"Bet online where the game starts. The chiefs could barely beat the charges. They tried to lose that game about 7 times. The Steelers wanted really ugly game against the Titans. The ravens almost beat the packers with a bunch of their backups. So let's be honest. This is anyone. This is anyone's year. This is anyone's year. There is not one team in the NFL that looks like they could steamroll their way to the playoff through the playoffs. Not one. The chiefs are the number one seed and they it makes sense, right? Because they have Patrick Mahomes. They have Andy Reid. They have a team in place that has been to multiple super bowls. They've been in the last three AFC championship games. So the steadiness is going to get you through a tough season, but that offense is still struggling. And no disrespect to the chief defense, they've been incredible and they've really stepped it up, but that is not a complex defense. It's difficult to figure out. So you run into a bill Bella check or John Harbaugh or Mike Tomlin. Somebody with a lot of playoff experience, you've seen this team a ton. I'm not sure spagnol is going to be able to put together a defense. It's just impossible to figure out. Moving on a little bit from the Patriots, who I'm just simply not worried about at this point because again there's just until if something goes wrong against the bills and whatever else they've got the bills, Jaguars and dolphins ahead. Could they lose the dolphins game short? Could they lose their bills game? Sure. Are they going to lose the next three? Of course not. They're in the playoffs. Seeding aside they're in the playoffs. So I'm just, I can't linger on that too much. Moving on to the contender pretender, narrative across the league, you know, let's take a look at the cardinals who lost an insane game to the lions this week. The Cardinals were without Deandre Hopkins, and it's pretty clear that Kyler Murray has been struggling since he came back. He is just not a 100% from his injury. Also, you have an unproven coach with cliff Kingsbury, so they are faltering. The defense has not been the same since JJ watt got hurt, shocker. But they are a team that should be able to withstand the loss of Deandre Hopkins and still win a game in Detroit. So that's not really an excuse, right? Deandre Hopkins hasn't even been there most prolific receiver this year. Christian Kirk and AJ green have been more prolific this season. They've been more consistent this season than Deandre Hopkins. So at this point, Deandre Hopkins is a luxury. He should always be a luxury. You can't need him to win games. So yeah, they are struggling. They could be slipping. No one is putting them in an NFC championship game anytime soon until we see how the rest.

Cam Newton vs. Mac Jones: Where Patriots QB Competition Stands

"The other side. I it's a more interesting. Quarterback is a quarterback competition in new england. What is the sense. You get the dynamic between cam. Newton and mack jones. Yes quarterback competition. We can call it that cam. Newton is the starter plated limited amount of time against the washington football team. And then as you mentioned mack jones and it's very important not only to listen to what bill bella checks says but what he does and what he did was put back jones out there with the first team offensive line for a couple of plays at the end of his at the first half against the washington football team and then he had max jones run the two minute drill the no huddle offense and that he did with command and obviously precision and they were very impressed with that but right now what he wants to see what bill belichick wants to see and he said this the other day he to see the whole team but particularly the quarterback play faster react faster execute faster and what better way to do that than enjoying practices with the philadelphia eagles and then a preseason game on thursday night but yes there is a competition and we'll have to see how this goes in the next couple of weeks but my money is on cam. Newton starting the season and mack jones quickly getting up to speed and pushing cam newton for the starting job.

"Player performances at 11 45 plus whiskey Wednesday at 11 45. Don't decided about it. Sal Paolantonio was covered all of Tom Brady's Super Bowls. He's covering. Another one will join us in about 10 minutes. It's Carmen in your coat sat down her. Steve what up, Stevie? Hey, guys. You know when I heard you talk to her to their, um about the first quarter, huh? Tom Brady's career he had given really scored much in the first quarter. They've got everything in my opinion to do with Bill Bella, check it could and I don't think that, Bruce, no. Risk it no biscuit. Areas is in that thing. Sanitary. I mean, he's a guy who's much from are likely to take chances, and therefore I kind of disagree with your assessment. And I would I would like to go over because I think that as makers they're gonna tend to be more Conservative about it, and you can have a chance to kiss. What's what's the over under in the first quarter. You know it is 10 and the juice is heavier to the over. It's minus 1 25 for the over. It's minus 105 to the under. So you're right and about how the bookmakers have set it up. Yeah, I like I like the only because I think areas is a guy who was going to give you an opportunity to go over pretty easily. Go, Stevie. Thanks, buddy. And these. That's what I'm saying. These are spread your money out on these. Nobody telling you to go on but 100 bucks on all of these, You know, I still think unless there's a punt return or something crazy that happens. You need a crazy score in the first quarter to get your over because normally one long drive one way or the other. That doesn't and seven exactly like that to happen again. This is a pretty Good trend in the big game. In the last 20 years. You add some more context to Steve's point. The when areas was the offensive coordinator of the Steelers in 2009 when they played in the Super Bowl against the Arizona Cardinals. Steelers scored three points in the first quarter points. They lead three. Nothing about that. See now you also have this Spagnola versus Brady effect. Remember Todd Furman, Drop that nugget on us. Last week about the success the few matchups if you had to head matchups over the years, well, one more very famously in the Super Bowl when he was with the Giants was bags there for both Just one right one, But you got a kick out of it. You got a head coaching job after that, believe he did, didn't he? ST Louis, Right. Was it? He'd say, Lewis. I think that's right. So, so Spagnola has done well against Tom Brady. The times they've butted heads, right? Matched up against you. Yeah, Let's say hi to Joe and Maquina on ESPN. 1000 Hello, Job, and Steve Peck knows the defensive coordinator for Kansas City. If anybody's wondering Josie Maquina. What's up, Joe? Hey, fellas, What's going on? How you doing, man? You're involved. So your next year, maybe you can get into my cousin's pull. She runs a pretty good 1 25 different ways you can win. And if you if you automatically get double numbers, 112255 Accepted 88 You win your You win your money back right away. 100 bucks back, all right away. Oh, that's kind of nice. I like that one, and then each quarter actual in reverse, obviously, But then he had a point each score and two point score each quarter. It goes up and then also She does total rushing yards and total passing yards. For the end of the game. Do these get crazy? I like the way that suppressed. Sounds like a pretty good thing. I mean, one morning show every score gets paid off every score 00. Gets paid. How so? When the game kicks all minimum, there's an average of 29 over the course of time. I think there's an average of 29 scores like 00 Field goal. 30 Touchdown. It would be set 63 and then 73 with the extra point. Yes, yes, I'm one of them gets paid, and they average them out over the course of the game. Well, they did. There's a lot of work, sending what they're worth. If there's more than the number right then, then they'll go in the average it all out, you know, like, say there's 42 lead changes, right? Well, they'll just do that. At the end, it will be 42 divided by whatever the number is, and everybody who had it will win that much money. But say when it's a 13 to 3 game, like was a couple years ago, invited by the money in the pot. You mean in person? Yeah, the person that had the final One the rest of the money. You know, if it's too little, they don't do that. They're always say if you gotta serve, I got 25. That's good. And if there's only six scores the guy that has the finals, the guy that wins the rest. That's good boy you are getting creative with some of these square pulls model. A lot of craziness. That's a lot of accounting. That goes. Eddie's gonna win that one head is in the North Shore and ESPN 1000. What's up, buddy? Hey, guys, How you doing? Questioned? Opposed everybody make a poor Whatever. If the Shawn Watson started on Tampa Bay Buccaneers this year, would he have brought them to the Super Bowl? That's tough stuff. Question. You don't know. Thanks, Eddie. Yeah. I mean, you don't. I think he's terrific. I think to Sean the year did Sean put up was remarkable. Look, it is touchdown interception ratio on a bad team. Look at the yard. See through for the Jets per game question. Could be asked if Aaron Rodgers, right. Was with Tampa. Would they be with her act with that? Mexi can't guarantee that. Yeah. I can't guarantee it. I think they'd be awfully good. I don't know how else to put it to Shawn Watson is elite. There aren't you probably can't name 54 or five quarterbacks in this league that are better than Shawn Watson, period. I've said this multiple times, he's a top five quarterback, undeniably denying. Now it's matter of what you want to quibble is the 2nd 3rd or fourth after like Russell Wilson because we'll put my homes out of home and then it's like Wilson and Roger Wilson Rogers. And I mean, honestly, who else made that point? He's right in there. Yes, he is. He's in there with Brady Brady with anybody. Reasons older and done. I mean, it looks like breeze is done. I mean, he robs his burger could be done. Yes, he's just that good. The new slew quarterbacks, you know, somebody will be talking about Josh Allen coming up now. Yeah. Josh is working his way into that because of retirements. Josh Alan starts moving up a year from now we could be talking about. We're gonna be talking about the kid out Justin Herbert that talked about Justin. Her business conversation with another year like you just have Sherbert..

