in Kansas City and I'll be wearing a satchel page uniform. I've already got that. They're doing it up right. This is great. This is like a great development now because people do need baseball and they needed to take their minds off what's the reality of baseball, which is the ticket prices are going up and that salaries are going up and that owners are making more money and TV rights are going, all that stuff is just, it's a money money money machine and Bill, you know better than anybody. That baseball is not should not be a game about money, money should be something that happens to you when you're good at it, but it's not, it's the joy of the game. Fun. Yeah, yeah, these fans are paying $20 a ticket. All you can eat, all you can eat, and you as long as you want, they have a band they have everything and the beer is $5. Wow. Perfect. Now, I mean, it would be better if the beer was $4, but you know what? Right? So, oh man, that's just exciting. I gotta get myself down there. I got a lot of points built up on Southwest Airlines. Do they still fly? They fly right there. They fly right there and I'm gonna fly JetBlue out of Boston as nonstop to Savannah. This is great. Bill Lee back in the saddle again on the mound and now what is your fastest fastball now? You're 75. We all know that, but you still get the ball over the plate. Yeah, last summer I threw it the real Cormier term and I threw 76. On the gun and I throw through real well, I want a senior game up and Canada last summer. But I blew my calf out. I mean, I really tore it up bad in November and the playoffs down there and I've been limping around and I finally had starting to get a little better. I'm starting to move a little better, but now I give a speech at the end of the event. They are all standing around and they thank me and patted me on the back for making the ball come up and I said, you know, this is good news and bad news. I said, I've always wanted to be on another ball club with a bunch of guys that were competitive. I said, that's the good news. The bad news is now I got a sober up and get back in shape. Back to the routine. Now, so how have you tried decaf? Yeah, no, my calf muscles. Solely as connection. Within a bled down into my Achilles tendon. And I couldn't get on my toes for a long time. And I mean, it's still a little achy and it's icy up here. It's been the iciest slipperiest winner I've ever seen. Yeah, the bad calf is the cowpokes equivalent of a bum steer. It's something you got to stay away from them animals out there, especially when you're drinking. It's funny, it's called your second heart. Your calf muscle pumps blood back up and then it pumps it up higher to your brain and I've always had trouble having the blood go to my top shelf. Yeah, well, that's what that's the trouble rat it's ran into late in life, you know, when he got when he got to have the what do you call it? Hard stuff. Look at his legs. He looked like a brontosaurus, leaking oil. That's exactly right. You know, I remember when you got a drunk not a drunk message, your late night message from you when rad, it's tied. You said, I'm hoisting one for the monster. He says, this is not a message on my phone. Bill says, just glad I don't have to carry him. 480 pounds, you know, whatever he ended up being. Okay, so now we're just going to ask you about what was I going to ask, I haven't talked to you in so long, man. I know I've been just busy busy. Well, I am in busy, but it's sorted up, you know? I don't know what to do. You know, you got I told him, I don't know what I'm going to do. I mean, I'm so excited in some respect. And I'm going, I mean, I've got to go down and play on the week. I got two weekends and I play on about the second week in a march. I have a little time off. I got to go to the Daytona. I marry my daughter and it gets buried on the 2nd of April. My dad's birthday had been his 102nd birthday. Wow. And down there, yeah. And it's getting married. I remember when she was born, you talk to me on my show one time she was sitting on your lap when she was a newborn baby. It's been that long, huh? Yeah, yeah, she's almost 27 years old and oh man. Yeah, she's buried a rambling wreck from Georgia Tech, a heck of an engineer. Jefferson Davis Wallace. I.

