"He's very thoughtful type of I when he's speaking to the press or more just to anybody really like the warm fuzzy. No uh we'll talk We'll hear from graham motion mid morning as well. and graham the most high profile horsemen to come out of the tutelage of jonathan sheppard And there'll be more and we'll hear from jonathan. I i i kind of wanted to have Some some observations From from others Before we we get a career retrospective From john and and as he as he is quoted In a couple of places you know he's not gonna completely Like jones yesterday keep keep keep is available to to do some cameos and some some race calling maybe by appointment so people in this. It's pretty tough to just walk away from this from this game. Nobody really completely walks away. the while we've got bill gallo bill we it was such a A torturous the year for the chase community and the racetrax were able to get going and have some momentum I it it was much more difficult process for the chase community You know talk about the now that the dust is settled. Talk a little bit about you know last year and what the you know the first half of this year Looks to to do to know kinda get going into the feels like you're going to have to tread water a little bit longer. Well very well described. It's last is pretty bleak. We lost seventy percent of our season really comes. Thank god for ira. Thank god for martin fans because We we we did have nine races up in saratoga which was critically important to us because you gave some sense of hope and But we lost a pretty much our entire sprang we salvage two of the meats middleburg races in virginia goal couple running and actually in june which is major shifts and then we salvaged six of about half of the meets To to a certain degree we had a trim purses like like everybody else but anyway long story short we we. We suffered their early last year. But there is some hope and there's a lot of hope. Actually this is a light at the end of the tunnel. But we're gonna have to. We got gotta get through this spring. Obviously and hopefully by summer things would be normal or back to normal as close to normal as possible. But we're gonna right now we've got typically we've got sixteen race meets on the spring schedule. I just got a phone call this morning. Seven o'clock that the are opening day aitken spring on march twenty. They met last night and they cannot run No they they canceled this morning which pushes our start date to april ten And some from april ten On we're going gonna see if we can put together a schedule. I think we can mitt not obviously not sixteen race meets but if we can get a dozen or fourteen of those to go that would be wonderful The carolina cup Typically in the second week of the season and they made an early decision about a month ago to move later on our calendar. And they're gonna run. Saturday may twenty nine. Which would close out I'm i'm sorry. Saturday may twenty second. Which would be the second last weekend string. So that was a strategic. Move on their part So aching his out camden his move. And we're gonna start. Our season fences try on north carolina on april ten. So that's what we're hopeful for its And then if we can get to the summer and you know i know colonial planning on running you know they. They have made a commitment to us for a couple of races each week. And it's a seven week stint. So we're we certainly would look forward to that and and Hopefully narrow have a stack for our typical nine race program toga. We normally run a couple of stakes races at belmont in the fall so we we can get back normal that way. I feel really confident that we can turn it over in the in the fall in with the pandemic totally behind us in the vaccine distributed and people feeling healthy and anxious to get outside again We hopefully run our full slate in the fall which is of course highlighted by the fargo races and that Third week in october. Which is our championship day but It's it's gonna take a while You know in reality of you. No one will be back to normal Twenty twenty two probably but I think we're going to have a decent season and i think our spirit of horsemen is incredible. If you think what. They went through last year and our race meet directors those that did run and and took a financial hit just for by running They did it for the worst minute to give them an opportunity to run. They gave him an opportunity to keep their helping employed. And things like that so it was. It's been difficult but it was particularly difficult for us because we're so dependent on attendance and sponsorship and those without having people on the grounds. Obviously you have no attendance in there for your sponsorship opportunities to wendell so very challenging but where we're not gonna quit and steeplechasing isn't going anywhere. The national steeplechase sociation isn't going. We've been around a long time but a beer around probably a long time. We've got very very dedicated. Horseman owners trainers writers. Well and you mentioned far hills and and of course really. I tried a couple of times to connect with guy towards the airy and all the work that had gone into planning for what what was scheduled to be the one hundredth meeting At far hills. And you know it'll it'll still be the hundred meeting but It it does feel like You know by the time we summer and certainly fall conditions will the such. Hopefully that you know that he gets to execute this. You put in so much effort with the idea of you know culminating in that that hundred meeting and i think i you know of of all not that not that every other you know meet and every other venue that had to either amend or cancel postpone etc. Know feel bad for everybody but it it really for far hills last year. it just really felt like Rug being pulled out from under it was a dagger. They had enormous plan a million dollars in purses for for one day. That's our chance it was meant to be a championship. Dane guy wanted to make it meaningful And and that was. That was a devastating blow. I will tell you at rock mate for sure But they're you know far hills once again. They've been around a long time and they've done incredible job of growing that event and making it an annual event that just the local community embraces the sponsorship.