"It's time talking about football Get you ready for the Super Bowl? We'll do it again next week with any Freddie and I quote, so picks picks football dot com. Kind of get a primary this week. Kind of get what he's thinking about maybe the week before, like and change in the next week, But we'll get those thoughts from Dennis. Dennis. How are you? Well, First of all that, you know that I usually defend head coach is right. I mean, I go back of you and I were on Seattle when they decided to throw a pass at the goal line. I thought that was a good call while everybody was keying on beast mode. It didn't work. I remember when Bill Bella check went for the The first down at the 33 yard liners, something against the cold and Peyton and completed the past but didn't get the first down and they lost the game and even this year and rods Houston, Texas, went for the two point conversion when they were playing Tennessee. I thought that was a good call, even though it didn't work out in the long term, but How in the world on fourth down from the eight with two minutes and six seconds or whatever was in the game. Do you kick a field goal seriously? That's a great question. We've been asking that all week. Well, not all week, but that's what we started the week off with. Basically, I do not understand. I mean, was it brain Freeze, or I mean, because even if you You know? Okay. You make the field all you still need a touchdown. You still need a touchdown, And so if you would have gone forward and hadn't made it, Okay, now it's the Buccaneers. You still have your three time outs and the two minute warning. So you get the ball back if you don't let him get it first. And you've got him at the eight yard line. It's the guy. It's the guy at the cast, Dennis kicking off after a field like this stunning. It's the guy the guy on guy and it's a guy at the guillotine. Who says, I just want a glass of water. Yeah. Just give me a glass of water half time line after line. I did have the Packers at minus six for the halftime And that did push on that line. Maybe Maybe look floor had that that That would be the only logical explanation for why you would kick a field goal. They're just stunning to see a head coach make that kind. And it's Aaron Rodgers. You know, it's Aaron Rodgers that from the eight yard line, you always know you make a mistake as a head coach. If you look across the field and your opponent is celebrating your decision exactly what I was saying. Exactly when you do something they're happy about. You made the wrong decision, no matter how it turns out, but there was no win there. Make it miss. It doesn't make any difference. You still need a touchdown, right? So if you would have got the touch down there and missed the two point conversion You know? Okay, Now you only need to feel go. So now you only need to feel go if that's the case. But it's just it's absolutely I have you has anybody asked what was there any logical reason for that that anybody's answered with any Sense of sense at all. I think we'll just start with that words. Really? Nope. That's pretty much it. You pretty much sudden. We sent it back in there is a suitable this is good. I get to relive the worst pick I ever made in my life do tell. Well, I took the but I took the Raiders over the Buccaneers. The whole 37 new and it was singularly the worst pick of my life for every reason possible that the knowledge of Gruden going to Tampa Bay and knowing the Raiders And I had made the pick before I found out that Barrett had gone down to Mexico and got lost in a bar. All that stuff that transpired that singularly the worst pick of my life. What was the rationale? What did what did you think going in? Because ever mean all of us have a pick that we look at afterwards and good grief. What was I thinking? But we'll have decent. Hopefully decent, rational before we get to that pick. What were you thinking before the pick? Well, what I was looking at was how well the Raiders were playing offensively. They had just blown out Tennessee At home, and, um, I thought that the Tampa Bay They opened that that Syria's against the 40 Niners. You might remember their postseason and beat them, I think was 31 to 6 or so we had him that day on. Then they went into Philadelphia and the Eagles were favored. And they beat the Eagles and at that time 20 years ago. When that there was almost 20 years ago, my thinking was that if you if you had a big win You know, An unexpected win is an underdog. That you that you were likely to come up flattening next game that has proven is yours. Go office come by not to be the soundest of logic. Step out of that speed edge in that game. They were so much faster. There was no fun to watch. It was like, Oh, this game's over. At least you'd have to sweat it. You know? Yeah. I didn't sweat it. I had like 80 people in my house that day, and they were all looking me going. I'm sorry. Shut up! Get out of my house You did for a living We doing here I was doing I was on the sidelines for That game, and I didn't know it until you know afterwards when the NFL films recap came out and You heard John Lynch, you know, calling out basically formations of what they were going to run, so I'll go see him and all that kind of stuff. But I remember that day standing on the sidelines, watching going man is sure does seem like they know exactly what's coming. Because it was it was somewhat competitive for it hadn't gotten out of hand and the first quarter And then after that, it's good that the wheels fell off. But when it started to happen, it was just a sense of man. Sure sing. It was like they were running routes for receivers E had learned everything. And I've never made that mistake again. I've always taken into account. You know a coach that knows their opponent. We won a game earlier. Was it this year or last year when we took Matt Patricia over Bill Bella Jack because he would have the advantage of knowing the Patriots and Bella check wouldn't have any advantage of knowing to try to his last year. And the Detroit upset the Patriots, and it was the second or third week of the season last year and and so that's paid off a number of times, but that Because a coach that's left an organization has the advantage of knowing the personnel he's playing, whereas the coach that Eyes. Still, where he's always been, has no advantage of knowing necessarily. What is former assistant is going to be doing with his new squad. What's your initial? My initial and again, I could change and I could change three times in a week of my initial thoughts on this is like Tampa, played really well in their defense, played with the defense more specifically played. Played really well. I thought they caught caught a couple breaks. I think the fourth today was one of them. I think the defense at the end of the half by the Packers was just abysmal. I don't know how you give up a touchdown. In that situation, they forced the fumble and scram..