"Up, and I'm going to hurry and everybody stop these geese. I'm like, run those little fuckers over. Oh, man. Who gives a shit? They're in our road. They're stupid. It's not like turkeys. They don't know enough to get out of the road. Run them over. They'll learn real fast. You know, I hit a chicken once when I was going down the highway. We had a chicken on the highway. I hit a chicken. I was going down route 24. Wow. And I'm driving 60 miles an hour easily. Yeah. And this chicken just walked out. There's nothing I can do. Why did the chicken cross the road? I don't know, but all I heard was, and I looked in my rearview mirror, and it was just feathers and stuff. And I felt bad. And I finally, I get to my destination. I looked at my grill, and it was all bloody. Feathers. You put the chicken right on the grill. Right on the grill. Get you? Yes, but the abreast of any further developments on that. And by the way, were you winging it with that story? Welcome to the beak leagues. You were feeling a little cocky that day. I think it was. Thank you just feeling a little foul. Oh, this foul play. Claw my way out of the car. So now, so I talk about Janet Wu. She's the reporter. I worked with her. We used to sing that song that steely danced on tour. Can you hear me, Janet Wu. You know that song? Yes, of course. Okay, now. I have a lot of other things to talk about. So should I? Or should I just wait till Bill E's on? No. What do you think? Let's get Bill Lee. Hey, spaceman. Yo. Mikey and Ben and Bill in the podcast in a live state of broadcast. How are you? A, B, did you just get back from Georgia? I am telling you, I don't know what I did and why I did it, but I wrote a poem I was on the plane and my wife convinced me to go to Savannah to try out. I was offered a one day tryout with the Savannah bananas that I did want to go. I was on the tarmac and it was snowing hard and playing with delayed. They had to de ice it and I wrote the fate of the hunter. We shorted out the electrical system while the icing the plane. Go figure. Now cancel this flight and send me home God damn it. Oh shit. They just dumped jump started the jet with a 98 Buick. And then I got down there. This is a poem? It's a poem. It doesn't rhyme. I know. Well, poems don't have to write. Yeah, you're right. It could be haiku. Just telling a story from your own words. Yes. Right. You know, kind of kind of like cat ballou, you know, with Lee Marvin, drunk on the horse. I remember that. Yeah. But it's like, so it's like haiku. They picked me up at the airport. The guy's a little late. I had to run through Delos by flight was delayed in dulles, so I got on it and made the connection, so I got down there and I had to run like O. J. Simpson through dulles, almost had a heart attack. And I'm going, I'm trying out for a team. I can't even run a quarter of a mile. So now I get down there and this guy and a yellow top hat and a yellow tuxedo with a cane comes marching in with a TV crew. I run get my bag. Take me to the hotel on the Savannah river. Was that mister peanut? Well, he's the owner, his name is Jesse Coley's from situate mass and he's the guy who sold his house, put together, started with about a 125 fans in Savannah and now he draws 10,000 a game. Wow. And he wants me to be part of this team and so what level what level of minor leagues is it? This is hot. I mean, this is top independent as it was. A lot of first round draft choices. I think the oldest guys about 27. The Savannah bananas. Well, okay, so you go down there and everybody's going, okay, there's got to be young guys there that don't even have any realization as to who Bill Lee is. Well, one of the kids I played with football against up here in Burlington, he made the team. He was playing on an independent team and Eugene. There were people playing on M and T teams all over the furthest guy away was from Germany. I think he made the tape. See, these guys are all pretty good ball players, but they wear skirts. It's the weirdest thing you'll ever see if you've never seen the Savannah banana baseball play. See, I come down the invites me down. He says, I said, I can't, I can't feel my position I go. He goes, well, we got no button in this Lake. And I said, well, that's a start. So there's no locks. And when there's no locks, I said, I throw strikes. I don't have to worry about butts. I said, you know, I may be able to do this. And we had 40 pitchers try out. I was the third pitcher and the object was to get as fast as outs you could in your part of it inning. So I'd go out and in four pitches, I, let's see, I got a one upper to first guy got him on assistant. Then I gave up a fly ball to left, the left handed hitter, then I gave up a base hit to left, and then I picked him off first base, two hours. Two minutes and four seconds. And half an inning. Half an inning and two minutes before. Now the record for any game, I think is 53 minutes in the history of baseball. I'm pretty sure they're like an old time Phillies game, but part of the problem with baseball is Bill. You know, this is at the speed of the game. They're pissed about it. So I love this game. You'll love it. It's just a different way of playing ball and I think we have 70 games scheduled for the season and they're all sold out for at least 7000 fans up to about 12,000 fans. And this is all in Savannah, Georgia, and they're called the Savannah bananas, and the yellow is obviously the team team color, right? Yeah, yeah. They got breakdancers as coaches. They run up and down the line. They do gymnastics, they jump over other players. They have all these skits. No innings. No, no game can be longer than two hours or have a starting time of two hours. Okay. You know, and then they have a shootout at the end where you put each team takes their picture, a catcher, and your fastest ball player, and you've got to beat them with one player. And you get as many bases as you can. And I won that too, so I actually, I want my last game in pro ball, the last Saturday, and at 75 years of age. That's great. Now all these young guys think about the fact that you're 75 and you can they were pretty impressed in maize, you know? And we got the top who's Yelich, we got remember yell at the place for yeah, Milwaukee. Yeah, Christian Yelich. Yeah, we got a guy that was drafted ahead of him for the brewers. And he's been playing independent ball. He's making a comeback. We've got people. Oh, we have a cop, a Savannah cop that catches with his uniform and his pistol. So this is really, I mean, that's entertainment. This is like globetrotters. Right, right. Exactly. The globe trotters. And it draws and it's.

