"You don't want afraid of. You know I'm afraid of robots. Yeah, I saw one get someone get interviewed on 60 minutes. The top journalistic program in the United States. And he's just sitting there getting interviewed, not nervous at all, just rattling off all the fucking answers, you know? Not smoking, not fucking, you know, leaking oil, whatever you would do is a nervous robot, right? And the report is asking him questions and in the end, he goes, so tell us he's like, he's like, what are your goals? And I am alone in a hotel room. And I literally lean towards the TV. I'm like, these fucking things have goals? And the fucking robot just answers. He just goes to he goes, what are your goals? The robot goes out to become smarter than human beings. Yeah. And the report is just blows by it. He's like, okay, and what's your favorite color? Meanwhile, I'm standing on my bed yelling at the TV like, dude, I'm plugged that fucking thing. Take the batteries out. Pour the wok, pull the wires out, do something. How many sci-fi movies do you have to see before you realize where this is going? So anyways, every smart person, every super smart person in the world is saying these fucking things are going to kill us. Even your boy here, the guy who he recently died. What was his name? He was always sitting down. Hawkins, Stephen Hawkins, yeah. Two good the fucking stand up and make his point just sit down all fucking sparring. Oh, I care so much. I poured ice on myself. And I showed off my abs at the same time for the gram. Now, I'm just fucking with you. I'm so glad that guy's fucking dead though. Look at you guys. Your heart, how much longer do you want him to suffer? You don't believe in an afterlife, maybe he's up there now. He's fucking legs work. He's getting angelic blow job. How much longer do you want him to fucking sit there? So you can feel better by yourself. Well, at least I'm not all fucking twisted up. Saying smart shit, right? I couldn't fucking stand that guy. He was so fucking negative. He never had anything positive to say. Hey, Steve, what do you got for us today? In 2035, there'll be no more apples. Thank you, Steve. Thanks a lot. Wasn't thinking about that. Now I am. Hey, so what's the solution? It's too late. We need it to 40 years ago. Thanks a lot, buddy. I'm gonna go cry with my child now. "Of the mayoral candidate will be by coastal bipartisan with the Middle Eastern crisis. It's in that flirting program the deadlines may 11th. You have to start the bullying with the superintendent of the oriental. And the conversation would come around to me. I felt like I was like 8 years old. I'd just be like, hey, did anybody see you too video? Raccoon stole the cash food. And the cow was scratching him and the raccoon didn't carry just came in like this like George Foreman. A week out of your hands. I'll study it here. I didn't know the answer. He scooped it up and he ran away on pause. Do you guys know they had hits? Yeah. So now I'm married to the next move. It's just supposed to have a kid. Which I would love to do, but I'm 46 years old. I'm just thinking it's too fucking late, you know? Come on, man, I'm gonna have a kid. I'm gonna die natural causes when the kids in 5th grade. Throwing them a frisbee. We are seeing a Saturday. They had to do a faceplant. I can't stand them all dead sleeping again. Yeah, I feel hopelessly behind. All my Friends have kids. Most of my friends who have kids are cool. But I got a couple of those who think now that they have a kid. That I don't understand anything anymore. You know, it's people. Most basic shit. Hey, man, it's kind of cold out today. I'll do it. You don't understand. You don't understand cold. So you got a two year old with a bit of his ass, and you're trying to get chocolate off the Ellen's face. All right, all right, I get it. I get it. You have a more complex life, but I still understand being cold. He's shattering. Kind of lets me know, right? I just tried 6. Mine just turned 7. I just feel hopelessly behind. You know, so what I'm actually thinking of doing, I'm thinking about adopting. You know? Absolutely, recycle. You know? Yeah, big globally at locally. Everything doesn't have to be brand new. You know? Like when you redo your kitchen, you got custom up taught, you got Ikea down the bottom. I'd love to adopt. It's a great thing to do. But if I do it, I'm not telling any of my friends. I'm just going to show up with the kid one day. Just to piss him off, right? I understand 6. Mind just turned 7. I'd love to just show up with an 8 year old like Domino's. Yeah, now I get to tell you what you don't understand. 7 year old where did I turn 8? Hey, it's such a funny game. Terrible tooth. Try the incidents which is bad. They're just there. Well, their issues. Dude, I should do it though. I should adopt. I think it's a great thing to do. And I already know what I want to get. I do. I want to get like an O 7 O 8. Always garage. Good dentition. You know what I would love to do? I love the rescue some kid that works in a sweatshirt. Let me find the kid that made this shirt. Just show up at the factory like, hey. How are you doing? You're going back to the stage. L shaped house last week TV. Got the dog refugee sewing. Are you? Coming on with me. Yeah. Dude, how easy? How easy would that kit be to race? After the hell he's been through, all I gotta do is let him sit down. I am immediately the greatest human being this kid has ever met. Just bring him, yeah, man. Have a seat. Are you to sit after? Laid out on the couch, she'd be like, it's like a clown. It's like a clown. And I'll get him a bowl of fritos. Put on cricket or soccer, one of those sweatshop sports. I don't know. He would love me. That's my first draft pick. All right? Coming out of the gate with that. In the second round, I probably get like probably got like an O 5 boy soldier. Yeah, sure up the offensive line. You gotta protect the blind side. Yeah, that's all fucked up the world is. There's little boys out there fighting in wars. So that's a twofer. I can drag him out of that hell. Give him something of what's left of his childhood and God forbid if the dollar ever collapses, right? Shit goes south zombies takeover. I got back up. You know? Everybody thinks I'm gonna be the problem. Meanwhile, I got this sawed off Chuck Norris. Standing next to me, 170 kills. Confirmed fucking kills. They're not stories. To make a flamethrower of like a vacuum cleaner and a toaster. You can't cook stuff, right? I gotta be honest with you. I feel like I'd have to go easy on the discipline with the boy soldier. You know? I might be nuts, but I feel like I could come down on the sweatshop kit. All right? I just can't get in there and clean up your goddamn room. I'm getting sick of this shit. Those are you two if you want. But yeah. I mean, I had a line all day, mister. Don't even stop. Don't even start that shit. Don't even start that shit. You say that every time. Yes, you do. Every fucking time you say that. You know the answer. Now, you want me to say it again, fine. I'll break it down to you, okay? You know what? You know why? You know why? You want to know why? 'cause you're so. All right? Yeah. Get to. You so. Dude, he's fucking killed people. You understand that? No, he doesn't. He doesn't have to make his bed too. No, he doesn't. Because he doesn't sleep in the bed. He's out in the bushes all night talking to him. Breaking me the fuck out. All right? Fuck you. Fuck you. He scares me too. He scares me too. Don't even start catching. You wanted a big brother. I got you one. Start that shit, all right? All right, you're right, you're right. Okay, stop crying. Stop crying, okay? For me yelled at you. I just thought I could fucking, you know, bring him in, you know? Give him a couple of pop tarts. I figured he'd chill out. Fucking sitting there looking through his eyebrows doing that full metal jacket shit, you know? Now you can't give him back. It doesn't work that way. No, hey, there he is. There he is. What's up buddy? What's going on? We were just talking about you, you know? You just now just doing like a little surprise thing. You feeling all right? Feeling all right. You're not looking through those eyebrows, huh? Everything okay? Watch Bill Burr. I'm sorry, you feel that way. Only on Netflix..