"Trainers ended. Elliot all janet. Janet elliott came up in the shepherd. Sable of course. Grandma's motion make sure yes grand motion about lateran weight. He carries because some of the contentious times. We're scared one hundred and seventy six pounds in one hundred seventy six pounds. I think i put the weights. And that was back in the mid eighty. I mean he was a four time eclipse champion for years in a row. I can't remember what year that was probably year three. Or maybe even four but carry one hundred seventy six pounds and won the race and then was entered back in a couple of weeks later. And dumping another andy capp and we've bumped into seventy eight. He didn't run with the seventy aged shepherd under scratching them but it was Oh god. I was horrified watching the race. When he won carrying high in seventy six suspect wrote them and when he hit it was a place go radnor pennsylvania and when he hit the wire fish back not too many strides past the wire. Pittsburgh jumped off the horse literally Which was he pulled him up immediately jumped him jumped off and gets to get the weight off. Which i thought was pretty interesting. But anyway yeah now sheppard He he had some great great jumpers battery. Of course the whole thing cafe princeton hall of fame. Those are i. Think those two jumpers and the whole thing and then but You just you go on and on could you could write Into wrote a long piece about him you could write a book about him for sure. And as i'm looking at this at these other You know jump winners. Here's one that if we reached out to rosemary home-ice meister junior She would she would certainly appreciate. She ended up on cloudy tonight. When jonathan got him from frank kirby and you had that that really good year and a half or so Including those winds at I can't remember if he won two in a row at kentucky downs but he had a really nice sequence of mile and a half turf. tries that That rosemary was was tied on and it was very cool. Success story that the kind of came out of left field. Yeah yeah he was. A shepherd gave a lot of people in opportunities. You know much. Like allen jerkins a champion for the little guy always wanted to help the either the young rider league yesterday i read. He said it's we liked about the national steeplechasers. Were really sport. It's much more of a sport than than flat racing. But which was a. I think that's his interpretation. Because he got he he he likes the social part of it Not was a real social kind of guy but he You know the steeplechase communities that tight knit community and you go to the races in. It's it's more relaxed to racetrack things like that. So i i think that appeals to him over the years for sure and that says why he was it was he was everywhere he just showed up in the most remote place he he showed up and he drove deep he drove. I don't know how many thousands of miles he drove but he drove everywhere. A lot of miles on cars probably broke a lot of cars down but anyway What what a train. And it's you know this is a celebration. It's a happy thing because You know he certainly deserves a. I love the fact that they won championship last year. And it can goes out. Goes out on such a high note. As i think about what he's done with carrie who's gonna probably launch her own training career now But certainly i think she worked for him. I think she's worked about a decade ten years or so and she's she did a remarkable job in his in his physical absence last year. Well i i the the career And you talk about the dedication and how driven obviously He was i mean and the warm warm and cuddly. he's not and he wasn't ever and from that standpoint You know he he was. You don't amass a career like this without you know without You know some. I would i. I think it's fair to say Bill that you know it comes in in some cases at at at the cost of of some personal. The personal life expense. I mean he he was really driven. I i there's you can't do you think about people like lucas and van burg. Don't have this kind of success without being consumed by you know by the work. Yeah no i agree. It was absolutely driven in But he was also may not you know he's he's he's still around. He warm and cuddly. Yeah i wouldn't describe him. Would say was always very approachable. You'd have any turf writers. Anybody liked very very approachable. If you had a question for you could walk right into his tack room and you may not get the the warm and friendly fuzzy look might get grimace buddy. He was always always very approachable. I one of the things i learned from him. You know thinking about that. Myself i was. I always wanted to be very prepared when i was talking to. Jonathan sheppard Because i knew how stupid he was. And i i i always made it a point professionally to be as prepared as i possibly could when i spoke with them But you'd be amazed how. I would watch him even at the barn at saratoga I would watch when members of the press would come by and Whether it was a positive store negative story. He was always always very approachable. And he was extremely or he is extremely articulate. he's wonderful public speaker is He just he puts his words together. Beautifully and thoughtfully..