"Okay, so, yes? Okay. Continue. The motor vehicle department. Oh, this is a new story. Well, she saved transition. I don't need any. I hopped from lily pad to lily pad and as long as there's one under me, I land there you go. Okay, good. 2000 untested drivers are driving around Massachusetts right now. 2000. 2000 people that haven't taken a driver's test. Is that what you're correct? And they have their licensees. How? Are these undocumented brocton? RMV, those sons of bitches. Oh, man. It's all Brockton? Well, most of it. They've given out licensees to people without taking a test, which is like, I mean, what's the R and V dude? That's their job. Do they have insurance? I don't know. That they don't answer that. Probably not. You think, well, they don't have they get on the legal license. They probably don't bother to get their insurance. And they probably get a check and an EBT card and a free housing and it's unbelievable. It's unbelievable that 2000 they found a 2000 people got their licenses without taking driver's tests. Most of them out of the Brockton office of the RM. Who found this out? I don't know. It's a news story. I'm going to believe it until I am just proud of her. I'm proud of Framingham for not making the list. I thought for sure framing him was going to be a prime offender. That's true. Way to go. Now, in Framingham, oh God. You can live there if you speak Portuguese? It's one of the prerequisites. It is. You have to be bilingual. English Portuguese. But if you only know Portuguese, it's okay. Well, here's the thing. I've done Lyft driving in Framingham. And you have like a one out of 5 chance of picking up a Brazilian woman. And most beautiful women in the world. That gives you one out of 5 chances to pick up a good-looking hot woman in Framingham. Now, the problem with that is you might get stinky hopeless squall who just got finished with a construction job. But here's the thing. Your chances of picking up a beautiful Brazilian woman are very good. Because they're mostly all beautiful. Now, I don't know if their lips and their breasts and their buttocks are all real, but I don't care. Usually. I'll get my right wherever they want. That's right. I don't even have demand to prove that they're buttocks. You get weak around beautiful women. Is that what you're trying to say? Who me? Yeah. No, I don't care. I lose my ability to talk to them. I go. Send them to the hypothesis. That's the blood flowing. From head to head. You want to meet my cat? Robert, I belong to the club. I belong to the kiddie poo club. Kim? Doesn't think it might play. I get such random topics here. It's good though, yeah. Keep going. Michelle Wu, oh yes, the mayor of the city of Boston. Great if she married someone else named Wu because then she'd be Michelle. Will that be great? As announced, tooth opponent. You can have free bus rides if you're on number 23 number 28 or number 29 for two years. She's giving out free bus rides to anybody along those three routes, they're naturally, you know, they're in poor neighborhoods. I just don't understand how anyone can say, okay, it's okay. We're going to give away free for you, but not for you. You get to ride the bus free or the train for free or whatever. For nothing. All year if you want to, for two years, but year over here, you don't live there, so guess what? You got to pay. Who decides these things? Make it free for everybody. But you don't make it free for everybody, and then make it not free for other people. You can't do that. Well, she's such an experienced leader. I'm sure she's got it all figured out. It doesn't seem just unfair. Like you can't be poor and live on a different street than bus 23 28 or 29. Of course you can. So why is she just, oh, you know why? Votes. That's it, and