"One of the best comedians working today. You know him the more money. More podcast and the bill bird podcast. It's bill burr a bill. Hey how's it going up christina. A she's doing fine. She seems a little shocked. Awake the glasses though. Say like you know intellect it does makes her smarter than she is to. It's my idealized version of christina. Yep that's going in there but there's no words coming out perfect and she's ready for you not the deal with any shit. Yep lover. I love you progressive. Thank you it is. Isn't it crazy that there really is like. You made women great again america that i miss this. He actually looks like you know when they used to do those shows whether it was the nerdy check. They put a hot actress sunglasses. Yeah and you can see. She's like it's obviously. This is the porn star version of it. Maybe you could do that. You could do like the porn star version of that. Hey why don't we look at just a big -tated blonde porn star to sit in on the next episode. You sure i'll get right on it. Okay thank you go there. He goes on the casting sheet tinted porn star to sit in with a shocked look on her face swearing glasses and the whole time she has ever have mouth open. Yes otherwise teller. It's good exposure. What happens you become the devil when you start booking stuff start. Paying people and exposure the exposure the exposure. Yeah that was a thing that would happen for people that don't know when you're when you're stand up and use like start working you get booked on these like this'll be a web thing we own the will own the set but a lot of people will see it and you'll get great exposure. You're like okay. You start selling out venues then go to those venues and then those promoters will fuck you over there. Yeah pass over the fuck over there. Yeah that's what the whole thing. Yeah get paid and exposure for. Yeah that was like the first fifteen years of my career. Yeah and then there was the thing. Did you ever do a half hour a presents or anything like that or you did. I don't know how if yours was super effective. I remember that. When i booked when i got it. They're like your road. Business is going to change. And i was like really in. They're like oh yeah which is why were underpaying. Wonder if you're not gonna have any room for the money that we we gonna give it to. You know i i did mine i i work totally clean because they had that archaic beep is what they were using. And then i did. Is little amount of time as jose a lot. Because i knew i didn't. I didn't have the final edit right. So i'm not going to give this guy saw guys do like forty fifty minutes and it's like dude. You don't even know if this person knows you understand your acts. And now they can just turn into a mess so they needed like what twenty two minutes yup like. You had to do. At least twenty-six. I did twenty six so all so all they did was. They took a bit out so that worked And then i worked like totally clean because it's like well if you're going to beep it then i'll figure out how to just just do it clean which was sort of a fun exercise as not who i am but it didn't. It didn't do anything. Hbo and hbo getting on opening anthony at the same time when it was for jim was the first thing that got me like east coast markets and san francisco and a little bit in chicago and that that is when you started to notice the change like the that the tickets were selling i in in those markets. Yeah there was a it was a few but it was like mostly like san francisco is hbo the whole east coast a special. Yeah but i mean but opening anthony. I don't think they they were that big in san francisco but all like opium. Anthony got me like tristate area up to boston out to like cleveland and down to like dc. But the second. I got into virginia. It just dipped nothing. Nothing virginia all the way down to miami. All the way across tex-mex arizona. That was all a wasteland in colorado. Hbo special healthy like when they would like those really like nerdy comedy towns nerdy and a good way i think they actually saw the specials and then Like the blue collar sort of northern cities was opie and anthony. And then i just wasn't on anything that like Southern or south west. Yeah a lot of the midwest. We're gonna see you know what i mean like they are sort of existed on different Circles you feel like neck because no one of the things i noticed. Is that a lot of times now. Comedians like people. We know friends people. You know you're at the store with will get a movie or something and it will do nothing and and it's not like the movie didn't do well or the part like they did great but it doesn't create the same traction it used to. But then i think of something like the man delorean which you were in Both seasons but you had like your own episode basically on the second season it's a phenomenal series in the episode is amazing. Do you feel like can you sense that that has any effect like does it bring because it's such a i don't think it does. I know i think the.

"Little shit kid. That's what what block but at some point you look over like not slacking soft walk all over them. Not saying you've got to bite him. Give a growl. Snap the jaws. Let him know what he's dealing with. My i'd love to have a dog again. I always wanted a bulldog. But i just can't imagine having a bulldog in this heat out here as a worry about. Don't bulldogs have bad hips. And they start to fall apart. After that says german shepherds got the bad hips the the bulldogs some flap in the them out. You gotta get it removed. It's like they were genetically mute. They created by people with lots of breeding. And then they've got some flaw. That makes their life a living. Hell don't they yeah they. I don't know. I really would love to have somebody explained to me how you breed a wolf down to a bulldog for these specific job of want. They like the bite a bully in the nose. I don't know the half my knowledge was given to in a barroom. I don't know what it's like. This dog like the fox how they like bread it so it could be like with the pointy snout in long body so he could go down the fucking hole and get the goddamn thing or something like that. Yeah it's like how do you how blocking perverted are you. If you're sick if you think of like a german scientists you know thinking about how we're going to breed this down we're gonna get this amp so that it has a long thin paws reach into a window and grab a jewel you know they. It's amazing. I bet if that dog over at the legs on that dog that dog fuck.

"On the treadmill what do you gonna send a charges half or renton. Oj simpson two hundred yards. last week. It was the most exciting passing. Howard cosell would do the fucking highlights all my guy get chills. I get chills. When i listened to that. I can't find this. I have a theme from f troop. We never got into that show. It's ridiculous it's absurd and it's I can't you be that kind of chips. You know what. I'll give chips. Another chance on horses instead of motorcycles. Forgive him no. I'll give it up for punch. I give it up for astrada. He's great. he's the coolest things ever happened to me as a up. I did a benefit for the Lapd i showed up. It was during the day. And i was like. I don't know how this is going to go. And i ended up being great. We had a great time. And i'm standing up there. And when i looked in the crowd frank pancho villa erik. Estrada was there. Yeah because he still has a connection with those guys from doing stuff all the years that i looked at him a game. We'll give you the smile nice. I'd say. I am leave. Because i had something to do so i didn't get to say hello. There's a restaurant. I could've said despite what conan thinks. Oh come on. I have great respect for erik. Estrada i just think the writers were doing a lot of coke. I think they were trapped. They were trapped all the crimes to be committed on moving vehicles going sixty five miles an hour. Can they were fun. They had in that writer's room pitching show ideas like this guy steals waterbed. Does it on the one. oh one. he's steals one thirty four but then he takes him to the one to one the only way we can catch him as if only we had police. He's environmentalist steals the water beds and then he empties them in the river. Let's fucking reboot the series. Do it the way you want. I wanted to be a this time. We do it right. The seventy six. What are you say one. More time one time and this time this time we do it right. We do it for panch. We do even know. We're talking about some of these shows chips chips too hard on ships i might be. I don't i don't remember but a lot of crimes on a unlike wheels was borders. That would paint the forged art in a moving truck. Yeah you know what got to me. It got me. I probably overreacted. But i just the you're acting like they press. They won awards. They didn't okay. These guys they got health. Insurance people enjoyed what happened. I mean you got to look at it for what it is. You're right you can't get mad that pop music isn't free. Zappa miles davis whatever. The hell you're into you gotta you gotta go pretty much nailed it there but god you know at the tasty spoon. Only music listen was zappa. After we were constructed the masterpiece that was f.

