"And senior marketing director at Bill Jack foods who just may have the answer for us. Welcome kim. How are you? I'm great. How are you? Good. Good. Good. You could tell the listeners a little about yourself. So that they understand where you're coming from and your expertise in pet nutrition. I've been in pet food for over seventeen years. So it's been a while. You know, what I've seen a lot of different kinds of questions and one of the questions that we get a lot as you know, all of us are really trying to keep our pets, healthy and happy. That's really I think one of our number one jobs and our number one responsibilities of being responsible parent. So, you know, how do you know that they're healthy or, you know, one should you suspect that they're not healthy? So what we wanted to give everybody a few signs of health. In your dog that you can look for to make sure that things are going what they should. And that's so important. So what kind of signs can we look forward to ensure our pets healthy? Yeah. You know? I can. I think the number one sign that you should before. It's just overall energy and vitality. You know is your dog alert. You know, are they kind of are they active are they engaged with you and the family and you again every dog is different. So, you know, it's hard to say, you know, if you have a Basset hound, and we're talking energy level versus if you have maybe a border collie mix that might be very different in terms of the kind of energy that you got. So, you know, part of it is just trying to get to know your dog and student energy and vitality level, but you're really looking for that consistent energy level from them. And when that changes, right, if it goes up too much or oftentimes, it may go down, you know, that's when you might want to be looking for. Hey, you know, what is the cause about of that issue? The second thing I'd say look for is skin and coach everybody really talks about having a nice, soft skin and coat, and again, depending on the kind of dog breed mix that you have that you really going to be looking for kind of the coat to be smooth to be soft and silky. If you have a breed that has a soccer coach. I'm you're looking for. You know hair and further all the way around the dog. And that you're not gonna have any patches where there might be some of it missing. And you know, hotspots, obviously. So again, when you don't see those things, then, you know, hey, my dog is really doing doing. Well, you know, they're not shedding a lot more. You want them to be kind of having a consistent amount of shied. Although I know that there's some seasonality to that here and there. Yeah. And I think you're the third thing we always look for is digestive health. You know? So when I'd say digestive health what we mean, as you know, dogs can occasionally get an upset stomach. But you know, if your dog, maybe gotten sick, you know, and maybe vomited of maybe one time that might be one thing. But if your dog is on a consistent basis, you know, not keeping down their food or getting sick. And that's the thing for you to kind of notice. Right 'cause that's not a normal thing. Right. In the past. I understand how stressful to the pet parent, and you wanna make sure that you get your pet on the past two great digestive health. Yeah. So that's that's really an important thing. And I think last but not least certainly is consistent urination and bowel movement pattern. Right. So you want to make sure that they're going out regularly that they're actually urinating, and that you know, that that's not a problem. They're not having any kind of blockage or anything not straining, or or you know, yelping whenever they would go to the bathroom. They're not having accidents indoors your indoor accidents. You know, are really interesting. They could be potentially behavioral depending on your dog or sometimes they may be indicative of a problem. So maybe they have an inner planned infection. Maybe they have a urinary tract infection. So I'm thinking about you know, are they having accidents endorse that may be a sign of something else. Besides just a behavioral thing and last, but not least it's really important for you to have small firm stores. Right. Your dog should consistently on a regular. Basis be having small firms, tools and not straining. So those are really kind of the four overall signs if you're seeing those healthy sized dogs have overall energy that they're getting coat as healthy that healthy digestive. You know, healthy digestive tract, and then also consistent bowel movements that I think you and there's small firms tools, then you should know that your dog should be in a healthy state. Absolutely. And the barometer of my day is checking them every month. Yeah. Right now, whether you have kids or whether you have have dogs or cats, you're you're talking about bowel movements. That's very important nutrition is so pivotal to our pets health. Can you give us some tips to better understand, you know, those nutrition labels? Can you explain about the pet nutrition? Labels. Yeah. You know, every we're very highly regulated product industry. So it's you know, we, you know, we wanna make sure that we're producing good things. And then we also have a lot of rules and regulations to make sure that we are. And so one of the things that we are highly regulated on is on labels. And so we need to tell you and let you know kind of what this dog food is four. So there's actually a nutritional adequacy statement that's from Lasko, which is the association of animal control. Feed officials that tells you whether or not this Buddhist for maintenance, which means for adult dogs than older or if it's for growth, which is for puppies. Or if it's for growth