they take our tax money and use it against us. Vote for me, remember when I did for you, I gave you the free bus rides. Vote for me and then I get reelected again and no, they use our tax money to campaign. That's the fucked up part, a joke. Those things are campaigning. You know what else? They haven't addressed in Boston. What is that? Boston has just been designated as the third most expensive rental town city in America. Oh. Can you guess what the other two are? In New York, in San Francisco. Correct. Really good. What do I win? You don't win a free rent. And neither of those towns. God damn it. Happy birthday. So Boston is now $2700 a month for a one bedroom. In Boston, I used to pay less than that for a mortgage. I do pay less than that for a mortgage. And I didn't even have to sell the chicken coop. I rented it. No, but it's like, are you kidding me? $2700 a month. When I was living in New York with my friend biff. And remind me to tell you the story of biff biff someday. It's a long story, so I'll have to have a whole episode about it. Maybe he'll come on. Okay. It was 3400. 5th floor walk up. I stayed in the loft. He had a bedroom. We were roommates. It was a living room. A very small kitchen, one bathroom, a loft and another bedroom. $3400 in New York. This is in 1999. East side. Upper west side. 3400, 3400. And there was no elevator. I had to walk with my dog up and drop 5 flights of stairs every time I went home. So it was like, I'm thinking this is ridiculous. Well, 2700 for a one bedroom in Boston. Now, it's not New York. It's Boston. Now you've got to add to that parking. So shame on anybody that responsible for that. And we all know that it's mostly due to the fact that there's an influx of students every single year, which keeps the prices high. Because they're always in demand every single apartment. Up and down Beacon street, Commonwealth avenue. They're all taken. And they all have waiting lists to get into it. Because they can keep charging more and more and more. And I'll pandemic added to that, but it's a sad state of affairs when the biggest really college town that there is. Is charging that much money. So what are you doing in one bedroom apartment with three people? Just to be able to afford it? Yeah. Can you pick the three? Those people. I've been waiting for you. I saw that show being taped in 1977 before it was ever on the air. Is that three's company? Yeah. They were taping as a replacement series for something else, and it came out in the fault, but it hadn't been on yet. And I went to watch a taping of that with John Ritter and Suzanne Somers and the other woman. Who cares? And I didn't know who the characters were or anything. You know, I was like, oh, isn't it a show? I thought that was kind of cute, funny. But then it ran for years and years and years, but I saw it before it was ever on TV. So I got that going for me. Did you laugh in the audience? Oh, you should have heard me. I was like, I want to make sure they heard me. You were that guy. Yeah. Even when it wasn't funny. Okay, so what else you got there, Mike? I got a lot of stuff. I got all these things. Am I so far? I mean, I'm right on the money here with these topics. Doing great. Keep going. So I'm lift driving the other day. I almost hold on a moment. Yeah, all right. On the road again. I can't wait to get on the road again. See that harmonization? So now you were Lyft driving the other day. And I this lady, there's two lanes of traffic down near WPI and everybody stopped them. And what the hell stop I'm looking up, there's no accident. What's going on here? Geese in the road. They come out. There's like two or three geese. Canada geese? I didn't ask them where they were from. I just waited and waited waiting. I'm way to pick somebody.