"Vince gill ipod chester years. Must be a podcast for your ears. Pristine venezia's elegant vince. Gilligan saw you and new like the breaking bad he saw he saw the he didn't put you in like a narrow slot he didn't he didn't he didn't he. Gave me the role that i always wanted to do. And what was great about. It is I worked with lavelle crawford and he was such a physical presence of the fun working with him was. I didn't have to be tough then. Because i was just i was just brokering. Listen you don't want to deal with this guy let's just let's benecke That's all that was like what's going to happen. A lot of the blah. And we're going to keep this guy happy so then i didn't have to do all of that stuff but i still got to be disorder guy that goes around. You know dirtbag threatening people and it was so much fun. So was your dream to be dirtbag people. Yeah just being the guy that does everything right. I mean you're going to end up driving ice cream truck in a movie. Who wants to. I would have driving this starsky and hutch car. At least be the guy like one of my dreams acting gig. I always wanted to be the perp getting chased down an alley. Yep that throws the trash can down and then right when you get to the chain link fence. They grabbed you. And you're like the interrogation you get halfway chain link fence but they grabbed me by your waist and they dra- you don. Then i gotta become the dirt bag and form it and they start pulling me out in daylight. Because i'm not giving them all they want to be coming up to me. Maybe i'm using like who didn't like i love that character. I always wanted. What's great about you. That's what i love you at eight nine ten years old paper route looking up at the screen and saying that's me. I'm the guy that they're dragon into light so that everyone else will know. I'm a snitch. And i'll get the shit kicked out of me. That's what i wanna be. yeah. I don't see any fun playing the cool guy ever right. It's just like it. And i don't think like i really is. That's how i look. So what i've learned the key to acting is like if is if you don't look like these beautiful people just stare into you know your shortcomings you just steer into them right so i sort of like you know with some of the acting gates. I got lately like when i come into hair and makeup. I just can't my head's a blank slate. Like how dumb can we. I did something. Non this kid tyler falvo. We did this thing that we sold on qube and then they went under. We're going to see where it's going to land but it was. This guy was basically stuck in the nineties. So i had those really bad nineties hair plugs. Remember those thanks so they remember the guys would just get like a line of and then they'd out of money and then try to grow him back so it was like i had those with like you know the the the stuff on the side and then sort of like a mullet and a bad like tribal tattoo peeking out. And it's just like i find I don't know those are the guys. I kinda like watching that. Another thing about watching seventies movies like the character actors in what they added to scenes and stuff while the movie star was in there I watched some clint a lot. Like jeffrey lewis in there. And harry dean stanton and just guys like that and then i think coming out all of that would be philip seymour. Hoffman like he has a movie. I can't even get through it. His character so excruciating ahead to watch it in ten clips. I forget it was. He was a banker with a gambling problem and he starts taking money out of the bank gambling just every time you just like you start. You start getting caught up in his gambling like you're rooting for him to win. And of course he starts winning. And you like you know cash out go back to the fucking room. And he wouldn't. I got about fifty minutes into it. And i never finished it. And it's like sandler in uncut gems. I don't know if you saw. Oh yeah yeah. It was so good but you're rooting for him to go further into his addiction. And then get out just in time that lasts allow that. He has the last bet that he had. I was like i was watching the game with a but you know it's funny. There's there's stuff to nick. Kroll came on my show once early on. And he did a bit where he imitated a guy in a seventies movie eating. And he's like a dirtbag detective but in the seventies things weren't as cleaned up as they are now in movies now we depict wealth allot we depict people being beautiful with this and nickeled does his great impression of guy and he's just talking shitty diner somewhere. He's in boston or in new york and he's in he's talking and maybe he's a cop maybe he's an he's talking any just jamming fries so he brought fries out and he was just jamming. But i do remember talking at the same time and i thought you right. That is every movie in the seventies. Is someone pushing greasy unhealthy food into their mouth. All of that is like on a On a loop so. I'm interested to see where this new way of doing things is gonna go. What do you mean the new way. Well i haven't fat people on billboards it'd be called heroes and stuff. They just go on the complete other direction where that leads going here. Yeah i think people are not shaming them. It's just because you have parents or something so you attack the fat kid but in a way helping them out and i don't think putting them up on the billboard sheringham onto continue eating these hostess cupcakes. First of all. You know. I'm fucking around your fucking around but you know what it wasn't different time i this you're just talking about. It was the seventy s. And i was in a summer camp and i really was unhappy. And the counselors weren't nice. It was this camp up in maine. I'm not gonna name it. No one was nice. No one was nice in the seventies and what happened. Was i remembered that sunblock had just come out and literally in the previous. When i went to camp. I get so badly burned. Because i'm a red haired guy because they had no dodie looks like lobster. Look like i'll lot staff and i remembered. Oh we're going out on the on the water. We're going to get in these aluminum canoes in a cook. So i ran up to my cabinet. And i quickly put on some sun protection on my legs and i went down and the guy who ran the boating expedition. The counselor who must have been about twenty years old was like well well. Well look who's late. Why we allay and i said well you know i had to put on my son. My son pre he had put on his side and he got all the kids to laugh at me. And i'm like no i just. "Bullshit where everything gets so blown out of proportion now just because they need people to to look at what they're what they're trying to get you to click on so I actually stumbled across some good movies. You know what i never seen. What was straight time with. Dustin hoffman had never seen that. don't offer johnny c k straight time with dustin hoffman. Right that oh my god. Is that a great movie. You just notice things were they just looked shitty in the seventies. They did. When i was growing up all cops. You know that. I see all the boston cops were heavy. Guys just didn't look happy or look good and now i walk around policemen for the most part of in very good shape. You know something. Yeah the instagram pages out wearing the uniform. Thank you they all they get everybody's getting shamed on. I'm wearing a hoodie right now. Because even just the way. I am right now because we had three birthdays family this month. So i've been eating cake like almost every single which has been great but you know my age. It's just over. So i put on put on like ten pounds or something so now i'm shaming myself wearing the hoodie until i get into t shirt shake. Here's the thing that happened to me. I see it 'cause you know when we during this process of like wrapping up the the nightly show after all these years. I'm just constantly exposed to videotape of me over the years and i can see. "Was just. It's standar- lines fit all socio. Wait a bit like that. One time colin quinn. Nah he used to do all of those those social stupid things that people say yep One of my favorite ones that he did was the in. You know me like you just like like the arrogant guy and you know me you know. I'm not no. I don't really know you don't know you and i don't care to know you you know how am or whatever it's just like. Yeah i liked ever since he's done that bit. I kinda is tell many people do it. And how self serving it is a boy you know me you know me go. Don't get me started because you know there's another thing i knew a pretty me. I don't give a fuck never met you before bringing it up. I knew a producer. When i first came out to la one of my first jobs and the guy didn't have a sense of humor and he'd just be like look at this guy here. Whenever i came into a room. Look at this guy looking. Oh firecracker what are you talking about. You've not described my personality in any way. I'm not a firecracker you don't need to look out as filler. It's filling the awkwardness of coming in. There he probably knows he isn't funny. He nosy isn't good at small talk so he's just accepted it and not says autopilot dialogue. I realized matthew mcconnahey goes right. All right all right just dealing with being famous getting from the car to whatever the fuck going all right all right just plows. I have found. And i hate to admit this but i found that if i quickly meet a group of people and they're like oh and i go. Hey how you doing out. If there's four of them i'll say to three of them nice and then the last one i'll be like i don't know about this guy not so sure about him and the the first three like. Oh that's great. That's great and i shouldn't admit that because it works every time the escape during the left i make the escape during the laugh. That's when i get away. That's when i get in the car really quickly. And i go but if you pick one guy and you go negative hard on him for no reason the other three like it. They love it and they don't understand. They have status now. Yeah they have more frequent flyer miles in their conversation. Yeah like oh man. Conan really ripped matt. What did matt about nazi coach. They got bumped up the business. It's still great and you just kept going. Nice meeting you guys but nick. I don't know about nick. Oh man you should have seen him. Rip nick and missile. He tore nikopolidis did he. All he did was say. I'm not so sure about nick seconds. After learning he even exists. Dodie smelled it on you man. He just knew who you were caught. You fucking roasted you. That's a very over overly used word now. Roasted yup roasted is is an art. And it's it takes time to really row. Somebody preparation jokes and all of that is just if somebody just gave came by and you know shit shit non you yeah this shedding on you which is actually more insulting than being roasted because somebody cared enough to sit down and get some writers and pretend that they set it right. Tell us people do it shitting on somebody. Yes is that can just you know. Let's just the first thing i saw i. Well i noticed this elect to if you look at how the media covers late night show. I just noticed that there are always some late night. House will just do kind of us like more or less. Say ted cruz or somebody's You know he's not my cup of tea or something and then you'll read on one of the online things host roast sped crewing they said. And you're i and then you look at what he said. You're not really but it's all you know you gotta get click bait and it's just an also take down total take of trump that step that's used strike that it's used on animal videos too. Because i was watching one of the day. Do take each other. Nobody was one. I wanted to see some anything rang and tan had a natural predator. Why i was watching every which way you can look looking up and i just want to say that a natural predator went down and i forget what it was but it says it absolutely destroys the rant and nothing happened. There was one that said a wolverine destroys wolf and what really came up with. the wolf. came out bidded a couple of times and then just realized it was more trouble than it was worth with. The wolverine didn't really do anything to them other than just be a pain in the ass went away but the title you would have thought it was just like. Oh man this wolverines going to somehow hang on to. I mean this wolf's going to hang onto this wolverine take the punishment and kill it like usually but that's but they got you to watch the whole video. The essence now of our discourse in the united states is everyone's roasting taking down in destroying someone else. And then you look at it and they're more or less just saying you know i don't really agree with what he did. Yeah i don't really agree with their policy. Bestest one i like when they take the with comedians. They'll take something you said on a podcast or your material. And then they shoehorned into their political opinion. Yuck yeah and then they act like you said it like wow. I never thought of it that way. Now this is how you think and now you're trying to make it seem like i said that and it's one of those things you can't jump in and say that's not what i meant because then you just it's not worth. It is settled lot nowadays. It's not worth it. Don't get involved if you pay attention to it. It's strange if you don't the world is exactly the way it's always been i. My advice to everyone. Listening is really. Don't pay close attention Most problems work themselves out not global warming. But it's too big a problem. I can't think about it You know just don't pay too close attention to what's happening in the world. That's a bad message isn't it. It's it's the only way to protect yourself. I've just gone back. And i'm watching all these movies from the seventies because that was a great time for me. Because i was young and all it wasn't a great time for most people but it was good for me right where i was just a kid and i just had a paper route. I collected football cards. So i go back then i see the cars i see the movies i see the price of gas and i just sorta tune out what's going on now. It's a way to kind of combat the Real bad stuff that is happening and then the chicken little bullshit where everything gets so blown out of proportion now just because they need people to to look at what they're what they're trying to get you to click on so I actually stumbled across some good movies..

