Brian Flores Files Discrimination Lawsuit Against NFL

"Most interesting story of the afternoon was Brian Flores. Late last afternoon on the West Coast. It's early evening on the east coast. I'm starting to do my show prep, and I see Brian Flores, who was head coach of the Miami Dolphins for a couple of years, has just unloaded on the NFL. Alleging discrimination against black coaches. And he shot at the NFL and his complaint, and he hit it, but he really took out Bill Belichick. Because Bill Belichick thought he was texting somebody other than Brian Flores. And he was texting, I think Brian did all telling him. Hey, the fix is in. Don't worry, there's the paraphrase I don't have in front of me. Don't worry, Brian, you've got this job, you're gonna get this job. They told me you've got the job. Good for you. You're gonna do great with a giant Brian Florence was in the about to head off to interview at New York Giants land. He had to go through a charade because of the Rooney rule. The Rooney rule requires that you hire at least one African American. You interview at least one African American for every opening for GM and head coach. I think that's the Rooney rule. Now the browns have actually lived by the Rooney rule. They had Hugh Jackson as their head coach. They got the amazing Andrew Barry, who's maybe the best GM in football, both black men who are great professionals. You didn't do so well. But but you can't pretend. And I think Brian Flores, we've got to payday

Brian Flores says his Giants interview was for show to satisfy 'Rooney Rule'

"Bill Belichick, the coach of the New England Patriots, mistakenly text this guy, Brian Flores, congratulating him on getting the hit coach job for the New York Giants. The problem is, he didn't get the head coach job for the New York giant. There's another guy named Brian. So he takes the wrong guy, and by the way, it was three days before this Brian interviewed for position with the New York Giants. Apparently, complying with the Rooney rule, meaning they'd already decided who they wanted to hire. They already were going to hire another guy named Brian. Brian Belichick didn't Bill Belichick didn't know that. Congratulated this guy for getting the job. Three days before he applied for the job, interviewed for the job, which apparently had already been given to somebody else. Now, in the lawsuit, he says, I'm standing up against systemic racism in the NFL. Says this, the league is rife with systemic racism and it is akin to being run, he says, like a plantation. The Colin Kaepernick draft the skies complaint.

"bill belichick" Discussed on The Lead

"Three weeks ago, the New England Patriots were two and four and a lot of people had written them off. But now, the paths are on a roll. Intercepted. Touchdown New England. So when I look at it, I'm saying, I can't sleep on New England. I think people are sleeping on the New England Patriots. Today, the athletics Matthew fairburn on how the Pats have put together a three game win streak. And why the balance of power in their division might be shifting. Plus why Bill Belichick is apparently a lot funnier than you might think. You need to have a thick skin to play for the guy, but he's willing to take it as much as he's willing to dish it. And the right types of guys can handle it. From wondering in the athletic, I'm Tiffany ocean Shinsuke. It's Tuesday, November 9th, and this is the lead. Well, hi Matthew, welcome back to the show. Oh, thanks so much for having me. I believe the last time you were on the lead, it was to talk about the Buffalo Bills. The team used to cover for the athletic. What's it been like to switch from covering the bills to covering the paths, especially in terms of fan reactions to your writing? There are certainly some differences, all right? I mean, Bill Belichick in the New England Patriots, they run a tight ship. It's not easy to get information out of these guys. And, you know, certainly the COVID restrictions that are still in place with press conference settings, no open locker room has been a bit of a challenge. I think some skeptical people in New England that, you know, somebody who covered the bills now is going to be covering the Patriots, but it has been interesting to transition into this era of New England Patriots football and cover this next chapter as they try to figure out who they are without Tom Brady. We're going to get into Bill Belichick being funny, but are his press conferences exactly what they seem where he's just super stoic and kind of deadpan? Or is there a little more to it that we just don't know about? There's actually more to it to be honest. Really? Wednesday's very much are what you've been told with the short answers. The running game with the 8 carries for the minus one. How much of a concern is that for you? Yeah. We've got to do better. It's obvious. And Fridays have been sort of this great time to get him to expand on things if you ask him the right question at the right time when he's in the right mood. He spoke for 8 minutes about long snappers. What? When I came into the league, there were no long snappers. But the specialist, the kickers and the punters were frequently positioned players. Well, I think he likes the zoom setting. It seems to me that he likes kind of having that distance and going on about what interests him. He really loves the history of the game. As time of all, you know, starting with Google ack and guys like that. They specialized in kicking and then you had some of the punters that specialized in punters. So players like Danny white and Tom topa and guys like but honestly, he's pretty expansive and thoughtful in the right setting and when he's asked the right question. So moving on, as we mentioned, the Pats have won three in a row in our now 5 and four. It's actually the first time they've been above 500 since week three of the 2020 season. And Matthew, we wanted to pick your brain about what's been going right for New England. So let's start with their 24 to 6 win over Carolina on Sunday. What stood out to you about their performance in that game? The defense. And throws it away. Sam darnold against Bill Belichick is just not a good matchup for Sam darnold. They ended up with three interceptions of darnold. They batted four of his passes at the line of scrimmage. They had 34 net yards of offense on those first 7 possessions. The line of scrim. The play that probably broke the game open for the Patriots defense was JC Jackson's pick 6. It was the first drive they had sustained during the entire game. And when they finally got the ball moving, JC Jackson, you know, jumped in with an interception returned it for a touchdown and broke the game wide open. Picked off and look out. This is Justin bethel can they catch him from behind. They will not touchdown. New England. They did what a Bill Belichick defense traditionally does against an inferior quarterback. And they feasted on him, frankly, and by the end of the game, Sam darnold was pretty helpless against that past defense. The Patriots de has been making a lot of great offenses and great quarterbacks. Look pretty ordinary this year. Maybe making them look like Sam darnold, including Justin Herbert and Tom Brady, what exactly are the paths doing defensively that has been so effective? I think the biggest thing is their pass rush, you know, Matthew judon has been dominant for them. He's up to 9 sacks this year. He's closing in on a career high. He's putting pressure on the quarterback. Christian bar more of their rookie defensive lineman that they drafted in the second round, he's been extremely effective up front. And they're doing different things. You know, they've traditionally been a man coverage team on defense. They're mixing in some zone coverage. They're trying to fool quarterbacks and make sure that when they go into a game, the quarterback isn't getting the same look he's expecting. It has been essentially Bill Belichick showing that he still has his fastball. He's devising these game plans. And he's the one who is still thinking two steps ahead of some of these quarterbacks. It was a long night for Tom Brady when he visited Foxborough a few weeks ago. The Patriots lost that game, but Bill Belichick showed that he could put together a game plan against the greatest quarterback of all time and one of the best offenses in football. They haven't been perfect, but more often than not, they're showing they have a defense that's going to keep the team in games. And they have the smartest defensive coach of all time, figuring out how to put all those pieces together. Well, on the other side of the ball, New England's offense hasn't exactly been a well oiled machine. But it seems like it's been good enough to win them some games. Is that fair to say? I would say so. I think this offense is what you would expect an offense with a rookie quarterback to look like. You know, Mac Jones came in as certainly a more polished prospect than most rookie quarterbacks. He's definitely a guy that came in ready to play. And it helps that they've started to get the offensive line together a little bit. Still on his feet and now inside the 15 or 25 rather to the 24. They had a lot of different combinations on the offensive line to start the year because of injuries. They had a COVID situation. Now they've had the same 5 N for about the last month and Mac Jones's protection has been better. They've been able to get the running game going as they did against the Panthers. How good did these running backs look? I mean, once again, it doesn't matter if it's you know Stevenson has had some really nice runs. Look at how many touches. They have a three man rotation in the backfield with Damien Harris from Andre Stevenson and.