"A Twitter critique. Somebody critiqued me on Twitter, some guy, and I just check in my Twitter once a day. Maybe twice a day now? So I check in and says, there's three in a row comments from this guy. And he says, he's responding to each of my tweets that he didn't like. Joe Biden bending over picking something up behind the podium that he dropped and he says to the new nominee for the Supreme Court. He's just let me just pull this out for you. And that's what he said to her and I thought that was funny. You know, he's reaching down below as you can see his hands and he's done. Let me just pull this out for you. That's dirty. Excuse me while I whip this out. So I flew into that. So this guy took this guy tweets. I mean, you know, oh. You know, what an a hole you've become. You're so deplorable now, you know? Deplorable. That's what this guy said to you. To me. And other comments, though, he knows you personally. He just suddenly hates, now I look at him. Who is this guy? Do I know him? Yeah. His one follower. So I was going to write back to him, you know, I was sad when I had one follower, too. But I just wrote, go fuck yourself. G FY. That's what it stands for. That's very nice. And I blocked him, because he's got nothing to add to my life. Do you think his one follower is his other Twitter account? It could be. Maybe his boyfriend. Good girlfriend. Whenever he has. That's right. I don't think he has any friends. Twitter has told us he does not. Well, you know, but sometimes people, I don't know, they closet follow people. They don't want you to know they're following you. So you know what I mean? They just kind of keep an eye on it. Weird. Hey, so I didn't take it personally because I can't let things like that bother me. There's always going to be someone who disapproves of what you're doing. Always. But he did call you a deplorable. He should be proud of that. Yeah. You know, I just try to keep that person from being my wife. You don't want to do that again. I had enough of that the first time. Disapproval. And random scorn. So anyway, I just thought I mentioned that. As an aside, I don't have that as a topic to talk about, but when I was on the way in, the guy gave me shit. What the fuck are you? I don't care. Jesus. You think if I cared, I would care that much? Maybe he wants to date a little, don't you? Okay, I care. Damn it. I don't want him to quit. He might want to have trying to tweet good stuff. You might want to date you. Now, gas is going to be $6 in California. That's something I think we should all talk about. Yeah. Yeah. It's very expensive as a Lyft driver concerns me greatly. Come on, man. This makes the difference between me making shit money and me making no money. But I don't do the Lyft driving as you know for the money. You know that. Yeah. Somebody else did that. I don't do Lyft driving for money. I do it for the satisfaction of getting people where they need to be. We want to get that grand Marquis wired up so we can hear the conversations you have with these people. We got taxicab confessions. We got to add that to the things I got to do. There's a list going over here. Things I haven't done yet that I committed to 27 on the list. We'll help you. We'll help you with that list. I saw we're a team here. That's right. Yeah. I saw an Ed on TV and I think I'm gonna do this, but let me tell you the reasons I won't. I saw an ad for kitty poo club. Excuse me? The kitty pool club. Kitty, pool. I don't like the sound of this. Well, do you ever watch gunsmoke? Oh, miss kitty. No, seriously. It's like me and hard on the beaver. And Doc's always rubbing his face. I don't know. I think you have a VD. But kitty pool club is a thing where it's litter box based. So you order a litter box, some people love their cats more than they love their lives. Kitty with a tea. Yeah, no, it's not children's poo. No, it's cat poo. Started a fucked up business. No, so it's on TV. Kitty poop club. And I looked into it. I said, okay, first things first. In order for me to take advantage of the offers, they have on TV now. I have to have a cat. I don't have it. So I moved past that and mentally, I tried to picture myself with a cat and I say, oh, hey, so that's good, so it's a cardboard recyclable box to stand alone thing. And it's 1199 and they ship it right to your house, free shipping. They set it to your house and you set it up, and then you put litter in it. Oh, how much is the litter? 