"Even though i was involved in a comment a dominant pretty much. A man's world. What about your three daughters today. Sue like two of them. Married athletes professional athletes in the third. One didn't marry a professional athlete. He she she's married elizabeth in denver and he runs a park out there and forestry and and he's a four star force forced guy. She's doing great so that there ivan so blessed to have you know three sound laws that are just. They're they're different to our athletes. One plays play the still plan today. Japan that's ryan. Kelly marriage my youngest star lindsay and then kevin west garth when a cup with the kings and now he's working in the front office in the nhl. Athletics been a big part of everything that we've done and then i go run mary. My my wife lead out musician. So she's drive more balance again ballots little bit of musical elements family as well you to son-in-law's in sports. Come to you for advice in questions. No i give a lot of advice. You would hope that they would listen. Yeah they do they listen so but we do know we talk. And it's you know. I think the best thing about one thing about sports. I think the one thing about the three girls all being in sports the great the great partners for particularly for their Their husbands and because andrew stand the pressures are involved with professional sports understand. The ebon flowed takes place in terms of a season terms of what you have to do for season. Two offseason senators always in grew up in that they understood their off season and during the season. So do it. During the season we kind of loosen up obscene real back in so the. That's the kind of things that i think having someone who's a great partner a great friend obviously have been your spouse. It really helps personally feel comfortable enough. That they're what they're doing. They can be all involved in it but it also seems to me that the one thing that you took away all the pieces of advice to you got it. Was your father that you with three different pieces of wisdom that impacted your life and one of those was never quit because that gives you the perseverance that you need another was work harder than the next guy when you're working when no one's watching and the third one was never let anybody or anyone intimidate you. Do you think about those three things. Those three lessons that your father imparted to you. And how do they impact your life today and and they have always happened. I will always remember. You know the work hard part was a talk about it in a book a little bit that you know when i was i was getting ready to go out and go down to go to the pool and play. And he's telling me what you janis. Probably over there lifting. I go with dell lift like it back. That's that's fine you don't have to. I said no. I will like us. You know he'll probably be he'll be running while you're lifted so they'll probably you'll get to work outside but it's fine. It'll be fine for you. I'm gonna. I'm gonna pull so i. I don did steps. I go to block ago. I walked back. I can't. I can't let him get to work. I go i'm gonna lift. And he goes. Whatever i said so i went into lift. I go both pull efan congo like us so so you know he kinda gets gotten he knew he knew how to say the right thing and he was great with numbers at. That's one thing. I never thought about like. He was an accountant and he always had the number two pencils so meticulously on his desk. And i said you know numbers. And i was very good with numbers. I love math leslie. How of anything that you can do for coaching and being a teacher and math i always end ability to understand how much how much clock run if i take it down to three seconds. We run the ball. Three times can run off a minute. Forty five seconds and so a lot of the ability. I had to close games out. Which i'm very proud of that. Fact is by billy to look at the clock in the third quarter and realized how many series are left and that if we had a league time was our our ally is so i would shut down the passing game because i realized there's only so much time left can use up this much time and take away an extra possession for them in. We got the game one. Wow wow so you. Dad always taught you the things that mattered and influence you later on right now. Did you almost write this book. Ten years ago a version of this almost combating was it. Also with mike hollywood. How did that work. I have written a book ten years ago. Two thousand ten and it with another writer but he came back with it. I just couldn't go through with it. It was all football. And and it was just i was looking i thought about. I wrote this book and wrong of fall. Two thousand ten two thousand ten is not was not a great year. I just lost my father. I just lost my wife. I just moved to new york. And so i said you don't read a book in case i forget you know stories but then as i read it i go in all. This isn't just because i wasn't just about football. If i'm writing a book adjustment football it really doesn't reflect to. I am as a purse. And i said you know i. I need to be in a better place. So i took. The book bought the rights in the book. And i still have that book today and never went to publish. Never got the print at all. I got the first version back at his side. Can't book and it was because it was there was this football stores. And i said you know this. That's just not who i am and and so i am ten years ten years later. You know and i'm married again. I've been. I've been a tv for ten years. I sit here and all of a sudden you know. I thought i walked away from hall of fame career new at the time that i finally different short data forty nine step down. Do a good football team. That's gonna win more but family was more important to main all said here. I am on at saturday night january. I'm i'm getting a david baker's. Tell me i'm in the hall of fame and it just. It just was such an amazing time almost like not that. I needed validation my football career but just seemed like a nest commission point on it and also the pandemic it just seemed like you know what the pandemic made us all start thinking about things right off became very reflective during that time did we live a privileged life social justice issues coming up at that. Wow what a great time to intermix family football and a lessons learned what wends lights journey right and so in just like man. There's so many things i can offer i. I didn't make the right choice a lot of time. I got to the fork in a road. I may some decision. Certified this memoir help somebody else. Who's going down at saint patrick.