"Camp. Dude return to practice today. But it will Patriots did he return to a starting job? That's the question we gave nights went from pretty Coleman. I mean, but Simmons on ESPN Radio ESPN have serious examine Channel Etienne. And gave that is the ultimate question because you look at New York Giants reporters when the Patriots were going ones V ones. And Patrick Graham is a heck of a defensive coordinator for the new for the New York Giants. As a matter of fact, he should be getting looks in the next couple of years. As a head coach. He runs very complex defenses and By all accounts, Mac Jones. Let him up. I mean to lift them up two days ago. Today. Cam Newton returned to practice and they split time. We're the ones and getting their reps. But Mac Jones took a massive opportunity and ran with it. Your reaction Yeah, That's what you want to see. And that for you spent a first round pick on a quarterback when he gets that opportunity, and you didn't know when it was going to come. You don't know how it was going to come for him to take that opportunity and run with it. That's what you want to see. That being said. I still think Cam Newton is going to be starting September 12th. I just feel that he's going to start the season as the number one quarterback for Bill Belichick. I'm excited. Honestly, for Cam in Year two with the New England Patriots, I thought he was gonna be a little bit better a year ago. I still think that there is I mean, the M V P might not still be in there, but I think there's some really good football stealing Cam Newton. I think he's going to show that a little bit

Has Cam Newton Secured the New England Patriots' Starting QB Job?

"Newton and mack jones strong showing and the patriots preseason win which capped off bill belichick described as a good week finally felt like cam newton. Joe was able to take a little bit more of a strong hold on the grip of the patriots quarterback competition. He looked good in the start. Eight of nine hundred and three yards finish with one touchdowns. One on one touchdown no interceptions. He played three series before. Mac jones the rookie than took over jones first-round pick from alabama was also quite productive in this outing. Thirteen for nine thousand nine hundred forty six yards over four series. He had no touchdowns and no interceptions so all week long. We were talking about houses quarterback competition going to go in new england. Who's going to separate themselves. How are they gonna look now that they actually get to see some competition during the week in practice with those joints against philadelphia. I was reading earlier in the week. Just about how those practices went and that it was jalen hurts of all people who was standing apart of all the quarterbacks that we saw in philadelphia but now with cam newton and mack jones. This makes this one of the more interesting quarterback battles of the preseason because you have an incumbent in cam newton who was played a lot more seasons of professional football than his counterpart mack jones anecdote always feels like bill ballot checks to give him this final shot to prove himself and so far looks like he's off to a pretty good start.

Mac Jones Gaining Momentum as Eventual Patriots Starting QB

"Do you think about the pat- patriots quarterback battle. And do you think it's possible mack. Jones starts week one. Oh there's no question it's possible. I mean i think if he if he beats him out if he's clearly the better option and camp. Then that's bill belichick will do i. I don't think there's any doubt of it now. He's been saying cam newton starter since draft night When they when they took mack jones. But i think he you know obviously he wants to rookie to have to earn it. They put number fifty on him Mini camps so that that's a sign of that. But yeah i mean i think it's it's entirely possible and i think what you saw was cam newton. You know yeah. I think he's frustrated with the questions. I think he was coming off by. Most accounts was was kind of a tough practice for him And he probably. Here's the steps. I think you know everybody who's been around. Eighteen says that matt jones is closing gap so I'm it's likely the cam. Newton feels the same way and that's probably making him feel some pressure.

Cam Newton vs. Mac Jones: Where Patriots QB Competition Stands

"The other side. I it's a more interesting. Quarterback is a quarterback competition in new england. What is the sense. You get the dynamic between cam. Newton and mack jones. Yes quarterback competition. We can call it that cam. Newton is the starter plated limited amount of time against the washington football team. And then as you mentioned mack jones and it's very important not only to listen to what bill bella checks says but what he does and what he did was put back jones out there with the first team offensive line for a couple of plays at the end of his at the first half against the washington football team and then he had max jones run the two minute drill the no huddle offense and that he did with command and obviously precision and they were very impressed with that but right now what he wants to see what bill belichick wants to see and he said this the other day he to see the whole team but particularly the quarterback play faster react faster execute faster and what better way to do that than enjoying practices with the philadelphia eagles and then a preseason game on thursday night but yes there is a competition and we'll have to see how this goes in the next couple of weeks but my money is on cam. Newton starting the season and mack jones quickly getting up to speed and pushing cam newton for the starting job.

Robert Kraft Gives Honest Assessment of Patriots Drafting

"Heard from Robert Kraft yesterday was a man who was completely honest about where the the team is in a lot of different areas. I wouldn't will get into this but I don't think his quarterback comments were Something to really weigh in heavily on but I do think that overall I mean him talking about, you know, the draft specifically the personality just sound thrilled with having to Shell out as much money as he did and he basically admitted that the only reason they had to do that cuz they didn't draft well in recent years and and he committed what a lot of us have said where it's not sustainable to do that. You need the draft to be the lifeblood of your team so that you can do other things like you can't just every three years song ten free agents. It just it it's probably not going to happen be it's not economically feasible. And so I thought it was very refreshing for Robert to to talk to the assemblage yesterday and and really be honest and I think you know in judging from the comments at Boston Sports Journal com from my column off of this press conference wage. Think on a whole I thought the Patriots the Patriots fans reacted very well to it that are really like, okay. Well, at least now we know that the person in charge realizes is a isn't happy about it called last season horrible and B thinks that the team has made correction and is moving in the right direction. That's all anybody ever wanted to to hear from anybody at at one page place and they heard it from Craft and I think it made Patriot Nation breathe a little bit easier. Not that they weren't confident in Bill Belichick rebounding in any event, but I just think it reinforced that. All right. Well, we're still the Patriots thought we had a we had an off-year didn't go well we're going to correct things were going to get things back on track.

Top 10 players signed by Patriots

"Talk about the Patriots. The the Patriots grabbed everybody's attention by making move after move after move after move. Like we're watching it over agency going off. How many people are going to bring in its kind of unbelievable how many starters they've added? And so I count they added ten players that I think are very very significant to their team next year. In fact, I would say pretty clearly the Patriots are back and a lot of people saw this coming, you know, but they are going to be a force in the NFL next year here is my list my nerdy list of the ten players the top players. They added that are very significant to their roster next year. The first two are massive. It will reshape the entire Patriots offense. They added two tight ends Johnny Smith and Ed Hunter Henry. To Johnny Smith signed from Tennessee. He signed a four year deal worth up to fifty million dollars. That's Thirty one point two five million dollars guaranteed and he's only twenty-four years old. So that's Monday. That's a really gigantic Marquis franchise player. He cited the reason why it came to New England is cuz he loves Bill Belichick. He's got great respect for him. And I want to point out of all the everybody I'm about to talk about these shows to be in New England Bill Belichick got his kind of guys who sought out New England wanted to be there and wanted to work hard and win a Superbowl. I think it matters. It's very very exciting. These are not with Josh Gordon's or what's the other example Phillip Dorsett who they made a move for and they're not really like that. You think they fit they don't work out know. These are guys who all chose to be in New England who wanted to win a Superbowl. I really want to win a Superbowl. These guys went out of their way to be New England now the other tight and they brought in With twenty-six-year-old tight end Hunter Henry from the LA Chargers got a three-year deal twenty-five million dollars guaranteed. It's worth up to thirty seven point five million dollars total if he meets all those incentives. They also added two wide receivers the Patriots brought in Nelson agholor to a you got a two year twenty six million dollar contract East twelve years old. Now a lot of people do not like this move and I I get it Nelson agholor is not the most flashy player in the NFL but I think if it's very well with Cam Newton, he's good at he's not going up and getting the ball. He's got good hands did some stuff of the Raiders that I think deserves your attention go watch what he did with the Raiders and I just I'm like, huh a lot of good plays. Okay. I understand. I see the potential Bill Belichick and the Patriots would see and Nelson agholor go will give the guy a good contract, especially considering the Patriots have like our desolate at wide receiver. They need help. They got home. Who is awesome but he can't do everything by himself from the slot. They have n'keal Harry who n'keal Harry. I I think he's going to pop. I think he's going to progress and keep getting better. But she's not a number one right now. So on top of the page where it's also added Kendrick Bourne guy from my local area actually went to Eastern Washington University 25 years old. He's coming from the San Francisco 49ers. He got a three year deal worth twenty two point five million dollars. Now another thing the Patriots did they also added they signed Center Ted carriages and they traded for tackle Trent Brown. So this is the new Patriots offense right now. They've receivers Nelson agholor, Julian Edelman Kendrick born and kill hair is its own nuclear Aguilera. I'm doing my best. It's a hard game to say. They also have Sony Michelle running backs for any receivers Sony Michelle at running back and improved offensive line. Cam Newton at quarterback who I get why people doubt Cam? He's a former NFL MVP and with when you put cams Talent with a lot of weapons including two outstanding tight ends Hunter Henry Smith, right man. I'll tell you what I look at the Patriots offense and think two things immediately number one. Everything is going to run through their brand new Titans. Their entire offense now is probably going to drive down the seams of the field right up the middle. They're going to use our tents heavily lot of play-action again. I am scheme wise things will look a lot like the page words did back in the day when they had drunk and Aaron Hernandez together to start tight ends. Now number two. I feel very very confident with Cam Newton as the Patriots quarterback and it surprised me but I want to remind you that two years ago. Tom Brady was the page word starting quarterback and did basically nothing and the reason was there were no weapons there. He kept running into the same brick wall. His receivers weren't good enough. So, how can I think you and I would both agree. I like Cam Newton Tom Brady's a better quarterback than Cam Newton. So my point is if Tom Brady couldn't make it work with New England's roster. How was Cam Newton supposed to succeed? He was set up to fail will now Cam Newton's being given weapons is being set up to do. Well, I'm excited man. He's a former NFL MVP, he's hungry. I I personally believe Cam Newton's going to have an awesome year and it really is going to make extended one-year deal with like it was like three and a half million dollars with a bunch of incentives. I honestly think we're gonna look back at his contract at the end of next year and go. Can you believe the deal they got on Camden he played so well for no money. I really think he's he's a guy who can didn't play well enough wage. Last year to earn a new gigantic contract. So he's going to have to show what he can do this year and maybe earn more money next year but I think cam is poised to do very very well and make a lot of money and win a lot of games in New England