1399. So you say, okay, I got 11.99 and 1399. I bought 25 bucks. I get a month's worth of box and litter for my cat to take shits in. And you say, I get it. That's nice. And it's supposed to be stink odor free, as I said, recyclable. You fold it up, you whatever. I thought, well, that's good. Maybe I'll get a cat. I think, well, would I spend 24.99 a month on a cat? No, I wouldn't. He'll call it Gilligan. The cat can shit outside. As far as I'm concerned, we'd all do respect to kitty poop club, and it's a club. It's not just a box and the litter. It's a club. So this guy with the one follower, the tweeted me. You have a support joint. And he'd say no, I'm in a club first time ever. It's a support network. It's a cat shit club. It's awesome. So I look at it and say, well, 23 99, 24.99. To do this, club. And you say, well, what's the real benefit of it? Well, you don't have to. Well, you still have to do the same things you do with any kitty litter thing. You gotta clean the take out the clumps and it's the same thing. They're just scamming you. You can always tell that there's a cat living in somebody's house. It's always tell. I went for acupuncture appointment once. Catchy puncture. And the woman said, there was a big fluffy cat that walked across the kitchen floor. It was at her house. She found out it was the girl. She says the woman. There's fluffy. So fluffy goes by. But the permeating odor that was in the house was urine. There was definitely piss. It was carapace. It was awful. My mother used to she loves her cat. She named them all human names in my house. It wasn't fluffy. Or puffy or it wasn't any of those cutesy little Charles. Bob. Anthony, we had eloise. Robert. We had Francis. I'm telling you. Toby, we had all these names of and so when she'd talk about her cats, people would look at her like she was talking about one of her kids. My mother would say, I'm really worried about Robert. He hasn't been home all afternoon. He sounds like he goes an 8 year old out there who hasn't. No, it's like fucking cat. It was weird. Says what's the name of your dog? Timothy? Yeah. How fucking cat, you said? It's a cast. That's mean. My father used to just throw them outside when they annoy him. What? Not the window out of the front door. Yeah, the cat's always crept outside them. We had a cat my ex-wife didn't like this cat. She never let the cat in. The cat knew she didn't like her. There's a cat used to piss in the house. She wouldn't let her wouldn't let her in the house. And she stayed out. Her name was Madeline. She stayed outside. All the time. The cat? Coyotes. Every next wife. Oh, pray for that. You don't want her to bring fleas in..

"Maybe we should start calling him Benny from now on. Wouldn't that be great? Benny. Heck, you should change your entire stage handle. Then kitchen sounds a little too. I don't know. Work related. How about Benny Hannah? Happy birthday. Benny. Let's keep workshopping it. Let's keep spitballing that. That's a term I don't like. We're just spitballing here. So gross. Saliva, salivary glands, drool and stuff. Jesus. You know what girl Kate? When you make the move in to give him a kiss and then you start drooling on their chest. Wow, that's couldn't be they hate pleasant experience. They hate that. I would like that though, myself. Is it because they think it's something else and it happened a little prematurely or they just spit on their chest until they're about 60 65. You haven't met some of the right women. Ben, don't underestimate me. I've met them all. All of them? Yeah, me too. Doesn't mean I had any luck with any of them. We met them all. I met him. Hi, how are you? Good, good. Good to see you. Good. Hey, you're something. God, that sounds exhausting. Pitot used to do this impersonation of a coach and he'd say, this is where they talk. They don't even let you answer the question. They say, hey, how you doing? How are you doing good? Good, good to see you. And they answered the question before. You know, hi, how are you? Good, good. Good, good. Good to see you. Where are we? Oh yeah, this is the introduction to the podcast. Production. And ladies and gentlemen, here's the formal introduction. Ready? You're locked into America's most unique podcast. I wrote that. How long did that couldn't think of a word more descriptive of the podcast than unique, unique, it's 15, 20 minutes? You're locked into America's most unique podcast where we go on afraid of cancellation. Negative responses scornful reviews and PC assholes. Happy birthday. Brought to you by the way. We've been getting negative reviews? No, I don't know. No, I don't care. I don't know. Do I look like someone who cares? No. Let me ask you a question. Certainly do not. He walked in the door. He said, I don't give a shit. Don't give a shit anymore. Why else would you choose that face? People say, oh, you're a libertarian. Yes, so what? That's the first thing you see on my Twitter page. Yes, so what? It's like my handle. Wow. Because I don't care. Yeah, I'm a libertarian. You don't like it? Take a flying fuck at the moon. And charge it to me. Here's a review for you. 5 star review is titled legendary human. I remember writing that. At least one time during each episode, I say to