"Welcome back for another episode of the adam schefter podcast and on this week's episode we will be joined by the former head. Coach of the pittsburgh steelers the current. Cbs analyst a two thousand twenty pro. Football hall of fame. Inducted will be inducted in the ceremony this summer due to the pandemic last summer and the author of heart and steel along with the writer. Michael holly bill cower. Mr chin himself will join us and share some insights about his life and what he has planned for his hall of fame speech later this summer and for those who are wondering on last week's episode i urge you to go back and listen to it. We had on greg olsen who is retiring from the nfl who is joining fox as their number two analyst working with kevin burkhardt this summer and he told the story of his eight-year-old son tj. Who got a heart transplant. Early in june and there are many podcasts. We've done we're. I've heard from so many people in fact one person a friend of mine out in colorado hosted radio show. Lou from littleton aka. Tom newgen texted me. This just finished. Podcasts fantastic the first thing i thought of was god doesn't give you more than you can handle greg. Olsen was the perfect person to handle the situation with his son. What a great guy. The other text. I got was from the senior vice president of production and talent development at fox sports a man that had a huge role in hiring greg olsen and unsolicited. He sent me a text that said it got a little dusty in my car on the drive home. Wow powerful stuff so awesome that he's so open about it. I thanked him for the texan. He wrote back. He didn't tell you the story of the rehearsal game. He did about four years ago for us when he was in la. I paired him up with kevin burkhardt. Then because kevin lose in la. But i had no idea that they knew each other and had that history it was. Maybe the best rehearsal audition i have ever seen. He's a complete natural. And anybody. Who heard greg olsen on the podcast. Last week would understand that and know how charismatic. How thoughtful how great the guy is. So if you haven't had a chance to listen to greg olsen last week. I recommend you going back to listen to that the next couple of weeks. We're going to take a little summer break. We rarely do that. But i think that the football world can do without us for a couple of weeks here and when we get back the question will be. How many if any franchise players will get term deals done by the july fifteenth deadline. Those players eligible for long-term deals include the buccaneers wide receiver. Chris godwin the bears wide receiver allen robinson the jaguars offensive tackle cam. Robinson the jets safety. Marcus maye and the saints safety marcus. Williams all will be eligible to sign long-term deals and have to get it done by july fifteenth and once that franchise deadline day comes and goes that to me is when we start to gear back up to training camp. Which of course will lead us into the questions of whether our rogers shows up training camp. How'd texans decide to handle the shaw watching. Who is not expected to be there in one form or another. We just don't know how that will shake out whether he'll be put on commissioner's exempt list whether the team will issue him an excused absence whether he'll be disciplined with he'll be clear we don't know how that's going to turn out but once we get past the july fifteenth deadline for franchise players to sign long-term deals than the focus will shift to the quarterbacks and then once can't begins in late july the focus will shift to the pro football hall of fame and wants it shifts to the pro football hall of fame inductees. This year was selected last year. Is bill kaur who spent much of the pandemic working with the reporter. Michael holly to write his book hardened steel and bill was kind enough to give us some time and some tremendous insight into his life but before we get to build cower. Few things wanna tell you about i first off the. Nba playoffs are in full. Swing and who better to give you all the insider. Nba information than the wounds bound. Creator himself adrian wootton ascii host of the wounds..