Seattle Seahawks Today: Latest Rumors On A Russell Wilson Trade

"Originally or a few a few weeks ago russell. Wilson's camp released some information that he was unhappy in seattle. They have not formally requested a trade but it seems like the relationship has some conflict there. he has a no trade clause in his contract. There were specific exemptions from four. Team's the cowboys. The saints the bears and las vegas after dak prescott signed is extent like talked about and the raiders recently have back derek carr. They've given their full support. They they wanna move forward their cars. So that really leaves the saints and the bears as the final two candidates for possibly getting russell wilson this offseason so saints are always in salary cap trouble From what. I've learned about the salary cap they can. They ended up being able to just move money around when they need to. But they're always close to reaching that point so they're always during the cat but it seems unlikely that they will be able to make a move for quarterback this price in this caliber. So when you re comes down to it. The bears like the front runners as the most desperate team. Four quarterback if you've watched the nfl shares have always had quarterback issues. They've been in quarterback hell so to speak for the past two decades and russell. Wilson could come in and immediately fix that so the bears are desperate. And i see the bears as the front running candidate to lead russell wilson or land russell. Wilson this offseason. So when did all this start with russell. wilson is come out of nowhere I would say to myself when i first saw. Russell wilson wants out. I was shocked. But although it's not that cut and dry comes down to russell wilson. Mp carol's relationship. So they've won a superbowl. They made playoffs made. They made the playoffs. Eight times in the last nine seasons which is absurd. It's absurd to think there was wasn't been playing in the nfl for the last nine seasons But he's been assault as they come. He's true winner. he goes to the playoffs. he's clutch and i see. The situation is very similar to the tom. Brady situation new england. You had tom brady and bill play for all those years. Winning all those super bowls and talk. Although tom brady wasn't playing up to his level he wasn't playing bad and they had that loss to the titans of the playoffs. And i think he just had those two egos bill. Belichick and tom brady kind of going at each other. And they've they've finally kind of just tired of that relationship and they wanted to move on. They wanted to start. Something new. And when quarterbacks are with the head coach for so long things start to take a turn for the worst so. I'm not sure if that's exactly what's happening with p carroll and russell wilson but there are a lot of similarities there so it was reported in week. Eleven of the season. That wilson stormed out of an offensive meeting when he was trying to offer insight as to what he wanted done as on a bit done for protection standpoint and so that was the first sign the second sign is just overall. He's been getting hit way. Too much. says he's sacked. He's been three hundred ninety four times since entering the league which is on pace to be the most sat quarterback of all time which is pretty insane when you consider how well he's played and he's just been under duress running for his life literally for the last his whole career and so seattle hasn't found a way to kind of sure up that protection for him. I think that's starting to get frustrating as well. So but more specifically in two thousand twenty. He had a week nine loss to the bills. This was a defining moment for this offense offense because after that moment. Russell wilson had started to throw a lot of turnovers making a lot of risky plays they lose to the bills. The seahawks kind of started to scale the offense back like i said to limit turnovers and did not perform well for the rest of the season so before that game. They were top. Three league based on expected points added per play. They were the number three the top three leak and then after that game from from weeknight on they felt a number eighteen the remainder of the season. So that's a huge huge drop off so they really sputtered down the stretch. They were able to win games and make the playoffs through to their defense. Kind of picking picking up. Their play was weird. Their offense was so good in the beginning the defense awful and he kind of flipped that latter half of the year but he's also getting hit It doesn't seem to meet on their offensive loss of beat philosophy and he. He's definitely voiced that he wants more of a say. In the franchise direction as the franchise quarterback so all these things culminating into one is. Where would he end up.

Cam Newton Re-Signing With Boston's Patriots: Making Sense Of The Move

"I do wanna move to the quarterback news today tony because bill ballot check and cam. Newton have apparently decided to run it back next season with the patriots agreeing to terms with newton on a one year. Deal with up to fourteen million dollars. Newton did struggle down the stretch famously. Last season tony. So does this move makes sense to you. It's so charitable that you'd say he struggled down the stretch. He struggled from the moment he got in there. He had twelve rushing touchdowns which is wonderful but he had eight passing touchdowns and ten interceptions. I want to get the stats right. Here he was. I mean he couldn't throw downfield. He was twenty eighth in passing rating and he was deadliest in yards per game. And so you asked me. Does it make sense. And i'm going to tell you declarative in affirmatively. It does make sense because he's a professional quarterback right and he took responsible. He was terrible last year. He couldn't throw it but he took responsibility after every loss. He said this is my fault. He was a leader. The other players revered him as a leader. The coaching staff loved him as leader. Belichick him. Personally the worst that can happen problem is that he becomes a backup. And would you trust your team to the backup cam newton after all these years. Yes you would. It does feel like the contract. You give to maybe charitably again. A high end. Backup tony because look the deal as it is six billion dollars again or wrapped up in incentives and honors and playoff achievement. So a lot of this really does hinge on how we actually plays in real time but the other thing about this. That clear is that this is just mr right now for bill belichick. This is not mr right. They're going to go and look around. And there is a phrase that i think of another piece of wisdom from someone else that by the way describes nothing about my own personal life or philosophies but you are as faithful as your options. What some wise men believe bill. Belichick is faithful to cam newton right now because there aren't options otherwise at that price but is it going to look at the draft and say. Can we get another quarterback absolutely. Oh he'll look at the draft. And maybe mack jones will be there and maybe trade lance will be there and he'll maybe everybody talks about him requiring jimmy garoppolo very when he's not having broken bones but he has broken bones a lot you. It is at the moment to marriage of convenience. But i will say three things. One cam had no training camp last year none too. He actually had toronto virus himself and might have been in a depleted physical condition. And three m. it's it's just hard for me to believe that he would be this bad again. I you know. I got to be a little bit better but again again. My point would be if you were stuck with cam. Newton that's like being stuck with twenty five other backups. This guy who was the mvp at one point and on muscle memory alone. He could probably make something happen. Maybe maybe i'm being naive about this. I don't