"Hi. My name's bill burr. And i feel honoured conan o'brien close friend. That do that that he never calls some back to school. Welcome news Hello and welcome to another episode of conan. O'brien needs a friend podcast We will we just let it all hang out. I think that anymore. Let it literally. We're all sitting here. Nude i think that it just automatically now. People think let it all hang out like ear in this. It was like a terminal. I think in the seventies late sixties. It'd be like let it all hang out and just be yourself but now of course because people are perverted. it became a euphemism for lecture. Hang out of a you'll let your appendage hang out of of its zipper. It's enclosed if you will. That's not what i meant. I'm not that kind of comedian. I meant we just act like ourselves. We just let it all happen. We let it all hang the way cock my okay. Why did that sorry. I had to had to get away from it gets honest for doing big dick history. I now Yeah you had to do the plug for that thing. Very important segment i. It's funny you guys talked about made a joke about us. Being nude is the other day it was very hot. Here in los angeles really hot and you will support me on this sonal. I never wear shorts. No i very rarely see. I mean it can be. I can be in the desert. It can be like one hundred and twenty degrees. And i'm always. My legs are always covered dangerous. It's dangerous for you to wear shorts and for onlookers. I made the mistake the other day of wearing shorts because it was so hot and We were taping show. Martin short was the guest and he came out during rehearsal. And i wish you'd been there the sonal because he is one of the best insult comedians of all time and we weren't even rolling tape or anything and he just told in two minutes one hundred and fifty five cruel jokes about my legs and me wearing shorts and i mean i can't even remember most of them because it was like a machine gun and everyone the crew. Everybody was howling and laughing at me. Now you're off to summer camp. Is that the idea you know what. Sure campers well. I hope you have a good. You know and then that was that those freckles of their benign benign of they've been chet and just wang. Wang wang wang wang. Of course i maintain. He's you know funniest. Hang on this spinning globe. He's hilarious. But i remembered thinking it's the one time i wore shorts and i'm never wearing them again okay. I don't care if he hurt your feelings a little. no no i just. It's okay if he did. You know it. Just like he found the vulnerability completely. I must immediately seal the vulnerability when they built the second death star. They didn't build the same vulnerability again. Did they matt. yeah they did did they. Okay was worse. I'm sorry. I mean i guess ended but yet they did well. Yeah instead of just a thermal exasperate you can fly a full couple of ships in there and get it this time. I didn't realize that i can't remember. I thought it blew up. I remember why blew up. If i get what you're saying. I think like one time. I wore a sweater with a collar on it and hewlett into me and i was like. I'm never wearing that again. Why did you have that sweater. Conan widely sweater. What he just wanted. Why do you have shorts. Everyone has shorts. Yes but come on. You know you're gonna get made fun of true. Here's the thing you make fun of yourself. You're the one who always says how pale your skin is. How many freckles. You have how freakishly long your legs. I had a memory in camp. I was in summer camp in freedom new hampshire year. One thousand nine hundred seventy four. I think and i'll never forget. The food wasn't great on this camping trip. And i remember they Someone lopped off giants. Slice of spam dropped it into a frying pan. And i looked at it and then i looked at my legs and realized that they look exactly the same. If you want to know what my bare flesh looks like open any can of spam from like the nineteen forties. Ooh look at spam for your flesh before. But i didn't realize there was an actual origin story. Yeah there was an origin story. I remember looking at and then looking at my leg and being really bummed out and then taking a bite out of my leg realizing it tastes very similar to spam. I'm not saying this to make fun of you. But i just thought that during the summer especially when it's really hot you have to be covered head to toe door hat in long pence and like uv. protection shirts. which. I didn't even know existed until i started working free and ball in bulk i have. Uv protection shirts stashed everywhere the way an alcoholic hides bottles uv protection. A- shirt stash. So you know in those any after school movie or whatever when they depict someone who's got a drinking problem you know it's always someone opens a closet or something and there's all these empty vodka bottles that's what it's like for me but it's cut off sleeves. It's just the sleeve that comes up that you can buy from some company. And they're called like glued duties. And you pull them on and they covered. Just your sleeves ludi duty. And i've got all those loose-fitting shirts all those companies may can. I've got spf fifty stash everywhere. It's not your fault. it's not my fault. God did it to me. A cruel god. That's very cruel god Well i'm going to have a guest today. Who understands my pain That's true you are and this is maybe you know he'll understand. My guess today is hilarious. Comedian and co creator of the netflix series. F is for family. He's now on a comedy tour across the country and tickets can be found at bill. Burr dot com thrilled.