But this is why, in part, I was not going to do weekly updates on the standings, comparing the Patriots and the box from week to week and then updating some stupid to man power ranking. Good thing, too, because for the second half of that season, the power ranking would have been the most idiotic thing ever because while the Patriots were looking more and more anemic on offense and getting smoked by the Rams and the bills, the Bucks started to roll, and now they're in the Super Bowl. "Oh, Good morning, Ada. How you doing? I'm doing great. Thanks so much for joining us. What is the temperature in New England? Where does this fall people rooting for or against Brady in the Super Bowl. I think most people here are rooting for Brady in Tampa in Tampa's kind of, you know, Underdog story to start with, but the fact that times their quarterback, and there's still so much good feeling about him. And with the pages being long gone, I think a lot of a transferred over to him. I mean, there was a split early on about You're choosing sides. Do you root for the Patriots? You would for Tom etcetera. With the Patriots so far out of it most of the time. There's still a few haters who hate watch Brady want to see bad things happen to him, But that's the diminished group and it's It's been a loser's lament for those who try to do it because he just keeps winning is we see So what has this done to the narrative about Bill Bella check and the Patriots cutting bait with with Brady after last season? Well, certainly bills under a lot of heat right now, the fact that they didn't have a line of succession they didn't have. Ah, Plan B. And we know it wasn't a student because they wouldn't let him play even a gunpoint late in the year when it was obvious they were out of it. Cam Newton was underachieving wildly. So it's not stick him and it wasn't Newton and me. They waited till the last week to bring him in at LoDo, and there'll be else passed on. I mean, we saw why He couldn't throw and you know he was a great soldier and and get all the work and build was pumping his tires all year. I can't imagine they come back to that next year, especially and you know this above all of you, but with everything that's going on out there with Quarterbacks coming and going and I just got to think that whoever the quarterback of the pictures is he's not here right now. Interesting because in your piece about this, you said for Bella check, it feels worse than spy gate. Worse than deflate gate worse than even the Super Bowl losses. Why for Bill Does this feel so kind of cataclysmic? Well, the last couple weekends, you know, with them winning. It was champion winning at New Orleans. And then the Green Day. You know, it's right now. The easy narrative is Bill never won anything without Tom. Look, what time could do. You can put him anywhere and he gets right back where I was was so all of it was Tom. I dispute that. I think the larger share of the credit pie goes to Belichick over the 20 years. I do. This is the NFL the coach of the system that's more important than any one player. In my view. This isn't the end via so I'm hanging on to that. But that's a you know. No one wants to hear right now and certainly You know, Bill's gotta gotta get on the comeback trail. And you know Tom's gonna keep me in time. I'm sure. But yes. Oh, for him right now. It's just It's gotta stick in him a little bit. You know, people interviewing Brady's dad me saying that I was probably on the hot seat up there. I mean, that's just got to really break his chops in a big way. He hates that. And Sean is he joins us from the Boston Globe. Here's one thing that I was thinking about when they drafted Jimmy Garoppolo. They thought that Brady was on the decline, and it's certainly motivated Brady to become a better version of himself. Is it possible that this breed that we're seeing this year would not have happened in New England anyway? Because he needed a kick in the pants again that people didn't believe in him or he had revenge out for the Patriots. Elevate his play the spot well, given what he had here to play with, It probably wouldn't have been a lot better. I think they wouldn't wanna cook more, but they wouldn't be in the Super Bowl. In my view. I mean, he has a lot more talent there. And you know, he got things there that he wasn't allowed to do here. He was not allowed to be coach and general manager here, and he is there And he's having quote unquote fun, You know, And that's the kind of thing that again just goes right up Those key stir, you know, Go have your fun. I mean, wasn't enough fun winning six Super Bowls going to nine. So Yeah, there's there's beyond. Then Tom had a new level of commitment going to the off season workouts and just, you know, plus he had He had better offensive weapons as everybody knows, and that was said as soon as he chose that place. And they underachieved. They were clown show and that got better as it went on, And he saw the weapons even without Antonio Brown at the end, that he just he has so many ways to go, and that wasn't here. He was very proud of the last year to a New England and he didn't have much around him. Yesterday's Hall of Fame vote for Cooperstown once again brings up the question of what do you do with the bonds? What do you do with Clemens? What do you do with upcoming Alex Rodriguez? And of course, Big Poppy is well, you cover the entirety of big poppies career. What will you do with David Ortiz? Next year? Yeah, I'm a no on him on. I understand that won't be popular, but he's going to get in without my little boat. So I'm not worried about. You know, there won't be any controversy about that. But I've Steve. I've been consistent on the steroid guys. I've never been to any of them, and I know there's ambiguity this levels of it. I didn't even vote for Pudge Rodriguez Bagwell or The piazza and there wasn't as much on them. It says some other guys, It's very sketchy with some guys. Do you know that? The only test it Sammy Sosa and failed is the one that Ortiz failed. So I mean, but everybody's like all Sami's dirty look at that body..