What the Trent Brown trade tells us about Bill Belichick’s thinking

"Notable today trent brown. The you know pro bowl top you know. Left tackle offensive tackle in the entire. Nfl when the top guys on they traded him back to the patriots this interesting he was unhappy clearly The raiders were unhappy clearly because he's barely played so even while the raiders had like this dominant offense align at times. Trent brown was even playing for them. Sometimes you know last year. I feel like he barely played due to injuries and everything else. So the raiders weren't appreciate the effort. They felt like he could push through some of that probably. They felt like he was out of shape. You know Might may i came out and said that that when he's in shape and healthy is one of the best hackles ofo ball when he's not he's no good for you so My assumption is my guess of. I had to predict out. Trent brown will be entirely healthy next year. Because he's a patriot now and so he will not do injury concerns. He won't have all these issues because he's happy because he thinks he's on a winning team. No surprise surprise. Trent brown the patriots wearing good last year. The patriots. don't even have a quarterback sir. They don't if he can't come back. That's great but bro. You don't even know your protection. You don't even know how this even the plow because they didn't play out so hot last year now another get a lot of players back that You know took a year off because of covid. I fully assume. Bill belichick is anna. Start to repair this team. The best he can But you know the they're left guard go. I believe they decided to franchise tag him. That'll be interesting. But this always you know as a raiders fan. This kind of stuff always annoys me because players leave the traded with ever. They go to another team. Take the pay cut because he was getting paid. More with the raiders. That was annoys move. Obviously the raiders always play pay. You know a bonus they always have to pay up compared to other teams especially a successful team like the patriots so right so okay that comes with the territory. Donate to play the game. I respect that. And then you know. I hate when these guys on twitter and they started. Tweet tweeting my. They're so happy so excited. It gives me those antonio brown vibes when he left the raiders. So yeah that's it's frustrating but listen term row with some non baloch patriots at which But it's raiders all

"Tad Denver Broncos won four of their last five games and remember Bradley Chubb. Their number one pick a couple years ago missed twelve games. He now returns with Von Miller. Two elite edge rushers they got Jerry. Judy my favorite wide receiver in the draft and had a sneaky. Good Free Agency. They added running back. Melvin Gordon Defensive. Tackle giral Casey who's underrated and AJ? Bu The corner. I think Denver's a top ten team in the NFL number nine Minnesota Vikings now. They lost some defensive players. But they got to starters in the first round of the draft Justin Jefferson and Jeff Gladden Kirk. Cousins finally won a big game at New Orleans. I don't know if they're a super bowl team but their number nine number eight chargers had again a sneaky free agency pro bowl guard trae. Turner left Tackle Brian. Beluga and a tremendous corner and Chris Harris then they moved up in the draft to get a starting linebacker from Oklahoma Kenneth. Murray remember tyrod Taylor as a winning. Nfl Career Record. That's with rebuilding Cleveland and Buffalo. This is a really good football team. The LA chargers number seven Tampa Bay buccaneers again sneaky. They won four of their last six last year. Despite Jameis Winston turnovers they add Brady Rob Gronkowski and I thought had a great draft Tristan. Worse will start at right. Tackle Antonio Winfield now starts at safety and they bought in a -nother running back along with Ronald Jones from the SEC. In case Sean Vaughan from Vanderbilt I also again. They played very well at the end of last year. Number six the Seattle seahawks. I may have them lower than they deserve Russell Wilson came off his best year. Five career interceptions lowest Season of interceptions in his career George Brooks the linebacker from Texas tech will start. They also brought in Quinton Dunbar at corner through free agency. We'll start Greg Olsen tight end brandon. Shell left tackle right tackle. Excuse me Seattle was very good at the end of last year. And I think they've solved some of their weaknesses number five Philadelphia again. I don't really care about their draft picks after the first that being jalen Rieger the TCU receiver. Because he'll start. They also brought in a tot corner Darius slay and they brought in a sneaky wide receiver marquees Goodwin from San Francisco. He's not a one but he's sneaky good wide receiver. Who can be your three Philadelphia? Five number four New Orleans Saints. Were a very good football team that brought in Emmanuel Sanders and mouth and Malcolm Jenkins receiver safety respectively to starters to total adult grownups. Love them then. They went out and got Zack. Bond linebacker from Wisconsin a former high school quarterback who turned into a tackling machine for the badgers and Caesar. Ruis a better pass blocking than runs locking center from Michigan. But he should start three San Francisco. Forty niners got rid of Deforest buckner in a trade indie. Then they go out and get J von Ken. Law a defensive tackle to replace also at a pro bowl left tackle Trent Williams who Kyle Shanahan knows from DC Brandon iook a wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. They bring in an explosive receiver. It looks like to me. San Francisco is is no worse off than last year. I think Trent Williams zippy's healthiest probably right now. An upgrade at left tackle over an older Joe staley number to Kansas City. They didn't have to make a bunch of moves. They bring back twenty twenty two starters. So there's the super bowl champs don't have a lot of spaces. They did upgrade at running back getting lsu's Clyde Edwards Hilar- who is a excellent pass catching running back perfect for any read system. So they didn't. They don't have a lot of areas of need. Twenty twenty two starters back but the area that. I think they can use a little help is running back and they added a guy that could be a potential starter very soon for Andy Reid in the chiefs number one. I think the Ravens have had an unbelievable off-season first of all callejas Campbell. They brought in Who's just a terrific player for them? Then they add Patrick Queen from Lsu linebacker who just a thumper J. Dobbins. I didn't I don't love him as much as I loved. Jonathan Taylor Wisconsin. But he will play immediately and this is a team. I thought underachieved in the playoffs but played really good football From date game one to the end of the season so I think the Ravens are my best team in the league. I don't I'm not going to be tough on the ravens. If they don't have a bunch of draft picks that start like Kansas City. I just don't think they have any openings. I think if you look at Kansas City their first pickle start if you look at Baltimore their first pickles start after that. They're just good they. Just don't there's a reason that the chargers are willing to give up a bunch of pex to get a linebacker in the first round because they just don't have any openings. The chargers APP to everything. They just. Don't they needed a linebacker that's about? They sold their garden their left tackle.