myself, how could this guy ever get fired? I say the same thing. Oh man. And then I say, oh, well, a minute handed mutt. What accounts for all the others? Oh, there's always a reason. Ask me the station. I'll tell you why I got fired. Or quit. I quit twice. What? I quit the first time to take a job as the program director of rock one O two and Springfield. It was an upgrade. That one you massacred the entire staff. I had to. And the second time through, they don't know, he literally he massacred them. Second time my guy, you heard nothing about side Dresden or digit from Howard Stern. Cheapest owner in the history of radio. I think health benefits were $25 a month, 35 maybe? For the whole family. And I said, you know, could you cover? I was only making two 70 a week. Two 75 a week. I said, could you cover my health insurance? I got two little kids. Nope. Can't do it. I said, all right, then I quit. And he said, there's the door. He said, okay? So why'd you get fired from rock one or two? So then what? Rock one O two? Yeah. I think there was a mutiny a little bit of a mutiny there. Ross MacDonald. Ross. Ross, the boss McDonald, you know, who helped me steal the entire burkhart Abrams, album rock format from another station. We moved it in there. And we got the thing going and it was doing well. And then he told the owners that he would work for us to do the same thing I was doing, you know. And I was Chris, I was banging cocktail waitresses 5 at a time in my office. Okay, Fredo. No, I wasn't really asking. Anyway, but there's been no reason I ever got fired that was fair. Well, that station up in Portland. I can't remember all the WLB letters of all the states. They were selling the station. What a piece of shit. Each time you have a fire when you're fired, you have an opportunity for a comeback. I get a no job. I've always gotten another job. Except for the last time. Well, the last time is because that fat shit bob Goodell decided that mister Kerry was going to replace me. And I'm just waiting for her to, you know, someone to find out her hair is not really that color. Oh man. Okay, all right, I'm sorry. See how I digress? It's either depression or digression. Well, you're a professional. Or a profession. It's something ashen. But we are brought to you by apothecary, ales of north, reading Massachusetts where Ben kitchen will be going to celebrate his birthday. His 37th birthday? Yes, sir. Ben is 37 years old. Today. Jesus. Happy birthday. Have you ever heard of that? And many more. I always want to smack people that yell that out at the end. I will hold you now. That's worse. Are you one? Are you three? I'll hit you up side the head with this dictionary. Okay, now I have a whole bunch of things. By the way, when a little while because baseball is now on the cusp of maybe closing down again. Yeah. We're going to call the spaceman Bill Lee, who not only is a former baseball major league player. But he's at least partially responsible. He and Marvin Miller, and all the other player agents for all this free agent craft that's been going on forever and ever and ever. So we'll get to him and just come in and he's played baseball in Russia. And China. Wow. Well, Russia is a little bit more in the news. Well, really, you think? But that doesn't matter. They're both commie states. He's played in Cuba. He got arrested in Russia. You know what? Did he? Billy's got some freaking stories from his travels, which are unbelievable. He goes to Cuba and he rents this old 57 Thunderbird to be a rental car to drive around Cuba where he's playing baseball there. Smashes it into a fire heist. Ruins it. You can't get any more 57 thunderbirds. I'll ask him about that. He's still driving his dad's Buick. He's got like 400,000 miles on it. He doesn't care. He drives it all over the country. I'm surprised me. All right, so and some of this is going to get from saving some of this topical stuff here for the 15 minutes of shame, which is taken off Ben. Have you seen the exciting news podcast? It's only 15 minutes long. Have you seen the numbers on it though? I mean, it's just on believable. Double digits, baby. Per episode now, yeah. I'm just kidding. Does she look on my face? I went from a link to no, no, no, that's where in the thousands. All right, relax. My face became Juan WAN. Suddenly I had a wand look on my face. That was one, yeah. So we're no one ever uses anymore. Obi-Wan. My face turned Juan. I used to know one. Okay, I want to mention. It takes one to know one. I got a whole list of things I want to mention real quick. Do you guys want to play one on one later? One on one? No. That's a song by hall and Oates. Remember? So one on one. I'm gonna play my game tonight. One is the loneliest number. It's also the Mexican basketball league. It's also the guy that does my gardening. Good guy. Yeah. All.