A.'s top stories it's your cold open football home this Andy Reid is two wins away from being in shrines in canton that's the truth when you look at his numbers against bill Cowher's numbers Andy Reid has two hundred and seven the winds in his coaching career in the regular season two oh seven bill Cowher had one forty nine in the post season Andy Reid has gone to the playoffs more times than bill Cowher Hey Andy Reid has more double digit wins season then bill Cowher what bill Cowher has one thing over on the Superbowl when Hey Andy Reid is being too just as many championship games as bill Cowher but bill Cowher went to two super bowls and finally one one and he's only been to the one this is yet another championship game for Andy Reid look at some of his win loss totals in Philadelphia eleven and five eleven five twelve and four twelve at four thirteen and three those were all in a row in Kansas city eleven five twelve and four ten and six twelve and four twelve and for all in a row back to back AFC championship games something that the chiefs I have never been in in the Super Bowl era it's a remarkable career that reed has had but he needs the rain to finally get the respect he deserves ten for reed who dragged the Philadelphia Eagles to the NFC championship game all of those years in a row only to lose to the greatest show on turf to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they shut down the back to the Carolina Panthers to the Arizona Cardinals and now to a loss to the patriots last year and have a chance at home again back to back Errol had hosted a UFC title games he's got to get there he's got to get there to finally get the respect he deserves but that's we're AT read is that guy.

"Like I enjoy that is because I did very very much I've got a great admiration respect for bill Cowher and the reason for that aside from watching him from afar for number years as somebody gets to show up eight times the on the F. on CBS I know these guys I watch the way they work I watch the way they prepare I see the way the in Iraq I see the way they treat each other it's kind of cliche to say well we're a family they are a family CBS and I say this not because this is why point shot from I say this from my heart I've worked for all the big networks I work for a number of other organizations CBS is all class from the second you get there you know it's there for the second walk in that door you know it's different from the second they bring you win and you see all the welcomes that you get on social media from people who are already there you know it's different I never see anything like that so when bill was talking about all the people some people you know by name and some you didn't they work in production or behind the staff or behind the scenes I should say it's so sincere and so genuine so I was really eager to have that conversation and I'm very very happy for him and his family anybody close to him and reactions been very good Josh tweets the best part of the cow or interview with hearing how he prioritized responding to everyone individually class act that's what great men and leaders are made out of one for three C. one tweets great interview with bill Cowher can grasp the hall of Famer well deserved and there is a lot more of that as well in addition that we talked about the cheating scandal with Tom Verducci without leaves the red Sox where that leaves the Astros without leaves Major League Baseball without leaves the Dodgers without leaves claim Kershaw Trevor Bauer is having himself a day on social he is just I'm not I awaiting the Astros and he did call the shot long before it happened one eight hundred six three six eight six eight six I let me change of giving our topic and we'll go to the phones I mention the yesterday also was quite a day for the Carolina Panthers first you have the news that Joe Brady the star coop it's quarter now issue was going to join the pap there is as an office coordinator now if you're looking to hire the hottest off it's a minor football it does not get much hotter than the guy who just coach Joe borough to the greatest single season their college quarterback has ever had and then it doesn't get much fresher than announcing it less than twenty four hours after the confetti fell in New Orleans so that's a nother sharp move for David tapper first you get not rule one of the most respected coaches in college football and the chase that with Joe Brady one of the most stunning assistance in college football and a guy who has experience in the NFC south with the saints now it does me it's guaranteed to work out and that the Panthers are gonna start stacking trophies but it's a really good start and to be a very good hire and then on top of that came the next piece in news from Charlotte also a stoner but not in a good way I've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play this game since I was in fourth grade and I've been with the Panthers now for eight years and it's never the right time to step away but now is the right time for me and it's a tough decision I thought about it a lot and I think now is is is the right chance for me to to move on dad's look carefully in the Carolina Panthers linebacker is Rome recording video telling everybody that he's retiring so on the one hand I want to say it's shocking but then again it's not a seven time pro bowler member of seven all pro teams including five times as a first team all pro defensive rookie of the year defensive player of the year and he's retiring at the age of twenty eight the shocking part is not that he's retiring in twenty eight is that he's the only twenty eight it feels like you've been Carolina forever that's how quickly he became a dominant player practically from the moment he arrived and how much of a mainstay he was in Carolina and now he's leaving well before his thirtieth birthday and while he did not explain why he's leaving the speculation of course would be it's connected to his health and the impact the game takes on the body his body your body and your mind is specially when you play the game the way he played hard and fast he's had three known king cautions multiple shoulder surgeries and I'd be hard pressed to think of a more haunting image thing keep Klay sobbing in twenty sixteen as he was carted off the field that image is really scary and haunting whenever I've heard his name since then it was always one of the very first things I thought of if one of the kind of respect he has from his teammates and opponents check out the.