"Xm Channel Eighty three good. Debbie End Ryen. Russillo was funny today. John Lynch ric Bucher Benoit's Super Bowl champ former. Nfl TIGHT END Super Smart Guy. It's interesting ric Bucher Brought this up that so far. It's been a little bit of a sanitized version of MJ. We haven't heard about the gambling. And the Steve Kerr punching incident the the gambling incident interesting because I mean the bottom line. Is there some stuff here? If Michael Jordan goes out and talks about gambling he's GonNa go out and talk about beating guys gambling. The problem talking about gambling. Is You gamble with somebody else. So if you If if if I didn't want to talk about My my let's say I got into a bunch of fights as a broadcaster and there was coward gets into a lot of fights. And then you asked me about the fights and that was a big tough guy. If I told you I fought it. Basically be telling you yea knocked all these guys out so I would be making them look like schmucks for a second time to talk about Jeff. Gordon talk about gambling. He's gotTa talk about who he gambled with. And is it possible? Michael's like I don't really. I don't WanNa get into my golf games in my late night. Poker Games and how much. I wonder how much I lost. I don't know maybe I'm I'm apologizing for Michael Jordan. There are things in my life. I don't want to talk about because I have to talk about them and mentioned other people and I don't WanNa drag other people into them like Steve Kerr. I talk about that. It's public. We fought he can defend himself. I always say to my when I used to take calls. I used to say don't rip another broadcaster. Who's not here to defend himself? That's not fair right. So Jerry Krause I you know. I was critical when he was living. I mean I I. He was a bad. Gm to me I don't know that makes sense. Joy Maybe if. Mj was scaled back a little on the gambling because he was gambling with people all the time. Yeah I mean there's no way to tell a story without telling somebody else's business right but I also maybe it will develop into it but I don't really feel like this is an MJ story. It's to me. This is a story about that bulls team. I mean. We're learning about each of the individual characters in that story in that Saga and MJ's obviously Michael Jordan. So it feels like an. Mj documentary is why we care so much but so far it Halley. Feel like it's all about knowing it's interesting. It's like if you're doing an activity that's illegal gambling right. Why would you WanNa talk about it? Let's say there were days that you did cocaine and could you talk about it? Well no because I did it with these teammates and this woman and I don't WanNa talk about it like if you're doing something that's illegal and people ask you about it part of the reason you don't want to discuss it is other people were involved in my really illegal habit. That part I could see Jordan. Just say I gambled whatever you find you can use. But I'm not gonNA comment on it. Yeah Not GonNa add. I'm not going to add to it which I totally get by the way. I don't know why I don't think the Patriots are tanking. I think the media's ee struggling with this. I think they're rebooting. You ever had your computer at home. And you got to reboot young plug it for like three minutes. Then you plug your computer. Do this with my phone. Probably once every other day I just turn it off. Something's not working and then I turn it back on an iphone works again. The audio works or something Jeff. How of the athletic on the Patriots potentially tanking? He's a writer. He says the idea the Patriots would take for Trevor. Lawrence doesn't hold any water now. Here is two reasons. I it's not. How CHECK WIRED. I disagree Bella. Check always does what we don't expect. He's covert secretive manipulative. Smart always has a plan and shocks us all the time. Wouldn't it shock you if he tanked? That's exactly how he's wired. He didn't draft a quarterback this draft. He didn't draft a skill. Person is draft. Didn't that surprise you. This is how he's wired doing things we don't expect. He's not predictable we. He changes his game plan every week. This is exactly I would tell Jeff. This is exactly how he's wired. He's wired by the way he's also showed over time. He is about the big picture. He's willing to experiment in September joy. What's his worst month regular season set? September willing to have short term risk and failure for long-term winning his worst month is September. That's Bella checks worst month so he is wired this way. I'm GONNA experiment do things for the greater good of the season. I mean he he took Malcolm Butler out of a super bowl. Do you think he was wired that way. If he's all about winning the second thing. Jeff how says a second in this? Traditional transitional phase ballot check with risks. Losing the locker room. You know th the great way to alienate the veterans who have trusted him over the years. Oh you mean the guys. He's gotten rid of. They're all golfing. Brady Gone Stephen. Got cousy gone. Harmon gun eight Abner Gone James Devlin. Gone Kyle Van Noy Gone Jimmy Collins Gone Ted Karras Gone Ben Watson Gone Danny Shelton God Rob Gronkowski gone. He doesn't have tailgate veterans. He's gotten rid of all of them. Outside of Stefan Gilmore who is in his prime and he loves corners and they hightower so I disagree with the premise by jeff how this is exactly how. Bella check is wired. Secretive always a plan always ahead of the league big picture over this Sunday. Big Picture season over September Sunday. Secondly there aren't veterans last year's draft in this year's draft heavy defense heavy kids. He's gotten rid of the veterans. There is no pushback. Gilmore's not pushing back. Because they pay him. He's the one Patriot they pay. And they don't pay anybody so Gilmore's and Bella Checks Cam. He's Abella Check Guy. Does Dante hightower. Who could be a coach after he quits? Playing Bella check loves it. Those are Bella Chat Guy. He doesn't care about adamant he didn't pay anything so I again. He's not a tanking. It is like Golden State. This year came into the season knowing. Claes hurt. And Katie's gone. The minute STEPH GETS HURT. They shut him down and play the young guys. They tanking whether or not trying to lose. But they're gonNA play young guys. Nobody's saying Bella checks trying to lose but he is letting go of really good veteran players and not replacing them knowing next year to a plus quarterback prospects. He just needs one summer suggesting. There's a third or fourth prospect on the horizon. We'll learn more about the next college football season but two plus his right now. So Bella checks like old inexpensive. Let's get rid of all of them. Except Gilmore who's in his prime and he's the best person in the league at his position outside of that. We're pretty much moving off everybody. One hundred million cap space next year most in the league ten picks minimum so far. I don't think it's called rebooting. It's what you do to your computer. You just unplug it. But it's I don't buy the premise. That he's wired this way. September it's been an experimental month is entire career. I'll take a loss. I'll take a gamble to be better in Christmas. That's that's how he's wired. He's a big picture. Guys always been a big picture guy and he always does what we don't expect. I don't think you can call it tanking I think. It's rebooting accumulating picks getting cap space starting over getting cheap getting younger. And that's what he's doing he just. He wants cap space draft picks and he knows that Emmy smart he knows the divisions getting better. He's not stupid he's he looks at Adam Gates and Donald now going to year to and their draft. They have a real GM now he looks at Miami. How well they played last year. How Buffalo made the playoffs. They now have stiffened digs. I mean bell checks not stupid. They're not going six and on this division they go to and four. I don't know if they match up with buffalo anymore. I really don't without Brady. I really don't so it's just the the words here tanking. It's not tanking. I don't see it is tanking. It's rebooting you know Bill Belichick. This morning knows. This is not a super bowl roster. He knows that he's he's not a dumb guy. He knows that I mean. Ask yourself this. Do they have one dynamic offensive player? I mean Julian Edelman Slot Guy that they they they they don't they don't have one dynamic offensive player. He didn't address that he built a defense defense. Really really good. He's going to build the offensive line back up so when he gets the Star quarterback and maybe it's Jarret Stidham. I don't think it is but if it is then he gets the quarterback and get the weapons in here. We go you. Everybody's caught up in tanking. This is not the Philadelphia. Seventy sixers with Sam Hanky. That's not what's going on it just unplugging the computer wait a few minutes plug it back in. Get your juice back Ben. Watson's coming up be sure to catch live editions of the heard. Weekdays at noon eastern nine. Am Pacific so next year the Patriots will have one hundred million dollars of cap space so and Bella Check has struggled drafting offensive players. They don't have an offensive pro bowler drafted since so. The last two drafts. New England has spent a lot of their draft capital on defensive players where bill is had a much higher hit rate as a personnel guy. So I look at ballot check. They're going to have a one hundred million dollars to spend. The last two drafts. Have been heavily. Reliant on defensive players plus Dante hightower and Stefan Gilmore. Are the two older players that are expensive? That he's keeping what is it telling me that New England next year is going to spend that money on offense because ballot check has struggled to draft wide receivers. He struggled with it and that built. Maybe bill saying listen. I'M GONNA have one hundred million dollars next year. I'm not great at at drafting wide receivers. It's not what I'm good at and Dante Scar. Nekia for the record could retire soon so if I had a guest this morning I'd say bill's GonNa spend money offensively next year and he'll continue drafting defensive players because it's hit rate on linebacker safeties corners and defensive linemen and edge rushers. It's pretty darn good. It's pretty darn good receivers. It's not you can't debated. I got thirty-five. He's got a bunch them in front of me. He's drafted not a lot of hits and that's with Brady. Ben Watson Played Sixteen. Nfl season seven of the sixteen with Tom. Brady and Brady. Reference Ben Watson more than once when he when he left New England about their relationship. And we welcome Ben. Who by the way forty eight? No Wunderlich test I have. I have a here. Third Highest in league history is the author of two books. Maybe that's why Brady got along intellectual physical thing. How close we're been. How close we're Tom and you. I mean he's referenced you Multiple Times. How close are you? Are You doing man? Perhaps.