"Was and what a presence he hadn't a game is the only person that mr hubbard even knew people chasing but I always remember that stereotype. I hadn't thought of that surgery longtime until we just want this conversation. A great story i i. Also i'm sure these conversations we'll see what graham graham was around for her flatter and i'm anxious to hear from you know the training side and the kinds of things that That graham picked up from the from the you think about when you look at any of the horses And some of the writers that are tied to and you know some of the most successful opportunities that they had in their careers. And i think daniel hodson certainly and Sure if you went through. Can i'm sure if you went through the the litany and you'd pick out you know certain eras and jump. Jocks have windows of opportunity in until they either until they either get either too big or or they fall one too many times and say that's enough You know Life miller right play blyth miller road. "Thoroughbred some people within the industry. Don't even realize that our horses thoroughbreds that jump fences and Shepherd clearly Bridge that gap and he proved that you know a a trainer can can accomplish great things both on the plot and augur jumps and even though he started out in the jump game he segue to crossan and kept going back and forth. So you know. The the level of expertise in an level of achievement is is unbelievable when you think of it. That way. Tom watson's the only other name i can think of kind of crossed over a little bit and and did both successfully. But you just said it. They think they were doing it at the same time. But you know. His career was wonderful but Pales in comparison shopper in his. It's funny until i read Don clippers peace. Didn't i really didn't know his his origin story in terms of coming over and why it was that that his career couldn't start in in the uk. Ironically his father was a handicapper and It was a conflict of interest in that Prohibited him from taking out a license. And that's that's why. I came over then mid sixties That's a you know an interesting an interesting development because it basically put them in a whole different direction. he's i think he was in finance it. I mean well. Katie went to eat eaten. I believe Very well educated man and had aspirations of of the business world but that didn't suit him he had a love appreciation of the horse. And and one thing led to another but it was his father's position in england that Forced him to come to america to launch a career and training. You worked for berlin cox. Work for roy cox cox trained a lot of people like billy turner and people like that and so but he did work for. Burleigh learned a lot from burley. Obviously you know went on out on his own a relatively young age. I mean fifty some odd years. Incredible it really is I can't think of anybody in any other sport that you can sort of measure up to his his consecutive streak of winning races. You've talked about it many times on the show winning sure consecutively in saratoga. For that period of time. I think it was forty. Some odd forty seven years or something seven forty seven years would win it with a win in saratoga. I mean that's no one will ever do that again. Now so there's a lot of things done that you know people will just will not be able to get done but I think the streak in saratoga is is is one of the most remarkable streaks and Anything including baseball joe. Dimaggio the individual horses. We've we've certainly talked about horses like flatter and you know the any number of the the jump champions. I mentioned you know the conversations that we had during the run of forever together. An informed decision But there's other aspects to the the little sidebar about storm cat and and when storm cat died jonathan. You know very big show. That storm cat passed away and His his involvement not just training storm cat but then and this is in a clip injures piece to the fact that That his wife urged mr young to you know to keep him at overbrook and and because they were ready to try to sell them syndicate them somewhere and it ended up being a a a fateful decision and a very important decision absolutely. Yeah no. I remember vividly. The storm kept. I mean he trained him a two year old It was The right i read that yesterday clip interest piece about kathy shepherd. Encourage you mr young. Keep them there and Obviously his career was remarkable to say the least that short shepherd had had a share in the horse. So you know it's it certainly A few bill. That's for sure over the years. Now the you know the number of the names you know for those Virtually anybody i. I suppose has whatever era you were introduced to the game There there's a. There's a shepherd horse for you. You know going back like you said to the seventies and Then you look at look at some some of the names the some you forget about the nine pins and mixed up been had he had a bunch of great horses. Story just came to my mind. I got a call one day. This is back in right around. Nineteen ninety ninety seven or early nineties. But i got. I got a call from mr hubbard ordeal hubbard. Come forward and really know mr hubbard. I knew of them. Obviously but i got this impromptu. Call for mr hubbard. And he said he was in queens. He said this is steeplechase office. Yeah and he said He says i got a horse. I gotta turf force and I you know somebody told me. I said jump them. I don't know anything about this. People shake thing so can you If i was to go to a trainer in what is it. you know. There's only one name. I know he said this guy shepherd and this is a sexist. This conversation actually happened. I was. I was sitting in my office in maryland where i'm sitting right now back and you've you've you've touched upon the the key name there but if you turk force wants to go along and you're inches people chasing jonathan chase. Can you give me that. Guy's number and i did in the horse was laying. Bread called. michiko was a multiple stakes winners over jumps. A very nice horse. We run out of flag conditions. And sure enough. Obviously he he called sheppard and sheppard got horse and turn them into a stakes worse. But you know once again a small world straight of how how powerful the guy's name was and what a presence he hadn't a game is the only person that mr hubbard even knew people chasing but I always remember that stereotype..