I wanted to tell you this is a team that doesn't have a lot of good players and once again they get out to a seven nothing lead right away and you're thinking maybe this. together orders of winning football well you know as a Buffalo Bills come storming back in the giants have major major problems and no it's not. manning. just about the quarterback position this defense is one of the three wars. and by the end of the year they might be the worst. this whole roster changes. a couple years but it's not going to work out for you this year another ugly performance by the giants we've got bill Cowher in studio with us from eight to nine so that's gonna be a lot of fun to talk to football and of course in baseball with a disappointing Sunday night results for the Max good morning for our you. and I I do once or the Mets because you know again. I mean come on guys is the you know the the top four guys in a line up had no hits last night and they basically got school by Dodger pitching it forever Rajai Davis who knows this could be for the Dodgers but you know it's it's disappointing.

"Available in all fifty states. California inspired golden road brewing fresh craft beer since twenty eleven. Yes. Pauling couple of things, Dan. Did you see the trophy ceremony after the Pro Bowl yesterday? Yes. I did any chance that Jason Witten pulled the trophy apart because there were two winners of the MVP. Here's hafer. You here's half for you. Because everyone was goofing on Whitten because the trophy came apart. I don't think he did it on purpose. He should've played it that should've. Yes, he should've. But this this wasn't a great year for Jason Witten. And that's how is his year ends. Yes, seton. What is it with trophies being kind? A cheap. They always looked so impressive. But then like remember when we got the the golden glove, and we were like really, this is a golden glove. You have a gold fence glove was supporting it's just like you take your mitt. And you take gold Spro. That's like, yeah. Karen can't arrest him. They do the whole batch of. Yeah. I thought it was actually made out of gold like it was something. Oh, yeah. And then they just took baseball's in spray painted them gold. It's one of the cheaper trophies that I've ever seen. Yes. Fritzy? Maybe it's a symbol that the Pro Bowl self is broken needs a lot of fixing or should be thrown in the garbage. Let's see what you did their two hand touch. We don't need to see that in the porn. Okay. Here's my suggestion for the Pro Bowl. First of all, I would get rid of it. And I link anybody would miss it. Second of all I would do a third place game. And I would offer the players some really good money. So let's say you had third place game played in Atlanta yesterday. And you had you know, Kansas City going to be playing in the game. And you would have the saints playing in the game. So let's say I give each player three hundred thousand dollars. I at least I'm playing for something that is worthwhile. Then the Pro Bowl, and your you know, the guys who are little deeper on the roster that could be half of their salary this entire season. Here's the other suggestion. I would have for the Pro Bowl how about all play in the Pro Bowl if you guarantee my contract because the NFL NFL doesn't guarantee contracts. Those guys are out there playing in the I felt bad for them that they're playing in the rain, and it was sad. You're kind of looking out and you're going. Why? Right. I mean, it just it's not a good presentation there. And then when they're tackling, Andrew luck. I mean, come on. They weren't even going. Yeah. When you like bringing when you're playing with your child in the they're like four, and then you kind of rough house with him. And then you lie him down. That's what they did. They were kind of putting down Andrew luck. It was aggressive hugging. That's what's going pillow under his head put them in on his pillow. I mean, it was just I was embarrassed. I I really was. Yes, we still the rating be like game for the World Series by double. I mean. It's this huge numbers. I'm telling you the ratings blow out others. Okay. But now we could make it even better. "We'll be some play action pass off of it. So you know, what you know? Don't get. It's okay. From a gift for a lot to stop here. No, no, Oh, no, no. no. It's not. So I'm just saying I'm flexible enough when one thing I have right now is I know I'm going to have a run run blitz. If I'm wait. I had a rumblings. I'm gonna break some safeties up there. Mark, barron. Played very well. And they've played the run very very well the dominant sue Aaron Donald these two guys inside of played as well as anybody in the postseason Aaron Donald is let's say he's a disruptive football player. So I'm a softer run. In the thing. I want to do is take away. And I thought that they did a very good job last week taken away. Michael Thomas, if you watch it they took as you're not going to be with Thomas. So they're going to do that a key to lead getting him back is you, and I think he's gonna take them away. And they got continue to play runaway. They played around last week against the saints. G you run at great players. Yeah. You do. So I'm going to run right at Donald ensue. I'm going to know where you are. Exactly. Well, you can't run out and vote I would run Aaron Donald I would make sure I have two guys that are very much in sync because he will split a double team and don't try to get them from backfield. He's too ethnic. Clinic. And so I think he's a very disruptive guy. So I cannot let him get into the backfield and be disruptive. He's also can be disruptive in the passing game. So you know, that's one thing that Aaron Tom Brady will be aware of where is Aaron. Okay. If I had an open draft no quarterbacks. You got first pick. Right now, Donald okay. I think I think he's the most disruptive player