"So I disagree with the premise by Jeff. How this is exactly how Bella check is wired secretive, always a plan always ahead of the league big picture over this Sunday big picture season over September Sunday. Secondly, there aren't veterans last year's draft in this year's draft, heavy defense heavy kids. He's gotten rid of the veterans. There is no pushback. Gilmore's not pushing back because they pay him. He's the one Patriot they pay, and they don't pay anybody so Gilmore's and Bella. Checks Cam. He's a check guy. Does Dante hightower who could be a coach after he quits? Playing Bella check loves it. Those are Bella Chat Guy. He doesn't care about adamant he didn't pay anything. So I again, he's not a tanking. It is like Golden State this year. Came into the season knowing Claes hurt and Katie's gone. The minute Steph gets hurt. They shut him down and play the young guys they tanking. Whether or not trying to lose, but they're gonNA, play young guys. Nobody's saying Bella checks trying to lose, but he is letting. Go of really good veteran players and not replacing them. Knowing next year to a plus quarterback prospects. He just needs one summer suggesting there's a third or fourth prospect. On the horizon we'll learn more about the next college football season, but two plus his right now. So Bella checks like old inexpensive. Don't WanNa talk about it like if you're doing something that's illegal and people ask you about it. Part of the reason you don't want to discuss. "Gm and the most trades. I just read this this morning. They had five tied for the most draft day trades five John Lynch wheeling and Dealing Baby. They also moved up traded up six spots for the Arizona State Wide Receiver so a guy I covered and the guy I work with John. Lynch will be joining us in five minutes. Joy How are you? I'm great? Didn't really good. You know we talk about on this show all the time. It doesn't matter how smart you are Bobby Knights a great example Bobby Knights. My High School basketball team used bobby. Knight's Offense Everybody Used Bobby Knights Motion Offense. But Bobby never evolved. Bobby was rigid so his personality ultimately punctured his success. He never really grew he had he was great in the seventies early eighties and it was over. Mike Chef ski has endured decade after decade after decade because Mike evolves in his less rigid. I don't have any rigid friends. I can't hang out with rigid people. This virus is going to force. It's going to really separate the haves and have nots here. People that can evolve because the world's GonNa change a little bit like nine eleven. The world's going to if you can't adapt you're in big trouble. Companies are just not GonNa have space for you. You got to adapt and watching the last dance. We obviously the two best basketball players. I've ever seen Michael and Lebron. They don't get enough credit for being really smart and adapting Russell Westbrook's Great Iverson's great mellows. Great were never good at adapting. I mean Westbrook is what he is. I'm not changing. That's why he can't get out of the first and second round. We don't give credit to Lebron James. After he got beat by the Dallas Mavericks. He spent the entire. Off-season working with the Chemo Lajon. Because he wanted to get better in the low post paid him said. Make me better when you watch the last dance so much. Michael Jordan was his a willingness to adapt. He was the best basketball player in the world easily and he was like. I gotTA pass more. I gotTA shoot less and he initially. It was rough but he allowed significantly less talented players. Like Paxton and Kerr to be really instrumental down the stretch and big games. We never give Michael Credit for just being really smart and smart people are better at adapting and I my entire life. I've seen great NBA players. But if I sense early like magic really successful in Business Kobe. Mj LEBRON. There is something about just their ability to see a head of what is happening and a lot of these guys in the NBA. That I grew up with had the talent can adapt too rigid. And I've Seen It with coaching. I- Bobby Knight could not adapt Mike. Shishki did one has aged well. One has aged poorly Roy. Williams talked about that yesterday with Michael. He's just a guy that was willing to learn. He was curious and despite being the best player. Mid-stream was like. Oh I got to change stuff. He was the most driven person I've ever known the most focused I've ever known greatest competitor I've ever known class site when I'm watching talks about you know The Collins Doug giving give me the ball put it in my hands and now Phil Jackson comes. He won't take it out but he looked at it and believed in it and gave it a chance and says okay. I'll change and you know in today's generation. I don't know that you could find guys would do that thing. But it shows how badly that young man wanted to win. There is one guy that would do it today. It's called Lebron James. Oh you want me to point guard. Okay I'll be a point guard too. Many people say well magic had Phil Jackson and Michael Hatfill. It's coaching notes. Not all these guys. Go through coaches. Michael didn't win his fourth coach. Magic started with Paul Westhead. Lebron's run through coaches. It's not about the coach. It's not about the owner in the NBA. It's not about the GM it's about the player. I've seen so many guys. I was guaranteed. We're going to be the next blank and the difference isn't just talent. It's their ability to go. Wow the world's changing Lebron James Ten years ago said Oh three point shooting is really important and he his first run in Cleveland at the very end. If you remember that is last year in Cleveland he really started tailoring his game toward the three point shot following year he goes to Miami Loses to Dallas. Then he starts tailoring his inside game. Lebron was a freight train when he walked into this league. He didn't have college. He wasn't very refined but as a basketball player. The story of Lebron. He is always building his game always adapting his game. A lot of people in life they have little success and this is who I am and I'm never changing. That was not Michael and it was not Lebron and I think that's that's speaks to a lot of their. Their greatness is Bobby Knight. Why didn't the age as well as Mike Szumowski it wasn't an IQ thing it was. He didn't adapt. He just wasn't willing to adapt. That's really been the story of Bella. Check. He's the great adapter. He's with you think he's going left. He's going right well. John Lynch a covered him in Tampa. I work with them at Fox and now he's a forty niners. Gm WHO's already got one super bowl trip on his resume. So let's let's start with this so we went into a virtual draft and everybody was kind of freaking out John About Technology. And how's it going to work and then you tied for the most draft day trades so take me through. Maybe one of them where he was at frenetic was it. Oh did you. Have it planned? I mean you were doing all these trades. That goes Kinda counterintuitive. John to what people thought would happen in the draft. So give me one how you pulled it off. Well I I would say first of all I wasn't too prophetic because I think right before I was asked him. I said you know. What do you anticipate in this virtual draft and I said well I think it'd be less traits because some of the obvious ones upfront. You can do a lot of legwork and but then as As I always use what I learned at Fox John Madden used to say what happens when a game breaks out. You can do all the preplanned and you want then once you get into the draft day you gotta be able to adapt but the one thing. I think where I feel really good about where we're at as an organization we entrust a lot of people do their job. And so what you had to do. Is You know we? We basically split. The League out of Peter's at eighteen is mark may who had eighteen sporadic Murat. They had eight and I had a you know we kinda just Kinda you know we we split and such that you know trying to anticipate okay if we do get point. We all can't be on the phone at one time. You know at one time on a zoom at one time you know so we have to. We have to be able to trust people. In a couple of those instances I think the The EU trade. I was dealing with spielman but After trade I think Peter was was dealing with his counterpart part John spy tech and then they just Kinda. Hey you wanna go with it. Here's the trade and Bam. We you know we pulled the trigger and so I give All the it guys the video guys I know within our organization they were the MVP of this whole thing And then at the League. I think they did a tremendous job. I really felt like it went off without a hitch in terms of any You know technological or anything like that. It was pretty smooth. You know one of the positions that you have done a really good job in your staff is skill positions. And we've said before it's a position that has sometimes flummoxed even bill belichick and Pete Carroll you have nailed your tight end picks your wide receiver picks and. It's not an easy position. If you go back five drafts John. There are of the tiny. It was like twenty wide receivers taken in the first round. I could argue twelve to fifteen have whipped yours have not so you go up. And you trade up six spots to Arizona State's Brandon. I you know I watched him on the PAC twelve guy. What did you see and Kyle see that attracted you to move up in a wide receiver heavy draft this this kid? What turns you on here? What just see well. Brandon was a kid that You know really. I started Cnn and we started seeing our scouts were on long before but JC TRANSFER. But we started noticing them. When we were studied in in Kiel Harry and feels a player that we had great interest in last year. He's now with the Patriots as we were studying him. We kept saying this guy's pretty good you know he kept showing up in spurts and You know Med Words is the the godfather to to my daughter. I'm the Godfather is Sonny. One of my closest friends in the world and as this process started this year's started transpiring started asking questions about him or are scouts continued to say this kid you know don't don't let the production or lack thereof. Jc Kid they hadn't he'll don't let that fool you You know let. Let's let's keep on being on this guy and so we watch them throughout the year and he's the guy that just the more you watch the more you like I think we were probably helped by it. The forty. I don't believe he was healthy. He since had that You know Core Muscle Surgery But he ran for five and I sure didn't see a four or five or I saw a guy that never got caught you know and and sure enough when I talked to her. I don't believe that he's a four. Hi Four three all day long and ultimately what we liked about him you know Kyle and his staff but that's one reason when you talk about our hit rate on receivers and it hasn't been perfect but they do a tremendous job. They've been in the system for a long time. So you know when you're trying to project with all these college offenses you have to look at traits in and that's what we do we spend a Lotta time and sometimes it's what's what's the guy looked like with the ball in his hands because if he has that movement. I don't believe we can teach them how to run. Routes and Brandon was a guy that we thought ultimately there were a couple of guys in the draft that we've got to above everyone else. Tv Lamb and brandon. That had come. They can do all they had the strength to deal with all the holding man-to-man bump and run coverage that's going on today's football but then the speed that with the ball in his hand with the ball in their hands or two separate before you know during the route that has special kind of the complete package with him and then talking to her and he he really sold me on the kid. What how competitive. The kid is at the end of the day. I think once he passed Philly at Twenty One. We picked kinloch fourteen because the guy had got stuck at thirteen. You know a couple more moves He would have been a guy we would've taken and that probably would've raised some eyebrows right..