"Literally consent. Six or seven or eight horses down to a small place in tryon north carolina and Back in the days. Sweep the card as well but still His presence and his name is extremely meaning meaningful to the national steeplechase association. How how valuable Kind of a two part question. How valuable is. It was it to have shepherd who you know for an extended period was able to straddle the flat portion of you know with the steeplechase Voices and campaigning And had there really been anybody previously that that was simultaneously. Tom voss to an extent. But i mean how. Many historically how many crossover horsemen had this level of success. No no one prior to shepherd not that kind of success train. Creators cup champions each eclipse champions on the flat. But it's a very important part. Because that's what we you and i had this discussion many times. But you know. There's a common misconception that the steeplechase horses not even a thoroughbred some people within the industry. Don't even realize that our horses thoroughbreds that jump fences and Shepherd clearly Bridge that gap and.

"And right on the front page ya thirty first annual stallion season and online and then There's the silent auction goes a little bit longer. Silent auction goes from wednesday. Till next tuesday for and there's all kinds of halters there's certain goods and services and so forth bill gallo standing by and of course yesterday. The news circulated we just started the show and one of the news and notes. That i had from the two weeks away was the race limerick baltimore bucko the shepherd string and ireland and that's where the horses under jonathan's name will compete going forward his fifty plus year career in north america Coming to a close bell gallo. Good morning happy new year. Happy new year to use the good to talk to you bell. They this there'd been some rumors and rumblings about this and in a jonathan career is i. it's difficult to quantify. I mean the champions and the success of on the flat and over the jumps. Yeah it's It's a remarkable career. You know. I've known him for a long time. Since nineteen seventy seven forty some odd years I watched his this career just skyrocketing to such a dominant place and he literally will rule the roost for years and years and until the last decade. Or so you know jack fischer kind of leapfrogged from there But pretty remarkable that you know. Jonathan came back and won that title last year. Even though those an abbreviated year but was great for him great for stable. He didn't have a presence throughout the year He left everything in the hands of his assistant. Carry on But he had He was on the phone every day. Training on the phone from florida But just remarkable career. It's almost inexplicable. Mind boggling But you know jack fischer got a big mountain. Climb not not that he couldn't achieve which did but it's It's going to be a. It'll take them a while. That's for sure but a wonderful train or wonderful guy. Very bright guy incredible. What at his craft incredibly important to not only the national steeplechase association but just people chasing in general what he did rossi kind of really. He's the most recognizable name recognizable figuring our game certainly throughout my career The last year but Great man I'm sure you'll get some great tributes about him today but with a variety of people either have on. But i'm just pleased to know. I learned a lot from him Work he was actually the president of an essay. Pull off for three years period and towards the latter part of his career and So i work closely their work with him as a pretty good working relationship over the years. was wasn't always the friendliest as as a handicapper He had obviously the best sources. And some of those horses got pretty high up ladder. You know reached incredible levels in the handicapped division. So there were times we got kind of a contentious relationship about handicapped weights and things like that but it was it was. It was a great run for him. I believe he's just ready. Eighty years old. He never seen very old to make just was always sharp. Credibly mentally sharp and Is one of the things. I always sticks out. In my mind. He was he was everywhere he just showed up at the most remote places and he was. It was an extraordinary commitment that he had to not only his own stable put to the scored itself. He really loves to support. The smaller race meets some of the smaller race meets on our circuit You know he could. He could fill a card.

Yeah there's different kinds of pressures that are involved here and obviously a little more acute for for people that run over an extended calendar time You know like harness and thoroughbred racing and the chase Meet meet but still it's really everybody's everybody's face this Stoically and and a lot of men certainly aerobically Widespread basis while bell. I don't suppose adding you know adding some more flat chasing Over the summer. Monmouth the or you know or or more at colonial Saratoga. To kind of offset things Would that would that be an option at all? Or what for for for for making up for making up? Some of that lost some of that loss schedule. The from the you know colonial is a great opportunity for that. They've offered us to races if they can run. They've offered to rate to jump races every Monday. I believe they're going to shift not sure about this but it's to two races a week but under that scenario there would be six six Steeplechase days Whatever the day is. Let's let's assume it's a Monday every Monday would be the first two races of the card And that's a great opportunity because we maidens there we went are claiming type forces the ratings sources rate a great rating sources which fit nicely because it's run concurrently with Saratoga. "Addressed this her. We've addressed it a couple of times at least touched on it with shock and I I thought there was some really provocative elements to what was what was discussed and Hong Kong always gets it brought out into these discussions NOPD. That model can be freely adopted in North America. But there is. There is one element that keeps coming up. And that's the centralized buying and the