"She wins half over the championships. Now it's a limited field he's playing against because it Z either a 10 or 12 team and a fellow at one point Maybe he got up to 14 teams by the end of the sixties, but you know he's not competing against 30 or 32 or 28 teams. So Lombardi's his reputation nonetheless, is so far above everybody else in terms of coaching, because what he did in such a short amount of time and that the Packers immediately fell off the cliff as soon as he left. I don't think that he reads ever gonna catch Vince Lombardi. Some would say that Bill Bella check has already caught Lombardi. I tend to disagree, but I could be biased. Don't love the Patriots. That's Understatement. And so I think Bella check could be the second best head coach of all time. But again, Bella check success comes over a 20 year period and a failed 1st 10 year in the NFL's a head coach. Lombardi didn't End up coaching, you know for the Steelers and go to 10 and two or something like that. He ends up coming of the NFL immediately winning Super Bowls and immediately developing Hall of Famers. Belichick ends up Has over 20 years. Ah, guy with mortuary peon ships. He has six to Vince Lombardi's five, but it also took him twice as long. So you could say well free agency DEA, and it's much more competitive now, and there's 31 other teams to compete against, that's all fine. I just think with the amount of success that Lombardi had right away. And how I would even say, And this is a compliment to Belichick. I don't think Belichick thinks he's better than Vince Lombardi. I think he believes the Vince Lombardi of the greatest head coach of all time. I do think Andy Reid is going no matter what happens here is going to be considered ever better than Lombardi or Bill Belichick. Now you start getting into the Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh. Tom Landry. Guys. That's your next crew. Don Shula. And all those guys have this larger than life reputation over Shadows over the NFL. You know, Don Shula's the all time winningest coach Undefeated 72 Dolphins. You have Tom Landry's fedora and was the head coach and Dallas for 25 years, 30 years, maybe almost 30 years, I think And two Super Bowl championships and five Super Bowl appearances and building that franchise from the ground up as an expansion team. You have chucked all who won four Super Bowls in six years. Of Bill Walsh. You completely revolutionized offense in many ways and created the modern NFL offense and won three Super Bowls in just a decade's work as well. So Think Andy Reid has been coaching a long time. He's got one ring into Super Bowl appearances. He's great. That championship last year made him a Hall of Famer. But I think if you're gonna start cracking into the Landry, No Shula Walsh And then anywhere. I don't think you'll ever get higher than Bella check in Lombardy. That Reed is going to have to win, Probably two more Super Bowls. Now that's in play. Have Andy Reid finishes with three Super Bowl rings and four Super Bowl appearances. There's a conversation to be had there of him in that upper pantheon. But I think it would take that. And what McNabb was saying was. Basically he doesn't have to win anything else, And he's already going to be in there as long as he coaches the homes for the next five years, which You still gotta I think, Do something with it, Holmes when you when you're coaching him, Whereas you ever think that 80 Reno Andy Reid is hurt by perception here because He had been very good but lost in the big Games for so many years before he cracked through. So that kind of built up his reputation, But also he's a bit of a caricature because the mustache because of the size of him Because he likes to be self deprecating. You know those other guys? They're also serious. Chuck Noll and Tom Landry and Don Shula and Bill Belichick take themselves so seriously or took themselves so seriously. Do you think that we will ever consider Andy Reid, a top three coach ever top three is just too hard to get to when you rattle off all those other names that being said I guess it's on the table. I don't know how long it to Reed wants to go that side by side with Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes becomes Hey, the greatest quarterback of all time, and they go on some incredible run here. Where They get their Super Bowl this year, and they win. And maybe somehow the chief's become this team where they win four Super Bowls in a row, or, you know, five of six and they go on a crazier better dynasty than the Patriots had early on, I guess then we could revisit it. But the fact that we're even having this discussion were a year ago Heading into this weekend, we were talking about 80 Reed, always knowing for choking in this spot and time clock management issues. And the fact that a year later we could have players talking about how he's the greatest of all time and look what's on the table is just a wild pendulum swing for me in a year. I think Read in my homes have the potential over the next five years or so to win multiple championships that they could certainly win one this year, they could win two of them over the next five years. That would be a remarkable run and have three championships in six years or something like that, and And those are those are remarkable accomplishments that you would start talking about Andy Reid with those other guys, but First they got to do that. 2nd 2nd. You're not gonna elevate him into over Bella Checker Lombardi, no matter even if that happens. On the phones. Don is in Oregon this morning here on CBS Portrait of Don dropped. Okay. "Stop by. Aaron Rodgers, Certainly my favorite quarterback over the past, I'd say 20 years 15 20 years. I've said many a times about select Aaron Rodgers over Tom Brady. All things considered giving the chance and that's something that will have an opportunity to discuss later on this week. That NFC championship game. And it looks like it's going to be a 50% chance of snow up in Green Bay on Sunday. And it's not to say that that Tom Brady is not used to playing up in New England, where it's cold as hell. But his ass is old is how at 43 years old, So that's a matchup that I look forward to. And speaking of Tom Brady. It's interesting. We all know his head coach Bruce Arians right now. He pretty much says whatever comes to his mind. Bruce Arians says, however, he feels And he's graduated as the season is going on. He went from pointing the finger at Tom Brady. And now that they're on the precipice of the Super Bowl. He's pretty much you know, patting him on the back. And while he's panning Tom Brady on the back I don't know if he's intentionally trying to needle You know Bill Bella checking the Patriots, but He's just telling the truth. He's being honest and I'll let you know what he said. Bruce Arians was asked about Tom Brady in this first year. Up until now. This is what he had to say. Consummate leader. He has been all year. He has that air of confidence that permeates through our team every day. I allow him Toby himself. Like New England. They didn't allow him to coach. I allowed him to coach. I just sit back sometimes and I watch This isn't the first time that Bruce Arians has Kanda said. To good or bad. Hey, Tom Brady's He's making the calls. When we would hear the stories throughout the course of the season about Tom Brady, airing the football out and leading the interceptions or overthrowing receivers. Will come across is Hey, Bruce Arians. Why is it's Tom Brady out? They're just throwing the ball willy nilly. Bruce Arians would say. How you asking me for? He threw the ball. He called the play. He missed it. Talk to him. Not in those exact words, That's how it came off. It's just funny how he didn't just say I allow him to be himself. I even allowed him to coach a little bit. He had to go ahead and throw New England into the mix. He had to go out there and reference of Bill Belichick, who certainly has his own issues and problems. Right before we went to break. We did have a caller who said I'm looking for the New England Patriots to bounce back. Bounced back to what This legitimately shows you If you ever needed or if you ever had a conversation. About Bella check with Brady and who needed who throw it out the window. Good coach and a good coach of good coaches or whatever if you don't have talent. It's just fax all day. Sample Bay Buccaneers. Right now we're getting closer to the Super Bowl. They are one win away from the Super Bowl, not because of a head coach. But because of the talent Because of the talent behind center, and that's Tom Brady. So Tom Brady deserves all whole hell of a lot of credit for what he's been able to do. And we'll spend more time later on this week before I roll out. Justice relates to Tom Brady. The Packers Aaron Rodgers, who I think wins that serious who I think goes to the Super Bowl and who I think goes home. Get into that later on this weekend. I just found it odd that Bruce Arians Just says what's on his mind. And let's hope that when or lose, you know, Tom Brady doesn't get thrown under the bus. And that Bruce Arians, you know? Well, for my sake, I hope he does say something funny. Win or lose. Hope he gives us something to talk about. Speaking of something to talk about. It's all for me to roll out. Miss some of the biggest sports stories of the day. It's time for the rollout with J R Sport brief. That's right. I'm getting ready to roll out. We spent a whole lot of time tonight, talking about teams that are going down like the Texans. We spent some time talking about a team that's going up. Like the Browns, and I gotta mention something that happened in college today. We know Pruitt was fired from the volunteers. Violations when it comes to recruiting And on Dan Patrick show today, he says of source told him that during recruiting visits That the players would walk away with stacks of money and McDonald's bags. I want to believe it. I want to say it's true. It wouldn't surprise me. They couldn't be more creative like they didn't just want to give the kid's backpack say that want to put it in? And and that I mean bags, suitcases well, don't Beckham Jr was legitimately handing ls you players cash on the sideline of their games after they won the championship last year. So I guess ah McDonald's bag. Any little thing that helps And wild news.