Yup which turns out bad things happen every week. That's true how often do bad things happen in our businesses adjacent means it every Monday. It's every every single Monday. Bad things happen on a weekly basis. Where you're going from? Not taking proper stock of inventories running out and having a scramble over order and then spent hours making stuff disciplinary issues with gasping and drama. "Me. Chandler has been getting a lot of attention as more and more people recognize him. Some of it's not so good people who don't like what what I'm doing you know. For the most part it's positive people asking for autographs. Even tipping him a group came in and I was an item on their scavenger on thing. I had to have video of them dancing with me. A man working for an HR firm wants to use him as an example of work ethic for his company approached me set on that he wanted to do a Include me in part of his video whereas employees Chandler's own boss says Chandler's work ethic is giving others a good impression of his business smallest store in terms of his ability smallest sign in line. It's very easy to miss as you drive by. And yet it's the most known as a result of Chandler's displays works it. It works folks. If you are not convinced just check out the store put a link to it on the show notes you can check it out there. That guy looks like he's playing the drums. He's going all in for hours at the time. Unbelievable now the final final action item. You can do every single week. These these eleven move. That definitely work that you can use is having employees give you unemployed testimony of what it's like to work in your office every week That is really really powerful. Jason Why is it so important to have video testimonials of your employees explaining what it's like to work there. Well it's just good to have. It's just it goes back to the video reviews. We can have as many Indian glass door reviews as possible but somebody along lines and back I don't know if I believe that. Well if you have a video I mean you know we have someone on your youtube channel that shows actual employees there. They don't have a script they just say okay. This is why I like working working. Here's what's different about it. They'd be row of the rest of the officer. You can see that they're not actors they're real people. If you type in Clay Clark employee reviews you can see what I'm talking about is so important. Horton you gather those reviews now. Bill belichick quote number eighteen. This right here is a powerful quote that somebody needs to write down Jason. What say say the less versatile you are the better? You have to be at what you do. Think about that for a second. In the context of football throughout at the years Bill Belichick has switched to a lot of different positions because of wh- injury and Jason Feerick coach. What sort of control you have have over? who gets injured or not? I mean I guess there's like a slight bit of control. Just make make your condition and trained well but you never know if somebody's GonNa take a hit wrong Ortho team just gonNA come at you. The opposing team's culture even harder so the most control you have is being able to fill that spot when somebody does get hurt so let me give some examples here for you'll get the the Patriots this year started the season with the guy at the fullback position by the name of James Devlin. Now James Devlin did not play fullback in college. fullback fullback where you basically run with the ball occasionally but more often than not you block four a guy running the ball. You make sure you're clearing a path so he's very very good good and he got hurt. So let's bring in the backup so they bring in a backup and they bring in Jacob Johnson and they're bringing Jacob Johnson and He gets hurt. It's another got their linebacker or landon. Roberts playing fullback. They're on their third straight. Gin Element is a receiver in the Patriots. He was a quarterback in college and occasionally during their offense the Patriots have him throw the ball. But he's actually used as a wide receiver. Why is that helpful Jason for the Patriots knowing that their receiver ever could also play quarterback? If need be if Tomlin's up you know break a finger or something happens. God forbid they need somebody who can still play that position there it. It is so again in your office. Do you make actionable Jason. How many people are not people in our office no how do search engine optimization and sales calls and know how to coach people a a great deal of the team Why just because let's say I get hit by a bus already? decided you know clam taken off the entire month of December. Sure I'm just you know. Christmas is the twenty fifth. Why did you start off in the call center and then move up to managing people before you could become a coach or a consultant? Well there were plenty of times where we would have people just not show. Oh up or show up late in around the corner you know you John as a call up and say hey you know how to do this job. Can you cover until the next person gets here. Absolutely then that way your bases are covered. And I'm getting paid. That's great but if you do not have a versatile team and you're a small business owner and there's only one guy in your company that knows how to do photoshop. What happens when you lose? Somebody will not only are you. Sol if they get sick or they quit butlers so brother you're also going to give them the ability to hold you hostage. People hire the website guy who wants to do. Php Oh and then he goes you or have been lying to you the whole time and you have no idea but that's because you relinquish that power by not having somebody ready or not having a source of wisdom that could you know verify now bill quote number. Nineteen he says. What what? Jason I think a good quarterback or a good linebacker a good safety. Even though you have a lot of bodies moving out there it's slows down for them and they can really see it then. There are other guys that are there other guys that it's a lot of guys moving and they don't see any don't say anything. It's like being a busy intersection. Just cars going everywhere. The guys that that can really sort it out they see the game at a slower pace and can really sort out and decipher all the movement. Which is hard but experienced certainly helps that? Yes that's powerful right there guys who can think well or the kind of people that he wants on his team now as a business coach or a consultant before anybody can become a client. They have to schedule a thirteen eighteen point assessment with meat and Jason. Why do I do all the thirteen point assessments myself? You are a very good judge of character but also oh you ask important questions and you see things differently. You look at it from the scope of somebody who has built multiple multimillion dollar businesses in. So you have a better understanding of who is going to be a good fit. Yup and I can see patterns. I'm like Oh this person would be perfect. Or here's the obvious cheek in their armor here or the five to ten things that are limiting their growth. I can see that easily because I have been in the forest out of the forest in the forest out of the forest through the forest up to the top of the mountain back down the mountain up to the top of the mountain back down to them over and over top to the to the top of the mountain the bottom through the forest and so now there's been some brush rush that's kind of grown up. There's been some lack of landscaping going on and now the path has been kinda covered. Yeah it's been kinda there's weeds growing up everywhere in that forest forest and the path has been obscured with snow and other obstructions leading up to the top of the mountain. And because I have been to the mountaintop I know which way to go. Okay even though some might not see the path anymore or maybe some have never known the path at all and it's amazing to me how how easy business can be if you have a good coach or an expert leading the way and so Jason. I thought we would do kind of a fun. A fun thing here is we. We were just released a Thanksgiving show during Thanksgiving and I thought the show went really well but I thought for a second you could share with the listeners about the growth percentages of these clients that are having growth this year so if you could just read the name of the company and their growth percentage edge that would be a beautiful thing. Let's read through all twenty four on this all twenty three on this list. Yeah so Scott's construction. They are builder. They had forty or fifty four percent. Growth Two thousand eighteen two thousand nineteen metal roof contractors they are of course a Roofer. They had eighty seven percent growth. Come on over here. Let's see gene breeze. She's a speaker. She had fifty two percent growth come on now. Bryant Armstrong. He's a builder. He had forty eight percent growth. Wow accolate exteriors. They windows and exciting eighty six percent growth reading off the names. Look these people up in verifying keep going a quality surfaces they do countertops they had seventy six percent growth come on now gables. Excavating evading self-explanatory had sixty one percent growth yup back to basics builders had a growth of twenty seven percent on Kelly. Construction Group had a twenty one percent growth. Both Yup Bogarde and sons construction. They had thirty three percent growth. That's huge growth. Thirty three percent growth continued. Yeah third restoration. Health chiropractors had one hundred fifteen percent growth. Come on come on best. Buy Window treatment. They had a seventy five percent growth. Yup Cheney construction had a fourteen percent growth yup custom automation automation technologies a sixteen percent every. Go See T.. Tech had fifty six percent growth. There we go Lake Martin. Mini Mall shouts to Mr Jason and Alabama had thirteen percent growth. And he's not even into December yet right as the time of this recording. It's not even December sooner stand. He's GonNa end up with a twenty percent growth and we we knock out the month of December her. That's a record salesman for most companies. Continue Health Works chiropractic doctor. Jay had a twenty percent growth margin all of these clients. These numbers are documented. And we we have not even and finished last month of the year. December is the biggest amount for almost every business continued Davinci Imas P.. They had one thousand ninety seven percent growth. Wow inspired spaces. They had a forty forty percent growth. Yup Laundry Barn had a one hundred percent growth. Yep and then our team Angels Touch Inborn Massachusetts had a seventy one percent growth full full package media with fifteen percent growth who'd CPA's almost doubled the size of their company this year. Shah homes has grown from thirty seven million to eighty million dollars. I mean we're talking about massive growth. It's because these things work in my job as a business owner is to just kind of slow so it down and to look at Your Business from a Meta level end to see problems that are harder to see if you don't see see things from a Meta level Jason. If you're so busy in the day today reacting why is it hard to see the obvious flaws that somebody else could see when they're not in the forest what why. Why is it hard to see the forest when you're in the middle of it well because you're you're close to everything you're super surrounded by only see what's right in front of you? Meanwhile in the foreground and background there's all sorts of stuff that easier to that. Needs your attention. I also find that the emotional fog of the situation. It's like you're in that fog and if you were five hundred yards away and you could see how close to the edge of the forest. You are You wouldn't be discouraged. No not at all Buni movement going on a circle for ten years or five years or whatever and you can't see how close you are to the edge. It becomes very very discouraging. Our final notable notable quarterback. I want to hammer home today on. Today's show is Bill Belichick quote number twenty one which he's famous for saying and I think it I think think it's easy to look at it. And kinda glance over it and not realize how profound it is in really what it means but let's go ahead and read our final. The bill belichick quote of today's show. The quote number. Twenty is do your job. I think a lot of people's struggle to do their job for the following reasons one. I WANNA do my job. And I'm sick Jason. When I'm sick what do you pop some dayquil and you still beat everybody here? Okay but I want to do my job but I have one hundred and two vacation times and with a hundred and.