defensive player there is. And I say that for this reason because I think of the game has become a very quick throwing game. We used to talk about edge rushers before. But I think the inside rusher is quickest bought to a quarterback. And this guy is the most disruptive guy football. Well, the edge rusher. It is strange as it's going to sound can't get there quick enough. Whereas if you have somebody who can go because I think if you beat the patriots, I gotta have strong guys up the middle ravens. Did this the giants when they beat Bella check. And Brady, I gotta have that. I gotta start there. And if I start there, I feel pretty good because it's gonna make my secondary. Look a whole lot better. Right. What do you think? Oh, absolutely. I mean, I think Aaron Donald coming up and try to get him into a one on one match up. You know, we go back to what they used to do with Reggie White. You put five guys across the board. And you put Reggie White. I on the center what's a quick distance between two straight line means Joe Greene to used to line up, right? Senator I'm telling you Alan page of. Guys are the most disruptive people in that. He's a three down player. And I think you know to me that's the guy final question for coach last time. You were in a fight last time. I was in a fight yet. Oh, man. I was playing I was a player. I fought all the time when I played well. Why are you? So angry. Because that's that's how I played. Did you play I played angry? I did I played. I was different player when I stepped on the field. I had to I wasn't very big. And I wasn't very fast. But that was going to out will you and so I had to get manager. I make it personal. I made a personal issue. Have an off the field fight in college. Out of work out. I always walked away. Okay. Would your chin be an advantage or disadvantage, if you were if you were a boxer you like you give me a big target there? Yeah. Right. I don't know. Is it good or bad? Well. Probably not a good thing dot com. But you know, it wasn't always this big. Can you take a punch? Oh, yeah. Okay. Paulie, come over here. Coward. Dan, there's some people you look at and you look that like if you punched him he would like laugh and smile and then punched you back..

"On the sidelines, and your Sean Payton, I I have to believe you would have been more animate. Like, I didn't know if Sean was animated enough is strange that's going to sound to be that upset with. What was obviously helmet-to-helmet pass interference. Does that matter to an official like when you sell it do do perform to let them know you just made a horrible Cole? I think exactly I would say those exact words, and I'd go back and say come on guys. Let's respond. I think the biggest thing you can do the worst thing you can do is dwell in a moment. I think as a coach, yes, it's very upsetting. I acted them in in overtime. I thought. They let it carry over. Exactly. I think the most important thing I go back to a playoff game that we had against the Annapolis colts. And they made a call against Choi Paulo Malu. They overturned an interception. And I knew they were going through this whole thing that you know, this is not going to turn out. Well, but you cannot dwell on a call, and I think as a coach you gotta get the players back on the on the task at hand. And you know, when they left that field for Sean Payton, his Baz, call was they still twenty three they have three point lead. Come on. We just gotta stop, you know, and I think so I think for Sean McVeigh, he's pushed all the right buttons. When you think about the fake punt that he called early in a game turned around that entire game fourth and one we all say go for the touchdown which I thought kick the field goal. And all of a sudden didn't take a fifty seven yard field goal. If he doesn't make their field goal. If you don't if you put the the only the fifth year ago there one field go away from kicking going on loosening game. So I think he's made all the right decisions and the work dot every one of them for him. And I think in this game itself to is going to be a case of making sure that you make the right decisions stave. Wrestle to stay aggressive in your thinking because you know, Bill. But also when you look at a call like that would it help you if you're Sean Payton, if the league comes out publicly and says, we must like the longer this goes, I don't like why not just come out and say we made a mistake because it feels like we want opinion down and say all right Commissioner, did you get the, you know, why not come out and say you made a mistake is that gonna make anything better? If you're New Orleans. I don't think so I mean, I think we all saw it also miscall. But why wouldn't they come out and say something, I don't know. I never, you know, I've never counted on you know, I mean, what's it going? What's it going? You feel better. You know makes you feel better. They omitted they were wrong. I mean, listen we lost the game. Okay. We had a chance to win the game. Even though with a bad call. There's going to be bad calls in the game one hundred thirty five hundred forty place. It's not I think Sean McVeigh said it, and I've set up a force an imperfect game, and it's going to be it's going to be elements that take place because it is bang bang. And I don't want review for everything. I really don't. I like to call that was missed but respond to it don't overreact to it respond to respond as a team. It's something happens. When you make a bad throw you make a better reception. We gotta sit there and to say are you supposed to say sorry to hold team? No, let's go with this respond to it. You miss a tackle? I'm sorry. No. I don't hear it. Sorry. This respond to it. I think if your football team, and you respond to those situations that is the quality of champion to me because there's going to be ebb and flow in every game..