and maintenance, you know, all life stages, so you can find out to make sure that your dog food is appropriate. It should be a little statement on there that that talks about Africa's AFC. Oh, and and that will show you kind of what it is. And and also with our ingredients were also very highly regulated we have to put our ingredients in order of wait. So you know, what's in there? I is the thing that there's the most of what's in their last on ingredient panel is what's in there and in the least amount. So you're always going to be wanna look for a good high quality protein, you know, chicken, for example, you know, I know we really believe very highly and chicken because we will think it's a great protein source for I mean, oh acids and amino acids are really important because there are eleven of them that dogs need to have every day, and they get them from their food. They cannot make them they can make some of the other. I mean, oh acids, and those are the essential amino acids, but there are these eleven essential amino acids, and they need to be gotten gotten from the food. And so it's really important to be able to feed the food that has that and protein is where a lot of those amino acids come from. And that's so important to know. No, you know, to know all those facts because sometimes we look at the labels, and we go, okay. What the pet parents that consumers? How did they begin this journey to select a formula that's best for healthy lifestyle? I think it's always important to think about how is your dog doing, you know, how do you are you really feeding them a food that is appropriate for them. You know, if they're getting a little overweight, for example, because that's that's kind of a key key thing for to keeping them healthy. If they're getting overweight, you know, do you need to reduce the food that you're feeding now maybe feed a little bit less and monitor that a little bit better. Should you? Maybe consider getting a reduced fat formula. And maybe that would help them be able to lose the weight, and and kind of commit to getting them to a healthier place. Maybe they're finicky eater. I mean, I know we've talked before about we have a picky. No more formula. And we get a lot of feedback from dog owners. But, you know, hey, you know, my dog really doesn't love to eat his food. And we will talk about how the special way that we make Bill Jack because we use so much chick. And we you we took it very slowly, you know, those things really kind of in combination really help that to be a healthy for the dog. And so, you know, if they're finicky find a food that they were like because hopefully, then you know, they'll eat better. And then you won't have to worry about how they're doing. Or, you know, maybe you're getting older, you know, their nutritional change their nutritional requirements do change over time. So, you know, looking for that like if they if they are seven years and older, maybe it's time to look at a senior food, for example. So those are the kinds of things to kind of think about and, you know, a lot of times it's funny because you just take for granted that your food is working. And yeah, we do get a lot of feedback. Sometimes when people do change when I do change the Bill, Jack, we get a lot of feedback of oh gosh. My senior dog has energy it back. So I mean, you really have to kind of like I said monitor your dog and making some of those changes can be helpful to getting your dog on the path to being healthy and happy, and it's so important for us as pet parents to be aware of. That because you think that you, you know, maybe you feed your your pet the same food day in day out day in day out, and then there's different needs whether it be their senior, whether it be their overweight, whether maybe they're picky in their starting not to like the food anymore. And what Bill giant offers is a lot of alternate solutions. Now where can people go to learn more about Bill, Jack? Yeah, you know, I always suggest to come out to our website. "Bill Jack foods to tell us all about keeping our pet safe in this hot summer heat. Welcome kim. How are you? I'm great. Thanks for having me on. Oh, our pleasure now. You know, it's really we sometimes a girl exciting because it's summer we have all these festivities and things to do. We want to get out with our pets and stuff. But sometimes it doesn't always work that way. We can you discuss some of the ways that we could keep our pet safe during the summer. He. Yeah. You know, I think it's really important. Like, you said, you know, we want to get outside. We wanna be able to do things, but we really need to think about what effect they might have on our dogs. And so, you know, things to think about are, you know, especially watching out for strokes. Right. So. You know, if they're overheating, and that's really kind of an important thing to think about because, you know, dogs, don't sweat like you, and I do, and so you know, they. You know, we probably talked about this before, but they tend to sweat through their pas a little bit. And that's and that's one of the places, obviously, whether oftentimes touching warm things right hot things like the pavement. And so it's sometimes hard for them to keep cool when it's so warm, and so it's good to be able to look out for those kind of warning signs of of excessive heat. So, you know, maybe for example, they're getting a little bit sluggish or they seem to be getting disoriented when they're outside. Yeah. That's a sign that you should be kind of watching out for if they're telling us bright red or they're drooling a lot frothing at the mouth that can be a sign that they're they're getting overheated and going into heat stroke, or if they're having a hard