apothecary on-track apothecary and chuck is running that Gulfstream. Buying Group The the Co op essentially so he is in a unique position. You know it's been just I don't know six months but it'll be on the phone case unless you know what I'll check with. Maybe maybe he wants to come over. But I I've seen a bunch of responses to this and Ross's piece and things are logical and possible but in some cases the how do we fix it? Question is just. It's responses are just pie in the sky and not all that practical there. There are some practical solutions to as you would think so. We'll let chuck riff on that. Which is always which is always entertaining and enlightening Andy. Serwer our three looking forward to. "Nothing to complain about where we're healthy so Much everybody good health as well. We're muddling through it like everybody else. What what has already. Obviously you've been delayed or table cancelled fully or rescheduled. Give everybody a glance at the calendar. Usually at this time that start down in the south and working up the coast. what What's the status of everything normally? Would we started off season last Saturday at making South Carolina? So we've had several cancellations. We have a total of sixteen race meets in the spring ten of those have been cancelled. we do have a tentative and I stress the word tentative that nothing etched in stone but we have sixty that We hope to Execute Later in the spring actually more towards the summer We're planning a kick off on May thirtieth at Middleburg all of the race. All six of the remaining meets intended to run a hoping to run Had to change date So we instead of starting last Saturday Middleburg would be I on schedule on Saturday. May Thirty and we we've run five consecutive weeks five consecutive Saturdays and one Smaller meet on Sunday in the middle there but That's the game plan right now. Start up on. Saturday may thirty if we can And then Gene six hoping to run their whole races We're looking for home for them right now. possibly at you want down. Not that's not certain either Way were originally can take the pair. He'll races to Laurel but This this months again. There's a lot of uncertainty there So we're GONNA to try and salvage this fair hill races and Mendon somewhere The fair race course. Our home of national steeplechase headquarters is Has just been rebuilt and is not ready and we'll be ready. Surface won't be ready until next spring But then follow that up with the Fox field races on June thirteen The Virginia Gold Cup one of our major meets on on Saturday June twenty and then we conclude the season spring season on Saturday. June twenty seven in Nashville New York where people say that Sir Sprint Championship Day. So it's It's obviously a trim schedule and we have high hopes and trying to execute it but It's nothing for certain Fisher is. You're obviously in contact with plenty of Of the owners and board members and horsemen and so forth Everybody sort of training lightly or training along and you know with the hopes and expectation of getting started soon enough that and that was the purpose I send out a memo yesterday to the horsemen and it was basically specifically to them to give us some hope to tell that we. We've been thinking about this. We've been talking to the individual race meets. We know that there are.

"Alex congratulations thank you we'll go at every moment of it you know that what a perfect lead in because to enjoy I mean you obviously enjoy winning more than more than not winning but you you you guys are are so toward the race day and the race game we're very good actors I love it I love it it is a great game and we we thoroughly enjoy and to be around and you know always I'm not around the backside at some or with all the other people for Mehta's either involved in game you're missing an awfully big part of it there's no doubt a- and you know you the operating in in a lot of different capacities too because of course the Arkansas Racing Commission you've volunteering time towards that and I do want to talk to you about some of the the administration portions of of you know your involvement but let's let's talk about the stuff I and and this philly the thing that struck me immediately is that you know this is and to my memory Alex one of the one of the best early horses that that you guys have had I mean we're certainly used to you know what when with telling and and the big beasts that embellish the lace whose biggest wins came you know at three and and beyond this is early this is a win early horse for you it is early yeah always we've been a little bit you know maybe to patient but you know that's in one one comes out early and pokes his head out then you need to go on but I've always said unless they tell you they go don't worry about it on on our count you know so it's just She sat at early on that she was ready and and I have to give a big thanks to Robbie hairs because he's one of the sale and I've known Robbie along damage broke a lot of horses for me and he said I've you have you seen this such and such over titled Might but now and he said Y'all let's take a look and say after I look at it didn't take long to look at it you know to to like her and she has just progressed and a lot of them you know they'll progress around and back up a little bit and and then get going again but she just you know kept putting one foot in front of the other so once they said hey he's 'cause I wasn't I don't push for him to be ready at Saratoga but he yeah this one's ready for Saratoga and I said Okay and one wants somebody like ask and Robbie through the Horse's training to you know they're doing what in fact when Robbie came to me he said I found another valid ways and that's about and he did break embellish way so that got my that really got mantra stuff ooh wow this this win the the winner for Zet obviously you know does a lot toward recovering the half a million dollar per just price as a yearling makes her instantly valuable down the road but there's some big things that had we'll we'll talk about what's coming not but I do want to I do want you to flesh out the philosophy that you enjoy in have in terms of stock acquisition and