"And but it came down to the last play came down to the last play in the end zone. Then it's Gipson knocked away pass from Neil. Donald Barry Foster in the whole crowd. Just went silent. And I remember always remember that game because it was a game that we were a defensive football team very foster at seventeen hundred yards that year. And you know, we were kind of we imposed ourselves on people and fourth in two hundred two and I went empty and throw the ball and we incomplete pass go into locker room. And I remember telling the players at the time that you know, there's no words I can say they're going to ease the pain that you're feeling right now. But this understand that you've done a law for the city. And this was not the end. This is just the beginning of us coming back to being relative again and went back into the coaches, and I told the coaches when amazing job they did they made his team varying and really ever should be. And they pushed all the right buttons now in their saw Mr. Rooney. And I said, I'm sorry, Mr. rain for that you Don, but you can't patent a shoulder. And I saw my wife, and she can peck on the cheek and walked over. And my daughter was eight at the time. Megan. Was there? ACO dad? I said what she goes. Why don't you give the ball to bury? He got two yards and Laurence says Lawrence's says Megan long enough to say today. Negga said Lauren you say the same thing in the box, girls, girls girls girls, high your thought we should be getting the ball to Barry Foster? Do you think Pete Carroll face that same kind of interrogation with his family? Yeah. I mean, you know, I think that the thing that happens in these games is you do reflect you reflect the GIO out think here's like if that was a regular season game. Would you've made the same call. Yes. Okay. Yes. Yeah. You know? I'd never second guessed a call. But you get reflective as to why you did it. And I think if you prepare the biggest thing is again is this move on from it. You make a decision upset at the players before after season. You listen, you know, I want you here, we probably can't keep you if they give you what you want. You're going to have to make a monetary decision. What the value is to be in a part of something special. But you know, if you decide to go don't look back don't look back because I think if you put on into something, you put preparation of something whatever happens was meant to happen. And so I just review reflect on it. So you learn from it by ever second second-guessing talking to Bill Keller now working with CBS. They will host the Super Bowl and Bill is receiving the Pat Summerall award the legends for charity awards dinner that benefits the Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital that'd be Thursday night and that benefits Saint Jude's. "Get the Super Bowl again. If this is what the weather's like the time of the would you ever send it back? No, they won't they they won't want him down there. Well, if you build a new stadium you get a Super Bowl. That's how it works. And they're not going to be building new stadium anytime soon. It was a great time. But you have to the city. I mean, I don't know if you remember the was that the Simpsons or they own the whole city they may have to pull up one of those. But Indianapolis, I thought did a wonderful job too. And I don't think Indy's going to get a Super Bowl either. Yes. Nikola you have like a favorite Super Bowl city had some people say New Orleans and. I would prefer if they had the Super Bowl and just rotated at like three cities. I I would be fine with that New Orleans. Always does a great job San Diego is wonderful. Indeed did a great job. You know, they call it a break because the weather was great. But downtown Indianapolis was wonderful Jacksonville. Had some problems logistically we got Miami Tampa coming tune. Yeah. My Musial great job. The Tampa Tampa was was good thought. They did a great job New York. Not so much. You know, we where we were with our set in New Orleans, you could in New York, you could be there and not know that a Super Bowl was in town, which was amazing. I mean, that's hard to believe you could be in in New York City and not realize that so kind of kind of interesting their continental tire coaches corner presents us with the Ville Kaur who is set to join us, by the way, we got our poll question. Eight seven seven three DP show Email address DP at Dan Patrick dot com. Doing something different this year. Yeah. Our next guest was an outstanding linebacker North Carolina's state in the nineteen seventies. Not quite outstanding enough to get drafted that didn't stop him from having a four year NFL career with the eagles and