time kind of walking their staggering or if they might be vomiting. You know, those are all things that those are things you want to watch out for that you want to go out and have fun. Right. But you wanna make sure that you're not going going pass on and having having them outside in the heat too long. Now, what are some ways to prevent your pet from overheating? I mean it. It's great those signs are like so important. So I hope that people are taking notes on this because it's really important to know the signs, but what are some of the ways to prevent our pets from overheating in the summer heat. We know that there's a couple of five kind of different ways to think about when you're outdoors doing things, you know, what to do and what not to do. So for example. Of course, we all know, the big no-no is never ever ever leave your dog in the car. And so this is, you know, this is always one of those things where I just hate to your all the tragedies on the on the news. You know that kind of thing you want to be able to keep them safe. And you know, even in a seventy degree day in a car. The temperature can get up over a hundred degrees very quickly and dogs bodies can't get over one hundred and three degrees. Otherwise, I get. That's when they start really getting very sick with heat jokes. So it's really important not to leave them in the car because again, they can get it can get up to over one hundred and fifty eight hundred seventy degrees in maybe fifteen or twenty minutes. So so it's important to keep them keep them with you. If you can or not. Take them at all in the first place. Secondly, I think it's about water, right? You know, certainly being sensitive about nutrition, your water is one of those key ingredients that we all need to have when we're out. And so being able to take something that you can give your dog. You know, there's so many cool things that created that you can take for water bottles for dogs that you can actually you know, it in there, and they can lap it up or you know, there's so many foldable things you could just both in your pocket and give them some of your water. So it's just really important to make sure that you bring some water with you. And that you're paying attention to how hydrated they are. You know, if you're if you're seeing them have kind of dry sticky, gums, or you know, again, they're getting some kind of drooling or there is look they're a little bit sunk in those are the those are kind of the the things you for dehydration. So make sure you bring about a water for you about your dog. So that you kind of everybody's stays nice and hydrated, you know, and that's really an important tip in her in olives carrier because I take her with me everywhere. So she's always with me. I know I have it's a little biddy collapsible dog bowl. And by those little stubs, you know, the little bitty waters. Right in the pocket of her carrier. Because it's you never know. We could get stuck in traffic. You don't know. What's going to happen? You don't know if you're out at a dog, you know, dog Parker it an event how warm it's going to be. So that's such a wonderful tip because they can't get dehydrated. I mean, that's one of the, you know, that's a that's a horrible thing and overheated. Yeah. And it happened so fast, especially I know that you know, you and I both have smaller dogs. Is certainly can happen. Very very fast, especially in a smaller dog or dogs that have, you know, a lot of for maybe that are more, you know, that are more winter oriented dogs. Right. So if they have, you know, have your coats, it can happen pretty fast, even though dogs usually have try their best to kind of keep their temperature as they can. It's also it's also really important to think about when you're going out on walks. You know, what time are you going out? You know, certainly as the temperatures now are getting into the eighties and the nineties and the hundreds for some of us, you know, around the country, you know, it's really important to think about you know, trying to get out earlier or later potentially for a walk. So maybe before eight AM when it's still a little bit cooler out or after six PM, it's important to think about where are you blocking? You know, if you can walk in your neighborhood on grass or you can take them to the park and walk on grass or on a trail that's oftentimes cooler than the asphalt or the concrete. And so I saw a really cool tip. I don't know if you've heard about this tip. But I I saw this really cool tip from the moon valley training center. They said you should use the back of your hand and put it on the pavement for five seconds. And if you can't hold your hand there for five seconds easily. That means it's going to be too hot for your dog's positive potentially burn their paws, it whether it be, you know, cement or the the black asphalt it hot temperature. Even though it's later in the day that temperature could still be it could be so hot on a little pads because it holds the heat. So that's a great tip here. No, I thought that that was kind of a neat way to kind of a quick way to be able to tell if it's really hot or not. And so I know that I know that that's kind of a a quick way to do that. And you know, they've actually created like lots of socks these days. But if you know if you do like to walk your dog, and it's on warmer pavement. You know, obviously, you need to be careful and how that water with you. But there's lots of different kinds of booties that aren't just for winter. But are actually for the warm months as well. So there are ways to protect your dog. If you're if you're talk doesn't mind weird booties, and you're careful about being out there in the heat. I think that that's that's always. A nice thing to do. But it is really important to think about that asphalt. And and look at that. And you were talking about the boot. I mean, when I had my big greyhounds, we they each had their Pero booties, and we used them for the winter months, and then we had appeared for the summer months because we take him on long walks, and they you know, sometimes you can't always control where you walk in. And it didn't it could be hot so booties. I, you know. Hey accessories. Wherein? Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. And and plus, you know, you just look for stylish. It's always fun to look at people watching you. Well about that. And I think it's also it's also, you know, we also need to be careful about the things that are outside too. When you're when you're out with your dog, certainly there's a lot more fertilizer around, you know, garage doors, maybe open dogs may be able to get into things in the garage doors, where maybe like in the wintertime, they're not out and about as much, and so you wanna make sure that you know, you're also watching people's lawns. So when you're walking, you know, a lot of times people when they get their lawn treated fertilizer, they'll put flags on our lawns. And so it's important kind of keep your your heads up your eyes open and kind of see if they've got their flags out on the corners. Because you know, I know sometimes I'm walking and I'm not realizing that I'm coming up on a flag. So it's real important. You know, you can actually watch anything kind of keep your dog off their lawn. So you don't have to worry about them getting into any kind of pesticide residue or fertilizer residue on their pas when you're out walking, and you can always wipe them real quick when they get in. I'm sure it'd be nice in here with a nice cool towel. It would probably feel nice. And and would also be a great way to kind of clean their paws off in case. They've done. On any lawns where there are any fertilizer. That's important too. Because what do they do? They depaz go to their face. So that's real. Yeah. Yeah. I am a big proponent of wiping their feet whenever they come in. So, you know, there there are a lot of fertilizers out there. These days that that can be safe. And and actually don't have a lot of chemicals that have been are more natural. But not everybody uses those sorts going to keep a heads up and kind of keep your dog is protected education from getting anything in their mouth around their body that they don't need to have as far as just keeping our pets healthy throughout the year. You have any good tips on that. We know obviously, it's important as we talked about to have water and make sure your dog is well hydrated. But it's also important to make sure that they're getting the great foundational nutrition that they need day in and day out to be healthy. So so the food that you pay plays such a large role in their health over their lifetime. So it's important to make sure that you're feeling good. High quality food that has a real good solid high quality protein as.

"But I think it's always important to think about you know, how is your dog doing, you know, how do you are you really feeding on a food that is appropriate for them. You know, if they're getting a, you know, a little overweight, for example, because that's that's kind of a key key things to keeping them healthy. If they're getting overweight, you know, do you need to reduce the food that you're feeding now maybe feed a little bit less and monitor that a little bit better. Should you? Or they might be vomiting. Those are all things that those are things you want to watch out for you want to go out and have fun. Right. But you wanna make sure that you're not going going pass on and having having them outside in the heat too long. Now, what are some ways to prevent your pet from overheating? I mean it. It's great those signs are like so important. So I hope that people are taking notes on this because it's really important to know the signs, but what are some of the ways to prevent our pets overheating in the summer heap. We know that there's a couple five kind of different ways to think about when you're outdoors doing things, you know, what to do and what not to do. So for example. Of course, we all know, the big no-no is never ever ever leave your dog in the car. And so this is this is always one of those things where I just hate to hear all the tragedies on the on the news. You know that kind of thing you want to be able to keep them safe. Even in a seventy degree day in a car. The temperature can get up over a hundred degrees very quickly and dogs bodies can't get over one hundred and three degrees. Otherwise, I that's when they start really getting very sick with heat stroke. So it's really important not to leave them in the car because again, they can get it can get up to over one hundred and fifty eight hundred seventy degrees in maybe fifteen or twenty minutes. So so it's important to keep them keep them if you can or not. Take them at all in the first place. Secondly, I think it's about water, right? You know, certainly being sensitive about nutrition near water is one of those key ingredients that we all need to have when we're out. And so being able to take something that you can give your dog. You know, there are so many cool that'll things that they've created that you can take for water bottles for dogs that you can actually, you know, port in there, and they can lap it up or you know, there's so many foldable things you could just both in your pocket and give them some of your water. So it's just really important to make sure that you bring some water with you. And that you're paying attention to how hydrated they are. You know, if you're