and development and also how it's changed over the years well we've gotten a little bit smarter just trial and error out game and it's taken a long time you know we come from a little bit of a quarter horse background thoroughbred there's some there's some references there and I got tickled about the there's a lot of different somebody's watch you want all games last night made the comment about they were talking about some of the Trades that the Washington senators have made over here and they brought this up and said Yeah he's been twenty shutouts in five days and I thought yeah that's doc thoroughbred they used to you know can you imagine someone three-shot apps and five days now it's it's a point is you know not not like what we're going to or at the same way but I mean how many times I'm hoping after last remember when people actually played it's anti fence doubleheaders you know so things that they've changed for those sports and ours doubt how did you and I and I didn't I didn't realize that you you put in time with the quarters and talk about the a regional regional aspect to come in from Arkansas and and you know what when did I get involved with any kind of equine sports oh we would probably you know in junior high school or somewhere in there and that's when the Rodeo aspects starts here and then you get into high school joe and semi professional Rodeos I guess you're you're playing for money but I mean it's it's usually kind of a weekend circuits of speaking you know back then I always remember last year or Scott Longtime and they were on barrels off any run pose and then rope and bulldog all the same horse the same night and then I I that of course you could run twenty six the cavs often and we'd go home and we'd kick him out in the pasture we look at other nouns that we mistreat their horses that much because you know you just been thinking about it with Er fit and you look at them wrong and they kind of go backwards on you but it's it's it's just but again it's the same way human athlete I think in a lot lighter note saying same time for it the on the purchase and and the building of building a string what did you what did you do when you first got involved and what how has that changed with yearling purchase verses two year old and training and because you've dabbled in a couple of areas yeah I've Al- I've probably gotten more involved in the actual footwork and going and looking at horses android that part of it just about as much as I do other icing divorces and now that we've got the Big East is a lot of fun to watch some of his offspring one and you can't get this the same nervous sweaty hands watching offspring his man for somebody else to do with them I never thought I would get that that much pleasure out of it that's that's one new angle for us but I think more than anything I think going through the sales and it was like Robbie this horse when the FM big beast it was found his brother I somebody had said hey there's a horse needs to look at it this farm so when I was on my way up there and on another horse caught my eye on the way up their mascot look at this or and it was the big Bass half-brother Horse we later count Big Lou and he was he was a fairly decent horse but he got hurt in south West but that's what led me to the big beast and so you know like I say I'm crazy on hutches anything well and when it came to a supporting the big beast when the horses started to come to market and act I can think about when I saw you at the must've been the April sale at O. B. S. or the Marcher must have been April and you were you were shopping the big babies and how many did you end up getting involved with I think only about two or three not being a serial offender like hand sometimes it's they've both been you know not disappointed me yet one has one has has made me happier than the other but then neither neither one disappointed me and then we have some home breads and this year I think I probably got ten or eleven mayors info so I'd say it's just a whole new chapter in it and that with the with the other part of it well and the most recent the most recent was what the big affair the one that David Locke says down in Florida right big affair we've had big affair spring and somebody ran second they brassy East I think she got second out so they they've been somewhat the success for us and we're

"Curl has gone missing. LISTEN TO LISTEN TO ONE POWERFUL SAM EH we're back at the races fifteen minutes to do on this Wednesday and that means we're about an hour and five minutes away way actually take that back because I keep forgetting that the cards are during the week days are starting at three o'clock so you've got tall plenty of time. You got three hours in fact you could. I can even drive down to be there in time. Maybe for the anthem in Today for the Lonesome Glory Tomorrow Bill Gallo Allo joins us from the National Steeplechase Association Good Morning Good Morning Steve and won the Belt Parkway bear with me boy well. Maybe you might you might not even be there for three o'clock through for the price at one and was joe clancy it. I love it there shortly well and so we can get opinions from both of you as to today and tomorrow today you got the William Seventy five thousand dollar hurdle and then tomorrow the lonesome glory the grade one and everybody was excited about the potential of the of the matchup that was shaping up today but unfortunately t doro cannot participate so scratched Doro is just nicked up the okay or what battle next up is going to miss the rest of the year though yeah I'm believable Wlob well because you had a unique situation where snap decision and Teodora were going to hook up and between the two of them they he had won by sixty links combined in their in their last starts and the made for unique matchup while instead. I suppose snap the decision is is going to be prohibitive favourite. He certainly should be for sure Joe and I were talking about and coming up and it it does change the as the nature of the race enduro would open up many lengths and and the rest of the day with Jason try and chase them down so this'll be much more subtle. Oh right so I try and maybe get a