"Brady and not just Brady. But the rare quarterbacks who are so special And if you let them be them you can share in the limelight you can share in the glory. It's hard for me to separate and really to know, because because Tom Brady is the greatest QB of all time. There's a real chance of 43 with a new team separated from the only organization he'd ever known. Until now he's gonna win another freaking Super Bowl. That's It's absurd and ridiculous. I did a love letter to him on the radio yesterday. The pain me A dark evil valentine. I didn't want to send, but but I had to And, uh, I don't want to diminish. Bill Bella checked on that. Despite the whatever they were six in 10 years, we'll see. What evaluation, one of them just really interesting about the Patriots. Divorce in the relationship to Brady. Bill Bella checks on an offensive guy. That isn't how he made his bones. Now the true geniuses. Learn what they need to learn. I mean, one of the things that make it likely. Elon Musk is going to be the first trillionaire in world history is his ability. Whatever you think of the guy. To pick a subject material a random subject and master it and learn it and no one be an expert at it. No reason that a bill below check over here is the head coach who began his defensive guy can't become highly functional, if not better, offensively and especially the CEO in a position That's not a salary comes from And yet He is credited with and he should be the catalyst for the culture and all the things that led to Tom Brady being Tom Brady as he should be. And one of the things that has defined that from the very beginning all the way through Brady's exit. Was Bill Belichick's ability to evaluate Brady and the larger context of of the hoodies, Geniuses, an evaluator. And another thing that we thought And maybe it still does define Bella Jack is the greatest NFL coach of all time was the culture of the team over the self. The ability and an ego driven world. That ego driven business business of ambitious people looking ambition plus spotlight plus high competition leads to insecurity in any business. The NFL included. Around these guys, but around radios eight different. It ain't different. Confident once a special cause they're rare and Belle eject ability, theoretically, not just to evaluate talent, but to get people to buy into no ego. And yet At the end. The Patriots way. And Bill Belichick failed to both those things. Think about the evaluation, the football evaluation failure of not seeing what Tom Brady could still do. And the ego failure of not being able, if you're Bill Belichick The subject gate your own ego when you and Brady got sideways if it's about football, but about the team about winning And Brady's annoying as hell and he is But he's good enough that he could make Bruce areas of Lucas to pull level head coach. You make it work. He didn't How do you separate What Brady did from Bill Belichick. I don't have a good answer. And I think we're going to get Look at this concept. One of the Again. I said Dark Valentine. I'll say it sort of dark offshoots of this great this remarkable run. Of all time. Great quarterbacks is the possibility it's going to expose the level to which they made the careers of men who did not deserve it. We've already seen. This is Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers. Mike McCarthy got some credit right air. He raised up Aaron Rodgers is a pop, and he taught him everything he knew. And then their egos clash. Maybe. Or maybe Aaron Rodgers was the goal was Charlie's golden ticket. Maybe it was the lottery numbers coming up. I mean, I don't know how many lottery winners think they won because they deserved it. But what happened was they got really freaking lucky. That's one Michael Carr, the Aaron Rodgers. Let's look at John Elway, the G and he's an amazing quarterback. Don't me wrong, but as a football player personnel look at the genius. We made it to a Super Bowl with Elway in charge, and we won one. It was everything. He's amazing. All Peyton retired. We suck. We suck. Go sell cars again. That's too That's two Bill Belichick. I'm not writing Bella check off yet. I'm a believer, but I'm starting to be a doubting Thomas of a believer. As the crow made its noise a few times yet, Um I can I stop with the doubts Maybe. Maybe not. We'll see. And keep an eye on Sean Payton. Keep an eye on Sean Payton. My doubts of Sean Payton are are Very high. Not necessarily because of Sean Payton's track record, though I think there's some reasons there since that Super Bowl, the dude's gone 11 seasons. He's won five playoff games in 11 years. Man says he was terrible five. Not gonna math. That is not even one every other year. Even I could do that math. Never, too in the same season. And he had Drew Brees and not just broken, you know, Air P octogenarian. Drew Brees. You know how when you're making a joke of the body about being an old man you like, Look up the cartoon guy and the Walker. I just in pictures, Drew Brees. Now it is the same effect. It's easier to find on search. Before that, and the level of talent and the roster. Probation, Highly celebrated genius. Amazing. We're gonna We're gonna find out. We'll find out Jamie's Winston, huh? You're either a genius or you got a lot of ego. I saw that story of Cam Newton and I much bigger believer and Cam Newton, then James Winston. Much bigger believer. Andy Reid deserves all the credit the world not trying to ran Andy Reed's parade. I'm not I'm not Just going to say.

"You can hit me on Twitter at the real Gresh G. R S. H even in Philly, who I here could be the next head coach of the Eagles, even on the grass show on CBS Sports radio. What's up, He Had just want to say that. I think Tom Brady's like Her two callers say that if Aaron Rodgers was in Ah! New England they would have one more championship. Rogers don't think that's true. I think Already puts in Tom Brady worked the hardest. In the NFL, and you, like put Put into everything he does. So I think like he's hard work in the NFL, but I wanted to say that I think Going to be a Packers build Super Bowl because It's gonna be like, um She, Josh Allen, having better planet can build the expending a place and Patrick my home. If you're Patrick Holmes making is making plays. To Josh Allen. Just do you better and then Aaron Rodgers, learning from his mistakes. Last time he played Santa. Yeah. The Aaron Rodgers eat. Thank you for in the Aaron Rodgers piece of it. I don't worry about his performance. I'll be honest with you again. I don't necessarily think it's going to come down to Brady versus Rogers. I really don't. I think it's more going to come down to which of their defense is can get a stop. You know, is Tampa's defense. Great? No, but I think they can rush the passer. They can be disruptive. And maybe really the success for both football teams lies in the running game. Because, you know, couldn't you see? I mean, look at what happened in New Orleans and in Tampa today? Yeah, there were some fits and spurts on offense, but you had some turnovers on one side need. Some teams have tried to run it. And I thought Tampa ran the ball pretty effectively. Today, you know, wasn't for 250 yards or anything was plenty enough to be able to win the game. When maybe that's going to be the real test of these quarterbacks in this NFC championship game between Brady and Rogers. Maybe the real test is going to be Neither guy is going to throw the ball 50 times, but can both quarterbacks while mixing in the run play efficiently enough when their teams need to call on them? Let's go to Victor, who's in Knoxville, Tennessee, on the grass show, CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Victor? Hey, grass. What's going on tonight, man? You're sounding good out here. I appreciate your brother. What do you have there this evening? A little a little stat. I don't know if you noticed it or not. I'm sure you probably have. But You know Brady's been in nine Super Bozo he started in. He's won six of them. The second most Super Bowls that a quarterback has started was John Elway at five. Guess what. Brady's one more Super Bowls and what the second guy He's even in It's really amazing when you think about it, right. That's an amazing stat. Right there. It really is. And you know this year is going to tell the tale. I mean, he ain't got Bella check within these in a different place. There's no deflate gate. There's no lip readers out there. You know if he does at this time, that kind of stuff gets squashed for the G O A. T. You know, I think I think you're right, Victor. I think you're right now. Look, this is just me. But I would have thought hanging. What was it like 35 points in the second half of the A F C championship game when there was the issue of the Flake gate, and those balls were completely normal. Like I would have thought most normal people would have said Well, sure, still didn't matter in the second half. And if that was a part of the magic elixir for Brady, it really ain't that big a deal. It's just a matter of comfort, which is really what it is and what Awas but another story for another time. I I hope I hope I do. I really hope that there is a portion of sports America. That can get behind Tom Brady. If he ends up leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl. I hope there is because I don't think this is a nefarious guy and look They're gonna be a lot of people. They're gonna blast Bill Bella check because of the way the Brady era ended in all that. If we're gonna be real about this What Bill Belichick was guilty of. Was something that he lives by which is it's better to get rid of a player a year early than a year late. But his biggest mistake Woz he thought based on what we've seen over the course of NFL history. That is the quarterback started to approach 38 years old, That quarterback started to slip a little bit. You know Bill Bella checks evaluation of Tom Brady. I don't think it was necessarily this guy can't play. It was Bill Belichick time to project ahead that There is eventually going to be drop off. And if I can maximize the asset now and allow my organization to keep pointing because I think I found my guy and Garoppolo. It wasn't this quarterback needs to go. It's I need to and hey says it all the time, but the whole, you know, I'm gonna do what's best for the football team. As much as people may not understand it. I really think in the mind of Bill Belichick, it was very much that that for the betterment of the football team so that I can win 10 years down the road. I need to have this guy Garoppolo in here is the quarterback and yeah, there'll be a drop off from Brady. But we're good enough overall that we're still going to be competitive across the board. I really do think that's what he was thinking. Good Chef. Oh, no, no, just just to add to kind of what you were saying. The biggest I would say, uh, rear view mirror blind spot that Bill Belichick has is that he lumps in Tom Brady with everybody else. Tom Brady. Ain't everybody else. You're right. Tom Brady is Tom Brady. Michael Jordan is Michael Jordan. Don Rickles is Don Rickles Barbara Walters is Barbara Walters. Michael Phelps. Roger Federer, You get the point. All six of those, and there's others that come to mind Gresh. As long as they are on their field, doing their specific talent. They're always going to be one of the best to ever do it. It doesn't matter what age they do aggression. Jack Nicholas. Um, he might have 90. You won the masters of 46. I think he might have finished in fifth when he was 60. But you, but you get you get my point. Yeah, Yeah, the these. I think, Bill Bella check looked at Tom Brady to your point. As if he were just like a lot of other players that he's dealt with over the years. If you remember when Matt Cassel was training, there was another guy who was thrown into that it was Mike Vrabel. Because he looked at Grable and thought, OK, the guy can still go..