if you're seeing them have kind of dry sticky gums, or again, they're getting some kind of drooling or there is there a little bit sunk in those are the those are kind of the the things you look for for hydration. So make sure you bring about a lot of for you bottled water for your dogs. So that you kind of everybody's stays nice and hydrated, you know, and that's really an important tip in her in olives carrier because I take her with me everywhere. So she's always with me. I know I have it's a little biddy collapsible dog bowl. And by those little stubs, you know, the little bitty waters. Would it right in the pocket of her carrier? Because it's you never know. We could get stuck in traffic. You don't know what's going to happen. You don't know if you're out at a dog dog Parker at an event, how warm it's going to be. So that's such a wonderful tip because they can't get dehydrated. I mean, that's one of the, you know, that's a that's a horrible thing and overheated. Yeah. And it happened so fast. Actually, I know that you know, you, and I both have smaller dogs is certainly can happen. Very very fast, especially in the smaller dog or dogs that have, you know, a lot of for maybe that are more, you know, that are more winter oriented dogs. Right. So if they have, you know, heavier coats, it can happen pretty fast, even though dogs usually have try their best to kind of keep their temperature as they can. It's also it's also really important to think about when you're going out on walks. You know, what time are you going out? You know, certainly as temperatures now are getting into the eighties and the nineties and the hundreds for some of us, you know, around the country, you know, it's really important to think about you know, trying to get out earlier or later potentially for a walk. So maybe before eight AM when it's still low bit cooler out or after six PM, it's important to think about where are you talking? You know, if you can walk in your neighborhood on grass, or you can take them to the park and walk on grass or on a trail that's oftentimes cooler than the asphalt, you know, or the concrete, and so I saw a really cool tip. I don't know if you've heard about this. But I I saw this really cool tip from the moon valley training center, and they said you should use the back of your hand and put it on the pavement for five seconds. And if you can't hold your hand there for five seconds easily. That means it's going to be too hot for your dog's positive potentially burn their pause, it whether it be cement or the the black asphalt it in that hot temperature. Even though it's later in the day that temperature could still be it could be so hot on a little pads because it holds the heat. So that's a great tip here. No, I thought that was kind of a neat way to to kind of a quay to be able to tell if it's really hot or not. And so no that John. I know that that's kind of a quick way to do that. If you're if you're dog doesn't mind we're duties, and you're careful about being out there in the heat. So I think that that's that's always a nice thing to do. But it is really important to think about that asphalt. And and look at that. And you were talking about the I mean when I had my big greyhounds, we they each had their pair booties, and we used them for the winter months, and then we had a pair for the summer months because we take them on long walks, and they you know, sometimes you can't always control where you walk in. And it didn't it could be hot so booties. I, you know. Hey accessories. Wherein? Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. And I you know, you just look for stylish. It's always fun to look at people watching you. Well about that. And I think it's also it's also, you know, we also need to be careful about the things that are outside too. When you're when you're out with your dog, certainly there's a lot more fertilizer around, you know, garage doors, maybe open dogs may be able to get into things in the garage where maybe like in the wintertime, you know, they're not out in about as much, and so you wanna to make sure that you're also watching people's lawns. So when you're walking, you know, a lot of times people wanna get their long treated with fertilizer, they'll put flags on their lawns. And so it's important to keep your your heads up your eyes open and kind of see if they've got their flags out on the corners. Because you I know sometimes I'm walking, and I'm not realizing that I'm coming up on a flag. And and would also be a great way to kind of clean their paws off and they've done. Onto any lawns. Where there are any fertilizer. That's important too. Because what do they do? They depaz go to their face. So that's real. Yeah. Yeah. I I am a big proponent of wiping their feet whenever they come in. So yeah, I know there there are a lot of fertilizers out there. These days that that can be safe. And and actually don't have a lot of chemicals that are more natural. But not everybody uses those sorts going to kind of keep a heads up and kind of keep your dog is protected education from getting anything in their mouth on their body that they don't need to have as far as just keeping our pets healthy throughout the year. You have any good tips on that. We know obviously, it's important as we talked about to have water and make sure your dog is well hydrated. But it's also important to make sure that they're getting the great foundational nutrition that they need day in and day out to be healthy. So so the food they eat pay plays such a large role in their health over their lifetime. So it's important to make sure that you're feeding feeling good. High quality food that has a a real good solid high quality protein as the first thing.