chore result so unfortunately he can't run but snap decision is going to be a as as you said it prohibitive favorite what do we do. Do we look to arch my boy. Maybe come out of the a good effort in the Kaiser who he ran well. All of you know he's a very good second three quarters is another horse in the race CO chief. Justice is a four year old that ran a terrific race. I don't know if a trip handicappers have seen replaced but we were talking about that earlier to he he got the length and a quarter in kersee wondering that the novice stakes stakes race city dreamer with the winter clothes on the outside came very late and just got up Winston see was the horse right in front of DOC chief. Justice will never went to say we'll see him again tomorrow so that was a huge effort by chief justice and I certainly wouldn't discount him interesting. I want to ask about a couple of horses and we'll get we'll get some clancy input in a second when we talk about city driver rebirth but Jack Fischer says out cracker factory first time North America gets Michael Mitchell and gets lasix and this is you know we're just by virtue of connections alone a Fisher and first time North America hasn't competed since Cheltenham. What do we know about cracker factor? He's been with Fisher cents to spring. obviously Fisher likes them. He says record speaks for itself. He's four for eight over jumps. At t seconds seconds. He won four races at three zero. That's unusual. That's how to win three zero the matter what country are so clearly he's got tim ability and some class and coming out of the Fisher Barn. These sources were specifically pointed for the fall campaign so he's GonNa. It'd be talks Mitchell's a good combination. He's one of our top riders. He's excellent in the stretch. He's a good finish rider. One of our better finish writers as you know they run run five eight mile from that last down the backside they just they don't jump those final two fences here at Gaumont so it's not necessarily a sprint but it is fairly flat flat rate for five as well and with that in mind. I'm GonNa ask you about the the big price on the near of charm for Richard Heard Hendrix and after three sort of difficult starts jumping and that goes back to the Fox brook at Fair Hill. We've got one start this year as well and then two races on the flat where you you get the sense that that Hendrix was trying to put some speed into a veneer of charm. This horse source got to kind of kind of an interesting look about him. You know I see your angle for sure the racist GonNa Sharpen Them Up. There's no question about that is is jumping not so good not survey jumping part but you know what he's done in America over fences since he got here last fall wasn't too impressive so he's going to have to combine those those two skills for sure it an eighty five figure in his last at Delaware. Eh won the race before that so yeah and the price certainly he gets Jack Doyle you know once again. jackdaws red hot right now they want some races colonial over the summer so many the combination of doyle and the flat rate you might be onto something ida price fifteen at one. He joked kitchen in here. The juvenile hurdle at Cheltenham. There's gotta be some quality source and I suppose mechanic wise over over the jumps anyway I I just I got a little. I got a little glance there joe a can we get an unbiased clancy view of river city dreamer. You have to call mom for that right new vineyard charm to me. He's he's interesting thing at a price. I don't know if he's good enough to win this race but I think that the charbon here door will coming out kinda makes the race who does not much face really isn't that position you might be in front or even here in front of the two days. city dreamers to me. He got he got a great trip in Nashville and you know no. I don't know if he's going to get that same trip here. I know the rates of our hills would be more target to get him crime for that. He ran well enough. Versed aren't art here last year in the same race. Take them there. He was fourth Kinda just didn't close. I think you know if he can run into it the way he did it Nashville. He's got a he's got had a chance. I just think there's a little bit you know. I don't like chasing favorites but I ended up with that position just because I think it sets up for him. He's got the most recent good platform. He's going to be tough to catch stretch for sure. Are you on today with saying the Yeah I was supposed to be the their original talking horses. This show is like now. Obviously I wasn't making that so I think I'm going to try to go on pre race but it gets a little confusing with their live show and some other stuff going on. I'm definitely on tomorrow while trying to get here in time to do eleven forty show New York traffic was not mark out. I I hear you. I've I've even come down down from upstate. I've missed. I've missed some races that we were participating in. let's Talk About Tomorrow the Lonesome Glory and this is our last grade one until we get to far hills in October and we're looking forward to it but Winston see all is here. Jonathan Sheppard a sweeping the SMETHWICK and turf writers. Can he be beaten. You ask Joe I'll start. I'll start with view and then joking chime. In of course he can be beaten. I think several horses actually a very good chance of certainly Scorpion Answer I mean I I'm a little biased. I put the weights on so I mean the weights are indicative of my opinion certainly but he insists assists. He's the now horse. He's the worst to be Ken Scorpion survey absolutely he's won that race. He wanted era corey coming back back this year Zentrum as Scotto. He's certainly convened him. No question about that Scott was at level weights with the third to to Scorpions or corey surprising so the Senate similarly level weights got the link now surprising prizing so is in life forty four has got us in forty eight so you can make a case those for sure I don't know how much further down I'd go for beating him reducing and ran extremely well at Saratoga graduated out out of the novice division goes into great great one pool. This is a tough pool to jump into for the first time all the way