There is not one team in the NFL that looks like they could steamroll their way to the playoff through the playoffs. Not one. The chiefs are the number one seed and they it makes sense, right? Because they have Patrick Mahomes. They have Andy Reid. They have a team in place that has been to multiple super bowls. They've been in the last three AFC championship games. So the steadiness is going to get you through a tough season, but that offense is still struggling. And no disrespect to the chief defense, they've been incredible and they've really stepped it up, but that is not a complex defense. It's difficult to figure out. So you run into a bill Bella check or John Harbaugh or Mike Tomlin. Somebody with a lot of playoff experience, you've seen this team a ton. I'm not sure spagnol is going to be able to put together a defense. It's just impossible to figure out. Moving on a little bit from the Patriots, who I'm just simply not worried about at this point because again there's just until if something goes wrong against the bills and whatever else they've got the bills, Jaguars and dolphins ahead. Could they lose the dolphins game short? Could they lose their bills game? Sure. Are they going to lose the next three? Of course not. They're in the playoffs. Seeding aside they're in the playoffs. So I'm just, I can't linger on that too much. Moving on to the contender pretender, narrative across the league, you know, let's take a look at the cardinals who lost an insane game to the lions this week. The Cardinals were without Deandre Hopkins, and it's pretty clear that Kyler Murray has been struggling since he came back. He is just not a 100% from his injury. Also, you have an unproven coach with cliff Kingsbury, so they are faltering. The defense has not been the same since JJ watt got hurt, shocker. But they are a team that should be able to withstand the loss of Deandre Hopkins and still win a game in Detroit. So that's not really an excuse, right? Deandre Hopkins hasn't even been there most prolific receiver this year. Christian Kirk and AJ green have been more prolific this season. They've been more consistent this season than Deandre Hopkins. So at this point, Deandre Hopkins is a luxury. He should always be a luxury. You can't need him to win games. So yeah, they are struggling. They could be slipping. No one is putting them in an NFC championship game anytime soon until we see how the rest.

"The other side. I it's a more interesting. Quarterback is a quarterback competition in new england. What is the sense. You get the dynamic between cam. Newton and mack jones. Yes quarterback competition. We can call it that cam. Newton is the starter plated limited amount of time against the washington football team. And they beat the Eagles and at that time 20 years ago. When that there was almost 20 years ago, my thinking was that if you if you had a big win You know, An unexpected win is an underdog. That you that you were likely to come up flattening next game that has proven is yours. Go office come by not to be the soundest of logic. Step out of that speed edge in that game. They were so much faster. There was no fun to watch. It was like, Oh, this game's over. At least you'd have to sweat it. You know? Yeah. I didn't sweat it. I had like 80 people in my house that day, and they were all looking me going. I'm sorry. Shut up! Get out of my house You did for a living We doing here I was doing I was on the sidelines for That game, and I didn't know it until you know afterwards when the NFL films recap came out and You heard John Lynch, you know, calling out basically formations of what they were going to run, so I'll go see him and all that kind of stuff. But I remember that day standing on the sidelines, watching going man is sure does seem like they know exactly what's coming. Because it was it was somewhat competitive for it hadn't gotten out of hand and the first quarter And then after that, it's good that the wheels fell off. But when it started to happen, it was just a sense of man. Sure sing. It was like they were running routes for receivers E had learned everything. And I've never made that mistake again. I've always taken into account. You know a coach that knows their opponent. We won a game earlier. Was it this year or last year when we took Matt Patricia over Bill Bella Jack because he would have the advantage of knowing the Patriots and Bella check wouldn't have any advantage of knowing to try to his last year. And the Detroit upset the Patriots, and it was the second or third week of the season last year and and so that's paid off a number of times, but that Because a coach that's left an organization has the advantage of knowing the personnel he's playing, whereas the coach that Eyes. "Day today Big weekend and then it is a fish always Super Bowl Week. I'll be back in Tampa next weekend. There's no radio row, but I'll have a show a week from today in Tampa. It will be a part of CBS is Super Bowl coverage. CBS doesn't have the game on Sunday. I love that match up. In fact, I want to talk about that match up. I got a few thoughts on that matchup. And when I say w. T w I mean Calvi's week that Woz all right, first things first back at the start of the NFL season. Had said at that time that the one thing that I was not going to do was a weekly update on Tom Brady v. Bill. Bella check I mean, certainly was one of the most famous breakups of all time. And like any break up you want, make damn sure that your ex is not doing better than you are. You wanna make sure that your ex does not end up with somebody better than you. You want to do everything in your power to make sure that the ex knows that he or she made the wrong decision picked the wrong person. You'll do everything in your power to come out of it better than you ever were when you were in it. Of course, like who hasn't been there. Everybody has been there and Brady and Belichick. We're no different. Just was