"And senior marketing director at Bill Jack foods who just may have the answer for us. Welcome kim. How are you? I'm great. How are you? Good. Good. Good. You could tell the listeners a little about yourself. So that they understand where you're where you're coming from and your expertise in pet nutrition. Yeah. You know, I've been in pet food for over seventeen years. So it's been a while. You know, what I've seen a lot of different kinds of questions and one of the questions that we get a lot is, you know, all of us are really trying to keep our pets, healthy and happy. That's really I think one of our number one jobs and our number one responsibilities of being a responsible parent. So, you know, how do you know that they're healthy? Or you know, when should you suspect that they're not healthy? So we wanted to give everybody a few signs of health. And your dog that you can look for to make sure that things are going what they should. And that's so important. So what kind of signs can we look for to ensure our pets healthy? Yeah. You know, I think the number one sign that you should before. It's just overall energy and vitality. You know is your dog alert. You know, are they kind of are they active are they engaged with you and the family, and you're again every dog is different. So, you know, it's hard to say, you know, if you have a Basset hound, and we're talking energy level versus if you have maybe a border collie mix that that might be very different in terms of the kind of energy that you got. So, you know, part of it is just trying to get to know your dog and energy and vitality level, but you're really looking for that consistent energy level from them. And when that changes, right, if it goes up too much or oftentimes, it may go down, you know, that's when you might want to be looking for what is the cause of that of that issue? The second thing I'd say look for his skin and coach everybody really talks about having a nice soft skin and coach, and again, depending on the kind of dog breed mix that you have that you really going to be looking for kind of the coat to be smooth to be soft and silky. If you have a breed that has a softer coat on your look. Looking for you, know, hair and further all the way around the dog. And that you're not gonna have any patches where there might be some of it missing. And you know, hotspots, obviously. So again, when you don't see those things, then you're no, hey, my dog is really doing doing. Well, you know, they're not shedding a lot more than you want them to be kind of having a consistent amount of shed. Although I know that there's some seasonality to that here and there. Yeah. And I think you're the third thing we always look for is digestive health. You know, when I'd say digestive health what we mean, as you know, dogs can occasionally get an upset stomach. If your dog, maybe gotten sick, you know, and maybe vomited of maybe one time that might be one thing. But if your dog is on a consistent basis, you know, not keeping down their food or getting sick. And that's the thing for you kind of notice. Right because that's not a normal thing. Right. In the past. I understand how you know. It's stressful to the pet parent and you want to get your pet on the past two great digestive health. Yeah. So that's that's really an important thing. And I think last but not least certainly is consistent urination and bowel movement pattern. Right. So, you know, you wanna make sure that they're going out regularly that they're actually urinating, and that you know, that that that's not a problem. They're not having any kind of blockage or anything, they're not straining, or or you know, yelping whenever they go to the bathroom. They're not having accidents indoors indoor accidents are really interesting. They could be potentially behavioral depending on your dog or sometimes they may be indicative of a problem. So maybe they have an inner land infection. Maybe they have a urinary tract infection. So I'm thinking about are they having accidents endorse that may be a sign of something else. Besides just a behavioral thing and last, but not least it's really important for you to have small firm stores. Right. Your dog should consistently on a regular. Basis be having small firms, tools and not straining. So those are really kind of the four overall signs that if you're seeing those, you know, those healthy sized dogs have overall energy that they're getting coat as healthy that they unhealthy digestive. You know, healthy digestive tract, and then also consistent bowel movements. Then I think you and there's small firms tools, then you should know that your dog should be in a healthy state. Absolutely. And the barometer of my day is checking them every morning. Yeah. Because she ate it right now. Whether you have kids or whether you have have dogs or cats, you're you're talking about the movements. It's very important nutrition is so pivotal to our pets health. Can you give us some tips to better understand, you know, those nutrition labels? Can you explain about the pet nutrition? Labels. Yeah. You know, every we're very highly regulated product industry. So it's, you know, we are you know, we wanna make sure that we're producing good things. And