Jose is has been an added for years and you may have lost a step or two particularly with the you know the flat racing portion towards the end so I'd say that Scorpion Scotto clearly have the best chances of upsetting but he'll be the favorite John what's yeah. I'm kind of the same way I mean. Winston see both overrated. We know how good they were. I think he's he he obviously shown he can handle this sort of flat track more spe- oriented race. He's got to do it again with more wake up. You know more weight again. He he's carrying more than this than one in England so I don't think carrying the way the big deal I think some of these giving good horses wait. I mean given Moscato pounds. He's given surprising soul I mean. I think that you know that kind of weight. Ah Advantage to those horses has got to help them with God isn't very good. He could've won the Iroquois. SORTA got stopped at a really key point at the top of the stretch and kind of had to come canalside. Come running again. He easily could have won that race and it'd be a different story Scorpions I as good as he is. I feel like he's GonNa need one John and far hills there'll be the goal compared to this is going to be one of the Best I've put it that way and I think he's GonNa. He's taken on a proper horsing Winston. See who's shown. He handled this uh-huh stretch. I'm going to ask you about second time North America for Leslie Young with bedrock for Mr Naylor and how `bout black lack more coming across the pond to ride together a tipperary down royal they were successful going back to late last year and I think Leslie Young is clever in here with bedrock yeah I I agree and he's certainly he ran better than it looks on paper in the Smith Looking Kinda ran up in there and cantor just flattened out the last part of it which is likely to do coming off a long layoff and then you know he didn't get a chance to run again in the writers and they decided to come straight here and bring Rachel blackmore over from from Ireland ride and you know he's. He's like you said that's a clever move. He's he's literally sneaky good from that side. I Still WanNa see I think he's probably more so far worse than a flat track kind of horse just physically physically looking at them and then looking at his former well speaking of far hills October nineteenth and you will be able to bet and you'll it'd be able to bet with both fists and looking forward to it and of course once we get through tomorrow we return to the fall season all aunt meets the twenty eighth and twenty ninth downs in Maryland Fox field in Charlottesville then out to genesee Oh October twelfth and Middleburg Burg as well on the twelfth then far hills and then back down in Virginia and the season starts to wind down but but a great one tomorrow a very good intimate today even without Teodoro and the added added Joe clancy goodness this today to go with Palo happy to help. How do you beat that and and I suppose I suppose Sean in the trunk WH- where's where's where's Szanto today at the track for lunch figures it fit yes well?.

"Travel season in late then packing boxes had next season. We're back at the racist twenty minutes into our one. I started to tell you as we were heading for the break and of course it's Thursday so we'll talk to Hoskin we'll do three year old recapping of Haskell and we'll look to the Jim Dandy curling with him and of course the Jim Dandy Jim Dandy actually ended up with six and there had been there had been a little bit of a let me see where is it <hes> there had been a little hint that maybe we were going to get a a bulkier bulkier field for the the Jim Dandy but everybody you know everybody important that had been rumored is involved so <hes> we'll we'll look at that with <hes> Haskins and of course the bowling green got drawn as well big bulky feel. I've I'll probably we use that for the VIC challenge because it's just too good of a race you know all the usual suspects that are in there. You Got <hes> you got you got you got just the full mutton all kinds of interesting savage joy who I think I kind of like going into Saturday anyway so we'll do plenty of that as the morning unfolds right now. HOW BILL GALLO JOINS US and coming out of yesterday's Kaiser which was already exciting and a great a great way to get the stakes schedule for the jump races often running and jumping and then today we come back with the first grade one of two on the summer and the Patti Smith with just comes up spectacularly bill good morning warning food talk about bulky? Okay grow horses jumping a grade one at that. I'm looking forward to today well yesterday. You know we talked to Sean clancy and covered a lot of ground with John and he said he cannot remember the the last time he saw an an also eligible list for one of these well not not only that the horse portrayed is actually here she they Elizabeth Ross sent all three horses up just in case Jason late scratch <hes> unfortunately for her. There isn't a late scratch so we're trade will sit out today and come back for the turf writers but <hes> speaks well for worse inventory right now particularly at the higher level. You know the the one unfortunate part is optimus prime news the highway off the nominations and <hes> he was injured last work before this race has been looking forward to this race. He's he's top rated towards the country at the moment <hes> but he's on the shelf shelf for the rest of the year with that with his exit <hes> that literally opus go wide. It's a wide open race. <hes> the great petting opportunity for sure for those that like that on the jumper as it's a way you can make a case for any number. That's not everywhere in the field and I've never seen anything like it well. We'll we'll do that and <hes> we're GONNA look at at the group. <hes> I want you to I <hes> recap a a little bit of the Kaiser yesterday and <hes> give us a feel for what the discussion was because here's a first North America redemption and Sean had clancy had a couple of reservations <hes> there were some things to recommend. I and there were some things to maybe hold you back and just always delighted when Leslie Young succeeds and tell us about owner Sharon.