not going to chronicle it or scoreboard it every freaking week. Again. This was no ordinary break up. This was a highly publicized and multi layered break up a legacy type break up. Ah, break up that would determine which guy Brady or Bella Jack was actually the one more responsible for all the success. I mean, even that, in and of itself was kind of a dumb idea, though, right? Tom Brady is not winning six rings without Bill Belichick. Bill Bella check is not winning six rings without Tom Brady. But this is why, in part, I was not going to do weekly updates on the standings, comparing the Patriots and the box from week to week and then updating some stupid to man power ranking. Good thing, too, because for the second half of that season, the power ranking would have been the most idiotic thing ever because while the Patriots were looking more and more anemic on offense and getting smoked by the Rams and the bills, the Bucks started to roll, and now they're in the Super Bowl. Would say scoreboard, But Bella check and the Pats aren't even on the same scoreboard is Brady and the Bucks. In fact, at this point, they're not even playing the same sport. But that doesn't mean that Brady is done talking about his time in New England, Even if he didn't know even if he did not know Michigan man that he is, even if he didn't even know where New England actually was. My kids were born in Boston. You know, I have great affection for the city. The everything that Boston has meant to me and my family. And all of New England, not just Boston. I didn't know where New England was. When I got picked by doing I was always a funny story. They called me and they sell. You've been picked by New England and I was like, that's amazing. Where's New England and landed in Providence, which really screwed me up, because that's not even in Massachusetts. Guy goes, Oh, like he's told the story a million times. "Oh, Good morning, Ada. How you doing? I'm doing great. Thanks so much for joining us. What is the temperature in New England? Where does this fall people rooting for or against Brady in the Super Bowl. I think most people here are rooting for Brady in Tampa in Tampa's kind of, you know, Underdog story to start with, but the fact that times their quarterback, and there's still so much good feeling about him. And with the pages being long gone, I think a lot of a transferred over to him. I mean, there was a split early on about You're choosing sides. Do you root for the Patriots? You would for Tom etcetera. With the Patriots so far out of it most of the time. There's still a few haters who hate watch Brady want to see bad things happen to him, But that's the diminished group and it's It's been a loser's lament for those who try to do it because he just keeps winning is we see So what has this done to the narrative about Bill Bella check and the Patriots cutting bait with with Brady after last season? Well, certainly bills under a lot of heat right now, the fact that they didn't have a line of succession they didn't have. Ah, Plan B. And we know it wasn't a student because they wouldn't let him play even a gunpoint late in the year when it was obvious they were out of it. Cam Newton was underachieving wildly. So it's not stick him and it wasn't Newton and me. They waited till the last week to bring him in at LoDo, and there'll be else passed on. I mean, we saw why He couldn't throw and you know he was a great soldier and and get all the work and build was pumping his tires all year. I can't imagine they come back to that next year, especially and you know this above all of you, but with everything that's going on out there with Quarterbacks coming and going and I just got to think that whoever the quarterback of the pictures is he's not here right now. Interesting because in your piece about this, you said for Bella check, it feels worse than spy gate. Worse than deflate gate worse than even the Super Bowl losses. Why for Bill Does this feel so kind of cataclysmic? Well, the last couple weekends, you know, with them winning. It was champion winning at New Orleans. And then the Green Day. You know, it's right now. The easy narrative is Bill never won anything without Tom. Look, what time could do. You can put him anywhere and he gets right back where I was was so all of it was Tom. I dispute that. I think the larger share of the credit pie goes to Belichick over the 20 years. I do. This is the NFL the coach of the system that's more important than any one player. In my view. This isn't the end via so I'm hanging on to that. But that's a you know. No one wants to hear right now and certainly You know, Bill's gotta gotta get on the comeback trail. And you know Tom's gonna keep me in time. I'm sure. But yes. Oh, for him right now. It's just It's gotta stick in him a little bit. You know, people interviewing Brady's dad me saying that I was probably on the hot seat up there. I mean, that's just got to really break his chops in a big way. He hates that. And Sean is he joins us from the Boston Globe. Here's one thing that I was thinking about when they drafted Jimmy Garoppolo. They thought that Brady was on the decline, and it's certainly motivated Brady to become a better version of himself. Is it possible that this breed that we're seeing this year would not have happened in New England anyway? Because he needed a kick in the pants again that people didn't believe in him or he had revenge out for the Patriots. Elevate his play the spot well, given what he had here to play with, It probably wouldn't have been a lot better. I think they wouldn't wanna cook more, but they wouldn't be in the Super Bowl. In my view. I mean, he has a lot more talent there. And you know, he got things there that he wasn't allowed to do here. He was not allowed to be coach and general manager here, and he is there And he's having quote unquote fun, You know, And that's the kind of thing that again just goes right up Those key stir, you