All of a sudden like mcdonald's has like a new sandwich. You know just sitting screaming. Tv pardon all these ceo's new mcrib so anyways yeah so i have a lot of fucked up thoughts man. I do the most recent one. I had you ever drive down the street and see like thirty people up on a sidewalk. And you just think you don't do it. That's what separates the psychos from the functioning psychos psycho. They just think it fuck it. They do it going to a day out of it right but as a functioning psycho. Not only do you not do it. You actually analyze it like man. If i just leave my hand right here. Nobody knows who i am. I move at two degrees over here on the cover of newsweek instantly. Thanks right here. Nobody knows just a regular jackass. Like hey bill when it comes to the cook know you could bring that potato salad. Was such a big hit. Last year could strike up a conversation. Maybe hook up with their case. It even tried to stop. No i had those thoughts all the time recently. My girl took me to a street. Fair right you guys are ministry. For a close up the plot schwab shipmate outta buttons. Right people not making keychains. It's a typical girlfriend idea. It sucks and it's going to take all saturday right right. She's all excited. She's like swinging my arm. Getting stuck in bring for lightning some sort of scaffolding. The fall down on my head so she comes up first place. She comes up to his big table. Nothing but a homemade jewelry homemade jewelry. It's got twigs in it. Macaroni it's shit table of shit right but she loved it. Funky right. she's like trying on the hearings the like do you. Do you think these are nice. I want to be like if they were nice. They be in a store. It'd be a roof. Some sort of structure would be built around this shit. If is a table of shit. But i want to be thick tick and that's great. You know i'm to go some air k. Even know we're outside. I think there's more air to be passed. I felt that i was going to snap. I watched like two three tables of waves. This lady stand there with his big table enough about muffins. Right homemade eighty-five degrees standing this big table. Nothing but muffins. He's got this big stupid. Who did the muffins they may face. And the second. I saw that shit that part of my brain which is like dude. What would happen if you up and just said hey lady these your muffins. Oh yeh just started going puckett moshe realistically. I think i got the whole table because even if you saw me doing that shit take at least five to six seconds to process. Did they stay. You eat the pastry. There's no security shit like that. Don't do standing there. He's blushing they'll pay off my mind. We're gonna have to ask you to leave. Just choke me out. So i start thinking the horrify fucked up looking this lady's face and they started slamming. These muffins then nowhere. I just started laughing maniac. Slunk over this car dying. My girl looks to me. She's like what the hell you laughing at and like an idiot. I actually tried to explain like she was going to get it on. Some level right was thinking off. She's just looking at me. Like why do i go out with you. But i swear to god man if i never broke contact the second i started hitting those thicker wouldn't even be able to call for help. I would have been in. Her head would have been too personal. Can you like a high school at this guy. Why would you happy. I don't understand it. Sometimes pity thank you. Thank you thank you..

I can get my brain prepared for what might see. I wasn't fucking ready. You know. I just eat these fries mike dumb shit. They gotta go to the gym. You know in my own head. When i looked up these two jews. One guy that there's going it so the second. I looked up i just want. That's all like did then. This girl which is clear tonight. Alb- homophobic homophobic hatred hatred. In that area. She goes out that it was just like a visual thing. This goes what are you talking about. Oh put it this way. The first time ever saw porno. I was like fourteen years old. I had no idea what doggystyle was. But the second i saw my brain was just like that is the shit. I wanna fucking do that. Point in my life. Want to convince a woman that wake me. My brain was like yes. My dick was up. Everything was an agreement that this was a wonderful thing. And i had no idea what it was the same topic. If at any point during that porno somebody started like kissing. Somebody's like sucking on their toes. Squeeze me but that doesn't mean i hate feet and i don't want him in my neighborhood just means i'm not into that shit safety with the news. I have no hatred. My harper gay people all right. They're cool. They're funny generally speaking. They're neat. You got a lot of positive things to say about him. You know neighborhood. The property value goes up because they make fabulous right. They can't reproduce the not making more in the way people walking around the pitch wonderful for the environment. God bless them but hop part is political correctness. Go i gotta look at some shit. That's making my brain. Look the way. I suppose to override that start like cheering on the relationship life through chester. You tell me some gay guy never walked down the street scene two straight straight people just going at it and never just like oh god why. Walk it off. Can't help but that's just how his brain is wired right posing now mike dick but there's no hatred in that i i don't know i just couldn't fuck it. Explain it to this girl she public. It's like not on the same of emc a big guy sandwich. And he gets a little mustard on the side of his face. You fucking look away. But that doesn't mean want to choke on the sandwich and you want to get a bunch of friends to beat the shit out and freedom sandwich. Do whatever you put your mouth on the most intimate thing ever right. There's no middle ground the like yes. Fuck that there's no middle balls right you just you just insert yourself into the situation like when you watch a porno this guy and a girl but you're not looking at the guy even he's right there you just looking at the girl and you just thinking yeah. That's what i would be doing right but if you took the girl out which is some guy just sitting there just trying be like. The shit is horrific right so what. I'm looking at dukes kissing. It's like a stalemate there's no place for myself into that situation isn't horrific. Does that mean. I'm fucked up. I love about that joke. You guys got it. After the first example yet i felt the need to give you so it's to get my shit together man. That's basically started going to therapy again. I just can't. I can't do therapy. I try i start telling my stories. I just start fucking laughing and then the therapist is always looking at me like come on. It's kind kinda funny. So he's trying to get me to bring the walls down so you know. I finally one therapy session. You know i start getting a little emotional. And then all of a sudden he goes he goes. Okay just breathe in the second brennan douche. Just wall came back up again. You know maybe. I'm just fighting this fuck i am. I like corvettes. Maybe i should just be this to start making some more money. You know you never think about this shit. I don't know how you guys. How do you stay married. How the fuck do you do it. I know you take the happy family photo. You're sitting there. You know you never just slam the garage door new head putting yourself in a coma for a couple of just all happy okay. Evidently insists happy. I'm the only one that thinks they should all right. I don't know. I like fucked up. Shit man like crazy stuff happens. I like stuff like sports. I love watching. Sports stuff like people cheating like with steroids. I am so pro steroids. It's ridiculous shit. I could really give a shit. I don't know what barry bonds is doing. But whatever he's doing. I hope he keeps doing it. I'll be just comes out. Is like one big chess muscle with like a back sticking out just keeps cranking him over the fence you know people have been cheating too since the beginning. Since i was watching baseball in the seventies half of them were on coke. You don't think that that helps you see the ball a little better like wired out of your mind like fucking and love all that stuff like when people fall out of the upper deck when athletes punch people in the stands i mean. That's that's what's entertained for me now. I like that jimmy. The greek moment that happens in sports you know like once every four or five years like some fifty fifty five year old white dude tries to explain why black people kicking the shit out of white people in practically every major and it always goes down the same way right. There's always like three white dude's white dude the middle. He's always like the guy with like the theory you know. He's always on these These african american athletes. They are. They seem to have this This quick twitch muscle fiber slow twitch. And there's this quick twitch and the second the dude says the two white dude like sliding on a frame like getting fired and i'm not gonna be part of this. I keep that the do the mill. He's just like hell bent on getting fired. You know he's just by bringing up. Slavery never daily green the strongest man with the strongest woman. That quick literally. Twenty minutes later that dude's on tv's fired. He's crying family stand there. He's got a box of shit from his dad's was like an emmy sticking to quit. Slow twitter no. I love that. I love seeing people up their careers like that..