Browns went on to be a Super Bowl winning coach with the Steelers widely considered one of the top three coaches. The Steelers of ever had over the last fifty years on a personal note. He has three daughters who are way better athletes than he ever was. Please welcome Bill cower. You look like you could still play. Yeah. Home away from home. Yeah. This is good. Nice. Nice. Little man. Cape. G you miss yelling at somebody. No nominee. I got. We got some guys you can yell at the Nate's in their boomers in their Phil. I don't yell anymore. But you do you miss it. Now, you missed the emotional ups and downs a little bit. Yeah. So you miss Sunday's miss Sunday's. Yeah. I like most about coaching. Dan was probably strategizing. I missed putting together a game plan. I missed the the combat of back and forth strategic elements of the game on Sunday. You know, you know, making the adjustments and what you've prepared for a week. All sudden, it's not there, which I think Bill Belichick, obviously is very very good. At letting Sean McVeigh is good at the battle within the battle. It's you know, I think always say more games are lost in our one and losing a game. Sometimes it's a case of not acclimating through your opponent and be able to flexible enough in your thinking, and what you've put in to be able to acclimate to a match up. All sudden. Wow. I thought we could win this. We can't win this. How do we protect them? Also, I see something I can exploit keep going after it because I retro I'd much rather had them do it on the sideline. But if it works once I'd run it again, which the game you still look back on and have a nightmare nightmare. Probably the my third year. The it was the San Diego Chargers. They came the Pittsburgh for championship game. And it was game. We had beaten them earlier in the season and actually beat them and had wrested some players. So we are very heavily favored in the game. And you know, we we started at game. And it was a game that the number one. It was in Pittsburgh. And all that day was like sixty degrees, which is probably not a good omen in itself. Right..

"Offers you a better chance in the draft to find one of these players. Also, I get some pieces that can I can put on the floor. Now. Now, Jason Tatum is in Jayson Tatum. Even said, if I were the Celtics would look at putting me in that trade like you've got to be honest here and understand your value. If I'm the pelicans, I can get more assets from Boston. Absolutely. I would wait. I would not be in a hurry. Yep. So with all that said, what's Anthony Davis is motivation to announce it now is that mean, he doesn't. Want to go to Boston this summer? It would rather go somewhere else soon. Well, I think what he's saying is I just want to let them know where things stand. I don't. I mean, you're letting them know prior to the trade deadline, very nice. If him, you know, maybe send a hallmark card next time. Yeah. Just want to let you know. I have no interest in staying in New Orleans. Does hallmark make one of those cards. They should for athletes, Anthony Brown or Antonio Brown. Could give that to the Steelers. I have no interest in playing for the Steelers Anthony or Tony O'Brien. All right. What else do we have here poll question coming up? You know, I put up a poll question. Now, I have to change. I put what do you just went rogue Itsuko week? I said would you trade Coosa ball and Ingram for Anthony Davis straight up and seventy five percents had? Yes, if they were the Lakers. But now you're saying who would be off the board. What I'm told is coups MO now, they're going to not they're not gonna give you their best offer. Oh, okay. So it could come back. But it's an interesting that at. There are a lot of oats in seventy five percent would do that. And I'm with them because there's only one ball. How many stars do you need? If you have a LeBron Anthony Davis. Well, technically, you would have a ball. And then you'd have another bowl so ball. So there'd be two you could bring in lamelo put the Lakers wanna trade one of their balls. Right. Yes. They do. Yes. If the. This is not gonna end. Well, if the Lakers send Brandon Ingram Lonzo ball contagious caldwell-pope in a twenty nineteen first round pick to New Orleans, then maybe they could get Dave's. That is what is going to be proposed has been proposed perhaps. And then you're going to need some people on the roster. And I don't think magic and still play. But they you know, bring in mellow to help the team. Yes, mclovin. I'm looking at the Vegas odds aware he starts next season. The fourth team is the Golden State Warriors. Could they added Anthony Davis? I would that be the most crazy thing ever..