know, Go have your fun. I mean, wasn't enough fun winning six Super Bowls going to nine. So Yeah, there's there's beyond. Then Tom had a new level of commitment going to the off season workouts and just, you know, plus he had He had better offensive weapons as everybody knows, and that was said as soon as he chose that place. And they underachieved. I don't think that he reads ever gonna catch Vince Lombardi. Some would say that Bill Bella check has already caught Lombardi. I tend to disagree, but I could be biased. Don't love the Patriots. That's Understatement. And so I think Bella check could be the second best head coach of all time. But again, Bella check success comes over a 20 year period and a failed 1st 10 year in the NFL's a head coach. Lombardi didn't End up coaching, you know for the Steelers and go to 10 and two or something like that. He ends up coming of the NFL immediately winning Super Bowls and immediately developing Hall of Famers. Belichick ends up Has over 20 years. Ah, guy with mortuary peon ships. Guys. That's your next crew. Don Shula. And all those guys have this larger than life reputation over Shadows over the NFL. You know, Don Shula's the all time winningest coach Undefeated 72 Dolphins. You have Tom Landry's fedora and was the head coach and Dallas for 25 years, 30 years, maybe almost 30 years, I think And two Super Bowl championships and five Super Bowl appearances and building that franchise from the ground up as an expansion team. You have chucked all who won four Super Bowls in six years. Of Bill Walsh. You completely revolutionized offense in many ways and created the modern NFL offense and won three Super Bowls in just a decade's work as well. So Think Andy Reid has been coaching a long time. He's got one ring into Super Bowl appearances. He's great. That championship last year made him a Hall of Famer. But I think if you're gonna start cracking into the Landry, No Shula Walsh And then anywhere. I don't think you'll ever get higher than Bella check in Lombardy. That Reed is going to have to win, Probably two more Super Bowls. Now that's in play. Have Andy Reid finishes with three Super Bowl rings and four Super Bowl appearances. There's a conversation to be had there of him in that upper pantheon. But I think it would take that. And what McNabb was saying was. There has never been recorded history in the United States Been a year like this, since we have been tracking influenza and pneumonia type illnesses. There's never been a year like this so Isn't there an easy answer as to why this is happening? I mean, there's two answers aliens. It will obviously three. I guess if we're counting that one, but you're talking about from not illegal you talk about Yeah, like space invaders. People are wearing masks. Washing their hands a lot. And their social distancing. Wouldn't that naturally cut down? On flu deaths and hospitalizations. I mean, that would be one logical answer to it. But alien. Why was that? That mentioned at all and I went back and I looked at the car, but it wasn't mentioned at all. Wouldn't that be? Couldn't the doctor be all like, Well, we are in the middle of a pandemic in which everyone is being hyper vigilant. About not touching one another. They'd rather have the magic than science. They gotta be like, poof. It's gone. It's a super weird that no one Or he in that clip didn't say that number two. Here's another reality. The numbers are also probably wrong. Let's be clear about this. The numbers are not as accurate as I'm Willing to bet some people might think I'm guessing. Once you do a better examination of some of the covert deaths, you're going to see some mistaking cases that are assigned to Cove it when they should have been assigned to the flu because there are some similarities. And You know, that's where the conspiracy theory comes in. I'm willing to in a general sense. I am willing to give The benefit of the doubt. To public health officials who make a mistake. And how they What someone's death between covert and the flu. I'm not willing to grant that. To someone who sees a gunshot victim and says, Well, covert. Let's mark that is a covert death. That, of course, is absurd. Right? You don't need to do any additional study. Flu versus covert death. Okay, I get it. We should have a nuanced conversation about that because we are creating policy based on numbers that are potentially very wrong. Or even significantly wrong or maybe even a little bit wrong. Whatever it happens to be. There are public policy implications of that. I'm willing to give some little bit of leeway there. But the conspiracy theories are that people are apparently lying and the covering up the low covert debts. And they're pretending that the flu deaths are actually cova death. And they're doing this on purpose because I don't know why that aspect doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. The idea before was that it would help by then win. Elections right. It would help him and other Democrats win the election. Showing how out of Control Cove it is. Look at all those dead people. Get out out of control. This pandemic is given to Biden. Well, Biden won. The election is over. So why would they continue with this line? And then you've got the people are like, Oh, this is the great reset. Yeah, but you've got total control of the house and the Senate and the White House. Gonna be dismantling portions of capitalism without needing to kill a whole bunch of people. With the flu. Okay, now, if anything the way I was thinking about it When you just because in this conspiracy, the people are dying. It's actually the flu and not cove it as if, by the way, that's a good thing. When then the conspiracy be and it would be so much easier to not be outed. Just to say the flu virus is way worse than we thought. And oh, my gosh, Not only do we have a pandemic, but now we also have a particularly virulent strain of the flu. When you just do that.