"A cute up here code. Aw Boston was robbed with record. Snowfall and historic flooding after a massive storm took hold of the northeast but despite the frozen conditions the players got to play. Oh man so they are walking so this is the patriots in nothing but their gear. So Glenn Patient Celtics Jalen Brown proved that the phrase no days off runs true. No days days are so why. Why is it a big thing and important thing these guys to practice outside right now and some of these guys? NFL players making millions of dollars a year. Why are they outside well in order to play and make millions millions of dollars a year? They have to be able to play when it's difficult and they're going to succeed. Where other teams don't because I mean this these guys marching through the parking lot? It's windy. There's deep snow. It looks miserable but they have to be out there. What happens to the other teams have been practicing in a dome dome? Climate controlled environment win. Snow hits during a real game. What happens to those guys? They'll be distracted. They'll lock up. They won't know how to maneuver like these guys practice on you. You don't run on snow or slippery surfaces so the exactly how to go in order to not impede their movement but even then it's like a what was the. What was the play from the podcast? We did last last week where bill turned over the ball because he wanted to kick with the wind instead of against the other team didn't even think about that. Yeah Bill Check and if you listen to some of our previous shows we've took. He kept lot of examples but bill during a critical game elected to these at. Hey I don't want the ball during overtime like you don't want the ball. He just won the coin toss. Why do you the ball? Well he wanted to have the wind at his back and that his back and sure enough when the Games online the opposing team tried to kick a field goal into the wind. They couldn't do it right in so bills teams able to March the ball down the field and kick a field goal and win the game dip. This happens all the time now. Notable number fourteen this this just in from the bill belichick notable quotable center is what When you get wet it usually means something good? What does that mean? That was a great question. What does that mean into the twelve year? Old and music don't say it. Let me tell you what it means. He likes bad weather conditions. And why does he like bad weather condition because it's hard and the other team hasn't practiced in it. Right is what you to understand. This there are so many examples of former patriots. Talking about this but bill belichick. We'll actually make the balls wet and scuff them up all the time during practice. So that when you're in a game and the balls wet it's not new but what happens if you're trying to catch a wet football for the first time in your life and you're doing it on national television. What happens like somebody's tossed a billfish out of the river just flopping around and you have no idea how to grab it okay? Let's move onto the next door to record old notable for fifteen from coach. Bill Belichick. Whatever success I've had it is because I've tried to understand the situation of the player I think the coach's duty is to avoid complicating matters? Let's go back to notable quotable number fourteen for a second. I'm asking you what can you do to make your office environment. mm-hmm it tougher than it is on the plainfield so as an example. If you have a call center why would you want to role play Jason. The frequently asked questions or customer complaints situations situations with your call center team before they have a real complaint because it gets them ready Back when I was working at the call center or the rental car call centers ars working at. I came into both of those not having prepared and it wasn't until I started working for the call center that I would have weekly times with my manager in any other trainer where you go over hard customer service issues or you'd play a call back and say okay. What did you do wrong here and it would get me prepared that way the next time somebody calls in and they're screaming as Cagney? I don't lock up. I'm able to go in with nothing but candor make them build that rapport and then diffuse the situation. But if I weren't experience with that I wouldn't be able to close that anytime. Well we have another record. We'll hear from an audio excerpt from a James Harrison. Now James Harrison played with played for Bill Belichick during his final season in the in the NFL he will be a hall of fame NFL player. He was the strongest man in the NFL during his career. He's been the majority of his career on the Miami dolphins however James Harrison has been on other teams teams throughout his career and so he's played for a lot of different coaches and that includes the bengals and he played for the just. Jackie is this is like look at this guy I mean he. He played for the Bengals. He played for the steelers. He played for the Patriots. Those arms. What the crap? And so James Harrison is being asked about what it's like to play for bill belichick versus playing for other coaches. And this is what he has to say. We'll make sure we're getting under a Tomlin online versus a ballot check like I said it's discipline. Everybody think I'm talking about you know the players are just running wild. They're doing whatever they want to do is disciplined as far as understanding of defenses the execution them even with the players. You know understanding in this being taught the same way by everybody else. It's not. I'm not saying that the team is going crazy. They don't remember they WANNA do. That's that's what I'm saying. That's the big difference that I felt when I went over to New England. Well the reason why it's such a relevant subject is because Terry Bradshaw obviously working for five doing a great rage offer them for years four time superbowl champion with Pittsburgh steelers. He did an interview a couple of days ago when he spoke out about Tomlin and he said that he wasn't a fan and that his his coaches style. He's more interested in being friends with the players than doing anything else. My attitude a simple Tomlin has won sixteen and sixty as a head coach. He's been the three F. C. Championship. The Games two Super Bowls Super Bowl title eight playoff appearances and there's eleven years as head coach of the Pittsburgh steelers. I don't think there's much the plan about other than to say. He's not bill belichick but when you hear era bradshaw saying what he said. What do you take from that like? I said everyone's entitled to her opinion. You GotTa look type of coaster he played under versus right WH- versus what he's seeing. Now I would say that you know cholera was you know another coast that was you know. He's explaining that Bill Belichick a little discipline. He has on the team translates onto Indus success on the Field Yup. So let's let's break this down to small business language. Let's talk about checklists checklists gotTa let me check all the employees. Do not like Halloween checklist. Why do employees not like what I think of checklist? This is what I think chips. They they make it work. It's a it's a sexy idea but most people think about checklist. They think about.