"Behaviors of viruses and infectious diseases over at U Dub medicine. He said that this isn't just happening here in the states happening all over the place. Just a Puget sound thing That's not just Washington State. It's the entire country. In fact, it's most of our planet. There has never been recorded history in the United States Been a year like this, since we have been tracking influenza and pneumonia type illnesses. There's never been a year like this so Isn't there an easy answer as to why this is happening? I mean, there's two answers aliens. It will obviously three. I guess if we're counting that one, but you're talking about from not illegal you talk about Yeah, like space invaders. People are wearing masks. Washing their hands a lot. And their social distancing. Wouldn't that naturally cut down? On flu deaths and hospitalizations. I mean, that would be one logical answer to it. But alien. Why was that? That mentioned at all and I went back and I looked at the car, but it wasn't mentioned at all. Wouldn't that be? Couldn't the doctor be all like, Well, we are in the middle of a pandemic in which everyone is being hyper vigilant. About not touching one another. They'd rather have the magic than science. They gotta be like, poof. It's gone. It's a super weird that no one Or he in that clip didn't say that number two. Here's another reality. The numbers are also probably wrong. Let's be clear about this. The numbers are not as accurate as I'm Willing to bet some people might think I'm guessing. Once you do a better examination of some of the covert deaths, you're going to see some mistaking cases that are assigned to Cove it when they should have been assigned to the flu because there are some similarities. And You know, that's where the conspiracy theory comes in. I'm willing to in a general sense. I am willing to give The benefit of the doubt. To public health officials who make a mistake. And how they What someone's death between covert and the flu. I'm not willing to grant that. To someone who sees a gunshot victim and says, Well, covert. Let's mark that is a covert death. That, of course, is absurd. Right? You don't need to do any additional study. Flu versus covert death. Okay, I get it. We should have a nuanced conversation about that because we are creating policy based on numbers that are potentially very wrong. Or even significantly wrong or maybe even a little bit wrong. Whatever it happens to be. There are public policy implications of that. I'm willing to give some little bit of leeway there. But the conspiracy theories are that people are apparently lying and the covering up the low covert debts. And they're pretending that the flu deaths are actually cova death. And they're doing this on purpose because I don't know why that aspect doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. The idea before was that it would help by then win. Elections right. It would help him and other Democrats win the election. Showing how out of Control Cove it is. Look at all those dead people. Get out out of control. This pandemic is given to Biden. Well, Biden won. The election is over. So why would they continue with this line? And then you've got the people are like, Oh, this is the great reset. Yeah, but you've got total control of the house and the Senate and the White House. Gonna be dismantling portions of capitalism without needing to kill a whole bunch of people. With the flu. Okay, now, if anything the way I was thinking about it When you just because in this conspiracy, the people are dying. It's actually the flu and not cove it as if, by the way, that's a good thing. When then the conspiracy be and it would be so much easier to not be outed. Just to say the flu virus is way worse than we thought. And oh, my gosh, Not only do we have a pandemic, but now we also have a particularly virulent strain of the flu. When you just do that. Would you just lie and say the flute of isn't that more curious to people Doesn't that are aroused our suspicions to be all like I got a conspiracy. Let us almost eradicate the flu this year. No one will pay attention to that. No one will notice that the big zero next to flu deaths when normally they're way more. Pulled the wool over there. That does not make sense. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Seriously. Theories almost never makes sense when you hold them up to reason and any sort of logic But it's a conspiracy. Jason Okay, explain it. I can't exactly so shut up. Spider. What else is trending? What's trending? You can't make this up. Even after this season, Bill Belichick was going to get a Medal of Freedom Award. That's disgusting. They were seven and nine. They were so bad. They were not good. And Bill Bella Jack is only good when he's got a marquee quarterback that knows how to play with in his system. Yeah, And they just couldn't know was good job and a little Do you write that down? I heard it on the Adam Corolla podcast. So he was supposed to get the Medal of Freedom Award from Trump. I have no idea why Bill Bella check would get the Medal of Freedom Award. This one escapes me. This one totally escapes me. The timing. Was even worse. It was supposed to happen on Thursday. Last night. You put out a statement or someone writing a statement on his behalf. Certainly the latter part of the statement was written by someone else saying Thank you, but I'm turning it down. Politics, says recently I was offered the opportunity to receive the presidential medal of Freedom, which I was flattered by out of respect for what the honor represents an admiration for prior recipients. Subsequently, the tragic events of last week occurred and the decision has been made not to move forward with the award. Horrible optics. And you would think that maybe you would just Cancel this. Announcement and after what happened last week, just for the bad optics or we're going to do it. Just do it on the you know, behind the scenes. You don't put out a press release. Don't make a big deal out of it. I don't know why they move forward with Promoting it. So, Bill Bella check or the his handlers, most likely in the front office. Said Noo. No, no, no, no, no, no. No. Where this is. No, no, no, no. Not gonna do that. And by the way, He's doing us all a favor. Imagine the means about cheating them..

"I got to get back to the national championship conversation. Alabama blew out Ohio State. What a big time exclamation point at the end of the first half for awhile. That game was close. It was 21 17, Ohio State, settle first field goal and then going into half It was 35 to 17 in that game was all but over. So from that game, there's multiple storylines. You could talk about the future of Mack Jones and how well he's going to go in the NFL draft. You talk about Devante Smith that a bare minimum being a top 10 pick. Did he go his earliest to does he go in the top five? He's definitely deserving of going in the top five. The question is just how early you also have the end of the Steve Sarkeesian era. And what is he going to do at Texas? As one of those story lines that you go through all these storylines? Nagy Harris, you would think he goes in the first round. The question is when and if not, then I'll go very early off the board in a round number two. Remember last year, Clyde ever Delaire he went 32nd overall from the champions at the time, the L S U Tigers and you saw quiet Brasileiro Gold Final pick of the first round. Maybe that could be the standing for now, she Harris if he does not go earlier. We'll have to wait and see. But clearly the big big takeaway from last night. I think the preeminent takeaway is just the legacy of Nick, Save it. Nick save it now winning his six national title at Alabama, his seventh overall in his career, because he did also when one as you know what l s U and seven national championships. He was already tied with the late great Paul Bear. Bryant was six. He gets an extra one last night and save him was already on a ridiculous level. Sometimes, though, when you get in these goat conversations, and it just depends what ever you come from? You're gonna have guys that are always be Paul Bear Bryant fans. You always have guys that will be Nick Saban fans. If you're an Alabama fan, how can't you genuflect to both? But usually in our championship culture that we're in now In the year of 2021. Some will say all shaven had to get to seven to be considered the go. I'm not going to be someone that says that, but there are some people out there. That do exist. What that thinking? So you look at and this is where we'll take it to a different angle. You look at what shavings been able to accomplish at Alabama. And in college football with seven championships, and then you see on the professional ranks. I know that his team didn't make the postseason. We saw the 20 year run of excellence, though from Bill Belichick, with the Patriots with the Patriots have been to nine Super Bowls and they've won six. So save in six with Alabama. Bill six. With the Patriots and also with the connection that they have. Working together before being friends, you will get into a conversation of what's more impressive. Saving and college what he's doing, or Bela Chick in the NFL what he's doing. And I saw that question at 11:09 P.m. Eastern, from an account that I follow Ryan Glass Spiegel. I believe it's how you say his name. It was a good job working for out kick. And that poll question. I saw it and you got to remember in the moment saved and getting all that praise that could dictate the way that the vote does play out. I thought right away. I love both guys. I'm a big fan to save. And if you listen to the show, clue, you know that I love Bill Bella check. Thought Bella check even with saving that poll question being presented as he's about to win his seven championship in college. Still thought Bella check was going to win. There's three hours left in this poll. And currently, Nick Saban has a lead. And it's by 10%. 55% for saving 45% to Bill Belichick. Here's the reason why go with Bella check. I'm trying to make. Let me make the argument first for shaving. If you're going saving, he has seven championships. Bela Chick has six. If you're going saving.