then we also have a lot of rules and regulations to make sure that we are. And so one of the things that we are highly regulated on is on labels. And so we need to tell you. And and let you know kind of what this dog food is four. So there's actually a nutritional adequacy statement that's from Africo, which is the association of animal control. Feed officials that tells you whether or not this Buddhist for maintenance, which means us for adult dogs than older or if it's for growth, which is for puppies. Or if it's for growth and maintenance, you know, all life stages, so you can find out to make sure that your dog food is appropriate. It should be a little statement on there that that talks about Africa's AFC. Oh, and and that will show you kind of what it is. And also with our ingredients were also very highly regulated we have to put our ingredients in order of wait. So you know, what's in there? I is the thing that there's the most of and what's in their last on ingredient panel is what's in there and in the least amount. So you're always going to be wanna look for a good high quality protein, you know, chicken, for example, you know, I know we really believe very highly and chicken because we to think it's a great protein source for I mean, oh acids and amino acids are really important because there are eleven of them dogs need to have every day, and they get them from their food. They cannot make them they can make some of the other. I mean, oh acids, and those aren't the essential amino acids, but there are these eleven essential amino acids, and they need to be gotten gotten from the food. And so it's really important to be able to feed the food that has that and protein is where a lot of those amino acids come from. And that's so important to know. No. Oh, all those facts. Because sometimes we look at the labels, and we go, okay. What the pet parents that consumers? How did.

"Welcome back everyone to the doggie debate show and we have with us today kim gabe land senior marketing director bill jack foods and our nutrition contributor and she is here to talk about how important march is for awareness as a matter of fact march is head poison prevention awareness month welcome kim how are you i'm greg thanks for having me on our pleasure now i just went through the poison prevention awareness that fast why is pep poison prevention month why is it so important in it's an important topic for every dog on her hey now there are a lot of things that are pets can get into and yeah the majority of the calls to the poison headlines are really from dog owners right dogs tend to be curious they tend to get into a lot of things we don't always realize the things that we have around the house they can they can maybe make them six on so it could be slightly sick or could actually be life threatening so it's very important for us to talk about what are the things around our house we should look for and how to keep our pets safe from any kind of things there's we might be creating now what kind of toxins shipowners be aware of that are in their house or in their car or just generally all around yeah i kind of turned to break them up until like indoors and outdoors and then also kind of talk about plants as well so you're from indoor perspective you know the things that we use every day other things like our medicine you know whether it's over the counter medicines like even like ibuprofen or an approximation or acetaminophen things chick every day for a headache or some aches that can be very dangerous to dogs or even our prescription medicine yes take aid or something about inside or even the cholesterol drugs czar fiveway and the really very dangerous if you drop a pill and your dogs wall so and even like our vitamins don't should actually be touched know if you have a to get a smaller dog but even in larger dogs that could be a very big dose of something that your dog doesn't need so you know it's really important to think about putting your medicines together or taking your health maybe in a place where the dog is not i dropped it though before and i've gotten pretty quickly but you have to be real careful right because they could get them and you could even maybe not even know that you drop something that's what's scary because some people don't even know what happened so that's why it's that was great advice take your pills in a place where the dog is not at like ticket in in the kitchen or in the bathroom where you have the counter right in front of you so you're not it's so if something falls you're not gone that something false yeah there's a lot of foods right that people a lot of people know the chocolate especially dark chocolate yeah people know about dark chocolate but there's a lot of other things like raisins and grapes that are very bad for a onions for example can cause a heinz anemia and they have too many onions so that's that's not a good thing method damian notch are also bad for for dogs to ingest and then the one that has really been coming up and i don't know if you've i think you've probably been hearing about it too tall and that's a sweetener and candy but it's also been making its way into some of the suit that we eat every game and things like butter and some.