"I don't know you don't find women that just like i think that great. I don't want this to come off like come off here like some woman hair. Because you know. I know i'm psycho. But it's just like i don't know i just find him to be like relentless just every day they just they just got to come at you. They just wake up. They have an agenda and they're like these cycle robots that never run out of batteries and everyday contact. You gotta deal with that every single day her name and you literally every day. It's like waves hitting the beach every day. Just a road and a little more your life away waking up inch by inch every day just demi drinks too much. Where did you find that that. Throw it out to one day just hanging out in the middle of the lagoon with your fall cards waving your friends back on the short gave me tickets. I still sports he trying to. I'm trying to learn how to pick my battles with my girls. You know what. I used to argue all the time. I'm just trying to pick the battles some days. The they come at you. You just gotta let him go. Just let them go. Follow them to whatever dumb shit. They wanna do picnic picnic. You bring that good then other days you just gotta get your hand up you just go to create this perimeter something in the bounce off like you descend that psycho energy in another direction. I could buy a couple of hours of freedom before they bounce off panel game now. They're relentless they never stopped and there's no reason form stop you know why because you can't hit that's what it is about that there's no physical ramifications being an asshole. When you're a woman. You know how much of a dick i would be. It was socially unacceptable to kick the shit out of me. Be trashing everybody. I saw see some big muscle jin slap his protein. But i can't do that. Every guy has a line in. If i crossed the line get blasted in the face. Totally acceptable women line. They can just fucking sixty coming at you. They can do stuff worthy of like a suplex and they'll just stand right next to it the decent seat or run away like your clothes on fire. The like i did. So i stuck around to see react by a couple of friends to heckle us. You stop it out with your key. Your car sign your name. Susan put her in a headlock uber. A couple of. I feel bad for women that you you never get the feel that you guys should do it to each other once in a while just off and just blast one of your friends in the face. You know it's good for you. I know yeah. I know it hurts. You know. you can't flee knows your ears ringing. But i'm telling you man it it clears your head and it causes you like evaluate yourself anytime ever got punched in the face. I was always pissed but at some point during the drive home. I'd always be thinking like you know kind of being a dick back there. You know. I really think about it. I probably shouldn't have said that last shit you know you'd like to make that adjustment at night an asshole. I can't believe he's actually micro punched me in the head on valentine's day few years ago i want to hear this story is a great one. This is how much of a dick i am that i can actually tell a girl. I love her. Give her a card. And somehow at the end of the night she still blasted me in the head. I remember what happened. All i know is she said some shit then i said some stopped and she said some more stuff and i said fuck it. I'm going for big air. I said the last shit and next thing you know she just came flying at me. Fists balled up. Okay and if i was just hit me all in here you know which is acceptable right. It's a holiday. Let's fuck fucking keep it. Keep it nice right. I got i was blocking most of it. I was doing the rope a dope. I was leaning back with polar ahead in i was leaning on her talk shit but then all of a sudden she just went up. Top complete hippie right in the side of the head you know what hurt the most was not that she hit me was that after she hit me. She didn't have the decency to hop back like like. Maybe something was going to happen. She knew nothing was going to happen. It's against the rules. So not only did she get the man the head this. Ufc talk and shit thing in my face. She started like breaking up. Some stuff you know. Of course it was all my stuff. And i'm just standing in okay. Don't look in the is still as you can come down. That's great that's from high school. That meant a lot to daily not to you. If i was doing that. Shit i have a cop with his knee and my back but evidently you have a jonathan. That makes it okay. I just have to stand here frank. I don't know it's gotta be me it. Does i get too many arguments i do. I got an argument. This girl the other day you ever meet somebody like within the first couple of minutes of meeting them they they feel like they can like some you up just like you know what your problem is. He just had this unbelievable urge just to take their head and just mushy and do whatever they're eating and really hold it there for a second. You know like feel. The panic in the back of the head is like the air bubbles become like less and less frequent. You know thoughts like that random. Violent thoughts like actually had the urge the elbow old leading the face the other day. No i swear to god. I was going. I was going to get off the plane right. You know the rules. When you got the plane it goes row by row by row right in this. He's all like who one ninety. I get cut everybody right. So she starts waddling around me ghetto uncompetitive. I start boxing to tell my luggage. I swear to god. I did this literally. Taking up the whole lyle and all of a sudden just go around and she just starts waddling all around me and i just feel my elbow like dude. You're gonna take this shit wide open shot you know. Just give you a quick one. we're gonna feel it. She's going to go down and he can play off like. Oh but i didn't do it man. I got my body under control. They come on. And you can't do this shit. This is wrong. And i thought it was in control and then she got like right about there then. I fell off monday night. Football on to throwing that out there all the time i do i didn't do i didn't i didn't just you never think she'd like that. You never just walk down the street somebody up on a ladder you just want to go up and just just to you. See people like eating sidewalk cafe. Having a good time it was one of this girl was annoying me. She was eating. Something and i was envisioning plunging. Your face right into it..

Justice Department Hits Google With Antitrust Lawsuit

"Few weeks ago we were all on pins and needles expecting a lawsuit from the US federal government against Google and on Tuesday after a fourteen month. Long investigation that lawsuit arrived the US Department. Of Justice and eleven states have filed suit against Google arguing that the company has used unfair practices to preserve its search and search advertising monopoly. Here to break all the details down with me, records Peter Kafka Hey Peter hit Teddy. So how a deal is this is a very big deal. This is the most consequential antitrust action against a big Tech Company that we've seen since nineteen ninety, eight I don't know what you are doing in one thousand, nine, hundred, eight I was actually still falling technology news back. Then that's when that's when the US government sued. And we've gone twenty plus years, and now we've got the government's suing Google and we knew that this was coming for a while right and we talked about on the show with Shrink Afari a few weeks ago we didn't have specifics we didn't exactly know. What the lawsuit was going to allege that Google's done you've spent the morning digging in talking to a bunch of parties reading the suit tell me what the main argument, the US federal government is making. So I'm going to caveat this. This is the beginning of a process that's going to take years, and so the initial complaint from from the US government. Is the initial complaint it is going to change over time through discovery. Okay. people are going to add to this. It's going to be a living document as we say, but the big picture here is is this to start with the US government saying Google has an illegal monopoly and search that it maintains it focuses mostly on the idea of Google paying. Mobile, phone manufacturers like apple like Samsung fees, either directly or indirectly to give it pole position for its for search engine which then makes it search engine dominant, and then it gives it a an unfair advantage in search ads. So it starting with search and adding on search ads in it is mostly focused on the idea of Google spending billions of dollars a year to give itself, prime? Placement. Your phone and yeah and to the average person of sitting here thinking what does this case kind of boil down to it's basically that Not just that Google is too big right but that Google has unfairly made itself. So essential in all of our lives. That's the overall thrust of all the antitrust and all the tech reform conversations we're having, which is all of these tech companies, Google and facebook, and Amazon, and apple are have gotten so big and they're not really restrained by government in any way, and this has been going on for years and decades and someone should should do something about it, and this is really the first. Concrete who've we've seen from the government in sort of the modern Internet era trying to rein in these big tech companies. All right. So I'm guessing Google to not throw them a big hug. What's their response to this Google response is, Hey, we have an awesome search engine. What's your problem with this by the way it's free so we're not harming any consumers with their awesome Search engine by the way when we spend billions of dollars and give that money to apple and Samsung or do people who use our android software for free, they get to deliver awesome phones to you for less money than they would have normally because we're helping to subsidize that what's your problem by the way? The idea of giving people money to get better placement is not. A new idea it happens all the time. When you go to your grocery store, your target or Walmart people have paid to have their products on the shelf or on an end cap they pay different prices depending on where they get placed. This is not a new idea, and by the way we've done all this in the open for years. Yeah. You get the sense that Google. Sees this as an existential threat at all I mean. I. Wonder to what extent This is a financial risk for Google. Stock Market said no big deal Google share prices trading higher than it was Google has faced these kinds of accusations and lawsuits in Europe for years there is definitely a possibility the the US wins a lawsuit and there are structural a reform is made in. Google. was forced to do something drastic like split it's android business from its search business. We're not sure as possible. This could be a way to break it up. Yeah. It's it is possible. There is a wedge here that you could use to break it up. There's also the possibility that. Spends years fighting the DOJ and it gets it takes its eye on the ball and or it doesn't make moves that it would want to make because it's in a lawsuit and it has one upset the government anymore, and this is what people at Microsoft said happened at Microsoft when they were fighting the US government twenty years ago. Microsoft ended up winning that because sort of there was going to break up settlement for for Microsoft and ended up not happening in Microsoft kind of got away with punishment except that Microsoft ended up missing out entirely on the mobile business and there are Microsoft people who say we did that because we we took our eye off the ball and There's an argument that just bringing the lawsuit and just occupying Google. Is Sort of a punishment in and of itself Peter you mentioned your story which talked about the fact that there's a lot of people on both the left and the right who've been calling to break up big tech. He's going after Google. Specifically, you made a great point which is that you had this sort of unlikely alliance between the trump justice department, which is bringing this lawsuit and folks on the Left like Elizabeth Warren who are. Glad. That Google is getting some skirting for the first time in a while. They're very glad and to be clear you know it's not just that it's a left right thing. I mean, the Lisbeth Warren Detests Bill. Burr she calls him a corrupt trump crony who should resign. And then literally, in the next sentence in a statement, they gave to me said and he should go ahead and pursue this lawsuit. And you know it's as basic as as anime enemy is my friend. The slightly more sophisticated argument is we can't wait to work with the DOJ that we love. We need to work with the DOJ we have. We've been waiting to restrain google for a decade or more, and we can't wait on this. It's gotta go. I want to ask about the timing of this. there. have been reports that this was sort of sped out right that there's an election coming up once every possible accomplishment that he can talk about to happen before Election Day. Do you see any evidence that this was rushed at all or what do you make of kind of reporting that? This is politically motivated to at least begin to unfold before Election Day there was a report from the New York Times in particular said. There's dissension within the DOJ career staff wanted to go slower and that bar was moving to make this go faster and he wanted to happen this fall. The intimation is this would be sort of a political action. It's possible. We certainly have seen Donald Trump rail against big tech companies especially in the last couple of weeks, he has to set anything about this suit today and and to be fair this is a little a little abstract I think for people to sorta understand and you know. I'm not a political expert, but it doesn't seem like this is going to move a vote. That said, you know it's Donald Trump era everything's very weird and and it's To ask questions about something like like the timing on this right? I mean. The timing is step back. Though as you mentioned earlier, this is a years long game. You know he trump I get to say he's begun the lawsuit, but obviously, this is not happening. Yeah. A more practical way of thinking about or another another way of thinking about it that folks have suggested to me is this is likely the biggest case in bill bars career and that if he doesn't file it now or at least before. He may not get a chance to file it because Donald Trump may not be president come January. So the rushes for Bill Bar to get this thing through and have his stamp on it. This a lawsuit that is gonNA live for a long time. Right it could live in Abidin Justice Department right and that he wanted to be the one to bring yes it may sir it is very likely to continue a Biden Justice Department and that bill bars looking at this sort of with a historical frame like this will be my contribution to antitrust.