"It could be Bed. Some dudes get their nose out of joint embellish it goes and does it. And if they don't want to listen to him, then I guess that is there, right? But then, aren't they being hypocritical with same time Because again, we're all supposed to have our ears open and listen, But that really isn't what's going on in our country right now. What's going on in our country right now is if you're left, I'm gonna push my views on you. And if you're on the right, I'm gonna push my views on you. That's what it is. You're you're now not judged as a human being. You're judged by the way you think or lean politically because again were all supposed to be engaging in conversation. But the conversation doesn't go the way the person across from you once they're going to judge you and call you piece of trash. To me. That's what feels like he's going on right now and again. You know, Bela chick is getting lumped in in in all of this, And maybe it says s o year ago. Maybe it wouldn't have looked as bad. I don't know. I mean, a lot of people that are attached to this To this sitting president right now in this administration are going to be judged for a long time. But you know what's gonna happen? Life's gonna move on and we're gonna have co vid and we're gonna have a new administration that is allegedly going to fix all this stuff. And when that doesn't get fixed because we haven't had a government that's done that in the history of our country. Then. Will be complaining about that. And we'll forget about things like this. Then again, maybe some won't. Maybe some people, you know, have that much blood flow about it that they are gonna you know, disown Bill Bella check or think completely negative of negatively of him. If he goes and does this 855 to 1 to four, CBS Brown's kicked the field goal. They have a 45 29 lead. 4 28 to go fourth quarter people in Cleveland.

"Toward the sideline. Did Sean McVeigh throw a challenge flag? Can't imagine they would have told him a challenge. There's the replays show it pretty clearly bounce yet. Charging. Action challenging the ruling on the field of an incomplete pass. Oh, my goodness. Now. Was it a couple of weeks ago? Where? Bill Bella check. It was the game in Buffalo challenged the call. And it was very obvious that they were not gonna win. The challenge he faced had a shot of him on the phone upstairs, just reading whoever it was, they told him to challenge it. I don't know who told Sean McDonough challenges, but this looks very clear that the ball hit the ground and bounced up into the hands of John Johnson. It's very clearly even see the car or whatever that black stuff is. Coming off the turf. But you know what? I would have a guy tell me upstairs if the challenge it or not, And I think I went down is the worst percentage wise winning challenges of any coach that ever but side get angry with him. I would yell at him, but he was trying real hard, too. But I just didn't understand some of this stuff. Those ground up rubber pellets. They used this right, You saw it. It's like, Yeah, Yeah, This should be a pretty quick review. And it is John Husi is already on his way back out. And neither team is taking a punt team off the fields. You do not want to lose a time out that way, though, go on the field stands. It's an incomplete pass. Los Angeles will be charged a time out, and that is the first challenge. They have one left. Well, I don't think especially in a game like this. That just doesn't feel like it come down to a final possession. That's a time out. You may need in the fourth quarter. Absolutely. There's very, very valuable. And I could see it if it was questionable, But that one was pretty clear. Here's the snap to Michael Dixon Dixon with an end over end punt. Webster moving all the way was right. He's got into the 17 yard lot of the far side back across the 20 over the 25 yard line. He is hitting dropped there. Now there's a penalty flag down as well was thrown by the official here. All the near side. 54.

"The NFL wild card is on CBS and Nick. By the way, I'm pretty sure copy department to update that with the actual games themselves. I don't know why. By Tuesday. We're just vaguely referencing the games. You know the A F C clash way Just wing reads now they don't remember. You know game too. No games. So urban Meyer reportedly wants $12 Million.12 million bucks a year. Would you pay that for a guy that's never coach of the NFL before? For some reference, the highest paid head coach of the NFL, according to the Sporting News. Is Bill Bella check. 12 million bucks per year. Pete Carroll is at $11 million. Jon Gruden $10 million Sean Payton just under 10 at 9.8. John Harbaugh, number five and $9 million per year. Now Matt rule came directly out of college. Had a Baylor last year. Hold $88.86 million per year. So rule at 8.8 Harbaugh nine. Sean Payton, 9.8 Jon Gruden, a 10. He Caroline 11. Bella, check a 12. I'll tell you this. I don't want urban Meyer, Jacksonville. There's no way I'm paying him. Bill Belichick money Now the one hand you could say yeah, but doesn't cut against the salary cap. So it's only these billionaires money. It doesn't actually hurt you competitively. But my point would be if you were willing to spend $12 million Might start with one of the other coaches that are more successful that are not making 12 million bucks and say, Hey, John Harbaugh..

Patriots may soon have to deal with their first Antonio Brown issue and it has to do with his number