"It and i know that the night before we went on the air channel seven did six minutes in a half hour newscast now when you think about it have our newscast eight minutes right away goes to commercials you got twenty two minutes to do the local and national news sports and weather and they give six minutes to the story billy jack haynes and the boys track so we figured out that was the big deal and i plan on interviewing bill jack ehnes half hour and it went to an hour and fifteen minutes and then i get something that says it's a subpoena from the sony county prosecuting attorney's office but again it was an email but i missed we can have later i got an email saying hey what about that subpoena powell and i'm like subpoena what so i had to go back and find it but you know legally for it to be legit they're supposed to actually hand delivery you one everybody's looking at going this is weird and then i'm like well swing county i mean what anyway directed the doc washburn furnish any and all applicable television news footage records i don't do television news footage and information kept in the normal course of business including but not limited to any and all interviews with billy jack haynes including but not limited to what else do they want i've been on the air here almost four years we we don't have recordings most the stuff that i did but the thing that really was weird was it said that this whole thing was arising from the representation and reasonable cause to believe that a certain individual has committed a crime and selene county arkansas to be served upon doc washburn and i'm sitting here going wait a minute so you think i committed a crime i mean what the what what so anyway i i found it it'd be very unusual and i hope i could be forgiven for thinking that or at least getting the impression wondering if somebody is trying to chill my first amendment free speech here instead before and i'll say it again when i first mentioned the boys in the tracks case i'd only been here for a few months and this is like over three years ago and i.

"The majority probably are uh but bill jack is a great coach and brady is you know greatest quarterback in the history of the nfl in in the world and so you can't us stop guys like that and i think what we have to do is we have to play a smart full complete game in in the game plan goes peterson the game plan has to be just right there at listen you play the game for a long time to very high level you went up against some of the best quarterbacks of a generation what makes brady to go is it the rings or is this something else what separates him from everybody else who's done it you know um surmises achieve and i just five minutes great cheaters plasterwork its way into the show and i'm i'm still bitter about that myself because when i play from minnesota we broke the record for the most points scored in the history of the league sure and then they took a record down and then the cheating came out so that was kind of weird um but i dunno i just think that when you look at a player like uh tom brady he just is a uh he's just he's very determined i think that uh coaching makes a big difference and i thank the belgian echo they care that's it's like it's their life to me i watch him and his like every little detail about the game is just it's it's just scripted perfectly and people say they make these great adjustments i remember plan against coach bela checked when he was with the giants with the with the big tuna and icm over on the sidelines and when we would play the mayor it was like they ran a cover too deep zone and it was kind of been don't break defense and if you try to throw corner routes is not gonna work it seems like those are holes but that those are the the roused they take away so i had to learn a dump ball off dumped the ball often be patient the whole game but you can't get behind with their match the problem you get behind you can't make big plays and so that's their script and they play very well liked that i think with brady you know the.

"A tax reform bill jack callahan fox news republican congressional negotiators say they reach an it agreements a compromise between two different versions of the tax reform plan fox's doug mckelway reports it would reduce the corporate tax rate to twenty one percent at twenty one percent rate puts more revenue in the treasury so legislators in exchange could drop the top individual rate to thirty seven percent lower that either the set or house bills originally intended and that trade off solves a big problem lawmakers and high tax states like connecticut new york california and others have fear that cutting state and local deductions would increase taxes on their constituents so this fix presumably keeps gop lawmakers from those high tax states on board gop leaders hope to bring the compromise up for votes in both houses next week and if it passes both president trump says lower tax bills could be weeks away the irs this is just out this is breaking news has just confirmed that americans will see lower taxes and bigger paychex beginning in february democrats again criticising the process and urging gop leadership to hold off until newlyelected alabama senator dole jones could be sworn in one more still won't concede that he lost bed race on tuesday releasing it online video to supporters no longer this about republican or democrat control is krugman said there's not a diamonds worth of difference between them it's about a washington establishment which will not listen to the crowds have been sentenced apparent winner doug jones whose more atto listened to the voters has been tough it's been tough on him uh but at the same time it is trying it's time to move all the more campaign hoping that provisional ad military ballots which have yet to be counted would closed the margin to within the recount range a suicide bombers killed at least seventeen people at a police training center in mogadishu somalia police suspected islamic extremist fox news.