"For the higher-ups at the K Kate a cave. They might be interested in this and then so that was the final straw. They finally stopped advertising with him and maybe in 2018. I have to find out and then they came back like the next year that was 2018 the came back for Thursday. 19th and he made fun of them for that too. So yeah, and then he was selling razors at one point and he would do the ads in a Boston accent. They sell shaving butter. So he would say shaving butter instead of just saying shave butter which I thought was really funny and that's how I practice my Boston accent. I listen to that ad on YouTube and I'll talk about that a little more and then so the last example that I have that I thought was really funny is that He was selling sunglasses and they use the word a state and so he didn't know how to pronounce it. He was like acetate a state and then suck Googled the word and he had Google Text-to-Speech and he repeated like five times acetate acetate a certain way. So that was really funny. So what's the impact of these ads and why am I telling you about them? Okay. So these ads are very impactful because they're funny and memorable. I came up with these five ads just off the top of my head. Oh, there's one more thing about him. He creates a song for one ad and someone yeah, I'll I'll talk about that. So yeah, that's the fifth one. He creates a song for one Advertiser off. So these ads are impactful because they're funny and memorable. I came up with the five off the top of my head. Yeah, so when people want to buy something off or buy that product will think oh, hey Bill Burr did an ad.

"SNL is starting back up. which is still weird to me. Again, this is weird to me but they've announced the first two host. They're going to have bill burr and Easter Ray hosting on the tenth October tenth and October Seventeenth, and the fact that they're going to be back in studio with all like. Like is there going to be an audience? There's absolutely no way that can be an audience. How does live sketch comedy? Work without an audience it's very strange So we'll see what it is but. If it's me I'd be telling everyone why aren't you still shooting from the attic shoot from your house is how I feel about it. So you know this is one of many reasons why I not in charge of production things in Hollywood never never be the person who choose to do that I'm excited to see both of these hosts does not under the circumstances so. I look forward to watching these on youtube after the air.

Lessons Learned From The Iowa Caucuses, And Danger Signs Ahead

"I'm encouraging everyone to get out and give a separate the clapper Joe Biden I don't know the results and I with the I know we got rolled over last night he lost the lot he lost third fourth or fifth place we'll figure it out in the course of the day I'm joined by Byron York of the Washington examiner to talk about three things is state of the union tonight the impeachment acquittal tomorrow and the Iowa fiasco last like good morning Byron good morning June which order and were you up all night no I wasn't actually I actually I will I will tell you on our caucus story which is as you know there are a few journalists here in the morning and and all all of them were covering the democratic caucuses so I thought to myself I get here on Thursday in time to go to the president's rally it was clear the president I had a pretty large operation in Iowa and it was not because he was terrified of Joe Walsh or bill weld it was because he was trying to win the general election to get it in the bag while Democrats were still struggling to find their candidate now we didn't know how much how struggling they work so what I did was I went to a Republican caucus last night in Ames Iowa but forty minutes north of the mind and if they did this radical they voted once they counted the votes and I reported the results all my gosh you're kidding me and so it what was interesting you know AT and another thing I did years I I also went to a campaign event from Joe walls the former Republican congressman who is challenging the president does want to see how how this worked out and I don't know if you've seen the results but statewide from one ninety seven point one nine percent of the vote and walls one one point zero eight percent and bill weld on last year's governor one one point two seven percent so so Joe bill Burr Joe beat Bill Joe Walsh rebel our world no no no no bill weld bead Walsall world world up one point two seven percent to Walsh's one point zero eight percent that's got a first test for never come Republican challenges and it did not go well that's got a thing to lose to Bill well I'm sorry Joe Joe used to be on the Salem radio network and and it and so sorry Joe our condolences Byron let's talk a little bit about the hunter gatherer aspect of the trump campaign when it comes to data because I believe that's what the rallies are about I believe that with the caucuses were about the president's gathering that you attended on Tuesday night they are looking for the data they are and and they're also looking to make an impression the for people who might not remember in nineteen eighty four in February of nineteen eighty four Ronald Reagan as president he's headed to a huge reelection he certainly has no we nomination worries and he comes to the moment and that's the point in Waterloo used to rallies on caucus day when the Democrats are trying to choose their candidate and the Democrats are outraged the service is done it is not worthy of a president but Reagan did it and he really kind of took some of the oxygen out of the room for Democrats now Jeff Kaufmann who is the chairman of the Republican Party here and I was set back in June he told president trump about this and you know Mister president and Ronald Reagan did this in the end if growth Democrats not now I think other people probably recommend this as well but sure no problem was here and got in about seven to eight thousand people it great university and would that was far greater than any other Democrat in the event that any Democrat had plus trump brought a long list of circuits his his family cabinet members members of Congress Republican governors I was that the the caucus where Donald Trump junior spoke and they stepped up their social media and as you say they got all the information everybody came to the rally and then of course you have the information for value comes to the to the caucus and by the way they registered to vote a bunch of new people last night as well now they will move on I think yeah election effort but I think that circus will move on to New Hampshire even as the zombie campaign of Biden struggles forward the president tweeted thirty seven minutes ago by right New York the democratic caucus is an unmitigated disaster nothing works just like they ran the country remember the five billion dollars obamacare website that should have cost two percent of that the only person that can claim a very big victory in Iowa last night is quote trump close quote I don't think the president's going to allow this to pass I'm remarked upon all day long any may even bring up the state of the union Byron York I would think I would think and and by the way it it does appear that that vice president Biden did not do so well and I did go to his last event in here in deadline before the caucus and I will I will say though just a few things one the the questions about whether he has the vigor required for a long hard campaign those are really open questions that really he's not a high energy campaigner at this point he brought circuit like Chris Dodd and John Kerry which really gave the impression that he is a man of the past not really electrify anybody from the stage with use the most important thing was really interesting you spoke for more than twenty minutes and did not mention any of the Democrats most important issues no healthcare no climate change no gun violence no tops Isshin it was really extraordinary all he talked about without terrible crumple as any displayed no vision for the future beyond bringing things back to how they were when Joe Biden was in office so I you know I think a lot of Democrats look at that campaign is that this is just not working and when we do finally get results from last night we'll probably gonna see that the team by noon put out at five hours ago by bill Russo any campaign saying they wanted putting out in completing numbers is contributing to the chaos and misinformation they would like very much to move on before a fourth or fifth place finish is finalized I don't think they can escape that Byron but let's turn to impeachment I believe there will be an acquittal I don't know if it will be bipartisan do you have any reporting on that I don't I do not have any insight I I do know that efforts to try to censure the president I think you're completely doomed if you remember in nineteen ninety eight there were some Democrats in the Clinton impeachment nine nine or some Democrats who wanted to censure the president and not not impeach him but house Republicans went ahead and impeach the president of course they had a trial and a lot of Democrats who waited he's just been impeached and he had a trial that's a pretty big censure right there so I do not see any Republicans in the Republican supporting the center specially wanted strongly worded as Joe mentioned was circulating yesterday now I also want to make sure I get your reaction Byron I begin the program by saying lord bless and keep Rush Limbaugh I'm a prank I don't know if you are but he the ease the fellow who built the talk radio mall I just got a I'm a tenant like everyone else is I got Nordstrom in that