"We have to talk about the biggest storyline in the NFL Antonio Brown as it looks like the saga for Antonio in some ways is finally ending and in other ways. It's just beginning for number eighty four as Antonio uh-huh Brown signs a one year proved deal with the New England patriots and it's hilarious because there is so much speculation when all his shenanigans with the Oakland Raiders for going on that really it was just a grand master plan for Bill Bella check to somehow land the all world talent wide receiver in sure enough he gets released from the raiders and later that day signs deal with the New England patriots another huge weapon in the offense four. Tom Brady and this has shades of what Randy Moss did did when he was with the Oakland Raiders. Moss spent some time in Oakland during his games he played for the raiders. You could just see that the big hall of fame wide receivers hardest wasn't in it. He wasn't really producing for the raiders he was now running routes with this full heart. You can just tell that he wasn't the Randy Moss when he was sooner in Oakland and then he goes to the Patriots under Bill Belichick and has a career year a record setting year with Tom. Brady Brady threw for fifty touchdown passes does that offense was just a cold plays away from being the first team to go perfect nineteen in Oh as they were trying to catch the seventy two dolphins they lose of of course the super bowl to the tremendous comeback led by Eli Manning and the New York giants. Is this going to be just like that. Are we gonNA see a patriots team. That could possibly go undefeated after Sunday night. That's a very real possibility that defense for the Patriots absolutely shut down the steelers and and if they know they're gonna get just a boatload of points on the offensive side of the ball you know Bill Belichick GonNa give all of his time and effort to making sure that that defense is ready eighty each and every week for their match. Make sure everyone's healthy ready to go that the scheme is right and we very well could see a run at history again in New England might right sound a bit presumptuous just in week one but the steelers are a classic. AFC favorite especially when they had the big three Bell Brown and Rothlisburger now with two of those three pieces Gone Smith Schuster looks to pick up the slack for Antonio Brown but now yet to find someone to pick up the slack for Juju at that wide receivers Chris to spot you also gotta be be frank here that James Connor is not living on bell. We saw that in that game Sunday night so the steelers were still a good test defensively civilly always are fantastic and brady made them just look like a peewee football team out there as he had no problem going for thirty three points in that game and pass over three hundred honored yards. You put a be in that mix with Josh Gordon Julian Edelman the running back tandem of James White as well as Sony Michelle is going to be a really tough challenge to beat this patriots team and because of that you who who's to say I mean they they could do it. They could do it you. You can't say they can't there. There is a real world possibility with the addition of Antonio Brown that the Patriots could make some history but now we gotta look back at how this came to be an Antonio oneal brown you could tell really from the Gecko once he got into camp once he started running some routes with Derek Carr in this raiders offense something clicked in his head that he did not want. I WANNA be in Oakland. I mean he did the cryotherapy happens and you chalk that up to operator malfunction with the frostbite on the feet then he goes on this insane escapade with the helmet trying to get all that taken care of in think in trying to use his old helmet. He's used forever he. He's had six months to do it and he doesn't think that's enough time to find a new helmet. I mean he's not looking for new kidney. He just needs a helmet you. There's ways to figure that out to make it fit and make it. It'd be comfortable everyone else in the NFL did it why couldn't he that becomes an issue. He's stays out of training camp. He doesn't do the walk throughs. The helmet issue did not mean he couldn't couldn't practice with the team he did that on his own accord and then he goes after the general manager of the raiders after he gets fine for actions he knows our final. He did them with that in mind. There wasn't like that fine just came out of the sky on him and Mike mayock gets verbally costed by Antonio Brown he goes on a barrage. I use of slayer of slurs cuss words to Mike May Auchan your raiders still still planned on playing him in there Monday night game against the broncos broncos that says a lot about the raiders as an organization that they were willing to take this abuse from Antonio Brown and take all this Prima Donna behavior behavior that was happening with Ab and still play him Monday night when he's barely practice with the team we talked earlier in the season here here on this show about how Antonio Brown by taking all this media attention has helped the raiders rookies developed because they haven't had to deal with it and that's still true in the lot of the raiders rookies have talked talked about in themselves and the second year players have said by having Antonio Brown. It's been nice that they haven't had to deal with the media coverage and hard knocks and that was really a lot more centered around Antonio Brown but he's also had a terrible example as an a way to conduct yourself as professional with what he's done with the raiders clearly didn't want to be there show the the reaction video when he finally gets released from the raiders and all of that finally goes down and I think the raiders are better off for it you if you're going to establish a new culture in Oakland. You can't have this going on in your locker room on your sideline. You need to get Antonio Brown out of out of there if he wants out all the better let him go you cut your losses just saved a lot of money by voting that twenty nine million that you would yet. You'RE GONNA pay him over the three years Antonio Brown you get your wish you go you get to play for the Patriots I think both sides can kind of wash their hands of the issue but now the rest of the NFL has to deal with the Patriots and Tom Brady having Tony Brown as viable and very real. You'll weapon for them

Patriots Release WR Jordan Matthews After Significant Hamstring Injury, sign 1-year deal with Erick Decker

"What does he go play outside in a different sport now? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean six. Nine, whatever you gonna play when he gets blasted over the middle, is he gonna come back to the bra, took you seem stitching. His nose play with a mass drop sixty one on on on on the Hornets as broken. No, but he. Loved asked, and he'd be going around with a different mentality. That's a whole different ball football and basketball player. The why differently? Enough, realize it always comes back to this guy at some point. Thank you for being here. It's always good to get. Tom Brady is wide receiver group seems to constantly change and the patriots Jordan Mathews yesterday after he signed a one year deal this off season, but he reportedly suffered a significant hamstring injury on Sunday, the patriots maybe adding former titans wide receiver, Eric decker who worked out for the team this week. And yes, remember they will be without Jillian men for the first four games of the season. Shannon, what does this tell you. Kills me that a coach Bela checks. You gonna pull some weight or you guys to go. He was, I guess he was practicing whale playing well, and then he got Nick hamstring and coach Bela check says, you know what? You're not going to be doing this any good rehabbing on our dime. So we'll let you go ahead and go bring air Dicker and it looks like they're gonna sign deck, Jordan Mathews skip. I mean he really hasn't played well since he's left chip Kelly. I mean close to nine hundred yards. I two years, but he's always had this injury almost half thousand. Yeah, he's always had this injury bug that just popped up and I'm sure that factor the coach Bela checks decision of, yeah, you know, I was kinda hoping you're over this bug. Now, the last couple years deck has also suffered the injury bug, but I do believe that Eric decker is an upgrade over Jordan Mathews. He had his best years playing who skip pate, Manny. So you have a guy in Tom Brady that knows what he's doing with the football knows where to go with the ball is in complete command of this offense. And so I expect him to is big debt comes in this offense. I can see him catching. Forty fifty balls especially with Ellerman being the first the first four gay. Hell gronk it's still there not. He's still look at Tom Brady, Tom Brady can win without grunk, but you look at his numbers when gronk on the field. And you look at his numbers when gronk and on the field, this ubstantially different and plus decades. The mole grant Etima you know, they got Gatica got all all the Gallic, a guy. He likes to kind of look, Chris HOGAN. Now. L. look like. Thing shattered shock. I've been trying to tell you for two years Bill. Bella check can get away with near murder when it comes to the white outs this because it just doesn't matter. He has the greatest quarterback in the history of pro football who's also to use your term the greatest makeup artist ever because he can just cover up all the blemishes. It just doesn't matter. Just giving that guy, Joe Smith investors. Investors as the greatest ever. You know what Joe said that under. So. Look what just happened. Jordan Mathews was sort of the off season Saini by the New England Patriots because June Matty's dot, some ability. He played at my school Vanderbilt, and he is still the SEC all time career leader in catches and yards caught. That's pretty great, Nancy. See, it's a pretty good. It's right. And he's still the all time. Career leader is Jordan. Mathews those three years in Philadelphia were they were great, but they were pretty good, right. And guess who fell in love with Jordan Mathews who loved him like a brother was walk into your got Carson Wentz. He loved him some Jordan Mathews and they traded Jordan Mathews straight up for Ronald Darby who's a really good player so that that shows you that buffalo really valued Jordan Mathews that he He was. was. That's that's pretty. That's eighty. Trae they needed receiver they had let wilder would grow in said, we walk and go market Goodwin was gong. Yeah, so they need. They need Darby's a first round talent. Yeah, he's a, he's a playmaking top to your cornerback and so they value Jordan. He's in buffalo, right? And Carson Wentz was devastated and told the Philadelphia media..