"They would also probably go into a draft drafting somebody that New Orleans once, but it feels like the Lakers are the ones that feel a little more desperate here to bring an Anthony Davis. Yes, falling if you were the pelicans, this is it you'll never have in the near future this trading power. Again, if you wait to the summer, the Celtics are in play and Celtics have a lot hot more high end players second be level players, but good ones, and they have I think three first round draft picks besides their own in their chest to trade and the Lakers fans are excited. But this seems like a Celtic deal. I would wait if I'm New Orleans. Because unless cow kouzmines MS in the the trade, I I'm not trading with the Lakers and Anthony Davis. According to his agent who is LeBron James agent wants to go to a winning franchise with the Lakers used to be a winning franchise. They aren't now and Boston is a far better team. But Anthony Davis one he might get out of New Orleans and go to LA and sort of had the same situation. Yes. Paul Chris, Mannix, Sports Illustrated, just emailed, and he said, quote zero sense for the pelicans to seriously consider any offering July. Boston's highly motivated to get Davis. They have more appealing on players, and they have a chest of draft picks, including a possible unprotected grizzlies pick in two thousand twenty one which could be a high in lottery. Yeah, I wouldn't trade with the Lakers. But this is what happens. We look for the better story. Like, yeah. It'd be grateful Lakers got Anthony Davis. We don't care about New Orleans in what they're going to be left with here. And it's like, oh, yeah. Lebron and Anthony Davis that would be exciting. That's not the way it works. Like, you would think. If you're the pelicans, you're going to be smart here. I want to teams bidding for Anthony Davis. I don't want just the Lakers offer. Because it feels like I have to take that offer. Hey, he wants to play with LeBron James. And he now has the same agent as LeBron I think you gotta be really smart here. And you've got to be patient because you're right poli the pelicans will not be in this situation again. And if I have a chance to trade one of the top five players in the league, I better get a big hole in return. And Boston.

"It lasts up to twelve hours. Be ready. When congestion strikes next nasal spray use as directed couple of headlines here, obviously the Rams and patriots arriving in Atlanta yesterday, the trade rumor for Anthony Davis says heated up quite a bit as Adrian Wootton around ski reported earlier today, it was about an hour ago that Anthony Davis has requested a trade from the pelicans informed him he will not sign a contract extension. So there's a trade deadline coming up February seven and the Lakers appear to be the likely destination. We talked about this late last week with all the injuries do the Lakers. Then maybe go all in on Anthony Davis to try to salvage this season. Also the clock is ticking on the bronze James's career, and how many more years do you have him playing at a high level optimum level, and would you give up for Anthony Davis? But if I'm the Lakers, and I can somehow. Get Anthony Davis. And I don't trade Kyle Kuzma, then I would try to pull the trigger. Now here of the players that I'm told would be in the deal, and Kyle Kuzma would not be in the deal. It'd be Brandon Ingram. Lonzo ball contagious. Coldwell? Pope all one of him and a twenty nineteen first round pick to New Orleans Francini Davis. There's also a chance that the Lakers would bring in Carmelo Anthony as well. So a lot to digest there. They're the Celtics by the way have more assets. If I'm the Lakers, I wanna trae or if I'm New Orleans I wanna trade with Boston. They have more assets. Here's the problem. Davis is eligible for a five year two hundred forty million dollars supermax extension this summer, and he New Orleans says not expressed a desire to trade him before the February seven deadline, the Celtics they can't trade for him because of the rose. Is rule the Derrick rose rule. Boston can't trade for him until July first because league rules won't allow both kyri Irving's and Anthony Davis is contract under the provisions on the roster together, Cairo Irving becomes a free agent on July. First now, Boston could make a trade that they could agree in principle. Trading davis. But they would finalize it after that..

It was a yoga position with my head between my legs my tail so I came in to CNN, and this is where I first started. And it was great. It was it was a wonderful experience great people here. And then they've actually moved downtown to the Omni, which is where their home is one of their homes. The first time I was ever on TV was it CNN and my microphone didn't work. So I have my suit and tie on. I tell my parents I tell all everybody I'm going to be on. I'm doing a sports update. And the first time I came on TV was in this building. And I got on. And I started talking and it was. And I think I'm killing it. Are they yelling in your ear? If they were I didn't know I was just like, I just turn Lou waters. I believe was the the newsman. So, you know, Lou Lou gave me one of those in. Here's sports update. Dan, Patrick, so Jan, and then even had some pithy line that they always do they give it to the sports guy. And I I don't even what he said, I just turn and look right in the camera. Just started. And nothing was coming out. And all of a sudden, you can see Lou waters grab his microphone off his tie. And you can see an arm going over to put it on my tie, and I never stopped..