"Let's take a look at I. Guess the mandatory series win. You got done watching it. I guess. How overall satisfied were you with it up and down for you like this episode was good? But this episode is kind of a Dud. What what was your first impression as a whole I think I'd dug the whole the whole series whole a few more times? I really dug it from beginning to end when it was down it was still great. Its lowest points were still pretty high points. Okay overall. I really dug it but I also have like a huge love of Westerns and Samurai movies. And this kind of felt like it kind of felt like a way for star wars to play in a new sandbox. It felt very reminiscent of the original trilogy while also managing to kind of have its identity. Yes okay segues is into a good point. I noticed right away on the series the simple things like the fades from scene to scene. Where the same little you'll circular fades aides or sideswipe fades from? Yeah from you hope. You cannot do that when I graduated from film school. One of one of the things they told us in in film school is don't ever do that. It looks it looks amateur. It looks bad. Really for whatever reason star wars can do it and the reason they the reason they can do it is because they just kind of did it at a time when they were defining what Star Wars. This is so when episode four came out or Star Wars or the original movie nineteen seventy seven when that came out already visually. It was so distinct and so oh very specifically star wars that it can incorporate silly things like a like a cross dissolve across fade or a circle Michael Fade or whatever you wanNA call them It can do that because it is star wars and and if you saw that if you went to go watch the avengers and and you see that really slow white from the right side of the screen to the left side of the screen to transition. It would look very out of place in Lynn very artificial because because that's not part of cinema language but it is a part of Star Wars language and incorporating that into the man. delorean was something. I've thought was incredibly smart. Yes you actually see that in things like Djeddai Fallen Order And a lot of video games as well. Okay we'll incorporate that in the cut scenes it just it's A. It's an easy visual indicator that this is star wars I love that when I saw that on the very episode. That was one of the simple simple fan services that the what other fans services or things did you see that Cairo. I the main thing. The first first thing I saw for sure was was the rifle and everybody talks about the right okay but it deserves to be talked about talking about man. Does the knife owned the mandatory rifle. Yeah it's It's it's kind of like a long rifle with a tuning fork. Yes that was Boba Fett rifle in the holiday special which is the infamous holiday special which I've seen and it is as bad as everybody says and it's not like it's not like a challenge to go watch it do do not watch it. Don't and watch it. It's not it's not even worth laughing at. It's it's so hard to watch but In the BLU ray release of the Star Wars The star awards box set episodes one through six on the bonus disc. There's actually an Easter egg on their. That has the entire animated segment from the holiday special. Yes so you can actually see that and it's really cool but in that segment it's very much like a Ralph Bakshi inspired character design. It's really Kinda cool but you do see Z.. BOBA FETT teaming up with Luke at first and then he betrays him but he's got this weird rifle that should never ever work and everybody thought it was a cool looking rifle. I never thought we'd seen it and live action. Let alone we would disintegrate people. Yes that was another little throwback to empire pyre when vader tells Boba Fett notice integration. Yes because he had that rifle and rifle disintegrates. Yes it does look a little bulky on him but they still make it work. It works completely nothing about again. That goes back to what I was saying before about the visual language of star wars and again in the empire strikes rex back in the original theatrical cut. There's a shot on cloud city of a guy running through running through cloud city as it's being attacked by the empire but he's holding. What's supposed to look like a futuristic device but even in the eighties? Everybody was like that is an ice cream maker. Awesome husband was just running with an ice cream maker but they brought that back And so the the client played by Verna Herzog. He actually carrying all of his best car in one of those ice cream. Oh and so. That is another throwback that I really so when he opens up the best guard the open up that containers just the ice cream maker and it's the same kind of ice cream maker that that that extra was carrying awesome and it's Super Fund. It has no bearing on anything. If you didn't know that it's it doesn't take away or add anything to it except for the factory like I know that the super fans hansel catch it. Sure the casual fan okay. Whatever you know they won't even notice it but still get to enjoy it absolutely? Yeah and the show is filled with stuff like that. There is an episode where the episode with Bill Burr where they go to like a heist episode. Yes super the prison ship. Yeah there is one on living person on that ship. That person was played by Matt. Land Her who was the voice of anecdotes skywalker in the clone wars. Yeah and a whole bunch of other stuff but it's cool to have that clancy brown played a de Veroni wasn't Ronin. He was different. He was a different species. He was the red guy the horn. Yeah but The Big Guy. Yeah but that was clancy Brown. who was the voice of sabotage press and a bunch of other true in the rebels? Yeah and and Star Wars rebels he was sabotage press. It was really cool to see people from the animation side of things being incorporated into the live action. which is the kinds of stuff? I want to see moving forward with specific characters. Sure On the inverse of that you know we're we're getting to see live action or we're getting see animation people in live action and on the mandatory and then also in Rizal Skywalker. We got sorry guys. I'm talking about it. We got to hear. Canaan from rebels was one of the voices. You heard you heard Soka. You heard every you know people who were doing voices specifically for the cartoons in for for super fans you know which if I may indulge myself they already introduced you as a superfan. Oh good good a resident expert. Sorry whatever is just whatever cooler than I actually am but it was really fun to be able to to see those things. And if let's say I'm talking to you Leigh and you have no idea who Canaan is and we see rise skywalker you're thinking it's super cool because you're seeing this really cool scene. I think it's super cool because I'm seeing is really cool scene and also Kanaan's yeah and so it's just kind of another little the thing and and the reason I bring rays of Skywalker with this is because it's all happening right now right now You know we can. We can talk about this next year when you know when I owned the box set of the man delorean and I own the skywalker. Saga and I can watch those at the same time and and it doesn't necessarily have the same effect because we can watch it whenever this is something unique to December of two thousand nineteen this is as we're experiencing the lore. which again there are some of us like like you and I who will watch the cartoons and the TV shows and read the books and read the comments but there are are some people who only will take the movies or now the TV shows as that's all they know about wars and that's totally cool but at this point you know we saw in the Manda Laurean the child the baby iota used the force to heal somebody and a week later? We're watching the rise of skywalker skywalker. And we're seeing those same force. Power is being used and just from a serial point of view for storytelling. I I'm completely fascinated by. I'm really really excited that I can experience it this way and nobody else was going to experience it this way in now even now. We're we're staring at the New Year here in the next couple of days. People aren't going to be able to experience it that way anymore. Because it's already happened past and it's kind of a lightning in a bottle