Joe so i think it's fair to say that no one is really arguing. That taxes shouldn't be paid like the tax provision in the bill at a high level. Our armed problematic. I don't want to steal. Rogers thunder. Because i know he's gonna get into some details in a little bit about why they are problematic Sort of in the weeds but paying taxes is is good The problem comes from the inclusion of minors which sort of that clip alluded to to kick us off here and can you just give us like high level summary of like what's problematic in this bill where it came from what what the language is is covering wise little bit of a headache for minors. Yeah i do think it is a very disingenuous posture. For anyone to take to say that were community of tax-evaders people are actively a purposefully out of compliance. I don't think that's the case. Don't roofing that's a very honest way to talk about the situation. The irs has not her binded guidance to our community at least comprehensive guidance since two thousand fourteen the first time the irs weighed in on bitcoin. Industrial was in two thousand fourteen. When they said for tax purposes they would be treated as property on back in twenty fourteen. Which has now been years ago on. They also opened up a public comment period and they they received over three hundred comments across the united states from all sorts of people incorporations asking to clarify a lot of things just basic questions about how to comply with on with these requirements and the irs has refused to share really much detail at all or issue meaningful guidance to help people in businesses other waffle participants in this face how to comply on. There's also numerous companies on an organizations including is at the chamber of digital commerce who submitted numerous formal requests to irs asking for more detailed information around the questions are businesses in the people we represent have about to comply on so. I don't think that's fair to say i think a lot of this is political posturing. How the whole crypto industry is now funding this massive Huge part of the infrastructure. Bill is quite unbelievable to me. I don't think this isn't inappropriate. Process if the irs should have provided this guidance a long time ago when people ask for and if they did. I don't think we would be in this situation today on there are definitely some questions on Irs have statutory authority to do so even the irs has own inspector general has criticized the irs for the lack of clarity on regulations that applied to digital assets encrypted currencies so..

Tennessee Could Require Fetal Remains Be Buried or Cremated

"Tennessee State House has Passed a bill requiring that the fetal remains of aborted babies be buried or cremated after abortion. The Republican Party controls both the Statehouse and state Senate. I'm sure you're surprised to hear that. And Tennessee's Republican governor, Bill Lee has historically been highly supportive the pro life legislation so it's likely that the bill will be enacted later this section. If the law passes and assigned to Tennessee would become one of about a dozen states. Who have enacted or attempted to enact the so called fetal remains

Gov. Bill Lee enacts gathering restrictions, refuses mask mandate as Tennessee COVID-19 outbreak surges

"As we monitor covid nineteen across the country. Let's take a closer look at the outbreak in tennessee which now tops the us. In per-capita cases of the coronavirus joining us is blake farmer. Healthcare reporter for national public radio. Blake the tennessee health. Commissioner said yesterday that another holiday surge would break the state's hospitals. What is the situation like there now. Well when you look at hospitals you can talk about capacity in terms of percentages. But they just don't tell the whole story. Hospitals are expanding their covert. Icu's they're turning waiting rooms into patient areas at least. Two hospitals in tennessee had a call on a government stockpile for ventilators. They've been making it work and they're doing more than they ever could have imagined earlier this year but they are really worried about. What's next for the next few weeks. We see that thirty percent of covid tests are coming back positive in tennessee and yet the governor bill lee a republican continues to refuse a statewide mask mandate would what steps is he taking if any. He's really been adamant about not mandating masks. He notes that about seventy percent of the state is under mask mandates. Right now local ones. He argues a statewide. Mandate could actually backfire. Not sure how it would really make things worse. But he's certainly encouraging local. Mayors to to make that mask mandate at this point. Well governor lead. Did last night was banned public gatherings of more than ten people now. There are lots of exceptions weddings. Funerals religious services. It also doesn't actually restrict private gatherings even though the governor has said people really need to stay with just their household for the next month even during the holidays so these may not sound super strict but they are some of the first statewide restrictions tennessee heads since the summer. Yeah speaking of the holidays. Christmas of course is on friday and the new year so of hospitals are struggling right now. Are they prepared for what could come. Oh man i mean. The big issue is staffing not space it. The states even started to run out of options there though. They thought they'd be able to just fly in traveling nurses and doctors but they're not available. Now they're working all over the country so they've called on the medical reserve corps in the state which i'm not sure i even knew existed before this. They've even talked to students like maybe registered nurse. Who went back to be a nurse practitioner to ask them to spend their christmas break. Picking up shifts and state health officials. Say they're just looking under every rock to find help until vaccines kickin. Blake farmer from nashville public radio. Thank you so much. You're welcome
